Right. Thank you to those that gave helpful advice on the last chapter, or who sent me messages. I have slightly changed the format in which I put this up, due to a few suggestions, and I have tried my best to follow the advice given. Fair warning, there may be some editing mistakes as I do all of that by myself, and these past few weeks have been hell on my schedule. Also, I feel like I need to specify that the point of this is not to be a sex story. Yes, sex will be in most chapters, but I am writing this mostly for the story. The sex scenes are just an added bonus. The one in this particular chapter is a little bland, and I'm sorry about that. As always, any constructive criticism is appreciated.

The morning after that night of passion, James woke to find Iris sitting with her back up against a tree near the edge of camp.

She turned to him. “You know, Elric said this was a possibility, but he couldn’t say for certain because you weren’t born a dragon,” she said, with a smile that seemed just a bit off.

“What do you mean,” James said, confused by the vagueness of the statement.

“Dragons are intensely magical creatures. They have a few magical things they do passively around them. One of those is that they amplify any positive feelings other people might have towards the dragon.”

James was initially curious, but as he thought about the implications, he was horrified. “You’re saying I basically magically drugged you into having sex with me,” He said all of this, starting to panic about what he had done.

Iris laughed, a sound that, in the context of the conversation, was almost as jarring as the original news. “Did you not hear what I said? That reaction amplifies feelings. They have to develop feelings for a dragon, and then the process begins. Initially I didn’t care for you, but between our conversations and you saving me, I started to care for you as a friend. By last night, I couldn’t sleep because I knew I would dream about you, but I rationalized it as curiosity, nothing more. Then I saw you sneaking out of camp and decided to follow. You know the rest”

James was relieved by what she said, but he still was unsure about himself. “I’ll try to stop it from happening again, I don’t know if I like how that whole process works.”

Iris sighed, looking up at him. “A male of any race, putting in effort to avoid fucking a female. What, did you not like the sex”

James blushed, stammering, “W-What. No. No no no, I liked it, but…”

Iris raised an eyebrow, saying, “But what? I’m fine with it, and you can bet your scaly ass I’ll be fine with it more than a few times before we're done with this trip.”

If anything, this only made James blush harder, and he just decided to quit while he was behind. He walked back towards their camp, while Iris still sat chuckling to herself.

After around an hour they started out on their journey again, and a little before noon Iris they had a decision to make.

James had decided to try his hand at flying for a few minutes. It was rough, but he thought he was starting to get the hang of it. As he was turning to land, Iris was waving him over. He did his best to glide down to her, but he was less than graceful on his landing. His front legs slipped, and he fell forward face first into the dirt.

As he got up, trying to ignore Iris laughing, he asked, “What is it, is someone nearby?”

Iris showed him one of the maps she had been looking at earlier. “We’re about a day away from a town I had planned to get extra supplies in, and 3 days from the first major city. And yet, despite being a good bit away from that town, there is a trail of footprints leading into the forest. At least two men, going out of the forest, but one of them was carrying something when they went back into the forest. The performers from a few days back did say that there might be bandits around.”

“So you think that the bandits are nearby, and they took something?”

“That's not the worrying part. They had to have taken whatever it was they took from someone, and I didn’t see any sign of a body. I think they kidnapped someone and carried them into the forest,” she said this with a somewhat grim expression, and then added, “I think we should try to save them from those bandits. The town is far enough away and the tracks are faint enough that we could lose the trail if we don’t act now.”

“Do you think the two of us can deal with them ourselves?” James asked, not concerned so much as curious. He really didn’t know his limits, and he knew Iris was at least competent.

Iris thought for a moment, before nodding her head, “We can definitely pull it off, the question is, how. I’m a great shot with the bow, and I still have a few of my good arrows left. You are, well, a dragon defined by their ability to kill. The problem is, you don’t know how to use a lot of your abilities, and Allister was the weakest in a straight fight.”

James was surprised by that last comment, “Allister was the weakest?”

