The 3 Yoshis had huge grins on their faces, yet they were unaware of what Jason had in mind. He starts running towards them. The Yoshis laughed. "Of course...I'd never forget." Jason answered.

Jason got to his feet, shook himself off, then called Meiko over to help them out. They followed Jason over to the sacred hot spring which was mere footsteps away from the village. Meiko never saw this place before. The chief granted Jason permission to use the spring when needed. Often, only the chief gets to bathe in it. The 3 Yoshis never had the chance to bathe in the springs, until now.

Jason strips down completely, and smiles. "The chief granted me permission to have a little more fun before I start training. I did promise you that you guys'll have yer fill with me. Well.....shall we?"

"Yeah. Only the chief and trusted guests may enter here." Said Roshi.

"Yer very lucky. The chief trusts you with his entire tribe. You should feel grateful." Said Loshi.

Jason lifted his head slightly, and smiled. "You don't know how grateful am. I'm also grateful to have you guys as my trusted friends."

Everyone smiled at him, touched by his words, they nodded. Loshi thought of an idea. "You owe us some pleasure, and its payback time for your little prank."

Jason was about to swim away, but Wagshi and Roshi grabbed his arms and legs. "Save your strength. You might like what we're gonna do to you, if you cooperate that is." Wagshi had a mischievious grin on his face.

Jason leaned back again, but with no more interruptions. Meiko cradled him to make him more comfortable. The 3 Yoshis rested by the wall of the giant tub, with their backs against it. Their feet were reclined, and their hands behind their heads to make a pillow. Meiko just sat comfortably, and watched the napping human. He felt he looked so adorable when he was sleeping.

After a half hour past, the 5 friends hear a voice in the entrance, it was the chief. "Are you having fun in there? You better not be making a mess. It's time for your training."

Jason immediately wakes up, fully alert. The Yoshis jump in shock as they heard the voice of the chief. "Just give us a few minutes, we'll be right there." Meiko replied.

Meiko took Jason in his arms, and carried him to the ledge. Jason got out, and helped Meiko pull himself out. The 3 Yoshis followed suite. Jason threw each of them a towel, but realized there were only 4. Meiko smiled and opened his arms, beckoning Jason to join him. Jason joined him, and Meiko closed the towel around him. They were both wrapped together, all cuddled up. The orca dried all the suds off the human before he cleaned himself last. They all got dressed, and returned to the village, filling refreshed and renewed.

The chief awaited them. All the tribesmen were waiting too. Once Jason looked at the markings on the ground, he knew what he was stepping into; a duel ring. The chief was prepared for a fight; he had markings on his face, and body. He also had his staff too, but in his other hand was a fighting stick. Jason looked at the chief, and shook his head in disapproval. "If you are asking me to fight you, I will refuse."

"Why is that child? Do I look old and helpless? No, I am ordering you to fight me in honorable combat." The chief demanded.

Jason refused again. The chief threw the fighting stick at Jason, he catches it. Within just a few seconds, the chief threw a fireball large enough to incinerate Jason, and his 4 friends that stood behind him. They all gasped in fear. Jason formed a protective barrier around him and his friends to block the fireball. "Your friends cannot fight this battle for you Jason!! Either you fight me, and defeat me with honor, or turn back and leave your friends in shame!! I know all your secrets human!! In your world, you believe are inferior to everyone around you!! You are a disgrace to your family!! You will die by the age of 30 of a broken heart, and wasted life!! You have nothing to live for, to fight for, or to hope for!! You are a saddened, frightened, and weak child!!" The chief said to the human in a voice so furious, it scared everyone.

Jason's heart started pounding. The chief was reading his mind. Everyone knew his dark secrets. He saw everyone looking at him; their faces were expressionless. But when he looked at Meiko and the 3 Yoshis. He saw saddened faces, eyes filled with sympathy. Jason fell to his knees, as if he was already defeated. He burst out crying. He never felt so embarressed in his entire life.

Meiko clenched his fists, and stood in front of Jason. His eyes filled with anger. "This is gone on long enough!!" He points at the chief. "You've gone too far!! If you wanna fight!? I'll fight you instead!!"

Jason suddenly stopped crying. He looked up at Meiko in astonishment. "Meiko!? What are you doing!?"

