A story that I will be working on from time to time.

The bell rang loud when it went off to signal the end of the school day. The teacher gave us all his ending words about their days homework on mathematics. As we all left he gave us the same warning every day to be careful and don't wander around alone; It was a warning we always listened to now days. With a heavy sigh I picked up my bag to shoulder it, standing from the make shift desk and the half broken chair. The furniture in this school wasn't top grade any more if it could be judged. Most of the chairs had been glued or nailed back together from miscellaneous other chairs, desks had been remade from broken doors and counter tops. Giving a wave to the teacher as I left from the room, there was no need to worry about closing the door since it was hanging open off one hinge. The hallways were no better, kicking debris down the torn up hall making my way to the exit, there were no posters or promotions of school events or town events on the cork boards. All the kids and teachers were leaving at the same time, no reason to stay after with no school clubs any more, giving waves and small conversation as they all made for home. Never being very popular even with the small number of kids at the school I wasn't caught up for long before I had left the ruined building into the bright sun to see what I saw every day. The sun was starting to fall behind the buildings or what was left of them, most had been torn down to rumble or blown apart from explosives, leaving gaping holes. The walk would have been the same thirty minute walk as always with out much else to do outside now days, kicking rubble as my feet dragged along the ground. Giving a heavy sigh as I looked up into the sky not wanting to head home just yet, it was a nice day even with the thought of danger lurking about in my head. Deciding to get to on a roof top to look over what remained of the city, it was oddly calming to me. It wasn't hard to get into most buildings now with them having walls torn down. As I walked down the echoing halls making my way higher up the building watching the footing as I went. At the top of the stair case the stubborn door was stuck some, having to kick in the door till it swung open giving me the sight I wanted. The sky was turning red as the sun dipped down more behind the horizon, it gave the city a bright yet dark look about the shadows as they crawled farther along. It was already almost night and bad things always came out after dark. Though day light wasn't even very safe now days the nights were always worse. Sitting on what must have once been a shipping crate next to a barrel that must have been used as a table, someone had the same idea as me at one time. Pulling out the tattered book that held the questions for my math class figuring I could use the last of the sun before having to run home to do this homework. It was always so much easier when my mind was clear and calm, being so high up the winds could gently brush against my skin. As I worked on my schooling I hadn't noticed a small over head light had flickered on as the night sky was creeping over letting the stars shine in the black space. It was a bad sign that I never noticed as the light from the fixture kept me thinking I still had time that I didn't. Finishing up my work with a heavy sigh having never liked math or understood the need in these times but education must live on. Though the relief of finishing my work quickly faded when I noticed the stars had taken over the sky, even the clouds seemed to run to the mountains when night came. Muttering to myself as I quickly crammed all of my work into my stitched bag hoping I wouldn't be caught out so late. We are just lucky to be in one of the safer zones with such a low population it wasn't often that they came here but they always knew if you were out alone and they would be on me soon if I was unlucky. As I started to step inside there was a bright flash in the dark sky, glancing back up to see it was a shooting star. It took me a minute to remember what my teacher had called them when they had worked on science, I also remembered that he said that if you made a wish that they could come true. I couldn't help but smile at this since any thing as small as the hope of a streaking light making dreams come true. As it streamed through the sky I stepped back onto the open roof thinking before whispering out my wish, "I wish there was something that could help us in these times." Waiting for a minute before I gave another sigh hoping that maybe it could happen, that little hope would help me for a month or so if I saw that far away. Turning back to start heading back down the building, much more cautious then before now that the halls were pitch black aside the beams of dusty moon light that shot through holes. Sliding down a pile of rubble to the street with a clatter having lost my foot and ending up face down into the dirt. Coughing as I sat up dusting myself off, looking back up as I heard something in the distance. It was loud like a burning fire that was raging closer, I looked around seeing if there was anything else that could have been making the sound, with