Under Ice: Jupiter (5)
The crew of the Nova have finally reached their destination. They zoom around the Jovian planet to drop off satellites and to leave rover's on Io, Ganymede, and Callisto. After a long day of working hard, they settled into a secure orbit with Europa. Their home away from home for the next two months.
26 December 2082
Jupiter loomed in the distance. Hyperion and Errol were at the helm. The two of them were doing last minute diagnostic checks to make sure everything was ready to go. They had to hit the brakes to drop into orbit with the giant planet. Once they drop off the rovers and satellites, they have to break off from Jupiter and pull into a safe orbit with Europa.
Diego came up and strapped himself into his chair, he turned on the PA, “Alright everyone. Get yourselves strapped in. We’re about to hit the brakes and pull into Jupiter's orbit. You’re going to feel a little queasy until the gravity drive adjusts to the change in speed.”
Hyperion took in a deep breath, “Thunder, ready thrusters.”
“Roger that Lightning,” Errol flipped a few switches.
“It’s beautiful,” Hyperion sighed as they approached Jupiter, “Alright. Cookie, give me entry coordinates.”
“Check your console,” said Rasul.
Hyperion turned a few switches off, “Captain. Alert the ship we’re hitting the brakes in ten… nine… eight…”
Diego took over the countdown, “Seven… six… five… four… three… two… one…”
The engines let out a roar that shook the whole ship. Hyperion eased back on the accelerator as he pushed on the brakes. He reached up and turned a few more switches off. The engines sank down to half power as the gravity drive started to creak. The fennec slowly pulled back more against the accelerator as he eased the brakes in further.
“Expanding fins,” Hyperion could feel the force of the slowdown.
Something clunked in the rear of the ship. Hyperion laughed as pulled the engines down to their lowest speed. He reached up and turned a few knobs to help the gravity drive adjust. The ship was slowing it’s approach.
“Engage reverse thrusters,” Hyperion said.
“Reverse thrusters on,” said Errol.
Hyperion checked his gauges, “Come on you beast, slowdown.”
Diego craned his neck to check Hyperion's console. He let out a deep breath as he leaned back into his chair. Hyperion started to turn the ship into the coordinates Rasul sent him. He turned the accelerator off.
“Thunder, hit the forward thrusters,” Hyperion held tight to the steering column
“Firing thrusters,” said Errol.
He turned the ship over so the belly was pointing down at Jupiter. He flipped a few more switches as he changed the positioning of the fins. He let out another laugh and flipped over a few switches.
“Activate autopilot,” Hyperion breathed out as they settled into orbit.
“Lightning!” Errol bounced in his seat, “You did it!”
Diego let out a sigh of relief as he patted the fennec on the shoulder, “Good job.”
“Thank you captain,” Hyperion leaned back in his seat.
“We’ve successfully entered orbit with Jupiter,” Diego announced, “Get your feet beneath you and get readjusted. We’ll be dropping the satellites and rovers after lunch.”
“Captain,” Magnus called in from engineering.
“Go ahead Magnus,” said Diego.
“Are we ready to open the blast shields so we can finally have a view in here?”
“Open us up.”
Magnus pulled a key from his pocket and stuck it into a switch over his head. Once he turned the key, yellow lights flashed through the ship. Panels all over the ship started to slide open to reveal thick windows. Magnus did a quick pressure check of every window to make sure there weren't any leaks. He then turned the key once more as an alarm sounded through the ship. Several panels started to lower away from the walls to let in the view.
Everyone that wasn’t in the bridge or the cockpit were gathered around the windows opening up in the galley and lounge. The panels settled into grooved slots on the floor and locked into place.
“It’s beautiful,” Harvey breathed out.
Kuga lifted himself up on the window seal and smashed his face against the glass, “Wow! It’s more amazing than I imagined!”
The giant planet swirled below them as the ship zoomed around its orbit. All twelve of them had gathered in the galley to get themselves some food. Ken was helping Magnus apply the cream that Julio gave him for his ears while the raccoon made them sandwiches.
