Chapter 16: Day of Shopping

Goldenrod City was the first place that they’d reached that felt like a legitimate city, particularly compared to places like Celadon and Saffron in Kanto. It stretched north and south, east and west, and it had two massive buildings that dominated the skylines that held his attention in a big way. Jared looked between the radio tower in one direction and the giant shopping center in the other, tapping his foot in indecision.
“Why are we waiting? Let’s go, let’s go!” Croconaw said, hopping in place impatiently.
“I’m just figuring out where we want to go first.”
“Come ooooon, let’s just go to the big one.”
“You might have noticed that there’s two big ones.”
“Then do the one that’s closer. Come ooooon, I’m bored.”
He chuckled. There was definitely some teenage attitude in Croccy since the evolution. It wasn’t too surprising, either, considering the way that Pokémon changed when they went from one shape to another. There were Pokémon that never evolved and kept a similar temperament, but it was always interesting to see just how they changed when they went from one form to another. There was always a difference, some sort of new set of instincts that informed their old personality, and it meant that they were always the same and different at the same time.
Wonder what you’re going to be like when you hit the next one, he thought. If you’re anything like the three Pokémon that Oak gave out, then you have one more shape to go for.
Shaking his head at the thought, he pulled himself back to the moment. The shopping center was the closer one, and that was probably the better one to try, now that he thought about it. Shrugging, he nodded at the big building.
“Alright, Croccy, come on.”
“Yeah-yeah-yeah!”
“Just don’t start anything in there, okay?”
“Why would I do that?”
“You’ll try and play. I know you.”
“Me? Play? You’re kidding.”
He would have believed that for more than a half second if Croccy hadn’t been in front of him and started swishing his tail and hips the moment that he said that. There was a split second where he could see his Pokémon’s pucker, and he whipped his head back up, not wanting to pop a boner in public. The sudden giggle from his Croconaw didn’t help things. Croccy knew what he was doing.
“I told you, later,” he muttered.
“But what if we find a private place?”
“Mm-mmm.”
“Come on. You’ve been with all the others. I want a turn again.”
“Later.”
They crossed the street, approaching the five-story department store. As soon as they stepped inside, the cool breeze coming off the sea faded in favor of air conditioning, and both he and Croccy stiffened up at the chill that ran down their spines. It wasn’t even a fear chill, just one from how cold it was, but it was still stronger than either of them had expected right at that moment.
A receptionist waved at them from across the mostly-empty first floor, and he blinked as he realized that there was next to nothing here. One little rack at the back of the room, a few bag dispensers on the wall, the receptionist: what the hell was going on that they needed so much free space?
She must have noticed, because she chuckled.
“Sorry about this. We’re stocking a lot of things in the basement right now, so we need a clear space on the first floor. You know how it is.”
“Restocking? The basement?”
“The train station brings all kinds of things in, and that stock comes in through the underground tunnel that runs through the city. However, we also get stuff sent up from Ilex, so we need to keep space to get it through this part of the store, too. You know how that sort of thing goes.”
“I…see…”
“Can I help you with anything?”
“Yeah, um…” He shook his head. “Are there any stores selling some of the healing stuff?”
“Oh, yes. There’s basic healing items one floor up, and if you want to try some of the boosters we have, there’s more on the third and fourth floor.”
“…Boosters?”
“Oh, yes. They’re very useful for your Pokémon.”
He had a feeling that he knew what they were, and more to the point, he wasn’t going to use them if they happened to be what he was thinking about. The last thing that he needed was to get Croccy or the others hooked on X-Speed and its variants. It was a good booster, that much was true, but there were Pokémon that got so hooked on those things that they might as well have been drug addicts.
Shaking his head, he made his way to the stairs. Croccy tugged on his legs and pointed to the elevator, but he shook his head.
“Stairs.”
That way, you can’t just try and shake your butt and get me to do stuff to you in there, he thought.
Croccy grumbled, but followed along, the short-legged crocodile Pokémon following in his footsteps. Each step was more of a hop for the little guy, the three-foot-seven Pokémon barely keeping up with him on the stairs. By the time they hit the second floor, the little blue guy was huffing hard, groaning and barely walking. He looked so annoyed, too, so comically annoyed.
He bit off the chuckle that was trying to break free, shaking his head and making his way to the desk. The receptionist looked up from behind the glass panel.
“So, what can I do for you, sir?”
“Got anything better than potions?”
“We have super potions, actually. Guaranteed to do more than double the healing of any standard potion.”
“And how much are those?”
