“Will... Damn it,” Daniel moaned, then started to jog in the direction Willow had fled – soon – he was running, screaming Willow's name.

His mind was in turmoil. Had he missed any warning signs, any red flags about what had happened when he'd met Willow's parents? Sure, she was a _beautiful _doe, in her own right – but Daniel had no thoughts or even the barest hint of fantasy – about pursuing a relationship with his lover's mother! As he ran, tears sliding down his cheeks and blinding him, Daniel felt the whip of branches as he pushed through the ever-thickening brush. His mind flailed at him, asking him questions he couldn't possibly answer – as his knowledge about the Cervid people was limited at best.

“Damn it, Willow, my love, where are you?” Daniel moaned, slowing to a trot, then stopping, resting his palms on his thighs and breathing heavily.

Daniel wasn't going to give up on Willow – he loved every part of him and then some – he'd find him, and whatever he'd done wrong – he'd make right, he swore it.

Breaking into a run again, Daniel continued his search for his sweet, gentle stag, come hell or high water – he'd search the ends of the earth for him – and make right what had gone so terribly wrong...

*

At last, Daniel found Willow, curled up into a ball, sobbing heartbrokenly like an orphaned Fawn.

“Willow, oh thank the Goddess I found you - “ Daniel moaned, as he walked over and knelt beside his mate.

“Get away from me - “ Willow wailed piteously.

Daniel flinched at the hurtful words, then placed both hands on Willow's forearms and gently pulled him to his quivering cloven hooves, holding him from behind and hugging him tight.

“No, I won't - “ Daniel whispered, as he nuzzled Willow's nape. “Willow, you know me, I'd never, ever, do anything to hurt you my sweet! I love you, my shy, sweet, gentle Buck! Nothing, nothing would ever come between you and me! I love only you, from the second I saw you, and until our last days – I swear, my heart only belongs to you...”

Willow's tears slowly slowed, before he shuddered and turned his head to the side, looking at Daniel, before he looked away.

“You only want me because of what I am... If I was a proper, respectful, and upstanding member of my society...”

“No, my dear, sweet, gentle stag – then we'd never have met, fallen in love, or...”

Willow hung his head, swallowing convulsively, before he slowly turned around, looking through his long eyelashes up at Daniel.

“You don't mean that - “ Willow sniffled.

“What do I need to do Willow, to prove myself to you? Tell me, please! I love you, for you, no one else...”

“Daniel - “ Willow began, then pulled back and turned away, a shuddering breath wracking him as he stared down at his cloven hooves. “I'm...so confused right now, I don't know what to say or think! My emotions are being scattered to the four winds because of the rut, and then there was that with my mother... I just don't know what to think or feel anymore!”

Daniel gasped, his eyes going wide; before he shuddered, then gently wrapped his arms around Willow's chest and pulled him close, kissing the back of Willow's head.

“I... will not say I understand my love, I can not begin to imagine, for I am not of your kind. Yet I know it's okay to feel confused and lost, but together, we'll get through this and anything else the fates throw at us – because our love for each other is all that matters, isn't it? I'm here for you my dear, gentle-hearted Stag, every step of the way, no matter what.”

Willow leaned back into Daniel's embrace, taking comfort and warmth from his lover, a sense of safety coming over him.

“I don't...know how to make it right - “ Willow sniffled, hanging his head. “I feel like I've just messed everything up between us...”

Daniel turned Willow around, taking his paws in his hands and holding them tight.

“You haven't messed anything up, my dear. We're in this together, thick and thin, remember? Together, we'll face this, pass through it, and emerge stronger and closer, I promise!”

Willow's eyes began to glisten with tears, but this time, they were tears of relief. “I... don't know what I'd do without you Daniel, I love you so much...”

Daniel smiled weakly, his own eyes turning misty, as he gently kissed away Willow's tears and held his lover close. “You'll never have to find out my dear, as I'll always be here for you, no matter what...”

*

Daniel regularly checked on Willow, for the first few days, when he couldn't, he'd call him and Willow alternated between snarling at him, or bursting into hysterical tears. Finally, Daniel got to meet with Willow in person, when he pulled up outside Willow's apartment, Willow standing on the pavement, a large suitcase before him.

As Willow loaded it into the boot of Daniel's car and then shut it, before climbing in, Willow looked ragged and exhausted.