Meiko charged at the chief, he was ready to throw his strongest punch. The chief smiled, and didn't flinch. Just when Meikos fist was heading straight between the chiefs eyes, the chief threw back his weight, then rammed the orca with his obese belly. He went flying, then crashed to the ground on his back. Meiko was stunned, he got up slowly.

"You, and all my tribe fight like children!! If no one can lay a finger me, I doubt you can do any better human!!" The chief snapped.

Jason got fed up. He got back to his feet, this time in a fighting stance. "Are you done barking chief!? I think its time I prove you wrong!! Wagshi! Take Meiko out of the ring, I'll show the chief not to mess with me, or my friends!!"

"Then have at me boy!! Show me what you really are!!" The chief bellowed.

Jason smiled. Everyone, except the chief was shocked by his fearless expression. "Oh I'll show you. I'll give you a fight to remember."

"Then hear this: In order to win, one must battle til either side yields, is knocked out of the ring, or is clearly unable to fight." Said the chief.

So the duel began. The chief readied another fireball, then threw it. Jason froze the fireball to solid ice, then threw it back. The chief fired a lightning bolt from his staff. The ice ball shattered to pieces of diamond dust. The chief couldn't see ahead of him. He fired a few more bolts. Jason appeared through the obscuring mist, running towards the chief. The chief fired another bolt, but Jason jumped. While he was still in the air, he started spinning, then he made a flying roundhouse kick, and struck the chief directly in the face. The chief spun and staggered, losing his balance, he fell backwards and hit the ground. His staff slipped out of his grip.

Jason stood proudly, still smiling. "You can still withdraw. Am I too much of a challenge?"

The crowd cheers as they see their chief get struck down for the 1st time. Meiko and the 3 Yoshis smiled. They were also cheering. The chief growled, and got up, and picked up his staff. "Don't get cocky boy!!"

The chief started flipping his staff in circles. A gust of wind blew in Jasons direction, it formed a sandstorm. Jason couldn't see a thing, the sand was getting in his eyes. He put a hand over to cover them. A lightning bolt struck him from behind. He fell forwards. He thought to himself. How could he be behind me so fast? Another bolt hit him on the left. He was knocked down, dazed. Is he still reading my thoughts? Wait! Thats it!! Jason cleared his mind, shut his eyes, and focused. Another bolt was coming directly in front of him. He tumbled out of the way. His body started shimmering. His brown hair turned pure white. He grew wings. He transformed into an angel.

The chief lost track of the angel's mind. The chief's expression turned to fear. What!? I can't reach him!? No! He could not-

"Oh yes I did!!" Jason called to the chief. He flapped his wings quickly. The dust faded in seconds, yet it was pushing the chief back, nearly off his feet.

All the tribesman gasped as they marveled at Jason in his celestial form. Jason stared down at the chief. "You wanted to fight me, right? You got it!!"

Jason's hands shimmered, he beckoned the chief to come at him. The chief shook his head, turned his expression back into an angered face. He charged in without thought. Jason stood his ground and kept on defense. The chief readied his staff to swing overhead. Jason blocked it. The clash made sparks as it clashed. They held on, pushing against each other. Jason's weapon starting crackling, it was going to break. The weapon snapped. Jason jumped back, just avoiding another swing. The chief was gonna swing again. Jason kicked the staff, it slipped out of the chiefs hands, flying out of bounds. Now it was a battle with martial arts.

"Even without my staff, you still can't win!" The chief yelled. He readied his fists.

Jason chucked the broken and did the same. Both fighters throw punches and kicks. All were blocked or dodged. They were evenly matched. Or were they?....

Jason throw a punch, the chief caught it, the the angel threw a kick, he also grabbed it. Jason was teetering, held against his momentum. The chief lifted the angel over his head, he was going to toss him out of bounds. Jason struggled to slip free. The chief had incredible strength for someone his stature. Jason's hands clasped on the chief face. The light flowing into his head was putting him into a state of vertigo. The chief felt his limbs were losing strength. He dropped to 1 knee, then 2. Jason swung himself free, and flipped back on his feet. The chief was stunned, he could barely see straight.

