The Dragon's Desire
Which came first, the dragon or the.. dragon?
The Dragon's Desire
Long ago, perhaps there were dragons about. Knights rode forth to slay them and kingdoms shivered at the roars in the distance. Maybe. Or maybe it was just a fairy tale. But did it matter? This was not long ago. This was very recently ago.
“Of course you can find dragons in the hills!” the old man exclaimed, waving his cane wildly and nearly whalloping his grandson in the head with it. His eyes flashed and his wispy, white hair became more unkempt at the action.
“Dance with them, hunt with them, sup with them. Share riddles and stories and trinkets,” he continued, much to the delight of the young lady listening. She was close to being his granddaughter in law. “Ahhh… I remember a lazy afternoon lying atop the belly of a beautiful, ruby-scaled dragoness as she floated lazily in the lake.”
The look of bliss on his face was a sight to behold. But it quickly shrunk beneath a creased brow. “That is, IF you can find them,” he said. “A dragon has to take a liking to you to show himself to you. Ah, but you asked me about them, which is a good sign! They wouldn’t be on your mind at all had a dragon not been meddling to get your attention.”
Cory leaned forward again as the risk of impact from his grandfather’s cane had departed. The old man was kind, but somewhat loony. That made him Cory’s favorite person, of course. So he didn’t have the heart to tell Grandpa Frank that Carolyn brought up dragons because of a book of tales he’d found and given her. No harm in the stories from Gramps.
“You really think a dragon’s looking for me?” Carol asked, wide-eyed. Cory loved the fact that she was able to be mature when the time called for it, yet still had a wonder for the magic and fiction in the world.
“Of course! You wouldn’t ask about it otherwise,” Frank said with a determined look on his face. “Dragons are decisive, but they don’t always get their way. They might catch your eye with statues in the shop, or art on a web site. Or even a book from somebody close to you.”
Cory pursed his lips. Well, that was a bit creepy. But still within the realm of guessing.
Carol was even wider-eyed though. “So I have a good chance of finding one?”
“More than a good chance,” the old man agreed. “You go out into the hills and you’ll be hard pressed to not find one. And don’t be scared. They don’t hurt people.” He nodded sagely like this was a well-known fact. “Dragons have a lot of magic. So many things they can do. They can even bend time itself to their will, and they are kind to those who respect them. Dragons can’t even lie. It’s impossible for them.”
“Ah… but beware of them all the same,” he said, his voice dropping to a low rasp as his gaze darted this way and that, as if fearful of being overheard. “Flights and gifts and conversations are all well and good. But the thing they really want from you…” His eyes became huge. “...is SEX.”
“FRANK! That’s not an appropriate thing for children to hear!”
Grandma Lucille was not the one he feared overhearing as she cooked breakfast, but he probably should have feared it nonetheless.
Carolyn laughed merrily. “Oh REALLY now?” she asked. “And just why is that?”
Frank took on a dignified look. “They’re not children, Lucille. And even if they were, I told Cory about this when he was eleven, so it’s perfectly fine.”
“You did?!” the old woman asked, horrified at the thought.
Cory grinned and nodded. “He did, Gramma. Don’t worry. It didn’t turn me into a pervert or corrupt my poor, young mind,” he said. Then he added under his breath, “Much.”
Frank turned his attention back to Carol. “Glad you asked though. You see, dragons don’t have babies. Or even lay eggs. Oh, sure, they have all the parts, but for them, sex is just fun. Tales say some wizards long ago became worried about the number of dragons and made it so they couldn’t reproduce anymore. Other books say they never could reproduce with each other. Probably okay, since they don’t die of old age either. Could you imagine trillions of huge dragons in the world?”
She shook her head. “Nooooo… There’d be no place for anything else!”
“Exactly. And the dragon I met said she was okay with this anyway. More fun to not have to worry about watching over eggs. Ah! But they do want new dragons on occasion. Don’t want boredom to get its claws into them.” The old man nodded again, as if reminiscing about things. “So they steal the souls of humans and turn them into new dragons.”
She drew back. “Steal their souls?! Like kill them?”
“Oh, goodness, no. They have sex with them of course. They do it when the male cums, human or dragon, doesn’t matter. The legends say when the gift of seed is shared.” His eyes turned gleeful. “Only a very few humans are open-minded enough to even maybe be able to see them, so they don’t get chances very often.” A crooked finger was waggled. “If you were trying to make a new person to have fun with, would you want somebody who was angry at you for killing them? No! Of course not! You’d want somebody who had a lot of fun with you and likes you.”
Cory waved a finger at his grandfather. “But the dragoness you met was big enough for you to lay on her belly while she floated. No offense, Gramps, but it sounds like a hotdog in a hallway thing. Or worse for a girl with a male dragon. Like ouch-size.”
“Hmph. They can change their size to be smaller of course,” he said indignantly. “And it would not have been a hotdog! I’ll have you know I have a full summer sausage! See?!” He started trying to undo his pants, which created quite a ruckus for a few minutes as all three of them convinced him it was okay and he should not be showing that off.
