Islands of Wet Dreams, Chapter 4: The Forest of Fantasies
More of this patreon story, following Carl this time. Still trying to get away from that naga, and stuck with Studley. Which is both good...and bad.

Chapter 4: The Forest of Fantasies
By Draconicon
“Get off the boat, get off the boat, get off the boat get off the boat getofftheboat!”
Carl’s panic was getting the better of him as he kept sweeping the spare oar for the canoe at the naga that was chasing after them, managing to smack the big snake across the head a good number of times. Never more than glancing blows, but always enough to keep him from climbing on the rest of the way.
Panting hard, he jabbed the flat-end of the oar into the naga’s chest, almost knocking him off of the rear of the boat. He ducked the return sweep of the tail, keeping his eyes down to avoid those hypnotic, burning eyes.
“Studley, can’t you go any faster?”
“I could, if I had a katana or an engine, or something like that, but you were the one that wanted to leave the hot dog cart behind.”
“What the hell would that have done?!”
“Everything, and nothing, and probably something in between, for that matter.”
“You don’t make any - GAK!”
He grunted as the naga’s tail wrapped around his neck, pulling him up from the boat’s bottom. Carl struggled, the human pulling the oar up again, but the naga had grabbed it already, pulling it out of his hand.
“You have any idea how much that hurts? Not all of us scaly beings are armor plated, you know.”
“Ugh…”
“It’s not very polite to just grunt back, you know.”
It’s not easy to do anything else when you’re choking me out with your tail, either, he thought as he grappled with the scaly appendage. It was thick enough to be squeezing the life out of his neck already, and he scrambled to get some sort of handhold. It was thick enough that he should have been able to do something, but it was so tight to his neck that he ended up scratching himself instead.
The naga threw the paddle ahead of them, well out of reach, while Carl continued to dangle.
“Nnngh...please…”
“You know, it’s so much easier and so much more fun when you just go along with the whole thing. There’s nothing wrong with this island -”
“Debateable, really. I’ve seen a few things wrong with the way it’s put together.”
The naga looked around him, and Carl just sputtered with what little air he had remaining. Why wasn’t the damn wolf helping him out? They were going to get caught. He still remembered the hypnotic power that the naga had used earlier. With all that oxygen leaving his brain…
He hung there, the wolf and the naga chatting with each other - almost civilly - as his air supply dwindled further and further. Lorenus slithered around him, leaving him facing towards the island that they’d just left, and feeling his little twitches and struggles to breathe getting weaker and weaker….
SMACK!
Until the naga suddenly went flying. Carl flopped down into the water, passing below the surface for a moment until an oar hooked him by the back of his shirt. He coughed and gasped for air as he was pulled back up, and hung against the side of the canoe as his wolf companion sat back down.
“I was wondering how long that oar would take to come back.”
“Why didn’t - ugh…” He broke off in a coughing fit. “Why didn’t you...just smack him with the two you had??”
“He threw one of them away, and I figured you’d want it back. Just in case he started swimming up on us again. And I can’t paddle with just two.”
“Ugh...you’re...impossible.”
“In more ways than you know.”
He put the whole situation together as he dragged himself back into the boat. The paddle must have been passing by the boat when Studley grabbed it again. Not much to be said about that, though he wished that he hadn’t been strangled so much before it happened. Looking back the way that they’d come, he saw that the snake was completely out of sight. Studley must have hit him pretty darn hard, for that to be the case.
Carl didn’t feel particularly sorry for the naga, he had to admit.
He sat down with a wet flop, groaning under his breath as he looked towards their destination. The tall trees of Ngahare loomed past the narrow coastline, casting shadows on the lagoons and beaches around them. Here and there, Carl could just barely make out the sights of little cottages further inland, but then they’d move and it would seem like there had never been anything there but trees.
I hope the professor is having better luck than we are, he thought. Toby’s not the best at the whole running away thing. Then again, maybe he has some idea of what the heck is going on.
