I rediscovered some of those special fuzzy feelings when I first began reading my favorite stories here on SF, so I put them to good use on this very short story (5,650 words). Hopefully this is more reminiscent of older works I made (I can barely remember them myself). However, it's basically just an adult story with a little mystery, so nothing special: a human is rescued from the snow by a Bernese Mountain dog lady.

This was partially inspired by a very short comic on FA, but I can't find it... I just came up with a title as I'm submitting this.

As always, favorite, vote, and comment if you wish!

A lone figure waded through the heavy snowfall. Every step subtly crunched from the frozen blanket covering the mountains and hills. The falling snowflakes had ceased more than an hour ago, but an occasional wind scattered flurries into the air like a miniature blizzard. The pine trees and naked deciduous trees were covered as well. The scenery of wintertime appeared frozen and still, like a portrait. The alpine beauty of winter was deceptive however. Avalanches and cold temperatures were dangerous even for the experienced people who lived in the high altitude climate.

The figure paused. Everything before her appeared disturbed, like an ocean wave had crashed into a beach but never receded back to sea. The snow appeared unnaturally piled up throughout the small section of forest. Snow piled up against the northeast side of the every tree.

'It was a small avalanche.' She realized. Smelling the cold air, finding a stray scent mingling with the wood and pine aromas would be difficult. Trudging into the high buildup of snow, she searched through the debris. Working quickly, a flash of color surrounded by the white pileup caught her eye. A blue snowsuit covered a chilled body.

"Someone is there!" She noticed a figure laying motionless in the snow, and dashed towards it. Partially buried, a human stuck out of the ground like a bent tree.

"Hello! Can you hear me?!" Without a response, she immediately dug his legs out from the snow. Laying him out as flat as she could, a quick check over ensued. An ear listened to a heartbeat and fingers checked for a pulse.

"He's breathing." She muttered with relief. 'But he is in trouble.' Her facial expression tensed. Carefully picking him up, she cradled the unconscious human in her arms.

"Hang in there." She told him. "You'll be alright." Her voice faintly reached the human...

Andrei's eyes blinked awake, but his mind lingered in a cold fog. His vision slowly focused and made sense of what he saw. Staring up he found himself laying down, and looking up at a ceiling.

'What?' A wave of dizziness came over him as he sat up. Steadying himself with a hand, he felt the plushness of a cushion underneath him. Looking down, he found himself on a simple couch. Taking a deep breath, his ears could hear himself breathing.

'I'm breathing.' He managed to think. Andrei was alive. His skin felt cold, but he was no longer freezing in the snow.

"Are you awake?" A deep female voice asked.

"Huh?" Blinking several times, he found himself staring at an anthropomorphic canine. Tall and heartily built, she was much larger than him. She wore protective winter gear, leaving only a thick black tail curled behind her. Her entire face was covered in black fur except for her white muzzle and a line traveling up through her forehead. Subtle rust markings covered the backs of her cheeks as well as two spots acting like eyebrows. Those characteristics pointed to that of a St. Bernese. Kneeling down before him, she was remained at his eye level. Despite her size, she was an affable canine lady.

"Who are you?" Wh-where am I?" He looked around what appeared to be a living room. A cozy fire crackled in a stone hearth. He was sitting on a couch in a modest room. Carpets were visible on the floor, the drapes at a window were shut, giving the humble dwelling a coziness and security. The sight conflicted with his last memories of the snow, trees, and mountains.

"I was hiking and then..." He remembered a distinct roar coming from up the mountainside before being knocked off his feet.

"Sh. You're safe now." The St. Bernese reassured him with a warm smile. "You were unconscious in the snow, and in danger of freezing so I brought you back here." She explained. He noticed a familiar set of garments behind her. His clothes, soaked from the snow, were strung out close to the fire.

'What?' Glancing down, his eyes widened. Andrei suddenly realized that he was starkly naked on the couch. He quickly covered himself, wondering what to do.