“Hrmph,” he said again when he’d calmed down a bit. “Well, anyway, when you find a dragon, it’s fine. Up until they want sex. Then you have only two choices. Do it, or deny them. But dragons are crafty. They won’t let you go without doing it. At least not easily. They could keep you tied up for years, taking you away to their cave, keeping you, wearing down your resistance. They don’t have to turn you into a dragon either. They get your soul either way though.”
His eyes went squinty again. “But they don’t have to! Just a touch of their magic and you’ll WANT to do it. That’s the dangerous part.” His eyes widened. “All the promises. The power. The wealth. The fun. The desire. All dragons desire, and they will make you desire them. They’ll cajole and convince and even trick you with half-truths and things unsaid. They can hear your thoughts, know your mind, and play to your desires. But if you do it, you’ll be lost forever and never see home again. Then when you’re a dragon, they know they’ll have forever for you to come around to it and eventually have fun with other dragons. And if they get bored of waiting, they can just sleep for as long as they decide. A month, a year, even centuries with nothing able to disturb them.”
“Wow… I’m glad the dragoness didn’t try to do that to you,” Carol said, putting an affectionate hand on Cory’s. “I’d never meet Cory if you became a dragon.” She smiled at Cory, and he at her. They’d known each other for several years now and though he’d not officially proposed to her, it would be hard for anybody else to tell. They shared an apartment and had a cat they loved and everything. She was so happy she found him, and he felt the same. They were the cutest couple in high school and now, several years later, they were still adorable.
“Of course she tried!” Frank exclaimed. “Oooo, and I was so close to humping the stuffin’ out of her too!”
“FRANK!” Lucille scolded.
He sniffed and became sullen.
“How did you avoid it?” Carol asked, paying attention to it all closely.
“I had to do the worst thing to save myself,” he admitted, his eyes starting to water up. “I had to decree that she didn’t exist. I opened my mouth and said to her, ‘You’re trying to steal my soul, but I have a human life to live and a human wife I love! You’re not real!’. And then she was gone. It was as if she was never there. Except the torn clothing from her excitement,” he said, glancing to the side guiltily. “That was hard to explain to Lucy when I got home.”
“To this day he sticks to that tale and won’t tell me what really happened to make him come home pantsless and with his shirt torn to shreds.”
Gramps sighed. “You don’t even have to say it. Just think that you don’t believe in them. The only regret is that once you decree that, you can never take it back. After that, you can never see dragons again. But had I given in, I’d never come home to my beautiful Lucille.” He shook his head sadly. Then he looked thoughtful. “Gryphons, on the other hand…”
“Try to tell them that story and you’ll not get breakfast,” Lucille told him matter of factly.
He shut up and sulked again, but leaned over to Carol. “Ask me after breakfast,” he told her discretely. “Maybe after lunch,” he said after giving it more consideration as Grandma Lucy brought breakfast over on a tray and set it out on the table for everybody.
* * *
Breakfast was tasty but less-exciting with Lucy watching Frank like a hawk to keep him from telling more interesting stories. Carol headed out to explore the property while Cory was leashed into helping his grandparents with chores. This was why he visited them every fall, of course. He did a day’s worth of helping and got a week to spend having fun on their land and the public land of the hills behind it. Not that anybody ever came out here, he assured her. And as long as she stuck to the nearby area, there wasn’t anything dangerous either. The local lake and fields were very peaceful.
Her waist-length red hair was tied back in a braid and a small day pack graced her back. The weather was very nice. It never really got too cold or hot here and the next month or so would be perfect, so this week would be fine. A light blouse and shorts graced her small frame as she walked across the field. Fluffy clouds crowded out most of the sapphire blue of the sky above, keeping the sun away for the most part. This was fine with her, as her freckled skin tended to burn easily.
She was glad Cory wasn’t a tits guy or an ass man, because she didn’t have a lot of either. He appreciated her fiery spunk, fun attitude, mind, and devotion to him despite her physical desires. Admittedly though, he’d had to give in and get some fun toys for her to make up for the times he wasn’t there or was on cooldown. She loved how fun he was and how accepting, and absolutely loved the fact that he kept her in mind when they ruffled the bed sheets. He wasn’t happy unless she came at least twice before he did. He was a lucky find, as most guys didn’t give a rat’s ass as long as they got off.
The lake was right where Lucille’d told her it should be. She found the shore and headed west, toward the hill. Soon enough she found the small river that ran into the lake and kept its waters up. The rocks it tumbled over made it babble delightfully and she explored up it a short ways, peeking at the fish in the crystal-clear water and the tadpoles in the shallow, still pools.
Her gaze lifted to the sky on occasion and she smiled when she saw a bird. A hawk circling, looking for an unwary rodent to swoop down upon. If she did see a dragon, would it swoop down on her from above? Would it take her flying above the clouds, looking down at the forest and fields below? Would he swim with her in the lake and splash water on her bare breasts as she giggled, his tail curling gently around her thigh and…?
She sucked in a quick breath and brought her thoughts back to the moment, a flush on her face and a familiar tingle in her loins. Looking around furtively, she shrugged the pack off her back. There was no sign of anybody, and they’d all assured her there was nobody for miles.