With 1 final blow, Jason readied a glowing fist, and uppercutted the chief square in jaw. He flew a couple feet, flipping as he went. He crashed on the ground hard. The tribe looked in suprise. The chief was defeated, and knocked out of the ring. Jason returned back into his human form, panting.

"Chief!? Can you hear me!?" Jason flipped the chief on his back.

"Well...done... child... You have bested me.... I never....should have judged you." The chief was smiling.

Jason helped the chief to his feet, and brought him to his throne. The crowd cheered happily, as Jason stood victorious. "He did it! He won!!" Loshi cheered.

Jason smiled as everyone looked at him with smiles on the faces. He felt proud, and grateful. Meiko ran to him, and lifted him high. "I knew you could do it." Meiko smiled.

"Not without you or my friends." Jason smiled back.

The chief raised his hands. The crowd quiets down. "You have past the test child. Now you may begin your quest to save all life."

The chief called over the blacksmith. He carried a weapon that was meant for Jason. A double mace fighting staff, forged to be indestructible, and enscribed with holy runes. He handed it to Jason. "This is a gift from all of my tribe. Use it to strike down evil, and Mephistophales."

"I will, and thank you all for your support." Jason said.

"One more thing child.....I am terribly sorry for my foul outburst. I never should have said those things."

Jason hugged the chief. "There is no need to apologize. Mephistophales would no doubt mess with my head as well. I'll consider this a warning for when he strikes."

The chief hugged back and smiled in relief. "As you say child."

"Anyway...its time for me to go." Jason was about to turn around and leave, but Meiko stopped him.

"You can't be serious! You are NOT going out there alone!" Meiko looked at him as if he was insane.

"I'm sorry. None of you were trained to fight what I faced in my years as a cleric. You would only get yourself killed! I can't allow that!" Jason scolded.

"Jason, we're your friends! Wherever you go, we go!" Wagshi jumped in.

"Yeah, we are not defenseless! We know this land! You don't!" Said Roshi.

"This land has denizens that are dangerous. We fought them! We HAVE encountered minions that were spawned from the devil! Let us travel with you!!" Loshi exclaimed.

The chief stepped in. "I agree with your friends child. You would have better chances if you traveled with a group. You cannot face Mephistophales by yourself! You barely survived your last encounter!"

Jason finally agreed. "Alright. In truth I didn't wanna say good bye to any of you. Also, the chief has a point, I was nearly killed in that storm, trying to get here. You may travel with me, but you must be vigilant at all times!"

Meiko calmed down. "Good. I didn't make a vow to protect you for nothing you know."

Jason and his friends gathered their equipment. The smith provided Meiko with 2 twin longswords to fight. Wagshi got his greatsword, Loshi grabbed his sword and shield, and Roshi gathered his bow, quiver and arrows, and 2 shortswords. The alchemist gave each person plenty of healing potions. The cooks gave rations and water cateens.

The 5 adventurers stood outside the gates. The chief came to them one last time. "Farewell my children. We will pray that you succeed, and return home safely."

"Farewell chief, and all of you! I promise you that I will save both tribes!" Said Jason. They waved good bye, and set off.

The team was traveled to beach, and Jason stopped. He gazed at the blue ocean waters one last time before he continued forward. However, they were forced to a halt when 10 humans approached them. Jason felt a dark aura surrounding them. They were not a friendly bunch.

The leader stepped forward "Well, well, well......What have we here? A bunch of rookies out for a stroll?"

"Back off! We don't want any trouble!" Meiko scolded.

"Oh? Whaddya gonna do bout it!? You think you can take us on!? HAH!!" The leader snickered.

Jason drew his mace staff, and fired a light orb, and struck an unsuspecting bandit. He screamed as he fell down, his body caught in a holy fire. The skin melted away, revealing a hell spawn. The screaming stopped as the body burned to ashes. "Demons!! You were sent by Mephistophales!!"

The leader went berzerk. "And he wants you dead you blasted celestial!! KILL THEM ALL!!

The bandits skins melted. The demons revealed themselves, and surrounded the adventurers. It was 5 vs. 9. Odds that were against Jason and his friends. The team stood back to back, weapons drawn. The leader ordered his minions to charge, but a cold icy blast came down against 3 other minions. They were frozen solid. Everyone looked up. There was a young 7 foot tall water dragon in blue scales flying into the fray. He swung his 3 bladed trident as he flew past with amazing speed. The frozen monsters shattered to pieces. Now the odds were even. But why did the dragon aid Jason?

