#9 of Sirius: Book one - The Beginning

A/N: Some of you may not like where this chapter went, but it is important in three main respects. I won't get into them because it'll ruin them, but it answers most of the questions.

Another A/N: Sorry, this chapter is short compared to the first ones, while I intended for a 1 and 1/2 length chapter today. I swear to you that the next chapter should be reasonably long!

Warnings: This chapter contains scenes of intense sadness, fear, and hospital-beddery. It also contains a referance to M/F yiff, but it's a negligable one, and I would appreciate it if it would stay in either the M/M or the No-Yiff section. This story contains sexual scenes performed between two males, a very in-depth plot, and the potential to succeed in it's author's goal of four 'books'. If you are in any way offended by any of this, or you are under the age of Majority (Usually 18) then please turn away now. You have been duely warned!

Chapter 9: 'The Week of Memories'

Axis looked in horror as the attending nurses closed the wounds. He was awestruck that anyone could do this to someone who was so much stronger in spirit than he; but he knew who it was. The doctor stepped back with the nurses, as though admiring an artwork, and the young fox pushed past them and clutched the paw of the unmoving form.

Jasyn lay there, on the medical bed, with three long scars across his chest; claw marks from his assailant. He barely breathed, but he was alive; thanks to the day-commander. The man walked up behind the young fox and rested his hand on Axis' shoulder. "Lieutenant Levi I imagine?" he asked, as Axis shook, agonized with rage.

He turned, whimpering a bit, and nodded at the man. "Y-yes... that's me," he replied, before turning to his wounded lover.

"The doctor told me that they've done the best they can do. It's up to his system now to recover. He's lost a lot of blood, though; they don't expect he'll be awake for a week, a few days at best," the man informed.

Axis' heart sank, and he turned to face the man, looking pitiful and alone. "Sir, I have to stay with him, I just have to. He's-"

"Of course, Lieutenant. You can stay here as long as you need to," interrupted the man, before he turned away, "I'll ask the doctor to bring in a chair for you."

Axis nodded and looked back at Jasyn, feeling the biting chill that one gets when their loved-ones are in danger. When the chair came, he promised himself that he would stay at Jasyn's side until the wolf came back to him.

--

When we met, it was like a dream to me. He looked so warm and caring, and yet he had a sense of militancy to him; I always liked that. I remember it like it were this morning...

He walked into the cargo bay grumbling about something, and started to clean the floor in the middle of the room. His hair wasn't as long, it was very messy, and he looked so adorable. I was lucky to avoid him for as long as I did, because it was also the first time I'd ever been aroused.

When he did catch me, our eyes locked and for a split second I felt safety. I knew right then that we were meant to be close, but I was only six; I barely knew what love was. I was so happy when I was with him, so peaceful, that if I could've; I'd have followed him everywhere.

Things were horrible on that ship, but I still miss them all, especially Atlas. He was my older brother, and he protected me before Jasyn did. He was ten when I met Jasyn; it was actually his birthday too. I was making him a present out of spare parts, and I needed a bolt to finish it; the only reason I was in the cargo bay was for that bolt.

He was always covering for me, and it was usually to the detriment of his personal well being. Even at the age of ten he had been used as a slave by some of the other breeds; the 'stronger' breeds. He could have single-handedly kicked their tails, but he didn't, and I only found out on my tenth birthday. Jasyn was protecting me from all of that personally, but Atlas came out to me that day.

"Axis," he said, "I've got something to tell you..." and he did.

At first I was confused, "Aren't boys supposed to like girls?" I had asked.

He shook his head and hugged me, before he told me about his sexuality. I guess I wanted to be a little like him, but I was never used as a slave.

--

Axis was startled awake the next morning by one of the nurses tapping him on the shoulder. He looked up at her and sighed drowsily. "Thank you Karen," he said, before turning his attention back to Jasyn.

--

His tenth birthday was the first time I ever saw him hit anyone, and he did it over me. I was so shocked when he hugged me, that I barely heard the order from the captain. I was so shy that he had to lead me by the paw into the room, and I immediately hated the Dalmatian. He was always cracking jokes about how weak foxes were.

I guess that stigma goes back a long time; in fact it probably hasn't left our world yet. Jasyn always called me 'Kit' or 'Axis', but everyone else called me 'Fox'; I felt inferior all the time.

