#1 of Foresight

I needed to get a quick commission done for Myre this past week, because he'd been very patient and understanding over Hurricane Sandy's effects on my mental well-being. =P We discussed the storyline for a bit beforehand, so I honestly can't take all the credit for writing this. His idea was ingenious, and I couldn't wait to flesh it out. ^^

A shaman, prehistoric saber-toothed tiger is about to have a little visitor, thanks in part to a magic spell that doesn't quite go as he thought. As much as we want to have foresight, we have to remember that it's nearly impossible to prepare for the future. Sometimes we just have to run with it.

A story of ritual and romance across a very, very, very long distance, and an ending that I hope will make you say, "Awwwwww!" <3 <3 <3

The tan and brown-spotted saber-toothed tiger made his way carefully and quietly through the dense trees, holding an ivory-tipped spear in his large paws, listening every so often to the loud roars of the carnivorous creatures that shared his home, as they went on their night-time excursions for sustenance.

He did not so much fear the great lizards as he did respect them. Myre knew he was in no real danger here in the small valley. Even for his muscular size, over seven feet tall and broad-shouldered, he was merely more than a small morsel to them and hardly worth the chase when slower, much larger creatures were in abundance throughout the forest. If push came to shove, however, the cat could always cast a cloaking spell and escape unnoticed.

Still, he kept his pace deliberate and slow as he padded through another section of brush and rocks before arriving at the hot spring. Looking out at the water, the feline instantly felt a sense of peace and tranquility. It was a beautiful and pristine, sparkling clear pond fed by a waterfall etched naturally into stone, and a tumult of froth thundered down into the deep water at the bottom. As the colder water mixed with the much warmer lagoon, steam arose and slowly evaporated in the night air.

Myre smiled and sighed to himself, walking down to the edge of the spring, setting down his spear and removing his belted leather loincloth and sheathed knife before wading naked into the water. When he was comfortably close to the waterfall, he took a deep breath and submerged, opening his eyes in the darkness, the muffled roar of the falls filling his ears.

He loved this place. As the appointed shaman and apothecary for his tribe, it was of the utmost importance to remain at peace, not just with his fellow tigers but with the nature around him. Though some would consider him foolish to take these nearly-nightly expeditions, it was the perfect time for the cat to gather special leaves, wood bark, stones and other materials for spells and incantations.

Myre stayed underwater until the urge for a breath pulled him back to the surface, and he stroked for the edge of the spring, crawling out on all-fours over to his scant clothes. Tonight was indeed special. He rummaged around inside the loincloth until he found a small leather pouch and carefully untied it. Inside were several flakes of black powder, with tiny, crystallized grains of rock mixed within it.

Many suns and moons had passed since he had mentioned to his tribe about the importance of foresight. After an attack on his group, in which several tigers were severely wounded, it had taken all of Myre's power and focus to heal them all. He did not wish for something worse to happen and expressed his feelings to the tribe council. If there were a way to prevent future attacks, he had summarized for them, the tribe would be safer, more secure and able to thrive.

He suggested a spell which would enable them to have better foresight and to know things before they could happen, and began to study the ancient tomes that had been passed on through eons of his ancestry. With the power of the hot springs, the cat was now ready to try his spell.

Myre took a paw-full of the powder from the pouch with him and returned to the water, careful not to let the powder spill, holding it over his head as he kicked hard to the falls. When he was at the proper distance, he growled, said his words as he had learned from the runes, and tossed the powder into the falls.

At once, he shielded his amber eyes against a large flash of bright light that enveloped the cascading water and then the rest of the spring, bathing it in luminous colors of deep blues, purples and reds. When the light faded, he slowly opened his eyes to see if his spell was successful.

Floating on its back in the water was a creature Myre had never seen before, though the smaller, lithe and shapely form suggested feminine. She had full breasts that rose and fell with her breathing, and a subtle churrr could be heard. With her eyes closed, a soft smile on her whiskered face, she looked content and as at peace as Myre often felt.