no bright flashes of a fire I could only guess that this object was the cause. It was bright, bright as the sun beaming out of a pin hole, maybe it was the shooting star coming to bring me my wish I thought. It made me smile a little thinking that the teacher might have been right about them granting wishes, though that smile once again had turned into a frown when I realized that the bright object was getting brighter which most likely meant that it was getting closer. It was obvious as the crackle of burning moisture in the air hissed loudly as I watched it getting closer unsure what to do so I dived back into the building thinking that it would some how save me from a object flying at such speeds it caught fire. I took cover in the dark building as I watched the beam of fire from what I thought might be relative safety. As I had thought about the object it had indeed been getting closer to his position, what ever it was had smashed into the ground with such a force I had never experienced. The whole area shook and the walls had visibly started to wave from the shock wave that had shot out, it also tossed me into a wall behind me almost knocking me out and half way into the crumbling wall. The area was fogged up with dust, my ears rang as I fell from the wall to my knees, coughing up a little blood from the impact. I must have broken a rib or something because it hurt more or less everywhere when I tried to stand up. Trying to see through the dust cloud as I crawled towards the light of the moon as my only way of seeing a way out. Outside was in a worse condition then I had felt, the impact crater that the space debris left had taken out a area around of a large pick up truck and was deep enough that I didn't risk going down till I knew I could get out. The walls of the crater had glassed over from the heat of the entrance, rubble was still fall from nearby buildings, I was surprised they had even been standing after such a shock. It was obvious they wouldn't be standing too much longer as I watched one of the support beams melt away because of the blast. Inside the crater was still smoldering but I had to know what it was that had fallen. Hoping it was just what I wished for or just a rock from space either way I had to see. Reaching out to feel the sides of the hole, it was only warm now in the cool night air, scooting close to the edge going feet first to slide down the rough glassed edges and being careful not to injure myself any more on the way down. Getting to the bottom and sliding to a stop against what ever it was that had fallen. I started to look over it trying to understand what it could have been, it was still smoking with warmth, trying to get the smoke out of the way I waved my hands over the object clearing the area a little more, coughing on the semi sweet scent that came from it. It was a scent that he wished I never knew though once I realized what the scent was I was in disbelief as there was no way it could have been. To my horror as the smoke clear a little more it was revealed for what it was, it was humanoid in shape, though now it was mangled and twisted in a burnt husk of what used to be a humanoid. I paniced some trying to back away from it a little, unable to remove my eyes from it unable to identify who, what, or what sex the being was any more. As I had been trying to back peddle out of the hole I thought I saw it move a little, a twitch of in the fingers maybe. It may not have been the smartest thing at the time but I was now in amazement and wonder. Could what ever this thing was have really lived entry from space without any form of protection? There were only a few things that I thought of that could have been able to do that and depending on what it was it may have been just what I wished for or it could have been my death. By the time I had come back to the body it was moving a little more, gripping its hand into a fist, the charcoal coating had started to fall off in chucks revealing clean white skin underneath. Even in the dim light of the burning garbage it was easy to see that bright skin in the dark. Hesitant to get any closer I sat a little ways away watching as more of this person was revealed as their body was healing up far more quickly then anything he had ever seen or heard about. I had forgotten that it was night and only getting later which only meant I would more then likely be hunted down now but I couldn't leave just yet. As more of the bark like husk of charred fell off it was soon noticable that it was a girl. I gasped and averted my eyes a little as her naked frame was visible now, after a minute I had to look back up to see her. She was beyond beauty even in her still half burnt state she enthralled me and I was stuck in that moment. Steeping closer to pick this girl up to hold as she became more and more human looking by the second. She looked rather young maybe just becoming a young adult, silver hair was starting to grow from her once bald scalp, it kept growing till it was almost as long as she was tall. The girl wasn't all that tall by human standards and on a guess I would have guessed not much taller then five feet even if that. Her skin became smooth as silk