The Cohen Icosahedron, Ch 16
This story is continuing to be updated thanks to reader interest. I'll post another chapter if/when suitable interest is gained on this one so make sure you fav and comment-- and don't rely on others because you never know when this spin-off will get the axe due to disinterest!
Our protagonist is a 19 year old college student named Kaiden Wilson, a Unity Programme graduate from Vancouver British Columbia, and the odd situation in which he is put thanks to a discovery of yet more versions of earth in the rapidly expanding multiple-reality-stretching world in which this story series takes place. It also introduces several of Kaiden's gryphon partners. The Viddin, as they call themselves are divided into multiple categories based on species, and overworked, over-utilized has one of each.
After an important and revealing meeting with one of the higher ups at the Unity Centre, Kaiden returns to his living space to have an important and revealing meeting with Sokkas. After a lengthy discussion on what comes next, things heat up quickly as Kaiden sees another side of the usually subdued and introverted Viddin.
As always, thank you for reading, and I appreciate all the comments and favs I receive. And, if you're eagerly awaiting for what comes next, remember that this story doesn't get updated until there at least 25 favs, so bring it on!

Chapter 16

Kaiden had initially planned to stop by his room, take a shower and get changed before going out to track down his classmates and find out exactly what happened and how, then update them on the upcoming transfer to Tier 7. His plans were altered significantly when he was greeted by Sokkas. "Welcome back, Classmate."
The Viddin's presence in his assigned dorm was only slightly more surprising than the scent of something cooking in the kitchen. Although the pending meal was worthy enough of a question there was something more pressing and, as Kaiden took his data pad out of his class satchel then set the bag by the door the young man started with the one that needed to come first. "I didn't expect anyone in my condo."
Sokkas remained exactly where he was when Kaiden first entered, facing the young man and as still as a statute; he was seated beside a small end table flanking it opposite a recliner. The Viddinich spoke in the casual, disinterested way that had become his signature tone. "If you do not recall, Classmate, the rest of our study group have spent time with you and, despite Vetlyk making a mess of things socially with his outburst, it would be both unbecoming and disruptive if I did not honor my obligation of taking my turn."
Kaiden sat down in the armchair on the opposite side of the end table from Sokkas and set his data pad aside. Every other member of the study group had been excited to spend time with him, but apparently not the Viddinich. "So... time with me is an obligation?"
The gryphon cocked his head to the side ever-so-slightly, blue-dyed crest raising enough to be even more noticeable amidst the sea of black feathers. "You sound offended. That was not my intent, Classmate."
The Human assessed the gryphon opposite him, even turning in the chair to get a better look at him. Like other Viddin, Sokkas had a regal presence but his was much more subdued-- a certain kind of quiet dignity, yet it was also combined with an air of late 20th century punk-objectionist vibe. The black fur with white markings was a vast deviation from the standard fur color of his breed and his dyed head feathers punctuated by the vibrant blue streak all but screamed 'I demand to be seen as unique', and yet, most of the time, he seemed perfectly content to be invisible socially.
Out of all of his classmates, Sokkas had a tendency to speak the least and had barely opened up to the Human during their time together in class. Kaiden decided to take the statement at face value, wondering if certain Viddin had social setbacks like certain Humans had Aspergers. "It's hard not to be at least a little offended when someone calls me an obligation."
Sokkas stared back at him with an unmoved expression. He blinked, speaking blandly. "That is a matter of perspective, Classmate. Obligations are not required to be negative. You are obligated to attend classes, but you seem to enjoy them greatly. You are obligated to help instruction your Viddin classmates, and yet you take great pride in doing so. I am obligated to spend time with you, which greatly improves my afternoon. You should not be offended because you are a welcome obligation."
Kaiden took a moment to do the mental acrobatics required to acknowledge that Sokkas, despite being both obtuse and difficult, was also correct. "Wouldn't it just be easier to say that you are glad to spend some time with me this afternoon?"
The stoic gryphon's tail flicked behind him but no other mannerism registered. "That is indeed the case. Is that what you are looking to be told? I was not aware that you were so insecure in your value to me."
The Human grimaced at that inwardly; did Sokkas spend so much time being quiet that he couldn't help but dish out questionable statements. "Can I be offended now, or was that also not something you meant to sound bad?"