Studley paddled them up to the beach, and the wolf hopped out without a second thought. The leather shorts he was wearing, combined with the collar and the spiked gloves, made him look like some hunter that was used to this. For that matter, he probably was, if half of what he’d said so far was true. Gods, demi-gods, spirits, all sorts of magic, dimensional rifts, and...he’d lost track of the rest while they were running, but the wolf was either incredibly deluded or incredibly powerful.
Probably both, really.
After tying up the boat, Carl started rooting through his pockets, assessing the damage from the fall. His wallet was okay, though everything in it was soaked. Shouldn’t be that much of a problem, considering he wasn’t carrying much beyond a couple of credit cards and his ID. The other stuff, however…
The picture of his girlfriend back home was shot. No saving that, and it was already ripped to pieces. His room key had fallen out, too, and as for his cell phone…
He held the lump of plastic in hand, and shook his head in relief as it turned on.
“Looks like those waterproof commercials weren’t lying.”
With at least one piece of good news, he turned around, just in time to see Studley dangling from a tree...by his tail.
The human blinked, staring at the suspended wolf, trying to figure out how the hell that had happened. He took a step forward -
“Ah ah, stay back.”
The wolf’s shout stopped him in his tracks. Studley pointed upwards, and he slowly followed the wolf’s gesture until he saw it.
The vines in the tree were moving, and there wasn’t any wind. And now that he took a closer look, the wolf’s tail had a binding vine around the base of it, holding it still and leaving him suspended by it. He winced as he thought about how that would probably feel, to be dangling by an extension of one’s spine.
Worse, though, he realized that they’d be waiting to grab him, as well, if he stepped any closer. If it was some sort of trap, it was a good one.
“You got a knife or something, Carl?”
“Why would I have a knife?”
“Don’t they teach you kids to carry around pocket knives, anymore? I thought they were all the rage for you young’uns.”
“Yeah, that kinda got phased out for cell phones…”
“Oh, what use is that right now?”
He had a point. Carl shook his head, taking a few steps back and looking at the neighboring trees. If the vines extended all the way along the forest line…
Thankfully, it looked like they didn’t. Studley, in fact, seemed to have found the only tree in a good fifty foot line that actually had those things. He looked up at the wolf again, and blushed as he realized that the vines had extended further, starting to slide into the wolf’s pants leg.
“Anytime now, Carl, would be great.”
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Ideally, give me something to cut these things down so I don’t have to try something risky. And before they get much more personal would be juuuuuust perfect.”
“Well, what can I do?”
“Well - Oh, actually, that’s a pretty good idea. Can you hold still for ooooooone second? There’s something I picked up from a spirit fox that I’d like to try out.”
“Wha -”
“Hold still!”
There was a bright light that shot out from Studley’s hands. One moment, Carl was staring up at the wolf. The next -
“MMMPH!”
The next, he had a tail that was being yanked right out of his spine, there was a slick vine that was working its way up his ass, and he had a furry tube around his cock that was rapidly getting pulled back as the vines pulled off leather shorts that he really didn’t remember putting on.
Nor did he remember hanging from the tree.
Blushing and squirming around as the vines started molesting a body that was most definitely not his, Carl could only stare as he watched...well, himself, get up from the beach. He saw himself rooting through his pockets, throwing the cell phone, ruined picture, and even his wallet down on the beach before he could catch his breath.
“MMmph! Hey! Watch it - ah! - with my stuff!”
“Seriously, no knife? No pocket watch? Nothing? What the hell do you people carry with you these days?”
“It’s called a CELL PHONE!”
He wasn’t shouting from anger so much as he was shouting from the second vine that was working its way up his fuzzy butt at that very second. The feeling of two of them sliding in and out, stretching open a foreign pucker was something that he was NOT ready for. If it wasn’t for the fact that there was a slippery one rubbing around a cock that was slowly growing upwards and outwards - and looking impossibly bestial in size and shape - he wasn’t sure if he could have avoided shrieking.
