Chapter Ten: Fall of the Neuroseekers, Part One
Dustin looked forward in the darkness of the sewers as he saw the Neuroseekers in front of him, as they came forward towards him. He didn’t even try to know what they were going to say, it was probably some sort of phrase on how they had finally caught him.
The shark stood still against the wall, as suddenly Colin and Elias exited from the perpendicular tunnel. He smiled, the Neuroseekers had taken the bait and now they had fallen into the trap that was set. Bright formed his arm into a blade and sliced through the group while Colin performed crowd control.
All but one of the Neuroseekers were gone at this point, which meant it was his turn to come in. As Colin and Bright kept him in the area, as Dustin placed his hand against the soldier’s armored vest and raised him up into the air. He could smell the fear that was coming off the scared man and he loved it.
“You know that vest can resist up to 56mm bullets, but I wonder what happens if we send an icicle traveling at 140 meters per second through it?” Dustin said, sadistically licking his lips as he did so ponder the thought. The Neuroseekers had taken a loved one away and know he’d see how much damage he could do running through the sewers.
Pausing for a second of suspense, he knew he had the solider on the line as he felt his shaking and the smell he gave off. It was pure fear, he had smelled it many times in his life; sometimes giving it off himself. He had finally found why Ronan loved to smell it.
Dustin looked over to Bright and Colin who gave him looks of semi-disappointment; he knew they were probably right. This wasn’t the morally high route; or the route of an Outsider, he was sinking further down the morality chain and he was close to rock bottom, but he knew that he needed to get near to the Neuroseeker’s level in order to rescue Ronan.
“Now then do you have a family?” Dustin asked, to a reluctant nod from the man.
“Do you love them?” Dustin asked again, the smile on his face appearing and extending. The man once again nodded, only helping Dustin in his war path.
“And do you want to see them again?” Dustin asked one last question, the piercing question that would break him and give him the information he needed, the location of Ronan and how to get to him and how to save him. He needed that information, he needed to save Ronan.
“So then tell me where Nightshifter is or else your family will wake up with a little mail package, with red hair.” Dustin said, sadistically smiling as he pulled the helmet off the man and looked at his guilty face. The man suddenly bit down on something in his mouth, and Dustin dropped him as the soldier’s mouth started to foam.
“Dammit!” Dustin yelled out as he punched into the nearby wall. Colin and Bright nearly tripped as Dustin’s powers activated in the angry and pulled the toxic sludge. Dustin started to breath and foam in his mouth as well; he was burning angry, his skin turning red and his eyes having an intense look.
“Idiots!”
Colin and Bright backed up as Dustin’s anger over took his personality and he was replaced by a bull of anger. The wall started to crumble as the Outsider consciously punched the wall. Finally Dustin got everything out of his system and turned back towards his friends.
“Ok, we need a different plan.” Dustin said as he cooled off, putting his hand behind his head and taking a deep breath. Colin and Bright took a breath of relief as well, thankful they wouldn’t be the targets of Dustin’s anger. The shark was finally pushed to his limit, but it seemed to Bright that Dustin always had the sadistic capability.
“I say we strike them close to home, we find Ivorphax and strike then; find his map to their base and then we go; kick ass and get Colin back.” Dustin said as everyone seemed a bit too ashamed to answer his question. Dustin looked at them as he realized they had opposed his plan.
“What do you have a problem with that?” Dustin asked as he looked at Colin and Bright. They only frowned at him. “What is my aura so affected by this that it disturbed you, is it such a problem to get the revenge we deserve?”
Colin looked away, in the span of a few days he had never seen such a dramatic change in someone’s aura. It was unprecedented; he had no experiences from before to back up his ideas. Before Dustin was such a nice aqua blue, but now that he followed with rage his color turned into a purple at first and then it changed into a burning red.
Colin backed up as he saw Dustin approach him; he knew he couldn’t handle the shark’s rage. Bright stepped forward and placed his knife arm in front of him to protect him, Colin nearly blushed.
