#1 of Hugs and Snugs

Aiden knew as soon as he saw the empty bed, the prince must be on the observation deck. Sighing, the greyhound padded down to the observation deck, pulling the robe tighter around his lithe frame.

Aiden knew the prince was heading out to wild lands to keep him safe, least negation break down with the neighboring countries. However, it did not mean the pooch enjoyed freezing his pubescent ass off. The hound was just glad they were going by airship and not carriage; otherwise the trip would have taken months to traverse the tundra.

As his paws silently traversed the wooden hallway, his mind kept turning back to the issue that had troubled his mind for the past month. It disturbed him greatly yet he could not share it, especially not with his only friend.

Reaching the observation deck, the pup paused as he gazed at the prince. Before Aiden could open his muzzle, Felix spoke "I know pooch, I should be in bed." Turning around, the white velvet nightshirt swishing around the noble boy's ankles silently.

The warm smile lit the pale pink face. "I just needed space to think Aiden." Prince Felix said, his emerald eyes gazing into Aiden's amber orbs.

Seeing his friend look away, tail curled, ears flat, made the human sigh. "Aiden, let us go to my room, there is something we need to discuss." Seeing quick flash of fear on the hound's face, the prince knew his suspicions were correct.

Walking swiftly back, Aiden's mind was frantic, wondering how much the noble knew, if he actually knew, and what would his best friend do to him about it. So lost in thought was he, he didn't realize he was in the bedroom until he heard Felix set the deadbolt.

A locked door held special meaning for the boys. Long ago, they agreed, when the door was locked, it meant they were to tell the truth, a time when they could forgo the nonsense of the royal court and just be themselves.

"How long?" Asked the prince. "How long have you lusted for me?"

Aiden's heart stopped as he gasped. Looking into his best friend's face, amber eyes full of fear and dread, a lie sprang to his lips, a denial but, bound he was by the promise of truth, he whimpered out "A couple months. How did-"

"How did I know?" Finished Felix with a relieved smile. "It takes one to know one."

"Wait, you mean-" the greyhound asked, eyes wide with disbelief, cut off midsentence by his friend's lips kissing his.

Mint, that was the noble's lips tasted like to Aiden, just like the mint tea Felix loved so much. With pent up want, Aiden kissed back, letting himself go, savoring the moment.

With much displeasure, Aiden broke the kiss, panting as he said "But seriously, how did you know I...I liked you?"

"When you looked at me, you seemed sad. I thought it was because I did something wrong." Felix said softly. "But when I accepted I felt for you like I am suppose to feel for girls, I understood. I understood the sadness, of how I could tell nobody."

Holding Aiden's paw in his warm hands, the prince explained "And when I knew, I had to think, for what if I was wrong? What if it was something else and I lost you as a friend? I am sorry for letting us drift apart, I am sorry for not talking to you earlier." Felix said in a whisper.

"No." Aiden said, squeezing his best friend's hand. "I am sorry, for not trusting you, to even think that you would cast me aside."

With a smile, Felix knew he and Aiden would from here on out, be more then friends.
