Mewtwo Makes a Master

Part 1

For Sonic232

By Draconicon

When the Master Ball let out a final ding to confirm the capture, Barret collapsed where he stood. His breath came in harsh puffs and pants, his eyes locked on the purple and white ball that was on the far side of the cavern. The horse could hardly believe what he was seeing. It was a dream, right? There was no way that he had -

But he had, and now, his Gardevoir, Azalea, came floating back to him and wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight embrace.

"You did it," she whispered, her voice pitched low in a way that only he could hear. "You did it...you captured Mewtwo..."

He nodded, the whole thing still hazy in his mind, still feeling utterly impossible that he had accomplished something of that magnitude. Something had to have gone wrong, right? Something had to be off, wrong, something that would have proven that he'd done it wrong and screwed it up?

Except there was nothing. No sudden breaking of the ball, no appearance of Mewtwo from behind a rock to prove that he'd teleported out of the way at the last second, nothing that might have implied that he had fucked it up. Barret had done it. He had done the impossible and caught one of the most powerful Pokémon in all of existence.

Azalea had to help him back to his hooves, and he was still shaking as he walked over to the pokéball. The Master Ball. He'd saved it for so long, and it had been worth it. He reached down, half-expecting the ball to break open as soon as he touched it, but no. The sturdy thing held together, a prison for the powerful Psychic type.

What am I going to do now?

That was the question, he realized. A year training up to get permission to enter this cave in the first place, and now that he'd finally done what he had set out to do...well, what did the horse do next?

What did anyone do next?

"Master?" Azalea whispered.

"Barret," he muttered, looking up from the ball and over his shoulder. "Please, just call me Barret. You know that I hate that."

"Even though that's what you are?"

"To the rest of the team. Not to you."

She blushed, and so did he. White skinned and dressed with green hair, the Gardevoir was the most potent and the most cared-for of all his Pokémon, and hadn't left his team since he'd first found her, captured her...

Loved her...

He blushed, looking down at the pokéball again. He could feel something there, something different to the average catch. It twitched, pushing ever so slightly against his hand. The Master Ball was holding, but it was clear that there was a powerful Pokémon in it, one that could fight back against anything less than this.

The horse would have to be very careful.

"Shall we go back to the Pokémon Center, Barret?"

"Yeah...yeah, let's do that."

The horse shook his head, shrinking the pokéball down and putting it against his belt. Azalea floated to his side, her sleeves flaring elegantly before she laid her hand against his arm. He took her hand, and they walked together out of the cave. She'd need to go back into her ball later, just to keep up appearances, but for now, they could be together.

Trainer and Pokémon, but also, lover and lover.

Cerulean City was a decent enough place, if a little bit water-obsessed. The gym leader, the fountains, the fact that there was a river that cut right past the city and everyone was always staring over the fence post between them and it: all anyone cared about was the water and Water Pokémon. It was a little bit frustrating the first couple of times that he came through, but Barret had gotten used to it at this point. They were just different, and every city in Kanto seemed to have their own obsession. This one was just a little more obvious.

He checked in with the nurse at the front desk, got a room key, and went to the second floor. As soon as he was behind closed doors, he let Azalea out again.

"Sorry," was the first word that left his lips, only for her to shake her head.

"It's alright. I understand."

He knew that she would, just as she always did, but that didn't mean that it felt good to him to do it. The fact that he couldn't bring himself to be completely open about his preferences for Pokémon - well, for her, at least - meant that he was always hiding her, always treating her like some party member rather than his partner. Their relationship wasn't precisely illegal, but it was something that was...

Well, not even frowned upon these days. Sure, there was a sort of disapproval in some of the cities out there, but not here in Cerulean. Hell, not throughout most of Kanto. As long as it wasn't a tiny or baby Pokémon, people didn't seem to care that much.

But it still felt embarrassing to him to have those stares following him through town, so he tended to keep Azalea in her pokéball just like the rest of the team when he wasn't in the wild. They had their time together, but...

But it still embarrassed him that he couldn't be the sort of man that could do this right.

He sighed, rubbing his head as he sat down on the couch of the Pokémon Center room. There was a big one pressed against the wall that would unfold into a bed, like all the other rooms throughout the region, as well as a window that pointed towards the river. The rest of the room consisted of a set of drawers for his stuff, a table, and a sealed off bathroom. That was all that they had, but it was enough.

Azalea sat down on the couch beside him, gently taking his arm and rubbing it the way that she always did. He sighed, rubbing his forehead with his other arm.

"You don't have to do that."

"I know."

"It's not...I'm sorry I'm scared."