“Listen, Dustin I’ve seen you before; this is not you. Dustin you are nice and soft but this isn’t what you are, what you stand for. This is mad, all I say is that you should slow down and rethink this approach.” Colin said as he tried to make one last appeal to Dustin’s logical senses, hoping the shark he once knew would return. The lizard was frightened of what Dustin would do, how far he would go now that he was unchained.
“We all go a little mad sometimes, but I see that Ronan’s loss isn’t affecting you two as much; maybe you set him up, maybe you have been a part of this conspiracy along; setting up the pieces. And you Elias, or is that even your real name?” Dustin started to say as Colin realized that this crazy train had derailed.
“No, he gave me that name; my real name is Bright; remember Kagen Lord or some crap like that.” Elias said as he put his hand on his chest and tried to convince Dustin that he was who he was. “I miss Ronan as well, and so does Colin but he is safe; the Neuroseekers have gotten the message and will know not to hurt him.”
“You’re right, you’re right; I’m sorry the heat got to me.” Dustin said as he took a breath again and realized he was operating a little out of normal parameters. Colin and Elias took a breath of relief knowing that they had at least Dustin’s logical sensors back online.
“More than the heat, am I right?” Elias said as Colin nudged him. Dustin was back to a purple color for now at least so they were pretty good now.
“You’re right Dustin, why don’t we go back up to the surface go get a cone of ice cream, go have a slumber party or something and then next morning we can start looking for Ronan again.” Colin said as he turned Dustin around and instead attempted to appeal to his child like wonder.
“You guys have ice cream in this world too, oh god this is awesome.” Elias said as Colin apparently played to his sense as well. They found their way out of the solider infested sewers. The world was different now, people knew about the Neuroseekers. They were a threat now and they had to deal with them.
And so looking out it seemed they were in the hot seat. Climbing out of the sewer at Battery Park they looked out into the New York Harbor and to Lady Liberty and the construction going on behind her to raise the dam a few more feet. The thick trees getting placed in; concreate then poured around them.
And so as they looked forward to the future it seemed that hard choices would have to be made. They would have to deal with the Neuroseekers and they would need to do something. And what they had to do wouldn’t be an easy choice, and how they would act would be watched.
“So then today we get ice cream and tomorrow Ivorphax.” Dustin said with a glee of a child. Colin stopped and looked at Dustin again, he was getting back into the red zone and Colin felt a bit worried. Bright looked at him as well as if to ask him what to do with Dustin.
“Dustin don’t you feel that you’re going just a bit far with this situation?” Colin asked hoping he could bring out a better response from Dustin and maybe turn him back to the good side again. Dustin stooped and looked at them, turning his head and smiling at them.
“You guys think that I’m going too far, I’m only beginning. I will finally manage to be a true shark.” Dustin said as he smiled and put his hands together. Colin saw the red appear in Dustin’s body and backed off as the shark turned around and happily skipped on his way.
…
Hearing a knock on his door, Ivorphax flung himself out of the bed and a put on a nearby bathrobe to at least seem half-descent. Yawning to himself as the knocking continued, he walked out of his bedroom and into his living room. Feeling the early morning light on his skin was something different, and he walked towards the knocking.
“Alright mates, I’m coming don’t get your knockers in a twist.” Ivorphax said as he spoke and the knocking stopped. Walking forward at the door, he leaned towards the peep hole and looked through the door trying to figure out who was visiting him this early in the morning.
As he looked out into the hallway, he saw a young human in a green and tan uniform, with a smile on her face and holding multiple boxes of cookies. Ivorphax sighed he knew that he now had to buy some from her or else he would look like a complete monster to everyone else.
Laughing at that he unchained his door and opened it, suddenly he felt a jabbing through his heart. Before he could even react, he fell on the floor; blood running out of his back and staining the shag carpet underneath him. Riptide stood before him, smiling with a demented look as he started to bleed out.