As his body continued to fumble around for things and mutter to itself, Carl kicked out at the vines, trying to dislodge them. Every time he did, he felt the claws on the ends of his toes ripping through plant material, but every time that he came near to cutting through one set, another bundle of greenery dropped down, wrapping around his legs and paralyzing them further.
He was almost completely cocooned in vines, his cock sticking through the front and getting sucked by some sort of flower, when he heard his own voice calling back up to him.
“You have exactly seven cents in here. Why didn’t you tell me?!”
“Is...that...important?”
“YES! I can make this!”
His vision was fading a bit, but he could make out the way that his body started to glow, and that glow passed on to the seven pennies that were laid out on the sand. They suddenly flared red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and finally violet before settling up as some sort of energy blade. Seeing his body lift it looked like some combined action scene and some pride parade.
It got better when he was saved by his own body, leaping through the air and cutting through the vines like they were nothing. He came flying down, landing in the sand and sending up a dust cloud, before he rolled towards the water.
Studley - in his body - walked back out, the sword fading away to pennies again. Carl groaned, rubbing his fuzzy face.
“What...what’s going on?”
“Lots of things, really. Body switching, borrowing a sword from another me, that sort of thing.”
“...Can I have my body back? Please?”
“Can I use you to get past the blue balls later?”
“Ugh…”
“Heh, I’m kidding. Come here.”
Another flash of light, and Carl felt himself back in his own body. The lack of extra warmth from the fur and the sheer chill that came from being in soaked clothes was a trade-off that he was happy to make for not being in molesting vines anymore.
Studley, on the other hand…
“Mother fucker...those vines...geez, how far up did you let them get?”
“It’s not like I had a choice.”
“You could have clenched, at least. Sheesh. I’m going to be dribbling sap for the next three hours, from how far up they went.”
As the wolf walked over to the tree and kicked it, muttering something about ‘not being part of the Ivy League,’ Carl debated taking the boat and going. The idea of getting off this island was getting more appealing by the second, and the fact that it had taken two days to get here by boat was hardly a deterrent at this point.
The only thing keeping him here was the fact that Studley was keeping him alive, and he wasn’t going to chance getting killed by running off without help. Not yet, anyway.
After Studley finished berating the tree, he walked back over.
“You know, you could have kept the sword.”
“Maybe, but it was a cheap summons. The other me needed it more at the time. Heh. He’ll probably be throwing those pennies at my head later. If they even are still around. Value and all that, you know?”
“No, no, I don’t.”
“Right, right. You haven’t gotten to the whole interdimensional tech, here. We’ll talk that out later, if you like.”
“...I don’t think I will.”
“Heh, smart boy. Anyway, let’s keep walking. There’s gotta be somewhere safe on the island.”
This time, he let Studley lead the way. Considering the fact that the wolf could jump between bodies, summon rainbow laser swords from different dimensions, and was mad as all hell at the forest already, it seemed the better move. Something that came at them would have to deal with the crazy demi-god first, and he would put money on the demi-god.
Thankfully, it seemed that the island was a little more peaceful than Ngahau had been. The trees cut out some of the sea breeze, but some of it still came through with a soothing salt water scent. Some sun patches lit up the ground, but most of it was in shade, keeping him from feeling like he was burning up as they kept walking along. Here and there, he thought he saw animals running around, but nothing larger than a deer or a cluster of bunnies.
Maybe the curse hadn’t spread quite so far as he worried, if it was a curse to begin with.
They kept walking, passing by the different markers along the path after they read the first one and found out that it was just a mark to some sponsor or other. Nothing more than a name, David or something like that. No signs marked the path, and he was starting to see how this island could be marketed as an isolated getaway. How did one start searching for other people when they didn’t even know where they, themselves, were?
