Chapter 8 hit the prerequisite favs in short order and, now, for the final post this month, I present chapter 9!

Our protagonist is a 19 year old college student named Kaiden Wilson, a Unity Programme graduate from Vancouver British Columbia, and the odd situation in which he is put thanks to a discovery of yet more versions of earth in the rapidly expanding multiple-reality-stretching world in which this story series takes place. Unlike on many other Earths, Plateau Earth places one visiting student with seven natives. The Viddin, as they call themselves are divided into multiple categories based on species, and overworked, over-utilized has one of each.

The time Kaiden and Tral have together isn't quite at an end, and readers now get to enjoy some of their quiet moments together and see how their relationship deepens. This is followed by some fun, playful Roost moments in the morning!

As always, thank you for reading, and I appreciate all the comments and favs I receive. This story was started as an April Fool's joke but, thanks to all the support is now into its second "book". Keep up the favs and I'll keep posting more chapters! Thanks so much for your support!

Chapter 9

While Tral was normally reluctant to use any of the Human languages he knew there was something soothing and almost hypnotic about Tral's voice when he was speaking in English. Due to the intimacy they shared, the large gryphon was unusually open about it, speaking quiet admissions of adoration and offering up little admissions about how long he had fancied Kaiden, and how he'd thought what they'd shared that night would have been all but impossible if not for the Human's interest in him, and in his willingness to use Xys, and engage in such physically intimate endeavors.

Even as Tral continued his confession and wax wistfully about future possibilities together, Kaiden, thoroughly exhausted, found himself drifting off to sleep. He didn't realize how quickly he had given over to exhaustion until he awakened with a sudden twinge of discomfort and extreme fullness, quickly replaced by a gushing emptiness, accompanied by the sudden emptying of what felt like liters of Viddin spunk from him as Tral's member finally pulled free; a moment later Kaiden felt little talons on his rump, massaging his inflamed flesh. Zithing chastised them both. "Yyy twy shyyldn't fyll yslyyp lyky thyt yn thy fytyry... yt ysn't syfy fyr Kyydyn."

If Kaiden had ever wondered just how long Xys lasted, the intense discomfort in his bowels had answered that; glancing to the data pad laying near him on the floor he winced. "I guess... I musta been out... about an hour..."

Tral nuzzled him gently with his beak. "I am sorry, Kaiden'huu... after I noticed you fell asleep I could not bring myself to separate from you. I should have known better."

Zithing waggled a single digit at Tral accusingly. "Yys yyy shyyld hyvy."

Despite himself, Kaiden couldn't help but call the little Ilsit's attention to something. "You know, Zithing... we spend a lot of time today working on pronunciation. I appreciate that you're using English, but if you're going to be learning, you should try to apply what it is you've learned."

The Drone looked at him blankly, as if he were interrupting a well-earned tongue-lashing to offer an inane comment. Letting out a long sigh, the small Lizard rolled his eyes. "I will work on vowels, and you can stop doing stupid things like falling asleep with iss'Tralyn inside you."

Despite using English, Zithing still used the honorific title of "iss" when identifying the Viddinire. Kaiden was perfectly comfortable with that, AND with the Drone's suggestion. "That sounds fair. Deal."

Staring at Kaiden with the pure business intent of a corporate lawyer, Zithing thrust a little spindly arm out, expression severe and intense as he presented his talon. "Good. Shake then, Human."

Kaiden realized it was his fault for that requirement as he'd also taught the Ilsit during the day about business agreements and how they usually concluded with handshakes. He reached out and let Zithing take hold of the first three fingers of his left hand (Zithing still needed to learn that shaking was traditionally done with the right), and then flopped back down onto Tral, yawning. "This is the time of the morning when it's impossible to say whether it's too early or too late to be up."

Tral used a talon to gently urge Kaiden further up onto his enormous body. "It is the perfect time of night to spend with you, Takket'im."

Smiling, Kaiden certainly couldn't object, and laid his head down against his lover's chest, listening to the powerful rhythmic sound of Tral's heart beat. He'd been with enough Viddin by that point to recognize the almost reflective twist and flex of the gryphon's hips to know that Tral had facilitated the easing of his member back into his sheath, which was confirmed by his furry and feathered mattress' content sigh. After a few moments, Kaiden let out a yawn, blinking a few times before he came to a realization. "I'm not sure I can sleep now."