With a playful grin, she slipped her feet out of her sandals and ran her hands down her side and under the waistband of her shorts, showing off to the world and nobody at the same time. She spun and danced about on the smooth, soft clay that lined the river bank there, running her hands over her body and moaning wantonly. Her hips undulated as she unfastened her shorts, and despite her urge to tease the wild world around her, she had desires that encouraged her to slide both the pants and panties off at the same time. She imagined a dragon, looking down from above, watching her and wanting her. He’d have no time for her to be a tease.
The clothing went into the bag for safekeeping and she squatted as she dug beneath the snacks and blanket and found the textured silicone toy. She had half a thought that she should spread out the blanket for this, but that was pushed aside. The dragon had no time or need for blankets, so neither did she.
Her free hand dipped between her legs to rub at her bare skin as she pulled out the molded toy. The site claimed it was shaped like a dragon’s shaft. Though she obviously had no way to verify this, she knew she enjoyed it immensely.
“Oh, my, dragon,” she murmured beneath the sound of the river water rushing through its bed. “You’re so excited,” she cooed at the toy, dipping her fingers between already-wet folds. She’d never tell Frank that the story had turned her on. Nope. Nope.
“No stories? No gifts? No relaxing together under the great dome of the sky?” she asked it. “We could swim. I’m beautiful in the water. No? Ahh, you have needs too. Desires. Like me.”
Wet fingers found the toy and traced along the ridges and bumps, leaving her slick juices on the soft surface. “But what about Cory?” she asked it with a pout. “I love him, and I don’t want to leave him.” She tilted her head at the moist toy. “What’s that? You’ll pull out before you cum? Hmmmm…” She grinned wickedly. “Thank you, oh wonderful dragon, that’s such a nice offer! You know if you didn’t, I could stop believing anyway.”
Dropping to her elbows and knees, she waggled her bare rear downstream, carefully moving the toy back between her spread legs. “Mmmm, come on then,” she moaned, enjoying the brief moment of warm sun on her skin as the sun peeked between the clouds. The toy’s tip was put into place and she imagined strong claws gripping her hips as she pulled with her hand and drove the length of the toy into herself in one smooth stroke.
A delighted gasp was borne away by the breeze before she started to thrust the toy wildly, biting her lip and filling her needful body with the sensation. The very real, though unlikely possibility that somebody could come up on her and be watching was a thrill. The completely unreal but wonderfully imaginative thought of a real dragon was even more exciting. His forepaws gripping her hips, his body just the right size for her, thrusting his warmth into her depths… As she drove the toy into the wetness, the imagining seemed so real.
His tailtip curled around her thigh and his cheek nudged against her neck as she gasped, near her own climax. Wait… didn’t dragons have like spikes on their tails or something? This tail didn’t. This was more than she was imagining.
“If you move the toy, I’ll happily replace it with the real thing,” a rumbling purr of a voice murmured near her ear. “And I promise to pull out before I cum,” he said, his claws clenching at her hips as the world darkened past her closed eyelids. “Like you said, you have the ability to make me be gone, so I have every reason to behave. Better to have some fun than none at all, right?”
Her head was swimming from how close she was to cumming so it was really hard to panic properly. Her green eyes blinked open to find a pair of gem-like, azure, leathery wings mantled around her protectively. She glanced to the side to find his own bright green eyes gazing back at her from within the brilliantly-blue face. Then down her body to find his claws holding her hips firmly and his rigid shaft obvious between his hind legs behind her. It looked nothing like the toy, but it looked… it was real. It was very exciting.
“No need for wooing when you’re this excited,” he purred to her, nuzzling her neck. “Be swift and you can come to your peak in an instant, enjoying my heat without pulling me too close to cumming. Like I said, My word is my bond, you know that.”
A drip of slick precum falling from the tip of his flesh, leaving a shining string of itself in its wake was all it took to drive her to decide. She loved Cory dearly and never wanted to lose him, but this was safe! The dragon gave his word, and even if she didn’t trust him, she could dismiss him in a heartbeat. This was something she dreamed of. Something she imagined in her wildest fantasies. Something she may never have a chance to do again, and she could so easily see his desire for her. Her body demanded she take this. The toy was yanked out and fell to the ground without a thought from her as her hand reached back to grab the real thing instead.
“So needful,” he purred with a gasp as her hand encircled him. He didn’t need any urging or direction even. His hips shifted and his hot tip took the place where the cool silicone had been before.
The woman could help but cry out with a happy yelp as he drove himself into her in an instant. His scales slapped against her rear as he hilted his length into her tightness, her small frame bounced forward by the emphatic push. The feeling was intense and the reality of the situation was even more so. Her velvety passage was milking and tugging at him even from this first delve. The rapid repeats of it, driven by the muscles of a mythical beast that she’d only ever imagined before, bore her to unexplored heights in a heartbeat.
The explosive sensation as she came blasted firework sparkles behind her eyelids and felt like orgasmic TNT was going off between her legs. The dragon still didn’t let up though, driving her to higher pleasures, the feelings shooting her well above the clouds in her mind’s eye.
Then he slowed, his forepaws tensing around her waist as she drifted down happily, finally pausing fully in her. “Mmmf… I… I underestimated your… delightful feel,” he growled happily, then pulled out suddenly as his wings folded closer in front of her.
