Hello readers, and welcome back to "The Gift"! This is part 4 of Richard (FA)'s Chapter 4.

Richard and Jack are obviously going in a particular trajectory that won't have them separated for long. Back at home, things heat up a little as the two become a little more intimate. It is readily apparent that this storyline is narrowing down into a particular direction, but, if you look closer, it's possible to see that there are still some very important decisions left to be had. The next decision, as a matter of fact, will have to be answered by readers.

Voting is up on FA so head on over and help direct the story!

Jacked seemed to understand my confusion, his ear tufts slowly lowering. "And yet thou and I doth occupy the same residence, so neither of us would walk off... unless thou art suggesting that I leave for--"

Quickly interjecting, I corrected him. "No! No! Not at all, Jack. I'm glad you're here, and, uh... you don't have to go. I just mean... I'm not sure what happens now."

He cocked his head the other way, ear tufts rising once again. "Whatever happens, I would assume. Must something special happen? Art thou under the belief that something needs come to pass beyond what already has? Is it an unspoken rule? A suggestion? An expecta--"

I decided I was done with being indecisive. Before I could lose my nerve I cut him off by reaching up to run my hands through the feathers on either side of his neck and stood up on my tip toes to press my lips to his beak. The moment we touched I felt his entire body stiffen in surprise and, in that split second I was nearly overcome with the spine-chilling worry that I had overstepped my bounds in a way that was far too difficult from which to recover. What if I'd misread everything?

Before I could react, though, the feathers beneath my hands puffed up and his arms wrapped around me; Jack pressed back into my affections. The sensations that hit me when Jack had saved me on the bathroom floor came flooding back. Although I had never been to England I could hear the bustle of the weekly markets in Stratford-upon-Avon, feel the breeze as I flew over the rolling hills of Shropshire, smell the chalky breeze off the White Cliffs of Dover ,and felt the early morning chill from the mist of Norfolk. Most of all, I could feel Jack-- REALLY feel him, and I could tell that he could feel me.

I felt giddy, and a little light headed, placing my hand on the door-knob to steady myself as my heart beat powerfully in my chest. Having already unlocked the door, it opened, and I almost stumbled and yet, somehow, Jack managed to catch me. Numerous times I'd seen him use a light switch or ruffle a sheet or blanket; on one occasion he'd even moved one of the cushions on the sofa, but it was the first time I'd ever actually experienced him affecting me in such a physical way. My question came out in a single, unclear syllable. "Wha?"

Jack stepped into the house, following after me once I managed to catch myself and he reached out with a talon to motion at the door, which closed. When he looked back to me I saw that there were a plethora of emotions rolling across his face and within the glimmering Topaz of his golden gaze. "Richard, my boy... I-- I..."

At a loss for words, the Gryphon simply stood there, wings half-unfurled, talons held out from his body in either direction as if frozen, waiting for input. Starting to second-guess myself, I stayed where I was, reaching up to touch the lingering taste of Jack on my lips. "Is-- was... was that not okay? If it wasn't, I--"

The dazed expression on the Gryphon's face faded in the blink of an eye, replaced immediately by a smile that nearly split his head in half. "Okay? No, my boy... thy kiss was perfection... thy touch: pure euphoria... my every second with thee: heaven."

Unable to tell whether he was being overly dramatic or if our close contact had some kind of metaphysical sensation for him like it had for me, all I was really able to accomplish was to blush profusely. He didn't really give me a chance to consider it though since his spread arms turned into an invitation for a fresh hug. I didn't miss out, moving immediately to him and renewing our embrace. His wings folded but, rather than settling on his back, they wrapped around me just like his arms, engulfing me in a cocoon of Gryphon feathers.