"Mmm, Templeton..." the creature sighed as she floated, lifting a webbed paw up to get someone's attention. "Iced tea please? I am not ready to leave the pool just yet..."

Getting no answer, the female frowned. "Templeton?" She finally opened her eyes, bright and green, and looked around her. "D-dear?" Then she spotted the large saber-toothed tiger looking at her in stunned silence and shrieked loudly, splashing hard as she righted herself in the water and looked wildly around her.

"Oh my God, where am I?! Help! HELP!"

Myre could not understand what the creature was saying, but knew that the commotion she was making would surely draw unwanted attention soon. He quickly swam towards her while she foundered, grabbed a hold of her legs and started pulling her towards the rocks as she continued to scream.

Once on dry land, he held the creature down while he reached for his spear and pointed it at her menacingly, letting out a load growl of warning.

The action had the effect he had hoped. The strange creature's eyes bulged at the sight of the sharp tip leveled at her, and her loud cries tapered off to soft whimpers.

"What...what do...you...who are you? What is this place?! Where am I?" She curled up into a fetal position and wept silently, keeping her arms over her head.

Myre set the spear down and gently touched the female's arm. Her deep-brown fur was soft but not thick, and rather bristly and short. When he touched her, she let out a strange churrrip! sound, and tried to nestle in more tightly into her body, trembling all over.

The sabertooth sat back, still puzzled over the creature's appearance to his world. He looked back at the water a moment, toward the waterfall. He saw a fading sparkle inside the froth, like a star in the sky fading just before the great sun emerged. Was this his spell? Was this creature a sign of things yet to come? He leaned forward and touched the female again, close to the shoulder, and was surprised to see her head slowly come up to look at him, brilliant green eyes still wet and glistening.

"You...you won't...hurt me, right?" she said, her sleek body starting to uncurl as she got carefully up to her knees, her eyes still darting back and forth around her. She looked at the spear again in fear, and Myre quickly pushed it away.

He had no reason to hurt her. She was less than half his body size, and completely unarmed - and unclothed. For the first time, he realized the creature was in her fur and nothing else, and took a longer look at her. She was nothing like a tigress, though she had the same body type, arms, legs, pert breasts; but her paws and feet were different. The digits of these seemed to be attached to one another by a type of skin. Her face was expressive, and in its own way, again not unlike the lovely tigresses of his tribe. Her muzzle was a bit squashed and it formed wider, fuller cheeks, surrounding a large button-nose and thick twitching whiskers.

The female's expression changed somewhat the longer Myre gazed at her and she crossed her arms to cover her breasts as she started to get to her feet. "Okay, big cat..." she said gently, "I...I won't hurt you either, you know..." She tried a smile, one she usually reserved for myriad cameras, but it came out all wrong, a little grisly, as if she were trying to be happy while sitting on a tack.

Myre watched the female stand up and growled softly, reaching for his spear. Beautiful or not, she was different and a stranger to his world, brought here by indeed his most powerful magic yet. Who knew what she was capable of doing? As he reached, she quickly frowned and sank back down to her knees again, sighing and looking sad.

"Okay. I won't leave. I'm sorry." She slowly uncovered her breasts and tucked her paws between her thighs, trembling. "Do you...know where I am, big cat?" Rolling her eyes, she chuckled, "No of course not. This is a dream, that's it. I must have fallen asleep in the pool. I do that all the time, especially during the afternoon. I just get so bored. Any minute now, Templeton will be jostling me awake for a photo shoot and..." her voice trailed off as she noticed Myre's peculiar expression. "And...you can't understand me at all, can you?"

The sabertooth gruffed softly. The creature certainly was a noisy thing. Her sounds seemed odd, several clicks, hums and a few sharp tocks of her tongue now and then, completely unintelligible. Still, he supposed it would be rude not to respond and so he did.