"Don't worry. Stay right there." She told him before he could outright panic. He nodded and calmed down. It was obvious that he shouldn't continue to wear wet clothes when he was trying to warm up. However, being naked in front of a strange lady was a little unusual, even if she was his savior. With a smile the St. Bernese woman stood back up and returned to the fire. Back turned, she removed her coat and boots, placing them close to the orange flames to dry off as well. Andrei watched her, but his face blushed as she continued disrobing without pause. The grey shirt was pulled over her head effortlessly revealing a strong back covered completely in black fur.

"Um." He nervously swallowed as she removed her pants as well.

"Hmm?" The canine sweetly hummed and looked over her shoulder with a seductive smile. Andrei stared silently as she removed her bra and gently laid it out to dry with his clothes. With her back still turned she pulled the hem of her meager underwear down and allowed it to fall to the floor. Bending forward, a furry rear was in plain view as she scoped up the small garment with a finger. Andrei wasn't sure what to say. His mouth felt dry and his lips were struggling to move. His eyes watched mesmerized as the St. Bernese stood back up. Her curly tail was now wagging a little. She barely had to turn for him to see the curvature of her breasts, but the nude canine woman wasn't shy in the slightest and eagerly spun around to face him. His heart melted faster than the snow on his clothes.

A furry white chest was easier to see than two full moons. Her breasts were large and well rounded, fitting for her size and stature. Her nipples and surrounding skin were partially covered from all of the fluff, but just as eager to be seen. Her entire belly was covered in the same thick coat of white fur that reached down to her legs. The thick downy fur covered her groin exceptionally well from any prying eyes though. Andrei didn't know what to say to the beautiful canine woman standing before him in all her naked glory. He didn't even realize his body had started shivering.

"You're shivering." She noticed with concern.

"Huh?" He looked at himself in surprise. Was it the cold still afflicting him, or possible hidden feelings? He didn't have time to think when she spoke again.

"Let's warm you up."

"I-oh. Okay." He expected the canine woman to retrieve a blanket, but instead she directly approached the couch. Her chest was just above his eye level, and mere inches away. Andrei could feel his cheeks turning red.

"Would you rather lay down?" She sweetly asked.

"Yeah." Andrei spoke with a dry mouth, and reclined. He received an eyeful of fur as she climbed over him, and onto the couch. The sudden dip of her weight on the cushions threatened to pull him closer to her, akin to gravity. It felt like a furry wall pressed against him as the canine laid down on her side. The couch was just barely big enough for the two of them. The St. Bernese rested an arm over his front, but didn't force herself on him. Unable to speak, the nervous human wondered what to do.

'Is this appropriate?' He stared at the canine's tri-colored hand and black arm. The fur touching him felt seductively soft and warm. The thought of wrapping himself up with her warm coat made him shiver.

'She rescued me and I'm thankful for that, but...' Temptation courted his thoughts. Her large breasts were unashamedly beside him. His teeth clenched hoping to stave off another chill running up his spine. After some hesitation, and cooler air nipping at his naked skin, the human relented and rolled towards her. He wrapped his arms around the St. Bernese, clinging onto her large fluffy body. She was all too happy to receive the "hug" and smiled contently. With their naked fronts pressed together, it only took seconds for the heat to settle in. Andrei's body immediately relaxed with a relieved sigh.

"You're soft and warm." His eyes closed as he focused on the sensations of her downy fur. She giggled at the goofiness in his voice, but he didn't care. All of the coldness in the world couldn't reach him within her fur. 'And beautiful.' Andrei silently thought to himself. He could feel his body becoming warmer, as if there was a coat of ice surrounding him that was melting. With the fire crackling nearby, there wasn't a better way to warm up. The St. Bernese smiled and gently rubbed up and down his uncovered back. The minutes melted away without care.

"Is your back cold too?" Her hands didn't cease caressing his skin.

"Mmhm." The hum was muffled, but he was more than eager now. Andrei rolled over and pressed his back to her soft front. He held onto the strong arm that protectively wrapped around his chest. With a sigh he felt at peace, and warm.

