Chapter 11 Its Hero Time Again
#11 of Dusk to Dawn
"Okay then, we need to go down this corridor and into the lab on the left hand side," Alex loaded the maps to the HUD's.
As they were leaving, Alex walked up to Skye, "Hey, try not to get shot this time." He grinned and quickly pressed his lips to Skye's.
Evan's jaw dropped, not only had he just seen the two hottest thirteen year-olds he had ever met kiss, but when they were close like that he couldn't read their minds; a definite first since his own augmentation.
"You coming?" Skye snapped Evan out of his stupor.
"Huh, oh yeah," Evan chased after them.
"You ever use one of these?" Alex asked as Evan caught up with them in the hallway; handing him a small pistol.
"I know my way around em." Evan grinned as he accepted the side arm.
"The hallway that we want should be just in front of us." Spencer noted.
"Okay guys, get ready." Skye ordered.
As the three of the boys rounded the corner, they each dove into their respective positions, Spencer taking flank, Skye lead, Alex right wing and Evan took the left. Each slowly walked down the hallway trying to avoid making noise.
"Contact on radar, FoF is reading foe, engage?" Alex whispered across the com.
"Negative, let's see if they pass us," Skye commanded.
"Aye," Alex replied, taking aim to where the foe would be momentarily.
As the draconian rounded the corner it barely had time to realize what was happening, but several muffled coughs sounded and he dropped suddenly, a nice shot landing directly between the eyes.
"Keep moving, the cell block we want is on the other side of these doors." Alex recommended.
Upon reaching the door, Alex immediately took to hacking its lock and the rest of the squad took point watching for contacts.
"Umm, Skye..." Alex muttered.
"Yeah what's up?" Skye replied.
"I think they know were here," he commented nervously.
"Why do you say that?" Skye asked; when a loud alarm rang throughout the corridor they were in.
"That's why," Alex responded.
"Get that door open now, or were going to have a few holes in us when we get through it," Skye commanded.
"I'm on it," Alex replied typing as fast as he could.
Thirty seconds later, four armed Draconians rounded the corridor and began firing on the boys.
"Take them out," Skye commanded as everyone except Alex took aim and fired at them.
Three went down no problem, but one seemed to have a specialized armor on his chest, the bullets wouldn't pierce it.
"Skye, use fire," Evan shouted.
Spencer and Skye looked at each other as they dropped their guns, and thrust both arms forwards, twin streams of fire erupted from both of their hands, Skye's its usual white, and Spencer's Black.
The draconian managed to fire one more burst before being enveloped in the blaze and burning up, the bullets impacting on the wall beside Alex's head.
"Damn that was close," Alex replied as he hit the last command and the doorway opened.
"Seal this door; they're more coming down the hallway!" Spencer shouted.
Alex tapped a couple of buttons on his tablet and the two halves of the door fused back together.
"Get us inside those cells now; they're going to break through that door in no time." Skye warned.
Alex punched a few more commands into his tablet as the cell containing the kids sprung open.
"Keep the adults locked up they won't be any help to us, they're already sided with Joey." Spencer reminded him.
The four boys ran through the cell doors, looking at what they had to work with; inside the room sat six boys about fourteen or fifteen and in Joey's traditional sans clothing' set-up.
"We're here to get you guys out of this place," Alex shouted running to the first boy, who looked like he was going to cry.
"You're hurt," one of the boys commented.
"Just a flesh wound," Skye replied as he shattered the metal cuffs with his hands.
"How... How did you do that?" the boy stuttered.
"It's something I'll show you guys later, okay, just put these clothes on and let's go!" Skye replied, handing him a set of clothes from his pack.
They quickly had won the boys over, either staying in their cell or coming with them, they all chose freedom. Soon the six boys were ready to go, standing in the main lab once more.
"I've already called the prowler to come over to our location, just incase," Alex advised.
"Good call," Skye complimented.
Just as they were about to figure a way out of the lab, the massive white doors they had came through erupted into a cloud of smoke and ash.
"They've go C4," Spencer commented, as he drew his gun once more.
About the entire lab staff was now armed and standing in the door way, each holding their own shiny gun.
"I'm assuming you boys don't have much trouble around here," Alex mocked.
"Surrender now or we will kill all of you." The leader shouted.
"Well then it's a fight," Spencer replied, dropping a small ball on the ground.
"There is no way we can take all of them without loosing at least one kid here," Skye reminded.
"All right then, we blow our way out, the prowler has a grav lift target lock on the kids we just need to make a hole and guard them till then, ETA is one minute." Alex suggested.
"Okay guys; Spencer open the shield, Alex, get ready to morph!" Skye shouted, stripping the front of his leg plates off.
Spencer pressed a button on his wrist and just as the shield wall erupted from the sphere, the Draconians opened fire.
"All right let's do this!" Alex shouted, his naked body matching Skye and Spencer's.
The kids and Evan stood there in awe as the three boys erupted into balls of fire; the heat they threw off tripped a number of the labs fire controls and set off an automatic sprinkler system.