“So then Ivorphax, we’ve have got some questions for you; did you like that trick with the perception filter, I hope we didn’t give you a jolt.” Riptide said quickly walking into Ivorphax’s apartment with Dustin and Colin behind him. Closing the door and grabbing Ivorphax by the legs he moved the rhino a bit more in to his apartment.
“Now then you only have five more minutes left on your clock and at that point; I’ll be sure you’ll expire, but don’t worry we’re going to have fun now.” Dustin said as he started to expand the blade of water in Ivorphax’s chest just to show him what he was capable of.
“So first question, where the hell did you take Nightshifter?” Dustin said as he bent down on the floor and looked at Ivorphax in the face. The rhino seemed to be reconsidering his response, considering his loyalty and how much he wanted to hurt.
“Sorry mate can’t tell you that, I’m kind of, just a little, ok more than a bit busy with this hole in my chest.” Ivorphax said snickering a bit as he restricted the flow of information to Dustin and pushed the shark a bit more towards the edge. He remembered what his master said; he saw what this shark could do.
“Oh you think that’s funny don’t you comedian.” Dustin said as he stood up and suddenly he rammed his foot into Ivorphax. Colin and Bright were looking through the Rhino’s house trying to find some sort of information as well. “So then we can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way? Kapeesh?”
“Not sure think I might have a “whole” lot of thinking to do in my last five minutes.” Ivorphax said laughing a bit as he made another pun to distract Riptide and hopefully give himself enough time to escape and call for back up.
“Really you’re going to do this, you really want to be screaming in agony don’t you; I’d say I’m not a sadist but you are really making this a fun day.” Riptide said as he activated his powers again; squeezing his fist; the ice particles started to expand and he saw Ivorphax become “wholly” uncomfortable as the icicle in his chest started to expand.
With his carpet stained red and his life beginning to end Ivorphax found himself in a strange place of peace. He felt like he easily could stand up and walk away, but he also didn’t feel the need to. As he lay on his shag carpet and thought about the end of his life in like thirty seconds he found himself at peace with himself and the universe.
And with one more squeeze, ice shards protruded out of the main icicle and into Ivorphax’s important bits. Hearing the Rhino cry out once more time, and a large flow of blood spill out against the nice carpet, he knew that Ivorphax had expired. And thus one of the leaders of the Neuroseekers was gone, they only had one more.
“So then find this map, we need to surprise Master Sidorous.” Dustin said as he looked at Ivorphax and lowered his eyelids. Walking over to the couch, the shark grabbed a blanket and placed it over Ivorphax, allowing him and the blood stained carpet to have their respect.
“I can’t believe he left the map so out in the open.” Colin said as he heard Dustin talk about finding the information. Bright walked forward and held up the flash drive, even though Colin couldn’t see it he could figure out that Bright was holding something important.
“Should we give it to him?” Elias asked knowing that Dustin was properly off the rails and possibly beyond their control. Colin sighed, they were close to finding Ronan; his location was in a flash drive in front of them, and he knew that finding Ronan was Dustin’s goal, so perhaps if he completed his goal Ronan could act as a better mortality chain and keep Dustin on the straight and narrow.
“We should; Dustin we found information on the whereabouts of Ronan…”
Before Colin could finish his sentence, the shark was already at the door. He looked at the flash drive and grabbed it out of Elias’s hand. Dustin smiled, he was practically so close to Ronan he could feel it, he needed to find Ronan, and if he found Ronan he could end this.
…
So they made plans and they found themselves, five hour later in the sewers again. Walking forward, Colin and Bright were about twenty feet behind him. Sure normally they’d be closer, but this time there was a little something between them. In this case, a massive fifteen foot thick wall designed to fit and slide through the subway.
So walking forward he approached the location that Ivorphax had given them. As he walked into the light, the Neuroseekers soldiers noticed him and turned towards him. Dustin stopped moving and walked back into his ice. Changing into his ice form, he stuck himself in the middle of the ice block. Walking forward with the ice block as his shield he prepared for an invasion.