“700, please.”
More than double the healing, more than double the cost, too. He shook his head, fumbling around in his pockets. There was more money in there than he expected, but at the same time, he knew that had mostly come from the gym battles that he had gone through. It would cover just about four of those, which wasn’t that much.
I hate trainer battles, but I might not have a choice, he thought. Unless I get really lucky somewhere else.
Shaking his head, he passed the money over. The receptionist smiled, making it disappear as if by magic, before handing him four hypo-sprays. He tucked them into his bag, nodding to himself.
“Anything else, sir?”
“Yeah. Is this stuff at a mark-up here, or is it just that expensive everywhere?”
“Oh, sir, this is just as low as it gets. You’ll be paying at least another twenty percent anywhere else.”
“Fucking great…”
He sighed to himself, rubbing his forehead. So far, Pokémon Centers had been enough for their injuries, but if his journey got harder – and he had every reason to believe that it would – he’d need every super potion and more that he could get. He was not going to let his team just walk around injured the way that some trainers did.
As he put the potions away, Croccy tugged on his leg. He looked down, and he saw that the little guy was nodding towards the elevator again. He shook his head, and Croccy crossed his arms in a pout.
Persistent today…
Shaking his head, he looked back to the other stairs. The receptionist had mentioned buffers, and there was a possibility that there was something other than the X-Speed and its variants. He sighed. They might as well check.
“Come on,” he muttered.
Up they went, and he was immediately left completely unsurprised at what he saw. Little Pokémon were zipping here and there across the room, hopped up on the X-Speed, and –
Jared hit the deck as a Machop came flying through the air at him, going over his head and down the stairs. Looking over his shoulder, he saw that the small fighting-type had managed to embed himself in the wall further down, his foot pinned in place. Jared shook his head, getting back to his feet.
“What the heck? Why’d he do that?” Croccy asked.
“X-Attack, I’m guessing.”
“What’s that?”
“A pill that makes you hit harder. Like that Raticate over there is using X-Speed. Makes you faster.”
“…Can I get that?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because it’s habit forming, and you start wanting it all the time. And besides, you’re hyper enough.”
As Croccy looked like he was trying to figure out whether that was a compliment or not, Jared weaved his way between the panicking trainers and their Pokémon. There was no point in sticking around this floor for the moment, particularly not with everything that was going on. The last thing that he needed was to get hit by someone that didn’t know how to control their Pokémon, and then get blamed for what happened next. Because he had no doubt that Croccy would retaliate.
Up another floor, exhausting his Pokémon further, and they reached the other boosters. These ones, while definitely safer, were infinitely more expensive. He hissed through clenched teeth at the prices on display.
“Almost ten thousand for iron…Arceus…”
“What’s that stuff?”
“The real stuff,” he muttered, stepping out of the way as someone rather rich-looking pushed by. “That’s what you take to get stronger quickly, without fighting or training.”
“Can we get that?”
“Not unless you’re stealing money on the side, and if you are, you should have told me.”
“Awwww.”
“It is what it is.”
Still, it might be worth remembering that they did sell that stuff here. While it wasn’t that much better than dosing them on the various x-drugs, at least this stuff lasted. It was still one of those scams in a way, because it was never as good as a Pokémon that was raised without using them at all, but it was something of a treat to them nonetheless. And it didn’t hurt them or cause addictions.
“One more floor,” he said.
“And then we can take the elevator?”
“We can take it back down, yes.”
“Yeah-yeah…”
They went up to the top floor, and he stopped, staring right at the first thing that he saw around the corner.
“You’re kidding me…”
It was a vending machine, almost an exact copy of the one that they had back in Celadon City. He ran over to it, ran his fingers down the side, half-dreading, half-expecting what he was going to see, and he was right.
“Oh, damn it…”
“What? What’s wrong?”
“I should have come up here first. This stuff tastes better and works better…and it’s cheaper…”
Lemonade, clear water, everything up here was worth giving to Pokémon as well for healing stuff, but they were infinitely cheaper than the potions that were down on the second floor. Fucking hell. He should have come up here first, checked the whole building before buying something downstairs.
As he fought the urge to thump his head against the vending machine, Croccy slid up beside him. For once, the Croconaw was surreptitious as he reached up to Jared’s crotch, rubbing it slowly with just one hand, and one finger of that hand.
“Elevator?”
“…Fine.”
“Mmm.”
“But no fun in there.”
“Come oooooon!”
“Later.”