“You don’t have to really,” said Magnus.
“Well, your ears aren’t gonna get better if you don’t apply the cream four times a day,” said Ken, “Radiation burns are serious. You already have enough scars and burns. This one requires more care.”
Magnus chuckled, “Ok, fine. Let’s find something for my arms and shoulders later. They’re a lot more sore today.”
“Don’t forget you’re on console duty,” said Diego.
“I know captain,” Magnus replied.
“I catch you doing any heavy lifting until you feel better…”
“Yes captain.”
Diego took his food from the galley and headed back to the bridge. He sat down in his chair and started to chow down. Rasul took his seat at his station with his own food.
“First man to be here twice,” Rasul said.
Diego chuckled, “At least this time I get to enjoy the view a bit longer.”
Rasul sighed as he looked out the window, “Thank you for recommending me for this mission captain.”
Diego cleared his throat, “Why wouldn’t I?”
“At first I thought it was just you crushing on me,” he said, “Then I realized, you really depend on me being here. It’s a good feeling.”
Diego grinned, “You’re a good lay and a good navigator. I wanted both.”
Rasul smiled at him and punched him playfully in the arm. The two of them ate their meal together while the rest of the ship mingled in the galley. After everyone was fed and socialized, it was time to get back to work. Hyperion was back in the pilots seat.
“Alright folks,” he said into the PA system, “I hope you guys can hold your lunch down. Jupiter’s a tough bitch and likes to hold onto things. So when we pull out of orbit to do our drops, we’re most likely going to feel a bit of resistance. Expect a few earthquakes here and there.”
Diego took the PA from him, “Rasul and I are going to send you back launch codes and coordinates for the satellites and rovers. Magnus will relay numbers to you from his console. The rover launchers are manual, and I’ll have to fly them in. So, when Rasul tells you to pull a lever, you pull that lever. I’ll be ready to drive them when you release them.”
Magnus was standing over his console as he was going over the codes from the bridge. A helmet was set down on top of his console by Hugo. There was a large horizontal crack over the back of it with thousands of tiny scratch marks over the entire helmet. Everyone had signed it with a thank you message.
“A little souvenir for you,” said Hugo as he made his way down into the lower deck.
“Hugo?”
“Yeah boss?” the tiger paused at the railing.
“Thank you for saving me,” said the raccoon as he put his hand on the helmet, “It was very dangerous.”
“You’re my friend Magnus,” Hugo smiled, “You would have done the same for me.”
“It was my foolishness that put you in danger,” he said as he rubbed his fingers across the crack.
“You saved all of us, it was only right to try and return the favor” Hugo turned down the steps.
“Hugo?”
The tiger backed up and poked his head up, “Sir?”
“Maybe you and Bruno can mount this somewhere here in engineering,” said Magnus, “And perhaps you can put some of your silly decorations up.”
Hugo smiled ear to ear, “We’ll get right on it after today's tasks.”
“Good, now go,” Magnus smiled to himself as he started to relay codes to everyone below him.
Ken came in to join Magnus, “Julio gave me some eucalyptus paste for your arms and shoulders.”
“Oh? That sounds nice,” said Magnus.
Ken twisted the jar open and the aroma started to waft around them, “Here. You keep working and I’ll get you taken care of.”
“You’re too kind Ken,” the raccoon let out a soft sigh as the wolf started to massage the soothing paste through his fur and against his skin.
“I haven’t anything else to do, so taking care of you until you’re better is my number one priority,” Ken squeezed against his shoulders making the raccoon lower himself down a little from how tender he felt.
“Ach, easy…” Magnus exhaled a deep breath, “Remind me to do something nice for you later.”
Ken chuckled, “I’ll definitely keep it in mind.”
Hyperion came in over the speakers, “We’re good to go up here.”
“Hugo and Bruno have loaded up the satellites Jupiter Nova One and Two. They are prepared for launch,” Magnus replied back.