against my own as I held her up to check if she really was alive or it was some joke my mind was playing after the blast of impact. As my hand held her small wrist my head went to her chest to press a ear to listen, thump, a beat of a heart and it was steady and strong. Another rush of excitement washed over me, this girl was alive, healing at inhuman speeds, beautiful beyond the endless horizon and in my arms. I could only hope that she was something good and not a being of evil like so many others found around these parts now. It was hard to resist attempting to do anything with her as she was still unconscious from her entry now that her frame was held in my arms. I could feel her body warming up as if she was coming back from death as I held her, chest lightly expanding as she breathed. Even if I did want to do indecent things with the girl the sight of her beauty kept my mind at bay as if her body knew and was keeping me calmed like I felt when alone so high on the buildings. Entranced and lost in time I never realized that I had been being watched for some time at this point but when they wanted to be noticed they let me know. In that moment I felt my skin crawl with hate and disgust as his words invaded my head. "Well well look at that, a human got to here before we did. I thought all of you little boys are supposed to be at home asleep by now in your little safe houses." The voice was smooth as velvet with how he spoke but I knew the intentions were not something good. I looked up to see them, my heart sank into the earth it fell so far, three of them dressed in the finest suits I had ever seen before. It was always how they dressed, the lying smooth talkers that made us live in true fear. This was bad I kept thinking to myself as I looked to this girl in my arm before looking back up at each of them. It was hard to tell details aside their clean cut hair styles and what they wore for clothes in the moon light. A different one spoke, they always sounded so close to the same, smooth calm tones of a psychopath trying to lure I a victim. His voice sounded younger as he spoke, "Why are we still watching him anyways shouldn't we just kill him and get to her before she gets up now? I could only think of how mad that girl will be when she wakes up again." His arms were crossed with his fingers rolling in a tap showing his impatience for having to wait for a kill. Such evil bastards I knew they were just toying with me and more then likely going to toy with me in a much more violent manner before ending it. I couldn't let that happen even if I didn't stand a chance as I clung to this girl and held her tight. The first man had spoke again sending another wave of chills down my spine, "Can't you ever just take your time with these things, he can't escape. He is just a human but the girl is the one we do need to worry about you are right on that." His eyes gazed at be and in the dark I could see the red glow behind his eyes starting to flare up. "Boy your lucky day is here and you will be taken out from the nightmare of a life that you live." I was speechless and held by fear there was nothing I could do at this point, I might have been able to get away from one of the beasts but three was impossible. A cut on my head had started to bleed a little more as my blood pumped faster as my hearts pace quickened, a little river ran down the side of my cheek before the droplet formed and fell. I didn't see that it had landed on the girls slightly open lips letting the drop slide into her mouth. It made a reaction though and I think the group of guys noticed when she started to stir more. Looking down the girl had started to move in my arms, she hadn't opened her eyes yet as her hands ran over my neck and she started to pull herself closer. The first of them that had spoke gave the others a little signal as I watched what the girl was doing wondering why the others had been so worried about her. Though I might not have to worry about that for much long, feeling the ground hum with the vibrations of the static energy that was coming off of three of them. They might not have been the strongest of their kin but it was obvious that as a human I stood no chance against this. I watched as the alley way started to brighten as a as the aura around one of them kicked up like lightning. I wasn't scared at this point even if I was going to die, I just had to hope they didn't make it a slow death. As I closed my eyes I felt the girl puling herself closer to me, she whispered something in her weak state that I barely caught. As her arms pulled her face to my neck I was worried in a different way, her words only made me confused as much as worried. The voice that came from her was like a diva of old that put my nerves at a calm as they sank in, just two words, "So sweet." It was all she had said before her little mouth parted more showing off a small set of sharp fangs that were sunk into my neck. I choked a little trying to fight back but I couldn't my body was stunned from either the shock or something in her bite. Either way it seemed like she was just one of them in the end and it wasn't them that would end my life, it was my wish. How stupid of me...