The dragon landed next to Jason, readied his weapon, and looked at the confused human. "I'll explain later, but we've got a fight to win. Come on!!"

Roshi fired an arrow, which hit a minion straight in the head. He fell down...dead. Wagshi charged for the demon facing him. They clashed blades with blades, until he finally beheaded his enemy. Another minion charged towards Loshi. The blue yoshi threw his buckler at his opponent, staggering him. Before the hellspawn could recover, Loshi's sword went striaght for its heart, killing it. Meiko clashed with another demon. Both swinging swords quickly like a sword dance. He deflect every swing, then disarmed his attacker, and finally cleaved the demon by dismemberment from head to toe. The dragon spat a cold liquid into his incoming attacker. Its face was frozen over. With a mighty thrust, the dragons opponent was impaled deep.

Now, only Jason and the leader remained. The human cast a flash spell, blinding the leader. Next he swung to the right and left, bashing his ribs. The leader collapsed, now it the mercy of the human. The leader beared his teeth in anger. "You may have won this time human, but you will save your loved one!!"

Jason smashed the skull of the demon leader, killing him. The bodies began to disintigrate, then decompose to a pile of ash. The fight was over. The dragon put his weapon away, and made a friendly smile. The others sheathed their weapons too.

"Very impressive. Looks like I finally found you." Said the dragon.

"I thank you for you timely rescue, but who are you anyway? And why were you looking for me?" Asked Jason.

"Sorry about that. I'm Ridley, Ridley Wavewing, a member of the Elemental Dragon Tribes. My leader knew you would come, and he has tasked me to find you, and aid in your quest to defeat the evil that threatens all life."

Jason looked at him with awe. "Dragon Tribe? Wow! I'm Jason. A pleasure to meet you. As you may know, I come from another world." He offered his hand.

Ridley gladly shook it firmly. His clawed hand was cold to the touch, but it only made Jason shake slightly in surprise. Ridley was a blue water dragon. He blue scales, blue eyes, 2 stright horns protruding on his head. He was at least 7 feet tall, the same height as Meiko. He bore a muscular physique, and a long tail with 2 side fins. He also had 2 dorsal fins on his back.

Jason turned to his friends. "These are my companions." They all walked closer to greet Ridley. They all shook hands with him, and introduced themselves.

Meiko was curious. "So you know about the evil that endangers all life? How is your tribe affected?"

Ridley looked at Meiko and spoke. "My people are being hunted down by him. We aren't safe even in our homes. Since we are dragons, Mephistophales tries to corrupt my kind into evil dragons, making them serve him. Those who resist either die, get scattered, or our minds get broken into madness. He killed my brother Radden, as he tried protecting us all. Like most of the tribes, our numbers continue to drop."

"No.....How dare he...." Jason shook his head in disgust.

Ridley nodded. "That is why I came here. I need your help Jason. Please let me join you."

Jason smiled at Ridley. "I was about to ask you the same request. I personally could use use all the help I can get. I accept your offer with full confidence."

Ridley smiled happily. "Thank you so much. I promise I won't let you or your friends down."

Jason looked back to his friends. They all smiled and nodded in approval. Night was starting to set in. It was getting late.

"Come with me, I know a place will we can make shelter for tonight." Ridley beckoned. Jason and the others agreed, and followed. After 2 hours of traveling, the team stops. They see a crystal cave to the west, and the Snowback Mountains in the east. Ridley points to the top of the mountain. It was clouded in black smoke, an evil was resting up there.

Jason felt that he had to go there, but he didn't know why. Ridley looked at Jason. "You sense it too, don't you?" Asked Ridley.

"Yes I do. But I also feel that something or someone is calling at to me, like its calling for help." Said Jason.

"I understand how you feel, but it is too dangerous to climb the Snowback Mountains. And we must all retire for the night. We can discuss our next move in the morning." Said Ridley.

"You're right. I am rather exhausted from all the fighting and travelling." Said Jason.

Ridley went in the cave, the Yoshis followed behind, then so did Meiko. Jason looked at the mountain peak one last time. Just hold on a little longer...please.