A short arctic vixen appeared from around the corner and walked into the room with a tray in hand. She wore a snug lilac colored robe, but her pure white coat of fur was indistinguishable from freshly fallen snow. A bushy tail lingered behind her paw steps.

'I'm not dressed!' Realizing his naked body was on full display, he tried to cover himself only for a furry leg to hook over and politely cover his groin.

'Thank goodness.' He felt a quick sigh of relief. The vixen pulled out and set up a small stand for them.

"I have some soup for you two." Her voice spoke with an accent and a little age as she placed the tray down. "How are you doing?" Leaning forward, she offered a little grin.

"Um..." His eyes found themselves wandering a little lower. Despite wearing a robe, Andrei could see a visible furry cleavage.

"He's warming up." The canine spoke up from behind.

"Ah, that's good." She nodded. "Make sure you two eat if you're hungry."

"We will." The St. Bernese affirmed.

"Good." Her tail swished before stepping back.

"Thank you." Andrei managed to at least say that as the arctic fox walked out. "Thanks for covering me." He touched the canine's leg. "Who is she?"

"That was Marta. You don't have to worry about covering yourself. She helped me undress you earlier."

"Oh." He secretly felt embarrassed about it. "What is your name?"

"Margarethe, but you can call me Maggie. Are you hungry? We can eat if you like." She offered and pulled her leg back for him to freely move.

"Yes, please." He was starving. Not wanting to turn down any offering of food, he eagerly sat up with only minor difficulty. "It looks good." He stared at the rising steam. Before he could eat, a large pair of hands grabbed ahold of his waist.

"Huh?" To his surprise, the St. Bernese lifted him up with a little effort and placed him on her lap. The new "seat" was just as comfortable as the couch. Her fur was more than enough to keep him warm. Although, it was hard to ignore her breasts pressed snugly up against his back; but Andrei didn't want to complain after all of the kindness she had showed him. He pushed that thought to the back of his mind and focused on the meal laid out before him. Black furred arms appeared beside his own. She wasn't going to pass up the meal either. Maggie ate over his shoulder while he ate. The broth was warm, and the taste of sage delighted his taste buds. The human quickly emptied his portion and laid back against Maggie's welcoming fur.

"Mmm." He hummed. "That was good."

"Marta is a good cook." The St. Bernese agreed and set her spoon aside. Her hands innocently rested on the outside of his legs. Andrei didn't take much notice, and glanced around the fire lit room.

'What kind of place is this?' Andrei wondered as he noticed smaller details. The floor was wooden like an older home and decorated with rugs. A pair of chairs faced the fireplace beside their strung out clothes. The banister had candles and what appeared to be unlit incense. To his left he couldn't see what the room connected to around the corner; t a brighter light indicated plenty of windows. Andrei yawned and tried looking outside, but with the curtains drawn shut, he couldn't see anything.

'Are we still in the mountains?' His guess was unsure. He found himself yawning again as Maggie began rubbing his leg. The gentle rubs felt nice with her leather padded hand. The cozy heat from her furry body was growing on him like a heated blanket. Yawning a third time, he found it hard to stay awake. Was it the tiring ordeal he had been through, the coziness if the St. Bernese, or the meal he had eaten? The hand rubbing his legs wasn't helping either. Andrei's eyelids felt heavy. The orange flames of the crackling fire helped lull him towards sleep.

"Are you tired?" A female voice asked through his clouding concentration.

"Mm... Yeah." He barely mumbled and tried keeping his eyes open to no avail. However, he was quickly nodding off into a gentle sleep. His final moments of wakefulness focused on the hand tenderly rubbing his inner thigh, and the enticing fingertips brushing over more sensitive places.

Andrei stirred in his sleep from a sensual dream. He was with a beautiful woman in a cozy unknown place. She was pressed against his side, and utterly naked. He couldn't see her, but he could feel her touching him. His slowly waking imagination played along. She was teasing him, lightly touching, barely stroking his malehood. His hips shifted as the warm erotic thoughts made his length throb.