It was a small comfort to know that the monsters from the other islands probably weren’t tracking them at this point. Studley’s oar swing, combined the the fact that the island was so dense and dim, probably kept most of the trackers away. They had time to catch their breath, time to get their thoughts together.
Okay, let’s find a cabin. Just need to find an empty one, like the Professor said, he thought as they walked along. It seemed like it would be easier said than done, in all honesty. Though he had seen one from the coast, they all seemed to disappear after a few seconds of looking at them. What if they were shifting in and out of reality like the ghosts that Lorenus had been summoning as lovers?
“Studley?”
“Yeah?” the wolf said, not looking back.
“I...do you mind telling me why you’re here? I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t because you wanted a vacation.”
“Heh, you’re right about that much. I’m just getting off of a vacation here.”
“Hell of a way to do it…”
“Well, you try sitting around under an obelisk for five years, and you’d get pretty bored yourself.”
“...”
“Long story. Anyway. I’ve been hearing about this place for a while, but I haven’t been paying it that much attention. Always considered it something of a legend. But when I was flying by -”
“You can FLY?!”
“Sometimes. Depends on how lucky I get with the wings. Sometimes they’re this pathetic little pair that can’t do anything but look cute. And trust me, you don’t want me looking cute. Tends to come with weird mental things.” Studley shivered. “Anyway, I was flying over the island when I noticed that it was positively packed with magic.”
“...Magic’s real?”
“...For fuck’s sake. What do you think I just did?!”
“I was hoping something that the government came up with but hadn’t told anyone.”
“Sorry, son, but it’s magic, alright.”
“All sorts of new discoveries today…”
He ducked under a low-hanging branch, feeling the air getting damper and thicker. They must be getting further towards the center of the island, and he could see that the moss on the trees and branches were getting thicker, as well. The air was getting hot and thick, too.
His shoes squelched in ground that was getting increasingly muddier, and he rubbed at his forehead as he started to sweat, and gestured at Studley to continue.
“From the air, it’s pretty easy to feel it. This whole place is jammed full of magic energy. Some of it’s fresh, and some of it’s stored, harvested off of other people. All the islands are reeking of it, and if you have the right eyes for it - I don’t, at the moment, but if you do - you can see them all glowing. It’s like staring at a cluster of suns.”
“So, what’s that mean?”
“Lots of things. If it was any dimmer, I’d think that someone found magic again in this universe. As it is, I think some minor god’s woken up and it’s trying to come back.”
“A...seriously? Like, a real…”
“Probably something on the chaotic side, considering what’s going on. Usually don’t have this much regimentation and panic when it’s one of those fuddy-duddies on the lawful side.”
Carl shook his head. The more he talked with Studley, the more the world seemed to spin. Too many things were being stated as fact that sounded like fantasy for him to take it seriously. Gods, spirits, different universes, flying wolves, seeing magic -
He slumped over to the side, leaning against a tree as he held a hand against his head. It was throbbing hard, and he groaned.
What...this…
“Hey, Carl, are you okay? I know it’s a lot to take in -”
“Just...just stop...stop talking…”
He was sliding down the tree, he realized, his legs giving out beneath him. The events of the day already were catching up with him. Losing his virginity to a ghost, fucking a pinball machine, almost dying, at least halfway raped, his view of reality turned completely upside down…
His stomach rolled, and he held a hand over his face, trying not to puke as he slumped to his knees.
“Oh...oh, that’s how it’s going. Right.”
Feeling the wolf’s fuzzy arms around his shoulders, Carl tried to pull away, but the wolf just helped him to his feet. It got a little better with an arm around his shoulder, but the world continued to spin around him, and he could barely put one foot in front of the other.
Vaguely recognizing it as some sort of state of shock, the human let himself be led along by the wolf.
Eventually, they found their way to a cabin, though it wasn’t unoccupied. Carl wasn’t sure what happened. He remembered being led in through the front door, finding two other people on the couch going at it. Studley had led him by, neither of the occupants saying anything, and he’d been laid on the bed without another word.
