Magical Miscreant Missions
This one really went far off the rails. The continuation of Taco Supreme trying to find his place in the world of magic. He has a lot to think about. I love the ending.
Taco Supreme used to be an average half-breed Possum until he made a random choice and accidently hitchhiked through a portal to the east coast. He was very far from the petting zoo he grew up at. Taco knew his adoptive mother, Tasha the Snow Leopard missed him, but Taco was hooked when Fang the Blue Saber Tooth Tiger taught him about the world of magic. Taco used to watch TV shows about magic and his mom would explain that magic wasn't real. He now knew it was.
At the bottom of a very tall building, Taco and Nobody the Chimpanzee look up. Nobody checks the baby backpack Taco is strapped into and asks, "Are you ready?" Taco replies, "Yes." Nobody uses his unnatural strength to jump up against the side of the building and starts running up the ninety degree angle. Nobody was strong, but he had Taco's help with climbing the building. The small possum could control gravity and his new ability has been put to good use.
They quickly reach a row of windows on the twelfth floor and Nobody peeks in. The occupied room has some lab equipment and a disassembled transformation booth. With a smile, Nobody says, "Naughty naughty, that's not authorized at all." Holding his fist up, Nobody tells Taco, "Maximum force." Nobody starts to breathe heavily as his body weight triples. With a leap he jumps sideways into the air and slams his fist into the floor to ceiling laminated double sheet of glass. It shatters and he presses his feet against it as it caves into the building. Taco quickly releases gravity and Nobody kicks the shattered glass sheet against the far wall.
The two men look at the intruder with gaping mouths. Nobody says, "Good evening gentlemen. Tampering with a transformation booth is a very serious crime. Did you want me to break your arms or legs?" One of the men runs for the door and Nobody grabs a chair to fling at him. Taco recoils as he watches the chair hit the man with a sickening amount of force. The other man holds his hands up in surrender.
The man asks, "Who the fuck are you?" Showing his chimpanzee teeth, Nobody answers, "I'm Nobody." Nobody elbows the backpack with Taco and points to the ceiling. Taco flips the gravity slowly and Nobody walks across the ceiling surveying the parts strewn across the room. Nobody says, "Your buddy doesn't look too good from up here." The other man lays on the floor moaning. His arm is bent awkwardly where it was broken by the chair hitting him.
Nobody walks over to above the standing man and orders, "Close your eyes and make a wish." Nobody jumps into the air and punches the man in the head, knocking him out.
Taco looks over the disassembled booth and asks, "How does the Doctor know someone is tinkering with a transformation booth?" Nobody says, "They broke the seal on the warranty sticker." Taco can't tell if Nobody was being sarcastic or not. With what Taco has gathered about Doctor Z, he assumes Nobody meant the Doctor puts magical booby traps inside each one to monitor them.
With a smile, Nobody finds an innocuous looking part. They float down to the floor. He tucks the small metal box into the baby carrier with Taco. Using all his strength, Nobody picks up the main part of the booth and throws it towards the large broken window. It is caught on the edge of the next sheet of glass. With annoyance, Nobody gives the large booth a kick and it clatters against the ground below when it hits. Nobody starts throwing other parts of the booth, computers, and tools out the window. Taco was told they needed to do this to draw attention from investigators.
When Nobody is happy with the wholesale destruction, he says to Taco, "Time to make our exit." The man on the floor holds his broken arm and asks, "Why did you do this?" Nobody turns his back towards the man and Taco the Possum exclaims, "You know why!"
Running toward the opposite side of the building, Nobody jumps into the window. It's laminated surface cracks and bulges outward as Taco increases the force against it. The glass finally gives and they fall towards the ground below. Taco feels panic course through him at Nobody's recklessness. The Chimp spreads his arms and legs out as Taco works to slow them down. A few feet from the ground they come to a full stop.
Nobody is almost disappointed to not be splattered against the ground. He places his feet against the ground and walks down the sidewalk nonchalantly. Taco says, "You almost got us killed." Nobody says, "Us? I would have been fine regardless of whether you stopped me or not." Taco huffs and sits quietly in his backpack.
Back at the headquarters, Taco carries the small metal box in his paws and floats down the long hallway to Doctor Z's room. He taps the metal box against the door to knock. Doctor Z opens the door and reveals his terrifying visage. Taco didn't know what was wrong with the doctor, but all he could see of him was a flat black shadow with glowing purple eyes and white teeth. It was like watching a TV with a flat black shape censoring the man's body.
Taco says, "We completed the mission." Doctor Z holds a black shadow of a hand out and Taco floats up to place the small box in it. Taco asks, "Why did we have to hurt those people?" Doctor Z replies, "You didn't have to hurt them at all. I only wanted this box back." Doctor Z sets the box down and asks, "What did Nobody tell you?" Taco answers, "He told me I needed to help him get that box at any cost."
Doctor Z rubs a shadowy hand on his head and says, "He is the child that is always trying to impress his parents by going above and beyond." Taco asks, "What does the box do?" Doctor Z replies, "Lots of things. But in terms you might understand, it's a data recorder."
Doctor Z picks the box up from the table and rubs it like he were rubbing a magic lamp. It glows and Taco hears the two men Nobody beat up speaking. Doctor Z places the box next to his head and waves off Taco dismissively. Taco floats out the door and pulls it closed behind him. His mind is full of thoughts as he floats down the long hallway.
A few days later, Taco is on another mission. He floats through the air beside Ishi the Whitetail Deer. Ishi's antlers were tree branches with little leaves swaying in the breeze. The buck's fur was a very light color. He was very majestic and regal looking. Taco asks, "Why did you need to bring me along?" Ishi looks around the forest they are walking through and answers, "I didn't. I just wanted company. I don't much care for the others. Fang acts too smart for his own good. Nobody is a hothead. Sleepy is always having an existential crisis. Cactus and I usually team up but all she wants to do is complain." Taco knew a few people like that at the petting zoo.
Ishi finds the spot in the forest they were looking for. Looking up at the extremely large tree, he places his antler against it. The tree shakes and a single blue fruit sprouts from it's branch. Ishi asks, "Be a pal and put that in my saddle bag?" Taco floats up to the pear shaped fruit and plucks it off the branch. He drops it in one of the bags hanging across Ishi's back. Taco asks, "What was that?" Ishi says, "Part of that trees life force." Taco has seen enough lately to know not to question weird answers.