#
They were out of the shopping center, and he was still feeling rather sore about the fact that he had been bilked out of so much money. 2,800 wasn’t exactly a small amount, and he didn’t have much left in his pockets after paying that much out. Avoiding all the fights with other trainers meant skipping out on a lot of money, and he wasn’t finding enough stuff to sell to make up the difference at the moment.
He’d have to do more of a scavenger hunt sometime, or find a way to make up the money. Considering all the ways that he knew to make money were rather illegal, he doubted that was going to work.
Still, at least they were getting what they needed. He kept one hand on Croccy’s pokéball as they walked across town, heading to the radio tower. The little guy kept looking up at him, narrowing his eyes every time that he thought Jared wasn’t looking, almost like he was trying to think of some kind of plan. Jared didn’t let that get to him, and instead just kept tapping the ball, reminding his Pokémon what it meant if he decided to behave badly.
After all, this was a treat to both of them. No point in keeping it up if the little guy was going to be a brat.
They walked up to the great metal structure of the radio tower, and both of them were rather impressed by it. Other than the department store, it was the tallest building that either of them had seen since the start of their adventure, rising over the area. The radio waves were so strong that, now that they were close up, he could almost feel it vibrating through him. He wondered how anyone could actually live close by.
He heard the broadcast through several different speakers and communicators that people were carrying around, too. Poke-Gears, he thought they were called. Something worth remembering.
Jared was considering heading in, seeing what it would cost to get one, when something else caught his eye. A flash of black, no more, but it was enough to stop him and send him scurrying to a nearby bench, dragging Croccy with him.
“What? What’s going on?” Croccy asked.
“Hush.”
“But –”
“Hush!”
He kept his head down, looking up through his bangs as they fell over his face. No sooner had he gotten comfortable, seated and keeping just out of sight, than he saw where the black had come from. Two guys in black pants, black jackets, and black ties stepping out of the radio tower held his attention. If it was just that, he might have thought that they were just some upper-class people paying the tower a visit.
But they carried familiar briefcases. Big ones, bulky, with a surreptitious R on the side of them. He recognized the cases as belonging to Rocket Execs, which meant that either the tower was under their control, or they were organizing a plan that involved the radio tower. Either way, going inside wasn’t a good option at that point.
If Proton had been around, he would have been more worried about being recognized, but neither of them looked like someone that he had worked with during the old days. Nor did they look like the sort of guys that Proton would have easy access to in order to share information. He should be okay as long as he didn’t draw attention to himself.
They passed by, muttering to each other.
“They’re still so stubborn.”
“All it would need is one broadcast. We can wait for that.”
“At that cost? It’d be cheaper to just take it.”
“And more stupid. Let’s wait. Just a little longer.”
They kept walking on, and he shook his head. They were obviously not paying that much attention, but the Execs never did. He waited until they were well out of earshot before slowly breathing out, shaking his head.
“Okay, we’re not going in there.”
“What’s going on?”
“Team Rocket. They’re up to something here, too.”
“Is that bad?” Croccy asked.
“Could be. Depends on what they try to do, and how stupid it is this time.”
Shaking his head, he decided it would be smarter to take care of things here later, well after the Rockets were gone. And there was still some curiosity about the underground, the tunnel that the woman at the shops had mentioned. She said that the other entrance was on the north side of the city, and they were almost there. Might as well go and take a look.
#
The Underground Tunnel, as it was so labeled on the house that was near the train station, was not that hard to find. It was, however, barely lit. Not dark enough to need to use Flash to see where they were going, but badly enough lit that it was something of a risk just walking down the main hallway. He glanced left and right, trying to see where anything might be hiding in the shadows, but he mostly just saw shadows.
Croccy stayed at his side as they walked down the corridor, following the tracks in the dust that were left from cargo rollers. It wasn’t as interesting as he had hoped, he had to admit, and he was right on the verge of suggesting that they go back when a sudden burst of light caught his attention. Jared stopped, still in the shadows, watching as someone rolled up several steel grates between the tunnel and some side corridor.
“What the heck is that?” Croccy asked.
“No idea…Wanna check it out?”
“Better than more walking.”
He nodded, making his way over to the new corridor. The guy opening it up turned to look at him, adjusting a black leather jacket as he did.
“Hey, you guys are new. What brings you to the Underground Shops?”
“That’s what this is? More shops?”
“Hey, you want something, Goldenrod’s the place to buy it. Naughty or nice, this city’s the place to go.”
“…What do you mean, naughty or nice?”
“Let’s just say that the Daycare’s not the only place you can go to get your freak on, okay?”