The Neuroseekers fired on him, launching their bullets into his ice block. Tighten his fist; with sheer will he made sure that only a little bit of ice flew off. Walking forward, he felt the bullets as they struck the ice but he endured for Ronan. So continuing forward he sectioned off pieces of ice and the chunks that were knocked off.
Stopping the ice, he instead transferred the kinetic energy from the block into the much smaller chunks and they flew forward. Traveling at a much faster speed and being much larger than bullets; the Neuroseekers were knocked down as the ice bullets launched into them.
Looking forward at them, he expected a little more from them as the entire platoon seemed to be knocked down in cold blood. So continuing forward, he pushed himself out of the ice block and forward. It looked to be that he was in some sort of prison for the Neuroseekers.
Dustin looked to his left and saw the control panel. Looking up their appeared to be a camera system and looking at the panel; the system looked old. It was quite old in fact, perhaps half-a-century old. He saw the image of Ronan sitting in a cell as he quickly ran into the prison block and towards Ronan.
The wolf noticed him and Dustin stopped at his cell, a piece of ice in his cell. Dustin placed himself against the cell and looked in. Ronan looked so alone, so sad, and so lonely. Placing his hands against the cell seemed to awaken Ronan from his deep thought and he stood up.
“You’re here; I didn’t think you ever find me.” Ronan said sounding particularly thankful.
“Stand back, I’ll cut down the bars.” Dustin said as he held up the chunk of ice in his hands. Dustin formed water in his hand and sliced through the bars, collapsing them. He pulled down the bars and Ronan was free from his hell. Ronan ran out and put his arms around Dustin.
“You’re my hero, but I know where the real leader of the Neuroseekers is; I know who he is, we can stop them today.” Ronan said as he and Dustin embraced. Dustin had a look of happiness on his face and they kissed as they were reunited.
…
“So this is it, are you sure you want to do this?” Ronan said as they stood outside the barrier between them and the final base of the Neuroseekers. Dustin took a breath and looked down past the water moat and towards the soldiers themselves. They looked nervous as they held onto the bridge remote. Bright and Colin stood behind them, talking behind their backs and probably speaking about what Ronan and Dustin would do.
“We are going to do this, this is finally the end of the Neuroseekers and this is what we are going to do.” Dustin said as Colin tilted his head and examined the Outsider’s aura. He was calmer, Ronan seemed to drain the red horrible aura out of him and Dustin seemed to be normal.
“You idiots, why do we have to do this now! Of course you want to do this, without a plan and without back up; what if we’re captured or worse. Think of something better, but take time to envelop that information as the stress of the teenage years is something not to mess with.” Bright said as he yelled at Dustin but quickly found himself talking in a softer tone.
“Have we ever planned?” Dustin asked as he brought up a legitimate reason. “The last time we planned something, we lost Ronan, and gods help us if we try to do this with major thinking.”
“Go on then, don’t keep us waiting and don’t do anything stupid.” Colin said as he took a sigh of relief and allowed the offensive Outsider to make his way into the base. He was sure that Dustin would be able to keep his cool so long as Ronan was protected.
And Colin looked as the shark raised his hands up and the water moat raised up with him. The Neurotrooper soldiers moved out of the way in fear and the bridge chained started to creak as Dustin’s water tendrils pulled down the bridge. The wood slammed down on the other side and Dustin allowed Ronan on the bridge as they started to improvise.
“Ok, let’s do this.” Dustin said as he patted Ronan on the back and walked in front of him. Standing at the front of the bridge he waved his arms for a second. “Now then Neuroseekers you’ve seen me before, you know the stories, heard what I will do, you know what happened Ivorphax.”
Suddenly there were crowds of swarming Neuroseekers, all ran past Dustin. The shark started to laugh as he let his reputation get to his ego and he laughed a bit more. Putting his arms in the air, he spun around as the Neuroseekers all ran past him.