Taco asks, "How do you usually pick the fruit, if I wasn't here to fly up to it?" Ishi continues walking and answers, "I just ask nicely and it drops itself into my bag. Very risky though. Trees have terrible depth perception." Taco doesn't know what to make of that answer either.
They continue along the forest and Ishi says, "We might as well say hello to my Father while we are out here." They walk for a few minutes and come to a deer skull embedded in a tree trunk. Taco watches quietly as Ishi says his hellos. Ishi looks over to Taco and says, "I know it's weird talking to a skull, but I like to think he lives on somewhere in his tree after he lost control." Taco asks, "He had a tree in his head like you do?" Ishi replies, "Yes and he was a very caring guardian of the forest. I guess he passed the title of guardian to me when he died."
Ishi tells Taco about his father, "He always told me to stay away from humans because they are only trouble and to never show myself to them. Forty years ago, the talking animals started showing up in my forest. Father never mentioned what to do in that situation. I was so lonely after he died that I befriended the former humans and learned about how the outside world had changed from what my father described it as."
Digging a hoove at the ground, Ishi explains, "It was amazing to learn that the humans had started to learn from the errors of their ways. With the spread of the transformation technology, people were more conscious of the balance of nature. My new friends helped me stop any threats so there really isn't much to do after we had the forest declared a nature preserve."
Taco touches the skull with a paw and feels the slight tingle of magic in it. Ishi continues, "Maybe someday I'll find me a nice doe to have kids with to pass on the title." Ishi lets a teardrop fall onto the roots of the tree and they quietly walk away.
Taco asks, "How did you meet the Doctor?" Ishi thinks for a second and replies, "People thought I was a mutation that happened with the transformation process but my father was around long before people started getting transformed. They told me about a place that studied unusual animals. With the forest secure, I decided to go see if the doctor could find more of my kind." Taco floats backwards in front of Ishi and asks, "Have you found any?" Ishi shakes his head no sadly.
Ishi says, "The doctor said I will eventually end up like my father. He wanted to cure me by turning me into a human." Tacos eyes go wide. Transforming someone into a human was extremely illegal. Ishi sees Taco's look and says, "I could be the last of my kind and he offered to make me a useless human!" Ishi closes his eyes in anger and a crimson red flower blooms on his tree branch antler. Ishi looks up at it and asks, "Would you mind putting that in my pack for me? Janet does enjoy the rare flowers." Taco floats up to pluck the flower and drops it into the pack beside the strange fruit.
Back at the lab, Taco holds the fruit tightly in his paws as he floats to Doctor Z. Taco wonders what the doctor is going to do with the fruit. The Doctor leaves it on a table and says, "I bet you're wanting some sort of reward for your continued service. Did you want me to modify your body or help you branch your powers out?" Taco carefully asks, "Can you make me a human?" Doctor Z points to the transformation booth in the corner and casually says, "Sure, hop in."
At the school for half breed animals that his mother forced him to attend, Taco remembers someone asking the human teacher about the Transformation Booths. She had went on and on explaining the ethical rules and laws concerning them.
The first big rule was: Patients need to consent to the transformation verbally or via a living will. Taco was sad to think people didn't plan ahead and their families had to watch them die because of a lack of consent. Taco could attest to several animals at the petting zoo being forced to work there because of living wills they signed on a whim long ago.
The second big rule was: No transforming into a human. Connect a transformation booth up to the internet and you could download blueprints to make someone almost every living animal larger than a kitten. The only major species missing was homo sapien. It would be a criminal's dream to be able to change their identity so thoroughly and some smart people were dumb enough to attempt to reverse engineer a way to make that happen. That was part of the reason Nobody beat the shit out of the two men. The doctor didn't like people tampering with his company's transformation booths.
Doctor Z was probably the only person in the world to have the know how to make a human. Taco has doubts that the Doctor was even a human himself anymore. He was humanoid sure, but why was everyone sending Taco to interact with him. In fact, Taco has never seen anyone besides Fang ever go down the long hallway to visit the Doctor's room. Everyone else always waits by the outside door.
A thought crosses Taco's mind, 'Could Doctor Z be dangerous? If he was willing to break a United Nations treaty on a whim, what else would he do?' Selfishness overtakes the thought. Almost everyone Taco lived with at the petting zoo used to be a human. They told stories that always started with, 'Back when I was human'. Taco didn't choose to become a possum like they chose to be Felines, Canines, and Ursines. Taco's resentment of his birth mother abandoning him because he was a half breed, comes boiling to the surface.
With a crazy smile, Taco floats into the booth. Since he had a chance to pick, why wouldn't he pick the one thing that every Non-Feral Animal wishes they could be again. Doctor Z closes the door to the transformation booth while saying, "This shouldn't take long." Taco drops to the floor and clenches the muscles in his tiny body unsure of what is about to happen.
Doctor Z slides a palm across the door of the booth while thinking about what he wanted the possum to look like. Deciding that Taco reminded him of his younger brother, Doctor Z visualizes a very old photo of his family in his head. Doctor Z focuses on the image of his dead brother when he was a child and places both palms against a sigil on the door. The room crackles with magic as the booth hums to life.
Taco starts to have second thoughts about what he was doing as the rumble shakes his small body. With a flash of light, Taco sees spots in his vision as the booth winds down. Taco can't see anything through the mist surrounding him. He doesn't feel any different but people always described the transformation process to feel like that afterwards.
The doctor exhales a cloud of purple smoke as he leans against the booth. He uses a black hand to wave it away as he pulls the door open. The smoke clears and the small possum looks up at him. Taco looks at his pink possum paws and feels up his hairy muzzle. Taco asks, "Did it not work?" Doctor Z plucks Taco off the ground by his tail and eyeballs the possum.
Setting Taco down in the middle of the floor the Doctor orders, "Become a human now." Taco doesn't know what the Doctor means. Focusing his inhuman purple eyes on Taco the doctor yells, "Show me your human body!" Taco meekly replies, "I don't think it worked?" The doctor shows his white teeth and says, "It worked." Picking up an obsidian dagger from the table, Doctor Z holds it threateningly towards Taco.
Fear courses through Taco as the doctor walks towards him with the blade. Taco scrambles backwards to get away from the doctor. Doctor Z threatens, "I'll cut him out of you." Running between the legs of a table. Taco adjusts his gravity and jumps onto the wall to scurry to the ceiling. The rage wells up within Doctor Z as the possum refuses to cooperate. The doctor throws the dagger at Taco and it quickly comes to a stop an inch from the possum's white face.
