The sun was receding behind the horizon, creating long shadows from the trees around them. The cloak of darkness amidst the ancient forest encapsulated the two of them. The sounds of a young man and the pleading croons of the sapphire dragoness trying to calm her partner were all that there was to be heard.

Saphira curled herself around her rider while he was crying his heart out, holding her muscular foreleg like his life depended on it. The mind of the dragoness was clouded by Eragon’s grief and worries, but, more importantly, by his deep love for her; there was no longer a point in hiding what he felt. Despite having revealed his feelings to her, she couldn’t help but worry that he would not recall this as the fond moment she hoped when she took a leap of faith. With a soft croon, Saphira touched his forehead, instincts telling her what should be done and without delay, she began humming a sweet melody that she heard once during their adventures.

Her voice rose and fell with the tune of the song, putting all her heart behind each sound as she began to lull her rider like a hatchling she dreamt to have one day. With her powerful yet gentle grasp, she pressed him tighter into her, wanting him to feel cared and loved despite the turmoil he was going through. Her ears listened to each whimper escaping his lips in the hopes that her effort would help to soothe his nerves.

The dragoness could not help but acknowledge the increasing pressure on her mind as she was solely focused on the one closest to her heart. With a flick of her tail, she spoke up to the probing minds with a firm tone.

“Leave us alone,” she said, raising iron walls around herself and her partner-of-mind-and-heart_._

Recalling their intimate moments from the past, Saphira moved her muzzle lower toward Eragon’s neck and soon her wide draconic tongue moved up and down in a comforting manner. Her nostrils widened with each breath, sending a warm gush of air down his chest. She picked up her melody again, humming it straight into the rider’s ears.

Soon, the sobs quietened down and tears stopped flowing down his red cheeks with only whimpers shaking his body weakly. The dragoness’ ears listened carefully, trying to read him as his mind fell silent. Taking another leap of faith, she curled her neck slowly so as not to startle the young man. A gasp left his mouth after feeling her warm lips moving in an attempt to mimic a human kiss, and her tongue flicked on his cheek. The forest almost seemed to resonate with the deep purrs of the dragoness.

“Eragon… My Little One…” a whisper of the ancient tongue, spreading into his mind_. “I love you…”_ Her eyelids clenched as she let suppressed feelings flood through their bond freely.

The rider’s head was filled with bliss as her thoughts, hopes, and burning love grasped him tightly. With a shaking hand, he grasped her chin to lock his gaze with brilliant sapphire eyes, covered with a glimmering sheen.

“I… I love you too…” With a nervousness that he had never known, his human lips joined her scaly ones in their first true kiss. He felt her paws squeezing him hard as she released a melodic warble, joining their minds in a loving dance. They felt one another’s pure essence, and the dragoness sensed each part of the rider as he could feel the very tip of her claws and tail. A tear ran down his cheek as he pulled back with lips wide from ear to ear in pure happiness, but then it fell a bit in a moment of doubt.

_ _ This doubt disappeared when Saphira smooched his lips absentmindedly.

“My Love…” she said, her voice shaking_, “I… I have been astray in the darkness for so long and with no way out. Every time I felt it was the end, you were there showing me the light and giving me the strength to keep going. I thought I would never find what my heart truly desired… and yet it had always been by my side.”_ She pressed her muzzle under his chin, letting out a whimper.

He quickly embraced her as best as he could, sending her his thoughts of deep affection then spoke up.

“My Saphira… My beautiful Saphira…” He wrapped his arms around the dragoness’ chin, touched by her words. Trying to gather his thoughts, the rider began petting her with gentle strokes of his fingertips on the smooth scales. They followed the curve of the draconic jaw back and forth, pausing to occasionally apply pressure like in a massage. Meanwhile, Eragon held her mind dearly, lulling her as she did a moment ago. He could tell that the confession had taken a great deal from her; she was trembling as she had been back when the storm had nearly taken her during their first voyage.