“Yup. He used stealth and poison to weaken a place, before cleaning up whatever was left. In several instances he was attacking a town for a week before anyone even saw him.”

James thought about that for a moment, “Why don’t we do just that?” he said.

“If they kidnapped someone, they are probably going to keep them alive. There is no guarantee that whatever you poison won’t harm them.” Iris said.

“Maybe we should see what we are up against, and go from there”

“Good idea.” Iris said this, at this point already walking towards the tracks.

The trail led into the forest for about 10 minutes before it turned into a much more defined path. James and Iris decided it would be safer to walk parallel to the path rather than on it. It was about half an hour before the first signs that they were on to something appeared. James smelled smoke, it was a very faint smell, so they still probably had a fair amount of ground to cover, but it was there. Another ten minutes passed before they had to stop. They heard the sound of a branch breaking, and a muffled curse from a tree just next to the trail. Iris motioned for James to try to do something, as she couldn’t get a clear shot.

James almost crawled to the base of the tree, before using his claws to slowly climb up the trunk. He made sure to stay on the opposite side from the person in the tree until he was slightly higher up than they were. As he was circling, a loose bit of lichen on the trunk got scraped off by his claws, and landed on the shoulder of the person in the tree, a bearded man wearing poorly made studded leather. The man started to turn to look at what caused it to fall, and in a brief moment, James had wrapped one of his legs around the man's face, and started whispering, “In a moment, I am going to let go of your face, and I will drag you out of this tree. If you scream, you will die a painful death. Let's do this the easy way.”

The man, visibly terrified, started shakily nodding. James grabbed him and glided down toward where Iris was. He was going slower, so it was a smoother landing, but the guy he was carrying hit the ground hard. Iris immediately went to grab him, and while he was terrified before, once he saw James directly for the first time that terror only got worse.

The guard opened his mouth, and in almost a squeak said, ‘I’ll tell you everything. I don’t wanna die, my brother just told me that this was easy money.”

Iris gave him a smile, and asked, “The bandit camp do they have any hostages?”

The bandit nodded, and held up one finger.

“How many of you are there?”

“A dozen,” he said, glancing over at James, who was giving him a nice toothy grin.

“Right, I assume based on your reaction you understand how much danger you are in?” Iris said. The man nodded again. “Perfect. How much danger you are in depends entirely on where you are when we come back. If you’re still here, you live. If you run, you can’t run faster than a dragon can fly. Got it?” the man nodded again.

James and Iris put in a little effort to make it easier, and to try to see if they could get any more out of him, but it was ultimately a waste of time. They tied him to a tree a little ways from the trail and started approaching the camp itself.

The camp was set in a clearing, at the base of a 40 foot rock face. It looked like an attempt to excavate into the rock face was made, but eventually abandoned. There were a handful of tents set up around a large fire, and James could see at least 10 people from where they were. He thought he could see signs of another one in a tent on the far side of the fire. Most of them actively had a visible weapon on them, and one had no weapons, but instead a set of wands and an ornate set of robes.

That was not the most important thing they noticed. The person the bandits had kidnapped was inside a heavy wooden cage in the small opening in the rock face. The prisoner was a young woman. She was wearing a tattered dress that might once have been nice, and she looked tired, but it seemed she had food and water given to her regularly. She also wasn’t human, not by a long shot. Her skin was a darker shade of cyan, her hair reached all the way to her waist, and was dirty, but it was still easy to tell it would be pure white when it was clean. Along her head, seeming to grow out from behind her ears, were two fins that extended behind her head a short distance.

Iris let out an exclamation behind James. She leaned up and whispered, “That’s a sea elf. They are incredibly rare on the surface. We need to save her.”

“Wasn’t saving them the plan anyway,” James asked.

“Well yes, but now it is important because the university would love to talk with one of the sea elves.”

James slowly backed further into the forest. “Let’s worry about how we are going to save them, and go from there.”

“You can glide for a little while, if you go off of the top of the rock face while most of them are asleep, you can spew poison gas over the tents. Any survivors I can take care of while you land.” Iris said, after a moment of thought.