Taco yells, "I don't know what you want me to do!" Doctor Z growls, "Give him to me!" Taco has tears in his eyes as the Doctor picks up a thick book and throws it at Taco. The possum could stop one projectile but he had trouble with two. The book flutters open and slams into the dagger. The blade cuts Taco's face as the book flutters to the floor. The pain focuses what Taco needed to do. Reaching his suddenly human hand out, Taco grasps the handle of the blade and jumps off the corner of the wall towards the doctor.
The Doctor smiles widely at Taco and holds his arms out. The naked human boy plunges the dagger into the humanoid shadow's purple eye as they crash together. The doctor hugs Taco to him and says, "It is good to see your face again, Zeeb." Purple blood pours down the doctor and covers Taco's young human body. Taco pushes the doctor away and scrambles on all four towards the door. He looks at his hand and then at the doctor. Taco yells, "I'm sorry!"
The door flings open and bashes the wall as Taco tries to run on all four like he was used to. The floor of the long white hallway to the doctor's room is covered in purple hand and footprints as Taco runs away. He slams a hand on the open button of the second door and Ishi stands shocked at the sight of the pale naked child covered in purple blood.
Ishi asks, "What just happened?" Taco pushes the door closed and cries, "Ishi, he tried to kill me!" Ishi stares at Taco's human face and says, "From all that purple filth on you, it doesn't look like he was successful." Taco asks, "Am I a murderer now? They don't even send our kind to prison." Taco cries his eyes out and the tears wash away streaks of drying blood on his face. Ishi says, "They're not going to euthanize you." Ishi mutters, "They would have to prove Doctor Zaytsev was alive first."
In the room, Doctor Z feels the knife sticking out of his eye. He crawls across the floor and presses the intercom call button.
Fang the Blue Saber Tooth Tiger comes running down the hall and slides to a stop in front of the naked human. He yells, "What the fuck is going on? Who the fuck is this?" Ishi answers, "It's Taco." Fang sniffs at Taco then uses a paw to roughly bat Taco away from the door. Taco rolls a few feet down the hallway and pleads with Fang, "I'm sorry! He was trying to kill me!" Fang swipes his microchip and runs into the hallway towards the doctor.
Ishi looks at Taco's human body, he looked to be about 11 years old. His hairless pale white body and short brown hair look pretty standard for a human. Ishi had limited experience with children and asks, "Are you otherwise okay?" Taco smears the purple blood further as he uses his new hands to feel around his body. Ishi frowns as Taco answers "I think so."
Ishi says, "Let's go get you cleaned up." Taco grips Ishi's saddle bag and staggers beside him.
They walk a few doors down to find an emergency shower/eyewash station. A doctor that Taco has seen around a few times sees the dirty naked boy enter the room and asks, "Did you get a little messy with your peanut butter and grape jelly?" Ishi says, "Doctor Hedge, please take this seriously. Something has happened with Taco." The man looks over the naked boy and asks, "That's Taco Supreme, the Possum? Oh geez. I thought Doctor Z would cause less trouble locked away in that room. What has he been up to?"
Taco answers, "He made me a human." Hedge asks, "Like, on purpose?" Taco nods. Hedge sighs and says, "Let's deal with the ramifications of that later." Taco holds onto a railing as the Doctor reaches over and pulls the cord to dump water on Taco. Ishi says, "I'm not too sure how humans clean themselves. Should we be using soap?" Hedge shakes his head and says, "Let's just get him rinsed off for now." Taco shivers as the cold water dilutes the purple blood and it swirls around the drain.
Dr Hedge says, "Use those new hands and rub yourself clean." Taco is unsure and gently rubs his dirty skin. It feels numb without the fur pulling his skin around. Looking between his legs, Taco asks, "Is this part normal? All the naked humans I've seen had a lot more fur." Hedge replies, "You look a bit too young to be growing hair in such places." Ishi looks around the room for something to cover Taco with. Dr Hedge uses a handful of paper towels to dry the boy off.
Taco walks around the room and asks, "I wonder what my mom would say about me becoming a human?" Ishi finds a spare lab coat and says, "Wear this." Taco replies, "I'm not cold." Hedge rolls his eyes and informs Taco, "I know we do a lot of questionable stuff around the facility, but it will make everyone uncomfortable to see a naked human child walking around." Hedge wraps the white lab coat around Taco and buttons it closed. Taco squirms at the feeling on his skin and doesn't like it.
Ishi asks, "Can you still float?" Taco closes his eyes to feel around for the switches inside his mind. He gives a few hops and stays in the air for longer and longer. Taco answers "I think so, but there is something else." Taco imagines a new slider beside the old sliders that help him control gravity. He makes it move slowly and feels a wave wash over his body.
The creamy smooth skin slowly grows out possum fur as Taco keeps moving the switch. Ishi and Hedge watch in concern as Taco slowly morphs into a possum. The mental slider clicks into place around the middle and Taco says, "What do I look like?" Hedge quickly unbuttons the lab coat and looks at Taco's anthro body. He exclaims, "You're a were-possum now?" Ishi says, "I heard tales of the were-creatures from my father." Taco wraps his long possum tail around Hedge's hand and giggles.
Taco bounces on his digitigrade legs and uses his arms to pull off the uncomfortable lab coat. With a smug grin, Taco asks, "Does this mean I don't have to wear this now?" Hedge's eyes dart down to Taco's crotch. The fluffy grey fur obscured most everything. Hedge takes away the lab coat and rubs his hand along the fur on Taco's belly. Taco enjoys the petting.
Reaching up to his head, Taco runs his hands along his muzzle and says, "Let me try some more." Taco finds the slider in his mind and finishes moving it to the end. He quickly shrinks down to his former self. Taco exclaims, "This is great!" He slides back into his anthro form and continues to touch is body in places he never used to be able to reach as a non-anthro.
Fang comes sniffing after the blood trail and enters the room. He sees the four foot tall possum and narrows his eyes. Taco hides behind Hedge as the tiger approaches. Fang growls, "Doctor Z told me everything. He would like to have a word with you." Peeking out from behind Hedge, Taco asks, "He's alive?" Fang nods and answers, "The Doctor is very resilient." Taco looks at Ishi and the deer says, "I'll wait outside for you."
Taco waves goodbye to Dr Hedge and walks on all four out of the room. Hedge calls after Taco, "Have some self respect and walk upright on your two legs." Taco was just so used to walking on all four it didn't occur to him he didn't have to. Taco stands up and leans a hand on Ishi to get a feel for walking upright.