"Mmm." He moaned. The touch felt too real to merely be a dream, but he didn't want it to stop. The veil of sleep slowly lifted as his eyes opened. All of the memories of what had happened came rushing back to him: the avalanche, waking up, and being with the St. Bernese woman. Oddly enough, the sensations on his groin could still be felt.

'Huh?' Looking down, his eyes widened open seeing that his dream wasn't entirely fantasy. He had a very visible case of morning wood. More importantly, someone was touching him. A black and rust hand with white fingertips was gently touching the underside. His hands frantically touched around him only to grasp a furry body. He suddenly realized that he was laying beside the Bernese mountain dog woman who had rescued him.

"Maggie!" The human tried to sit up only for the large hand to gently wrap around his pulsating length. The leathery padded palm felt undeniably warm against his sensitive flesh. A smooth tongue licked his ear sending a hot chill down his spine.

"Shh." She whispered for him to stay quiet, but lightly stroked his length. The dual sensations of her soft fur and warm pads was more than he could bare with silence.

"Oohh Maggie..." He softly groaned from the leathery pads stroking him, and shifted his hips to no avail. The bed suddenly shifted as she rose up beside him. Despite her size she was quick to plant her legs outside his own, effectively straddling the human. He wasn't going anywhere. Looking up, Andrei stared wide eyed at the beautiful buxom female looming over him. She was truly a sight to behold.

"Ready?" Her eyes hardly needed the words to be spoken, but she asked them anyway. Andrei merely nodded, granting her permission. Wide hips lowered and half his length disappeared into the canine lady's fur. He couldn't see her womanhood through the denser white downy fluff, but a heated kiss of flesh made his length throb. There was no turning back. Lowering herself gradually, his length was slowly enveloped centimeter by centimeter. Each little twist and pause guided him inside her.

"Ohh. Mm." The lightly moaned above him. "Nice and snug." She finally settled down on top of him, taking his entire length to the hilt and effectively joining their hips. With the heavier canine on top, there was little chance he would slip out anytime soon. He wasn't going anywhere, even if he wanted to. Unlike the insulating heat of her furry body, the inner heat of her womanhood was more direct. Any little movement caressed like a smooth silken tongue. Andrei could not help himself from shuddering at the wonderful feeling.

"You're not cold, are you?" She sweetly asked. Maggie leaned forward and planted her hands onto the bed beside his shoulders.

"N-No." Now the buxom canine was looming overtop of the human. The soft brown eyes gazing down at him were tantalizingly sweet. The snowy white furred breasts were hanging easily within reach before his very eyes. They were the very image of low hanging fruit, albeit much furrier, and completely irresistible. Reaching up, he ran his hands over her ample breasts. They were as soft as they looked. The thick luscious fur and supple masses yielded to his touch, and were more than a handful.

She gave a short breathy growl of approval, but her lower body wasn't remaining idle. Her hips began a slow, yet steady rocking rhythm. The slick sound of movement sounded as good as it felt. Out of impulse Andrei thrusted upwards only to bump into the heavier canine with unnecessary force.

"Take it nice and slow." She told him. "Feel every motion." He felt his length jerk inside her as she spoke. Andrei grunted and matched her movement. It was a gentle motion, up and down as well as back and forth. Her hanging breasts slowly followed suit with the rest of her body. Every passing movement felt divine to the human underneath her.

"There. That's it." She cooed. "Let me coax everything out." Her seductive voice made his body shudder erotically. She could've just forced it out of him, but instead sought to slowly bring him to a height of pleasure. Andrei felt her over as much as he could before holding onto her arms. Every slick bump and gentle rock of their hips brought him closer. His heart lodged in his throat feeling the inevitable peak approaching. Up above, her eyes never wavered from his own like ever watching stars as the pleasurable sensations grew. They both knew how close he was to climaxing. His breathing quickened feeling his member twitching inside her.

"I'm-" His mouth quivered. The human wished that it wouldn't end so soon, but she wouldn't stop.

"Yes." She breathily encouraged him.

