With that said let's start this story.

Hi I'm Jace Shadows and this is my story.

It all started on my sixteenth birthday. I woke up that morning and finally decided that like a few of my friends I would start out on my own pokemon journey. I got up and got dressed then headed downstairs without checking to see what time it was. My mom was in the kitchen cooking breakfast and she glanced at me when I ran downstairs. I smiled at her and she asked "So, what did you decide you want to make as your career?" I shrugged and sat down at the table my mind already planning out what was going to happen for the rest of my day. I slowly pulled myself out fo my thoughts as my mom set a plate of pancakes infront of me and said "You sure you don't know what you want to do when you leave town today?"

I sighed and said "I think I'm going to drop by the old professor's lab and see what pokemon he can give me for a journey. I'll start out as a trainer, but if something else catches my interest I'll change jobs. Does that work for you?" She nodded and I wondered if she was thinking about my dad. Before I was born he'd supposedly left on a quest to become the greatest pokemon master. He'd been on his pokemon journey when he met mom, and had settled down for a time. He'd moved to the dirt bag town we were living in because he thought it'd be a nice place to settle down, but shortly before I was born he was struck with wander lust and left. Everyone expected me to follow in his footsteps when I turned ten, but instead I stuck around and helped mom and the doc out. The doc as I called him was actually Professor Rober Taylor, or just proffessor Taylor to his students and the world at large. He was a top pokemon researcher and breeder. He and my dad were old friends supposedly so he felt it was only right to give me a job at his lab. Mom was really proud when she found out, and that's when I actuallly became interested in pokemon.

I started eating at a rapid rate figuring if I got to the doc's fast enough he'd tell me what pokemon I could take on this journey. I figured he'd be somewhat happy, yet somewhat sad to see me go since just about ever pokemon at his place liked me. I knew that a lot of the younger tech's would be glad to see the back of me since they were all worried I'd take the position as Doc's apprentice. Mom glanced at me and asked "Do you want me to set up some gear for when you get home with your pokemon?" I nodded then finished eating and headed up stairs to grab a hat and pair of sunglasses. I checked to make sure I had everything I'd need to see the doc, since until I got my stuff from him there was no point in me getting ready to leave town. When I was sure I had what I needed I headed back downstairs and ran out the door.Doc's lab was about three miles away from the house and I could get there in an hour if I walked, so I started jogging figuring that it'd cut my time in half.

I glanced at my watch and silently cursed myself as I ran. It was almost 11 and the lab would be opening in twenty minutes. I started to speed up and pull my hat lower down on my head as I got closer to Doc's. After about five minutes I ran up to the gates and flashed my pass to the guard. He nodded to me as the doors opened then I rushed inside hoping to get to Doc before any new trainers arrived. Being in the Kanto region meant that I'd probably end up with a charmander, bulbusaur, or squirtle depending on what Doc thought would suit me. I slowled down and walked to the Doc's lab, only stopping a long the way to mess with a few of the pokemon who wanted my attention. Doc looked up as I entered and said "Good morning Jace,what brings you in so early, normally you aren't here until noon." I smiled slightly and dug in my bag then tossed out one of my mom's copies of my old man's trainer card. Doc looked at it and said "So you're finally following in your father's footsteps?"

I nodded slowly and said "May as well Doc. I can't be your assistant forever, and I figured I'd best get here before the younger trainers got all of your pokemon." Doc laughed slightly then walked over to a computer and started typing into it. I sat down and waited letting my mind go over the different challenges trainers faced. I sighed and muttered "Well I guess it's better to go out with all the knowledge I have of pokemon, than to have left like most trainers with nothing but a pokedex, that has to be upgraded." Doc turned around and handed me the latest model pokedex and I blinked. He smiled and I said "Isn't this the new prototype you didn't want any trainers to touch." He nodded and I asked "Why are you giving it to me?"

He smiled slightly and said "Because you're wise enough to know when you need it, and I promised your father I'd send you out with the best equipment I could if you ever asked for my help to start on your own journey. Speaking of which I forgot to pay you for all your hard work." I started to protest then sighed when he put a card full of credits into my hand and pocketed it. He studied me and said "So are you ready to begin?" I nodded and the two of us walked into the trainer's area. I studied the room thinking of all the times I'd cleaned it and helped new trainers work with their pokemon, and how strange it was to be leaving after six years. I grinned to myself thinking "Well at least I have some experience over all those young kids who come in here expecting to leave without knwoing anything about their pokemon. If I wanted to I could get a degree, but what's the point? I don't even know if I want to be a researcher really." I shook my head and listened as Doc said "You're lucky enough that you go here before the morning rush. I have every single rookie pokemon in, and your pokedex has the breeding grounds of all the rookie trainer pokemon. So which one do you think would fit you best?"