“I… You have always been the dearest to me, Saphira… You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and nothing will change that. I think I’ve always known… only now do I understand.” Eragon’s hand moved back and forth along the side of her muzzle, making her croon. With the musical sound teasing his ears, he continued.

“When I saw you defeated on the Talita’s deck, something broke in me… a door that kept the truth about us since… our first free time after leaving Carvahall…”

“Leona Lake…” Saphira whispered.

“While playing in the lake, I saw you not as a dragon, but rather as a person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, sharing the joy of life and adventures, for better and for worse,” he said as the memories of simpler times spread across their bond. “There was also the prophecy Angela told.” _ The rider slowed down his caressing of the dragon to halt trying to steady his breath._

“Did you know the first person I thought of was you? I wish I followed my instincts then, heh.” He stopped as redness spread on his cheeks_. “Since then, I saw you in a different light, but I didn’t know what it really meant.”_

“Little One? I’d seen you as my hatchling. I felt a strong urge to protect you at any cost and I loved you like a mother, but… I had my moments when that belief was challenged. Firstly, Triana wanting to exploit you for her own goals.” A deep rumble shook her throat in disgust toward that female_. “And that… left me puzzled for quite a bit.”_

Slowly, she left his grasp to look into the distance in silence for a moment. “Do you remember the first night in Du Weldenvarden? When I was gone for a while?”

“I… I do,” Eragon said as memories of worry flooded his mind_._

“Do you realize…” She paused, trying to put the right words together_. “Ah… Under the spell song of elves, I could have flown away anywhere to look for a mate but… I came back to you.”_ The memory of her burning arousal entered his mind, making him take a sharp breath. “Sorry,” she said, apologizing for the sudden rush of primal emotions.

“I think that was when it all began for me, even though I was confused after my mind was cleared from that mind-fogging spell.” She curled her neck to look straight into his eyes. “However, when I met Glaedr-elda… I came to the conclusion that it was him my heart desired instead of you… then I forgot what I felt that night.”

“It seems we were both confused by our feelings for so long. Meanwhile, I was… infatuated with Arya.” The regretful grimace appeared on his face, recalling those memories_. “My heart was longing for someone to love and my human mind turned to the elf.”_ Sadness spread across their bond.

“Don’t blame yourself, my dear. It is natural for two-legged people to look for a mate among themselves.”

“Saphira, it may take some time for both of us to get used to it but… there is nothing wrong about us, our new relationship– nothing at all,” he said, rubbing her smooth cheek with a slight smile.

She affectionately bumped his cheek. “We have already admitted our love to one another in Doru Araeba, haven’t we, Little One?” He hugged her soul tightly, “We just didn’t know that there was more to it, my dear,” she added in a melodic voice.

A gentle gust of draconic breath warmed the rider’s face as his mind pushed away all sounds other than what his beloved dragon made. He saw her gaze doting around, trying to figure out his thoughts like a puzzle, as a wave of calmness and warmth spread across their bond.

He wondered if that was what love felt like, sharing a quiet moment with someone without the need to speak up because they both fully understood one another. Slowly, his forehead touched her nose, hearing how she took his scent each breath.

They stayed like this for a moment until her tongue slipped through her lips, giving him a tender lick and purring deeply for him. However, the intimate moment didn’t last as the dragoness paused like she had been struck by an arrow, and the purr died momentarily as a wave of guilt flowed through their bond again. It started with a gentle shift of her muzzle before pulling away from his warm hands. The dragoness couldn’t meet his gaze as she thought about what needed to be brought up.

Glancing at him, she spoke up. “Eragon… I need to talk about it… Firnen.” A visible shudder went through her body_. “When I met him and saw you with Arya… I… I thought he was my only chance to have a mate. There was a strong urge clouding my mind, my body was on fire right before instincts took over.”_ A painful grunt escaped her maw as she clenched her eyes tightly, looking away from the rider in shame. “I completely forgot the hard lesson I had learned at the Stone of Broken Eggs and took him as a mate… knowing him for just a few minutes.”