Jared’s eyes went wide at that, and the other guy quickly held up his hands.
“Hey, hey, we don’t do the thing here. We just…you know…sell stuff for the people that want to do it. Nothing shady about that.”
“…Right. And you’re operating out of an underground, barely-visible shop because…”
“Hey, just because it’s not shady doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be a mob if we did it openly. Look at how you just reacted.”
He would give them that one. It wasn’t something that he particularly liked, but they weren’t selling Pokémon, just the stuff to do things with them. And…despite himself, he was rather curious just what kind of things they had in there. He looked around the guy in the leather jacket, only for him to step in front of him again.
“Hey, hey. You’re only getting in if you’re buying something. You want to get in, you show me that you got the cash to actually purchase something.”
“You’re kidding me. I don’t even know what you have.”
“Yeah, but you know you want it. I saw that look.”
“Hmmph.”
“Course, you can just keep walking, if you’re going to be like that.”
The annoying thing was, he was more curious than he wanted to admit. He had enjoyed…relations…with Croccy and the others, but there were things that he had started fantasizing about doing with them, particularly after Jim had helped him past the worst of his guilt on it. If he was going to do some of those, then he needed something that would add to the options that he had.
“Fine.”
He held out his wallet, showing that he had about 700 left. The other guy nodded to himself.
“Go on in.”
He did, and Croccy followed. It was a short corridor leading to four different shops. One was a restaurant, or at least, some sort of fast-food diner sort of place, judging by the smells that were coming from inside. If he’d had more money, he might have been tempted, but as it was, he knew that he’d need to stick to the free meals that the Center put out. Shaking his head, he took a quick turn and slid into the first shop on the left.
It was…quite extensive, to put it mildly. There were masks all along the wall that looked like various versions of sensory deprivation masks. There were condoms that were made to shield someone’s groin from electricity, acid, and other things. There were sprays to give one resistance to heat or cold when they were too close to Pokémon that went to the extreme for that. There were ropes and chains, there were cock rings for humans and Pokémon, and there were all sorts of other toys.
He blinked as he picked up what looked like a riding crop, but with something down in the tip that he didn’t quite recognize. Croccy leaned in, touching it with a claw, only to suddenly withdraw his hand.
“Ow! It shocked me!”
“…Electric crops…”
They had toys that were set up to start bringing bits of pleasure and pain to different Pokémon based on their actual types. Now that was interesting. The idea of a water-type getting teased with something like this, getting a good zap to go with the bludgeon hit, would probably please some of the more masochistic Pokémon out there.
But he wasn’t a sadist. He wasn’t going to hurt them when they were having fun, not unless they really, really, really asked him to. So far, none of them had seemed at all interested in that, and he was fine with going with the assumption that none of them actually were.
However, there were other toys in the store, too. There were anal beads that looked like they could be inflated or shrunk, which Croccy looked at with some fascination. There were little eggs that might be pushed into a hole for buzzing, vibratory purposes. There were powder stimulants, and he wondered just how that would make Lurch feel, if he could help the little guy’s mouth feel like it could get pleasure from it rather than just fucking it.
Then there were the Pleasure Balls.
He stopped at the desk at the far end, staring at the pokéballs that hung in strings by the desk. They looked very different to the average ball. Rather than being one color on one side and another color on the other, or having letter markings for the better balls, these ones were a full red, looking like they were more like a naughty ball than a proper one. He hesitated to ask, but the clerk looked at him with such interest that he felt he had to.
“What the hell are these?” he asked, picking up one of the red balls.
“Heh, those are Pleasure Balls.”
“Yes, I can see the name, but what the hell do they do?”
“You’ve never used them before?”
“I wouldn’t be asking if I had.”
“Oh, man. These are perfect for those Pokémon that get a little frigid, but they’re great for any of them, really. See, you use this to replace your usual pokéballs. Just toss it at a Pokémon that you already know, and they get pulled in, just like normal, see? But when they’re inside, their data is super-charged with erotic sensory information. Basically, they constantly feel like they’re getting teased, getting close to cumming. You can set the ball to allow them that or to keep them on edge the whole time, too. All you gotta do is hit this button on the bottom for chastity mode, and press it again to take them out of it.”
“…Feels like you’re kinda letting the ball do all the work,” Jared muttered.
“Yeah, it does. I want yours, not a ball’s,” Croccy muttered, and he was very glad that the clerk could not understand the Croconaw at that moment.