Foxes had been used as slaves for both menial and carnal tasks on Sirius Beta as far back into history as anyone cared to record, and I always hated that fact. I would never get over how much Jasyn agreed with me on that, but he'd always been my strength.

That was why I was always hit and the older Sirians, mostly the wolves, would try to drag me away. Jasyn or Atlas would always step in, like they knew what was happening, and most of the time Jasyn would tell them that I was his, or Atlas would take my place. I guess they both thought I was special, but I can't blame them.

--

As Axis sat in the infirmary, Azuma was chuckling evilly.

"Look at this! Poetry, love poetry!" he said, grinning sadistically. "Written by the fox-slut," he added, snickering with malice.

"Oh we could do so many things to fuck with them," said Lynn with an antagonistic smile.

"Assuming the pansy actually survives, that is," grinned the Dalmatian again.

"Come on, let's go back to your place and celebrate

-- (No, I'm no good at M/F yiff and will therefore not write any, EVER!)

"His pulse-rate is normal, pressure is dangerously low though. He'll need at least another three days rest, even if he wakes up," explained Dr. Tavok. "As well, he'll probably have suffered some neurological stress, and a good deal of trauma. Can I trust that you'll help him with that, Axis?" she asked.

Axis was looking out the glass window at Jasyn, and looked back confused. "Hmm? Oh, right, of course I will," he replied, and then continued to stare. His cheek-fur was matted and stained with tears, his eyes puffy and reddening. He looked like hell incarnated into an arctic fox, but he had reason to cry.

Tavok reached out and laid her hand on his paw, smiling uneasily. "It'll be alright Axis. If things keep going like this then he should be fine. He'll just need to rest for awhile."

Axis nodded and got up. "Thank you Doctor..." he said, as he walked over to Jasyn's bed and sat down again. His mate was hooked up to a myriad of twisted tubes, feeding him intravenously, and all manner of monitoring equipment was hooked up to keep track of his vitals. Axis laid his paw down on Jasyn's once more and started to pray to the god Domir for his love's health.

"Oh divine lord Domir, the healer, please, hear me in my time of need," he started, tears welling up in his bloodshot eyes, "Please, don't take Jasyn from me. I need him, now more than ever; please return his health."

--

Jasyn had just finished his shift, and was climbing through the seldom-used maintenance ducts. He heard voices ahead, and continued to climb. This was one of the nights we had agreed to meet, and I was being hassled by someone just outside of the access way to the duct he was in.

He came out of the duct to see one of the boys pinning me to the wall. He was thirteen now, and he knew exactly what the boys were trying to do. One of them was a wolf that Jasyn ate with regularly, and the other, the one pinning me, was a strong Dalmatian who I hated with a passion.

Jasyn was asked if he'd like to join in, and he grinned sadistically, agreeing. He pushed the Dalmatian off of me and took to pinning me instead, an altogether more favourable position for me to be in. As if out of nowhere though, Atlas walked past and caught sight of me, trembling believably under Jasyn's developing arms.

They hadn't met yet; I didn't introduce them because I was afraid of what my parents would say. Atlas, however, ducked behind a corner and watched to see what would happen.

As if I had given a silent cue, Jasyn quickly flipped me around the corner and pushed me off; I ran as fast as I could, and Jasyn ran after me. From Atlas' point of view it must have looked like I'd wrenched free and he was chasing me, because he stepped out and shouted at Jasyn and the others. "Hey wolf! Why don't you try me instead?" he said, striking a pose. Jasyn looked back but kept running, and the other two were dumbfounded by the events. I knew it was Atlas who had taken the heat off of us, but now we were both in a bit of a mess; with Jasyn following me like that we had to get somewhere private, so I did the best thing I could think of, and that was to go to my quarters.

Jasyn followed me to the accommodations I shared with my older brother; pictures of him and I were everywhere. There were two beds, so that would be the biggest clue to Jayse that I didn't live there alone. He walked over to one of the pictures as I locked the door, and looked over at me.

"Kit?" he asked, eyebrow raised as he pointed to a picture, "Isn't this that fox in the corridor?"

I nodded and explained it to him. I had told Jasyn about Atlas, but not the other way around. I guess we lost track of time though, because Atlas wandered in looking dishevelled, his uniform uneven. He was walking with a bit of a limp, but he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Jasyn.