"It means that you want me to be safe. I understand."

"I wish you didn't have to."

"I wish that, too, but I do understand, nevertheless."

He sighed, looking across the room. Like most of the different quarters that the center offered, this one had a mirror across the way. His brown fur, dark mane, wide eyes were all familiar to him, but they still looked so...so normal, so person-like, compared to the vibrant colors of the Gardevoir beside him. Azalea had always been the more beautiful of the two of them, and he shook his head.

The little twitch at his waist reminded him of their latest catch, and he slowly pulled the ball off his belt. Azalea looked down at it with him, cocking her head to the side.

"Was he doing that before?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"He's...stronger than we thought."

"A lot stronger."

"Are you sure this is a good idea? We could just put him back."

"I don't think we can."

And he didn't think that it would be a good idea, either. Mewtwo, according to the ruins on Cinnabar, was the most powerful Pokémon to ever be created, one of those anomalies that had every reason to be vengeful towards those that didn't have leverage over him. He would hunt them down if he was just released.

Barret had wanted to test himself against the Psychic for a long time, and had chased Mewtwo down on the idea that it would be a good idea to take him out of circulation. If he was a wild Pokémon, then it would only be a matter of time before Mewtwo got the idea to start preying on those that had abused him, trying to take revenge.

If they could take him in, however, give him a reason to learn to be good once more...

To show him that there were good people in the world...

It was a risk, for sure. There was no getting around that, and Azalea had every right to be concerned, but this was the only thing that he could think to do. The two of them had been good for each other, with her slowly bringing him out of his shell, and him giving her someone to attach to and love. This was something that they could offer.

Hopefully, it wouldn't backfire.

"Ready?" he asked.

"I don't think I can contain him if something goes wrong."

"Just...keep watching me. Snap me out of it if he starts trying to control me."

"I'll do my best, Barret."

They squeezed each other's hands, and then he tossed the ball to the floor.

It grew and expelled the Pokémon within. White light filled the room, shining hot and painful, and it threw shadows everywhere for a second or two. Gradually, it pulled back until the light formed into a more solid shape. Hard head, two small horns, a tube that stuck out the back. The body continued to take shape, with slender arms and long legs and paws, a bulbous lower body and a narrower torso.

Mewtwo. The most powerful Psychic Pokémon to ever exist.

The light faded, leaving a purple-pink sort of thing in the middle of the room. The aura that followed hit Barret like a slap to the face as Mewtwo extended his senses, and the horse gasped for breath as his was stolen right out of his lungs. Azalea pressed her arm against him, shielding him as best she could with her powers, but it was still a blow.

Mewtwo opened his eyes, and then slowly smiled.

"...Master..."

There was almost a note of sarcasm behind the word, but it was still said. The Psychic type crossed his arms, looking down at the horse, and Barret shook his head as he felt the probing tendrils of power against his head.

"Stop it," he muttered.

"Why?" the Mewtwo asked. "Because you managed to stuff me into a little ball?"

"And...and I can put you back," Barret said, gritting his teeth. Mewtwo was far stronger than he had anticipated; even with Azalea's help, he was barely managing to keep those tendrils from sinking further into his head and controlling him. He couldn't do anything about stopping Mewtwo from reading his thoughts. "If you want to stay out of the ball...you and I...and Azalea...need to come to an arrangement."

"Hmmm...I see that you wish to...tame me."

"I want you to be better."

"No. You want to TAME me."

And as Mewtwo said that, a barrage of images followed, images that were forced right into his brain like a needle being jabbed into the middle of his skull. They bypassed Azalea's touch completely, and went right into his imagination.

He saw himself, saw himself standing over Mewtwo while the Psychic was down on all fours. He saw himself naked, his cock hard, throbbing the way that it did when his Gardevoir was bending over and showing off for him.

He saw himself taking that thick, throbbing cock and pushing it right into Mewtwo's ass, saw himself fucking the Psychic with all the fury and power that he had reserved for the worst of his times, when he was at his most desperate and Azalea was at her most needy. He saw himself...

He saw himself using Mewtwo's power, dominating the Pokémon so thoroughly that he had power over the Psychic's abilities, using it to call Azalea in and -

"Nnngh!"

Barret flinched back from the images, covering his face with his hands. His Gardevoir tried to help him, to cover him, but he waved her away. The sheer intensity of those images...they...

"Do you see what I see, trainer?" Mewtwo asked.

"How...what..." Barret groaned. "Those...those weren't..."

"They aren't impossible."

"..."

"Barret," Azalea whispered, gently rubbing his arm before getting to her feet and standing between him and Mewtwo. "What did you do to him?" she asked.