I closed my eyes thinking about it, then said softly "I think I'll go with charmander. I've always gotten along with fire types really well and it seems easy for them to bond with me." He nodded and handed me one of the pokeballs. I threw it and a charmander popped out. It glanced at Doc then ran over to me and rubbed up against my leg. I looked at him and said "I guess I made a good choice, right Doc?" He nodded and I returned my charmander to his ball just as the doc's niece walked in. Doc and I glanced at her and she smiled at us. Well, she smiled at Doc. She just glared at me and walked over to the table. Doc glanced at me and I said "So I'm guessing I'm not the only one who you expected to show up early?" He shook his head and I leaned on the table as he explained about the pokemon to his niece. I slowly tossed my pokeball into the air wondering what Doc and his thought his niece should know that she hadn't learned after studying with him for seven years. I sighed and said "Doc don't you think Lena knows just about as much as me, if not more?" He nodded and Lena looked at me slightly surprised I spoke out for her then glanced back at Doc.

He smiled at the two of us and said "Lena I think you should try this pokeball, if you don't like it then the other one is all yours." She nodded and threw down the pokeball releasing a squirtle. She yelled and hugged Gramps as the thing eyed me with a mischievious smirk. I dived down behind the table as it started shooting waterguns at where I'd just been. Lena returned it to it's pokeball and Doc said "Well it appears that your squirtell feels the same way about Jake as you." I looked up from behind the table and glared at Lena. She stuck her toung out at me and Doc hander her her pokedex. I stood up and Doc said " Well, with everything done here, you two can start on your journies." I hugged Doc in thanks and he smiled then Lena did the same thing. He looked at us and said "Good luck you two, I advise you sign up for the pokemon league the moment you get to a city." We nodded and headed outside then went our seperate ways. She started for her house which was a few minutes away and I started for my place tossing my pokeball in the air. I was thinking what a strange day it was turning out to be, and it hadn't even really begun just yet.

After a few minutes I stopped and called out my charmander it looked at me and I said "Want to walk with me little one?" It nodded and the two of us continued on our way home. My charmander looked at me and I said "Do you have your own name little one?" It nodded and we stopped as it started scratching in the dirt. I studied the symbols and markings then asked "Are you telling me your name's flame?" It nodded and I smiled then said "Well Flame, welcome to the family. Hope you enjoy your stay." It smiled at me and we started walking again. I sighed wishing that the Doc had been more thorough on how to tell a pokemon's gender then remembered something he said about teaching some pokemon to speak english by talking to them. I grinned slightly and said "So you think we can take on the entire pokemon league and anyone who challenges us?" It nodded and growled softly as it's tail flame grew brighter. I grinned and said "Flame, I do believe that if you keep that attitude no one can beat the two of us."

Flame smiled at me and said "Thankyou, but you know I never learned your name." I blinked and Flame grinned then said "What meowth got your toung?" I shook my head then popped my neck. Flame's voice was most definently masculine. He glanced at me and said "Something going on in your mind my friend?" I nodded and pulled out my pokedex then pointed it at him. The pokedex chimed then went into detail about charmander's, their usual resting grounds, and their attitudes. Flame blinked and said "It's wrong as far as attitude goes. Most of us are very friendly, but some dislike people no matter what." I grinned and put the pokedex in my pocket then pulled an oran berry out of my other pocket and tossed it to him. Flame caught it and ate slowly then said "So where's our first stop, my nameless trainer?"

I laughed softly and said "Our first stop is my hous, and my name's Jace. I was professor Taylor's assitant before the two of us met, so I know a bit about pokemon." Flame nodded and we walked inside. Mom looked at him and smiled then handed me my bag and another card loaded with credits. I shoved it into my wallet then dug around in my bag to see what all she packed. I blinked when I found my favorite shirt, a pokenav that could link with my pokedex, a few pairs of jeans, a pair of sneakers, and some other clothing. I smiled and hugged her then said "Thanks mom, but you seemed to have forgotten my toothbrush, and cooking supplies." She palmed her forehead and I kissed her on the cheek saying "Don't worry I'll get it, just be patient." She nodded and I rushed upstairs. After a few minutes I walked back down stairs with the stuff I'd been looking for and started filling my bag. After a few minutes mom started questioning me.