She squeaked in delight and was overjoyed that he’d pulled out like he promised and she had absolutely no qualms about him promptly nestling his length between her buns like a hot dog. She’d gotten her impossible fun and she’d still be able to go back to Cory. She couldn’t believe how wonderful this was. Maybe the dragon would agree to see her again later if Cory was okay with it. She couldn’t wait to tell him!
“Thank you,” she gasped happily as he gave a few rubs against her bottom, the ridges of his flesh eliciting a moan from her as they slid past the other hole. His muzzle pressed against the back of her neck and she felt the warm woosh of his breath through flared nostrils before his tail tightened around her thigh. His body shuddered and she squeaked again with a happy thought as his shaft pulsed and the spurts of his hot seed splashed onto the fine skin of her back. She was glad she’d helped him be happy too.
“No… no… thank YOU… my beautiful dragoness,” he murmured.
The cum on her back felt good. Too good… it numbed her. Her vision was contracting into a tunnel of black and she looked to the side at him in a panic, her vision filled by his emerald eyes. “No…” she protested weakly. “No, you didn’t cum in me!”
“It doesn’t have to be inside to be shared with you,” he assured her with a purr as her whole body became numb and she slumped to the side. “With everything else you knew, I’m surprised you didn’t know that.”
The numbness was a godsend as her form twisted and her bones creaked. Even with nearly no sensation, she suffered through the tightness of her blouse constricting her growing body until her new, strikingly red, ruby back scales were strong enough for him to use a claw to slice the fabric without hurting her skin. The wings were less-numb as they burst from her back and shoulders, the membranes along her sides making her skin crawl as they grew. The long, prehensile tail was quick to extended from her bottom as he hovered over her protectively, his wings spread across her changing form.
Her senses were so much more powerful now, but still fading fast as she slumped and her head fell to the ground. Only one thought went through her and clutched at her entire being like it would strangle the new life from her.
“Cory…” she whispered desperately as her vision faded and she was aware of the male dragon lifting his wings triumphantly and roaring out his success.

Carolyn’s mind started to clear as she woke in a warm, soft bed with comfortable covers. God, what a nightmare. What happened? Was it still Friday? Did she get hurt while walking or something? She felt like she’d been sleeping in the same position forever. She really needed to stretch.
Arms and legs extended and muscles worked in them just fine with no cause for alarm. But when her ears folded about and her wings lifted the covers away, that lack of cause for alarm became an extreme cause for alarm instead.
“What?! Wait, no, no, what is this?” she demanded, scrambling onto four feet before twisting about to pull the variety of covers away from her wings.
“You’re a dragoness. A very beautiful, red dragoness,” a familiar voice said from nearby.
Despite the fact that there was very little light in the cave she occupied, she could see the blue dragon relaxing in the shadows nearby. There was a crack in the ceiling that let starlight in right now, which was not much, but plenty for her extremely-sensitive eyes.
She was about a quarter his size and she took at least a few seconds for her mind to get the idea that she had six appendages now. The fact that it was only a few seconds was startling though. She knew things. Draconic things. Just… not all the draconic things.
“YOU!” she exclaimed. “You did this to me! You stole me away from Cory! I’m going to kill you!”
With a vicious rawr, she leapt on him and clawed and bit and beat at him. He didn’t respond to her fury at all though and her claws slipped along his scales and her teeth found no purchase in his body. Her jaws could snap a horse in half, but against another dragon, there was nothing. Dragons were too rare and important to be hurt by each other.
Tears flowed from her eyes and she finally lost her fury, just beating her clenched forepaws against him as she cried. “I hate you. I hate you so much right now!”
“You won’t always hate me,” he said softly.
“No! I’ll always…” she said, then choked up and couldn’t say more.
“You’re a dragon now,” he told her. “This Cory of yours is a human. He’ll die, and you won’t. There’s nothing you can do. You’ll be fine. You have a long time to consider it. This is your cave now. You’ve been sleeping for three months to gain your initial strength and let your mind and body and magic adjust, so all the humans think you’re dead.”
Her mind was spinning through all the things she knew. She could be smaller, but not bigger than how she’d grown. She had some control over her form to a degree, more in the future. A lot of magics, but not all the magics. Definitely more in the future too.
“There IS something I can do,” she said defiantly. “I can make Cory a dragon.” Being told she couldn’t do things really brought out the redhead fight in her.
“Oh? Well, that seems silly, but if you insist, you can find me when you’re ready,” he said, then he vanished into the darkness. Literally vanished. He’d teleported elsewhere. She didn’t care right now though. She had to somehow convince her beloved that he should have sex with her and become a dragon, if she could even get him to see her. She would succeed though. There was nothing she could do to see her cat again, but she’d be damned if she was going to lose Cory.
* * *
“Thanks for having me on such short notice, Grandpa Frank,” Cory said, wringing his hands.
“I’m sorry they never found her remains or the animal that killed her,” Lucille said softly. “Hopefully it moved on. There haven’t been any sightings of big animals at all.”
“Harumph. She got tricked by a dragon,” Frank said. “Just like I told you. No matter how smart you think you are, they’ll trick you.”
“Oh leave him be from that nonsense, Frank,” Lucy scolded him. “He’s suffered enough as it is.”
“It’s okay, Grams,” Cory said with more of a smile than he intended. “I’m going to take a walk in the hills. Clear my head. I’ll be back before dark.”