Assuming Jack's physical form were to have the mass his spirit form seemed to, then he would have easily outweighed me by thirty or forty pounds; at that moment, he felt surprisingly physical. As I remained in his arms, it became that much more evident that the couple of inches he had on me made a difference and, as he continued to be tangible, the Gryphon rotated us and, before I knew it, he was withdrawing his wings and I had my back against the wall. From there, he leaned down and instigated our second kiss, proving without a doubt that he hadn't minded the first one.

I smiled even as he attempted to imitate my initial move. He may not have had lips, but it didn't seem to stop him from trying, and it got my heart speeding all the same. Yes, the thought of a carnivorous raptor-lion hybrid looming over me should have kicked in some kind of fight or flight instinct, but there was nothing about Jack that felt like danger, at least, not to me. His very presence put me at ease, and I found it easy to let him take as much control as he wanted.

Even as he puzzled his way through the intimate contact my hands traveled his chest, reaching up to where his tunic was laced closed and I parted the fabric down to his abdomen by pulling it open; he shivered when my fingers slid into his chest fur, which was so light a shade of yellow as to almost be white. On the rare occasion I'd been able to touch the fur elsewhere on Jack's body it had felt coarse but the short, slightly-curled fur of his chest was so incredibly soft. His shivering got so bad, in fact, that his beak began to rattle and I slowly disengaged. "Are... are you alright, Jack?"

Eyes closed, the Gryphon lowered his head until our foreheads touched, and he spoke softly. "I am better than I have ever been, my boy."

I swallowed the tightness developing in my throat before I addressed the subject that had been on my mind since my lips touched his beak. "Do you-- would... I mean... are spirits able to... do... more intimate things?"

Jack's body enveloped mine as he pulled me close again, his feathery brow brushing against my temple, nose, and cheek. "Yes. Sprits can... and may... and will..." He slowly pulled away, opening his eyes, which gleamed with such powerful Golden light that it illuminated his features in the dim light of the house. Although one talon remained on my hip the other caressed the side of my face as he spoke softly, voice quivering with emotion. "...that is-- if thou wouldst have me."

My mouth went dry as I considered what it was he proposed-- or had I proposed it? The thoughts were all a jumble in my mind as my hands continued to travel their way across his body, drawing his tunic back and revealing more and more of his finely built frame. Jack had the build of a warrior, but it was tempered by a lithe athleticism that suggested that his physicality was far more than brute strength. Having very nearly lost my nerve twice, I chose not to linger on indecision, and instead moved things forward. Clearing my throat, I managed to speak. "Will you follow me to the bedroom?"

Although I'm not entirely sure how, his tunic had somehow come off of him and I found myself holding it in my hands. He reached up and took hold of the hanging portion so we could each grip it, and he spoke softly but surely. "Richard, my boy, needst thou even ask? I would follow thee freely to the ends of the Earth."

I led him to the bedroom, not that he didn't already know the way, but he followed obediently a step behind me. I pushed the door open with my foot and turned around as we entered, letting go of my hold on his tunic so I could put my hands on his body once again. Jack smiled warmly, gleaming eyes bright with Golden light; it was obvious I had his entire attention. The Gryphon let go of the tunic and it dissolved in a whiff of yellow smoke before hitting the ground. Even as my hand drifted down to his hips he drew closer still.

His beak lowered, brushing softly through my hair as if he were preening me and his talons brushed up beneath my shirt, drawing lightly across my back as he spoke. "How is it a Spirit such as myself could be so lucky as to have one such as thee to call mine?"

I smiled, even as he reached down to pull my shirt up. I compiled, letting him undress me, and he tossed my shirt onto a nearby chair. Both bare to our waist, we renewed our embrace, and I took the opportunity to reply. "You've had that luck for eighteen years... I'm just starting to realize how lucky -I- am."

Jack rested his beat atop my head, pulling me into an even tighter hug; his belly fur felt amazingly soft; his entire body was... though I was astounded to feel something hard in the front of his pants. Looking back at things, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised, but I recovered quickly. At that moment, just as the logical part of my mind caught up to the part driven by hormones, I--