Sleeping…
Getting up to be sick…
Sleeping again…
When he opened his eyes again, Studley was back, though with something wet smeared over his face. Carl pointed to it, slowly.
“What…”
“Oh, didn’t feel like wiping up earlier. Let me just tell you, though, that lady was a screamer.”
“Lady?”
“Not important. Just the two people that were here before us.”
“Are they okay?”
“Hmmmm, they’ll be okay when they’re done running through the woods and howling their heads off.”
“Howling...Did you hurt -”
“Hell, no. I’m not Lupe in Dark Bizarro-world.”
“...Who and what?”
“Nevermind. They’re fine. They’re just...fuzzier than they used to be.”
“...I’m not...I think…”
“Here.”
After he was done being sick again, Carl slowly pulled himself upright, shaking his head as he did. He reached into his pants and pulled out his cell phone, seeing if there was any reception. Miraculously, there was.
Here’s hoping that he can still track the GPS on this thing, he thought, texting his professor and letting the coyote know that they’d found a shed. He left the ‘they’ part as unspecific as possible. Partly because he didn’t want to start talking about the whole ‘real mythology’ thing with Toby at the moment, and partly because he didn’t want to think about it if he could avoid it.
He slowly got off of the bed. Ignoring the way that Studley had gone to licking his face clean and talking about how that would be one ‘fine bitch’, Carl walked over to the window and peered into the forest. Several broken trees rested where he imagined Studley had done...things...with the people in the house, and he tried to look past that.
There wasn’t much to see in the forest, he was surprised to note. Lots of trees, lots of plants, even a deer or centaur or two, but not -
Wait…
Carl blinked as he turned back towards the centaur that had stepped out from behind a tree. Not only was that impossible, but he swore that the mythological beast was giving him a flirtatious look. Winking, and...and smiling, blowing a kiss…
And then turning, showing off that horse ass. Wide, thick rump with a twitching pucker under the tail. He immediately thought back to the hippo from before, and he blushed as his cock started throbbing up in the front of his pants. Even from here, he could see that he would barely be able to wrap his arms around a rump that big, and he imagined how it would feel, hugging the back end of that guy as he started sliding...sliding in…
His cock throbbed even harder as the centaur was joined by another, and another. Each one was just as big and thick in the back as the first, and his cock throbbed as he saw that there were some females in the ranks as well. Shivering and panting, his cock pulsing at full size, he looked from one ass to another, feeling the temptation grow.
It’s impossible...it’s impossible, he thought, just like when he saw the ghost hippo from before. But unlike then, he’d seen so many impossible things try and catch him, try and grab him, try and rut with him since then. Seeing this, now, seeing the offer that he was getting…
One of them, a female, looked over her shoulders at him and giggled.
“Come on out, Carl...join us…”
The sound of her voice, the way that she shook her hindquarters at him, almost had the human leaping out of the window. The only thing holding him back was his fingers on the windowsill, digging in hard.
They started backing up towards him, their asses coming closer, and closer. One of the males held up a vial, letting him see it before tossing it back. He watched, staring as the centaur’s cock popped free of its sheath, and then started rising up, rising to its full equine shape. It continued growing even after hitting full erection, getting bigger, thicker, harder, more powerfully masculine…
And then the other males all held up one, as if offering it to him. To take it, to have a cock like them, to have a big, hard horse-cock that would be able to fill even the biggest of asses properly.
His dick throbbed at the idea, and he slowly started reaching out -
“What are you looking at, by the way?”
Studley joining him at the window shifted things around, and suddenly, the herd of big-assed centaurs changed. One half transformed, going from horse-people to a pack of werewolves, all the females sporting soaked fur and drenched sexes, while the males were whimpering softly in submission and offering collars.
