The Prince's New Intern
Just something that's been swimming in my head for a while now. And since it'll be a short while before I can finish any art, I figured I'd write something instead. I want to continue this series, but depending on how well received it is, I'll continue.
Enjoy!
I also apologize for my poor attempt at writing smut...*sits in corner*
Jelani sat on the bench on the boarding platform, her bags sitting next to her as she gazed down at the ticket in her hand. That very same ticket was both her way out to a new beginning, but also sealed the door that led back to her previous lifestyle back home with her parents and two younger siblings. She could never go back now, but that was something she had accepted long before now. She pried her eyes off of the ticket, looking up and gazing at the other potential passengers that were scattered about, both of human and anthro variety. The train station sat on the borders between the anthro and human nations, but was also one of the few places outside of Ti'ana where both races could be seen together without chaos ensuing one way or another. It was a pleasant sight to see, especially since relations between the two races had soured since the war.
Ah yes, the War of 2056, or commonly known as the Hellfire War, the battle between humans and anthros. Or more specifically, dragons. Anthropomorphs and humans have long existed alongside one another since the beginning of time, but the anthros have long walked the Earth longer than a human. While neither side couldn't deny that there was still racism and prejudice towards each other, they were at least able to settle their differences and work towards making the Earth the prosperous planet it is today. It wasn't until the last century or so ago when the dragons got tired of following the human's governmental authority, and began to question their ability to rule over a utopia of two different species. Now, humans have always had this complex that they were at the top of the animal kingdom, but the dragons, and just about every anthro, knew that they sat at the bottom. They are a flawed race, humans, but they understood, and opted to assist and maybe teach them how to be proper rulers. Of course, they saw this as an insult, accusing the dragons of wanting to have total control over everything. One could imagine how this went; just imagine an international political debate, and add more yelling. That was basically every debate up until the late 2050s when several world leaders, decided that enough was enough; It was decided that the two feuding sides would battle each other in a war, and neither side would accept assistance unless it was from their own race.
The was lasted for more than 30 years, each side giving it their all. Families were separated as their respective members were called out to serve their nation. Resources were exhausted, innocents were killed, rebellion erupted all over...the entire world had fallen into anarchy and turmoil. But it all ended in 2088, when General Ke'chu Leneghan and his men led the way to victory, ending the battle after taking out a large chunk of what remained of the human's army, including several of their own leaders. The humans had no choice but to surrender, with little to no resources to use and their leaders gone, they were left helpless. Upon this victory, the dragons took their place as leaders for both sides, but offered the humans a spot next to them. However, after losing a war and suffering humiliation, the humans used what they had left of their pride and promptly refused to stand side-by-side with "reptilian scum." They segregated themselves from the anthropomorphs, living in human-only nations across borders and the waters, and they harbored a resentment towards them as a whole for years to come. While the anthros themselves did not hold such resentment towards humans, and even welcome them into their nations and settlements, there were still that few who treated them with prejudice, mostly because they were loyal to the Draco Order. Even still, humans who did not hate the anthros were more than welcome into their communities; there is even a small settlement of human immigrants who wanted to escape the racism and leave peacefully alongside them, just as they did centuries ago. Relations between the two have long remained sour, but with the dragons remaining the overall authority, there was not much they can do about it, other than continue to lick the wounds that have yet to heal from their defeat.
Fast forward, the current year is now 2127. Jelani's father was one of the soldiers who served in that war, and even he harbored that same hatred towards the anthros, and often lamented on the horrors he saw back when he served in the army. He was there that day when General Ke'chu struck down his sergeant, he was there when the dragons rose their flag in victory, he was there when they sent the wounded, weary and exhausted back home, he was there when King Aragon Ramsiis III and his wife were crowned king and queen. His hatred knows no bounds; he would spit on the ground any anthro should tread. And he has. Several times. So the day Jelani told her parents that she applied to attend the College of Silvershroud and was accepted, their reactions were...what she hadn't expected. She expected them to disapprove but...she could still see the fury in her father's eyes, the hurt in her mother's, and the disbelief in her siblings. In his rage, Jelani's father ordered her out of their home, to leave and never return, stating that she was no longer a daughter of his. Distraught, the young woman turned to her mother and siblings...but they had long sided with her father's ideals. But her mother was more merciful; she convinced her husband to let her at least pack her things and find a place to stay before kicking her out. Her siblings did not speak to her and kept their distance as their mother led her upstairs, but Jelani, now betrayed and hurt, quickly packed two bags, her laptop and money, and left that evening, checking into a hotel as she prepared herself for her departure the following week.