The woman immediately became afraid again as Myre growled, gruffed and chuffed several times, his way of greeting a new guest, and as he crawled closer to her she started backing away.

Yes, it appeared that communication would be difficult. Instead a new thought struck him. The creature was naked, of that he was sure, and so perhaps an act of kindness would break the ice between them. He growled at the creature to stay where she was, and stood up quickly to his full height, then turned around to pick up his leather loincloth and hand it to her.

"Oh..." she said and offered the big cat a more convincing smile. "Thank you...it's...it's lovely." For the first time, the woman found her eyes drawn to the well-muscled cat. She had read about sabertoothed tigers before, but had always been under the impression they were very much gone from her world.

She was immediately drawn to his eyes, bright amber that almost glittered in the coming darkness. His face was chiseled in short fur and prominent whiskers, framing a large mouth and sharp fangs, including the teeth up front that had always distinguished the feline from all the others. From head to his large feet, he was covered in fluffy, full tan and brown fur, and an expressive, long tail twitched behind him, every so often touching the back of his legs. As she continued to look at him, she realized he wasn't wearing clothes, and her gaze lingered between his muscular legs, where his heavy, thick sex dangled, a bit out of its sheath, coming down to touch full and healthy balls.

The female's eyes quickly returned to the cat's, and was at least pleased that the sneer on his face was gone. Now he just looked puzzled. "I know what you're going to say," she tried to be conversational, slipping his loincloth over her head and at least succeeding in covering a bit of her globes. "What is a gorgeous seaotter like me doing here, right?"

Myre didn't respond, but watched as the creature got to her knees and crawled carefully over to the water, getting herself a quick drink with a paw full before looking back at him over her shoulder.

"To be honest, I am a little lost in answering that myself. But," she sat back on her heels, looking around her, "This is not L.A., and I'm certainly not at my penthouse." She finally smiled brightly for the first time. "And you are certainly not my assistant Templeton..."

Myre tilted her head at her, and when she smiled, he thought the reasonable thing might be to smile back.

The seaotter swallowed hard and crawled back over to him. "My name is Lani. Lani Malia." She pointed to her chest and the tiger's eyes wandered over her breasts, still quite accentuated by the wet leather he had given her. He felt a little stir in his stomach and felt his member jut slightly further away from its sheath.

"Can you say my name? Lani? Lah-nee?"

Myre licked his lips and then uttered a short growl. "Rah-ee?"

Lani nodded, "Well, close enough. Um...what is your name?" She chanced to scoot a bit closer, staying on her knees, until she was perhaps a foot away. Myre caught a lovely scent, almost intoxicating, and moved his head forward, touching her hair with his nose, causing her to laugh.

It was the most beautiful sound in the world.

"You are so handsome..." She began to churr, reaching a webbed paw out slowly towards his chest. "So, what is your name...?"

Instinctively, the tiger jerked his body back, suddenly growling at her, and starting to reach for his spear.

"No, wait, wait, please..." the seaotter begged, cowering and lowering herself back down to the ground. "I'm...I'm not trying to hurt you...I just..." The futility of the language barrier finally got the best of Lani and she curled up, crossing her legs in front of her and starting to cry.

Myre snorted again, seemingly a sound of disgust, and moved closer to her once more, looking at her curiously. His spell had to have done this somehow. Whatever the reason for this strange creature's presence, it had something to do with foresight. Perhaps a tribe of her kind was approaching, others who spoke her odd tongue, and were just as attractive. The thought of his feline group associating, perhaps even mating with others like this one made him grow warm again, and he unconsciously placed a large paw between his legs, feeling himself now fully erect.

Lani had noticed the gesture and her eyes widened a bit at the sight of a rather proud and full feline sex now completely free from its sheath. "W-well..." she started to say shyly, "I-I guess we both...seem a little attracted to one another..." She slowly brought her webbed paw forward, and this time Myre did not flinch as her digits touched his arm. "There...see? I'm not going to hurt you..." Lani churred softly, caressing his soft fur. It was like stroking thick silk, as fluffy as any Persian cat back home.

