Aro has a lot of money riding on this battle between the kobold ranger Baze and the burly dwarven man. Can she win, and what happens to him if the outcome doesn't go the right way...?

Aro sits in the back row of the spectator's seat, his hand clutching his bet tightly. The drink in his hand rattles as his nerves finally build up. No amount of casual fornication can get him past the shadow of what looms overhead, past the fogged glass of the upper floor and the shadowed form of the Mistress of the Muddy mistress.

The crowd cheers when the first contender steps out to the middle of the floor. Baze had stripped down and rolls her shoulders, making herself limber for the match ahead. On the other side is a surly dwarf, body covered in runic clan tattoos and spouting taunting jeers through his beard.

She's a very different animal out on the battlefield, her eyes narrowing as she sloshes through the pit. She stalks her opponent like a hunter with prey and jumps in, her strong upper body giving her the instant advantage.

As the two splash down into the muddy pit, the audience cheers, each for their own reasons. Some of them are generations removed from the original sportsmen and women who did battle in such conditions for their very survival. Others are lecherous dogs lapping up the fetishistic glee of close combat. And others, much like Aro, are there for only one thing. “Come on… come on…" he says, further creasing his ticket.

Baze whips around the back of her opponent, getting him into a hold, her underbelly rubbing up against his back as she pins him down, face bubbling in the dirt.

Aro looks upwards, seeing the feminine shape looking down to her patrons, but her form obscured. He also looks off to the side, where two men dressed in matching black garments await. They do not watch the show. Instead, they watch him.

He gives them a false smile and glances back down on the ticket. All that he had taken from that one kobold back in that no-name town is riding on this. What the mistress doesn't know won't hurt her, and if he can pay off his debt with her own money, does that even matter? Besides, the playing field is nice and balanced

Baze's eyes droop slightly, and the kobold shakes her head. Her grip lessens, and the dwarf knocks her on the snout with his elbow. She falls back, shaking her head. What was going on?

The dwarf stands up and drops down with his elbow right onto her stomach, knocking the ar right out from under her before he goes in for a pin of his own.

“Ye think ye can make a mockery of me, lassie?" THe dwarf says. “I'll show ye what a real fighter can do. Ye got none o yer prissy nature magic the help ya down here!"

Aro bites his lip as the dwarf holds her down, the fighter's hand moving to her mouth and covering it. She fights to keep her face upward, but he tilts it toward the mud, a classic suffocating maneuver almost guaranteed to get an opponent to tap out.

Aro feels a hand upon his shoulder, and he looks up to see one of the two men looking down upon him. “Time to go, bard," he says in a gruff voice.

“I… I'll have the money." He says. “Honest, look." He holds the ticket upwards.

The man looks at it and quirks an eyebrow. “Weren't you just shacked up with that lizard?"

Aro swallows the lump in his throat. “Y… yes. How perceptive of you. That's right, and… and now she's fighting. Y-you see?"

The man shakes his head and removes his hand. “Let's see where this goes. I'm actually a bit interested." He says, showing the ticket to his companion.

The other man whistles.

Baze, knowing full well the rules of engagement, plants one foot firmly down, sinking into the muddy embrace of the titular pit. She then puts all of her force into her other leg, rising it up and smashing the dwarf right in his jewels.

Her opponent goes cross-eyed with pain, which gives her enough of an opportunity to shove him off of her with her strength and roll on top of him, sitting upon his lap as she pins his wrists down to the mud. “Sorry, but it's survival of the fittest. You know… you weren't half-bad, dirt miner." Though she holds him down, she pants, finding herself much more exhausted than she normally would be. Was the sex really that good? But without worrying about that, she smiles and leans in, saying. “Though, if those rocks of yours still work after this, I wouldn't mind taking another tumble with ya in private.

The dwarf, groaning, calls up from the mud. “I yield, I yield!"

Through raucous laughter and cheers, Baze is announced the winner of the fight, and the proud owner of the winnings.

“Congratulations!" One of the serving girls says, handing Baze her sack of gold. “The mistress would like to invite you to fight again, if you're feeling like increasing your winnings."

“No, thanks," Baze says, tying the pouch to her belt. “I actually have someone I need to talk to…"

Aro is dragged outside by the two men, the bard blubbering and begging before he's tossed into the carriage. His two bouncers slid in on either side of him just to make sure he won't be able to escape. One of them holds up the ticket, waving the crumpled thing in front of the bard. “Real smooth move betting against your fuckbuddy, Mr. Bard," the capo says. “Bet she didn't even figure out you charmed her."

“You better hope she didn't," the other said. “Cause you're not a man who can afford to lose friends."

“Hell, you can't afford to lose anything at all!"

The two of them slap their knees in uproarious laughter as the cart driver takes him away, off to Calin, and off towards their boss.

The bard, looks downward, but instead of making prayers of atonement, he readies himself another set of charms. For, if he was going to be taken to see Vijaya, he wasn't going to go without a fight.