Her tail swung from side to side in agitation_._ Her muscles were tensed as though she were about take-off and escape from the situation altogether. “But… it was not worth it in the end… because…. because…” Every single word was said with enormous pain, and she released a mournful snarl. Then she was silenced as her muzzle was firmly pressed into Eragon’s chest. His arms wrapped around her protectively. In her distress, the dragoness didn’t notice the rider kept his attention solely on her emotions, and before she knew it, he was kneeling. A shuddering breath escaped her throat, pushing her head more into him to escape from the truth she was not ready to reveal to him yet.

“My love,” he began sweetly, “I don’t blame you for what happened. Neither of us knew what was between us back then…” A sad whimper was her only reply_._ “Know that I love you, no matter what. I will not force you to talk about things that cause you pain but I am always here to share your worries to help you because we are one.” He finished, rubbing her ears softly.

Every word was imprinted in her memory, pushing the dark clouds away from her soul. She tried to control her breath, feeling his gentle caress over sensitive spots. There was no way around it; sooner or later, Eragon and others would ask about the truth but, for now, only the present mattered. Shifting her attention back to Eragon, a quiet croon thanked him before the dragoness lost herself in the warmth between them.

Slowly, her muzzle shifted into his embrace, spreading the scent over her scales that gave her sense of safety and home. Her nostrils pressed on his lower abdomen took the smell in a steady, deep breath, and, before she could think, the dizziness made her mind gradually lose focus. Her muscles relaxed as the warmth began to spread across her entire body. Soon, the soft lips of her precious mate left gentle kisses on her eyebrow. Absentmindedly, her nose moved lower to stop above the man’s groin where the addicting scent was the strongest. With a shudder, her jaw parted, letting her tongue slide out a bit. At that moment, her whole body was shivering in need as the female’s instincts overtook her reason.

Eragon slowly came back to his senses as the dragoness was close to his sensitive place. Red spread across man’s cheeks as he felt the wave of draconic arousal getting stronger and stronger with each passing moment.

“Uhh… Shapira?”

“Yes, Love?” His eyes went wide hearing her voice hidden behind a haze of burning desire.

“I think you need some fresh air, Vindr sharjalví!” After a moment, the female’s lust began to disappear, then he felt Saphira pulling back from his groin.

“What? Oh! I’m sorry, Little One!” she whimpered in embarrassment.

“No worries, uhmm I don’t think we are ready for that yet,” he immediately fell silent like his mind just caught up with the implication of what was said.

The dragon curled her head to silently look straight into Eragon’s eyes. The redness slowly came to his cheeks and then his gaze faltered as he was unable to keep contact with visibly shocked Saphira.

“Sorry,” With a weak voice, the man tried to cover his misstep, giving her a shy glance.

With a subtle shift in their bond, the dragon leaned forward pressing the warm nose onto Eragon’s cheek, giving him a gentle nuzzle. She couldn’t see it but a small smile appeared on his face, relieved she let that slide.

“We will figure our relationship out,” feminine, soothing tone accompanied by soft purrs worked like a balm on the troubled mind but it didn’t last long as the dragoness spoke up again.

“I can feel our furry friend coming this way. They must have been worried since I didn’t let them contact me for a while,” she looked at Eragon with a quizzical fire in her eyes, showing no regrets.

With a warm chuckle, he stood up “I can imagine Umaroth-elda’s frustration, so let’s meet up with Blodgharm halfway, shall we?”

Saphira replied in a grunt as she leaned her whole body upwards in a stretching pose, presenting the draconic body to the one she loves.

“Show off,” he chimed, hearing her laughter in the bond then added. “Will you walk by my side, my love?”

“Always.”