As the flames died down, three dragons now stood in the place of the boys, their scales shining with a bright intensity.
"Wow how did they do that?" One boy asked.
"Well soon you guys will too," Evan replied, thinking about what he had heard about the morph project.
"Get ready to go!" Skye shouted back to them, his anthro form shining as he inhaled and shot a stream of white fire over the shield wall and at the draconians.
"That took four out," Alex informed as he shot a ball of sparkling blue flames next, coating a few more guards.
"We need to open the roof," Spencer shouted.
The three dragons took aim and each shot a jet of fire at the roof; the heat and intensity of the fire started to vaporize the metals and concrete and slowly the light of day began to shine through the smoke.
Skye and the others stopped melting the roof and returned their attentions to the draconians still firing at them.
"Shields down to 55%, Prowler's ETA, twenty seconds." Alex informed.
Alex and the others kept shooting bursts of flames at the enemy, while carefully watching the counter on the shield drop below 10%.
"The Prowler won't make it in time; the shield will fail before then!" Skye shouted.
The three dragons stepped backwards, surrounding the boys as the blue amber shield flashed red and exploded.
Bullets severed the cloud of smoke left by the smoldering generator, impacting on Skye, Spencer and Alex, some bouncing off, others slipping through their scale defense.
The Prowler's dark shadow suddenly cut out the light coming down the man made sky light, as the green beam of light latched on to each boy and Evan.
As the boys rose off the ground, the dragons continued to shoot bolts of flames at the men, while flapping their massive wings to blow debris into their eyes and guns.
A second later and the boys were on the ship; "Alex get up there, Spencer you follow." Skye commanded.
They each nodded and took off into the sky, transforming back to humans above the ramp extended from the ship, Leaving Skye in mid-flight as he approached the ramp also.
"Skye, look out!" Spencer shouted.
Skye had enough time to look behind him to see a modified plasma mortar on the ground before it burst into the air, erupting a short distance from him. Several razor shards of steel and plasma shrapnel impacted on Skye as he was thrown into the air further, caught by the Prowler's grav lift and pulled towards the ship, morphing back as he went.
As soon as Skye was aboard, the ship took off at top speeds, quickly making a sharp 75o angle, pointing straight up and into the atmosphere. It was over in seconds, the rough bouncing feel of atmosphere quickly passed as they entered orbit, slowing down slightly.
Inside the Prowler Skye was coming to, covered in bloody gashes, small bits of metal sticking out of his skin; he delicately sat back against the bulkhead.
"Why is it that every time we go on a rescue mission we look like we should be dead afterwards?" Skye asked a small grin on his face as he began to pull shrapnel from his body.
"Well that's because if we were to rate the danger on our missions out of ten stars we would be running at a twenty per mission." Spencer laughed as he sat down in the pilots' chair.
"This ones stuck," Skye groaned as he pulled on a shard of metal protruding from his abdomen.
"I'll help you," one of the boys spoke up, walking over to kneel in front of Skye.
"I'm Justin," he flashed his perfect white teeth as he spoke.
"Skye, and please to meet you," Skye laughed.
"Let me try," Justin suggested, taking a hold of the metal and pulling.
"Arrrgh," Skye muttered in pain.
"I'm sorry!" Justin frowned, as he quickly apologized.
"No, it's okay, just pull out quickly, that's all," Skye encouraged.
"Okay," Justin replied, pulling the metal once more, eliciting another muffled cry from Skye. He pulled hard and quickly and with a soft gushing sound, he ripped the metal free of Skye.
"Oh my god, Skye I'm so sorry," Justin cried, looking at the large gash that the shrapnel had left behind and the widened gouge where he had pulled the wrong way.
"It's okay, look." Skye said pointing to the wound.
The blood quickly dried and a white flame licked across the wound leaving behind nothing but healthy skin.
"Wow, that's amazing!" Justin grinned, standing up.
Skye had to fight to keep his mind focused on pushing the metal out of his body, but it was extremely hard to do so when he just caught a glimpse of what was on Justin's mind; Skye and himself laying on a bed together, Skye riding him hard.
Justin walked back over to the other boys, sitting down, clearly hiding a hard-on, and began to strike conversation with them.
"That was a pleasant view," Alex called back from the front of the drop ship.
"Yeah, go figure me eh?" Skye called back.
There was a sudden shattering sound as the plasma propelled missile impacted and the detonated on the Prowler's shields, followed by them collapsing around the ship.
"We've lost shields!" Spencer reported.
"Try to get them up, Alex get me feet wide." Skye calmly ordered.
"This is Shock troop Alpha, Skye requesting immediate back-up, Draconian fleet from planet, engaging drop ship." Skye called.
"This is the Shadow of Intent, we ready you," Blake's voice cracked across the com speakers inside the drop ship.
"Blake, you want to get these guys off of us please?" Skye replied, a hint of humor in his voice.