Rasul coordinated with Hyperion and Magnus. Hyperion pulled them up from orbit causing the ship to shake a little. The fennec eased them further from the planet. They followed around the curve as Rasul monitored their trajectory.
“Launching Jupiter Nova One,” he said as he activated the satellite launch.
“Jupiter Nova One is under way,” said Magnus, “Moving Jupiter Nova Two into the launch bay.” Magnus monitored his screen, waiting for the first one to connect to their system, “JN1 has connected. Confirm secure orbit.”
“Satellite has expanded safely and is in a secure orbit around Jupiter,” Rasul replied back, “Get ready for next launch.”
Jupiter Nova Two was also launched successfully. Rasul confirmed they were ready to move on. Hyperion pulled them further away from Jupiter's orbit. The ship rattled for several minutes as the fennec pulled them free. Their next stop was Io, the closest of the four moons they were going to put under a telescope.
Harvey looked out, “Oh look. Venus without clouds.”
“Mate, thet’s a dream thar,” said Marc, “I hope they get the rover te land right.”
“Very few safe spots for it to drop,” said Harvey as he looked down over Io, “We embarrassingly tried to drop a rover on Venus. It sent us the signal that it had landed, and that was the end of its career.”
Marc chuckled, “Billion dollar ha’twheel, scolded by molten lava.”
“Speaking of,” said Harvey as he pointed.
A giant plume of material was blasting up into space as they approached. Harvey looked on with fascination in his eye. Marc looked on like he just had a good lay. The blast was at least eight miles high. It was unlike anything either of them had seen in person.
Diego took in a deep breath as he sat down at the control station, “I got this.”
“I hope so Papa Grande,” said Rasul, “You’re gonna have to fly the package into this area here in the southern hemisphere. It seems to be the largest and safest patch that isn’t immediately near a lake of molten liquid.”
Diego flipped a few switches, connecting to the rovers flight system, “You got it. I’m ready when you guys are.”
“Hyperion, bring us into position,” said Rasul.
“You got it commander,” the fennec pulled the ship down towards the southern hemisphere of Io.
“Initiate manual release of Io Rover,” Rasul did his countdown and a kachunk indicated Hugo had released the rover.
Diego took over. The bat pushed the controls on the forward thrusters as the rover zoomed in towards Io. He flexed his wings as he leaned in to the screen. The camera immediately got a coating of sulfur as he broke through the thin atmosphere. The bat pushed down towards the ground.
He activated the thruster release and an inflatable crash shield wrapped around the rover. They all watched as the screen went black. The inflatable shield popped and the camera had a view again. They watched as the rover was flipping end over end across the Io landscape. The rover came to a stop on its side.
“Shit,” said Diego.
He pulled up the rover’s on ground controls and turned the rest of it’s systems on. He started to spin the rovers treads and all it did was dance around the ground. He turned his attention to the arm controls. He turned the arms into the ground where they immediately sank. He kept pushing the arms down until they finally found something to push against.
The bat thumbed the tread controls as he held the arms in place. Orange dust kicked up around the rover as he pushed the treads to full speed. The rover flipped over onto its top. The bat slammed his fists against his console.
“You stupid fucking machine!” Diego doubled down on the controls.
Hyperion and Rasul exchanged looks. They were amused and worried over Diego being mad. The bat took in a deep, angry breath as he rotated the arms under the rover. He pushed the arms against the ground to get the rover rocking. His thumbs pushed up against the tread controls. The rover finally flipped over onto it’s treads and Diego swore loudly as they all watched one of the arms fly off of the rover.
“Fuck it, it’s one arm,” Diego started to intiate the rovers automated exploration system, “Found a good clear spot to land the fucking thing, and still, Io gives us a bitch of a time.”
Hyperion started to pull away from Io while Diego finished setting the rovers system up. The fennec was headed toward Ganymede next. The bat pushed up from his console and headed towards the back of the ship.