He ran over to me and asked me if I was all right, if Jasyn had hurt me, and I shook my head as Jasyn looked shyly upon Atlas. Atlas himself was sixteen now, but he was so mature.

I explained to him that Jasyn was my best friend, and he looked at me for a moment, before he turned to Jayse.

Jasyn introduced himself, and the two of them subconsciously vowed to protect me.

--

The Earth forces had searched the wreckage, hoping somehow that there would be survivors. Astonishingly, several people made it to an airlock, and as the ship imploded, the airlock was ejected from it. They were stuck in the cramped, ten by fifteen metre room, the five of them looking across at one-another. Luckily for them, a survey shuttle had spotted them and arrived as their air dwindled away, connecting with the airlock as it hurtled around the planet. Once they had gotten everyone out of it, they closed the hatch and disconnected, and within a minute it fell through the atmosphere, incinerating.

Among them were Sota, the wolf-captain's son, a husky mother and her young child, a Black Lab, and an Arctic Fox. When they landed, the Earth officials decided to send them off almost immediately. They had survived for three days in that tiny room; a one-in-a-million chance, that they had happened upon. They were extraordinarily lucky, and they were a week behind the first wave of ships.

--

Jasyn stirred a bit. It had been six and a half days now, since he had been injured. Axis shook Jasyn's paw hopefully, before alarms started to sound all around him.

The doctor rushed in and looked at the monitors. "He's going into pulmonary arrest!" she shouted, as she grabbed a syringe. Axis held onto Jasyn's arm for dear life, his tears starting to flow again.

"Jasyn... No!" he shouted, growling low in his larynx. He watched as the doctor pulled out the blood-tipped needle, Jasyn's pulse and blood pressure dropping still.

"No, dammit! I won't let you die on me!" exclaimed the doctor, grabbing a pair of electrical stimulators. She placed them on Jasyn's temples and told Axis to release him. Jasyn's body jumped and his blood pressure started to stabilize.

All Axis could do for the next ten minutes was cry; cry on Jasyn's chest, cursing the gods for doing this to him. He didn't move, even when the Doctor tapped him; he wanted to be with Jasyn.

--

"I cannot excuse your actions, Jasyn. You are never to see that fox again, understand?" barked Jasyn's father, looking down at him.

Jasyn growled and shouted back, "No, I do not understand! Why can't I protect him? Huh? What gave who the right to say I can't be his friend?"

I was sitting in the room too; we had just been caught in Jasyn's room. I was fifteen at the time. This was the week we arrived at Earth, or rather, before we arrived.

"Because it's the law Jasyn! He's not good enough to be your friend, so I want you to end the friendship now before you end up doing something stupid."

Jasyn drooped a bit, looking defeated before he glanced over at me and stared the man in the eyes, "You don't have any control over my personal life, dad. Axis is my friend, and that's the way things are!"

I'd never seen him look so fiery and passionate before. He really looked like he was going to throttle the older wolf; and he probably would have if I didn't speak up like I did.

"Sir, it's my fault, all of it. Don't blame him, please?" I pleaded. I hated the fact that Jasyn's father was so closed-minded, but I had to be civil.

"If you won't drop this whore of a fox, then I'll give the order to shoot him out an airlock," threatened the older wolf.

Jasyn looked back with a glint of victory in his eyes and said, "Do it, and I'll be right there beside him, father."

The older wolf looked stunned at first; his son had beaten him in an argument. He shook his head and sighed. "Fine, but Jasyn, you're going to regret it," he said, before he added, "You're both dismissed; get out of my sight."

That night I slept in his room, in his bed. It was the best night of my life, until the night we mated. Jasyn is my soul; I can't lose him; no, I won't lose him. I'll find a way to get him through this...

--

Axis was startled awake again. This time it had been Jasyn moving again; however the fox felt someone scratching into his head fur. His tears had soaked Jasyn's chest fur, through the blankets.

A weak and shaky voice spoke up. "Kit?" it said, and Axis looked up.

"Jasyn!" he shouted, the tears coming instantly as he hugged the wolf so close. Jasyn coughed again, wrapping an arm around his Kit, and the Doctor walked in.