“My every attempt at flying has been clumsy, but I think I can glide well enough to pull that off without hurting the sea elf. I’ll start circling up to the top of that rock face.” He said, starting to slowly make his way around the clearing.

It took the better part of an hour to do so quietly, while still keeping an eye on the camp. As the sun started to set he noticed it reflecting off something on the back of the hill leading up to the rock face. It was a man wearing the same sort of armour as the bandits, and holding a greataxe. Based on how he was standing, he was watching over the hill so nobody could get right above the camp. After a few minutes, the bandit walked up, looked over the camp, then walked to the edge of the forest, idly whistling as he sat up against a tree. As James approached through the cover of the trees, the bandit pulled out a flask of something. As he started to drink, James sprinted the last few yards towards the bandit, who lowered the flask and tried to yell, but started choking on his drink. Before he had a chance to yell, James’ jaws had closed around his throat, ending the man’s life.

James didn’t allow himself the time to think about it. As it became dark, he looked, and saw that the robed man was sleeping too close to the sea elf for James to risk poisoning him. Finally, he backed away from the edge, before leaping off and starting to glide around the camp. He began letting massive clouds of green fog, which drifted down over the tents, and the last embers of the fire. He then heard the deep thrum of Iris’ bow, as she fired at the first man to try to step out of their tent. He continued to circle, spewing poisonous clouds throughout the camp that dissipated quickly in the breeze. James began to hear the sound of coughing and choking, as he descended through his own fog.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of an incantation, as a massive gust of wind blasted through the camp, clearing all of the fog. James immediately folded his wings in and fell the last few feet to the ground, as he saw the robed man, standing with a wand out and at the ready. It seemed that of the other 10 or so that had been in the clouds, three had been killed by arrows, and 4 hadn’t survived the poison fog, while the other three were coughing, seeming barely conscious. James heard another thrum, as an arrow whistled past him at the robed man, who was still speaking arcane words. The arrow was blown far off course, hitting the rock wall behind the man. James ran towards him, but it became difficult to move forward in the wind. As this happened, James heard a voice in his mind, so similar to his own.

If you can’t handle this on your own, the voice said, then I worry about our chances of survival.

James felt a mind, so familiar, yet so strange, ease its way into his being. He felt a strange sensation, muscles acting of their own accord, as his mouth opened, sending clouds of green smoke billowing out behind him in the winds. Then, he felt an almost burning sensation in his throat, as the cloud narrowed into a thin beam that began to burn and glow with an intense green light. As the beam hit the body of the robed man, his flesh began to decay, his body withering and falling apart as his flesh died before his very eyes.

As the beam stopped, James felt the mind recede, staying just at the edge of his own. There, if you want me to help any more, I will, the voice said.

James sat down, and reached out with his own thoughts. Who are you?

I’m you, or rather, I’m the part of your mind that is the dragon, the voice replied.

Allister?

Yes and no. The instincts of the body of Allister, but tempered and controlled by your own mind. Ever since you first woke up, what was essentially a copy of your mind was trying to subdue the desires of Allister. As of about ten minutes ago, I succeeded. I am you, but given the instincts and some aspects of the dragon Allister. I think anyway. To be honest, I feel like the James part of me is confused, like you, but the natural confidence of a dragon helps. I’ll help you in fights or when flying, but I don’t trust what I am enough to take over.

James thought for a moment, before asking, Are you a part of my mind, or a separate mind?

A part. I am a small fragment of your mind, bound together with the instincts of the dragon. I am still you though. But, for the sake of confusing us as little as possible, call me Allister

As James’ internal conversation wound down, Iris walked up saying, “That was a cool yet horrifying trick. Well done, before she rifled through the robes of the man James had killed. She pulled out a key, and opened the cage the sea elf was in. The sea elf herself was huddled in the back.

“Keep that demon away,” the sea elf said, barely speaking above a whisper.

Iris walked over, putting her bow away as she crouched down, saying “I know what he looks like, but he’s nice.”

