Rogue and Hellhound: Passion and Permanence
Calum and Lillin embark on the last mission of their agreement. As their deal reaches its end Calum contemplates his future, unwittingly about to face a test that will determine the rest of his mortal life and beyond.
Taking a rest from their long trek Calum lay in the soft bed. He slept in a fancy suite, far nicer than the rogue usually sprang for. But Lillin had convinced him to rent it, the bed large and soft as he felt it billowing around him.
He smiled as he felt a warm tongue across his cheek, waking him as he stirred.
His hand reached out, finding Lillin's back as he pet over her soft fur. As he came to awareness he felt her paws across his chest, a comforting warmth over him as they lay under the covers.
Opening his eyes he glanced over to Lillin's lapping muzzle. The ominus glowing red eyes of the hellhound now a comforting sight to the man after a month on the road together.
Seeing him wake Lillin pulled back, smiling as he reached up to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
She felt his hands rubbing down her body, pressing into her fur with a certain intensity as he stroked.
“Need something, dear?" Lillin giggled, watching Calum's breath quicken as he reached down for her hips, subtly pulling her against him.
“We didn't do anything last night..." He huffed, having rented the room the day before just as they entered town.
“You fell right to sleep, I didn't even get a chance to ask." Lillin laughed.
“I was exhausted… I do all the walking between us." Calum groaned, running a hand under Lillin's belly as she raised her hips for him.
Reaching under her he was quick to find her canine lips, his whole hand closing over her shape. Lillin's hips raised as she curled against Calum's hand, feeling his delightful human fingers on her sex. The bed sheets tented over her, hiding the lewd attention as her tail swished off the edge of the bed.
“Mmhphh… you made me wait all night." The demoness moaned, having had to lay next to the mortal until he woke for her.
Calum smiled to her, fingers squeezing her lips as he felt her hips buck down against him. His hand and her groin gave a slow dance under the sheets, her tail arching up with her body as they let their passion rise together.
“You need to make it up to me..." Lillin moaned, lifting her body as the sheets began to slip from her back.
With a swipe of her paw she threw the covers off of them both, revealing Calum's nude body and his strong erection pointed high.
She stepped over him, forepaws and hindpaws on either side of his body as she curled above him. She thrust her hips, heavy pussy bouncing as Calum's eyes fixed to it.
Balancing, her forepaws reached down, pulling the back of Calum's head as he sat up to meet Lillin's body.
Without hesitation he kissed her feminine lips, slow and gentle at first as he looked up the demoness's body, peering past her pert teets to her grinning face. He had grown fond of this foreplay, tasting the demoness's invigorating essence on his lips as he shamelessly indulged her body.
His hands ran up her hips, giving praise to her as he eagerly pleasured her.
“Such a gentle boy..." She cooed, feeling Calum between her open thighs, tongue slipping into her pussy as he was smothered in her demonic taste.
His fingers reached in to rub both sides of her billowing sex. Tongue pushing in he opened and licked against her sensitive nub. His mouth opened wide, impassionaitely kissing her sex as she ozzed all around him. He didn't hesitate, eyes rolling back as he felt pure sexual magic on his lips.
His blood pumped harder, erection raging between his bowed legs as he felt sexual delight coursing through his body. He had hesitated at first, Lillin having to entice him slowly. But now he craved it, Lillin's hearty scent and taste filling him as he let it invigorate his body.
Lillin's paws stayed planted on the back of Calum's head, shoulders high and forelegs holding straight as she looked down to her human lover. She drew him up between her thighs as her hips rolled gently against him, feeling the mans eager tongue rubbing and tasting her as he followed her motion.
The fingers around her sex slipped further, two pushing into her moist passage as his others compressed around her, squeezing her and his tongue within. He kept himself in motion, felling Lillin's nub under his strong tongue. Every little circle and flick sent a palpable cord of pleasure into the demoness, her tail wagging slow and wide as she held him against herself.