"Kit..." Jasyn started, nuzzling the fox's cheek. Axis looked up and the wolf asked, "How long have I been here?"

Axis smiled a bit, seeing Jasyn's eyes again, before he said, "Six days, twenty-two hours, seventeen minutes. That's how long I've been here with you."

Jasyn smiled a bit, noticing the tears. Doctor Tavok walked over to the bed and smiled.

"Jasyn...? Who did this to you?" asked Axis, before looking his mate in the eyes again.

Jasyn was still lying back on the bed, but he slowly sat up and looked down at his bare chest. 'No scars' he thought, before he said a name quietly.

--

Being torn off of your mate and thrown in a cell was not the best way to wake up in the morning. The Sirian was irritable, and started to pound on the walls.

"Why am I being held here?" she asked with a shout.

The guard looked down the brig hallway, unwaveringly. A pair of familiar boys walked into view. One of them had pure white fur, and looked at her angrily, the other had silvery fur and smirked triumphantly.

"Thought you could get rid of me, eh Kathow?" mocked Jasyn with a snicker.

Axis just glared at her, clinging to Jasyn lovingly.

"So it is true! You're in love with a fox! Oh this is too much!" she laughed. Her blue collie eyes snapped open when she heard a cry of pain from down the hall.

Azuma walked up, his wrists magnetically locked together. He glared at Axis before he got thrown into the cell opposite Lynn. "Why is he here? He never did anything!" she pleaded.

Axis pulled out the threat-notes and aimed them at her. "Okay bitch, now these are all signed by spot here. Death-threats, rape-threats; he actually tried to rape me, again, a little over a week ago. That's reason enough for him to be here aboard this ship," the white fox taunted.

Jasyn snickered, "And when we get to Siribet, me and my Kit here are going to stay aboard and return to Earth with these wonderful people."

Axis kissed Jasyn openly, and then nuzzled into his chest. "Your own hatred got you here..." he said as a final taunt, before him and his love left for their quarters.

--

"Jasyn... you could really use a shower..." started Axis with a smirk as they walked into his room. "And I'm sure you'd like to return the favour from a week ago?" he added, flicking his tails as he walked into the room.

Jasyn shook his head and pulled his lover into a passionate kiss, saying against the fox's lips, "Not tonight... but I'll make sure to return the favour soon."

The young fox nodded and started to strip as he walked into the bathroom. It was simple, clean, and had a very crystalline look to it. Axis adored it, but he turned around and, as he kicked off his pants and boots, stepped into the shower, Jasyn close behind.

As they stood in the hot spray of the water, they cuddled. 'Thank you Domir,' thought Axis, looking up upon the beauty of his lover's eyes.

Jasyn looked back and was entranced by Axis' beauty aswell. He wasn't 'hot' or 'sexy', he was just Axis, and that was what Jasyn loved. 'Thank you, Axis, for looking out for me in turn," he thought.

They finished their shower, the auto-soap working deep into their fur. Then they dried off and went to bed, holding eachother close.

Axis dreamt about his brother, and how much he missed him while Jasyn dreamt about Axis, and how lucky he was.

It had been three days more since Jasyn awoke from his coma, and he was finally able to sleep in his own bed, or rather, in Axis' bed.

--

The three moons came into view over the horizon of 'The Battlefield Planet', and a young man prayed that he wouldn't have to fight another day. As a single tear fell from his bright green eyes, he caught sight of a pair of insectoid wings over the ridge of a heap of rubble. 'Please, just let them go away,' he silently pleaded, and the wings went on across the field. He was safe for another day.

More survivors from the Falchion! O.O Remarkable how they survived eh? What's this 'Battlefield Planet' though?

Jasyn, turning down a good, solid fuck? What's up with that!?, though he DID just recover, and it is a very cute shower scene, would you not agree?

I've already got the basic elements of Chapter 10: The chapter that will remain un-named until it's release, written out. I need to flesh it out a bit and give it a good whupping, pop it in the Word Processor and put my fingers on story, but all-in-all it will be a very eye-opening chapter for our heroes, and our 'villains', who are just villain-filler until the REAL villains show up.

Anyway, if you don't comment and you have before then I will feel inferior, and therefore unable to write another chapter. You don't want that do you? Hmm?

Cya! ^-^
