Chapter 2: An offer Accepted
Killara placed his paws on Nhir's shoulders and looked into his eyes. "Nhir, I know this is happening too fast. I am not one who rushes into these things, believe me. This has been a long time coming. I have worked for over 10 years to find you," Killara stated, smiling.
Now it was Nhir's turn to smile. "You've been watching me for that long," he asked.
"The last person that I found to join me was Simo. He's been with me for ten years now. In case you are wondering, Simo was indeed the last one to receive an email similar to the one you received. In fact, it was indeed him who sent that email to you. But it was me who told him to do so. Simo handles my day-to-day operations and assists me in my endeavors, whatever they may be," Killara replied.
"Killara, what exactly do you do," Nhir asked.
Killara smiled, pulled out the remote from his pocket and tapped a few buttons on it. Instantly, a small screen dropped down from the ceiling. "Well to be honest, I do many things. A small portion of my wealth was left to me by my parents. The majority of my fortune was made through various business ventures including real estate, technology, and even restaurants. I saw your reaction to when you tried the sandwich. By now you know that I know my way around a kitchen. Would you like to see your room Nhir," Killara asked.
"I have my own room," Nhir asked in disbelief.
"It's more than a room, more like an entire floor. This building is just my meeting and relaxation space to when I want to get away from everyone and the world. This is also sometimes my office. I assume you have seen the very tall apartment building in the middle of town, the one with the large spire," Killara replied. Pulling the phone out of his pocket, he dialed Simo.
"Yes sir, "Simo answered. "What do you require?"
"Simo, bring the car around. I will be showing Nhir his new place," Killara replied, and then hanging up the phone.
Going back over to the wardrobe, Killara pulled a simple outfit out and after removing his robe, he quickly got dressed. Nhir peeked a look and thought the lion looked quite good. After Killara was done, he tapped the fourth shelf and pointed at it. "Might as well get dressed since we are going out," he said, almost purring. (Lions can't purr I know this!)
Within a few minutes, the couple stepped out of the building and a limo was in front of them. Simo was standing next to the door and opened it so they could get in. After closing the door, Simo went to the driver's seat and started the car and began driving.
"The building you're talking about, where we live, is that The Clairemont? I followed the construction of that building," Nhir asked.
"Indeed it is Nhir. Took me about five years from ground-breaking to get the thing built, and people to move in. The reason it took so long is that each apartment is 100% customized. Each resident there was allowed to assist in the designs of the floorplans, and even pick out the décor and furnishings," Killara replied. "In case you're wondering, your apartment has already been completed. In fact, it was completed the day you received the email."
"Oh and by the way master, all of Mr.Urson's personal possessions have already been placed in the apartment. I also received confirmation that Mr.Urson's computer and mobile will be delivered by courier tomorrow afternoon. They will be arriving at the apartment and installing the computer promptly at eleven," Simo stated, in an almost monotone voice.
"Thank you Simo. Once we arrive at the apartment and settle in, if I require anything, I will contact you," Killara responded.
"Yes master," Simo replied.
After several minutes, they arrived at The Clairemont. The doorman opened the passenger and Killara stepped out, followed by Nhir.
"Master Killara, what a pleasure to see you again! How are you this evening," the doorman asked, removing his hat and bowing slightly.
"Good evening Robert. I am fine, I trust that you are as well. Oh by the way, this is our newest resident, Mr. Nhir Urson. He and I go back and are old friends," Killara replied, shaking the doorman's hand.
"Welcome Mr. Urson. Your apartment is all ready. When you sign in at the desk, they will provide all the necessary paperwork and keys to your new apartment. Also, you will be given a key to the express elevator. Only you and Master Killara are able to use it," the doorman said, guiding them to the front desk located in the lobby.
When they reached the desk, a rather attractive female cheetah stood up and bowed slightly. "Good evening Master Killara. We have been expecting you. Welcome to The Clairemont Mr. Urson. I am Jelani, the administrator. Before we get you into your new apartment, we need to finish some paperwork," she replied, pulling out a computer tablet and placing it on the desk. "Master Killara, please log in."
Killara placed his hand on the tablet and the computer beeped. It then prompted him for a voice-print sample. After he provided it, the computer prompted Jelani to log in. After she logged in, she placed the tablet in front of Nhir.
"Mr.Urson, please place your paw on the tablet and speak your name clearly," she asked.
After placing his paw and giving the voice-print match, the printer behind the desk sprung to life and within a minute or two, a small plastic card was produced. Picking it up, she placed it in a plastic holder and handed it to Nhir.
"Mr.Urson, this key is both the key to the elevator, but also the key to your apartment. Please do not lose this, as it will require this process you went through to create another key," Jelani stated, in a stern tone.
"Thank you Jelani. When the courier arrives tomorrow, please inform me. I will be assisting my friend in getting settled into his new place," Killara replied, smiling.
Going over the elevator, Killara pulled out his key and placed it into the reader. The doors opened and they stepped inside. The elevator was about 6 feet wide, with a couch circling the perimeter of the elevator car. The odd thing that Nhir noticed was there were no indications of floor or buttons. There was the usual door that appeared it was for a phone on one side and the reader about halfway up the wall on the other. Killara sat down in the left corner and chuckled.
"I got us in here my friend. It's your key that gets us upstairs to your new place," Killara teased.
Placing his card in the reader, the doors closed and the elevator whirred to life. Amazingly, it was extremely quiet. Killara leaned over and opened the door. Nhir was surprised that instead of an emergency phone, there was a small ice chest with two glasses of champagne. Removing them both, Killara handed one to Nhir, smiling.
"I've waited ten years to say this, welcome to your new life Nhir. Time to enjoy yourself," Killara toasted clinking the glasses together and taking a sip. He then leaned in and kissed Nhir on his muzzle.
Nhir moaned and took Killara into his arms and kissed him passionately. Their thoughts were interrupted by the elevator stopping and the doors opening. In the hallway just in front of the elevator was a single door, labeled 3472. The door had been wrapped in gold wrapping paper with the lettering "Welcome Home Nhir."
"Forgive me, but I am one for tradition. Please hand me your key," Killara asked, his palm out. Once he received the key, he placed it in the reader and the door clicked. "Close your eyes. I want this to be a surprise." He picked up Nhir in his arms and carried him across the threshold. After placing him down, he stood back. "Open your eyes love and enjoy your home."
Nhir opened his eyes and gasped. The apartment was decorated in a mix of modern and art deco styles. To his right, there was a very modern kitchen with stainless steel, granite counter-tops but the living room was decorated in art deco with a mix of light and dark colors. He turned back over to Killara and ran into his arms, crying.
"I love it. It is gorgeous. I can't ever repay you for this, even if I work for an eternity," Nhir sobbed.
Killara smiled. He knew it was going to be overwhelming at the beginning, but he was starting to worry if maybe he was rushing into this. He placed his hand's on Nhir's shoulder and looked into his eyes. "You just did love. The fact you liked what I did for you is payment enough. When I said it took me five years to build this building. I had it done in a little over two. It took me five years just for your apartment. I wanted it to be perfect," he replied, now tears in his eyes.
Nhir hugged the lion again. "Although many wouldn't approve of the lengths you have gone to to find me, I am glad you did," Nhir replied, kissing the lion again.
Taking the bear's hand, he led him through the apartment to the bedroom. It was large platform bed, king size, decorated with pillows and a white comforter. Nhir looked at Killara, a look of lust in his eyes. Killara turned towards him and began to remove his clothing. Once Nhir was naked, Killara removed his clothing as well. Slipping into bed, they took each other in a loving embrace and began kissing passionately.
