this is one of the last chapters in Dachii's adventure and it turns out there are many ways this can go, so now it's the readers turn to determine Dachii's fate read to find out what you need to do.
here is chapter 18 finally i know it still took me a while but it's still a bit tough getting close to the end, there is no yiff in this one but there will most likely be something in the future, hopefully you'll like this chapter so please Enjoy
Chapter 18
I want to know my fate...(readers opt)
"Who are you?" I asked again.
The figure shook its head before walking closer into the light.
"I told you, I'm a friend Dachii"
All I could see was another human but his voice began to sound familiar but he seemed to be wearing what looked like a uniform.
"How do you know my name?" I questioned.
Then I felt something like a quick and slightly painful pulse in my head.
"I know a lot about you...and I know also you are looking for Tye"
"You're another one, just like Jay" I said rubbing my head.
"Jay? ... Sounds familiar..." he paused for a moment "Dachii...would you like to go see Tye now?"
"Yes!" I answered immediately.
Then Ray spoke up
"Are you sure we can trust this guy?"
I looked at him "if no one else we might as well"
"Well how about this, you both spend the night on my boat and in the morning we go to the island" he then turned and began heading down the alley and we followed.
Ray seemed a little scared still so I thought I should ease him.
I put my claw on his back "it's ok Ray...if anything happens I'll protect you"
He looked at me and I made a face as to reassure him, it seems to have worked but he held my arm most of the way until we reached the boat.
A few thoughts occurred to me along the way, his voice sounded familiar ...where have I heard it before?
"Alright boys welcome to my vessel" a ramp came down from the boat landing on the docks "now come on, you both look very tired" he said walking onto the boat.
It seemed a little shady being invited onto a boat by someone you don't know but right now this is what we're doing so we are going for it.
Me and Ray made our way onto the boat surprised at how big it looked on the inside.
The man led us to a door and opened it showing us a room with two small beds.
"You two don't mind sharing a room right?" he chuckled a little; I assumed he knew everything about me and Ray by now.
I was about to answer the man when Ray just came up and spoke.
"Wait! Wait! Wait! Hold on guy, why are you doing all this? We don't even know who you are"
He turned to look at Ray, suddenly I thought Ray's little outburst wasn't so smart.
"I'm the captain of this boat that's all you need to know"
That's when it hit me, I knew who this guy was, he's "the captain" the only person that had any real transport between the island and the city.
No wonder his voice sounded so familiar, he used to call the house all the time...how did I not catch that?
"So that's who you are" I blurted out getting a stupid look from Ray and a smile from the captain "that's how you know Tye, but why are you helping us?"
"That's kind of a long story..." he answered.
"We have time, do you think you could enlighten us?"
"alright then lets head to my quarters, I'd rather explain while sitting" he lead us to another room that seemed to be well furnished looking almost like you weren't on a boat at all, the only way you could tell was by looking out the large window showing the open water.
He told us to take a seat, Ray sat on one of the chairs and I sat on the floor not wanting to accidentally break anything.
Then the captain himself took a seat in a large comfortable looking chair and began to explain.
"Well lets see where should I start..." he paused to think "I sensed something a little while ago from the island, then that very night I had picked up a thought from someone but it turned out to be more than just that it was a dream and from the looks of it, it was a call for help" he turned his focus towards me.
"I'm pretty sure it was Tye, I remember hearing he was grieving over the loss of his child, his mind was dark and clouded but vulnerable, so I decided I'd try to help, so every night I kept going back close to the island trying to give him positive dreams to keep him content while I could, those thoughts seemed to soothe him for a while but then a short time ago he has been getting a recurring dream...and it was always about you" he pointed at me "I couldn't say they were particularly bad dreams and they seem to keep him content... but when he woke up in the morning he seemed to cry and when I tried to manipulate those dreams his mind was always so resistant and it remained in a constant cycle"
He took a deep breath
"I figured the only way I could help him now was to find the one in his dreams, and I knew you had to be somewhere since he had many memories of you...many I found quite touching actually...what I've been doing for the last few days is scouting the city, I picked up a few mental tracks of you but they seemed odd, even now most of your thoughts and memories aren't completely yours"
He was right I had been in the city for a few days now and my memories are implanted so it makes perfect sense, but why was he helping Tye? I had never known him to be close to anyone but me and his mates.
"Can you believe this guy?" Ray stood up "he's completely out of his mind!" he yelled, it seems Ray didn't fully understand, he started heading for the door but I stopped him.
"Ray he's telling the truth" I grabbed him and pulled him a little closer to me "Ray he's just trying to help"
He looked at me and then looked at the captain, he sighed.
"Alright...sorry...but all of that just doesn't sound believable"
"It shouldn't to you, that's why we hide it but you're with Dachii here so I'm going to have to trust you"
"Why do you trust me? What makes me being here with Dachii ok?" Ray asked.
"Because, I know you have no other place to go"
Ray completely paused then looked at the ground, he seemed to be getting upset since he clenched his fist but then shook it off and escaped my grip.
"if you knew that ... then you know how much it hurts" he ran out of the room.
I stood up and quickly followed him, I called out to him trying to stop him, I didn't want him to hurt himself.
Then I saw him stop at the edge of the boat, the ramp had come up with only the railing preventing him from falling over, I walked up and noticed we had drifted a little away from the docks.
I stopped behind him and put my head next to his.
"Ray...I'm sure he didn't anything by that"
He turned to look at me, I could see a few tears streaming down his face, he leaned his head on my body and started crying softly.
"Dachii this is starting to get to hard to handle...I thought I could accept being alone, but hearing other people say it just makes it harder..."