This like many others in my world was just that start of my story in reality I had no clue what was really in store for me. That is yet to be written though and as it is we will all see how the world will change from this day. Were this story starts a history lesson is in need since much is left out from just a glance. It is easy to notice that my world has been put into a dark era in this small glance. This is our Earth now and our faults had nothing to do with this future like we had always thought it would. For a while things were looking up for our future to, at the beginning of the 31st millenia most of the world had come to a standing peace. Realizing that things like money and violent beliefs had been a cause of thousands of wars and deaths our world leaders had started to abolish them. Organized religion was one of the first to be pulled apart, it was the cause for prejudice and hate though they always talked about preaching peace and togetherness as they started wars cause someone didn't convert to their views. This in itself had nearly caused a war before it was decided that religion was allowed in its own as long as their wasn't hate crimes being committed and they weren't trying to convert any more. It was well known that many of the more foreign countries that were rule by religion tried to rebel on the subject stuck in their old ways. A for money we had converted back to more of a trade system and supply with demand, there was no longer such thing as rich folk as material wealth slowly lost its value as well. With the boom in technological advances at the turn of the 31st century most of the worlds production needs had been converted over to robotics. While unemployment had gone up this was not a bad thing like it may have seemed. There was no need for most people to work and those that did were often helped with the mechanical helpers. Science had taken a new life with so many more minds able to get the supplies that they needed much more easily now that the governments didn't control their funding. A true space age was thought to be easily available in the near future, ozone recreation, full planetary travel with biosphere habitats, and the needs to move whole cities off world. It was looking like an amazing future now that humans weren't trying to kill each other over the most petty of things. All of these advances in our race though would soon put to the test and in the end destroyed all around us in a few short years. It was the day of the first announced testing launch of the habitat shuttle, it was the first stage of reforming a planet to sustain human life. The launch was set and ready for the last initial performance checks, the engines had started to warm up for the pre-launch, then came the first known report of the beings that would change our world as a whole more then even we could ever. The shuttle stood tall attached with the launch pad as the whole world watched from home and on site as what looked like arcs of lightning had started running over the metalic hull in a growing storm. No one watching had any idea what was going on only watching as this gathering storm torn away molten chucks of the shuttle before one had caught the fuel cells. In an instant the shuttle was gone, turning into a molten rain of shrapnel for the crowd to watch in horror knowing what they could see for now. Panic had set in moments after the explosion sending the crowds into a near riot of fear as they tried to stampede away before the smoke clouds took them over. As the rain stopped and the smoke had blown away those still watching didn't see what they should have. Medical units had moved out as routine for a disaster like this, the vehicles had their lights flashing, doors had been left open, but the bodies hadn't been upright looking for those who needed attending. Instead of the emergency medics standing in the rumble there was a lone man dressed in a tattered suit that still smoldered from the burning flames. He looked as normal as me or you but that was far from the truth and he was going to make sure that everyone knew the difference through his hate. In one hand had been a microphone that he brought up to speak into. Giving the mic a few test taps letting the bumps echo out to get the crowds attention before he spoke. As they many of them started to focus on the lone man in even more confusion then before, "Welcome cattle, this momentous event that you have all had to watch is the first of many others that will soon befall your Earth. You might be wondering what I am talking about here and many of you have never seen me before but those of you that live if any of you do will always remember this day as the day your race was hunted down. Now, if you would all please stay in an orderly fashion it will make this much easier." With this announcement a war had been pushed upon us by a enemy that looked like us, acted like us, but had more power then all of our military prowess had ever known. This one man had slaughtered every person that didn't run away from the launching field with nothing more then his hands it was said. After that day more of them started showing up all over the world fulfilling his promise to us.

After the first drop had touched her tongue it had set her starved body into a frenzy. Having bit into the young man for the sweet blood he had contained inside. It helped that the human heart pumped the blood out into mouth before she could drain. Her advanced regeneration had kept her alive but the nutrients in the blood kicked it into over drive. She could feel her hair growing out again, dried burnt skin filling out to the pale hue it was set at since her change. Soon he had just enough of the life continuing blood to keep her body from a paralysis. The main problem now was that she was still starving after having to use so much blood to heal back. With a snap of thought she came back to the new reality she found herself in. Forcing herself to break from the humans neck after taking so much blood he had blacked out.