Eragon felt different, for lack of a better word, while going back to the camp with Saphira at his side. He couldn’t stop giving her a glance as though to make sure what occurred between them was true and was not another daydream. All his worries were quenched as his gaze met sapphire eyes sparkling brightly with life and adoration. Absentmindedly, the man’s lips moved up in a happy grin as a draconic purr resonated around him.

Soon, his gaze moved lower on the dragon’s scales toward her paws as they moved with such grace that every step felt like the move of a skilled dancer than a few-tonnes-heavy dragoness. A sudden nudge of his shoulder took him out of his trance followed by a few grunts; Eragon averted his sight, feeling the warmth on his cheeks. Taking a quick glance, he gave her nudge back. A quiet warble escaped her maw as the female’s mind began to stalk his across their bond.

“I can play your game but I do not think you can win this one, hmm?” She curled her neck back a bit.

“Now, now, mercy, o’ mighty queen,” he said, making some distance between them

“That’s better,” she poked him with her wingtip.

“You always need to have— Oh, greetings Blodgharm.” The arrival of the elf stopped their playful bickering.

“Shadeslayer, Bjartscular, we began to worry; our Masters were not able to contact you at all.”

“Oh…” the pair replied simultaneously, lowering their mental walls and bracing for impact.

“Saphira Brightscales, Eragon Shadeslayer, I am glad you could join us finally.” The tone of mild irritation and urgency resonated across the link as the silver eldunari addressed the pair. “We are leaving the shore soon, the elves requested your help to pick up the last crates so we can withdraw to the safety of the Talita_.”_

Blodgharm looked at them with a friendly grin, “Don’t worry, my friends, we are all a bit tense now.”

Simultaneously, the pair shared a glance at one another, feeling the slight panic affecting them both as a brief mention of the situation was brought up. They didn’t notice the elf walk away a bit and look behind his shoulder. With a quiet hum, he regarded the pair, moving the gaze from one to another.

“Are you coming?” he added. He swore he could hear Saphira’s meep as she flinched with the rider. Quickly, they caught up with him, going down the path in silence. In the back of his mind, Blodgharm could help but wonder what occurred between those two in their absence from the camp.

“Careful, Saphira!” the rider gripped the saddle holders hard as the dragoness angled herself to land, holding a crate awkwardly in her front paws.

A puff of smoke obscured his vision, “I’m doing my best!”

With strong wing beats, she descended, using her hind legs to absorb the impact of her heavy body on the deck. The force made Eragon clench to the saddle tighter, feeling dragoness stepping on her feet awkwardly in a human-like posture and trying to keep her balance before she could sit down. A sharp warble escaped Saphira’s maw as she suddenly leaned forward, dropping the cargo instinctively.

She clenched her eyes, expecting an unpleasant crack of wood but she heard a dull thud as her paws hit the deck. Confused, the dragoness curled her head upside down but the crate wasn’t there. Then her sapphire eyes caught sight of it levitating above the ground.

“Oof, that was close,” Eragon spoke up, putting the crate down.

“Sorry. “

“Hey, it is not like such a box is comfortable to carry around,” he patted her neck reassuringly while elves began unpacking goods stored in a wooden crate.

He let his gaze wander through the entire deck, giving a glance at their companions doing their daily duties without complaint. Behind him, the dragoness stepped from one paw to another impatiently. It seemed the rider needed a small reminder.

Without a sound, she leaned her muzzle toward his neck as she held her breath. Her maw parted and gave him a soft nip causing Eragon to squeal like a kitten and step back from the dragoness. Quickly, the rider turned around to meet with his mount looking at him with playful shine in her eyes.

“The saddle would not leave my body on its own, my rider,” she bumped his cheek, sending a warm gush of air toward him. Rippling grunts shook her chest, seeing him red as tomatoes on cheeks.

Eragon began to open the clasps and other clamps to relieve her from the constricting straps. In no time, she was freed from the burden and she saw him carrying the saddle back to the storage. Her eyes lingered on him for a bit longer till her body let the dragoness know there were several stiff points in her muscles.