“I’m going to go take a shower to cool down before the next one,” he disappeared from the cockpit.
Diego unbuttoned his uniform at the flaps over his shoulders. He pushed it back and freed his wings. The flap slid down his tail as he unbuttoned the collar and the rest of the uniform slid down. He shook his legs free and turned the shower on. He leaned against the wall as he let the cool water run down his back and wings. The two showers on either side of him turned on too.
“I know…” Diego sighed.
“We knew Io could be difficult,” said Rasul as he ducked himself under the water.
“One arm is better than nothing,” said Hyperion as he opened his maw under the water.
Diego turned around to let the water hit his back as he grabbed a bar of soap and started to scrub himself down firmly. Rasul came in behind him and grabbed the soap. The bat smiled as the wolverine started to rub down his wings.
“You need to chill,” the wolverine said as he stroked over the bat’s wings.
“I’m just frustrated,” he said.
Rasul slid his arms around him, the hand with the soap rubbing against his balls, “I can help you let some of that frustration out.”
“Hehe, not in front of Hyperion,” Diego blushed.
Hyperion was sporting his seven inch boner from what he was seeing, “Don’t mind me…”
Diego motioned for the fennec to join them. Hyperion blushed as he placed his hands up against the bats hips. He was only as tall as Diego’s massive gut. Rasul started to place gentle kisses along the bats back. Hyperion rubbed his nose gently against Diego’s sheath, breathing the scent in deeply. He gasped as the thick tool started to swell out against him.
“Fuck, dude,” said Hyperion as he reached a hand up and grabbed hold of the bat’s prick.
His hand barely wrapped halfway around it. He was beet red as he started to lick over the tip of the swollen cock before him. Diego gasped out, putting a large hand over the back of the fennecs head. Hyperion giggled as he managed to wrap his mouth around the tip. He started to suckle against the head as he rubbed the beast down with both hands.
Rasul slid his cock up against the bats rump. He wasn’t quite tall enough. Diego spread his legs out to give him better access. The bar of soap slid out of fingers as the wolverine prodded his meaty shaft up against Diego. The bat grunted as Rasul pushed his tip into the tight folds. It wasn’t often Diego allowed this, but he was totally into it right now. The service of his own cock made him more relaxed.
Diego curled his fingers around the fennecs scruff. Hyperion whimpered a bit as he doubled his efforts. He never thought he’d find himself like this with his captain. The bat kept flexing his glans against his maw in reaction to what Rasul was doing. The wolverine was stuffing only about half of himself into the bat. He held his hands tight around Diego’s hips as he held them steady. Thrusting against him with his head leaned in between the wings.
Diego watched the fennec below eager suckle over the head of his cock. The bat was groaning out from how good he felt. Rasul was hitting just the right spot too. The wolverine’s cock was pounding right into his prostate. Diego felt his balls tug up as he started to erupt into Hyperion’s maw.
The fennec let out a surprised squeak. He pulled his mouth back as the load was too much. He lapped his tongue out over the erupting shaft as he worked his hands along the length. His face was getting covered in the bat’s cum as the fennec coaxed more and more of his load out.
The bat started to roll his hips back now that he got off. Rasul groaned out as Diego’s ass started to engulf more of his cock. The wolverine grabbed on tight to his hips as he pounded away. The both of them groaned as Rasul slammed himself in. He was eager to get off.
While the fennec below was busy lapping his face clean, he sat down and started to jerk off to the spectacle above him. The bats cock was still oozing cum and dribbling down on Hyperion as he started to cum hard. He was so turned on when his cock erupted. He clamped his hand down beneath his knot as he shot his load across both Diego’s and Rasul’s legs.
Rasul pulled back on Diego’s hips to get him to stop moving as he started to unload. The bat wiggled his hips back as he clamped on. The wolverine cried out as his load splattered into the tight depths of the captain. Rasul leaned against his back, huffing out as he flexed his cock in the warm hole.
“Captain, we’ve entered Ganymede’s orbit,” Errol announced over the PA.