Ishi waits with Fang as the anthro possum retraces the bloody hand and footprints towards the doctor's room. Taco looks at the closed door and turns the knob to enter. Doctor Z is sitting on a table holding the bloody dagger. He looks up at Taco with one glowing purple eye. Taco stands in the doorway ready to bolt away. Doctor Z sets the blade down and says, "We both made mistakes." Taco walks towards the doctor and says, "I'm so sorry! Are you mad at me?"
The spot on the black shadow where his missing eye used to be was just black. Doctor Z quietly says, "No. Just turn into a human for me." Not wanting to start a fight again, Taco shifts into his new human form. The Doctor holds a hand out and says, "Zeeb was my dead brother. Making you look like him was a mistake. My desire to see his form made me lose control." Taco lets the doctor run a hand across his chin and says, "Taco, I can take it back if you want. No one deserves to wear a dead man's face."
Taco shifts to his anthro form and says, "No. I'm really starting to like this form." Taco reaches his clawed hand around to pet his own back. Taco says, "I can now pet myself where I couldn't before." Doctor Z runs a black hand through the fur and says, "Enjoy your new body." Taco replies, "Thank you Doctor Z."
In the hallway, Fang briefs Ishi on the situation, "Don't tell the rest of the team about what happened. We'll just pretend this little incident never happened." Ishi looks blankly at Fang and replies, "The rest of the team deserves to know what the Doctor did." Fang bares his teeth and says, "It's none of their damn business." The leaves on Ishi's antlers russell as the deer shakes his head and says, "Secrets and mistruths are the way of the humans. I will tell everyone so they have a complete picture of what type of monster the doctor is."
Ishi had enough power to win a fight against Fang. The tiger was helpless to stop Ishi from doing what he wanted. Taco opens the door and Ishi says, "Come along and we will show the others what you have become. Ishi lowers his back and motions for Taco to climb on. Placing a leg on either side of Ishi's strong back, Taco rides the deer through the facility. Fang stares after them angrily.
Taco holds his long pink tail in his hands and picks at it. He finally says, "The doctor didn't seem mad I stabbed him in the eye." Ishi looks back and says, "He is incomprehensible to me too." Walking past an office, Ishi looks into the glass door. He sees a woman with short black hair and thick square glasses. He smiles and asks, "Taco could you pull out the flower from my pack?" Taco reaches down beside his thigh to the crimson flower he plucked from Ishi's tree branch antler earlier that day. Ishi takes the flower in his mouth and pushes open the door.
The woman named Janet looks up from her paperwork and eyes the large possum riding upright on Ishi's back. Ishi strolls up to the desk and sets the crimson flower in front of Janet. She smiles and says, "Thank you Ishi. Who's your friend?" Taco smiles and says, "It's me, Taco Supreme!" Janet frowns and says, "I remember you being a lot smaller." Ishi says, "The good doctor decided to make improvements to him." Janet shakes her head.
Janet picks up the flower and smells it. The smell triggers memories of a fight she had with her aging father. Janet asks, "You visited your father and got angry about something?" Ishi answers, "Yes." Janet sticks the flower in a vase on her desk and says, "Not that I don't appreciate the flower, but couldn't you bottle up happy emotions?" Ishi says, "You make me happy, I'll try to make one while thinking of you."
Janet blushes and reaches across the desk to pet Ishi's pale furred neck. Ishi thinks, 'If only I could convince her to get transformed. We would live out our lives as the king and queen of the forest.' Taco waits quietly as Ishi shares a moment with Janet.
After a few minutes, Taco rides Ishi into the dorms. Nobody the chimpanzee looks up from a comic book he is reading and says, "My my, when Fang took off sprinting out of here, I knew something was wrong. What did the doctor do to you?" Taco climbs off Ishi and answers, "He made me a were-possum." Rubbing a hand on his chin, Nobody looks over the possum and says, "It could be worse. Luna didn't get off so lucky."
Ishi informs Nobody, "The doctor lost control of himself and almost killed Taco. Luckily, Taco knows how to defend himself and sent the doctor a message that we are not his toys to do with as he pleases." Taco says, "I stabbed him in the eye." Nobody whistles and says, "People say I can be brutal. Is the boss dead?" Ishi replies, "Unfortunately, no."
Nobody says, "Your first attempted murder. They grow up so fast." Sleepy the bear rolls over in his bed and pokes his purple furred muzzle out from under his sheet. He eyes the possum and says, "Didn't take you for the violent type." Ishi quickly says, "It was self defense." Taco wants something to take his mind off the horrible thing he did in the heat of the moment and asks, "Where's Luna? I want to show her what I can do." Nobody says, "In the basement like always."
Making his way out of the dormitory, Taco heads to the stairs. He has fun going down the stairs on two legs. He always hated the chore of stairs when he was a non-anthro possum. A happy feeling fills Taco when he realises he could navigate the world around him without any hassles now. In the basement, Taco walks down the deserted hallway to find Luna's workspace. He looks at his humanoid hand and tries to remember how he has seen humans knock on doors. There was so much he wanted to learn now.
Giving a few light taps on the door, Taco gets the hang of it quickly. He used to just slap his tail against the door. A enthusiastic female voice asks in a sing song voice, "Who is it?" Taco answers, "It's me! Taco Supreme." The door swings open to a living skeleton. Most people would scream in terror if they weren't ready to meet Lunate. Her body was comprised of bones from multiple animals including: A wolf's skull with glowing green eyes, human arms, and a deer's legs.
She slides her skeleton fingers down the door frame as she studies the anthro possum. Her jaw doesn't move when she talks, "Taco? What happened?" Taco says with excitement, "I'm a were-possum now!" Luna opens the door fully and invites Taco inside. Luna says, "That's impressive. Let me get a closer look at you." Luna gets down on one knee and starts feeling up Taco's bone structure. She starts with his head and presses her fingers against his skull. She moves to his hands and squeezes the flesh along each finger.
Luna compliments, "You have a very beautiful bone structure." Taco giggles at the weird compliment. Luna squeezes his sides and feels up his rib cage. Taco can't tell what Luna is thinking through her permanent poker face. She reaches behind to run a finger down his spine and stops at the tail. She says, "This is very impressive work making something original that is neither one thing or another."
Luna asks, "You said were-possum. Does that mean you can shift?" Taco smiles and slowly shifts into a boy. Luna looks down at the very naked human boy and says, "A good were-creature always packs a pair of shorts for modesty." Taco doesn't really know what the big deal is. He shifts to non-anthro and floats in the air in front of Luna. She pets him and says, "That's the Taco I know." Taco shifts to anthro and announces, "I like this best! It's still me, but improved."