“Watch out for the dragons! They’ll get you too!”
“Frank!”
Cory smiled as he headed out the door. It seemed impossible, but somewhere deep in his gut he hoped that they would get him. If it was a vicious beast like a bear, being eaten would be better than living without Carolyn. If it really were a dragon…? Well… He couldn’t really bring himself to hope too much, but there was still that hope.
His feet brought him to the river bank where they’d found her pack and shredded shirt along with the big claw marks in the clay ground. The river had risen now with the rains and the clay was soft and wet under the water again, the marks erased by the flow.
“Carolyn,” he said under his breath, crouching at the edge of the bank. “I wish you really did become a dragon. That would be better than just dying.”
“I did,” she said softly from behind him.
“Carolyn?!” he exclaimed, standing up and spinning to face her.
The sudden motion combined with the fact that he found himself face to nose with a bright red dragon made him stumble backwards off the bank and tumble into the water. His last thought before his head hit a rounded rock was that his own imagination was about to drown him. Then he blacked out.
* * *
“There, that should have worked. I think,” he heard Carol saying fretfully. Her voice was different, but still recognizable. He was damp and chilly, and as he opened his eyes, he found himself not too deep in a cave. That and with a green-eyed dragon face peering worriedly down at him.
His heart stopped for a moment and he gasped. “C-Carolyn?”
“It did work!” she exclaimed happily. “I healed your headache! Oh, Cory, I was so worried! A dragon! A real dragon! He tricked me! I thought I’d lose you and never be able to see you or Patches again, and I was so angry at him but I couldn’t hurt him at all and I got so sad but…” She got a fire in her eyes. Almost literally. It looked like a flame flickering inside them. “I’m not going to lose you, Cory! You mean everything to me!”
His mind was reeling as he sat up and she gave him the whole information dump all at once, then started nuzzling him and tried to hug him despite the fact that she hadn’t shrunk down from a size suitable to carry her poor mate to the cave.
“I can make this work. I got tricked but I can still make you a dragon and then we can be together again! You’re everything to me! When I woke up I thought of you and Patches and I couldn’t do anything but cry. I can’t see Patches again, but I can help you! Just have sex with me and you’ll be a dragon to and then you’ll never die and we’ll be together!”
He scrambled and writhed and tried to disengage, letting out a yelp as she squeezed him almost too tightly, and she let him go, embarrassed. He gazed at her, wide-eyed. “You… you’re a dragon! A real dragon! But… but Gramps said he met a ruby dragoness, just like you. You’re trying to trick me? Gramps said dragons can read your mind…”
“What? No! Cory! It’s me, Carolyn! I’m your love! Oh, god, please believe me!”
Cory shook his head and backed away, then bolted from the cave, nearly unaware of the world around him as he ran back to his grandparent’s house.
* * *
Carol stood in shock. Cory? He didn’t believe her? He thought she was the same dragoness who tried to tempt Grandpa Frank.
No… No… This couldn’t be happening! This…
She flopped on her side in defeat. God, no, she’d lost him forever!
Wait… no… He just ran away. He didn’t say he didn’t believe in her. She could still have another chance. Maybe… maybe… give him time. Let him forget the old her. Then he’d be willing. And with time, she’d have more magic and more things she could do, too.
A year… no… Five. Five years and she’d have the rest of her abilities. How could she wait five years though? Missing him and knowing the other dragon was out there? She…
She could sleep. Dragons could sleep, oblivious and immune to the outside world. A month. A year. A century. It made no difference to them. She took a deep breath, not even bothering to curl up or get comfortable. She’d sleep five years. If she ever lost him completely, she’d just sleep… she didn’t know how long. Maybe until the end of time.
Her eyes dimmed and both pairs of lids slowly slipped closed. It took a day to get to sleep, but then it would be welcome oblivion for that time. Five years, Cory. Please be there for me. Please.
* * *
“Grandpa? There was something… something you said…”
“Hmmm? Speak up! Mumbling doesn’t do either of us any good.”
“Sorry. You said dragons can’t lie. Is that true?”
“Of course it’s true! They’re magical creatures so they’re bound by magic! They cannot tell a lie. But they’ll still try to trick you! Things they don’t tell. The way they word things. It’s all very literal.”
Cory kept running over what happened in his head.
It’s me, Carolyn. I’m your love.
He loved only Carolyn. Well, and Patches, their cat, but not the same way, and the dragon was obviously not the cat. If Grandpa Frank was right, there was no way the dragoness could lie about that. So it had to be true.
Was it just desperation? Maybe. But as he thought more about it, he became more convinced. If it was Carolyn, it would be the only way. If it wasn’t, then she was truly dead, and he’d lose nothing more. It was a chance he could take. Unless he was forgetting something. Something like…
“Patches!” he exclaimed.
“What?” Frank asked, startled by the outcry as he was just starting to nap.
“Grandpa Frank, I… um… I forgot something important about my cat at home. But… Um… Okay…” He took a deep breath. “I need to go home to take care of Patches. She was important to Carol and she’s important to me. But I need to come back tomorrow.”
“Need?”
“Um, want to come back. I still have to get over… yeah. You know.”