“Fuck,” Diego pulled free and whacked Hyperion in the face with his balls as he stepped over him.
“Ahh!” Rasul protested as he wasn’t done and the rest of his load blasted over the fennec’s chest.
Diego hurriedly wrapped a towel around his waist as he made his way to the bridge. Rasul apologized to Hyperion for shooting him as he followed after the bat. Hyperion stood up and placed himself under the shower to clean up. He leaned against the wall and smiled.
Diego sat down in the control seat and connected to the next rover, “Ok, let's do this.”
Errol raised an eyebrow at the both of them in their towels, “Try not to drip all over everything.”
“We needed a shower,” said Diego readying the controls.
“Engineering, standby for Ganymede rover launch,” Rasul announced.
The rover dropped from the ship and Diego took control. He released the thrusters and the inflated sphere wrapped around the rover. It skipped across the surface of Ganymede. They had to wait blindly until the sphere stopped moving. Which was taking some time.
“What’s taking so long?” Diego furrowed his brow.
“Give it time,” said Rasul, “It’s like chucking a rock across the Moon.”
The ball finally came to a stop and the sphere deflated. Diego pushed on the controls to get the rover to move forward. Slowly the air bags slipped off of the rover. Diego activated the automation.
“Thank fuck this one worked,” Diego sighed.
Julio came into the bridge with a towel wrapped around himself, “Which of you came all over the shower and left a used fennec in there?”
Rasul and Diego turned red.
“Sorry, we’ll come clean it up,” said Rasul.
Julio rolled his eyes and left, “Don’t do it again. I already have Marc cleaning it up.”
Errol cleared his throat as Rasul and Diego smiled at each other. Errol laughed as he broke orbit with Ganymede and headed for Callisto. Diego stood up and patted Rasul to follow.
“Let’s finish getting cleaned up,” the bat suggested, he then addressed Errol, “Thunder, let us know when we reach Callisto.”
“Will do Papa Grande. We’re about two hours out,” he said, “Just uh...finish up this time. The rovers can wait.”
Diego and Rasul cleared out of the bridge. Errol pulled open the media library. He shuffled through the music before landing on his choice of tunes. He connected it to the PA system. A hard strumming of an electric guitar rang through the ship. Errol stood on tight of his seat and started headbanging to the song and wailing along with the song.
“What the hell is that?” Harvey asked from the couch he was reading on.
“Morder El Culo,” said Ken as he looked up from the game he was playing with Kuga.
“You’re kidding?” Harvey rolled his eyes and stuffed his nose back into his book.
Bruno and Hugo were dancing around engineering. They had started mounting Magnus’s helmet over the entrance to engineering before the last launch, and now they were finishing up. They had printed out a picture of Magnus staring at them grumpily and slid inside the helmet.
“Perfect!” Bruno wagged his tail.
“Don’t think he’ll get mad?” Hugo asked.
“Naw,” said Bruno, “He knows we like his grumpy face.”
They both turned toward the interior of engineering.
Bruno crossed his arms, “I don’t know what else to do.”
“Yeah,” Hugo agreed, “I never expected in a million years he’d give us permission to decorate engineering.”
“Maybe we take it slow,” said Bruno.
Hugo nodded, “Yeah. Probably best to ease him into it.”
“Ye peed on me!” Marc’s voice carried down the corridor.
Julio was laughing as they left the showers, “I was just marking my territory.”
“Y’er quite the madman,” Marc went into his room, a moment later he leaned back out, “Do et agin!” Julio yelped out as Marc pulled him into his room and slammed the door.
“Ah, our happy married couple,” Bruno laughed as he patted Hugo on the arm, “Come on big guy. Let’s run some diagnostics so Magnus can continue to relax.”
“Good idea,” Hugo went into engineering with him.
Magnus had made his way to the bridge where he found Errol still rocking out. He crossed his arms and waited for the weasel to notice him. Errol jumped when he saw Magnus standing there. He hopped off of his seat and turned the music way down.