Lillin's chest heaved, feeling Calum's mouth on her femininity. He knew her pleasures, the whims of her body as he carefully caressed her. His fingers pushed in and out, her nerves singing out as her spine curled, pushing her canine hips against the man's face as he reveled in her.
Her maw opened wide, smiling as she felt her pleasure rising into a lustful haze.
Looking behind her she saw Calum's cock, twitching desperately as precum slid down his bulging shape. He was getting close himself, the magic of her intimate body seeping into him as he yearned for her. She could feel his hands grasping harder, tongue mashing her sensitive nerves just how she had taught him.
But she really wanted him inside her, feeling the human like foreplay well preparing her to be taken. She didn't want to wait another moment.
The paws cradled against his head released, one paw pushing against Calum's forehead as she forced him to reluctantly separate from her pussy.
He looked up, mouth dripping wet as he met her eyes with a silent need.
Lillin let her body fall backwards, landing between Calum's spread legs as she sunk into the large mattress.
“In me… finish in me." Lillin moaned out, spreading wide as she invited the man to properly rut her.
Calum just stared at her soaked pussy, his own cock surging between them.
Quickly jumping up onto all fours he grabbed around her hips. Calum looked down to her with a desperate hunger, a primal drive moving him as he felt Lillin's warm body under him.
Fingers digging into her fur he thrust forward with his heavy cock. He humped against her, feeling her lips against his sensative cockhead as he rolled and rocked, slipping lower as he began to sink into her body.
Her heat radiated out as he dove in, his flesh singing out in joy at her embrace. His body craved nothing less, moaning aloud as he slowly fell into her soft flesh.
“Take me." Lillin moaned, feeling her well slickened lips slide open eagerly for the human cock.
She moaned aloud as Calum hilted himself into her, feeling his girth spread her once again as their pleasure surged back between them.
Calum wordlessly gasped, mouth open as Lillin's paws wrapped around his neck. He settled against her, feeling Lillin's heavy chest against his own as he looked down to her smiling face. Their bodies drew up together as the man prepared to let loose in his beutiful hellhound once again.
Calum's hips worked hard as they bounced together on the bed, friction and heat swelling between them as Lillin received the mans desire. His well teased and pleasured body was already quaking, ready to do just as his demoness had asked.
“I… I'm..." Calum gasped, bouncing against her as his desperate body tightened, pure heat washing over him.
“Cum..." Lillin moaned, commanding him as Calum gave in with a firm grunt, pleasure surging into him as he came.
Human and demonic flesh squeezed together, nerves vibrating as Calum felt himself inside of her, heat wrapping and pulling as his body surged.
His hips ground into her open thighs, giving shallow pumps as he came. His eyes were lidded, smiling as he felt the familiar and intense sensation of Lillin's body holding around him as he pumped.
“Ahhhh… yes..." He groaned, letting the feeling wash over him as she held tight, cock twitching as he filled her. He kept giving little thrusts against her, reaching deep as he let every motion prolong his pleasure.
Finally, his hips gave one last thrust up into her before his body sank down into the billowing mattress.
“Delightful..." He moaned, body still humming with the feeling as he felt her pulsing around him. Her own needs still waiting as she lay back, paws needily holding against his neck.
Calum reared back, slipping from her wet flesh as his spent cock dripped above her.
He was quick to replace himself with his hand, reaching in as he manhandled her pussy yet again. Two fingers pushed up to the knuckle, feeling her body grip at him as he continued his stimulation of the demoness, rubbing her clit under his strong thumb.
He hovered over her, arm holding firm between her spread legs as she looked up to him, her body quivering as she felt his passion for her, his joy after claiming her body.
“One hell of a way to wake up..." Calum moaned, feeling his own cum slickening his fingers as he toyed with her pussy.
“You can't keep those hands off of me..." Lillin moaned back, feeling the mans eagerness.
Crawling a little closer Calum kissed against her large chest, landing firmly on one of Lillin's long nipples as he took it between his lips.
He gently sucked at her tit, other hand petting up her side as he felt her demonic heart beating in her chest.