Lucy smiled from where she was knitting. “Don’t worry about him, Cory. You can come back. When do you think you’ll arrive?”
He looked at the time. It was just past ten in the morning. “I won’t be able to leave as early since I’m going to arrive home later tonight. I’ll try to get back by about nine in the morning, okay?” He didn’t even bother to grab his stuff as he rushed out the door.
Lucile looked after him as the door closed. “Frank?” She glanced at him then stretched out a leg to poke him awake with a toe.
“Whaaat?” he asked crankily.
“Do you think he’ll be okay? It’s been months and he still can’t get over her.”
“He’ll be fine. He just needs to be called by a good dragoness and get distracted a little, then he’ll be fine. Hmmm… Or maybe he’ll find the gryphons. Or… some…” he went back to snoring and Lucy shook her head.
* * *
“The army? Seriously?” Susan demanded. “Cory, you can’t be serious about this.” She fretted some. She was his closest friend and worried about him. She had mixed feelings when Carolyn vanished. It freed him up to maybe be hers, but in the worst possible way. So she just tried to be there for him and hoped that if he decided to be with somebody again, it would be her.
“Completely serious,” he said. “So I need you to take care of Patches for me. I didn’t even realize it until now and now I’m out of time. Patches loves you and you love her too. You’re the only person I trust to do this.”
“I’ve heard of them picking people up at odd hours, but this late is nuts.” She shook her head and looked at him sadly. “Can’t convince you to stay here instead?”
“No, it’s already done,” he said. “I’ll miss you though.” He handed her the cat and leaned in to kiss her cheek. “Thanks,” he said genuinely, then turned and left.
As the door closed, she touched her cheek where he kissed it and then touched the fingertip to her lips. Well, the army wasn’t that bad. She could try to wait for him to be out of training. If they didn’t break him, he was worth waiting for.
“Come on, Patches. Let’s get you settled into your new home,” she said softly.

Cory was exhausted as he pulled back in at his grandparent’s place. The drive was eight hours on open roads, so he’d gotten home at about eight the past night because of traffic. It took him an hour to pack up things and set his affairs in order properly, and deliver Patches to Susan. He would miss both of them too. But Carol was more important. Then about three and a half hours of sleep before he left home again in the dark of the night. Now it was nearly ten because of morning rush hour that he’d gone through and he was just glad he’d arrived safely.
He started to head to the front door, but thought better of it. He had to do this, and the more he delayed, the more he was second-guessing himself. So he turned to the fields and jogged out in the crisp morning air, trying to retrace the steps that he’d taken in a haze the day before when he was running the other way. He found the cave shortly after ten.
“Carolyn?” he called softly as he walked in and around the corner. His heart stopped as he saw the massive dragon sprawled out on her side and unmoving. He stood, staring and afraid. Had she died somehow? No. He could see she was still breathing evenly. She must be asleep.
“It must have been hard for you for me to run away,” he said quietly, sitting down by her foreleg. He was tired too, so he snuggled back against her warm body. They could wake to each other, together, and things would be good again.
It was a surprise to him as her forepaw moved and curled over him possessively. For a moment he pushed a little and tried to break free, but she would not let him go. He was comfortable though, not squished or anything. This was fine. He’d sleep, and soon they would wake. He smiled as he drifted off to sleep. They would be together again.

“Cory…” the dragoness murmured, shifting slightly as she woke. Her dreams had mostly faded over the five years, but they were full of him. That much she remembered.
Her eyes blinked open as her small movements made her aware of something clutched firmly in her foreleg. She glanced down and peered at it as her mind was waking up. A skeleton in tattered, old clothing.
A yelp escaped her muzzle as she scrambled up away from it. The clothes… they looked familiar. The scent…
Her nostrils flared as she sniffed deeply at the clothing, then if her heart could have just stopped and killed her instantly, it would have been better than the pain that flooded it from the realization.
“CORY!”
He’d come back while she was asleep?! She’d been clinging to the skeleton tightly. What happened? Did she hold onto him until he died, unable to know as she slept? God, no, this was… this was the worst thing that could happen. She lifted her head, her larger size after five years putting it closer to the ceiling of the cave, and roared out her emotional agony, then collapsed in grief.

“You were holding this tightly for your whole slumber,” a voice said softly from where the skeleton had been dropped.
She opened her eyes to see the blue dragon very gently lifting the skeleton, the tattered remains of the clothing falling away from it and leaving it bare. She didn’t have the energy to be angry anymore.
“This is all your fault. Are you happy now? You got what you wanted,” she said sullenly.
“I want you to be happy. You will be happy eventually, but right now you aren’t. Five years ago, he returned the day you went fully to sleep and snuggled against you to rest. In your sleep you clung to him tightly. Now you wake to this.” He shook his head. “Even our ability to travel through time doesn’t allow us to make a paradox. What happened, happened, and can’t be undone.” He held the skeleton carefully and vanished.
“Travel through…? HEY! Bring him BACK! God damn you!” She rushed over to where the other dragon had been standing and looked around furiously.
“Travel through time, huh? Yeah… yeah, I can do that now. I know I can. Well, you know what, dragon? Fuck your paradoxes and fuck what you say I can’t do! I’m going to save Cory and fuck the whole goddamn universe if it thinks it can stop me!”