He felt and heard Tral's head raise up off the sleeping couch against which it was laying. "Is everything alright, Kaiden'huu? Did I do something wrong?"

The Human shook his head against Tral's chest, and explained. "No... I think I'm just a little sore now, and--"

His words caught in his throat when a slippery tongue pushed into his abused hole and he almost bit his lip when the tickling sensation brought with it instant soothing relief. The activity didn't last long and, thankfully, it didn't need to. Zithing licked his maw once he was done, and scampered up to lay on Tral's abdomen, curled up into a small scaled ball beneath Kaiden's feet. The Human offered his appreciation. "Thank you, Zithing... that's a lot better."

The Drone's tongue offered a quick flicking lick against the sole of Kaiden's foot, just fast enough to avoid tickling too much. "You are welcome, iss'Kaiden... just take better care of yourself and do not do it again."

Kaiden knew that Drones had a knack for being able to fall asleep anywhere and with incredible speed, but he didn't even get a chance to acknowledge Zithing's request before the little Drone was softly wheezing out a reptilian snore. A tongue much larger than the Ilsit's caressed the Human's ear lobe. "We can work on keeping you safe in the future. I promise I will be more careful, Takket. I should have been more careful this time... but it felt so good to be inside you... like you were a part of me that belonged."

The Human chuckled mutely, careful not to disturb Zithing. Reaching up to caress the side of Tral's enormous head, Kaiden ever-so-slowly rolled over so he could lay atop his lover with his back to the gryphon's chest. "Are you tired?"

Tral carefully drew a small circle on Kaiden's abdomen with a single claw, very-gently tracing it around the Human's belly button. "A little, but we get tonight together, so if you are staying up, I am happy to spend it with you, Human'im."

Kaiden's experience meeting Tral's mother had not entirely left his mind since the night they left the Centre and he hoped he was not going to ruin their evening. "Can I... ask you something... about your mother?"

He felt Tral's body tense at the question, and could feel the feathers and fur puff up around him. The Gryphon ground his beak several times before speaking. "What do you want to know about her?"

The Human's first impression was right, so he moved things along with what he hoped was a light touch. "You said that she chose your mates for you?"

He felt a great weight of the Viddin's arms press down against him when Tral gave him a full body hug and spoke affectionately. "Not ALL of my mates now..."

Feeling his cheeks tingle with embarrassment, Kaiden happily smiled through it, letting out a contented sigh as he stared at the darkened ceiling. Reaching a hand up to stroke the talon resting on his chest, the young man also fiddled with the ring on Tral's index finger. "So... you have chicks?"

The Viddin grunted in confirmation, providing an answer in so detached a tone that it was almost scary. "Four... from three different clutches, but they belong to the hens, not me. My Mam chose hens from her aerie... they kept the chicks as part of their clan and intend to take over my family's claim when I die, but my Mam is protective of me because if I die before they're of age then their claim means nothing."

Kaiden could tell from his tone that it was hard for Tral to discuss it. He gently stroked the warm, scaled talon. "It's okay, Tral. We can discuss something else if you don't want to talk about it."

Tral let out a slightly bleary grunt and blinked his eyes several time, using his hind-paws to push the bulk of his body further up onto the lounging bed so that he was laying on it properly rather than just having his back propped against it. The massive Viddin let out a huge yawn, revealing the inside of his cave-like gullet, and then gingerly rolled to the side so that Kaiden was laying on the bed with a good portion of the gryphon draped over him; fortunately Tral was supporting his own weight to keep from crushing the Human. "Alright, Lover'im... ask me anything. I do not need to keep anything secret from you."

The combination of the English word and the Viddin suffix was cute in a way Kaiden couldn't describe and, rather than try, he simply snuggled closer to the large bulk around him, reaching a hand up to take hold of one of the Viddinire's talons, running a thumb across the second ring. "Tell me about your rings."

The gryphon's face and head feathers puffed up and his eyes went to the one Kaiden was examining. "That one has two gemstones because the hen with whom I mated had two eggs from the clutch hatch."

Although Viddin hens usually laid between three or four eggs it was not normal for all to hatch; more often than not there was only one that did and, occasionally two but only on rare occasions did three. "And... the gemstones are orange. I thought that they were blue or light red based on--"

Tral snorted and, for a moment Kaiden thought the big gryphon was going to clam up but, to to the Viddinire's credit, he did not. "Blue if the chick was born of a union when a pair is not bonded, and Pink if the parents were joined as mates. Orange is when it is a mating of convenience, or arranged without a permanent union-- so it was acknowledged and official... just not one that was meant to be forever."