Grinning Calum pinched her tit between his teeth, pulling back before releasing her soft, flexible nipple. His lips returned, diving lower as his tongue tasted another nipple, lips closing as he relished Lillin's entire body.
In their time together the human had become quite attuned to the hellhound bitch. He held no more shame or hesitation with her, indulging utterly as he felt and tasted her tender flesh.
Lillin's paw pet down his head, watching him suck on her as his fingers worked to keep her well stimulated, her upper back pressing down into the mattress as she arched for him.
There was no pleasure so grand, no body so fine as hers, he thought. Meeting her eyes he relished the unusual passion they shared.
His erection was once again at full strength, raging between his thighs as Calum lifted himself back up between her open legs.
Lillin's forepaws hooked onto her own thighs, spreading herself wide and high as she looked to her man, her tongue hanging free as she panted for him.
She loved how he moved to take her, not a word as sheer desire drove him. The taste of her pussy and teets were still on his lips as his moist cock slotted back into her tender flesh.
Calum's spine curled, hips giving a slow dance as he felt himself locked within her heat again. His hands braced against the bed, either side of Lillin as he let his lower body do the work.
“Mmm yes..." He groaned, hips swiveling and pumping in between Lillin's spread thighs.
“Hmm… you've always had trouble resisting seconds..." Pulling her legs open she moaned to him, relishing his hard cock thrusting inside of her again.
Ever since their very first meeting he couldn't help himself, his mortal mind overcome with the nearly divine pleasure of demonic sex. She often like to tease him with it, holding back more sex until she had her fun with him. But today she was feeling generous, opening her body wide for him.
“And the face you always make..." Lillin laughed, her chest heaving as her pleasure swelled.
“It feels better each time..." Calum grinned, even his familiarity with her pleasure doing nothing to diminish it.
Calum's thrust were strong, feet planted on the bed as he angled Lillin down into the sheets, her body curled up as her hips aimed high for him.
Her billowing lips held him, the texture and heat of her body driving him on as he felt another orgasm building deep within.
Each pull of her flesh ran down his length, the undeniable temptation to cum again, to feel her holding around him as he let loose into her delightful body.
The image in his head drove him harder, thighs slapping into hers as his cock reached deep.
Rearing himself back Calum's hands rose from the bed, cupping against her cheek as lillin smiled up to him, mutual lust flowing through them. He gently pet her, other hand running up her curled belly as he fondled her teets. Her body rocked with him, the hellhound bitch moaning aloud as he looked into her glowing eyes.
“My beautiful, sexy bitch..." He gasped out his praise, cock thrusting into her wet pussy as her seal around him held tight.
“Mhhmmmm… I am." Lillin moaned, feeling his body stretching over her as she curled submissively below.
Her forepaws slid inward, thighs still holding wide as her paw pads slipped up against her stretched pussy lips.
She watched with rapt eyes as Calum plunged and pulled from her, feeling around his cock as her lips stretched and compressed with his quickening motion.
She felt herself, him, their unholy union growing more vigorous as their lower bodies smashed and pulled at each other.
The bed shook and creaked, tapping against the back wall as Calum worked himself up into a frenzy, mouth agape as he felt the swelling pleasure within him.
As he held her body and pumped hard into her Lillin's eyes lowered, letting herself be utterly dominated as she spread herself, pierced deep and hard by the lustful human.
Looking between them she watched herself get railed, pleasure cresting as she grit her teeth.
“Ahhhh..! AHHH!! RGHHH!!!!!" Lillin shouted out, body jerking back as Calum continued to ride atop her. At her release the bed shook hard, the whole room shuddering for a moment.
Even with his rapid thrusts Lillin could feel every inch of the mans cock, his flesh pulsing, blood pumping. He was ready to burst and express his utter devotion to her.
As she came her canine pussy grasp at him, her tight flesh pulling and begging for his cum.