"I'm... Ah!" Their hips moved together a few more times before he tipped over the edge, spilling his seed inside her. She slowed until he was completely spent. The warm afterglow encircled him as he still clung onto her.

'Oh my god...' His eyes closed to make sense of it all only for the St. Bernese to shift once again. The hefty canine lady lowered onto her elbows as soon as he softened up. Her breasts touched and partially rested in his chest, spilling towards his chin while her furry belly grazed over his front. Gazing up, the broad smile across her muzzle conveyed her feelings to him without a word. A pink tongue emerged and gently licked his nose. He held back a laugh, but smiled at her.

Shifting her weight some, the large canine rolled with him onto her side. Nuzzling his face into her furry front, he breathed deeply. The St. Bernese smelled very nice for a canine living in the mountainous forests. There were hints of pine needles mingling with a clean scent that was distinctly her own. He might as well have been laying on a cloud in the heavens above.

"That was incredible." He managed to say.

"It was." Maggie agreed wholeheartedly and held onto him tightly. She gently rubbed his back. The human simply laid there in her cozy embrace, content with everything happening. He touched the canine's arm and wasn't too surprised to find a muscular limb far stronger than his own. Considering her size and species, he expected as much for a rescuer in the alpine mountains.

"You're very strong." Andrei mentioned as his hand trailed back to her chest. "But you're also...

"Soft?" She guessed with a chuckle.

"Yes." He smiled and carefully fondled the feminine mass. "I've never seen a woman like you before."

"I suppose the mountains make women like me." She thoughtfully answered.

"I wish that was the case." Without arousal coursing through his system, the human had other questions come to mind. Looking around, the room had changed. He was no longer close to a fireplace or laying on a couch. Andrei and Maggie were in a smaller room on a bed together. The furniture was modest as well. A low dresser, lamp, chair, and closet fit in the small space attached to a half bath. There was no shower, tv, or power outlets.

"Weren't we in a different room before?" He wondered aloud.

"Mm. Oh. yes! I'm sorry." She bashfully spoke. "I meant to explain when you woke up, but other things happened." Maggie apologized. "We were in the main living room downstairs."

"Downstairs? How did I get up here?" His eyebrows knitted together and thought for a moment. "I fell asleep after eating."

"She has a habit of making soup that makes people sleepy." She admitted.

"Yeah, I was wondering why I became so tired." He remembered and ruffled his hair.

"I honestly don't know what the ingredients are, but it's very good for your health. If you're sick or cold, you will feel better after a quick nap. When you fell a sleep I carried you here, and we took a nap together."

"How long have I been here?"

"For the afternoon."

"Just the afternoon?"

"Yes. Are you surprised?"

"I thought it was much longer." He admitted. "I'm staying at a friend's house to watch over things while he is gone, so I'm glad that I haven't been here too long."

"Are you not from around here?"

"Not anymore. I grew up in the foothills as a kid, but I moved away a few years ago. Since I'm back for a week I couldn't resist hiking out here. Things have changed a little, but it's the same beautiful scenery that I remember."

"It is very beautiful out here." She agreed.

"I don't remember seeing you in the mountains before." He grinned. "Do you live here?"

"Yes, I do."

"Why haven't I seen you in the mountains before then?" He asked, but a knock at the door interrupted them.

"Come in." Maggie spoke up. The door knob twisted and opened up. The arctic vixen who had served them both soup appeared, and stepped inside. Her arms carried a set of pristinely folded clothes that Andrei instantly recognized.

"Here are your clothes. They're all dry and ready to wear." Marta set them on the edge of the bed.

"Oh. Um. Thank you." He managed to say.

"You're welcome." The older vixen looked them both over before grinning and stepping away. Andrei looked back at Maggie when the door clicked shut.

"Does she live here too?" He whispered in case the fox was standing by the door.

"Yes." Maggie giggled.

"I'm sure she is a joy to have." He sarcastically spoke.