“That’s Allister, the dragon whose poison almost destroyed the sea elves’ largest cities. Do you know what that is?” the sea elf said, almost hysterical.

James padded up and sat on his haunches. “Regardless of what I may look like, I am not Allister, though I understand the confusion. My name is James.”

Upon hearing this, the sea elf started standing and stepped out of the cage. “You really aren’t Allister,” she said, almost stuttering and still seeming nervous. “But, you look just like him. How, I mean, what are you?”

“Long story. Short version, human mind, dragon body. My name is James,” James said, giving his best grin, which was still menacing given the teeth.

The sea elf looked to Iris, who nodded at this. “Well, my name is Almaea Desarin. I was going to travel to the University of Cralnik Hollow, but I overestimated my capabilities.”

Iris looked shocked as she said, “You were already going to the university? That is perfect, I wanted to ask if you’d be willing to go there with us.”

“Yeah, I was going there because the sea is a… problematic place for me to be,” She said, looking both ashamed and amused. “I may or may not have been banished from any and all kingdoms of the sea elves.”

“How?” Both Iris and James exclaimed, now curious.

“Well, I was arranged to be married to the eldest son of the high king, but I may have done something that was offensive to them, and they dismissed the marriage contract and banished me.”

Once again, both Iris and James responded with, “How?”

“Well, I may have fucked my husband-to-be’s sister. And his younger brother. And several of his servants. And when I was caught, I tried to get out of it by offering to fuck the guards that caught me. Needless to say, they weren't amused.”

“You’re joking. Why would you do that,” Iris asked, trying not to laugh.

“Well, his sister was hot. And his younger brother was both really nice and hot. And he was overall a bit of a stuck up prick.” Almaea said, grinning from ear to ear while blushing.

“Right, back on topic, why do you want to go to the university?” Iris said, with some tears from holding back laughter in her eyes at this point.

“Well, I was told that would be the best place to go to learn magic, and seeing as magic is the only practical skill I have, it seemed like the place to be.” Almaea said.

“It certainly is the best place for it. So how about it? Want to join us on our journey?” Iris asked, gesturing back at the dragon, who was managing to have a visible blush through his scales.

Upon seeing this, both of the girls started laughing again, while James looked even more embarrassed. “Yeah, what could go wrong?” Almaea said, once she stopped laughing.

After a quick search through the camp, they found a few scattered belongings of Almaea, and a bit of extra coin for their trip. Eventually, Almaea found some suitable traveling clothes in one of the tents that didn’t look like they had been worn. Before they left, she decided to change out of the ripped dress she had been wearing.

As Almaea changed, James snuck a few glances in. Almaea had mostly humanoid features, but there were a few differences. She had fins on the backside of her arms, and lower legs. She also had something resembling very small gills on the side of her torso. At that moment the skin was in a position so that unless she stretched it was just a few small lines on her torso, but it was a bit weird that they were there as it was. For a moment he thought he was about to get a nice view of her tits, but then Iris smacked him.

“Don’t even think about it,” she whispered just quietly enough that Almaea couldn’t hear.

“You really think I would just shamelessly stare at someone changing,” James said, acting overly dramatic. Iris just raised an eyebrow in response.

After that they headed out once again. On the trail, they actually found the original scout that James had pulled out of a tree, and decided to let him go. They managed to get in a few hours of travel, but it was clear they weren’t getting to the town today.

After they set up camp, Almaea decided to go to bed earlier than the others. Given that she was a prisoner earlier that day, James and Iris thought that was a fair idea. After she fell asleep, Iris and James sat around the small fire, occasionally throwing glances at one another. James was tempted to start another conversation about last night, but with Almaea in the camp, he didn’t want that series of events to repeat. If you were to judge based on the expressions Iris was giving him, she absolutely wanted a repeat of last night.

After around 30 minutes of this awkward silence, Iris went to one of the two unoccupied tents, and gestured for James to follow. He walked up to the small tent, nervous about the fact that Almaea was only sleeping around 40 feet away. Iris, unfettered, had already taken most of her clothes off, and was down to just a pair of underwear and a simple bra.

