The empty bottle of whisky shattered brilliantly as it hit the overgrown, cobblestone clad pavement. The sound lingered for a moment as if to defy the eerie, almost serene silence of another lonely night.
If only for a single second.
With the full moon standing watch, it's ominous light descended softly upon the abandoned marking district, sparsely illuminating the old main-avenue like a dying sun.
It was thanks to its presence that the just barely working gaslights in front of me had started to look more and more like lousy imitations of the orb above. Floating balls of glass and light, shamelessly enhancing the sparse lunar luminescence with pure human ingenuity…
As if to make a feeble statement against nature itself.
Still, it was thanks to their slowly decaying flickerings that my sluggish moving body was presented with a route it could follow with ease. The inability of choosing another path always made me feel like some sort of aged automaton.
Their lights had grown dim over the last years. A mere echo of twilight had covertly replaced the once eye-blinding brilliance.
Taking a look into the distance, I noticed that the darkness of the night transformed their ominous, half-lit presence into a rather bizarre looking spectacle. Starting near the point where their dented metal poles slowly started to blur into the empty night, the weak glowing orbs looked like they had formed a mesmerising row of seemingly levitating, almost ghostly balls of flickering light.
A soulless army lining up in front of moonlit eternity, silently begging for salvation that would never befall them.
Little was left of my world... or perhaps even of the whole world itself.
In the end, it all boiled down to a bundle of empty obligations and stagnating principles. The exposed core of any society solemnly build to pursue aimless advancement. It was only fair that I used what was left of it to push my lonely self onward. Following an empty road leading to nowhere.
Not that there was any other direction left for me to choose from...
My old, roughed up coat did little to keep the coldness from biting at my scarred skin. And even though the freezing bitterness and solitude had long since become a well accepted feeling, I knew that I should start looking for a replacement soon.
Still... a good part of me didn't want to part ways with that trusty coat, as replacing it with something new would feel like stripping off a part of me as well.
Once you start travelling alone, every piece of fabric which valiantly protects your skin slowly starts to gain a soul on its own. Or, at least I always felt that way. Therefore, letting go of such a well trusted companion can be especially hard, even if you know that it was just dead piece of clothing.
Of course, one could always fix what has been broken, but given the fact that I hadn't managed to spot a single human being for the last days, perhaps even weeks since I have started to cross that corpse of an once sprawling metropolis, the sheer thought of suddenly meeting an able tailor amidst the ruins of my decaying world forced my usual stoic face into performing a mild chuckle.
However, the moment of sudden serenity ended as unforeseen as it began. Without creating a sound, someone... or rather something had suddenly decided to appear on my lonesome road. The bolt of fear its sheer strangeness induced was enough to wake my whisky warmed body from a state of utter apathy into one of enforced wariness.
Standing in the middle of the dented road, the feral's fierce red eyes studied my broken form attentively, Its uninvited presence boldly blocking the only path which I still had left.
A struggle of instinct and foolishness quickly kick-started my numb mind as well. Gulping, I noticed that the feral creature in the distance possessed a sharp looking body, its firm stance on top a small mountain of rubble oozing the dark aura of an indomitable predator. And even though it's large, almost raven black claws and crescent-shaped horn already filled me with more fear than I could handle, the simple, albeit elegant act of her tongue softly salivating those sharp looking fangs with creeping slowlyness nearly made me soil myself.
This was it, I thought. Final station, end of the line.
Taking a large step forward, the Absol's muzzle bore a feral grin. It almost looked as if she had expected my actions. Perhaps she had even waited for me to make my move? Somehow, the sheer presence of hers seemed to darken everything around her, creating a stark contrast against the Pokemon's white-furred hide. Thanks to the low hanging moon, a now overly long shadow accompanied her ominous presence, even urging me to flinch as it came close my boots. For a moment, I wholeheartedly thought that something vile and otherworldly could emerge from the impossible dark surface on any second.
In silence, I answered the beast's slow advance with careful retreat. Or rather, I tried to. The creatures legs looked strong, musclebound even. My predator looked fast enough to cover the space between us in less than a few seconds.
I exhaled sharply on each time I saw a claw adored paw descending onto the overgrown cobblestone pavement, never knowing if next step would turn into a sudden pounce. The innocently glowing, moonlight kissed pelt did little to hide the Absol's true intentions.
Not that she had any reason to do so.
Over time, the distance separating us started to decline. Which each carefully placed step I made, my self-declared nemesis took precisely two steps forward.
Never more, neither less.
I wondered for how long the female wanted to toy with her already defenceless prey.
The situation grew direr with every single inch she gained on me. Time started to stretch. Seconds soon began to feel like dreadfully long hours. Given that my well-armed enemy decided to to take its sweet time, my initial shock slowly declined, leading to a sense of mild acceptance.
We both knew that she could subdue me however she wanted. There was just no sense in denying the inevitable.
Taking a long, perhaps even final breath…
I transformed my retreat into a foolish advance!
Deciding to step forward instead of back, I boldly faced the creature which had so dastardly dared to block my path!
As if sensing my sudden lack of reluctance, the now slightly snarling feral looked like she had finally grown bored of her own little game. With a deep sounding growl, the beast pounced on me with a single leap. But even though I was frozen with fear, a part of me couldn't help but to admire her agile form.
Clockwork complexity embossing feral grace.