I answered all of her questions then Flame tackled her and she hugged him. I started fo the door then stopped and said "Falme let's get out of here, we've got a long way if we're headed to Pewter City." He nodded and the two of us started south. I glanced at Flame and said "I think we should head to the forest, You're a fire type so The pewter gym's rock types will have an advantage unless we get a few grass and water types." He nodded then growled at the mention of water types and his tails lashed out angrily. I grinned slightly and said "Well, let's hope we don't meet Lena since you and that squirtle hate each other." Flame growled at the mention of Lena's squirtell and started running ahead of me getting ready to fight the first wild pokemon we came across. I kept up the pace I was walking at figuring he'd calm down in a little while, and I'd catch up to him. I was right. After about twenty minutes I came upon Flame sitting on a rock grumbling about me being to slow. I smiled at him and said "Hey hothead, miss me?"

He growled at me and said "I've been here a good ten minutes. So what the hell took you so long?" I shrugged and the two of us walked off the path into the woods and started looking for other pokemon. Flame growled and said "With me out this is a waste of time. Return me to my pokeball and you'll probably end up being attacked by a few pokemon, bug types won't come near us because I'm a fire type." I nodded and pointed the pokeball at him then returned him. The moment he was gone the atmosphere changed. I shivered slightly and thought "The entire area calmed down as if a large predator just vanished. Is a fire type that scary to them?" I stretched and kept walking and jumped behind a tree as a beedril sent poison needles where I'd just been standing. I shivered and watched it fly past then glanced down to see a caterpie climbing up my leg. I sighed thinking about it then pulled otu a spare pokeball and threw it at the little bug. The pokeball caught it and started shaking then the light went out. I walked over and picked it up then shook my head and clipped the ball on my belt.

After a few minutes I glanced up into the trees and pulled out my pokedex as a pidgy landed on a branch near me. My pokedex told me it's stats and I called out my caterpie. The pidgy took one look and rushed at it. I smiled slightly and said "Caterpie, use stringshot really quick, then when it's wings are tangle tackle it." The caterpie nodded and waited until the pidgey was close then coated it's wings and waiste in string. The pidgy slammed face first into the ground and my caterpie tackeld it knocking it into a tree. I grinned and pulled out a spair pokeball then said "Caterpie use tackle again then get out of the way, alright?" It nodded and tackled the pidgey again then jujmped back and sat by my feet. I threw the pokeball at it and it was pulled into the ball. The pokeball started shaking then the red light on the front went out. I glanced down at my caterpie and picked it up then said "Thanks for the help little buddy. But why exactly were you crawling on me earlier?" It shook its head and curled up on my shoulder. I sighed and attached pidgey's pokeball onto my belt then returned caterpie and did the same.

I stretched and glanced down at my pokedex then hooke it up to my pokenav and used the map feature. I found out I was about twenty yards south of a bulbusaur nest and blinked. I shook my head and said "Man, my luck's getting really good, my first day out and I already caught two more pokemon. Also I'm not to far from a nest of bulbusaur. Can my day get any better?" I blinked when I saw what appeared to be an extremely large Muk was attacking a small blue dog, a black wolf, a vulpix, and what seemed to be an arcanine carrying an egg in it's mouth. I ran over and started yelling "HEY MUK OVER HERE I'VE GOT PLENTY OF FOOD ON ME, AND I'M JUST A DEFENSELESS HUMAN YOU OVER GROWN TUB OF LARD!!!!" The arcanine and the other pokemon looked at me then ran past. I sighed thinking that my day went from great to crappy all because I had a hero complex. I looked at the Muk as it rushed at me then climbed up a tree and used one of the limbs to swing to another tree a few feet away. I pulled out my pokeball and said "Come on out Flame, otherwise I'm going to end up being someone's lunch." as Flame appeared. He looked at me and I yelled "FLAME USE FLAMETHROWER ON THAT MUK BEFORE IT GETS TO EITHER OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Flame gorwled and let loos a large flamethrower causing the muck to burst into flames. I thought about it and pulled out a pokeball figuring that it'd be easier to just catch this pokemnon and stop it from hurting anyone, than let it go and have to watch our backs. Flame seemed to have the idea and kept blasting it until his tail flame started to dwindle down to the point where it was only slightly bigger than a lit match. I pulled out my pokeball and threw it at the Muk. The pokeball hit it and popped open the pulled it inside. I watched as it rocked six times before finally locking as the Muk passed out from its injuries. I walked over and picked up the pokeball as Flame looked at me and said" Three questions, Jake. 1. WHY THE HELL WAS THAT THING CHASING YOU? 2. You do realize that the only reason I beat that thing was because it was already tire, right?, and 3. Do we have any food because I'm starving." I glanced at his tail and thought _"With all the energy you used in those flamethrowers I bet you're hungry. I bet you're also tired as hell." _ I grinned slightly as I attached the Muk's ball onto my belt. Flame looked at me and I dug into my bag then tossed him a few apples. Flame ate them eagerly then looked at me and waited for the answer to his other two questions.