“Sorry sir!” Errol gulped.
“I just wanted to stop by and request for you and Hyperion to run a diagnostic check on the Spider today,” he said, “I’ll help you both. I’d like to be sure it’s ready to go before we fly down to Europa.”
“Yeah!” Errol nodded, “We’d be happy to help.”
“Gut,” Magnus said as he turned to leave, “Let me know when you’re available.”
“Uh, sir?” Errol said.
Magnus turned back, “Yes?”
“Thanks again for saving us,” the weasel gave him a thumbs up.
“Anytime,” Magnus smiled and left.
Errol slumped down into his seat, “Fuck, I’m dumb. Why am I so scared to talk to him?” The weasel turned back to the steering column and checked their trajectory. He was there alone again on the approach to the moon. He felt a surge of importance that he was being trusted with getting them to their destinations on his own. Errol pulled them into orbit around Callisto.
“Captain, we’ve reached Callisto,” he announced.
Diego and Rasul made their way back to the front. Magnus cleared the way as they passed by. The raccoon made his way to engineering. He cracked a smile as he saw his grumpy face staring down at him on his way into engineering.
“You guys ready down there?” Magnus called.
Bruno popped his head up, “Yes sir!”
Magnus coordinated with the bridge for the final rover drop. Ka-chunk! The final rover was on its way. Magnus rotated his shoulders. He let out a sigh as the pain tingled through his body. He started to do some stretches to try and make himself feel better. Bruno and Hugo came up from the lower deck.
Bruno stepped in line next to Magnus and started doing stretches with him, “Hugo, get in on this. We need a third for our boyband.”
Magnus laughed as Hugo started to mirror him too, “You guys are truly always ridiculous.”
“A day we make you laugh is always a good day,” Bruno teased him.
“Ja, ja, tough around the edges,” Magnus said as he leaned down and grabbed his toes.
Bruno nearly fell over trying to copy him, “And tough to keep up with.”
“I got it just fine,” said Hugo, the tiger had his fingers wrapped under his feet.
“Oh, you’re just showing off,” Bruno chuckled.
Magnus groaned as he leaned back up and stretched his arms up as high as he could go. It hurt. The raccoon lowered his arms and started to twist his torso back and forth.
“Can you guys help me with the Spider later?” he asked.
“Of course!” Hugo smiled, “We’ve been dying to get in there.”
“Oh?” Magnus replied.
“It’s an incredible beast,” said Hugo, “A technological marvel. Needless to say, we’re quite jealous of your design.”
Magnus blushed, “Danke. I hadn’t realized how much you liked it.”
“Dude,” Bruno said, “It’s like the toy our parents wouldn’t get us as children. You turned an action figure into living reality.”
Magnus laughed, “You’ve found my secret. I was inspired by silly things such as toys and movies when I was designing it.”
“Attention,” Diego came on over the PA, “We’ll be reaching our final destination soon. For the next two months, this is our home. We’ve made it this long without going crazy and I think it’s from the good company. And to keep up with positive morale, I’d like to propose we take a few nights a week to just hang out. As Allen always told us, don’t overwork yourself. You need to step back and readjust.”
“Aww, he’s rubbing off on you,” Rasul’s voice carried through the ship.
“Shut up,” the sound of Diego smacking him also sounded off before he turned the PA off.
Bruno and Hugo laughed.
“Ah yes, the positive morale,” Bruno slapped Hugo on the arm.
Hugo raised an eyebrow. Bruno realized what he just did and bolted out of engineering.
“Noooo! I’m sorry!” Bruno howled as Hugo chased after him.
Hyperion ducked out of the way on his way into the room, “Hey Magnus. If you want an early jump on the Spider diagnostics, I’m free right now. Errol says he’ll stop in once we’ve settled into orbit over Europa.”
“I’ve lost my engineers,” Magnus laughed as he watched Hugo tickle Bruno down onto the floor.