Neither resisting or yelping in pain; our bodies came down hard on the mossy ground. I could feel Sharp claws penetrating my old coat with ease. It looked like the beast was not even granting me a moment to recoil, before assaulting my body even further! But I knew that telling her to stop would have been a pointless endeavour. The metallic taste which quickly filled my mouth bore a slight heritage of the bourbon which I had consumed so greedily just minutes ago. The mild smoky taste made me ponder if the canine Pokémon residing atop of me would be able to get drunk by drinking my blood…
Presenting my throat, I hoped she would at least end me as quick and sudden as she had appeared in my life.
Yet, her killing bite never came.
Opening my eyes with all the courage I had left, a shriek nearly escaped my blood sprinkled lips!
Merely an inch apart, our noses nearly touched one another. Heck, even my nostrils could pick on that feral scent of hers!
Nearly motionless, she returned my gaze with a silent snarl. Exposed fangs, ready to devour its grounded catch.
But I noticed that there was also something else, Something even stronger than the desire of bloodshed.
Well hidden behind her facade of strength and ruthlessness, obstructed by shimmering red pupils of predatory beauty, there was an abyss lingering inside of her… An emptiness I couldn't really describe using words alone. To me it felt as if there was some kind of yearning inside of her. One that kept her from ending me, creating a force addicting enough to lure her in even further. A vortex of raw emotions which collapsed into an chaotic maelstrom of hate and want.
Love.
Too late, I realised that she wasn't the only one who had become entangled in its grasp. Not any less conflicted by shame and lust, I decided to break our stalemate by boldly pressing my lips against hers.
She did not object.
My tongue lashed out, pushing past the dangerously sharp borders made up of canine fangs. But it managed to make only little ground until she snatched it away, forcing it to dance and intermingle with her own. Pressing against my brave intrusion, I found my head soon fully pressed into the mossy ground as she pushed herself against me with a good part of her strength. Her paws continuously scratched against my flimsy clothes as well. It felt like the Absol was trying to embrace and maul me at the same time. Her movements grew more desperate by the second, which in turn resulting in more ripped fabric and fresh gashes on my exposed skin. But at some point, her efforts started to diminish. Perhaps she realized that forcing herself onto her object of desire in such a way wasn't going to work. Toes curling in frustration, angry snarls slowly started to turn into delightfully soft sounding, almost whimsical purrs. And after a while, the once proud predator soon began to look more and more like a disgraced kitten. Her facade had finally broken, revealing a lonely female who was simply starving for affection and need. Her fangs softly bit into my lips, drawing more blood has her body relentlessly pressed mine into the ground. The pain was bearable. A part of me even found solace in it.
Had I always been this selfish?
My hands started to comb her pelt, granting her more and more of the affection which she sought so valiantly. A sudden grunt escaped my violated lips as her claws pushed deep into my skin. It felt as if she trying to remind me of my place.
It was not very effective.
The Absol soon started to hump demandingly against my body, signalling its willingness to be taken by one who shouldn't have the right to do so. Urged by her antics, my hands grasped and groped the parts she practically begged me to molest, answering my depraved touches with even more mewls and more of those delightful sounding whimpering purrs.
I thought I could drag on for a while, but suddenly, a savage glare popped up in her eyes.
And at that point I knew that I had been far too soft on her.
Pressing her panting body hard against mine, two of my fingers effortlessly invaded the soft spot between her legs, making her mewl out in desperation and want while her exposed opening filled the night with the lustrous scent of a female. A predator who was about to be satisfied by her supposed prey.
A part of me wondered If that whole act brought her utter fulfilment or degrading humiliation.
But that was something I would never know. After all, the world from which she hailed from was vastly different from mine.
Chaotic.
Strange.
Alien.
I already knew that no matter how I would try, I could never truly come to understand her motives.
With a slight moan, I pressed my blood soaked lips into hers again, savouring her closeness while pleasuring my newfound owner until she climaxed hard on me. I followed suit soon afterwards.
Simply by meeting her, journey had come to an end. A chance encounter if there ever was one. Deep down I knew that even if my new mistress would be benevolent enough to let me survive her bedding, I would never be able to travel that old, well-known road of mine.
The world I know was already dead. The remains merely an empty husk of its former glory. If sacrificing myself to her would keep that alien world of hers stay alight for a little while longer, Who was I to object?
For the rest of what felt like the longest night of my life, our grunts, groans and screams filled the silent skyline with life again!
I took her with the same affection as she took me... Maybe even harder. But neither the bright moon, nor the crumbling buildings looming above our heads judged our deplorable acts.
In the end, I had the lingering feeling that I took more from her than I could have ever given her back in return.
My aching body left the ground as the first rays of sunlight harassed my eyelids. The crumbling district behind me remaining silent.
No shining gaslights either. I wondered if I would ever see their ghostly display again.
Broken shards of glass stoically decorating the uneven pavement around me. Glistening in the morning sun, their edges looking delightfully sharp.
I felt... strangely at ease with myself.
Just when I was about to grab for the largest, sharpest looking one, a commanding sounding growl quickly made me spin my head around.
There, on a hill of broken concrete and shattered dreams, I saw her again. Her white furred body was waiting patiently in front of an overgrown alley. Now exposed in the sunlight, I saw that her thick coat looked just as ragged as mine. Perhaps even more so. Still, her eyes radiated fiery determination. Honestly, I couldn't even remember the last time I had seen such an enthralling expression on someone else.
Following her invitation would inevitably mean to leave my own world behind. Maybe I wouldn't be able to see it ever again.
But having no reason to stay is perhaps the best reason to go.
Taking the first step without hesitation, I answered her coy smile with a nod of bravery, silently admiring the strong Absol who prefers the beaten path over a well-paved road.