Gritting his teeth calum pushed his body harder, feeling Lillin's flesh moved with him until he was held tight. Against her strength he finally burst, cock vibrating as he came within her cumming pussy.
“Girl! Oh girl Oh fuck!" He moaned out, breath escaping him as Lillin writhed within the throws of her own demonic climax under him. She heard his words, letting his passion fuel her as she moaned for him.
With a long breath Lillin calmed, eyes opening as she felt Calum still cumming.
The man hunched above her, cock pumping as his face held in the throes of her divine pleasure.
“Mmphh… mmm… mmm..." He groaned, feeling his vigorous effort rewarded with another extended orgasm. In all their times together he never lasted more than a few moments in her pussy when she came. The pleasure coursing through her was overwhelming, the greatest thing the man had ever experienced.
Even as they cooled their hips gently ground into each other, fur and flesh pushing as Calum pet and grasped her body, her paws rising to hug around his neck.
She leaned up as he leaned down, mouth and muzzle pressing together as they shared an impassioned kiss.
Lips and tongues slapped and pulled at one another, a deep, primal passion between them as their bodies held tight below. It had become an unspoken pact between them, letting their passion and love for one another out as they swam within the throes of their afterglow.
Lillin giggled under him, long tongue sliding up the mans whole face as he smiled haplessly at her attention, returning his own as he kissed her firmly on the lips.
Pulled back they both huffed into the air, satisfaction holding their bodies together as Lillin began to push against his chest.
Calum's tired body yielded, feeling the demoness rock him back until he hit the sheets.
Lillin smiled above, holding both paws against Calum's chest as her body sat tall above him.
She looked down to the winded man, reveling in his fascination with her as she posed, one paw running up her chest.
“Delightful, am I not?" She teased down to him, hips beginning to move.
Lillin's hips swung about, feeling Calum still hard inside of her. His stamina had increased greatly since meeting her, his eyes low in sexual bliss as his lovely demoness danced in his lap.
“Sexy as hell..." He moaned, hands reaching out and holding around her as Lillin began to roll her hips a top him, feeling his hard cock stretched and pulled by her body.
Her motions remained slow, letting Calum watch her as she danced atop him.
They were content in the slower pace, bodies still eager as they savored each tiny pulse, each slide of their intimate flesh.
“Looks like we aren't going anywhere for awhile." Calum moaned, hands following Lillin's slow dance as he held her.
“Just one more time." Lillin smiled, having become quite attached to Calum's praise.
They lay together for awhile longer, Lillin's slow but relentless dance bringing the already spent man back to gasping below, his body climbing ever closer to another orgasm inside the bitch's delightful lips.
Her motions were practiced and purposeful. She had learned the man's body well, feeling his building pleasure as she let him teter on the edge, pleasure ebbing and surging with her dance atop his rock hard cock.
“Oh babe… you feel so good." Calum's tired words fell to her ears.
“I know… because I'm the best." Lillin gloated, letting her pearly white teeth grin as her hips gave a larger swing, elicing a hard moan from Calum has his body flowed with her.
“I'm so sexy… what man could resist?" She said, leaning back with a paw held behind her head, posing with her chest puffed out.
Calum just groaned below her as he stared at her bouncing teets, affirming her prowess.
Her hind paws braced wide against the bed, holding her up above the man as she continued to swivel on his cock. She laughed out into the air, feeling sexy and confident as Calum looked up to her with shameless lust. Between them her lips compressed, their impassioned embrace leaking out onto the bed as Calum's body shuddered, ready to release yet again.
“Oh baby… I'm gonna bust again..." He gasped, unable to hold back as Lillin's teasing hips swung and pulled him past the line, his body already falling into climax as he huffed into the air.
“Cum for your lady..." She moaned, feeling Calum twitch as she rolled over him, feeling his male body surging into her for the third time.
Pressing his back against the bed Calum groaned wordlessly, feeling the cum sucked from him by Lillin's slow delightful pace.