Jelani's eyes glazed over as she felt tears forming; she quickly wiped them away, blocking the memory as she continued to wait for the train. She no longer had a home, she no longer had a family...she was on her own, with no one to turn to but herself. And with nothing to go back to, she had no choice but to start over in a completely new place to make a name for herself...other than a "disgrace to the family."
A horn sounded out at the train pulled into the station, the sleek, ivory locomotive that was fueled strictly on electric power, it stood impressively over the head of the other patrons. The doors slid open, the previous passengers disembarking off of the train while a line began to form of those who wished to board. Jelani quickly gathered her things and joined them, boarding the train accordingly, handing her ticket to the ticket inspector and promptly took a seat in one of the upper cabins. Once the other passengers had safely boarded, the doors closed and the train began to move, Jelani watching as they slowly pulled out of Checkpoint Station and into the dark tunnels, which soon turned into the bright blue skies of the outside world, the train gliding effortlessly over the suspended railway. Off in the distance, she could see the silhouette of her hometown. For a brief moment, her eyes softened as she stared out the window, watching the buildings become further and further until she could no longer see them, her only visual was the vast green treeline below them. In that moment, everything from her previous life was gone, and she now only had to look towards the unknown future for something better.
From this moment on, she was starting over.

Silvershroud was aptly named for its towering buildings that seemed to me made of pure silver, the streets and buildings made out of marble and a type of smoothed ivory stone bricks. But there was a harmony between civilization and nature with a forest and lake in the distance, trees also joining the ranks with the buildings. The centerpiece of the city was the castle-like mansion that was nestled in an alcove up on a hill near the lake, the entire exterior made of marble and that same smooth stone and a grey roof. It was one of the bigger, much more prosperous cities in Ti'ana, and the go-to place for those seeking a new life.
The train arrived at Silvershroud Station within two hours, the lithe locomotive pulling into the station with ease. Jelani gathered her belongings and disembarked, checking the time as she entered the station. It was 2:38pm - she was supposed to meet with a landlord that had an apartment for rent at 3:15pm. She was making good time, as long as she didn't dawdle for too long.
She took one of the cabs that was waiting outside to 2315 S Minera Street, which turned out to be a pleasant area of the neighborhood that was more close with nature than anything. They pulled into the parking lot of the apartment, Jelani paying the cab driver graciously after taking her bags from the trunk. She then made her way into the building, noting how quaint this place felt...It was a pleasant change, especially after having to endure a hostile environment for an entire week. It didn't take her long to find the landlord, who was sitting in one of the soft seats in the lobby. She was a grey mouse with wavy, brunette hair, wearing a cute baby blue sundress and flats. Her ears twitched upon hearing someone enter, he green eyes looking over to the young woman who just entered. It was a human, which wasn't much of a surprise...but this one was particularly prettier than most she's seen. Tawny skin with shoulder length raven hair, but what really stood out were those jade colored eyes that were filled with such purpose and strength. It was almost entrancing.
"Oh! You must be Jelani?" she asked, standing.
"I am," the woman nodded, extending her hand. "You are Jennet?"
"I am! Pleasure to meet you!" The two women shook hands before Jennet led her into the office just around the corner, Jelani noticing that Jennet was quite chipper. Once inside, she took a seat in front of the desk while the mouse took hers in the cushiony office chair behind it. "Now, we went over the basics over the phone, so there's not much left to go over. First we must discuss the terms of your lease. Do you know how long you plan to stay here?"
"I...am not sure..." Jelani shifted as she rubbed her arm. "I came here seeking a new beginning after I was...forced to leave my previous home. I will be attending the college here but...aside from that, I don't know where to go from there."
"That's okay! Everyone needs time to get on their feet. Does...two years sound like acceptable?" Jelani nodded, Jennet immediately typing something on her computer. "Now, remember, you can always renew your lease, however, the fee is dependent on how long you intend to stay. But until then, you have two years to decide if you want to renew or move out."
"Understood."