A soft whimper left her maw as she tried to stretch her spine, leaning back on her raised hips as her chest touched the wooden deck. Pleasant shivers spread through her whole body with every knot in the muscles let loose. Faintly, Saphira noticed someone dear to her heart watching every move, admiring the way her scales shimmers in the evening light.

With a cheerful croon, she stretched her elegant neck forward, rolling it carefully to get rid of troubling knots from that part of the body. Her tail swung like it had a mind on its own doing the rest. A satisfied purr left her maw, knowing Eragon tried so hard to not stare as he was involved with a small chat with one of the elves. A pleasant warmth flooded her entire body, happy for the rider’s reaction, boosting her self-esteem significantly.

At last, she got up, shaking her wings a little bit. Knowing it would take some time for him to get back, the dragoness laid down carefully then rolled on her side, exposing her belly as Saphira took a fetal position to rest. A deep breath gushed from the female as she listened to the conversation across the bond briefly.

After a moment, she lifted her paw to look down at her lower abdomen. The dragoness stared at it with longing in her eyes, thinking about the one thing she had always dreamt of. A quiet whimper escaped her maw but then laughter made her gaze locked on Eragon talking with Blodgharm. Worrying thoughts were shoved aside as his soft laugh resounded both in the air and the bond. Maybe there is still hope, after all, she thought.

She gave a glance down toward her hips then pushed her legs a bit closer to her belly as her tail moved aside, exposing her rump. The wave of faint heat reached the female's cheek, the tail flickered behind her and she wasn’t sure it was from nervousness or excitement anymore.

Talking with Blodgharm when he does not try to be incredibly serious is always a nice change,’ Eragon thought. It eased the worry of his heart having something so simple as small talk.

“Don’t you spend all the time on meditation?” he asked.

“Even though elves prefer to close their eyes and experience everything around us through magic, we’re still people, Shadeslayer,” Blodgharm accented with a bit of mocking tone, highlighting the achievement thanks to which many would see the rider as a god.

Eragon couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Fair point. One day, I need to see you on a high dose of Faelnirv.”

“It won’t be as entertaining as a certain dragon emptying a large portion of the mead supply.” A toothy grin spread across the elf’s face, seeing the rider’s priceless expression, “We have heard stories…”

“I heard that,” a bit embarrassed feminine voice resounded in their heads.

“You’d have made many men jealous, Bjartskular,” Blodgharm replied, stroking the dragoness’ vanity a bit. It seemed to work, sensing the change of her mood.

“Of course; dragons are better in every way.”

“Uhu,” a doubting tone resounded across their link from Eragon.

“Don’t doubt it, my rider, or you won’t sleep under the cover of my wings,” she withdrew, having the last word as usual.

“Well, Master Blodgharm, we need to part ways for now. There is an important matter to attend to.”

“Indeed it is. Have fun.” Without giving him a chance to reply, the elf turned around, giving the rider an encouraging look.

The deep sight left Eragon lingering at the bust work on the deck for a moment, then turned around to face his dragon. Suddenly, he held his breath at the sight in front of him.

She was laying on her side with her belly facing him with limbs curled up in the most innocent manner he had ever seen. Her front paws and legs were held close to her belly like she was trying to be as small and not threatening to approach as possible. Her wing was folded, pressed tightly to her body like she didn’t want to hide from the world. The evening sun shined on her scales’ surface just right to expose a deep blue color with a glint of orange and red thanks to the sun being low on the horizon.

As he kept getting closer to his partner, in a corner of his eyes, he caught her tail’s tip flicker, exposing Saphira’s mood while, in their bond, Eragon could feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness. Absentmindedly, his gaze wandered up her tail and suddenly his cheeks were hit with a wave of warmth as eyes caught the sight of her womanhood. A slightly parted slit under her tail exposed just for him. His blush intensified as her tail and legs shifted subtly, giving him an even better view.