Hugging her arms around Taco affectionately, Luna says, "You're different now, but you're just as cute!" Taco returns the hug. Luna lets go and stands back up.
Taco spots a half finished display of a griffin's skeleton. It was the same griffin Taco saw laying dead in Doctor Z's room the first day he came here. If she didn't die, Nobody and Fang wouldn't have visited Flappy the Griffin and Taco would have never had the chance to hitch a ride through a portal to come here.
Luna goes over to it and sits down to continue working. Taco asks, "Where do griffins come from?" Luna answers, "The Eastern Mediterranean. But they went extinct three thousand years ago." Taco asks "If they are extinct, where did this one come from then?" Luna replies, "Los Angeles. At least, that's where she was living when she died." Taco asks, "How did she die?" Luna answers, "She was the second griffin Doctor Z stitched together. He wasn't very good at it yet and might have left some minor defects that compounded over time. She lived a wonderful life for a few months at least."
Taco gently touches a bone and asks, "Would you put my bones on display if I die?" Luna boops Taco's nose and says, "If you stay in that form when you die, I would be honored to help you live on forever in a secret museum. Otherwise, a regular possum or a human child wouldn't really draw much interest." Taco looks at Luna's skull and asks, "Would someone try to bring me back to life like you were?" Luna answers, "Oh heavens no! I like you too much to curse you to live like that."
Thinking over the words, Taco asks, "Curse?" Luna nods "Yeah. Want me to tell you a story?" Taco didn't like Luna's stories, they always made him feel sad. He nods a yes for Luna's sake because his aunt Scarlet once told him that sometimes people just needed to talk about sad things to get over them.
Luna begins, "A long time ago, before people forgot how to do magic. There were bad people that went around cursing people on whims. You might know story books tales about princesses or princes that got turned into something and had to overcome their personal flaws to undo their curse?" Taco asks, "Like the frog prince?" Luna replies, "Yes exactly! Did you know that the transformation booth works the same way?"
Taco is interested in the story now. Luna continues, "The booth curses people into animal forms just like in those stories. That's why for some, it takes a long time for them to be able to get transformed again. They have to wait for the curse locking them into that form to wear off." Taco asks, "What kind of curse do you have?"
Luna isn't too sure how many of these secrets she should be telling Taco. She answers, "The undead curse. I'm a Lich specifically." Taco isn't too sure what that means and asks, "What's a Lich?" Luna knows she is telling the kid too much, but he was the first person who really connected with her in a long time.
With hesitation, Luna explains, "We bound my intellect and soul to a special object. As long as it is in one piece. I will continue to live." She looks at Taco and then the griffin's half built skeleton to say, "Taco, I trust you very much and there is something I wanted to do. Can I trust you to follow my instructions very carefully?" Taco nods vigorously. He would do anything for Luna.
Raising a hand to point at the bottom of the Griffin's skull, Luna says, "You see this hole? I want you to take me out of this body and put me in her's." Taco's eyes go wide as Luna twists her wolf skull at a sharp angle. She points at a round metal plug in the same type of hole at the base of her skull. Luna says, "Carefully pull the tube out. And plug me in over there." It was a huge risk for Luna to body swap. She once had researchers ask her to demonstrate how it works and lost several days of time when they took her to a lab for study instead of the new body.
Taco is really nervous about what Luna wants him to do. Taco reaches up to touch the plug. It tingles his fingers. Luna says, "Just like stealing the batteries from one thing to power another. I'll be fine. Just give it a twist and pull." Taco pulls at the metal and feels it start to loosen. The green glow from Luna's eyes fade as the skeleton locks into place. Taco grips the tube with both hands as it slides out. He holds what looks like a fancy glow stick in his palms.
The room is quiet and Taco's pulse races. He reaches up to the half finished model and pokes what Luna called her battery into the griffin's skull. The griffin's eye sockets start to glow green as Taco slides it in. The griffin speaks, "Be sure to give it a twist to lock it in." Taco twists the battery into place and gives it a gentle pull to make sure it wasn't going to slide out when he let go.
Luna tilts her new head and looks down at the half finished body. The pile of bones start to move and reassemble themselves behind her. Taco watches in fascination as the skeleton assembles itself. Luna steps down off the table and says, "That saved me hours of work putting her together." Luna flaps her wings. The bones look like a pair of scythes sticking up. She twists the wing bones around and uses them for probes as she taps her spine.
Luna asks, "Do you see how shoddy the workmanship is on these bones?" Taco looks at the very different looking bones of the lion half connecting from the spine. Luna continues to berate Doctor Z's work, "I told him he needs to mingle the separate bodies on the inside more." Taco touches the tip of the tail and Luna asks, "Is it after 6pm yet? I never could get a feel for the passage of time after losing the fleshy bits that get tired." Luna uses the wing bones to open the door and look around.
She says, "I don't keep any clocks in here because they would just distract me. Did you know one time I was so engrossed in a project a whole week passed without me noticing?" Luna looks at the clock at the end of the hall and sees it read 6:15 PM. Luna folds the wings into a saddle for Taco. She says, "Everyone has gone home for the day, it's time to play." Taco climbs on the saddle and Luna adjusts it so her spine wasn't poking him in the butt.
Flexing her four legs she gets a feel for how they bend and says, "Grab a scapula and hold on." Taco asks, "What do I need a spatula for?" If Luna had eyes they would be rolling. Luna says, "Just grab the long bones in front of you." Luna begins trotting down the hall. The bones click against the floor as she goes. Picking up speed, she turns a corner. Luna says, "Do the thing I saw you do with Fang."
Taco starts to rotate the gravity and Luna jumps against the right wall. She doesn't care about leaving prints on the wall as she runs and jumps over doorways. She comes to a intersection and slows to a stop. She looks down at the hallway now turned into a pit. Taco says, "Let's go down there." Taco was quite the sight. An anthro possum riding the skeleton of a mythical creature. Luna jumps into a backflip to slowly glide down the pit.
A man down the hall opens and quickly closes a door when he realizes that the weird shit comes out around here after hours. Luna agreed to stay in her room from 6AM to 6PM. The 9 to 5 crowd knew not to linger after hours. Taco could never get enough of helping people fly. He can sense the happiness radiating off Luna as she glides down the hall. Luna asks, "Floor please?"