Jennet's fingers were a blur on the keyboard as she continued typing what ever was on the screen, before her printer produced a document which she promptly snatch out of the tray and pinned it to a clipboard before standing. "Now! I have a few vacant rooms available, and you are more than welcome to pick one that suits your liking! If you don't mind following me, we will start with the third floor and work our way around and up!"
Jennet took this as an opportunity to give Jelani a quick tour of the building...well, its essentials, anyway. The lobby held standard apartment equipment, such as a laundry room, mail boxes, her office...but there was another necessity that Jelani had never seen before. It looked like a thinner ATM stationed on a wall between the elevators and the door to the laundry room. It had two slots, one on either side of a small screen that had a logo of some sort of company in the middle. "This is where you will be paying your rent. All you need is your ID and your payment method - the machine can take both cash and credit cards."
"Huh." Jelani hummed, looking over the device. "That's kinda nifty, huh?"
"It beats going door to door pestering the tenants for their rent, that's for sure!" The rodent giggled. "Your rent isn't due until the end of the month, so you won't have to worry about this. Yet."
Jennet then guided Jelani onto the elevator, their first stop being the third floor. The next hour mostly consisted of the two looking over the vacant apartments, Jelani noting that each apartment was mostly the same aside from color and their initial layout. There were some that were bigger than a few, only because those few had an extra room that was free to use depending on the person. Jelani eventually decided to take a vacant apartment on the fourth floor; it was fully furnished with one bedroom, but it also had another empty room that she could do whatever with. It was a bit lofty, but it was quaint and homey; it even had a balcony behind the living room. All of the furniture was new as it still had the plastic wrappings over it - even the bed was only the frame and a mattress.
"I'll let you settle in," Jennet called from the door "Don't be afraid to come to me if you need anything!"
"I will, thank you Ms. Jennet." Jelani bowed her head, smiling at the mouse.
"'Jennet' is just fine." She giggled. "Enjoy your stay!"
The door clicked shut, leaving the tawny skinned woman on her own in her new home. She left her bags in the hallway as she dragged herself over to the couch, not bothering to remove the plastic covering as she threw herself onto it. Everything was so new...New town, new college, new home, new beginning...new everything. She was away from her family, away from the racism, prejudice, judgement, hatred and hostility...she was free from it all. Maybe...maybe she had nothing to worry about after all. She laid back as her eyes slowly closed, exhaustion finally catching up to her as she realized she had been working all week to escape her hell...but her eyes shot open as she sat up, realization flashing in her eyes.
"I need a job."
~ ~ ~
"You need an intern."
Aquila looked up from her many stacks of folders, her sapphire eyes boring into her husband's form as he leaned on the doorway. She would have glared, had one of the stacks not began to teeter off of her desk. She yelped and reached for them, watching hours of organizing go down the drain...only for a teal aura to surround the folders as they levitated for a moment, lifting into the air and re-stacked neatly on the desk once more. The ivory dragoness released a sigh of relief as she looked over to her husband, whose eyes and markings were radiating that same teal glow.
"Thank divines..!" she breathed, resting her elbows on the desk as she rubbed her temples. "Aaahh...there's so much paperwork to go through...I may not finish tonight!"
"Then don't." Aragon stated bluntly, a frown appearing on his features and worry appearing in his amethyst eyes. "You've been working too hard for too long. This is way more for you to handle by yourself and you know it. It's one thing to handle your duties as queen, but you're doing work from the College too. Don't you think that this is just a little too much for you to bear alone?"
Aquila only groaned in response, letting her head hit the desk as she lacked the energy to even argue. Whether she liked it or not, he was right. Now, Aquila was never the one to ask for help, even if she needed it, as she was far too stubborn to let anything get the best of her which often drove to do things on her own. It wasn't healthy and it was beginning to stress her out - shes been getting more and more migraines over the last month and it's been keeping her from functioning and tending to her duties. Being a leader was one thing, but she didn't want to give up her job at the College either. She loved interacting with the students, giving lectures and taking classes on expeditions...What started out as a hobby turned into her passion and second career, but if things continued the way they did...she may have to quit her job as a professor.
"What am I going to do, Ara..?" She cried, referring her husband by his nickname for the first time in weeks. "I don't want to quit my job at the College..! I had so much planned for my class this semester and I was finally able to get founding for our expeditions!"