“Everything okay my love?” Daniel asked, leaning over and kissing Willow gently on the cheek, before his eyes narrowed, scenting the strong, almost intoxicating scent coming from Willow.

Willow looked sideways at Daniel, then looked away and shivered.

Daniel nodded and didn't say a word, Willow's strong scent telling him more than he ever would with words.

Poor Stag, Daniel thought, as he turned around and headed out of the city. Torn between his urges and his true self – I can't begin to even imagine how it must feel...

“I didn't mean it - “ Willow suddenly sniffled. “It's... it is the...”

Daniel placed a hand lightly on Willow's thigh, giving a gentle, loving caress.

“It's alright Willow, there's no need to speak of it love, I know your – inhibitions about speaking about that...”

“Yet...” Willow stammered, his ears slapping down, and as Daniel glanced at him seeing Willow's inner ears turn crimson. “It's...wrong, what I have done...”

With a heavy sigh, Daniel left his hand on Willow's thigh and smiled weakly. “Willow? It's okay, isn't it better to release this – tension – safely, than to let it turn to aggression and violence?”

“What...” Willow shivered, looking out the window. “What if...it makes me lose my self-control? What if I hurt you?”

Daniel squeezed Willow's thigh reassuringly. “We'll take it nice and easy Willow. We'll make sure both of us are comfortable and safe, I promise. If at any point, you feel it's too much, we'll stop – no questions asked or guilt, okay?”

Willow glanced back at Daniel, tears welling in his brown eyes. “I... trust you, Daniel, I love you so much, it hurts to be without you, even for a moment - “

“I know, my dear, sweet-hearted Stag, I feel the same for you, so I'm taking you away from all of... this - “ Daniel gestured at the city. “Deep into the woods, far from the stress and bustle. “I have us booked into a lovely, secluded cabin, about three hours drive away. Here, we'll explore these feelings – together, gently and consensually, my love... I've been – scared, Willow - “

“Of...us – being intimate?” Willow whispered, his eyes going wide.

Daniel shuddered and gave a weak nod. “I'm...not a Cervid, Willow – I know nothing about lovemaking with your kind – I'm scared I'll hurt you, or worse...frighten you...”

Willow blinked, then used his furred fingers to dry his eyes, before he glanced nervously over at Daniel.

“I'm...not a Stag, Daniel...”

“You...You are a Stag, Willow – just not a stag.... you're not aggressive and violent, nor are you driven to challenge for breeding rights and...”

Willow managed a weak smile. “Cervids are different from our wild cousins, my love...”

“Urgh, then please my dear, please help me to understand. Help me to make this weekend as special for you, as I can make it!”

Willow shivered, then timidly placed his paw on Daniel's thigh, ever so gently stroking it, his hooflets scratching lightly at the prickling skin.

“With you, my love? It'll be more than enough...”

*

It was early evening; when Daniel's car's headlights shone on the exterior of the cabin and Willow's breath was snatched away.

“Oh...” Willow gasped, as he looked out the windscreen at the cabin.

It was nestled deep in the heart of a dense forest, surrounded almost completely by towering pine trees that reached for the sky itself. It was small, but not uncomfortable in its size – perfect for a couple. It had a sloping roof and wooden shingles. Its exterior walls were thick, sturdy logs that must have been cut from the forest itself. A small wooden porch completed the image, wrapping around the two sides and the front, with two rocking chairs on either side of the front door, replete with a handmade table at each.

“It's...beautiful - “ Willow whispered, stepping from Daniel's car and tilting his head back, nostrils flaring in inhaling the scents of the forest.

“Better than I was lead to believe - “ Daniel admitted, as he retrieved their bags from the boot of his car.

Willow frowned, then took his suitcase, before he knelt down and opened it. Daniel watched as Willow produced two strange boot-like things; before he clicked his suitcase closed again.

“What...are those...boots?

Willow sat on the ground, awkwardly tugging them one over his cloven hooves, then affixing the straps so they fit snuggly over each hoof.

“I don't...like them - “ Willow admitted. “Yet I'd rather be forced to wear these; than to damage the wooden patio with my cloven hooves. The last thing we want my love, is for you to get a bill for 'incidental damages'.”

Daniel laughed nervously, then nodded. “You're right, of course...”