Home.

She suddenly stopped stroking and finally took in her full surroundings in the forest, looking over the majestic peaks of mountain tops in the distance, the beautiful, lush and wild fauna of plant life, and flowers festooning over thick branches of some of the tallest trees she had ever seen. For all the world, it looked to her like a paradise not unlike the Hawaiian islands she had visited. Yes, she thought, throw in the idyllic lagoon and the cascading waterfall, and that was exactly what it looked like to her.

Her eyes looked back at Myre's again. "You have...such a beautiful home, Big Cat."

He growled softly, noticing the way she was looking at him now. Her green eyes were lidded, warm, a glint in them he had seen in many a tigress' eyes at times. They promised trust and something more. He looked up at the sky again, noting the moon was now almost full above them, and that decided him.

The creature needed to sleep but where? Surely he could not take her back to the caves with him.

Myre got up from the ground in front of her and picked up his spear. This time the seaotter did not flinch as he gestured with it, raising it up and signaling her with a jerk, emitting a quick pattern of deep growls.

"You want me to come with you, Big Cat?" Lani was quick to get up, brushing dirt from her arms and legs, and once more Myre was reminded of just how beautiful the creature was. "Okay, um, where are we going?" She made her way on dainty, webbed feet up beside him, looking curious as he started to pad away from her, heading into a large canopy of trees.

Lani bit her bottom lip nervously, her whiskers twitching, then followed the cat into the forest.

**

In the end, Myre thought the safest place for the female was in the trees, far enough off the ground to avoid being scented by the much larger creatures. He gestured towards one of the largest trees around them and climbed up slowly. At first she seemed hesitant, but her webbed paws had sharp claws as well, like his own, and they were both soon able to rest comfortably on a thick crook of branches jutting from the trunk.

Every so often Lani's eyes widened at the sounds of the other creatures roaring around them, but a few soft growls from the sabertoothed tiger somehow made her feel safe. Myre gathered a large pile of oak leaves to cushion her head and watched her as she closed her eyes, starting to churrr peacefully.

"Thanks, Big Cat," she sighed, moving her head around until she could feel the warm comfort of his chest, her silky hair draped over his thick scruff of fur. Soon she was fast asleep.

**

They woke up to hot sunshine the next morning, the seaotter having snuggled against the tiger even more. Myre looked down to notice her legs had drawn up, wrapped around one of his thick thighs, and her warmth was pressed up tight to his sex. At some point in the night, the loincloth he had given her had slipped free, and her full, brown breasts were now mashed to his side, the swollen, hard nipples easily discernable, almost digging into his fur. He swallowed hard as he realized he was in full, throbbing erection. A wave of desire dizzied him for the moment, his mind mixed with thoughts of mating with the creature, and the common sense that reminded him of why she was here and the meaning behind it.

He watched the strange creature sleep, reaching a large paw down to brush at some hair that had fallen over her cheek. For some reason, he felt her face should never be covered from the sun, almost as if it were a transgression. She mmmed softly in her sleep and her churrring became softer still, like the warm purrs he had enjoyed from several tigresses before.

"Mmm..." Lani did not open her eyes at first, content still to snuggle. The sounds of several birds filled her ears and she frowned, sighing, "I'm still here, aren't I?" Those remarkable green eyes opened and flicked up at his face. "I was so hoping this was all a strange dream, Big Cat." Her webbed paws came up to his chest to stroke, and Myre started to purr deeply. "Well...it's...not all a nightmare, I suppose..." Her arm brushed across his magnificent sex and she gasped, seeing just how big he was, at least a foot-long or more, and easily four inches thick.