Kaiden had remembered reading about relationships of convenience-- most were political or otherwise socially beneficial. Although not entirely common among Viddin, they were also not so rare as to be unheard of. A number of questions went through his mind, but the one that stuck was one he'd considered when he first noticed that his classmate had once worn one ring on each talon separately, but Tral had since switched his three rings over to a single talon. "Is there a reason why you're wearing all of your rings on one talon? When you had two you had one on each."

The ragged expression worn by his companion melted and was immediately replaced by a radiant smile. As he spoke, the gryphon delicately reached out with his unadorned talon and gently began lacing his long, curved claws with Kaiden's fingers, eyes glinting. "I am closing the chapter of that portion of my breeding life, Kaiden. I have you, which means I am no longer a tool for my Mam's advancement."

Kaiden believed he understood the symbolic significance. "So... you moved your rings over to one talon to show that you are done with that part of your life?"

The rapid click of Tral's beak was an affirmative sound. He gave a soft, delicate squeeze to Kaiden's hands. "And, also, because I hope that we can add rings to this one together. I would be in Triech to have even a single pink stone on a ring that you will be responsible for slipping on me."

Kaiden found his cheeks burning with embarrassment, but he enjoyed the sensation far more than it bothered him. "I think it'll still be a little while before I'm ready for chicks, Tral, and, besides we--"

The Viddinire quickly interjected. "I would gladly bear our chicks if you are worried in the least about it... just having them with you is what means the most to me."

The Human chuckled, reaching up to pat his enormous lover's chest. "I appreciate that, Tral... but Cetacacian only works on Human males, not Viddin ones. I'm sure we WILL have chicks one day... just not quite yet."

Tral lowered his head, turning it upside down so he could rest the top of it on the bed right next to Kaiden's; his beak stretched almost down to the Human's waist. "I know, Kaiden'im... Vetlyk will put a chick in you first. I understand."

Reaching over, the young man gave the gryphon's head a huge hug. "I will... but then I can have yours too. And, if it doesn't take the first time, I think I'll enjoy keeping trying with you."

It was Tral's turn to blush, his nares turning as red as cherries. "I don't know what I'd like more... having a chick right away, or having to spend months trying."

Kaiden grinned wider. "Maybe both?"

The Viddinire let out a soft, pleased coo. "Definitely both."

Tral laid down again, curling up around Kaiden and giving the Human a full body hug in the process. The young man smiled, idly playing with fur in one hand and feathers in the other. "No matter what happens or in what order, I'll love you, Tral."

The big gryphon cooed again. "I enjoy hearing that, Lover'im... and I love you too. When we have chicks, I hope you will let them be part of my family."

Kaiden chuckled, giving his gigantic lover scritches everywhere he could reach. "They'll be part of OUR family, Tral."

The Viddin grunted, moving to give Kaiden easier access to under his right wing as he spoke. "I mean so they can continue my line. I do not want Vala and her friends to take over just because my blood has mixed with their line."

Kaiden was surprised by the venom with which Tral spoke his mother's name. "Do you think having a half Viddin would count?"

Tral snorted. "I will make it count. We will make it count together. You will be my mate, and our chick will be the next in line for my station. As far as I am concerned, Vala can go peck for Chitgiss."

Kaiden rested a hand against the Viddin's chest. "Stop worrying about her for now, Tral... you're here with me, on Land Earth, and you have an entire life ahead of you that she's not controlling anymore."

The large gryphon smiled across at him, finally pulling his head back out of the odd position in which he had it to tenderly preen the Human's hair. "Because of you... I know."

The young man gave his lover a strong push, not that it would have been registered as anything other than an ever-so-light shove. "It's because of YOU, Tral. You could have obeyed and chosen not to come, but you chose your own path."

Tral crooned softly. "I chose you, Kaiden. I always will."

Placing his hands on either side of the Viddin's beak, Kaiden drew it in for a soft, loving kiss. Tral's entire body shuddered in bliss, and the Human immediately felt his right leg completely bathed in hot, sticky fluid. As lips separated from beak Tral didn't apologize, and Kaiden didn't need one. The young man didn't mind chiding him though. "You can be SO messy, you know."