Hyperion smirked, “Come on. They can catch up later.”
Magnus leaned toward the fennec and ran a claw over the back of his ear, “You have a bit of leftovers on you.” Magnus wiped his claw clean with a cloth.
Hyperion turned bright red, “I thought I managed to get all that off.”
Magnus walked by the fennec, “Kommen sie.”
Hyperion followed Magnus to the middle of the ship and followed him up the hatch into the spider. Magnus turned the lights on and opened the windows on the Spider. Hyperion slid himself into the cockpit. The raccoon had it specifically designed for Hyperion and Errol to operate. For which Hyperion was thankful. He didn’t have to reach too far.
“Alright,” the fennec typed commands into his console, “Where should we start?”
Magnus stood at the console behind him, “Go ahead and start with the engine, we’ll go down the line from there.”
“You got it,” Hyperion started the diagnostics for the engine.
Magnus watched the numbers on his station, keeping an eye out for any errors. The two of them heard the announcement from below. They were settling into orbit around Europa.
“Home sweet home,” Magnus muttered.
“Out of everyone on board,” said Hyperion as he moved onto the next section, “I don’t know you the most. I don’t think I even know of any of your hobbies outside of designing ships and building them.”
“Those are my hobbies,” said Magnus as he confirmed the engines were fine onscreen, “I really don’t spend much time on anything else.”
“Ahh,” said Hyperion as he ran the next line, “But you have spent time doing other things. Even if it wasn’t much.”
Magnus glared at him, “Fine. I play board games and card games.”
“See?” said Hyperion, “That’s something. Maybe we can play together sometime.”
“Maybe,” said Magnus as he scanned the new set of lines.
“I have all sorts of hobbies,” said Hyperion, “I brought my guitar with me. Also a few foam guns.”
“The kind with the little suction cup darts?” Magnus chuckled.
“The very same,” said Hyperion, “I have to get one of them back. I shot Diego’s console a few days ago, and he hasn’t forgiven me.”
Hyperion continued to talk Magnus’s ears off. The raccoon didn’t mind much. He was actually quite impressed by how much he talked and didn’t need any water to refresh himself. Errol, Bruno, and Hugo finally showed up to help. Magnus put them to work on the leg and drill diagnostics. Hyperion pulled up the final diagnostic check of the main system as he stifled a yawn.
“You can head out if you like,” said Magnus as he ran the numbers.
“Oh no,” Hyperion stretched out, “I’m good. More hungry than tired!”
Magnus checked his watch, “It is that time. Let’s go ahead and let the final check run. I’ll finish up after dinner.” Magnus ducked down into the back of the ship, “We can finish the rest of the check in the morning. Go get food.”
The five of them climbed down the hatch and back into the Nova. The air was much less stale down here. Errol bounded in next to Hyperion and spoke in a hushed voice.
“Sooo, tell me about the showers,” he grinned knowingly.
Hyperion turned red, “Dude. The captain and commander are fuckin’ hung. Like yeah, we can see that in the showers, but both of them hard? Holy shit.”
Errol chuckled, “I can’t believe they involved you.”
“The captain pulled me into it!” Hyperion looked back on the event, “Oh man, it was wild. I’d be stupid to not admit I’m rather curious how either one of them would feel, you know, back there.”
“I figured they didn’t get you from there,” Errol nudged him with his elbow, “Otherwise you’d be walking funny.”
Hyperion shivered, “I’ll admit. The captain tastes good, but I can still feel it in my nose.”
After dinner, the group of them gathered around one of the windows and stared down at Europa. The icy moon stared back. Tomorrow, Project Europa would be in full swing. Hyperion let out another long stifled yawn. Magnus pushed him off to bed.
“We have a long day again tomorrow,” he said, “Get some sleep.” He turned to all of them, “You guys too.” They all agreed and dispersed for their nightly rituals. Magnus returned to the Spider to finish the diagnostics. The raccoon fell asleep at the console from having pushed himself too much.