"Nothing that he did not enjoy."

"You hurt him. You shoved something into his head."

"Heh...you do not know your...trainer. Or you don't wish to."

The horse's cheeks burned as he continued to try and scrub those images out of his own head. They were so powerful, so much stronger than anything that he had ever encountered before, and he didn't know how they had been found. He hadn't...no, that was a lie. There had been fantasies, once, when he was younger, when he was a teen, of having that sort of power over others.

But that was a long time ago. There was no way...

"I believe I should talk to your trainer, alone."

"That isn't going to happen," Azalea muttered.

"Do you think that you can stop me?"

"I can try."

"You won't win."

"I can make enough noise that the rest of the Pokémon Center notices," she said, shaking her head. "And then what happens? Will you try and control all of them?"

"I could."

And that was the most chilling part. Both Barret and Azalea knew that they were dealing with a power that could take control of the entire city, if it really wanted to. The horse groaned as he sat up properly, no longer bent over and holding his head.

"I can...I can do this," he said. Azalea whipped around, her white dress flaring up, and he shook his head. "I can. I promise. And I'll let you out as soon as he starts making trouble."

"...I don't like this, Barret. We're making a mistake."

"We have to try."

She hesitated, then leaned in, kissing him. He kissed her back, and she tapped the ball at his waist, sliding back inside. As soon as the white and red energies faded, Mewtwo shook his head.

"Pathetic."

"Watch it..."

"Ah, so you do have a little fire."

"She's my partner. I care about her. And -"

"Yes, yes, you are willing to care about me, as well." Mewtwo shook his head. "It's laughable that you keep lying to yourself about what you really want."

"That was a fantasy. Not reality."

"It could be."

"No, it couldn't. I'm not one of you."

Mewtwo's narrow mouth slowly split in a smile. Once more, Barret felt the tug of the Psychic's power against his mind, pulling at the sides of his head, almost like there was something sliding down into his ears and through his eyes towards his mind. He closed his eyes, but it did no good. Little, invisible fingers with pressure that he only thought he felt started rubbing through his skull, almost like they were fondling his thoughts.

"The thoughts I showed you were not mine, trainer. You...wanted that. I could feel it. Just as you wanted more than you have with your partner."

"Get out of my head...get out..."

"If you want to 'tame' me, then you will have to do it my way. On my terms."

"I captured you."

"Yes, unexpectedly...but perhaps, we can both make the best of it."

Mewtwo didn't walk, but rather floated towards the window. His arms were still crossed around his chest, and Barret cocked his head to the side. So far, that pose had been the one that Mewtwo had kept, and not just in this room. It had been that way back in the cave, as well, almost like the Pokémon was constantly shielding himself from something.

It was a strange sort of realization, and struck at a sympathetic cord in him.

However, the silence didn't last long, nor did the sympathy. Mewtwo turned back to him, smirking.

"I will stay with you, but we are doing this my way."

"I could just shove you back in the ball."

"Yes, but for how long? And how furious do you think that will make me, being locked in a cage?"

"Other...other Pokémon don't mind..."

"Yes, but they are weak. Mentally inept. They can't hold out against the training that the balls force on those inside. They slowly become your pets. I...will not. I will remain myself. And you know what that means. I can see it in your mind that you know what that means."

Yes. It'd be like carrying a Psychic nuclear bomb in his pocket, and the moment that it went off, it would fry the minds of everyone in a hundred-foot radius, if not further. An entire city could be taken down by the fury of Mewtwo finally escaping a prison like that, and it would be a prison if Barret never let him out.

Dammit. He had less bargaining power than he thought.

"...What are your terms?" he asked.

"We train. You and I will engage in little...practice rounds, in the arena of the mind. I will restrain some of my power, and you will come at me with everything that you have. If you win, you will grow stronger. If you lose, then I will give you...pointers. Attention. Allow you to learn how to be a better trainer."

"...Why?"

"Because I am tired of the fighting in the 'real' world. There is nothing to challenge me here. And if I am to be 'tamed' by someone, then I wish to make sure that the trainer doing it is good enough to actually do the job right."

"You're going to change me."

"Only if you lose. And besides...You cannot tell me that you aren't curious."

Barret gritted his teeth. He didn't like the way that this was going, but he knew that there was little in the way of options. And...

And he wanted to make things better. He wanted Mewtwo to be able to recover, to be someone good again. He had done so much for Azalea, and she had done so much for him. They'd both become better in one another's company, and he'd felt that, maybe, he could offer some of that to Mewtwo.