"Marta is a nice person." The canine smiled all the same. For a moment there was quietness between them. No awkwardness, movement, or touching. Andrei simply enjoyed being in her arms, snuggled into her naked body. He didn't want to leave her cozy warmth, but he couldn't remain with her in bed forever.

"I guess I have to get dressed, and leave. If it's almost evening, then I will have just enough time to get back to town before dark." He began extricating himself from the St. Bernese. She lightly held onto him as he crawled out of the bed, but the canine allowed him to slip away. Her ears fell back, but only for a brief moment. Seeing him stretch and stand without difficulty made her feel a little pride.

"I think you're all set to go." She sat up and smiled at him. "You have a clean bill of health from me."

"What does that mean?"

"I wouldn't let you walk out without being in good health."

"So you, uh we did... that for good health?"

"You mean when we mated?" She plainly asked.

"Yes..." Andrei whispered.

"Well, when I woke up you were mumbling and holding onto me. That's when I saw you were aroused... You liked it when we mated, right?" Her eyes looked away while grinning. For once she seemed a little bashful!

"Yes!" He blurted out only to zip his mouth shut. A renewed smile took ahold of her muzzle as she lovingly gazed back at him. Andrei turned his focus back to his clothes. He touched his shirt before holding it up. The fabric was clean, and even held a lingering warmth from the fire; but everything felt course compared to the St. Bernese's fur coat.

"What's wrong?" Maggie asked.

"Nothing." He said and stepped back towards her. Their gazes locked together, and without a word they hugged. Enraptured in her loving embrace once more, he reveled in the feeling of her soft pressed against his naked skin.

"Thank you for saving me." He kindly mentioned. "I'm grateful for that and your pleasant... hospitality." Andrei felt his entire face grin as he said the last word.

"It was my pleasure, and yours too." She winked. That was a fact. Andrei stepped back, and she kindly brushed off any of her fur that lingered on his body. He watched her hand sweep across his skin. The leathery padded palm and fingertips gracefully brought warm to him yet again. Her hand dipped lower, and with a sweet smile Maggie patted his dormant privates.

"I want to pull you back into bed." She cradled the delicate masculine organs.

"I'd love to, but I think he's sleeping now." He joked. The St. Bernese laughed and let Andrei dress himself. The human was glad to wear clothes again, but he would always envy the canine's fur coat

"Goodbye." It felt bittersweet to say it. "I hope to see you again someday."

"Bye. I'm sure that we will." She smiled from her seat on the edge of the bed. With a nod he turned and looked at the door with hesitation.

"You can take a left and go down the stairs." She kindly pointed in the direction for him.

"Thank you." He left and quietly closed the door behind him. 'Stairs?' Andrei felt his eyebrows furrow. 'I don't remember any stairs.' He thought, but after taking a few steps found himself at the top of a stairwell that led to a floor below. Halfway down there was a sensual painting of several nude women bathing at a rocky hot spring. He paused to admire it before moving along. Trotting down the last flight of steps he found himself in a modest front room that resembled a lobby. Tall windows allowed plenty of light inside the interior. A small two person couch rested against a side wall. Above it was a painting of a sunrise in a snowy mountainside. Two potted evergreen plants rested beside the doorway where two large candles were mounted. The other side of the lobby led to a larger room that he wasn't sure if he had been in. No electronics were visible either. It was truly old fashioned. It reminded him of a little lodge or an old inn where anyone in the mountainous area could check in for a secluded stay.

Opposite of the door he found the short middle aged arctic vixen behind the counter of a front desk. A ticking wooden clock, pair of skis, and pair of snowshoes hung behind her on the wall. She was busily cleaning a glass, and didn't even look up at him.

"What kind of place is this?" He looked around and asked the arctic vixen. Without pausing from her work she answered.

"You're at a special lodge for those who become lost, or in danger during the cold winter." The vulpine answered matter-of-factly. "I believe this bag is yours." She pulled up a backpack from behind the counter.

"Thank you!" He had completely forgotten about it. "Um. Can you tell me exactly where we are so I can find my way home?"

"I cannot do that." She told him. Her answer baffled him.