They rotate to trot along the floor and Luna climbs the staircase. Taco says, "You never did finish your story about curses." Luna talks as they walk, "Oh yeah. I found a way to cheat death but of course everything feels very numb."
Luna continues "I wanted to tell you about missing the pleasures of the flesh but you just convinced me the pleasure of the mind can compensate." Luna pauses mid step and asks, "You're old enough to know about sex right?" Taco answers, "The animals at the petting zoo had sex ALL the time. I tried to ask a few of them to have some with me, but they always said I wasn't old enough. I settled for watching in secret most of the time."
Luna chuckles and says, "Well the moral of the story is, keep and cherish your body. Being a skeleton isn't that much fun." Taco wonders why she tells him that despite having the time of her life running through the halls. She happily walks out an exit and lays down in the grass with Taco. It feels weird to lay in the grass flat on his back like a human would. Taco pulls his tail between his legs and feels it.
The courtyard is surrounded on all four sides by buildings, so even if the compound wasn't surrounded by fences and armed guards, they wouldn't have to worry about being seen. Looking over the wiry grey hair on Taco's anthro body, Luna asks, "Are you going to stay like that now?" Taco runs a hand down his fluffy chest and answers, "Yeah, it just feels right." Taco shifts to his human form and Luna quickly says, "You can't be outside like that." Taco rolls through the grass and says, "It feels so weird. I can feel everything against my skin." Luna looks around nervously and says, "Okay, now change back before someone sees you."
Taco asks, "Why?" Luna says, "Despite the weird creatures around here, humans are strictly off limits. If anyone sees you change into a human, I don't know what would happen to you." Taco shifts back into an anthro and asks, "Fang told me I had to hide my abilities, but do I need to hide this?"
Luna runs her taloned bird leg through Taco's fur and says, "The world is not ready for that. That's what Doctor Z is doing with the mythical creatures. He's slowly trying to change the world's opinion on what is normal." Taco looks into Luna's glowing green eyes and asks, "When will the world be ready for something like you?"
Luna looks down at the grass between her feet and answers, "The world will never be ready for me." Taco asks, "Why not?" Luna answers, "I defy the natural order of life and death. It would only cause problems if people knew about me."
With sadness Taco asks, "I can stay like this though?" Luna looks over his cute anthro body and answers, "Around the compound is fine but we'll see about the outside world." Taco changes the subject, "I really like spending time with you Luna." Luna replies, "I like spending time with you too." Taco asks "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Luna is stunned. She hasn't thought about something like that in several years. Taco truly was an unbiased child and that's what she liked about him. Despite being extremely older than him, Luna says, "Sure. But let's have an open relationship. There are physical things I don't want you to deny yourself for my sake." Taco isn't too sure what an open relationship is and will ask Cactus later.
That night in the dorms, Fang pokes Taco awake with a large paw. Taco opens his eyes to look into Fang's glowing blue eyes. Fang announces, "Something urgent came up. I need you to come with me. Climb on." Taco climbs on Fang's back and the large blue saber tooth tiger quickly trots towards the indoor pool.
Taco rubs his hand across his face and asks, "What's going on?" Fang answers, "I will explain everything when we get there. I need to concentrate right now." Fang climbs the tall ladder to the diving platform while Taco holds on tight .
Fang jumps into the pool with Taco riding on his back. The tiger swims through the water portal towards their destination. The light hurts Taco's eyes, so he closes them tight and hangs on for the ride. With a splash they eject and land on solid ground again.
Taco looks around at the night's sky highlighted by a red glowing haze of smoke. The buildings around him are crumbling and burned out. Everything looks familiar but destroyed. Taco grips the fur on Fang's back in terror. Fang rolls on the ground to make Taco either let go of him or get crushed. Taco hops away and Fang says, "I lied. This is the punishment for what you did. The doctor might forgive you, but I won't. You won't survive long here. Goodbye." Fang jumps up into a backflip and splashes back into the pond. Taco isn't fast enough to catch him and Fang has disappeared.
The possibilities race through Taco's mind. Why was his former home, the petting zoo, in such a state. Fang must have stranded him in a hellish alternate dimension. Taco hears a roar and quickly looks around for a weapon. Of course Fang would leave him in the most dangerous place. Taco picks up a metal fence post in his hand. He wonder's what could have caused the entire fence to bend and break like that?
The answer finds him. A large polar bear with claw scars covering most of its body comes lumpering towards him. Taco naively asks, "Uncle Philthy, is that you?" The bear's only response is to charge. Taco tries to fly away but Fang must have done something to block his powers. Having no choice, Taco flings the metal fence post at the bear and starts running away. It makes a loud 'tink' as it rebounds off the bear's thick skull.
Taco decides the best place to find a better weapon would be Uncle Philthy's room at the maintenance building. He appreciates his new body being able to move faster than his four legged one ever did. Taco sees dead animals littering the path. Philthy must have killed them during his rampage. Taco doesn't want to look too closely. It would just slow him down if he recognizes one of them.
Philthy gives chase as Taco makes his way across the park. The maintenance building still looks mostly in one piece as he pulls at the locked front door. Taco is well past panic when the door doesn't open. He hears the bear approaching him and turns to face him. Taco tries to think of a plan and can feel the slider that controls his body. Fang didn't block that power thankfully.
Taco waits for Philthy to get close enough and dives between his legs as he shrinks to his non-anthro form. Taco scurries under Philthy and towards the alley beside the building. He knew the backdoor didn't lock properly and has seen Philthy open it by pressing on it in just the right way. The bear looks around trying to find his prey. He sniffs the ground and follows the stench of fear radiating off Taco.
The alley is dark and foreboding as Taco switches back to anthro. He knows he doesn't have long as he pulls debris away from the door. Taco uses all his strength to push on the corner of the door. It slightly bends yet doesn't pop open. Taco feels rage at being a useless four foot tall were-possum. Taco reaches for his gravity controls and rages as they are locked into place. He feels around the mental control panel for anything else to help him. He wonders how Fang could lock away only half his powers.
Taco starts to feel the presence of something else in his mind. Attached to the track of the body control slider is a new direction. Taco feels power and strength in the third direction. He pushes the slider in that direction and it starts to move. Taco feels his body get larger. Philthy comes around the corner and gives pause at the new creature that is just as big as him. Taco looks at his now muscular arm and can feel the power as he presses against the door.