He bit his lip, limbs shuddering as his hands clung desperately around her waist, pushing her body down as he burst up into her. Eyes and teeth clenched he held, quivering as he felt weak from the pleasure. His mind could focus on nothing else, cock spurting as Lillin squeezed to help him on his way.
Finally his grip weakened, body seeming to sink deep into the bed, Lillin's weight pressing down on his hips.
Body drained he just panted, arms falling against the sheets as he felt sapped, a wide smile across his face at the most open and pleasurable sex of his life.
Looking down Lillin braced herself against the bed, lifting her body as she felt their tender flesh reluctantly separating.
Lifting from Calum's long cock she felt herself become uncorked, cum trickling out as the mans cockhead popped out with a wet squirt.
Squatting over his cock Lillin pushed her hips forward, watching with him as she dripped over him.
“Mmm… you made another mess." She laughed. Forepaws holding her thighs as her body curled in, tongue lapping at herself as she began to clean her oozing body.
Calum just stared, his virility squirt deep within the demoness. Since meeting her he had never cum more in his life, her subtle magic driving his innermost passion.
Calum's hand raised, pushing up against his soaked cock as he pressed it against Lillin's dripping sex.
Her tongue eagerly wrapped around him, her maw wide as she lapped over their soiled genitals.
He moaned as her tongue slipped over him, cleaning him as his overstimulated nerves quivered against her tongue.
Pushing down Lillin's tongue pressed him into her soaked pussy lips. Seeing his offer she teasingly wrapped around him as she slurped over their combined bodies. She savored their mixed tastes, the unusual combination of human cock and hellhound pussy.
Hips pulling back he slipped free, his cock slick and hot as it wobbled in the air. He was mostly clean, Lillin still digging deep as she tasted the mans excess cum oozing from her.
With a sigh he reached for a pillow, slipping it under his head as he leaned back.
“Are you ready for our next mission?" Lillin spoke up, lifting from her groin and laying down beside Calum as he relaxed.
Lillin had only told him the basics of the plan so far, they were here for a special crystal stolen from her master years before. Lillin was not tracking with her nose for once on their journey, she knew exactly where the artifact was.
“After I take a rest..." Calum breathed, body still worn from the exertion.
“Well, i'll give you the full briefing now." She said, head turning to the rooms window overlooking the city.
The city was set along a large hillside, many layers of roads and structures stretching out as smoke rose from the many dwellings.
“There is our target." She pointed, bringing Calum's eyes to a large wizards tower along the edge of the city, set away from everything else.
“We are going to rob the archmage..." Calum looked blankly to the tower, growing worried about the mission already.
“The archmage is not whom you mortals think he is..." The demoness cocked her head.
“Remember that scroll we took care of?"
“Yeah, I remember." Calum sighed, not forgetting their wild night at the auction and the escape with the trapped scroll.
“There were more of them made, and some of them found an unsuspecting reader. The archmage was possessed then fully assimilated decades ago. A greater demon now parades around as him, working upon your plane for some wicked plan."
“Azoth the Unbidden is a rival of my clan, we have feuded for as long as I can remember. I'm here to take back what is ours, and to cripple their ties to the mortal world."
“Your not helping to assure me about this..." Calum said worryingly, neither wanting to face down an archmage nor a greater demon.
“Good news is, he's not home." Lillin smiled back to him.
“Half a continent away for a mage's sumit, this is the perfect opportunity to sneak in."
“Meanwhile the local guard are forbidden to enter, they should be little trouble."
“It will be trapped, it will be warded." Calum had to pipe up.
“Yes, all things you are familiar with." She assured.
“I can take the first steps forward if you are worried, I can take quite a bit of punishment." The immortal hellhound smiled, knowing she didn't have to worry about death like him.
“Ok… " Calum sighed, knowing he was going to have to do this one way or another. With the archmage gone things would be achievable, but still worry gripped him from elsewhere.
Something had been on Calum's mind for weeks, a question that he couldn't delay any further.
“When you get the crystal… what will happen then?" He asked, knowing their original deal was until she had completed her missions. And now on the eve of their last mission he had to face what would come after.