I heard both of his hands grip the railing as he looked back at the water.
"I feel it's time I left...you have someone to bring you back to your friend..." he slid his body over the railing and stood at the edge of the boat.
I grabbed his arm "what are you doing?" I asked, I wasn't just going to let him get hurt.
"Dachii, I'm going to show a little courage..." he looked at me in the eyes "I'm going back...to confront my grandfather, maybe I can change him and maybe things could go back to the way they were"
"But he'll hurt you again" I tried to convince him not to go
"That doesn't matter... if I was doomed to that fate then it will happen, all I can do now is try to make my own future...I'm just happy I had the chance to meet someone like you" he used his hand to rub one side of my muzzle.
"It looks like it's goodbye for now...Dachii" he pushed his head forward kissing me right on the muzzle, it still felt strange but I guess he needed it...his struggles ahead are probably going to be tough.
He pulled away, looked at me and smiled, then he turned and dove into the water below.
I looked over thee railing and saw him resurface; he swam the slight distance to the docks and climbed up.
He reached the top in his wet clothing and started waving at me, I smiled.
I was glad he was alright...though I felt I really didn't want him to go.
"Goodbye...Ray..." I whispered to myself wishing him the best of luck.
I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"It's alright Dachii I'm sure he'll be fine" said the captain's voice calmly speaking to me.
I turned to look at him "you're the one who made him leave!" I yelled, I don't why but I was upset.
"Calm down Dachii...I said what I had to say...right now it's just you and Tye" he walked back into the area with the rooms.
I looked back at the city, Ray was heading away back to his fallen relative...I hope things work out...
Then I headed back to the room the captain had offered me to sleep in, I lay down on one of the mattresses trying to relax.
I kind of felt lonely...I actually liked having someone with me, I never thought I'd feel like something was missing again...
I lay on my side and pulled my tail up to hold onto it, it filled the small gap but I don't think it could make my fully content.
My body was tired but I couldn't make myself sleep my mind just kept thinking...
What if Tye doesn't accept me?
What if Ray gets hurt?
What happened to everyone...do they still care about me?
Can I really keep my promises...to my friend...to my wolf...and myself...?
Then I felt a hand rubbing the top of my head.
I looked up to see the captain sitting by the bed, I gazed at his eyes they were almost hypnotic they were still and yet seemed to grasp your mind so you couldn't look away and then felt something strange inside my head.
"Dachii you need rest...what ever pain you're going through will be better soon" that was the last thing I heard before everything went dark and I had fallen unconscious.
I felt like I was floating... no ... I felt like I was falling.
In the depths of my mind I really couldn't make myself move and stop myself... what was going on?
I just want this to stop, I still feel confused, how can my pain end if I can't make up my mind? What's going to happen to me?
I felt myself stop abruptly but yet again I was surrounded by darkness.
I tried to move and I pulled myself upright, taking a look around all I saw was nothing.
The surrounding darkness made me feel almost claustrophobic and being alone didn't help.
"Feeling lonely already?" I heard a voice behind me.
I swung around to see who was there but I saw no one.
"I bet you want him back don't you?" where was this voice coming from?
"Who's there? Where are you?" I called out
I heard a bit of laughter and then I looked up.
Someone was standing upside down right above my head, they flipped and landed right in front of me, I took a step back.
It was another dragon, it was slightly smaller than me I was about a head size taller, but he still looked very intimidating for some reason.
His green and silver scales seemed to shimmer even in the darkness of this place.
"Who are you?" I asked still gawking at the other dragon.
It smirked and waved its hand making little sparks of light randomly float around making a pattern that I didn't understand.
"I'm the guy holding the strings, as you so put it" he said but then he did something unexpected, he hugged me "I'm glad I had the chance to meet you" he then quickly pulled away "now on to business, I have a little proposition for you Dachii...though you don't have much of a choice"
I didn't say anything, what was this dragon and what was he talking about? Where was my wolf?
He scratched the back of his head.
"Still a little thrown off huh? ... well I'll just tell you anyways and we'll see what you think"
He took a deep breath and sighed as if he didn't want to do this.
"Dachii the world's out of balance so in order to change this, your life needs to be adjusted"
What did he mean?
"Dachii you need to make a choice...do you want your wolf back? Or do you want to live mortally with Tye?"
I was taken aback by what he said...now I know what my wolf was talking about.
"Why are you asking me to do that? What's wrong with me living with Tye and being with my wolf?" I asked getting slightly agitated this was a big issue that just seemed to hard.
He sighed and started pacing.
"To be blunt Dachii, you were never meant to exist and you know it, people are messing up what life is supposed to be...and if I don't fix it then the world is fucked..."
He stopped pacing in front of me and got really close.
"I hate to do this to one of my own, especially one so cute" he touched the side of my muzzle "but it's just something I have to do, so I'll give you a little time...think about it ok big guy" he patted my back and then vanished.
I tried to grab him but he faded before I could.
I growled loudly "why?" and I stomped my feet on the ground.
Can't anything work out for me?
I held my head; I didn't know things could be so hard.
Then a slight soothing breeze blew against my back.
"I'm sorry Dachii" I felt a hand grab my arm, I knew it was the captain but why didn't he appear earlier? I knew he could enter dreams but it still was a little strange having him here.
"It's a lot worse than I thought...so Dachii I'll let you make the decision and I'll support you the whole way" he gave me a quick hug "I'm just sorry I can't help you much more than this" and then he just left, I guess he had to attend to the boat.
I just sat there thinking and feeling lonely...
I need to know...what do I do from here?
This is the one time I need a real answer...I wish I knew who to turn to.
I really just wish I could know my fate...