The Viddin's beak quirked slighty as the small feathers around it puffed out in the tell-tale sign of a gryphon's wry grin. "You are entirely too easy to rile, Classmate."
Kaiden was not prepared for an expression of humor from Sokkas, and they dry wit with which it was delivered left him reeling. Nevertheless, he went back for more, following up with his earlier thought. "So... is this why you're usually so quiet? Every time you speak up you reveal that you're impossible to be around?"
Rather than go with either spectrum of objecting indignantly or playing along in good humor, Sokkas some how managed to combine both. "Unfortunately for the both of us, I am your only classmate around, so you will be forced to endure my antics until the rest of the study group is released from dorm confinement tomorrow morning."
It took a moment for Kaiden to realize that Sokkas wasn't joking about the situation regarding their class mates. "Is everyone alright? Are they in trouble?"
The Viddin sniffed in through his nares, the feathers around his beak deflating. "No, Classmate...if they were in trouble I would have said that they were apprehended or censured. The security detail has been interviewing and they are confined to quarters to let everything calm down. The only member of the group who was reprimanded was Vetlyk."
The reminder of how the Vidday had been shot sprang back up into the forefront of Kaiden's mind. "I can't believe that they shot him with a tranquilizer."
Sokkas stared at him in a way that gave the Human the impression that his companion were wordlessly accusing him of being a halfwit. "As opposed to what? Having him continue to inflict injury upon Hahn, or risk getting close to him and being maimed? We both know that Humans are not as durable as Viddin, and neutralizing a threat at a distance is safest for your kind."
"But Vetlyk isn't a threat."
The grypon's stare doubled-down. "Classmate, every Viddin is a threat, and your people know this-- it is precisely the reason why the Ikali are no longer here."
Kaiden wanted to argue the point but he also knew that Sokkas had a certain way of looking at things which made a debate far more difficult than was worth holding. "Okay... but... he'll be alright... right?"
Sokkas finally looked away, standing up and walking around the end table to sit down again right in front of Kaiden so they could look at one another without having to rotate their heads. "Yes, Classmate... if for no reason other than Vetlyk avoiding reprisal due to being royalty."
The displeased expression on the Viddinich's beak might have been missed by a Human less familiar with gryphons, but Kaiden noticed it. He would have questioned it, if not for a more pressing one, based on that new information. "Wait... you mean because he's a Vidday? The Vidday are called Viddin royalty, but that's not a real thing, is it?"
The vulture/leopard in front of him's expression was blandly-disinterested. "His father is the Vidday nation's Holruk."
Holruk was a Viddin term for the head of a family, but it could also translate to the head of a flight, head of a roost, or head of a community. Kaiden knew that the Viddin were divided into nations based on their specific species but he hadn't given much thought into their governments beyond what he'd learned in class, and that was mostly history with some discussion on what passed for laws on Plateau Earth. "So... is that like a President's son or something?"
Sokkas spoke flatly. "More akin to a Prince. Viddin rulership does not always follow bloodlines but it is not uncommon for the eldest offspring of a family to take after his or her parents and in Vetlyk's case it is a foregone conclusion."
A thousand more questions began flooding Kaiden's mind at that reveal, but any questions he might have asked were immediately sidelined by the appearance of an Ilsit emerging from the kitchen. It was a Drone, that much Kaiden knew. It was just over a meter tall, relatively spindly, with a thin tail and smooth, olive-colored scales. Unlike Zithing, who was incredibly hard to understand, when the Ilsit spoke he did so very cleanly in the Viddin language. "The meal will be ready soon, Holruk'im."
The reaveal of an Ilsit in his condo was surprising enough for Kaiden, but hearing it refer to Sokkas in what basically referred to as 'my lord' was another shock. He stated the obvious. "There's an Ilsit Drone here."
The gryphon responded with as much disconnected disinterest as most everything else. "This is Sogig... he serves my family and is usually restricted to my quarters, but I have brought him with because I presumed you would be fatigued after your meeting with the Head Integrator and would not want to prepare your own meal."
Kaiden felt as though he were constantly behind in the discussion. "How'd you know about the Head Integrator?"
Sokkas gestured the Ilsit away; Sogig went right back into the kitchen as the Viddin spoke. "As I said, I was the only one of the study group who was not detained as I did not interfere until Vetlyk presented him as a threat to you. Since I was free to do as I pleased, I received word of the situation."