As her fur touched the organ, it seemed to jump, and almost immediately a swirl of pre-cum jutted from the tip. "Oh my God..." she whispered, and her paw pressed down on the flared and swollen knob. "Wow...just...look at you..." Her paw massaged just that thick bit of flesh, and Myre felt his head would soon explode with need, the feeling of having his sex-tip ground up between silky stomach-fur, and the softness of the creature's paw was too much to take for long.

"L-let me..." the creature whispered to him, and the tone of her voice, the way her churrs were sounding now, told him to indeed let her do whatever she wanted.

In just moments, he let out a sharp yowl, followed by a hard orgasm he had never experienced before. Lani's paw continued to move with his organ's throbs, forcing out more and more of his seed in spatters, jerks, and then slow streams, coating his stomach and her webbed digits in a mess of his scent. As she curled her legs up tightly against his thighs to make her own sounds of pleasure, the heat between her legs, slick and wet, pressed to his fur and rubbed.

And then she giggled softly, nuzzling his arm. "Mmm...just like all the other guys, huh? Morning wood is so irritating, isn't it? Well, don't you worry, Big Cat," her paw lowered some to pet and caress his still-hard shaft. "I'm here for you."

Myre had no idea what the female was saying to her, but the softness in her voice was enough to tell him that, no matter what strange event had occurred in her arrival here, he would do everything he could to protect her. After a few more tender affectionate nuzzles between them, the two slowly made their way back down from the trees and returned to the lagoon.

Lani stretched by the side of the water as the tiger again admired her lithe and sleek form. Truly no tigress he had been with was quite like this creature. As he watched her thick, bristly tail bob up behind her, he caught sight of the mound of flesh between sculpted thighs, surrounded by the taut crescents of her buttocks. The ache to mate with her began to overtake him again, and he growled gently as he came up behind her, his full arousal poking against the small of her back, spreading out a bit of her long flowing hair.

Lani laughed softly and scooted away before dipping a foot experimentally in. "About the same as my swimming pool back home," she said over her shoulder, licking her lips. "Do you want to swim? Maybe we can catch something to eat?" She saw Myre look at her and tilt his head, confused. "You know? Swim?" The seaotter made a few swimming gestures and motions with her arms.

The tiger's eyes seemed to register understanding and he gave her a bare nod.

She grinned. "Well, good. At least we can communicate a little. Come on, Big Cat..." Her thick tail wiggled a bit. "See if you can catch me..." With that, she took a deep breath and dove head-first into the lagoon. Myre hurried to the edge just in time to see his lovely companion's shimmering form through the clear water, diving deeper and deeper amidst a few bubbles. He watched the creature pause at a huge section of rocks far below, still kicking short brown legs, and begin exploring her surroundings.

After quite a long time, he could see the creature turn and swim back up towards the surface, letting out a deep gasp as her head broke the water, shaking her head and splashing water. "Oh wow...it's so...gorrrgeous down there, Big Cat. Come on..." She splashed him with a paw playfully before rolling onto her back and floating, closing her eyes.

Myre gruffed a bit and felt his stomach rumble. He had forgotten all about eating last night because of his guest. The feline's eyes gleamed as he watched the creature churrr and lift a leg up from the water, her bare breasts submerging briefly, her fur becoming soaking wet all over again. He turned and reached for his spear, padding carefully to the edge of the water and growling at her.

Lani opened her eyes and a smirk crossed her face. "Oh..." She rolled back around until she was treading water again. "Going to show me how it's done, Big Cat? Alright..." Without waiting, she sucked in another gulp of air and submerged, as Myre dove in almost atop of her.

Underwater, it was truly another world. Lani churriped a few bubbles at her guide, pointing down several feet to the rocks below, and kicked away, leading the tiger. Myre watched her dive, holding his breath tightly, and followed. As they approached the rocks, Lani started poking her paw into and underneath crevices, looking for anything that might resemble the seafood delicacies she had been accustomed to on the Southern California shores.