“Listen, while I understand that you would really like this, I don’t think we should do it given that we have someone we intend to travel with within earshot.” James said, quietly.

“Oh, what are you saying? I just wanted to lie down for the night with a friend. What are you thinking of, you dirty dragon?” Iris said, with an expression of mock surprise as she slowly unclasped her bra.

Before he could respond, she was already bringing him into a kiss. By this point, James had accepted it, and instead of breaking the kiss, he leaned into it. After a moment, Iris started feeling around for his penis, which had already begun to slide out of his slit. Iris eventually got her hand around it, and broke this kiss while giving James a big grin.

“So, what’s nex-’ James started to say, before Iris suddenly dropped beneath him. He found it rather hard to do anything but groan in pleasure as she gave his cock a long, slow lick. She kept slowly licking, occasionally pausing to give his tip a kiss, while stroking along the ridges at the base with her hand. While James would’ve been happy to let this play out, he had a better idea. He laid down on his side, and now with his paws free, he grabbed Iris’ waist. She let out a little cry as she was moved, but otherwise continued to give his member the attention she felt it deserved. James slipped her underwear down, and licked his lips as he saw his prize.

He gave her pussy a lick, noticing she was already incredibly wet. She was also trying not to moan, and almost every time he gave a lick, he could feel her stop for a moment to try to keep herself quiet. Then she decided to take things up a bit. He felt her take his penis into her mouth, sucking on it while still stroking the base. He felt her take it down to the first ridge, and the sensation could only be described as divine. Despite needing to stay quiet, he let out a low, rumbling growl, which he thought was quiet enough that it couldn’t be heard.

James then felt himself getting close, and decided to pull out all the stops. He pushed his long and very flexible tongue into her passage. She couldn’t stop herself from moaning around his cock at this. By this point they had gone far enough that neither really cared. Both knew the other was close, and after minutes of Iris deepthroating him, and James having his tongue writhing inside her, they came.

For James, there was nothing but the sweet moaning and a torrent of her juices, but for Iris it was a different story. She tried to swallow the massive spurts of potent seed, but it was too much at once. It started to leak out of her mouth as she pulled off, then the next spurt covered her face. This went on for a few more seconds before it slowed, and then eventually stopped.

James had to keep himself from laughing at Iris, whose head and chest were covered in the pearly white liquid. Iris didn’t even try to stop herself from laughing, both at her own state, and at James face, which still had the juices from her pussy smeared all over the snout.

“We should get cleaned up,” James said, starting to get up and move out of the tent.

“We wouldn’t want to risk Almaea seeing us, and I know a spell that might help,” Iris replied, looking through her clothes before grabbing a wand. She focused for a moment, before muttering a few words. All of the various liquids covering them were drawn into a small sphere at the end of it, before disappearing with a faint pop.

“As much as I’d love to keep doing this, I’m tired. I’m heading to my tent. Goodnight, Iris,” James said, smiling as Iris leaned up and kissed him. Despite the spell, James could taste something salty, spicy, and slightly bitter that he could only guess was himself, and Iris definitely tasted a bit of herself on him.

Before he decided to stay James left her tent to head to his own, and noticed something out of the corner of his eye. When Almaea went to sleep, she had closed the flaps on the front of her tent, but now one of them was open. James was tempted to look in and check on her, but after a moment he realized something. He could hear her faintly moaning. Apparently she had woken up, and enjoyed the sounds coming from him and Iris quite a bit. James was incredibly embarrassed by this, as he went into his tent and curled up for the night.

The next morning, they prepared for the journey ahead of them, and dealing with the town. Iris spent an hour trying to teach James an invisibility spell, and while it usually worked, it sometimes flickered. It also didn’t help that James kept glancing at Almaea, who had been looking at them both with a nervous expression all morning. Eventually they started traveling for the day.