Kaiden recalled that Sokkas had indeed interposed himself between the human and the violence. Despite not feeling that he'd been endangered, the thought of the usually distant Viddin coming to his aid gave him a faint warm feeling inside. "Thank you for helping to keep me safe, and thinking of me, Sokkas."
The gryphon shook out his puffed up feathers. Nares reddened, Sokkas double-clicked his beak. "You owe me no thanks, Classmate. You are an important resource and I am protecting my own self interest."
Based on the Viddin's non-verbal cues, he had a feeling that Sokkas was just downplaying things and attempting to distance himself from the appreciation. "If you say so."
"I did just say so."
Kaiden would have continued pressing but, just then, Sogig returned with two plates; one had what looked like ravioli in some kind of pan sauce reduction and the other was a collection of ground meat with the same sauce drizzled over it. "I followed the directions to your specifications, Holruk'im."
Sokkas ground his bottom beak against his top; it was a subtle version of a Viddin sigh. "Thank you, Sogig. You can clean up now and give me time with my Classmate."
Kaiden had always had a hard time figuring out Sokkas and never really got him to open up much about himself. leaning forward, the Human noted "You seem to be pretty comfortable providing Sogig directions... I don't normally hear you telling people what to do."
As usual, Sokkas was very good at deflecting the conversation. "I believe very strongly in social contracts in which everyone has a specific part to play. When at the Centre, mine is not to lead."
The Human almost started to wonder if he was getting better at controlling the conversation, having believed he found a suitable loophole to get answers. "It doesn't seem like Sogig agrees with you... it looks like you're leading him."
Rather than address the observation, Sokkas took the opportunity to bury his beak in his dinner. Once he finished his bite, he finally spoke. "It sounds as though you are not content to discuss topics other than me."
Kaiden felt like he was making progress! Picking up his own plate and the fork the Ilsit had provided for him, the Human pressed on. "Well... it seems like I barely know anything about you... I mean... everyone else is always so talkative and you... um... well.."
Sokkas stated in a matter of fact tone. "I am much more inclined to answer questions than to advertise myself. I realize that this is not what you have come to expect among Viddin, but I assure you that I am not defective."
The young man had a feeling that his classmate was exercising more of his dry humor, but he was too invested in the discussion to be redirected. "I've seen your scores, Sokkas... you scored better than anyone else in our study group. There's no reason you should have had to stay behind here on Plateau Earth. Why didn't you go off to Land Earth with the rest of the top of your class?"
"I am a better student than a teacher."
The statement made little sense. "What do you mean? You're a student either way!"
Sokkas ground his beak again. "No... if I went there I would spend much of my time trying to help Humans who were behind in their studies. If I wish to learn at a faster rate then I am best served working with a Human who is able to keep up... unfortunately I ended up having you instead."
Kaiden did NOT miss the way Sokkas' feathers puffed up at the statement; it was delivered with impeccable deadpan seriousness but the gryphon couldn't hide his body's equivalent of a smile. Still, the young man realized that it was still a subtle deflection and Kaiden wasn't having any of it. "What about visiting Land Earth? You could have done that months ago if you'd gone with the rest of your class."
The Viddinich blinked, double-clicking his beak. "I have far more interest in people than places, Classmate. Although it may not seem it due to my lack of engagement, I am interested in learning about others."
The Human couldn't help but smirk. "Ah... so you aren't as much of a nihilist as you make yourself up to be."
Sokkas huffed actively as he ground his beak. "Classmate, do not confuse me with a nihilist. I am an OBJECTIONIST. There is a different. Just because I do not care does not mean that I do not care."
The blatantly humorous statement, still delivered with a monotone voice pushed past Kaiden's willpower and he couldn't help but laugh; Sokkas' tail twitched mirthfully in response. Once he recomposed himself, the young man pushed back just a little. "Yeah? Well... I'm not really sure I believe that. You seem pretty careless at times to me."
The Viddin ground his beak gain. "Your pun is noted. Thank you, but I encourage you to take my statement at face value."