I glanced at him and said "In answer to your questions. 1. I pissed it off because it was chasing some injured pokemon, and 2. I know that thing was way stronger than you, but I believed you could handle it because it was moving very slow, even for a muk." He nodded and I said "With that said, and you fed, I believe you should go back in your ball." He nodded and I returned him then followed a thin trail of blood to a clearing where the Arcanine and the others were all laying down panting and coated in Muk's poison. I walked into the clearing with my arms spread wide and the Arcanine got up then started growling at me. I looked at him and said "Easy fella, I just thought you guys could use some help before that poison killls you." It kept growling then glanced at it's companions who all looked like they were about to faint and slowly nodded for me to come closer. I pulled a few potions and antidotes out of my bag then tossed it down and threw my belt with my pokeballs next to it. The arcanine looked at me surprised then sat down infront of the egg I'd seen in it's mouth protectively.

I shrugged and walked over to them then started by taking off my shirt and whiping Muk's poison off each of them knowing that for a start is was the best thing I could do. I blinked when I realized that the dog I'd seen was actually a little riolu who studied me curiously, and the wolf was a little poochyena who sniffed me then yipped and licked my hand, and the vulpix just watched me constantly letting it's eyes shift back to the egg. I finished whiping them all off then started rubbing antidote into each of their wound starting with the poochyena since it was closest. When I finished rubbing antidote in I sprayed it with potion and it jumped up then ran around in happy circles. The riolu walked over to me slowly and I said "Hello little one, I won't hurt you guys,if I wanted that to happen I wouldn't have stopped Muk." She slowly nodded then sat down as I started to gently rub the antidote into her fur and skin. When I sprayed her with the potion she jumped and yipped then sat back down and I said "Sorry, I forgot how much this stuff stings." I finished and tossed teh empty containers in my bag then pulled out a few full containers glad that Doc and mom had over supplied me with potions, antidotes, and heals.

Finally I worked on the vulpix who was abnormally quiet and the arcanine who didn't take it's eyes off me and occasionally let out growls of warning. When I finished I sat down by my pack and dug around in it then pulled out a few apples and tossed one to each of the pokemon. My eyes kept being drawn back to the egg, I couldn't figure out what kind of pokemon egg would cause so many firetypes and a steel type to protect a single pokemon egg. I din't move away from my gear and noticed that all of them were watching me despite the fact I was just sitting there eating. I smiled at them and asked "What surprised a human would give everything up to protect a few pokemon? I'm not your average guy, so don't worry about it. " They studied me and I pulled my glasses off revealing my eyes and the different markings that I'd had since I was a kid. I folded them up and attached them to my shirt then leaned back trying to relax. The forest filtered the sunlight enough that I didn't really have to worry about anything effecting my eyes. The arcanine and I locked eyes then the two of us nodded and it got up. The other pokemon walked over to it and they seemed to have a discussion.I blinked when the Arcanine left and the other three sat around me. The poochyena hopped into my lap, and that's when I realized just how young they were. The riolu was about a month old, the vulpix no more than six weeks, and the poochyena was only two or three weeks old.