"Do you have a map that I could use then?"

"No , I do not." The arctic vixen shook her head.

"How will I get back without a map?"

"Just follow the trail that leads out from the entrance." She pointed to the door. "It will take half an hour by foot, and lead to the nearest town northwest from here." Her vague directions didn't seem like much help, but Maggie and her saved him from freezing to death...

"Yoohoo! Andrei." A familiar sweet voice called out from the stairs. Turning around, the human's eyes widened at the sight of Maggie at the bottom of the stairs. She was wearing a bra to contain her large breasts, but the St. Bernese wasn't wearing anything else to speak of. His cheeks warmed at the sight of the buxom bottomless canine standing so openly by the lodge's entrance. His admiration wasn't shared by the vixen.

"Put your pants on, Maggie. This isn't a whorehouse." The arctic fox hopped down from her seat behind the front desk and walked around the counter.

"Sorry, ma'am." She bashfully smiled. "I wanted to say goodbye again." The white fluffy fox was only a few inches shorter than him, but compared to the St. Bernese she was petite and tiny! Andrei couldn't help but notice the vixen's half open robes as she marched over to confront the canine. Pausing in mid step, the vixen eyed the human sharply.

"Well, unless you're going to spend some time with me young man, I think you were on your way out the door." Andrei naturally tensed up from the commanding fox.

"Yeah, you're right!" He suddenly remembered. "But will I ever come back to this place?" He asked. Both ladies looked at each other for a moment.

"You'll find this place again when you need to." The arctic fox waved him away with a hand only to softly smile. "And don't fret. You'll always be welcome here. I'm sure Maggie will agree." She looked at the St. Bernese who nodded fervently. The human felt a little hopeful as he left.

"Goodbye." He waved before stepping outside. His eyes squinted from the bright sunshine reflecting off the snow. The sharp chirping of birds in the surrounding trees was starkly different from the quiet interior of the lodge. Looking around, the place was beautifully scenic. Surrounding trees were covered in snow, and through their little gaps, other parts of the mountains were visible. Their snowy peaks untouched by man resembled portraits hand crafted by nature. The lodge itself was fairly modest from the limited view he had of the front. A large faded sign with the words "The Alpine Inn" rested above the main entrance. The two story abode stretched out and covered a modest area. Although, there were no roads nor any vehicles parked within sight. It was truly cut off from much of the world.

"The Alpine Inn? How many rooms are there?" He wondered at the curtained windows. There was a hallway with a few on his side, and possibly another below him. But what about the other side? Was that the living room with the fire? A tall fence kept one ground level section completely hidden though. His ears could barely detect the trickling sound of water. Was there a stream or pond nearby?

'This place must look entirely different during the summer and fall.' Andrei could only imagine what all of the different colors of the seasons would've looked like. He briefly wondered what Maggie would be doing with the change of seasons. With that in mind he gave a silent goodbye to the little lodge tucked away in the mountains. Following the path Marta had pointed out, he set out for town. Walking through the wet snow that crunched beneath his steps, he felt a rising strength within his body that had been lacking before. The reinvigoration spread throughout his core to his limbs. Despite his youth, the man hadn't felt this alive in ages.

"Was it the soup, the warmth, or the mating?" He asked himself. "Or all three?" He swung his arms feeling like he could run a marathon. Looking back over his shoulder for a final look, the human's jaw dropped.

"What in the-?" Fully turning around he couldn't believe what he was looking at, or lack thereof. "It's gone!" The entire lodge had vanished like a mirage in the desert. Snow covered pines and a steep hill suddenly filled the once full space.

'Am I gong crazy?' He definitely had strong memories of the rooms he had stayed at. Glancing around the forest and hilly slopes, an eerie feeling of unknown origin creeped over his skin. Was there some sort of power that had saved him, and brought him to that hidden lodge? He remembered Marta's words before he left: you'll find this place when you need to. Maybe there would be another time? Andrei felt hopeful at the prospect. With that in mind he resumed walking along the trail that led to the nearest town wearing a grin...

End?