A large grouper suddenly shot out from the rocks, nearly hitting her, and she pointed at the huge fish as it sped past Myre. Quick as a flash, the tiger jabbed his spear forward, thrusting the ivory through and through. The grouper wiggled hard several times before finally going limp on the spear. The seaotter clapped her paws and smiled, and Myre looked at her, the beginnings of a peculiar grin showing. He quickly motioned with an arm that he was going back up for air.

Lani quickly kicked back towards him, and before the tiger could react, her arms and then her legs had wrapped around his body, and her face was moving up against his. In his surprise, the spear dropped from his paw and sank down into the depths. Lani churrred a little flow of bubbles from her small mouth and then pressed it to his own maw, forcing his lips to open a bit wider, allowing her tongue to nestle inside and rub his own. The underwater kiss started to stretch out, and all thoughts of air, his tribe, his whole world began to leave him. He would have gladly gone on kissing her until he drowned, but then he felt a new warmth as air suddenly filled his aching lungs, and he could hold it in again without straining.

Lani finally pulled away from him, her eyes lidded in pleasure, then smiled and dove away from him, heading down to the very bottom of the lagoon several more feet below them. Myre marveled at the creature's talents with water. Perhaps it was something he too could learn, with time and the proper spell.

He started to swim down towards her, but the pressure started to affect his ears, and he shook his head before kicking back up. Lani surfaced a little while later with his spear and the grouper, gasping for breath and coughing a bit. "A little deeper than my pool..." she laughed shyly, swimming up to Myre and nuzzling. The tiger started to purr loudly again, and nuzzled back, still thinking about the wonderful kiss he had shared with her below.

The two shared the fish by the lagoon, huddled close to one another. The seaotter seemed to enjoy the soft and silky fur of her brutish companion more, and the physical contact aroused them both. Lani shyly stroked his member again with her paw, letting him go in a froth of cum after a few moments of steady motions, until he was practically mewling against her chest.

Lani in turn felt her own body aching, and was delighted when the feline took some attention on her as well, combing over her breasts with his large, sandpaper tongue. Presently she was pushed onto her back on the ground, and feeling his warm tongue all over her body, along her legs and feet, even the webbing around her toes.

Her scent was heavy, Myre could sense now. Stronger than he had ever felt with the occasional tigress he had shared his lust with. He lifted his head up from her legs, looking at her mound, pink flesh exposed, glistening. He brought his head up close to her thighs, purring loudly, and started to swipe his tongue across her aroused petals, feeling them quiver under his touch.

"Ohhh...honey, that's...that's amazing...mmmm...my Big Cat..." She held as still as she could, closing her eyes against the rougher, wetting laps against her cunny, the excited folds now swollen full, showing a pink button of flesh between as her clit pushed through.

Her taste was wonderful, so sweet and alluring, and it was driving Myre mad with a raging lust he had never felt before. Within moments, the seaotter's paws were clinging to his head-fur, and she was crying out as a pumping warmth of her juices mixed with his saliva, and then trickled and then gushed from her folds in thick globs.

Before she had a chance to come down from her orgasm, he was on top of her, jamming his hips forward, then thrusting upwards. Lani's eyes widened and she let out a trembling, heavy gasp as his sex filled her to its hilt, and she eagerly wrapped her legs around him, letting him love her.

**

Afterwards, they rested against one another, Lani's head in his lap, while the shaman stroked her ears and thought. He had no idea what he was going to do with the creature next, but part of him was considering abandoning his narrow-minded tribe and taking her away with him. Perhaps they could find a new tribe of tigers, or better still, she could lead him to her own people.

If only there were more like her.

Common sense and a great sadness washed over him. He could not leave his tribe for her. He was needed there, he belonged to a loving family of other tigers who cared for him, and respected him. He would, perhaps many moons later, become their leader, their guide. He would be their god.

Myre sighed and gently lifted Lani's head up so that he could look at her, and tried to talk in his language, hoping against hope she understood.