“I will go back to my master and present him his prize, taking my place with him again." She said, laying next to the man as he looked down to her, an obvious worry in his eyes.
“I can stay a little longer…two days to make it the full thirty five." Lillin spoke up, breaking the silence between them.
The companionship, the sex, everything about her had grown on him. It seemed unthinkable that she would soon leave the mortal plane. How could he just carry on as normal after all this?
“So… I won't see you again?" He asked, having been afraid to broach the topic before.
“Oh Calum… I don't want to think about that." Lillin sighed, wanting to enjoy the moments with him as long as she could. Her own feelings were held back, Calum feeling it as he pet down her back.
“What if I could stay with you? Help you search for more artifacts… " He asked, hoping for a chance.
“That is not for me to decide… The next time I come to your world it may be decades… centuries."
“So I must return… I cannot disobey my master." She said, knowing she could never forsake her family. As much as she enjoyed traveling and spending time with Calum she could not stay forever.
“I will ask him… but we do not usually deal with mortals, my trips here are rare." She sadly stated. She wasn't supposed to have developed feelings like this, dreading the moment she would likely last see him.
Mortals and immortals were not supposed to be together, the complications of their current predicament a testament to that. But here she was, hoping that perhaps her master would understand her feelings and let her visit the man again. He had proved useful for her, maybe it could be. So she let the thought comfort her, having some confidence she would see him again, though she hesitated to speak it, never wanting to break her word.
He wished she wasn't bound as she was, that he could just whisk her away. But it wouldn't be so, there was no more delaying their final mission. So he relaxed with her, heeding her advice to enjoy the moment as it lasted. Whatever happened she was here with him now, his strong arms pulling her close as his cheek rested against her smooth fur.
Their time together had been mindblowing for the man, even a day with a girl like her was more than many had in a lifetime. But even after almost a month with the demoness he couldn't imagine losing what he had.
Night had fallen, half moon in the sky as Calum made his way to the tower. As he walked he felt Lillin in his head, her now usual presence giving him a sense of comfort.
“I'm going to miss this..." He had to speak up, Lillin no doubt already sensing his sadness.
“Calum..." She responded, sounding forlorn at the reminder.
“It's nice to just talk to you sometimes." He smiled, having gotten rather open with the demoness, able to share a passing thought or musing on the world.
It would be sad to once again walk alone, no longer having the security and companionship of the demoness.
“We need to focus on the mission." Lillin spoke up, trying to redirect the conversation. It was an unusual role reversal, Calum often being the one to keep Lillin's mind on the task at hand.
Calum sensed something odd from her. Lillin was usually very open, never hesitating to share a thought or whim. But recently he felt her holding something back, guarding her emotions for the first time they had ever been together.
But he also sensed her discomfort, letting his thoughts push back towards their mission as the tower loomed closer.
Around the exterior town guard kept watch over the empty structure. It would make things a little easier for Calum, only dealing with whatever the archmage had left behind once inside.
The guards had a solid patrol, a pair rotating about the structure as several sentries kept watch over the entrances. They were disciplined, no longer the half drunk bandits or half assed mercenaries they had dealt with before.
“This won't be easy." Calum thought to Lillin, both of them studying the guards and looking for opportunity.
Observing the structures around the tower an idea came to Calum's mind.
“Think you could get a fire going?" He said looking to a wooden granary next to the tower, a food store for those stationed here.
“That can be arranged..." She said, seeing the plan.
With the usual puff Lillin materialized before him, crouched low as her maw opened wide, aiming as she coughed out a small fireball.
Her muzzle dripped with flame for a moment, watching the ball of fire slip into a small window of the building with a dull thud.
Lillin let herself dematerialize back into Calum's head, watching through his eyes as they waited to see if the kindling had been set.
It took a minute before smoke began rolling from the window, the smell of burning wheat on the wind.
Calum moved from their hiding place among the trees, repositioning towards the main entrance as they waited, it would only be a matter of time before the distraction made itself noticed.