“I let my reputation get behind me; I guess being the King of Sharks has its own benefit.” Dustin said as he laughed out loud and watched the people swarm past him, all afraid of him. Colin was confused, normally Ronan would have told Riptide to calm down and tell him not to let his lies get to his head.
Dustin walked forward as the swarm of people stopped and went through the familiar hallway, feeling the computers he knew that this was the end of the Neuroseekers and so he walked into the ballroom and saw the old Master Sidorous standing before him.
“Well then old man, you stole my boyfriend; I think we might have some beef to settle.” Dustin said as he walked onto the balcony overlooking the Balcony and jumped off, slowing himself as he landed on the ground. Looking at Sidorous he looked weak, but he was strong.
“Ah yes, well shame you won’t get your revenge.” Sidorous said as he dropped the cane he stood on and seemed to be standing up just fine. Pulling his cape up and showing his old wrinkled hands, crackles of electricity spared as he allowed Dustin to know his power.
“Ah lightning, how much I do love being shocked; you three stay behind this is my battle.” Dustin said, Colin looked down on Dustin and tried to figure the aura that the shark was going one. It seemed to be impossible; Dustin couldn’t decide to fight or to murder Sidorous.
So Dustin walked forward, spreading his hands out and revealing a ball of water in his hands. He walked forward and froze the water, he knew that he didn’t have to use water much ice was his friend and he was probably the one who used it the most.
Sidorous fired at him, Dustin quickly reacted as he jumped out of the way of the electric jolt. As the wall behind him, crackled he threw forward his ice and the old man threw a blast of water and vaporized it instantly. Dustin moved back and felt the water moat behind him.
He pulled the water but instead like a magnet pulled himself on the wall. He ran against the wall preparing and plan as he turned against Sidorous and prepared another plan. Jumping off and pushing himself forward, he crashed into Sidorous and felt the electrons surge into his body.
He took a second to breathe and pulled Sidorous up off the ground and felt the old man rumbled. Suddenly he was blasted back against the wall as the old man fought him.
Above the fight, Colin looked around and suddenly he felt a different aura in the building. It could have been a solider but he looked short and younger than a fighter for the Neuroseekers. He stood up and backed up, sneaking behind and Bright and tried to find a path to the aura.
He stumbled through the path ways and found himself approaching the area. Colin finally rumbled through the hallways and found himself standing in front of the child. He looked to be about fifteen years old, but he felt older strangely; he was maybe as old as Dustin.
He felt a power in this old child and looking forward, he placed his hand on the child. Suddenly his hands were glued on the child and his mind was invaded by memories.
He found himself in the sewers in the eyes of the very child he was attached to. Looking around he saw his hands and then looked over, a small shark stood next to him and seemed to be pushing him on. It was Dustin, he could see the small shark in the same black hoodie and cargo shorts.
Colin wondered why Dustin was hanging out with this strange knocked out child, was it perhaps that the Neuroseekers too kidnapped another on of Dustin’s friends, maybe that is why he continued. Backing up he found himself still in control of the tiny body.
They were in the sewers, was this why Dustin knew his way around the sewers and inversely the reason they spend a massive amount of time in the underground. He saw a crack in the wall and walking forward; he placed his head under the crack and followed it into the crevice.
He found himself at a moderately sized rock room with a raised stone altar in the center. Dustin joined him and he couldn’t hear, feel, or taste; but based on what the shark was saying, and his sight told him that he should walked on to the altar.
As he did, a stone pillar rose out of the ground and in the center; there was a necklace. It was the one he saw on Octavian. He placed his hand on the pillar and so did Dustin. As they both touched the necklace, suddenly he was blasted back.
His body burnt and his eyes shut for a second. When he awoke, Dustin looked concerned; he grabbed the necklace and quickly ran out of the room leaving him alone. He felt in pain but suddenly he heard voices in his head above and around him. He awoke and placed his hands on his head.