The three of them looked at me then the Riolu jumped up and used my shoulder to get ontop of my head while the Vulpix climbed on my shoulder. I laughed and said "I guess you guys are a part of the family. Although I have a feeling I'll see your old friend and that egg again before we get to pewter city." I closed my eyes as I hearth the three of them start to snore and decided to get some sleep myself. As I slipped into a light sleep I thought "I guess this is the real start of my journey. Kind of late, but hey the later sometimes means it'll last that much longer." I woke up about twenty minutes after I'd gone to sleep and noticed that the sun was already halfway across the sky. I sighed and glanced down to see the three little ones were all curled up in my lap. I tried to stand up and let out a yelp as one of them's claws dug into my legs causing me to sit back down in a hurry. I pulled out a pokeball and said "Flame can you help me out? I'm sort of stuck." Flame came out and started to ask what I meant then fell over laughing his tail off. I glared and said "Come on, it's not funny, my leg's are asleep and I think one of them's bleeding from these guys' claws. "

Flame laughed harder at that and it took him a good five minutes to calm down enough to ask "You sure you want some help, it appears that they like you a little bit. Oh you do realize that all three of them are female, right?" I blinked then stared at him slackjawed and he burst out laughing. I glared at him and he said "I fogot that humans can't tell by smell alone, but the way they acted shoulve told you that.So are they why you attacked a Muk?" I nodded and he said "Strange what guys will do when a female is in danger." I nodded and he walked over then picked up my three extra pokeballs and put the three of them into a balll each. I blinked and Flame said "Didn't think of that did you?" I shook my head and he went back into his own ball. I strapped them on my waiste then threw the other three back out. They looked at me and I said "Sorry, but I didn't want someone else catching you and possibly hurting you. If you ever want me to release you just say the word and that's what'll happen." They nodded as I called Flame out and the five of us started down the road. I glanced at a sign as we passed it and whistled softly. Flame looked at me and asked "What's up, something important on that sign?"

I nodded slowly and said "Yeah, we're about ten minutes from Pewter city. Also if we hurry, we may be able to get a bike from someone while we're there and get out of there that much faster after we quick brock's ass. Speaking of which I better find out what our friends can use since they just joined the team." I pulled out my pokedex and pointed it at the riolu first. The pokedex beeped then said "Riolu the young pup pokemon. It's a steel and fighting type that evolves into Lucario. Not much is currently known about this pokemon other than it can control the force known as aura." I blinked and muttered "Aura huh, sounds interesting." I pointed the pokedex at the poochyena and it said "Poochyena the shadow wolf pup pokemon. poochyena is the unevolved form of Mightyena. It's known as the shadow wolf pokemon because of it's appearance after evolving and the fact that it's a dark type. Mightyena and poochyena are known for their shadow ball, and dark fang attacks. Poochyena is commonly found in the hoenn region." I finally turned my pokedex to vulpix and it said "Vulpix the six tailed fox pokemon. Vulpix is a fire and psychic type pokemon. It's the unevolved form of ninetails, and is believed to be able to speak the human language if taught properly."

I glanced at Flame and said "My pokedex forgot to mention that all pokemon have the capability of speaking like humans, it just takes a little bit of effort and training." Flame nodded then sniffed the air and growled his tail's flame glowing brighter. I blinked and pulled my sunglasses back on while lowering my cap and getting ready for a fight.

I blinked when another trainer walked up and pointed at me then said "Hey kid I challenge you to a pokemon battle. If I win, I get your riolu. If you win you get one of my pokemon." I glanced at Flame who nodded then sat down and stared the girls in the face.

They looked at me and I said "He's challenging us to a battle, if he wins our friendly riolu here goes to his team, if I win we get one of his pokemon. You guys ok with this?" Each of them nodded in turn then the riolu hugged me and they all piled onto my shoulders and head. I sighed and said "You have a deal, but don't be surprised if Flame kicks your pokemon's ass." He laughed and threw out a pokeball that burst open to reveal a poliwrath. I pulled out my pokedex and pointed it at the pokemon. My pokedex beeped and said "Poliwrath the evolved form of poliwhirl, It's a water and fighting type pokemon. Poliwhirl is usually found in rivers or large lakes, while poliwrath tends to be found in lakes and along the edge of the ocean." I sighed thinking that Flame was at a disadvantage but Flame just grinned. I shook my head and said "You sure you're up to this Flame?" He nodded and I said "Alright then, start with scratch." He rushed at the poliwrath who pulled it's arm back for a double slap then jumped over it and scratched it's back.