Eragon quickly averted his gaze before anyone else could see him staring but then his eyes met sapphire one piercing him to the soul. It was so intense, he struggled to form a word to try to get away with this situation as he played with his hands nervously.

Like with the touch of a rod, Saphira changed the predatory gaze to her normal self with a glint of conflicting emotions. Slowly, she stretched her legs back, covering the exposed place with her tail.

At last, he kneeled next to her head still laying on the deck as she kept looking between him and far ahead in silence. Feeling still intense warmth on his cheeks, he reached out his hand and began stroking the side of Saphira’s muzzle. Fingers stroked fine scales with tenderness, providing the pair the release of tension both sought, it seemed. Her gaze softened even further as she managed to hold it on him earning a small smile from him.

Feeling his gentle strokes made the dragoness drop her eyelids while nervousness was leaving the whole body gradually. Soon, the soft croon of pleasure reached the ears of the rider entranced in the sea of blue staring at him while his hand kept moving along her jawline, sending shivers down her spine.

Slowly, she lifted her head to give a gentle nip on his jaw, catching him off-guard.

“Will you snuggle with me?” Her melodic, inviting voice echoed in his mind; he replied by giving her soul a tender hug.

Eragon turned around, seeing her paw and wing lifted in an incentive gesture; quickly, he found himself pressed into her draconic chest, wrapped by the large paws as best as possible. With a bit of shifting, Saphira’s head appeared in front of him as the wing moved above to hide them from prying eyes.

A thread of shame spread in their bond as the memory of getting caught staring at her most sacred place was recalled to his mind.

“I’m sorry,” he said, finding no reason to deny what was done.

“I should apologize, my instincts told me it was the right thing to do and I could not stop myself when I saw you, my love,” she let out a quiet growl_. “It… felt good to be desired again.”_

Judging by the swirl of emotions in their minds, she seemed to be as conflicted as him, Eragon thought.

“I… We should try to take things slowly. It is all new to us,” he hesitated for a moment, suspending his voice. “You are beautiful.”

It sounded blunt but the weight behind the words made Saphira grunt in surprise as her eyes saw his face reddening in a blush. Instinctively, she rubbed her thighs together as her paws clenched tighter around him.

“You are mine…” She crooned, feeling butterflies in her belly as eyelids dropped slowly.

The sounds of the world around them seemed to disappear as the pair nodded off to nap wrapped in a tight embrace. Their chests moved steadily, taking calm breaths in sync with one another as two souls were intertwined in rest. Meanwhile, other minds were in the middle of the heated discussion to address the immense threat that put the entire expedition into a halting spot.

“We cannot simply go back there blindly to try capturing whatever attacked them,” Gleadr chimed into a choir of the most experienced Eldunarii, arguing what action should have been taken. “You know how close we were to losing both of them if not their instincts.”

“What choice do we have, Gleadr-elda?” Umaroth replied. “We do not know the enemy nor their full abilities’ power except for what Bjartskular shared with us. We need to learn about it more”.

I will not!” the golden Eldunarii shined brighter under the influence of boiling outrage but then it darkened in sudden realization. “Eragon found a book in the town hall. Hopefully, it has some answers. People who lived there had to have encountered that threat before their town fell. I don’t want to put Eragon and Saphira in such mortal danger again when the dragoness’ mind just started to heal,” he finished with a grim tone in his voice.

“Believe me, I do not find pleasure in putting them at risk if there are other options. They grew closer to one another,” Umaroth pondered for a moment, putting Glaedr on alert, “so it would have been a shame to see that suffer.”

“I will let Eragon know to check the book as soon as possible. It’s not like we could read it on our own,” Glaedr said, changing the topic quickly.

“Indeed,” the huffing sound of a laughing dragon spread across the bond. “Please take care of it.”

“Naturally.”