Walking out of the room and into the sewer he heard so many voices, and he felt lonely and abandoned. He heard the voices and they seemed to be of New York citizens. Colin felt a name come to him, Stephen. He backed up in fear as the memories came to him.
“Hello child.”
Time skipped. He looked; Master Sidorous and Captain Ivorphax stood before him. He felt a little taller and a little older, so maybe a year or so passed. He looked at them and his hand was being held out.
“We the Deathseekers and you, Stephen will be our leader; you can figure all futures, you can see them as well. Together we will be the Neuroseekers.” Ivorphax said as they shook hands and together the deadly trinity was formed. Suddenly his hand was unstuck and he pulled away, he took a few breaths as he dealt with that experience.
Colin looked at the child, no Stephen and saw the child was waking up. He backed away and back towards the group he needed to get away. Of course, the child was a threat and he shouldn’t have waked him up. Colin realized himself slamming against the walls as loudly as possible wasn’t helping either.
He scuttled back to Bright hopefully he was in the ballroom again and like that suddenly there was an influence on his mind; the child had woken up and he was coming. Yet he couldn’t say anything or move his body; Bright nor Ronan wouldn’t know of the super powered child that was approaching him.
And then suddenly all three of them were knocked off the balcony and landed in the ballroom putting a nice stop to Sidorous and Dustin’s battle. As Colin, Bright and Ronan all dusted off and looked behind them suddenly something didn’t feel right, something felt off plan.
“It’s a trap!” Colin yelled as he turned around and saw Ronan turning towards Dustin in a particularly threatening pose. He realized that this was all just a set up, but instead of going to a punch line; it led to their fall. Jumping on Ronan, he slammed the wolf down to the ground and felt around grabbing the knife in his hands and throwing it on the ground away from them.
“Well, howdy, howdy, howdy; looks like you know what’s going on here.” Ronan said as his aura suddenly became black, his body mixing in with the normal darkness he saw; Ronan was invisible to him. Colin backed up and Bright got him as Dustin stood and looked confused.
“What do you mean that something is going on here; why did you have that knife pointed at me, you didn’t want to hurt me?” Dustin said as he tried to hold on to the benefit of the doubt, that it could be a misunderstanding. Screaming in pain once more Dustin was shocked again by Sidorous.
“And know young Outsider, you will die.” Sidorous said being melodramatic as he slowed down the arcs for a second and allowed Dustin to stand up. As the shark did before he could move again, he continued the shocking. Dustin felt betrayed by Ronan.
Elias saw Ronan run to the knife and knew that he needed to be stopped from trying to kill Dustin. Feeling his arm shape into a knife he ran forward at Ronan and slashed at him. Ronan just barely pulled away his arm and thrusted his knife forward; Elias reacted pulling away his skin and forming a metal hole where Ronan stabbed.
He jumped up pulling his body around the knife and at the top turning into a blob of liquid metal as he pushed himself down and landed on top of the wolf. Ronan started to struggle with liquid metal Elias as he tried to choke and knock out Ronan. Suddenly he felt through Ronan and on to the floor.
Ronan ran at Sidorous and Dustin, as Elias reformed and fired a blast of liquid metal at Ronan. Ronan tripped on the liquid metal and landed on the floor. Elias walked forward as his arm metal came back towards him and absorbed back into his body; Elias knew he had to keep on fighting.
Meanwhile it wasn’t so rosy for Dustin. Putting his hands forward and trying to arc the electricity into his body. He didn’t have much longer he stand that. And as it just barely came to much, he was blasted back against the wall. Dustin just wanted to lie against the ground, and let death come to his side.
“Come on you started today so confident, finish the day confident you know you can; it’s easy and simple; do something kill two Neuroseeker Generals in one day, you’ll be revered by population.” Sidorous said as he stopped the arcing of the electricity and instead put his arms out and looking at Dustin closed his eyes and waited.