She mantled her wings as she gathered energy and trusted her draconic instincts to not send her wrong in something she’d never done before. Five years ago, but… yes… The other dragon said he arrived the day she went fully to sleep, and he couldn’t lie to her either. She focused on three in the afternoon of that day in her mind and let the power take her away.

Cory woke as the sun moved further in the sky and the light got too bright. He stretched, then strained against the forepaw that held him, but for the life of him he couldn’t get it to move or release him. Wriggling, squirming, pulling and pushing, it just made her hold onto him more tightly. Guess he’d need to wake her up.
“Carolyn!” he called, patting her shoulder. “Carol, wake up, love! I’m back! I’m here! I’m ready to be with you!” Trying to shake her had absolutely no effect, and as he continued to call and pat and poke, a memory flashed in his mind.
“They can just sleep for as long as they decide. A month, a year, even centuries with nothing able to disturb them,” Grandpa Frank’s cheerful face said in his mind’s eye.
He had a sinking feeling. “Carolyn!” he called loudly. “Wake up! Don’t be asleep for a long time!” As she continued to be unresponsive, his desperation to get out of her grip became greater, but he made absolutely no headway at all.
“CAROLYN! WAKE UP!” he screamed, near tears.
“Hush! Cory! I’m here, you’ll be okay!” Carol said as she got her bearings and rushed over to him.
Cory was taken aback by the bigger duplicate of the dragon that was sleeping here and clinging to him. “What…? What’s going on?” he demanded.
“I went to sleep for five years, hoping I could convince you after I woke up. I had no idea you’d come back,” she said. She grasped her own paw - well, the one of the asleep her - and her strength was able to lift it carefully off him, despite her sleeping self’s small fight to keep him close. “So I came back in time to save you from being stuck here for five years,” she said, mollified as she sat her rump down guiltily.
“I couldn’t just stay here for five years,” he observed. “I’d die of thirst and hunger long before that. Save…?” His eyes widened as she looked away in pain. “You saved me from dying in your sleeping grasp!”
She nodded numbly. “As soon as I woke up and realized the skeleton was in your clothes.”
Something was not quite right and he couldn’t put his finger on it, so his mind latched onto at least the one doubt he could formulate. “You’re really my Carolyn, right? Not some other, other dragon who just looks like her?”
The dragoness dropped to her belly and brought her nose inches from his. “Cory, I’m YOUR Carolyn,” she said with full sincerity. “I’m the Carolyn that you loved, who you met in school, and who loved you desperately back. So much that I even came back in time as a damn dragon to save you from my own sads. And now, even though it sounds completely insane.”
She paused at that and looked thoughtful. “Which is even weirder since I’m a dragon now which is also completely insane. Well, I want you to have sex with me and become a dragon too, and then we will be dragons together forever.” She looked to the side and fidgeted. “And have lots of dragon sex,” she appended sheepishly.
He laughed suddenly, causing her to jerk her head back in surprise. “Even without the ‘dragons can’t lie’ thing, that definitely sounds like you, love.” He lunged forward and grabbed her snout for a hug. “I missed you so much. Everybody said a bear got you, even though this is not bear area.”
“I missed you too,” she admitted. “I worried three times that I might never see you again. Umm… I’m like really big, aren’t I?” she asked, realizing how small he was compared to her nose.
“Probably big enough to fit me in your mouth even,” he said with a chuckle.
“Oooo… tasty idea,” she said, licking his front. Then she promptly made a face and stuck her tongue out. “Bleh, blech… clothing. Bad enough licking it with a human tongue. That was much worse. Um, hold on… I think I can…”
He promptly fell on her when the muzzle he was leaning against to hug was much smaller and connected to a dragoness whose face met his crotch when she was standing straight on all fours, rather than nearly reaching the ceiling of the cave.
“Huh,” she said, looking back at him as he got caught by her wings from sliding gracelessly down her back face-first. “You okay? I thought being fallen on would do more to me. I guess I’m really strong now.”
“I’m okay,” he assured her, carefully sliding off her neck and plopping on his ass on the ground. “You feel really interesting. Like velvet over steel, but the steel moves.”
“Cory…” she turned on him and got right in his face. “Right now, I’ve had three scares and I’m a fucking dragon. There is no goddamned way I’m going to give anything a chance to go wrong. So you have like zero time now to get out of that clothing and start dragon fucking, or so help me…”
He laughed. “Oh, god, Carolyn, I’ve missed you so much. That’s definitely you.” He took off his shoes and socks, then got up and disrobed as she investigated her own body - wings, tail, legs - and finally flopped happily on her back. Her tail caught his clothing and flung it into the darkness where she’d first appeared. He wouldn’t need it anymore.
“This… this honestly feels really neat,” she said, rubbing her flat, scaled chest. “Though less fun there.”
Cory kneeled straddling her tail and rubbed her legs. “Um… Hon? You look like you just have smooth anatomy. You’re… you’re not a Barbie Dragon, are you?”
She lifted her head in surprise and examined between her own legs. “Oh fer fuck’s sake!” she exclaimed. “I… I know I have it in there somewhere. I think I just need to be excited for it to show at all.”