The poliwhirl turned around as it's trainer yelled "Blaster use hydro pump." I blinked and yelled "FLAME JUMP OVER IT, AND WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T LET THE BLAST HIT YOUR TAIL!!!!!" Flame nodded and did as I instructed just as the poliwhirl attacked. The blast barely missed Flame and ended up hitting the pliwhirl's trainer in the face sending him back a few feet. He got up slowly and said "Blaster aim carefully and shoot that thing the moment it touches the ground." Blaster nodded and I said "Flame use tail whip while your in the air, then jump back into the air and use flamethrower while your above it." He nodded and slammed his tail right between Blaster's eyes disorienting him long enough to land and get airborne again. Blaster let off several more hydro pumps as Flame flipped over him then jumped out of the way as flame let loose a weak flamethrower. I grinned and said "Great, now when you land use quick attack. " Flame nodded and rushed at Blaster blindingly fast sending it flying back itno it's trainer. However Blaster wasn't finished yet because he got up and used a focus punch to send Flame flying at a tree. I wasn't going to let him get hurt to bad so I jumped in the way and caught him just before he hit. He smiled at me and said "Thanks, but you didn' thave to do that." I grinned and replied "Next time use flamethrower or tail whip to bounce off the tree then."

He nodded and I said "When you get close use bite then flamethrower, if he tries to hit you with hyrdopump dodge it using quick attack." Flame nodded and I grinned seeing Blaster was a lot worse for wear than Flame. Flame used quickattack to rush Blaster. Blaster charged a focus punch but was thrown off ballance when Flame suddenly bit down on him. I grinned then winced as he let loose a long flamethrower at extremely close range. After a few seconds Flame jumped back and prepared to fight some more. I could tell the last flamethrower had done a lot to his stamina so I was worried. Blster seemed about ready to faint and my opponet was studying us with new found respect. He smiled slightly and said "You won't beat us, your charmander's almost as bad off as Blaster, one hit and he's out." I grinned thinking that he didn't know just how strong flame was. Flame glanced at me and I said "Your choice on what you do just remember what I said about quick attack." Flame nodded and rushed at Blaster who was preparing a mega punch. My opponet laughed and said "You're pokemon's running right into our attack, I almost feel sorry for it." Right before he collided with Blaster however, Flame used Flamethrower to send himself high in the air then came down with a ferocious iron tail attack. I winced in sympathy seeing Blaster fall. Flame walked back over to me and the girls all stared at him, then started acting like I'd done all the work.

I shrugged as if to say 'Sorry, I guess they just like me better than you.' He laughed and said " I got lucky, thankfully Professor Taylor taught me as many moves as he could, and told me speed was a key to battles just like power, but intellect won tournaments." I grinned glad Doc had taught his pokemon so much then reached down and hugged him. He blinked and I said "You did great buddy, especially after fighting earlier." He smiled and said "No we did great, I didn't think about using my tail as a weapon until you mentioned tailwhip, then I realized that Professor Taylor had taught me iron tail yesterday." I blinked and said "You're telling me their was a possibility that your move wouldn't have worked?" He nodded and I grinned then said "Well I guess it all comes down to the fact that you and me are lucky guys. Huh?" He nodded and the two of us turned to our opponent who was gently shaking his poliwrath awake. His poliwrath woke up and he hugged it then said "Blaster you did great, now return." Blaster nodded and returned to his pokeball. My opponent looked at me then said "You know, I thought you were a push over because your pokemon hadn't evolved yet, but I guess I was wrong."

I laughed and said "What's funny is the fact that this was my first day as a trainer, and that was Flame's second battle only." He stared at me and I said "Our last opponent was a Muk, who I ended up catching." He burst out laughing and said "Wow I got beat by a rookie, no wonder the pewter gym leader told me to go train and come back when I learned something. I'm Joshua by the way." I grinned and said "I'm Jace, Jace Shadows. Nice to meet you Joshua." Joshua sighed and said "I guess it's time to go through with our bet, so which of my pokemon do you want?" I shrugged and said "Let me see and talk to them, then I'll tell you." He nodded and pulled out his pokeballs then threw them in the air and said "Everyone come on out, we have some stuff to discuss." I blinked when his poliwrath blaster, a larvitar, a dratini, a stantler, a treeko, and a bagon. Flame and the bagon locked eyes then nodded at each other. I blinked and said "So you've been everywhere I take it." He nodded and said "Everywhere but sinnoh, I haven't really been to any of the other leagues though. I only started as a real trainer when I came to Kanto." I blinked and said "Woah, I'd have thought you'd start in one of the other regions." He shrugged and I let the matter drop then said "Hey you want to travel with me. I hear it's always easier to stop people from attacking you by travelling in a group."