The door bends in it's frame and swings open to reveal a hallway blocked with rubble. Taco turns towards the slowly approaching bear and looks at the large claws on his paws. Philthy doesn't look as large anymore. Taco growls, "I'm not the little kid I used to be." Philthy roars and Taco glances at the entrance to the alley. There was nothing he could do but stand his ground and stop Philthy.
Taco doesn't have any idea how to fight beyond biting and scratching. He thinks back to a video of a man wrestling a bear. The human wrapped an arm around the bear's neck from behind and caused him to go to sleep.
Philthy stands up and swings his claws at Taco. Dodging to one side, Taco manages to get behind Philthy. Taco uses his new size to wrap his beefy arms around Philthy's neck. Taco presses his body against the bear's back and says, "I don't want to have to kill you!" Philthy claws at Taco's bicep and forearm trying to get away. Taco can't even feel it.
Taco is afraid he isn't doing it right and starts squeezing harder. A sickening gurgle comes from Philthy as his air is cut off. The bear's struggle intensifies before it starts weakening. Soon the polar bear goes limp in his arms. Taco breathes heavily as he lets go. Philthy falls to the alleyway floor in an ungraceful heap.
High above the dreamworld, Fang and Sleepy look down at the model of the petting zoo that Taco was running around in. Fang yells, "WHAT THE FUCK?!" They watched the figure of Taco transform into a hulking monster of a were-possum and strangle the polar bear. Sleepy says, "He's more powerful than anyone could have guessed."
Fang asks, "What else do you have to throw at him?" Looking at a box full of figures. He pulls out a figure of a non-anthro possum and says, "I could torment him by having him talk to his perception of the mother that abandoned him?" Fang slaps the figure out of Sleepy's paw and says, "I want to terrorize him not emotionally distress him." Digging through a box of figures labeled 'fears', Sleepy holds up a large zombie wolf from a movie Taco once watched. Fang nods and says, "Can't do that trick again, if they don't breathe."
Taco walks toward the entranceway of the alley and sees a large zombie wolf. Taco looks down on it from his height of seven and a half feet. It's jaw hangs open and Taco looks at it's glowing red eyes in annoyance. Taco makes a fist and jumps through the air slamming it down on the creatures skull. With a pop, green blood splatters the sidewalk like a balloon being popped.
In the control room, Sleepy says, "That was anticlimactic." Fang yells, "No Shit! It was probably pretty scary when he was a tiny possum. After fighting a polar bear why did you think only one Zombie Wolf would do anything?" Sleepy answers, "Scale is distorted with these figures. I assumed it would be bigger."
In the park, Taco hears the voice of Park Director Swanson over the speaker system, "Attention employees! A zombie virus outbreak has been reported, so all deceased animals can, uhhh, stop being dead?" The animal corpses littering the park start standing up on wobbly legs and converging on Taco's position. Taco looks at the sea of glowing red eyes now walking towards him.
Taco grabs the wolf corpse in front of him and throws it at a window of the maintenance building. The glass splinters and the large window gapes open. Taco carefully climbs his large body through and looks around the lounge. He flips the large couch to block the window and heads towards Philthy's room.
In Philthy's room was an assortment of tools hanging on every wall. With previously not having hands, the thought that he would ever get to use them never crossed Taco's mind. Taco looks at the harness Philthy wore to carry all the tools when he helped the maintenance crew. Taco really hopes that wasn't the Philthy he knew.
Taco tries to think what would make the best weapon. He grabs a large pipe wrench in one hand and gives it a few test swings. Taco keeps looking around and spots a pickaxe in the corner. If they were coming for him, he would be ready.
Sleepy says, "Great, now you just made him camp a safe room." Fang digs through a mostly empty box labeled 'loved ones'. He pulls out a figure of a Snow Leopard and says, "This is his Mom. Use her to draw him out." Sleepy takes the offered figure and says, "How about we open your little game to some online multiplayer? I feel he has a strong enough connection to her that I can draw her into the dream." Fang gets a crazy smile and says, "Do it!"
Taco sits on Philthy's bed and listens to the zombies moan and beat on the windows. A voice screams in terror. Taco instantly recognizes it as his mother. He runs to a window and peeks through the blinds. Across the park, Tasha the Snow Leopard runs away from a pack of zombified animals. Tears stream down his cheeks at the thought of Fang dropping his mother in here to be ripped apart by zombies. He runs the the front door and kicks it off its hinges. The pack of animals part as Taco runs through the opening in the crowd.
With nowhere else to go, Tasha finds a tree and starts climbing. She screams as the tree is surrounded. The tree shakes as the horde bites at low hanging branches and starts shaking the it.
A path of destruction is cut through the horde as Taco swings his pipe wrench to knock away the zombies. The pickaxe gets lodged in the thick skull of a tiger and is left behind. Tasha hears the giant grey possum fighting it's way towards the tree. Taco yells at her, "Mom! I'm coming for you." Tasha looks down with tears in her eyes at the monster that just called her mom.
Taco is covered in splattered blood and guts at this point. He grabs the horn of a ram and swings its body around to knock back more animals. The head rips loose from the body and Taco continues to use it as a weapon. Tasha sees the white possum face of her missing son and says, "Taco what happened to you?"
Finally getting close enough to the tree, Taco grabs the pipe wrench in his tail and climbs up to his mother. Taco smiles, "Hi mom. How have you been?" Tasha looks at the hulking body of her son as he lazily swings the pipe wrench in his tail to keep the zombies at bay.
Sleepy looks down at the reunion and says, "A zombie horde can't stop him. Got any other ideas?" Fang answers, "Rip the earth open and swallow them up."
The tree starts to shake as an earthquake hits the petting zoo. A rift forms and quickly spreads towards the tree. The tree starts to tip and Taco throws his mother over his shoulder to jump. Tasha gapes as the tree falls into oblivion. Taco hugs his mother to him and desperately runs to get away. Tasha was used to carrying Taco around, if they weren't about to die, she would appreciate the role reversal. The earthquake stops and a giant red glowing chasm is spread across the park.
Taco kicks open the door to the cafeteria and piles tables against it. Tasha looks up at the red sky from the holes in the roof and says, "What is going on?" Taco answers, "I hurt someone and this is my punishment." Tasha looks at his body and says, "Doesn't seem so bad with that body to help you." Taco smirks, "You always did tell me to drink my milk and I would grow up to be big and strong."
Rain starts pouring from the red sky and puddles form on the cafeteria floor. Tasha peeks out a window at the zombie animals as the flesh starts to melt off their bodies. Tasha says with worry, "I don't think that's normal rain." Taco stoops down to look over her shoulder and mutters, "Of course it wouldn't be." Taco runs a hand down his Mom's back and says, "I missed you while I was away." Tasha replies, "Oh sweety, I missed you too. Why didn't you call every week like you said you would?"