*

Opening the door, Willow froze like a deer in headlights, as the sight and smells filled him to overflowing, and then some.

“Woah...” Willow murmured.

As Daniel brushed past the stunned Willow, even he was amazed and entranced.

First thing they both saw was the warm glow of the crackling fireplace, already lit and devouring the sweet-scented logs. Warmth radiated from the stone fireplace at the left side of the cabin. The room was decorated tastefully with rustic, hand-crafted wooden furniture, plush couches ad cozy, warm blankets draped over them. The walls were tastefully decorated with beautiful landscape paintings, adding to the warmth and love the cabin exuded.

On the coffee table near the fireplace, there were a few lightly scented candles, filling the air with the sweet aroma of lavender and vanilla. Their flickering light cast a warm, soft glow, creating a relaxing and calm atmosphere. Opposite the fireplace, sat a hand-made queen-sized bed, covered in soft blankets and oversized, fluffy pillows.

“I never imagined - “ Willow murmured, inhaling deep of the scent of the candle and sighing in pleasure, his body visibly relaxing.

Daniel smiled, placing their two suitcases at the foot of the bed, before he sat down and watched Willow, who walked around, his hooflets trailing over things, his mind shocked and bewildered, before he finally sat on the edge of the couch and stared wide-eyed at Daniel.

“All this...” Willow murmured, gesturing off-handedly.

“For both of us my love, I wanted our first time together – to be romantic and sensual... I was not...” Daniel blushed and hung his head. “Expecting it to be...”

Willow swallowed, then stood and slowly made his way to Daniel, who stood up and slid his arms around Willow's hips. Willow shivered and looked up, as Daniel smiled and pressed his lips against Willows, their tongues mingling and playfully wrestling together. For an unknown time, their kissed, and cuddled and Daniel even teasingly reached down and ran his fingers through Willow's wedgelike tail, making the startled Whitetail moan and quiver.

As the cabin was filled with the gentle flickering from the scented candles and the pop and crackle of the logs in the fireplace, Daniel gently disengaged from Willow and went to the side of the bed turning down the coverlet before he walked back to his beloved and took his paws in Daniel's hands.

“My love, will you permit me to share my love, and myself, with you?” Daniel asked.

Willow's muzzle opened, then he blinked and shut it quietly, before blushing – his inner ears turning crimson before they flattened.

“Dan...” Willow whispered, before hanging his head, gazing coyly up through his long slightly curved eyelashes. “What took you so long to ask?”

Daniel blushed, as he sat Willow down on the edge of the bed, starting with gently slipping Willow's shirt off, sliding it down his furred arms, and letting it fall to the timber floor beside the bed. Shirtless, Willow leaned backward, his palms resting on the bed, as he let Daniel take in Willow's lithe, athletic, yet still effeminate body and musculature.

“Are you going to tease me all night my love?” Willow smirked, flicking his ears.

Daniel blushed even worse, before he reached down and nervously slipped his fingers into Willow's shorts. As he slid them down Willow's hips, Willow lifted himself up, allowing Daniel to easier slide them down his furred legs, before he stepped out of them. As Daniel began gently kissing and nuzzling his way back up Willow's quivering left leg, Daniel's eyes widened and he blushed, seeing that Cervid obviously didn't believe in undergarments.

Willow shivered, naked and exposed, before he rolled his furred shoulders and smiled up at Daniel.

“I am all yours, my love, my heart, my body, and my soul – are freely given in love and bond to you, my mate.”

Daniel paused, mid-way through removing his own shirt. Something in Willow's voice, the words specifically, giving him a moment's pause to think... He gasped as Willow giggled in that sweet, innocent way, then tugged Daniel's shirt off and threw it aside.

“Mmm,” Willow murmured, slipping his paws around Daniel's back, then his supple tongue licking and lips plucking gently at Daniel's hairless chest. “I couldn't eat whole human...”

Willow!” Daniel squeaked, then went a brilliant burgundy color.

Willow smiled innocently, as Daniel slid his boxer shorts down, then stood before the open-muzzled and staring Willow, whose ears instantly went flat and he swallowed what he felt was a soccer ball shoved down his throat.

“Oh...” Willow wheezed, his eyes going wider than Daniel thought possible, as he looked down. “Oh, dear...”