Lani just smiled, shaking her head after he had finished his pattern of growls. "Ohhh, I really enjoy being with you too, Big Cat. You are by far the best lover I've ever had..." She laughed and pet his thigh, her fingers swiping playfully over his still slightly-firm, unsheathed member.

Myre looked at her but decided that if she were happy, then he would not try again to say what he had said. He looked at the edge of the lagoon, where the small pouch that contained his be-spelled powder still lay. Growling a few short spurts, the tiger crawled away from her and over to the pouch, carefully lifting it up into his paw.

He had somehow summoned this lovely creature. Perhaps he could...

Myre stood up slowly and walked over to the seaotter, holding the pouch out to her while growling again.

Lani's head tilted curiously. "What is it, Big Cat? Something you want me to have?" She slipped a few small fingers inside, feeling the soft powder. "Ohh, what is this?"

Myre swallowed hard and pulled the pouch away from her, sifting through its contents until he had a good bit of it pinched between his own thick digits. As he looked into her eyes, his own began to well with tears as he growled softly at her and leaned his head forward to nuzzle her cheek.

As she began to churr again, he sprinkled the powder over her head and growled his incantations.

**

"...work in this town again, you hear me? Don't forget, Lani's got pay-or-play contracts!"

Lani opened her eyes wearily at the voice, in a daze, and felt water all around her, hearing it against her ears and splashing her. She suddenly jerked herself up and found she was in her swimming pool, floundering suddenly in the deep end. She coughed as water entered her mouth and quickly grabbed for the ladder, pulling herself shaking and wet to the edge of the pool and looking around her wildly.

"Well, about time you woke up," a tall, portly rat-man sneered down at her. "You've been dozing in that pool for over an hour. You're gonna get yourself all wrinkly around the eyes if'n you keep it up."

"Oh my God, Templeton...?" She looked around her again. "It's you? I'm...I'm home..."

"What are you talkin' about? Course you're home. Where the hell else would you be? You're not due on the set until Friday, remember? You wanted the day off?" He held out a towel for her and then sheepishly looked away as she pulled herself naked from the water and wrapped the towel around her.

The seaotter nodded, still trembling, and looked back at the pool. "Did I...did I fall asleep?"

"Yep, you were out like a light so I did some housework inside. Then W.B. calls me up and gives me the riot act, but I let him have it..."

Lani nodded, still unsure. "Um...okay. Wow...it must have been a dream, I guess...but, God, it felt so real...so..." She smiled softly, and her green eyes sparkled a bit.

"You okay, Ms. Malia?" The rat touched her shoulder and she shrugged it away.

"Yes, yes, I'm fine. Um...get W.B. on the phone, would you?" Templeton started to walk away and she added, "Oh, and could you bring me iced tea like I asked you before?"

Templeton stopped and looked at her, then snorted, turning to go through the patio's sliding-door to the kitchen, grumbling. "Hey, I'd have gotten if it you'd asked me, sweetie..."

Lani looked after him, puzzled.

**

Unlike other dreams, her time in the strange world with the saber-toothed tiger seemed to stick with her constantly. Whether she was posing naked by a swimming pool, or dressed in a delicious new bikini collection from France, thoughts of the tiger never left her. At night, barely able to sleep, she would press a pillow between her thighs and dream about him until she reached orgasm, which always put her into a deep sleep.

One early evening, after a tiring photo session, she arrived home to see Templeton watching the news. She yawned and stretched on her toes before flumping down next to him on the sofa, and the rat gave her a soft kiss on the cheek.

"What's going on?" The seaotter smiled and gave him an affectionate nose-rub back. "I thought you'd be out with Jose tonight. Aren't you guys a wild couple on the weekend?"

The rat rolled his eyes. "Nah, he's in Cabo for a wedding. Couldn't take me this time. You okay?"