The cocksure Sooshuh star persona came flooding to the front immediately as Tral stroke a pose above him. "That is ALSO because of you, Kaiden'im. What you do to me... you are like Triech on Earth."

The gryphon followed that up by completely enveloping him in a full-body embrace, further spreading the mess around. Kaiden couldn't help but cry out at the goop squeezed and oozed between their bodies. Eventually the Human just sighed, resigning himself to it for the night. "It's... everywhere."

Rather than addressing the statement, Tral simply cooed pleasantly. "I am so glad I can call you my Takket, Kaiden... and I hope to keep getting it everywhere... as often as possible with you."

Unable to resist the simple joy of the gryphon treating him like a teddy bear, Kaiden could only smile as he pressed himself against his lover's warmth. "And I'll enjoy calling you Takket, Tralyn'im."

The Viddinire yawned again, rolling to his side once again in a very smart move to avoid causing undue crushing damage to Kaiden. "And I will enjoy hearing it.

The two fell asleep together; Kaiden found himself as happy as he could possibly have been with how the night turned out (stickiness excepted, but that was what showers were for).

* * * * *

Kaiden awoke early to Tral snuggling up against him, purely platonically, but the non-sexual nature of the cuddling didn't help much seeing as they were both still slathered by the copious amount of mostly-dried Viddin semen, with a tiny smattering of human fluid too. The early wake-up was fortunate, as it gave them time to wash. Kaiden was able to scrub himself down easily enough in the shower adjacent to Tral's bathing tub. After that it took both Zithing and Kaiden to get the Viddinre clean and, even then, it was almost an hour job.

Tral did comment about how he lamented that they didn't have time for a little bit of 'fooling around'. Kaiden could tell that the comment was just for his benefit, as the Viddin over-exaggerated a human-like wink. After that, the two of them dressed quickly; Kaiden grabbed a fresh change of clothes from his room while Tral got Zithing's help gathering his satchel and making sure that his data pad was charged and put inside it. They joined the rest of the Roost just in time for breakfast.

As usual the entire Roost was very vivacious, discussion progressing on multiple fronts at the same time, save for Sokkas, who sat quietly beside Kaiden, occasionally leaning over subtly to brush him with a talon while reaching for something (Viddin didn't usually bother reaching) or giving him a gentle bump with a wing while leaning forward to eat off of his plate. Kaiden ultimately reached over and rubbed Sokkas' back, which he seemed to appreciate.

The Human had learned to accept communal Viddin chorus discussion as background noise, so he was surprised when the gryphons squawking away in front of him all turned and regarded him for an answer. It was Nittik who thankfully provided one. "We were all wondering where we will be going for our field trip, Kaiden'huu."

Not only did the existence of a question surprise him, but the content of it did so doubly. "Field trip?"

Vetlyk clarified. "The male Zfvielt named Sean informed us yesterday that we would be going on a field trip on Land Earth to better learn about this version of the planet, and that there were several approved landmarks to which we might travel. We had been talking among ourselves as to which destination you would choose for us."

Kytskir quickly added. "The travel curriculum and possible sites to select are on page seven of the syllabus, Kaiden'huu."

Kaiden had been going page-by-page to prepare his lessons and had only managed to get to page four; anything beyond that was a complete mystery to him. "To be honest, I... haven't quite got that far just yet."

Prirn piped in "Give Kaiden'huu some time, everyone. He is no longer just our classmate; he is our Class Holruk now!"

Hahn's beak parted wide and his ear feather tufts rose up as he proudly proclaimed "Holruk of my breeding stick, maybe!"

A loud beak-clack from Vetlyk immediately caused the table to fall silent and the tenseness was palpable as Vetlyk stared across it at Hahn. Kaiden felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up and he saw out of the corner of his eye that Tral looked as though he was getting ready to move between the two. Rather than lunge at Hahn, the Vidday merely ground his beak, and said simply "OUR breeding sticks, Classmate. HuuStook, remember?"

The laughter at the table could not have been any louder, and Kaiden found himself smiling when he saw Vetlyk glance his way and incline his head in deference. Laughing as well, the Human had to admit that his Roost's lives had changed in a big way; it only made sense that they would as well.