She whined. “Don’t have time for that,” she decreed and curled over herself to grab his bottom and pull him to straddle her belly instead so she could reach him with her muzzle. “This had better wake up real quick,” she said of his semi-stressed, floppy cock.
“Not used to this kind of thi-IIInnnnng!” his attention was quite displaced when she engulfed the softness with her mouth and curled her tongue around it, then gave it a suckle. “Eee! Teeth! Teeth!”
“Mmmf!” she said, changing how she was holding him in her muzzle and taking away the touch of the sharp teeth. Then, “Mmmmmmmmmmrrrrrrr…” as the difference and her efforts brought out the hard in him.
Soon she had him moaning and making little squeaks as she did things that a dragon tongue allowed, deeper than a human mouth could ever handle. Her spit was nice and slippery and she used it to her advantage, loving the fact that she could keep him surprised as she explored the things she could do. Heck, she had so much tongue and so much control over it that she could wrap it around his balls!
She squeezed his bottom and kneaded at it. He was aware of how careful she was with her claws. Her tail curled around his thigh and she got creative with the pinky-sized tip, flicking it along his balls and using it as an extra appendage to tease him happily.
“Mmmf! Rrrmff!” she exclaimed, releasing him from her muzzle. “You’re right at the edge, Cory, I know you. I feel the cool on my body behind you. I want you to cum in me. God, cum in my dragon body!”
Her tail tugged him back and she grabbed his hips to guide him better until he was back far enough to see that she spoke the truth. The ruby red surface was relaxed and revealed a slit that was wet and wanting. With her hands on his hips and his legs still straddling her waist above her hind legs, it was not quite the right angle, but she proved her flexibility as she demandingly nosed at his slick cock and aimed it down into her. Then she nearly didn’t pull her head back in time before her grip on his hips demanded his presence at full depth, immediately.
“Oh god, oh god, Carol,” he exclaimed. “So… soooo good… I love you so much!”
She wanted him so badly. She needed him NOW. So for a coup de grace, her tailtip tickled along his pucker and dipped in to give him a sweep. Cory couldn’t resist the dragon’s desire. Her wings wrapped around him possessively as he gave in to the pleasure and she felt the buck of his flesh inside as he succumbed to her.
His cum inside was something more. It had an energy. She instinctively grasped it with her magic and stared hungrily into his eyes as she claimed his soul with a carnal and primal need. “Mine…” she growled, delighted with her prize as his eyelids fluttered and she saw the shift from the other side of things.
“MINE!” she roared out triumphantly as he fell still and silent on her front.
The roar echoed through the cave and left the place ringing, and as it faded she heard the soft scrape of a scaled tail against the floor.
“You’ll want to shift bigger. He’s going to get bigger as he changes,” the blue dragon advised her as he moved carefully with the skeleton in his forepaws to where her sleeping body laid. While she was enjoying her mate, he’d dressed the skeleton in the discarded clothing, shoes and all. He looked at her sleeping form affectionately and lifted the forepaw with the utmost care, slipping the skeleton there for her to claim and glom onto in her sleep.
Carol stared in surprise. Then the creak of bones in her wonderful mate got her attention and she changed back to her normal size, not displacing him from her belly.
“Wait… what? What bones are those?”
“They’re the ones I brought with me from when you saw me vanish after you woke up,” he told her, smiling. “I wasn’t lying when I said you can’t create a paradox. We can’t lie, remember?”
“You tricked me?”
“If you hadn’t come back to save him, it would have been his bones in your grasp when you woke. But without bones, you’d have no reason to come back to save him.” He stretched languidly. “Now you are a dragon, and he is a dragon, and you are happy. That was my goal, so I’ll be on my way. You have your lovely cave in here to keep him in until he wakes up fully from his change too. He’ll waken on occasion, just a little, but he won’t remember it until he wakes for good in a few months.” He turned and started padding away into the cave.
She exclaimed in surprise as wings began to press out from Cory’s back and she realized she wanted to take care of him as scales started to form. But she looked after the retreating blue dragon. “Wait… I… I…”
He paused and looked back at her. “Hmm?”
“I don’t hate you anymore,” she said softly. “I don’t understand it all, but… thank you. If I want to find you again… how would I know it’s you?”
“Dragons can change, but we will always know each other by our scent. You know mine well already, as you’ll realize when you sense me again.” He dipped his head slightly, his eyes glowing brilliantly in the shadows in a way that was burned into her memory. “We can’t lie. So remember what I said when I thanked you, months ago: MY beautiful dragoness.”
Her head spun as she tried to figure out the implications of that claim. “Wait, but…” She looked back up at him. “...I don’t even know who you are or your name, and I want to be Cory’s.”
He gazed at her with a toothy grin, then turned back around. “You are,” he called cryptically back over his shoulder. Then he vanished.
“But…” she murmured. She was horribly confused now.
But even as the blue male’s scent faded from where he’d just vanished, she realized she could still smell him close. Her eyes dropped to her love, who was now fully scaled and nearly completely dragon-shaped and she had a twinge of understanding as his scales began to gain a blue hue. He stirred, barely, and showed a flash of emerald green eyes that matched precisely what she’d seen just moments before. Now she knew where the scent was coming from.
They were both born of the dragon’s desire.
Of their own desire.
Of each other.