The fact that this was turning more sexual than he had anticipated was not what he had imagined, but...well, he could run with that. As long as no-one found out, he could go with something like that.

"Alright."

"You agree?"

"For now."

"Then let us begin."

The fingers that had been probing around the edges of his mind suddenly tightened, and Barret yelped as he was yanked right out of his own skull.

_Darkness, then purple light. It spread around him like fire on oil, spreading through the room until it covered every little nook and cranny. He felt like he was floating in the strange purple energy, except that he wasn't. He was standing on it, but with none of the stress that came from standing normally. Stress that he hadn't even noticed until it wasn't there anymore.

The horse dizzied himself with the realization, trying to pull his head back together, but that was easier said than done. He felt like he was disconnected, out of sorts, and -

And he didn't have hands.

Or arms.

Or anything, really. No body, no head, nothing but an awareness of himself._

Before he could start panicking, Mewtwo appeared before him, more as a silhouette than as anything else. The Psychic chuckled.

"You are going to be a fun one, aren't you?"

"What's going on? Where are we?"

"Inside my mind," Mewtwo said.

"What?! How?"

"I'm the most powerful Psychic in the world. Do you think that something like this would be beyond my reach?"

"Well...no, but..."

"Besides, I think you will find it more interesting here. But first..."

Suddenly, the purple field split, and he realized that Mewtwo had opened his eyes. They were able to see the room that they had just left, and he could see his body. It was frozen? No, no, the world was frozen. Time stood still outside of Mewtwo's mind, the pair of them acting faster than thought in the Psychic's head.

"What...why are you showing me this?" Barret asked, shaking his head.

"This...is something that you can win," Mewtwo said. "The chance to look through my eyes, and affect the world the way that you want. Of course, if you want that, you'll have to win...and I don't know if you can. Yet."

"...What do you mean, affect the world -"

"You want to do things to your Gardevoir."

"..."

"You've already done some," Mewtwo said, "but those fantasies of yours are no longer hidden. I see them. I know them. I know what you wanted to do when you first got together. You wanted to put a collar around her neck and make her call you master while you forced your cock right down her throat."

"Shut up."

"You cannot hide your thoughts from me. Perhaps this Azalea might have avoided such thoughts out of kindness, but only that. She could have found them. If she could, then you have no hope of hiding your true self from me."

Barret gritted his teeth, looking away from the open eyes. They closed, and the world outside faded, the purple light becoming all-consuming again. He would have leaned against the wall if he had a body capable of leaning, or if there had been a wall there to lean on. The whole place was disorienting like that.

Mewtwo floated up behind him, leaning in and whispering.

"Someone capable of taming me has to be stronger than you are."

"I don't want to tame people. Or Pokémon. Not like that."

"You're lying."

"..."

"Heh...are you afraid of being judged? So terrified of that?"

"You tell me."

"I could, but you would call me a liar, even if I told the truth."

"...Just...let's train. Let's just train."

"As you wish."

_The 'fight', if one could call it that, was as short and brief as one could have imagined. Despite Mewtwo 'restraining' himself, as the Pokémon had said he would, the push of concept against concept, of will against will, had been as one-sided as a Caterpie trying to fend off a Fearow. He was pushed back, back, back, until what little sense of self he had left was pushed right into the fiery purple light that filled the air around them.

It acted almost like some kind of binding chain, holding him in place as Mewtwo approached. For all that he had tried to fight and muster what willpower he had, Barret had barely managed to force a silhouette around himself, give himself a shape to work with. He wondered if, perhaps, such solidity was a disadvantage in this mind._

"Not the worst that I have seen, but far from a trainer that I could serve," Mewtwo said, shaking his head. "You will need to be much stronger for this."

"Mmmph...I'm trying to train against you...how the hell could I win?"

"By having the willpower that I will give you."

Mewtwo raised his three-fingered hand, pressing it against the horse's forehead. He stiffened, arching his back as the pressure against his mind grew. His eyes almost bugged out of their sockets as he felt the Pokémon rooting through him, and then pulling him closer.

For a moment, they were as one. His shyness, Mewtwo's arrogance. His affection, Mewtwo's domination. His compassion, Mewtwo's -

And then it clashed together, hard, almost like someone slamming two rocks together. Different shards came free, and he felt something new sticking to him, something 'purple' for lack of a better word hanging onto what he was. He could feel it digging in, worming through him, filling his head with something...

Something new.

Something harder.

"Nnngh...what...what did you..."

"Remember our agreement, trainer."

"What...you..."

"I told you. I will give you pointers. And you will sort them out."