The seaotter didn't answer for a moment as she looked at the big-screen HDTV propped up on the wall. "I'm fine..." she whispered as she watched the news story silently. Templeton shrugged and thumbed the volume up.

"...standing by at the Los Angeles Science Center. Carl, you there?" A large fox suddenly came on screen, tapping his microphone a few times.

"I'm here, Jim, go ahead. Sorry, a lot of shouting going on here..."

"Quite alright, Carl, what can you tell us about this amazing event?"

"Well, Jim, like you said, it's groundbreaking. We've all heard tales of science-fiction and fantasy, we've all read about people wanting to replicate and clone beloved pets, and the whole idea of cloning our prehistoric ancestors. Tonight, in a bold statement, the unthinkable has happened. The Los Angeles Science Center Historical Preservation team are reporting tonight that they have secretly cloned the very first saber-toothed tiger from a fully-preserved, frozen specimen..."

Lani suddenly sat bolt upright on the couch, eyes widening.

"Something wrong?" Templeton started to say and Lani quickly waved a paw at him, listening. The rat shrugged and got up, walking into the kitchen for a drink.

"Now, Carl, when you say clone, you mean it's the same tiger, right?"

"Well, exactly. Yes, that's correct. The exact same in every way, from physical details, to traits, even memories..."

"Did you say memories, Carl? You mean..."

"That's right, Jim. One day soon, once they have established some form of communication with this beast, we might know a LOT more about where we came from and how we..."

The scene shifted to a crowd gathered around a large cage covered with a black spread. One of the scientists was holding up a small leather pouch and showing it off to another line of cameramen.

"Pretty crazy, huh?" Templeton chuckled as he came back inside. "Lani?"

She was gone.

"I just want to thank everyone for coming here tonight. I know we've spent a good hour or so on this story, and we appreciate our viewers' patience as we get set for the unveiling." Carl Reeve was saying as he walked back and forth in front of the cage. "Shouldn't be too long now. We expect a quick statement from Dr. Zach Garrison of the Preservation team and then...wait a moment...we seem to have a guest..."

All eyes turned to the seaotter in jeans and a blouse, running up and trying to push through the throng of foxes, cats, dogs and other otters. "Why, it's actress and Playfur model Lani Malia! Hi! what are you-hey!"

She had succeeded in getting past the lines of microphone cords and camera bays and was now hurrying up in front of the main television camera. She pushed Carl hard out of the way, grabbing the tarp covering the cage and ripping it away.

Everyone suddenly started to shout again, some getting pictures, as security from the Science Center surrounded her, trying to grab at her arms. She cried out and scratched at them, wrestling hard. Her eyes fell on the large mass of speckled brown and tan fur lying curled up in the cage, looking peaceful.

Slowly its amber eyes opened and looked around questioningly at the excited creatures around it, and then at the female being jerked back from the cage and wrapped up in several arms.

It let out a loud roar that stopped everyone in their tracks. Lani looked timidly at the tiger and wiggled free of her captives' arms, stepping up close to the cage door.

"Someone get her out of there! She could be killed!" Carl was shouting into his microphone.

But Lani was already opening the door.

Everyone suddenly gasped and cried out, shrinking away from the cage in horror as the seaotter padded carefully up to the brute, who had now gotten up from the floor of the cage and was roaring fiercely.

Lani bit her lip and came closer to him, reaching out a paw to the tiger. "Hello, you..." she said softly.

The tiger's eyes lost a bit of their rage and his large mouth quivered.

Suddenly he was leaping forward, hugging around Lani tightly and purrring hard as the seaotter suddenly laughed and pressed her mouth to his for a long, engaging tongue-kiss, amid the shouts of consternation and alarm from the reporters and scientists, and the steady, almost-blinding flash of cameras.

When they finally broke away, the sabertooth growled and licked her nose. "Rah-ee..."

Lani giggled, her eyes spilling over with tears. "I missed you too, Big Cat..." she whispered against his mouth, and kissed him again.