With a gasp of new life she forced herself away from the boy. This was for his protection now as he was not the only one to find her at the crash site. Three of her sworn enemies had met up to see I it was her clan and stop them if so. They only found her though and to them it was a lucky break, at first. If they had been the first to find her she would have been fully killed before the mission had started. As that was not the case they quickly changed to the offensive once they had confirmed it was one of the Vas'Rokeran. Even as she had been feeding they had tried to get a attack in, a bolt of concentrated electricity that was easy to stop with the rocks around her. With just enough power from the first bite of blood she was able to absorb the bolt into the earth. From here it was only going to get worse for her opponents as she was at a point to defend herself. With a quick gesture she had wrapped the blacked out boy a protective field that she hoped would be enough. It would not last for a long time but she was hoping this fight would not be a hard one with her weakened state. Looking up from the crater she had fallen into with her impact to see the three standing together watching her. She at this point was weaponless and her body suit was still also in the stages of regeneration. Having to quickly dash out of the hole in the search for her weapon as bolts of lightning crashed around her. Some had been so close she could feel the static cling pulling the bolt closer to her. Wisps of fire ignited in the air to block her path at points as she made a frantic search for her tool of trade. It was lucky the weapon was bonded to her letting her feel out for it so it was only a matter of finding a path to her weapon now. This was not going to be a easy task with her pursuers throwing a hail of elements at her. At the least she knew what two of the powers that possessed were so she was forming a counter already. While she was fast on her feet she was unable to currently use her abilities to enhance herself. Using her powers right now would drain what little strength she had. That strength was slowly running out every time a bolt would land against her skin or a wisp would singe her body. Every wound would quickly heal but it was taking a unseen toll on her. Her search had taken her but away from her original crash site, this meant the human would not have a chance to be a causulity when ge did turn to fight. At last she had spoted her lost weapon, it was dug deeply into the cement flooring of a building it had made impact with. Her followers had kept in rather close having a similar enhancement to their physical strengths. She would only have a few seconds before they entered the building after her. Taking the only time she had to rip the tool from the ground by the long rod of a handle that made up most of her weapon. At first the pole just looked like it might have been a piece from the run down building, it was rusty with age and notched from many bites of blades. As the head broke from the cement it led the true nature of her weapon. It was what appeared to be a very old reaping scythe, blade coated in just as much rust and worn I'm notches from use. Even as she pulled the blade from from the cracking cement the feeling of being watched came over her and in the same instance the air around her started to warm into a blaze. Barely able to react in time she saved herself from a full on ignition by condensing the air into water before freezing it between her and the blast. This only saved her from the burn not the force it created which forced her against the wall with a bounce from the impact. Stumbling with her scythe barely held trying to turn to her enemies as her bruised body tried to keep up with the damage she was quickly sustaining. Now cornered in the building by the three men if you could call them that any more. Watching them carefully now as she would only have a few minutes if that left to fight, counting that she didn't sustain any more major damage. As she began to focus more and more on her opponents she snapped into her battle trance. Everything seemed to lag slightly in their movements as she could see the tension in their muscles giving her a slight edge to dodge as a fork of lightning was flung at her. Obviously new converts as a aged one would have been able to stop her before he had gotten this far. What they didn't know was what she was compared to them which gave her the advantage now. As the bolt crackled out through the air she made her move knowing they would have a slight delay in reaction. Using what of her abilities she could now in a trade off for power over healing. Enhancing her speed enough to turn her movements into blinks for the untrained eye. Just as she hoped they didn't know she would turn on them like this at such speeds after seeming crippled. As she seemingly warped up towards them they only got a split second to react before the arc of the blade came into contact with the lightning user. The other two had the time to react enough to get away from the arc since she used the counter advantage to tag the one.

They were awe struck with this first attack as the rusted blade sliced through the shoulder bone with gently ease. Though this wasn't the true surprise for them. Backing away quickly as they watched what should have been a spray of blood before a regeneration if the limb. Instead the blood was pulled into the blade of the scythe, in turn the rust started to flake away to reveal shining metal under. In screaming pain and terror the user of lightning was beyond stubbed as this was something that never happened in his time as a convert. As the other two prepared to use the range of their powers the girl took the short time she had to deliver a killing blow at the max range. Having set the length of the handle in the wounded shoulder before dashing back to avoid a ignition. This action let the blade catch the neck as she backed away letting the head roll from his shoulders. It was odd for them to see the blood pool towards her blade. No regeneration was going to come as they used their blood to recover just as she did. With one down the fire spreader fought now for his life instead of for the prey. He tried to say something but to her it was in a foreign tongue, most likely the native tongue of this world. She had no time to decipher or the proper focus as she was only thinking of the fight. Only giving a small smirk to him to help hide how weak she really was at this point. At this point she still had no clue what the last power was. She had to keep focus on the ignition times though with this one being on guard now. While she was farther away he would ignite the air around her, when closing in close he would in turn cast up a wall of flames to push out after her. It would only be a matter of time thobefore his desperation made him falter.