"But...but what did you..."

"You will understand. And now...it's time for you to go back."

Barret felt the push, this time, and he felt it sending him right back through the dark. Mewtwo opened his eyes, and it almost felt like he was flung out through them, into the real world and back to his body.

The horse opened his eyes with a gasp and a cough, shuddering from head to toe as he felt his weight again. The concept of body and space and weight and stress and pure physicality came back, and he shivered as he realized that he had to breathe again. Yes, breathing was a thing, and he had forgotten what it was like when it was only a concept in his head rather than a real need.

As he forced himself to do that, Mewtwo chuckled from across the room. That chuckle...that chuckle struck a cord in him, and he glared.

"Do you think that's funny?" he muttered.

"I think that you will be learning a great many things in the coming days."

"Get the hell back in the ball."

"Is that a command?"

"BACK IN THE BALL!"

He shouted, and that in and of itself was different for him. He didn't do that. He didn't scream at people or at Pokémon, but in this case, it wasn't even just anger that pushed him to do that. It was...

It was something new.

Something harder in him.

Mewtwo looked him in the eye, slowly smiling again, and nodded. The Master Ball floated up from the ground, and tapped the Pokémon on the forehead, taking him away.

Barret slumped back against the couch again, holding his hands against his head. He felt like he'd been slamming his head against the wall for the past half hour, but at the same time, it almost felt like no time had passed. He glanced at a clock across the room, and he realized that was truer than he realized. No time had passed. He and Mewtwo had been training for no time at all in the real world.

What was going on? More to the point, what had been done to him?

He didn't know, and it didn't feel good. Shouting at someone made him feel like one of the assholes that he had seen on the road, the trainers that were cruel to their Pokémon, or the people that were cruel to each other. Shouting never got things done. It just scared people into doing the things that they should be doing anyway.

And yet, Mewtwo had smiled when he did it.

Why? What does he know? What does he want?

He didn't know. Perhaps Azalea -

He flinched back from that thought. Normally, he would have been eager to pull her out and have her look through his head. Every time that they had encountered something like a Kadabra or a ghost or another Psychic, it had become natural for her to do a quick first-aid check-up on his mind, make sure that nothing had gone wrong or been displaced. Yet...this time, he worried about what she'd find.

He worried about what she'd see.

I'm not like that. I was a kid then, a teenager. I didn't want to do that. Not really. Not once I realized...

Barret groaned, feeling the same anger that he had felt towards Mewtwo being directed back at himself. If only he'd managed to forget those things for real. If only they hadn't been there when Mewtwo started rooting through his head.

Because one thing was for sure. Mewtwo hadn't been lying. There was a part of him that had wanted that, and still did.

Taking a deep breath, the horse got up from the couch and walked to the window, looking down at the river. He wished that he could throw all those bad thoughts out of his head and into the water. More than anything, he wished that he could just take that affectionate, compassionate bit of him and make that the strongest part of his psyche. After all, that part of him was a good person, a good man. The part that Mewtwo was waking up, the part that wanted to take things further, that wanted to have that power over minds and bodies...

He felt his cock starting to throb, and he shivered as he glared down at the crotch of his pants.

"No. No. We're not doing that."

Throb, throb, went his cock, almost like it was arguing with him.

"No."

Throb.

"Stupid..."

Knowing that he was going to regret this, he reached for his belt and pulled his partner's ball from it. He grew it, tossing it to the floor. Azalea appeared, flowing over to him before she even took full form, and she had him in her arms shortly after.

"I don't know what he did, but I could feel it through the ball. What happened? What happened, Barret?"

Master, he thought, and he was shocked at the 'correction' that his thoughts tried to pull. He closed his eyes tightly, shaking his head.

"He...he made a deal."

"What kind of deal?"

"He wants me to be...rougher. Stronger. Tougher." The horse shook his head. "He said that he can't give in to me like I am, so he's going to try and...train me."

"Oh, Barret. I'm sorry. I told you." She shook her head, burying his head against her shoulder. "I told you this was a mistake."

Again, the anger, but muted against the care that she had for him. Not so strong, not wanting to lash out...but still wanting to teach her a lesson for questioning him. It was free, something that he had pushed down so long ago, now unleashed. He groaned at the sheer effort that it took to push it down.

"Be with me?" he whispered.

"Of course."

"In bed?"

"Of course. Come to me...come with me..."

She guided him to bed, and he desperately lost himself in her embrace, trying - and almost succeeding - to forget about Mewtwo and what was being done to him as he and Azalea went at it. It also kept her from looking too deep and finding what Mewtwo had stirred up.