Kaiden did NOT miss the slight change in Sokkas' voice; he did an incredible imitation of Kytskir, up to and including the faint nasal huff on his 'n's. The Human caught on immediately, realizing that the gryphon was using dry wit as a distraction, and he pulled back to the topic at hand. "I really mean what I said about thanking you for protecting me... even if I don't think it was necessary I'm still glad that you care."
Sokkas stood up and began pacing slowly, padding around the chair in a circle. "You have already thanked me, Classmate and, as I said, I do care... in the right circumstances."
Seizing the opportunity, Kaiden moved forward with a more personal question, hoping he was getting his classmate to open up. "Why did you wait so long to spend time with me?"
Although he'd hoped for a straight answer he was forced to settle for more of Sokkas' dry wit. "I had presumed that Vetlyk would cause a scene and so I remained distant so as to not become involved in it, and then press the advantage after everyone else was caught in the fallout from the social self-destruction."
Kaiden took the opportunity to fire back with some of his own attempt at humor. "Oh... 'take advantage', huh? And I thought you weren't really interested."
Sokkas paused on the side of the chair opposite the end table, his tail flicking against the armrest just below Kaiden's elwbow. "To the contrary, I am, in fact, very interested... I am just possessed of enough self restraint to not come across as a bumbling hatchling while courting you."
The Human paused at Sokkas' word choice. "Courting me?"
The gryphon offered a very human-like nod, obviously for Kaiden's benefit. "Correct... despite what the others have expressed, not all Viddin show their interest with such blatant... blatentness. My preference was to give you space and let you regain your bearings after the summer-storm of interest from our other classmates. Do not tell me that you do not appreciate the opportunity to catch your breath; I am able to tell that you do."
The afternoon he was sharing with Sokkas was quite different from the time he'd had with the other Viddin. While certain components were frustrating, it wasn't in an unpleasant way; coming from someone who didn't like being frustrated that was saying a lot. He also realized, after pausing to think about it, that Sokkas had been playing with him socially-- forcing the Human to chase after him rather than vice versa. It had helped Kaiden learn something about himself, and he acknowledged it. "I... I guess I do appreciate it, yes. Thank you again."
Sokkas offered up a half-hearted huffing 'ha' as he circled back around in front of Kaiden and sat down again. "You are a very appreciative Zfielt, Classmate."
Kaiden couldn't quite understand why he felt that the matter-of-fact observation almost sounded like the Viddin was flirting with him, but he couldn't shake the impression. He quickly decided to change the subject, circling back to an earlier statement he'd made. "I like your fur... is the coloration choice an example of you being a non-nihilistic objectionist."
Sokkas once again blunted the impact of the joke. "You are correct."
The Human rolled his eyes inwardly, but pressed on. "Do you mind if I look at it more closely? You're the only Viddin I know who didn't keep their natural coloration. What about the dye in your feathers?"
Sokkas, usually unreadable in his passive acknowledge extended a wing until it rested nearly in Kaiden's lap, his stance and presence suggesting a much higher degree of pride than his dismissive and casual comment of "I do not mind."
The longer Kaiden inspected the unnaturally dark feathers the more it made his companion puff up and he swore he was able to feel the faintest shiver from Sokkas' shoulder when he moved a hand over to explore the velvet-soft black-and-white fur. While tracing one of the many white circular markings the Human asked "Sogig did this for you, I guess?"
The Viddin clicked his beak once in acknowledgement before speaking up on the matter. "Yes. He can renew the color in less than twenty minutes as needed but the original procedure took nearly six hours."
It was another analytical statement focused on conveying information without emotion, but Sokkas' body revealed the truth; every time Kaiden moved his hand the gryphon leaned into his touch just a little more. That, and, as the Human sat up a little straighter he caught a glimpse of color amidst the blackness beneath the Viddin; a very large amount of 'interest' was showing. "Would it be egotistical if I were to say that I was wondering if that is because of me?"
Sokkas was ruthless in his chiding statement. "No... it would be naive and dense of you-- of course you are the cause, Classmate."
Kaiden felt his heart beating faster. Swallowing his hesitation, he looked up at Sokkas; the Viddin was so close to him, gazing right back down. The Human figured being straight forward would work best. "May I touch it?"
The young man was unable to recall the last time he'd seen a Viddin look quite so smug, as if reveling in the reaffirmation of some unspoken presumption. The answer, however, made up for it. "Yes you may... Kaiden."