He stared at me in surprise then nodded and we let that matter rest. I pulled out my pokedex and got the data on the rest of his pokemon then put it away. I glanced up in the sky because something told me that I wanted to see what was going above us. I blinked and shook my head as I saw a large bird with golden feather fly past. I shook my head then sat down and loked at Joshua's pokemon. They studied me and I said "You're trainer and I made a bet. Whoever one got one of the other trainer's pokemon, I won so one of you guys is going to have to join me. Who wants to join?" Most of the pokemon backed up but the bagon and larvitar walked forward. I studied them and said "Alright, you guys get to pick who wants to come with me. I won't make either of you do anything you don't want to." They seemed to discuss it among themselves then the bagon walked over and shook hands with Flame. Flame smiled and Joshua tossed me Bagon's ball. I returned him to his ball then he returned the rest of his pokemon and we headed to the pokemon center.

When we got there I put Muk's pokeball on the transporter and sent it back to Doc's place, then I returned all my pokemon to their pokeballs and handed them to nurse joy. She smiled and said "You're pokemon will be ready to go in a little while, if you want you can eat in the concession area while you wait." I smiled at her in thanks then walked over to the center's restraunt with Joshua. He started telling me about his adventures as the waiter laid down our food. We ate for about a half hour then we walked over an got our pokemon. I glanced at Nurse joy as she said "They're perfectly fine, but I have to ask are you sure you can beat the gym leader without a water type?"

I grinned and said "Just watch, my team can beat anyone they throw at us. But thank you for asking, and when we win I'll come back and show you my boulder badge." She studied me and all of a sudden Flame, my poochyena, my vulpix, and my riolu burst out. They looked at me then the girls hopped on my shoulders and head, while Flame just shrugged. I sighed and asked you have any rooms available?" She nodded and handed me a room key. I walked upstairs and Joshua said "I'll see ya later Jake, I'm going to head North and talk to professor Taylor, maybe we'll meet later." I nodded and we went our seperate ways. I opened our room and the girls piled onto the bed while Flame laid down on the couch. I blinked and he said "You get to sleep with the girls, the couch is all mine." I nodded and laid down on the bed then blinked as the girls curled up on my chest, and at next to my neck. I sighed and said "I guess we'll have to wait and see what the morning brings."

While we were getting ready to fall asleep a figure watched the pokemon center from the top of a nearby building and said into his walkie talkie "The boy has arrived in Pewter city. Do I keep watching him." He listened to the reply then nodded and said "Understood, I'll keep my distance. However I still think it's foolish to let his son go anywhere unsupervised. I wonder if team rocket or one of the other organizations will try to go after him." He turned off the walkie talkie and leaned against the wall of the building as a suicune walked up and said "Can you believe Ho oh showed herself to the boy this early on in the game, my friend?" He laughed and said "I sort of am surprised that Arcanine didn't join up with him myself. But he definently is his father's son, same hero complex, same glasses, only thing that's different is the hat. I wonder if he'll get a duster before he leaves Pewter city." The suicuine nodded slowly and said "He looks a lot like his father, but I'm surprised he did so much to help them out when he didn't even know them. I remember his father was the same way. Would you like me to join his part?"

The man shook his head and said "I don't think we should get close. I believe it would be wiser to watch from a distance." The suicune nodded and vanished. The man sighed and said "Your son's exactly like you before you changed Ron. What happened to make you so cold? Whatever it was, I hope it doesn't effect your son. I guess I'll just have to watch and see, then make sure the organization doesn't get a hold of him. Otherwise you'll never be your old self. I know you left to find the legendaries, and I know they're watching your son, just like me, but why the hell did you leave? Your partner misses you, your wife's worried about you, and your son is following your path without realizing it." He shook his head and said softly "I guess the boy will find a way to change you back to normal, if not, then he'll have to destroy you to save the world. I hope he learns how to fight for himself on this journey, because he's going to be like the knights of old." The man shook his head and vanished with a twist of his trench coat.

Another figure smiled darkly and said "So the game begins. The most important pieces are on the board, but no one has control yet. I wonder what the boy will do, and what will happen to the egg? I guess it all comes to which of us get's the most important pieces first. I believe this is going to be a very fun game Roan." The man laughed and vanished in a billow of darkness. A thin dark laugh echoed behind where he'd been and the young lucario who'd been watching the man shivered thinking that his dark aura would destroy anything it touched. She shook her head and watched the pokemon center then dashed off to report everything to her clan.