Dustin took a few breaths in and out to just absorb the situation; Ronan has gone rouge and looked to currently be choking on Elias as he spoke. He felt depressed, he slid down against the wall further and realized that this entire day and everything he did was a waste because of that. And that saddened him.
Dustin stood up and looked at Sidorous; if he got rid of him then he got rid of the Neuroseekers and maybe without the Neuroseekers then Ronan would finally come back to them. The shark stood up spreading out his arms and going for a traditional pose.
Dustin walked forward and felt his skin turn to ice; he had command of his ice form he had mastered it. So walking forward he let the water spill out of his hands and he froze it. Sidorous smiled as Dustin sent the icicle bullets forward at him. The old man fell to the ground along with the rest of the Neuroseekers.
Ronan stopped and dropped the knife. As it seemed all the fighting had stopped, and Dustin suddenly felt the chills of his sins running up his back. He like most of the group at that point turned towards the balcony; someone important was coming he could feel it.
“I can feel Twilight’s power growing; I can sense him coming. But something is different.” Elias said as he formed his hand into the blade. He looked up at the balcony and suddenly Stephen appeared. Colin stood up and finally felt himself able to speak.
“Watch out this is the power you felt.” Colin said as suddenly he was able to look behind Stephen and see the massive army of aura behind him. There was no way they could escape. Colin backed up; fear appearing in his heart as he knew that he couldn’t escape.
“What’s wrong?” Elias asked holding onto Colin as they backed up and looked the head appearing on the balcony. He felt Colin shaking and didn’t know if they’d be able to hold off whatever the lizard was seeing, before Colin could say anything he knew they were surrounded.
“So Dustin we meet again.” Stephen said as he came up to the balcony and held his position there; behind him with his whim and a snap of a finger he could summon four hundred Neuroseekers to surround those fools. He stood still and kept waiting, gauging the reactions.
“No you can’t be alive, you were lost to the sewers, and they couldn’t find you. I thought you had died.” Dustin said with a great shame on his chest, it seemed that he at least felt a little better he hadn’t let someone alone in the sewer.
“You still left me alone with mental superpowers in the sewers, of course these two would come and find me; shame you made a mess on the floor thought, don’t know who’s going to have to clean it up.” Stephen said as he pushed the metaphor knife further into Dustin’s chest.
“Now then Outsiders, your defenses have failed.” Stephen said as he knocked Colin back against the wall, knocking him out. Bright ran over to him and he too was knocked out against the wall. Dustin looked over to Ronan, who had a red look in his eyes.
“No, not you; you can’t do this.” Dustin said backing up as he realized what happened to Ronan.
“Hail to the Neuroseekers.” Ronan said as he punched Dustin and knocked him out. Dustin landed against the floor and the Neuroseekers rushed into the room surrounded the knocked out Outsider. Ronan walked up the steps and looked at Stephen.
“Now then we move to our next target. Take the lizard with us.” Stephen said as they walked out of the base, one of the soldiers grabbing Colin and dragging him along as they left. The Outsiders had fallen and so would New York.
…
The Mayor had never had to deal with a knocking on the door of city hall; no one was ever stupid enough in the history of New York to play ding-dong ditch with the Mayor himself. So as he rubbed the crust out of his eyes and walked to the front door.
Grabbing the handle he expected no one to be at the front entrance, but he would at least open the door, so give the kid his satisfaction. So pulling open the massive door of City Hall, suddenly a gun was pointed against his waist. He was shot and he fell against the floor.
“Oh shame, sorry old mayor you were in the way and know you’re making a mess on the floor.” Stephen said as he and Ronan walked in to City Hall. Ronan grabbed the massive key to the city and they walked up stairs as some of the Neuroseekers surrounded the mansion.
Walking to the top of the stairs, Stephen walked into the office and turned some knobs on some computer panels. He activated the emergency transmission system. And so as he walked down to the desk and sat down in the seat, Stephen knew the perfect words to say.
“Now then New York, the Outsiders have fallen and I have ten thousand Neuroseekers on reserve so, who wants to fight back?”