The Human kept one hand on the top of Sokkas' foreleg, fingers running along the shoulder blade and playing along the base of the gryphon's wing. "You just called me by my name."
Sokkas squawked out a soft chuckle. "You are about to touch my erect penis... is there a better time for familiarity?"
Rolling his eyes at the rather reasonable answer, Kaiden chose to focus instead on what lay before him. His free hand slid down his classmate's ribs, and along the underside of his furry abdomen, down... down... down until something slick, hot and rigid bumped against the back of his wrist. The moment skin touched skin Sokkas' member jumped upward, textured shaft, loosely pinning the human's hand against his furred abdomen. Letting out a breath he'd been holding, Kaiden turned his hand around and gently closed his fingers around the generously sized member. "Wow..."
A self-assured smirk cracked through the Viddin's otherwise unreadable demeanor. "I am pleased that you approve."
Despite not having said so, the Human indeed was, and a little intimidated. While Sokkas was not as large as Tral (in body or... elsewhere) the size difference was still intimidating. Running his fingers along the length with a gentle-but-firm grip, Kaiden smiled to himself as all of the feathers on Sokkas' body puffed out and his fur stood on end. Considering turn about to be fair play, the Human shot right back. 'I'm pleased that you approve."
The gryphon didn't even bat an eye. "Then find more for me to approve of."
Remembering the effect he had on his other classmates and willing to beat back some of Sokkas' reserved smugness, Kaiden slid onto the floor so he could get a better angle. Feeling his own shaft harden within his pants, the young man used both hands, stroking the Viddin using all the skills he'd learned experimenting with the others in his study group; the result was a lustful rumble from the Viddinich, but no release. After a half minute passed Kaiden began increasing the pressure slightly along with the speed but after what was probably an entire minute he seemed no closer to completing the task, stumping the Human. "Are... you alright?"
Sokkas squawk chuckled softly. "Considering you are panting as much as I, that was about to be my question, Kaiden."
The young man felt no reason to be dishonest about his surprise. "I just... everyone else just... you know-- got off faster."
The gryphon clacked his beak once. "It is called self control, Kaiden... most Viddin can have it if they want, but I feel no reason to be reduced to a sniveling mass of ejaculating feathers just because I have a sexy little Zfielt eagerly working my shaft."
The frankness with which Sokkas stated his piece caught Kaiden by surprise; although he could have felt insulted, or at least demeaned by the statement he felt his cheeks flush in... glee? Did he enjoy Sokkas' casual dismissal of the situation? Was it supposed to be some kind of challenge. He'd never really had to try much with the others. He began to doubt himself just a little. "Am I... doing alright at least?"
Sokkas let out a shaky breath as Kaiden slid both hands around the ample shaft and, putting his back into it, stroked down the entire length. "I cannot think how else you could possibly do better, Kaiden."
That left only one possibility in the Human's mind. "If I'm doing that well, are you holding back then?"
The Viddin chuckled; the sound was cut short as he grunted-- the sound was definitely not from pain. "Perhaps I want to see what you are like frustrated."
Kaiden repeated his earlier motion and he got an actual groan of pleasure from his classmate. "You're holding back then?"
Sokkas' beak clacked in obvious lust. "Indeed..."
The Human smiled, perfectly willing to challenge the gryphon just like he was being challenged. Adding even more effort to a firm, swift push down along the length of his classmate's shaft, he asked simply "Why?"
The Viddin's entire body was shaking and Kaiden could see the muscle in Sokkas' thighs twitching and the response came out tight and halting. "I... want you... to ask... for it."
A faint hint of sadism flashed through Kaiden's mind for just a split second, and he all but removed his hands from the massive, throbbing organ. "And... if I don't then you won't... you know?"
He was completely blown away when Sokkas' hind legs planted firmly against the carpet and grit his beak. In the matter of seconds the Viddin's body had calmed down to near-normal status, at least enough to give off the impression that he was in control. "Correct... if you want me, I want to hear it."
Kaiden continued staring at the twitching erection, which constantly leaked precum in obvious preparation to let loose and yet Sokkas was obviously unmoving in his demand. Wondering just how much stamina Sokkas had, the Human ran a single finger along the underside of the thick organ. It jumped at the touch, spraying out a copious amount of precum, but he got no other reaction from his classmate aside from the lash of a tail, but he almost thought he saw Sokkas' fuzzy scrotum pull up in objection of the teasing. The young man pushed his advantage. "Are you SURE you won't cum without me asking for it?"