Taco remembers the bullshit Fang told him about how his mother was only exploiting him for extra tip money. Fang went on and on about how he needed to forget her and move on with his life. Taco finally answers, "I was told it would be easier if I didn't. You would have just begged and pleaded for me to come home." Tasha gives an understanding nod and says, "If we survive this, did you want to find a new home together?" Taco looks down at the beefy were-possum body and replies, "Even if I'm a monster that you would have to hide away?" Tasha says, "I love you regardless of what you look like."
The rain finishes washing away the zombie animal flesh. Skeletal creatures rise from the ground. The broken skulls and limbs reform together as the cafeteria is assaulted by a skeleton army. The skeleton army starts jumping down from the holes in the roof. Taco and Tasha run towards the kitchen.
They jump over the counter and Tasha yells, "Why is everything trying to kill us?" Taco uses his pipe wrench and swings it at an invading animal skeleton. The bones scatter as the wrench slams into them.
A pentagram forms on the floor and starts glowing green. Tasha yells, "Something is happening back here!" Taco turns to look between blows to the skeletons. He jumps between it and his mother defensively. A wolf skull rises from the floor and Taco recognizes it's green glowing eyes. Luna rises from the pentagram on the floor and Taco asks "You're one of them, aren't you?" Luna looks at the bent pipe wrench in Taco's hand. She turns to look around and says, "One of who?"
Luna spots a tiger skeleton with a pickaxe lodged in it's skull climbing over the counter. She raises her arm made of human bones and points at it, "What are you doing?" The tiger looks around nervously and then answers in a raspy voice, "Killing the fleshy ones." Luna asks, "Who told you to do that?" The tiger replies, "Fang and Sleepy." Luna spreads her arms and stamps her hooved foot towards the tiger. It recoils and Luna says, "I am the Lich Queen around here. Bow before me!" The horde of skeleton animals bow their skulls.
Tasha watches the scene in amazement. Luna turns to touch Taco's chest and says, "You really turned into a hunky possum." Taco turns to his mother and says, "Mom, this is my new girlfriend, Luna!" Luna replies, "Wow! I would have worn something nice if I knew I was meeting your mother already. I thought we agree to take things slow?"
Tasha looks over the mismatched skeleton and says slowly, "Hello? You can call me Tasha." Luna shakes Tasha's paw and then says, "I bet you're wondering about all this? I'm sorry my co-workers get a little carried away with their pranks. You are asleep right now. Did you want me to wake you up?" Tasha says, "Wait, this is a dream?" Luna answers, "Yes."
Taco asks, "Let me hug her goodbye first." Tasha stands up on her hind legs and reaches up her son's large body. Taco bends down and wraps his arms around her. Taco whispers, "I'll try to call you more often." Tasha lingers in the goodbye hug as she slowly fades away.
Watching from above, Fang asks, "Where the fuck did she come from?" Sleepy answers, "She probably felt Taco's discomfort and hijacked the dream. They have been getting pretty close lately." Fang says, "Let's show her not to fuck with us. Grab that ugly polar bear and slap some armor on him this time."
The door to the cafeteria bursts open and Philthy comes walking in the room. He is wearing an ornate set of plate mail armor with sharp spikes in several places to discourage Taco from grabbing him. The silver armor was very intimidating to Taco. Philthy lets out a roar.
Luna waves an arm and the skeleton army stops bowing and turns to attack. Taco says, "Don't kill him!" Luna comforts Taco, "Unlike your mother, he's not really here. There is no reason to hold back." Taco asks again, "Please?" The skeletons pounce on Philthy in a more coordinated attack than they used on Taco. Philthy swings his paws to knock them away but they overwhelm him. The skeletons pull at the bear's armor and it comes off piece by piece.
Finally, he is pinned to the ground on his back and Luna stands over him. She asks, "Are you done with your little rampage?" Philthy roars in response. Taco looks down at him and says, "He's really not a bad guy once you get to know him." Luna says, "If those two idiots are directing the dream they must be around here somewhere. Let's take a shortcut."
Luna waves a hand at a doorway and then opens it to reveal a stunned Sleepy and Fang. Fang yells, "Wake us up." Sleepy replies, "Somethings wrong, We're stuck." Luna waves Taco inside the door and says, "Taco, how about you show Fang and Sleepy how much you enjoyed them bringing your mom into this nightmare. Since this is only a dream nothing you do to them will effect them in the real world."
With a smile at being given the freedom to hurt them, Taco ducks through the doorway and charges Fang. The blue tiger is helpless to get away as Taco grabs a handful of fur to hold him down and repeatedly hits him with the pipe wrench. Fang's prized saber teeth break off and Sleepy watches in horror at the violent killer the possum has become. Grabbing a handful of skin on Fang's chest, Taco lifts him into the air. The bloody and broken tiger says, "Do it."
Taco uses his immense strength to slam Fang against the model of the petting zoo with a sickening crunch. Fang slowly fades away. Sleepy holds his paws up and says, "I'm sorry, Fang made me do it. I've been nothing but nice to you." Luna says, "I think you enjoyed doing it. You need to be taught a lesson too." Luna tosses a giant broadsword across the room. The sword lodges into the floor beside Taco.
Looking up at Luna, Taco asks, "None of this is real?" Luna nods her skull and says, "Sleepy, hold your neck out so he can get it in one swing." Tears are streaming down Sleepy's face as he complies. Taco grips the sword in one hand and appreciates the weight of the weapon. Sleepy tries to stifle his sobbing as Taco lines the sword up. With a large swing, Sleepy's decapitated bear head rolls across the floor.
The dreamworld starts to crumble away and Luna says, "I hope they don't have any hard feelings about this when they wake up." Taco feels a pull of his eyes opening as he wakes in his bed. He looks around the dark row of beds and spots Fang's glowing blue eyes glaring at him across the dark room. Sleepy sits up in his bed and feels his neck with his front paws for several seconds. Taco hangs his legs over the edge of the bed and looks at his little hands. He feels the slider in his mind and the bed groans as he puts on four hundred pounds of muscle.
Fang has a look of pure terror as Taco walks up to his bed. Taco reaches out a hand and pats Fang in a condescending way on the top of the head. Without saying anything, Taco turns and ducks out the door to visit his girlfriend's room in the basement.