He wasn’t sure that he liked the idea of the Pleasure Balls, if he was honest. Not just for the fact that it felt like the lazy way forward, much like the X drugs, but it also felt like that would be a way to break the minds and bodies of the Pokémon that he had. It felt like it would turn them into something that he didn’t want them to be. Lustful creatures rather than the friends that he had gathered so far, and that just didn’t sit right with him.
The idea of proud Shimmer becoming some lusty, sex-craving bimbo of a bird just didn’t feel right. The idea of Snugs losing his happy, silly demeanor to become some dick-craving snake just hurt him down to his soul. No. That wasn’t going to happen.
“I’ll pass, but…I’ll take a few of the other things.”
“Take your time.”
#
They left the store with the anal beads, a few vibrating eggs, and a cock ring. The last one was for him rather than for the other Pokémon, and it was supposed to have a few options to it that might make things a little more enjoyable for all of them. He planned to use it later, when they were in the next city, or when they were in the wilderness. It would give him some stamina, he hoped, to keep up with more than just one of them.
As they made their way towards the exit, though, he spotted something in the dark. Jared paused, then went to the shadows, kneeling down to look at the dusty thing that was half-buried in the darkness. Croccy followed.
“What’s that?” the Croconaw asked.
“Looks like some sort of pouch,” Jared said, picking it up. “And it’s full of something.”
He opened it, glanced inside, and blinked. There were coins in there. Lots and lots of gold coins, but they didn’t look like anything that he could spend. He turned it around, looking at it in the limited light of the underground tunnel, and saw a logo on it. It had a GC printed on one side of the coin, and a slot machine on the other.
Gambling wins.
Now that had potential. That had a lot of potential, actually. He looked down at Croccy.
“Uh-uh. We’re going back to the Center. I’ve been good. I want THIS.”
He poked Jared firmly in the dick, and the human bit off a gasp at the way that it pushed his cock right up. Gritting his teeth for a moment, he shook his head with a smile and put the coin pouch in his pack.
“That’s fair enough. You have been very good.”
“Yes. I have.”
“Alright. Let’s get back to the Center. You can have…that…soon.”
“Yay!”
#
It didn’t take that long to get back there, and the nurse said that the Drowzee and Abra would take a little bit longer to be completely fixed up. He got her to commit to about an hour left before they’d be able to be taken back, and that was fine with him. It meant that they wouldn’t be interrupted for at least forty-five minutes, and that should be plenty of time for at least a quick session.
Croccy had rushed up the stairs almost as soon as they got back, and the door was just shutting when he followed the little guy up. Jared shook his head, but nevertheless blushed at his Croconaw’s eagerness. The way that his first Pokémon was so eager for…well, getting dicked…it was kinda hot, and the fact that he wanted it from him…
He likes me…a lot.
Jared rubbed the back of his head as he walked up to the door. He’d never really had a human relationship, but this was something similar, he imagined. The way that they would want to be around each other, the way that they cared for each other, the way that they tried to make each other happy: it was how relationships worked, right? They did things for each other, and they…they worked hard for it.
Am I…
No, he probably didn’t want to think of it going that far. He shook his head, opened the door –
And found himself staring at Croccy, the Pokémon on his belly and thrusting his ass back just a bit. It wasn’t being on all fours, but rather being on his belly, his tail up and his bigger butt pushed backwards. One hand groped at his cheeks, pulling them apart to show his pucker, while the other gripped the pillow.
Croccy looked back at him, and then dropped his eyes down. Jared knew that the Pokémon was staring at his growing boner, and for once, he didn’t try and hide it. He stepped inside, shutting the door behind him, and he slowly undid his pants, pulling the zipper down and then letting his pants and underwear hit the floor.
“Mmmmph…you haven’t been that hard for a while…”
“I…don’t feel so guilty this time,” he admitted.
“Does that mean we’re going to really do it? Not just me riding you?”
“Well, you’re bigger now, so I don’t have to be quite so careful. And…I could use the practice…”
He walked up behind his Croconaw, admiring the heftier curves that the chubby crocodile Pokémon had in this form. It was nowhere near the slight body that the Totodile had had, and he could tell that this one could take what he dished out and then some. The way that Croccy had grown made that very clear.
The toys would come into play before long, but for now, he just wanted to see what that hole could do. He slowly edged his finger into that pucker, and Croccy clenched down almost right away. The blue boy’s toes curled, and his tail went up all the higher, his cock pointing backwards as it dropped from its slit.
“Mmmmm…Master…”
“Mmmph…”
“Come on…do more…”
“Oh, I will…I will…”