After an hour, James had to walk into the trees because a small group was on the road ahead. While he was in the trees, he saw Almaea start a short conversation with Iris, in which she looked surprised. After a moment, she seemed to laugh at something Almaea said. The conversation stopped as they passed the group on the road, but picked back up afterwards.

During this alone time, James reached out to the draconic part of himself.

So, are you still there? He thought, curious to learn more.

We are the same being. Unless we die, I will always be here. He heard the thoughts in his mind. Now that he was free to focus on it the thoughts felt like his own, but it was more in the sense of a subconscious thought that pushes into the conscious part of his mind. It was just strange and alien enough to feel different, but familiar enough that he knew it was him.

The beam we fired, what was that? James asked.

I don’t exactly know. We knew it was the right thing for the situation, the instincts were strong. We just weren’t sure why.

If you are our instincts, shouldn’t you know what we can do? James asked again.

I am a part of you with Allister’s instincts. I can guide you, and better act on those instincts. But I can’t identify them. The instincts are strange to you. I think they aren’t a part of the mind, but rather the instincts of the body and brain. I think that is why just a piece of your mind was able to overtake it.

I think I understand, but this is really weird. James thought.

Indeed.

By the time James could rejoin them, the conversation had stopped. James was curious, but decided not to ask. After another two hours, they got near enough to the town that they split off of the road. The idea was that Iris would get a room, and Almaea and James would sneak in using invisibility. Then Iris would get supplies, they’d sleep through the night, and in the morning they would leave.

It took around 20 minutes before James saw a light flashing from one of the second story windows, telling them that it was time to go in. They snuck through the emptier parts of town, careful to avoid being near people even with the invisibility, and James grabbed Almaea and leaped up, grabbing the edge and pulling himself in as quietly as he could.

Iris quickly shut the window and pulled the curtains over it. “Did anyone notice you?” She asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. When both of them shook their heads she let out a sigh of relief. “Right, I’m going to go get some food and extra water.”

After she left, James noticed very quickly that Almaea was nervous about something. She kept fidgeting, and was very obviously making an effort not to look at him.

“Something on your mind,” he said, curious.

“Oh, its nothing, just thinking about yesterday, and stuff,” Almaea said, before she started very faintly blushing.

James realized she must be talking about what she heard last night, and decided to mess with her a bit. “Oh, feel free to talk. I am absolutely willing to listen,” he said, walking over and sitting next to her.

She let out a heavy sigh, “I don’t think it would be right to let out all of my burdens on someone I’ve known for a day.” As she said this, James saw her shift slightly, just enough that he couldn’t see the front of her pants. James then realized there was a faint smell, just barely noticeable.

She was definitely aroused right now. James kind of wanted to see where this was going, but he also didn't want to risk getting heard or Iris getting mad at him, so he backed off and laid down on the far side of the room. He heard Almaea let out another sigh as he walked away, but he couldn’t tell if it was from relief or disappointment.

Iris returned after about an hour, and they spent the day idly talking. James could tell that there was something going on between the two, but he had no idea what. Eventually he decided to try and learn a bit more about magic, specifically the spell that had changed his size when he first got to this world.

“That was a spell that allows living things to change size. It was life magic, so Elric figured you would be able to cast it without any real training if he guided you a bit.” She said

“What do you mean by guided,” He asked back.

“He gave you a few little things to think about to keep you focused, and he used a small spell to help you think about what he wanted you to do.” She said, giving him a smile.

“This was the mind magic you had mentioned, right,” Iris nodded as he said this. “Why haven’t we used that at all?”

“It is incredibly difficult, and seeing as how it is going into someone's thoughts most mages don’t do it. Elric only did it because a large dragon would have been harder to deal with.” She stated calmly.

“Could he have seen my thoughts, or anything?” he asked suspiciously.

Iris chuckled a bit before replying, “No, you would have felt if he had done anything other than slightly alter surface level thought. It also wouldn’t be possible to hide an expenditure of magic that large from a dragon.”

He thought about this for a minute before nodding. After another couple of hours, they went to bed. They needed some rest and planned on leaving at first light.