Pulling out from the connection, dark clouds obscured Glaedr’s mind, sensing another expedition that would put the pair into mortal danger. He let out a frustrated growl, ‘Why could fate not leave them alone for once?!’ The thought echoed in the borders of the crystal he was living in, repeating it like a mantra to the elderly dragon. It seemed whoever orchestrated the line of time would always require Eragon and Saphira to intervene to save the world again. Maybe the dragons and riders’ abilities were also their curse since magic permeated every fleck of their world, raising new threats over and over again? Some form of sick balance they were not aware of? That question resounded in his mind. ‘I am getting old,’ he added bitterly to the storm of thoughts.

Gleadr reached out to the minds of his students, wanting to wake them up but he stopped as the dragon’s soul brushed Saphira’s faintly. Brief contact was enough for him to sense pure peace emanating from the dragoness the master hadn’t felt since he got to know her. Curiosity mixed with relief washed over him like drops of rain during the morning in Spring.

The Eldunari could only assume what occurred between them, hoping they found out the true meaning behind their bond. However, it was not the time to put his nose into personal matters but it didn’t stop him from contacting his old dragon students.

“Whatever you did, well done,” he growled in a proud tone.

“They needed a gentle push here and there,” Jiorva replied, followed by pleased hum of other young Eldunari.

“So, are they?” Gleadr asked.

“Maybe. We would not know for sure till they tell us on their own,” Jiorva said in a quiet but a bit sad tone.

“Are you alright?” Jenve tried to embrace her younger friend with warmth.

“I just miss him,” she said in a subdued tone.

“I know, my dear, I’m sure he still looks at you from above.” The black dragoness was trying to soothe the longing of her friend. Jiorva’s embarrassment spread across the bond from her sudden relapse.

“I believe the same,” Gleadr replied with warmth in his tone.

“Thank you,” other dragons sent their own thoughts of sympathy to the young dragoness.

“My friends, I brought you here because we have a great task to complete, given by Umaroth-elda. We have to prepare Eragon and Saphira for a search and capture quest of the creatures that attacked them in the town.”

The silence fell between them.

“Gladr-elda, how would we prepare the pair for such a task? We know little about the enemy,” Tinath broke the silence.

The golden Eldunari released a concerned growl, “There is one thing certain: the threat uses mental abilities to block the bond between them, targeting the biggest strength of dragon riders. Back in the old times, each pair was trained for non-mental communication but, even then, it proved to be unreliable in critical moments.”

“So… All of us would have to attempt to block their bond and figure out how to combat it, correct?” Lathine spoke up after she tried to cheer up her younger friend.

A confirming growl from their former teacher was her answer.

“And… show Eragon how he could read Saphira’s body language better,” the youngest of them, Jiorva, added in a melancholic voice.

“Precisely,” Glaedr took a glance at the sleeping couple on the deck of the Talita. Pure peace emanated from them like the life-threatening situation everyone ended up in never existed. “Let them sleep, we will try tomorrow.”

The author’s note:

ONE ETERNITY LATER…

Hello,

It’s been a long time since I published here thus I sincerely apologize for this massive delay. During this COVID craziness and finishing my studies I simply forgot to post story on this website (It was released a few months ago on fanfiction.net.) My bad. As they say, life usually has different plans for us so it was in my case. Focusing on my studies had been burning me out gradually to the point writing gave me no joy once I had. Then COVID came, making me studying from my home as growing apathy took its roots.

I decided there was no point in keeping you wait any longer thus with the massive help of my friend, Zelenal (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1999182/) (Big thanks for your work!), I wrapped up what had been written so far hence why the chapter is shorter than what I used to release for you.

*Good news is I graduated from my University the last month. and hopefully, I could reset my brain so I could find joy in writing once again as I do want to give these 2 characters a proper conclusion. *

**I hope you enjoyed it still, let me know what you think about it in reviews.

May you stay safe and healthy during this pandemic.**

**Yours

Deinas**

PS: I don’t know what the pace of update will be in the future but I will not abandon this story. A full stop.
