Amatsu hummed to himself as he walked along the forest path, minding his own business as he looked up towards the night sky. The tauric Chocobo was taking a break from work down at the farm and from hunting monsters, and was taking some time off to just relax.

And on that road, he spotted a human going the same way. A fellow warrior, in his late twenties, if he was any good at estimating age.

"Hehe... I wonder if he'd care to join me tonight..." He chuckled, his giant talons leaving deep prints in the soft earth beneath him as he walked towards the lone human.

It didn't take Kevin long to spot Amatsu as the two got closer to one another. Chocobotaurs weren't the most common sight one encountered on the road, but he was used to them enough to not gawk. Still, the warrior was in good cheer, as his birthday was soon and he'd been promised a celebration.

"Been on the road long?"

"Depends on how you mean." Amatsu smirked. "I've been travelling for the good part of the afternoon, taking a break from my usual tasks. And you?"

"Heading back to town for my birthday." He smiled warmly.

"Well happy birthday to you!" He kweh'd happily. "Have you got any plans for today?"

Kevin paused for a second to think about this. Aside from a party, nobody had mentioned anything specific. "Nothing comes to mind. Just enjoying the day. Why?"

"Well I could show you a few of my favourite hang outs if you wish. I might even take you down to the farm where I help out at, and if you're lucky, ya might be able to leave with your own Chocobo!"

"My own chocobo? That would be awesome! And sure, I'd be fine with hanging out for a while!"

"Great! So where would you like me to take you first?"

"I dunno. Know anyplace with good food and comfortable seats?"

"Oh I know a little place not too far from here which also does some of the best food you'll find in this town." He smiled.

The human nodded and motioned for Amatsu to continue. "Well then, lead on! I'm Kevin, by the way."

"I'm Amatsukaze, but feel free to call me Amatsu." He responded. "It might be quicker if you get on my back."

"You don't mind?"

"Not at all, I wouldn't have offered you otherwise!"

He nodded, then climbed on the Chocobotaur's back once Amatsu had lowered himself enough for Kevin to reach. It felt a little odd, riding on the back of someone he could have a conversation with, but as long as the big bird didn't mind, he wasn't going to complain.

"Hold on tight!" Amatsu grinned as he dashed forwards, his great feet hammering against the ground as he dashed off towards the inn.

"Whoa! You're pretty fast!" The surrounding terrain whipped by them both as Amatsu made good speed towards the inn, arriving there in fairly short order. Kevin had to admit that it looked like a nice place, if a little out of the way.

"Why thank you, lots of practice." He giggled, lowering himself so Kevin could leap off his back. "I come to this place quite frequently.

"Looks like a nice place. Out of the way though..."

"I know, it's mainly used for romantic getaways, but if you ignore that, a lot of people to come here for the food. In fact I've been here so many times, I more or less have my own room!"

Kevin blushed a little at the thought of romantic getaways -- he hadn't imagined it would be a place like that. But the smell of the food soon reached his nose, and it didn't take a culinary expert to piece together why Amatsu said people enjoyed the food. It smelled nothing short of amazing. "Guess it pays to be a regular!"

"Oh it does. Let's have something to eat first, my treat!" He kweh'd. "Then if you want to, I can show you my room afterwards."

"May as well, sure. Got any recommendations for a first-timer?"

"Depends on what you like - there's steak, pizza, burgers, they're all pretty damn good!"

"Guess I'll have a pizza with some pepperoni, then!" He smiled as they walked up to the bar and started to place their orders. He didn't want to ask for too much - after all, they'd just met and he didn't want to take advantage of Amatsu's generosity.

Amatsu smirked as he looked towards the chefs - they knew him, and knew what he usually had planned for his guests, and they did usually help set things up.

The head chef nodded and as they were making the pizza, slipped some specially-treated greens into the pizza. Kevin wouldn't notice the difference, since the flavoring would be hidden by the other ingredients. But they all knew that the human wouldn't be leaving looking like he did just then.

Soon enough, the pizza was served, and Kevin found himself digging in. Aside from the faintest hint of bitterness that he couldn't quite place, the pizza was excellent.

"How do you like it?" Amatsu asked, eating his own pizza as he watched the human feast.

"Mmm...rrk...this is good stuff!" Kevin didn't quite notice the small squawk that had escaped his mouth as he finished off the last piece of the pizza, having found his appetite to be more ravenous than it usually was. He was also starting to feel oddly turned on for reasons he couldn't quite explain. "So, what next?"

Amatsu grinned. He was barely holding his own excitement back as he finished off his food. "Well next I was going to show you to my own personal room. If you're interested in seeing it, Kevin."

"Sure, I'd love to. Hell, we could probably do some jobs together!" He grinned at the thought of not only seeing Amatsu's room, but being able to spend a little more time with the guy. In their line of work, you only lasted as long as your friends, and it looked like he'd made one. "Oh I may have some jobs for you..." He grinned, seeing the feathers slowly sprouting. He knew the changes would go slowly until the main trigger was applied, noticing the human was a little taller than before.

"Oh, nice. Thanks for giving me a chance..." Kevin didn't notice the changes any as they reached Amatsu's room. It was nicely decorated, with a bed made for a bird of his size. There were also pictures of several of his friends up.

"Don't mention it." He chirped, showing him all the features around the room. "It's not just human company I have here - I've brought many a hen to this room."

"And they're lucky hens, I'm sure!" He chuckled, idly imagining what it would be like to spend time with Amatsu.

"Why do you think I changed you in the first place? It's not every day I make someone into a taur like myself." He winked. "A lot of time times they'll end up as feral Chocobo. Why do you think I have so many breeding hens at the farm?"

"And I wouldn't worry about the mess, that'll all be cleaned up very soon. Is there anything else you'd like to do before we head to your friend's party?" He asked.

"Nope! Let's get moving, Amatsu...I can't wait to see the looks on their faces!"

"Nor can I. Maybe we'll let them join our flock as well, if they're lucky!" He winked to Renlu.

"Hehe. I'd like that." He smirked as they left the room, the freshly-changed Chocobotaur leaving a nice tip at the bar. It always paid to be kind to the staff at inns and the like, as you never knew when you'd need some help. Even if this detour hadn't gone the way he'd expected, he wasn't about to complain.