"I know, sweetie..." The larger, silver dragon embraced his wife, gently rubbing the base of her wing, one of her favorite spots. He relaxed seeing her nuzzle the onyx scales under his chin. "I know how much the College means to you..but if this keeps up, you're not going to be able to function properly. Hell, I'm worried I might come home and you've had a stroke or heart-attack!"
"I'm sorry, Ara but..." She whined, looking up at him with those large sapphire eyes. "I'm too stubborn for my own good..! How can I ask someone for help? Who can I ask for help? We don't have any staff available to handle ALL the paperwork around here!"
"You could always hire an intern." The regal dragon suggested with a shrug of his shoulders, before holding his wife's cheeks and looking directly into her eyes. "Listen...I know you don't like hiring strangers but...why not offer the job to the students at the College? I'm certain there are quite a few who are in need of a job before the next semester starts..." His wife only hummed softly, averting her gaze from him. He sighed, knowing that it was going to take a lot more to get passed that stubbornness of hers, but goddammit he was going to try. "Just think about it at least?"
"...Okay, Ara."
"Thank you." He sighed, kissing his wife's forehead. "Do you know what it does to me, seeing you like this?"
"Can't help it." She pouted, folding her arms and looking away defiantly. "I never did like asking for help - you know that!"
"But you're stressed."
"I'll be okay, Aragon. I just...I just need to lay down..." The large dragon raised an eyebrow before he picked up Aquila, causing her to yelp as she found herself sitting on top of the desk. He one of his paws to hold and pin her wrist, the other slinking between her thighs and slowly up her skirt. She squirmed under him, her cheeks flushing blue as she could do nothing but watch her husband unbutton her blouse using her teeth and exposing her entire torso. The dragon king left a train of kisses along her jaw, down her neck and on the exposed areas of her breasts.
"A-Ara..!" She gasped, seeing his markings glowing once more as the door was shut, followed by the loud click of the lock turning. "Ara wait--" He cut her off by locking their lips together in a heavy kiss, his paw slithering further up her skirt until she could feel his claws gently pulling at her panties. The kiss was broken, Aragon moving down her neck once again and stopped at the sweet spot at the base of her neck and shoulder. He kiss, licked and nibble at it, knowing that that activity would get her riled. And oh was he right; Aquila moaned out despite herself, feeling her nether regions beginning to stir from the intimate activity. Aragon's nostrils was filled with the scent of his wife's musk, causing him to smirk against her scales before he tore off her panties completely, the only thing covering her crotch was her skirt, and even it was being ridden up past her thighs. Aquila could do nothing as she was pinned against the desk, Aragon having free reign over her body to do as he pleased, leaving her a blushing, writhing mess under him. Said dragon lifted his head and savored the sight of his wife helpless, pinned and aroused.
"I think you're in need of a proper stress reliever." He murmured huskily into her ear, two fingers running along her wet clit and lips. The ivory dragoness bit back on a moan, which ended up sounding like a soft whimper. Aragon grabbed her lace bra with his teeth, silently thankful that the clamp was in the front rather than the back this time. However, he had years of practice under his belt, and he was able to undo the clamp and let the garment fall to expose her breasts. He licked along those supple mounds, using his tongue to trace circles around her areola before prodding her nipple. After earning a moan in response, he pulled away, leaving a strand of saliva that connected his tongue to her nipple. He kissed her again, sliding both fingers into her pussy and used his thumb to prod and rub her clit, earning another moan as she writhed once more.
A throaty purr rumbled in Aragon's throat as he thrust his fingers into her, the smaller dragoness struggling against him but to no avail as he kept her pinned as he had his way. She could feel an orgasm nearing, her chest heaving as she readied herself for the waves of pleasure to erupt through her body...until Aragon suddenly pulled away, releasing her wrist and pulling his fingers out of her wet nethers. "Wha..." Aquila panted, feeling absolutely cheated as she sat up, looking pleadingly to her husband who had taken her panties from the ground.
"If you want to finish," he smirked, licking his fingers and savoring the taste of his aroused mate. "then you will leave this office and never return for the rest of the night." He swiftly turned and walked towards the door, an air of confidence and swagger radiating from him as he opened the door, but paused to look back at his wife. "You know where to find me.~"
And he left. Just like that, leaving poor Aquila horny and denied. With her panties, no less! The dragoness quickly gathered her bearings and tried to tidy herself up best of her ability before she stormed out behind him with a huff. He was not getting away that easily!
"Fucking tease..!"