Sokkas was about to answer, but Kaiden slid his finger along the Viddin's length again and all that came out of the gryphon's beak was a wheeze. When he finally did answer it was a stream of words not related to an answer. "Khwah, your hand is good..."
Realizing he'd resisted long enough, Kaiden figured he'd give his classmate what he was after; truth be told, he was more than willing to ask for it. "Sokkas... will you cum for me... please?"
It was as though he had punched a hole in a dam; the moment he made the request the gryphon spread his wings, released a growling call, and thrust forward. Sokkas' turgid member jumped, and immediately began spitting out a torrent of seed. Scrambling, Kaiden was able to grab it after one blast, and that only made his class mate thrust again, sliding his length down against the Human's fingers until his pinkies touched withdrawn sheath, and the Viddin began unloading in earnest.
The ejaculation lasted nearly a minute, with no less than two dozen spurts of semen and just as many more-than-eager thrusts into the Human's waiting hands. By the time Sokkas had finished the gryphon's fully extended wings drooped down and his spade-shaped tongue was hanging contentedly out of the side of his beak. Several seconds later, however, Sokkas had regained his composure and, with the same leg-extension-hip-twist Hahn had used, fully sheathed his ample gryphonhood. The Viddinich rotated his head around to bump his beak against Kaiden's cheek. "The rumors do not do you justice... just so you know, Kaiden."
Although the hint of emotional intimacy was nice, the gryphon's reluctance to just 'let things happen' still struck Kaiden as odd. Leaning forward to rest his head against Sokkas' neck, he asked "So... why all of the talk about self control? Can't you just enjoy yourself like every--"
He stopped himself just before he answered his own question. Sokkas spoke up to the point regardless. "Just like everyone else? Since when have you known me to be just like everyone else, Takket?"
Kaiden was completely caught off guard by the intimate term... enough so that he pulled away. "Takket?"
The gryphon turned to face him; his member, the Human noticed, was peeking out again. "Yes... I would like for you to be my Takket... and that is why I have been working on my self control, Kaiden."
The young man felt a moment of disquiet but he pressed on. "What... is that going to involve, exactly? I know that Tral mentioned it, but he's too--"
Sokkas' beak double-clacked and silenced him. The Viddin took a step forward, closing the distance. Resting his beak right against Kaiden's ear, the gryphon spoke softly. "Sogig is here for dinner, yes, but also for other reasons."
A breathless word exited the young man. "....Xys..."
A warm beak gently brushed against Kaiden's earlobe, and then gently preened the edge of his hairline on his neck. "Yes... but I will not do anything without your permission, Kaiden-- my Takket. You have seen my self control... you know it will go no further when you say you do not want to proceed."
Shivering, Kaiden felt like his pants were become a prison for his erection, which was crying out in objection about being confined. His voice came out with a faint trill-- excitement combined with a hint of fear. "And... if I give permission?"
A triangular tongue slid against the flesh of his neck. "Permission is a good start, Takket... but I want you to ask me for it."
Feeling his entire body shivering by that point, senses afire with the enormous Viddin's seductive tone and movie-perfect execution of just the right physical interaction, Kaiden could only manage to formulate a single, breathless word. "...please?"
Sokkas took another step forward, his weight forcing Kaiden to fall backwards, landing in the chair. The Viddin continued forward, practically climbing atop the Human and piece of furniture all at once. The young man's eyes rolled back in his head when he felt the ample slab of flesh slide up his leg against the outside of his trouser leg and almost felt like he was going to lose consciousness until he felt his classmate's beak brush against the front of his shirt, and then all forward motion ceased. Sokkas playfully, seductively and so-god-damn belligerently asked "Oh? 'Please' what, Zfielt?"
Sokkas apparently had a deep reserve of willpower, but Kaiden didn't. Gripping his fingers into the fur on either of the Viddin's shoulders, the Human surrendered, his body demanding what was being offered. "Fuck me, Sokkas... mount me, and fuck me... I want it. I want to be your Takket... please!"
The Viddin's beak parted in a very gratified smile. "Congratulations, Takket... you just found more for me to approve of."