* * * * *

Despite the long time it had taken Kaiden and Tral to get ready that morning, the completeness of their preparation meant that they were ready to leave before the rest of the Roost. Tral made the most of the opportunity, kneeling down next to the Human as they stood by the door. "Climb onto me, Kaiden'huu... I will carry you to the rolling transport."

Kaiden didn't mind the idea of being close to Tral a little longer, but he still felt compelled to address his own aptitude. "It's just down the path... I COULD walk it on my own, you know, Tral."

Showing off a little more of his familiar cockiness, the Viddin stood up and pressed down the talon-pad to open the door. "I know you can, Kaiden'huu, but then I wouldn't get to show off with how easy it is to carry you."

Almost tripping over his own talon on the way out, the poor Viddinire didn't completely complete the image, but Kaiden didn't mind, patting the side of Tral's neck in support even while laughing, and, unable to stop himself, he spoke aloud what he had been thinking privately. "Well, I'm just glad you were a lot more careful when I was 'riding you' last night."

He immediately regretted going there, even more so when Hahn came trotting out after them, ear feather tufts as erect as they'd ever been. "Who did what last night?"

Both Tral and Kaiden spoke at the same time. "NOTHING!"

Hahn didn't let up as everyone started loading up into the transport. Kaiden had slid off of Tral's back and was climbing into the front seat when he heard the Viddinich speak from the back "Come on, Tral... I told you about all MY times with our Zfielt."

Tral huffed, flopping his hind end down on the floor of the transport with an audible thud. "Maybe I just don't squawk as much about that kind of thing."

Nittik wasn't a lot of help, egging on the big Viddinire as well. "What? No! You always talk to us about the hens you're with... I mean, who HERE can remember any time he has NOT? I am certain Tral has been with more hens than all of us put together!"

Tral snorted audibly with frustration. "Kaiden is not a hen. He is not one of those feather headed Koklin. He is.... special."

Kaiden could see Sokkas' smug expression in one of the several mirrors up front in the transport. "Oh yeah... they definitely did something. Probably THE something."

Prirn's head popped up. "THE something?"

Nittik offered up in his usual helpful way. "Hahn thinks they mated."

Kytskir also didn't let the topic alone. "Considering the amount of Xys that was brought with us, such a thing is certainly achievable, although I would have some concerns regarding the specific mechanical capacity for a one point seven eight meter tall Human to be able to accommodate the length of a Viddinire's--"

Tral growled softly "Just drop it. What Kaiden'huu and I do when it is my time with him is for us alone."

Hahn leaned closer to the largest of the Viddin, beak upturned and right by Tral's face. "Oh. Yes. I can see it. He definitely rutted that hard. I am surprised Kaiden can walk. Just look at how fluttery Tral's feathers are. I bet he got the--"

Tral turned toward the much smaller Viddinis and stated with a deadpan, flat growl "That is a nice chip on the side of your beak Vetlyk gave you. Would you like one on the other side to match? If so, just keep up the chitering, chitgiss."

The discussion thankfully died down after that and, with the end to that particular topic, the rest of the short ride to the Centre was much calmer. By the time the doors of the automated transport opened the Roost was back to its inclusive excitability. Smiling, Kaiden followed his Viddin Roostmates into the large double doors, excited to get into the course of study he'd chosen for the day; he was confident that the gryphons would love to learn a little bit about Land Earth history.

The arrival of the second transport and the emptying of the Roost's Ilsits immediately cemented Kaiden's choice in study; there was no doubt in his mind that the reptiles would get a kick out of learning about the world after their kind ceased visits. His class-focused thoughts emptied right out of his ear, however, when Sogig walked by, speaking in matter of fact tone. "The next time you are with Sokkas I want to be involved more. Zithing already got to taste you, and he said watching you with Tral was almost as good."

For as lacking in subtlety as Nittik and Hahn had been, Sogig definitely took the trophy that morning. Kaiden evaded any specific answer. "You'll have to clear it with Sokkas first, and I'm pretty sure he'll say no."

Sogig was definitely persistent. "I am sure he will be most interested in one side of you: the back one." the Drone picked up the pace, running to catch up with Zithing and Kalsig, but not before quickly adding as he licked his scaled maw "I will make sure you don't make a mess with the front side."

Despite how contentedly and blissfully 'resigned' to the trajectory his life had taken, Kaiden still occasionally found small little bumps on what he had started to refer to as 'the road less traveled'. Still, he reminded himself, considering how 'rutted' the prior night had been, not all bumps were bad.