The change was enough to snap him out of it, and he grabbed hold of the window up above and slammed it down. The frame almost cracked from how hard he brought it down, but it shocked the things outside and left them running away.
Carl panted as he stumbled away from the window, almost falling over himself when he reached the couch. He shook as he pointed out the window at where they’d been.
“What...what was…”
“That? Probably a bunch of people that were trapped here before, or some sort of illusion that would have felt absolutely real. Whoever’s running this place is very good. I can’t even see the puppet strings for these things.”
“Would...what would have happened to me?”
“Best guess? Oh, you’d probably be locked in their embrace for a few weeks until whoever was directing it let you go. Hungry as hell, tired, exhausted, and possibly in need of a few skin grafts, but certainly alive. Whether you’d be sane...well, that depends on the guy on the other end. These things draw a lot of consequences from what’s running them.”
Carl slowly nodded. That...that made some sense, he supposed. The fact that it had been so effective, though…
That pinball machine didn’t do anything to me, but the hippo, and now those… His cock was still rock hard, just thinking about it. And the idea of getting something to dominate them, something that would let him please them all and leave them wanting to come back for more, to be his and crave him…
His fingers curled into the couch as he tried to think of something else, tried to drive the fantasies from his mind. Desperate for a distraction, he looked up at the wolf.
“Do you...do you have any idea of where this thing is? The guy running it?”
“Again, best guess, but I’d say that mountain island.”
“Maunga.”
“Yeah, I think that’s what one of them called it.”
It would be that one. The brochures described it as an ultimate test for mountain climbers, something that would only be attempted with many waivers of liability, and a team of medics standing by. The path to the top of the mountain was said to be very dangerous, though the view could be gotten from helicopters, according to other brochures.
Though where we’ll get a helicopter, now…
The professor had talked about the mountainous island, as well, though he’d been tuning him out when the coyote had been getting into the details. Something about there being similar legends of a great volcano god for the island as on other island cultures, but there’d been more...he thought…
Shaking his head, he gave up. He’d just have to get Toby to talk about it when the professor arrived.
Studley sat down beside him, the big wolf rubbing his back gently. It wasn’t much, but it helped. Carl took a deep breath in, and then a deep breath out. The latter left him gagging a bit, covering his mouth.
“Studley?”
“Yeah?”
“Could you get me a glass of water?”
“Heh, no problem. Then you can help me with those blue balls from earlier.”
“Tha - wait, what?!”
“Kidding, kidding! That couple helped me with it already, anyway.”
He stared at the departing wolf as his companion walked over to the kitchen, slowly shaking his head. The taste of vomit lingering in his mouth, Carl tried to lay down on the couch and get comfortable. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do when the cushions were covered in sap - Studley was still dripping, true to his word - but it was more comfortable than sitting up at that point.
He was just wiggling into place when a thud made the room shake. Starting to sit up, he felt it again...and again…
“Studley...please tell me that’s you doing something?”
“I’d like to, but that’s not me.”
“Then what -”
Out the window, he saw the trees suddenly bend, a whole line of them suddenly arching backwards as if shoved by some force. The gusting wind that went over their branches told what the force was, but where had it come from?
He ran to the window, staring out of it, his eyes flicking every which way. What the hell could be doing that? How could anything be strong enough to change the forest like...that…
That...that…
The word ‘impossible’ tried to come to mind, but after so many things, this seemed almost logical. A shadow passed over the ground, and in its claws were the shadows of two werewolves, still rutting with one another as they were carried away by a massive winged beast, its blue scales sparkling in the sunlight as it flew above the treeline.
Studley joined him at the window, watching as the dragon flew away from the cottage, carrying the beasts with it. Carl pointed at it, stuttering.
“D-d-dragon…”
“Darn right, and a thieving one at that. Those were my bitches!”
The sheer ridiculousness of the situation, the biggest shock of the day, and the lack of any seriousness around was just too much. Carl flopped over in a faint, and hit the ground, hard.