The patrolling guards stopped their rotation, noticing smoke now rolling from the foodstore as flame licked from the windows.
“Fire, Fire!" They yelled, bringing all the guards attention in the previously still hillside.
The guards out front stepped from their stations, one running forward as he took command.
“Buckets, now!" He shouted, not wanting to explain to the archmage why half the buildings burned on his return.
The patrolling guards rushed to a well, trying to fill buckets as the other guards rushed to save as much of the stored food as they could.
“You two! Keep watch, don't break the perimeter." The guard captain yelled out, seeing the front gate unattended as all the guards scrambled to help.
The men ran back to their posts, looking out to the treeline as the others scrambled to quell the fire.
Calum was already behind them, careful and quiet as he climbed up the tower, a hook latched to one of the lower windows as he pulled his way up.
The guards attention was focused outward, on their duty. A glance upward would reveal him easily, but he kept moving, knowing the unlikeliness of their attention falling upward as he moved silently.
The old worn stone of the tower was easy to climb, arms pulling hard as he made a quick ascent.
He reached the window, the grappling hook firmly around one of the bars.
Looking in the window Calum saw a simple storeroom with some old furniture and other discarded items.
As they had planned Lillin materialized inside of the room, looking out to Calum as her jaws bit down around the bars.
She squeezed and pulled, feeling the iron bolts crack the stone as her strength forced the bars to yield to her will.
With a pop the bars broke from the window sill. Lillin was quick to bite around Calum's cloak to help quickly bring him inside.
Bracing himself Calum hit the floor, eyes darting around as he saw their entry safe for the moment.
The iron bars lay under the window, leaving it wide open as he picked up the now bent bars. Calum pushed it against the window, finding the old bolt holes as the bars balanced weakly back in.
“That'll do..." He sighed, Lillin staying at his side as he glanced about the room again.
“Any luck that it's right here?" He asked, seeing many boxes and crates stacked in the storeroom.
“No, he's actively using the crystal. Its higher up." She said, looking to the door as she tracked her prize.
Lillin sniffed at the door frame, looking back to Calum as she gave a nod, this one clean of any magic.
Calum still carefully opened the door, unlocked as most interior doors would be. He heard no mechanics behind it.
The door opened into a dark hall, devoid of activity as a few paintings hung on the walls, a soft carpet leading down the hall.
Calum kept himself low, taking one step at a time as he searched. They were alone here, knowing he could take his time and be careful while the guards sat far below.
Lillin pushed ahead of him, keeping pace with him as she saw to her promise, ready to take the brunt of any trap he missed.
The hall was clear, seeming to be lined with guest bedrooms which had laid long abandoned.
The end of the hall held a spiraling staircase, leading up as Lillin confirmed the path.
Reaching the stairwell Calum stopped quick, seeing the slight glow of a rune on the floor.
“Hold, hold!" Calum whispered loudly, trying to grab Lillin as she stepped forward without pause.
“Meh." She huffed, stepping onto the rune as it flashed below her.
A jet of flame shot up from the ground, burning the stairwell as Lillin stood within.
The flame washed over her, Lillin turning her head as she bathed in the heat before it quickly fell away. The hellhound gave a hearty shake, soot falling from her fur as she looked back, unharmed.
“Feels nice." She smirked, seeing Calum breathing a sigh of relief.
“I forget fire is your thing..." He said, trying to settle his panic.
“Calum, nothing is going to happen to me." She called back to him, seeing the still worried look on the man.
“Lillin… just be careful." Calum sighed, not wanting to think about her falling into a much nastier trap.
She reached back, licking against his cheek as he felt a bit of her comfort wash off onto him.
“I think i'm the one that needs to worry about you." She smiled, letting Calum relax a bit as they took the moment together.
“Lets get it done." He breathed out, eyes looking up the stairs as they began to climb the tower.
Ascending the stairs they found a kind of laboratory, large magical equipment laying dormant.
The more sensitive items were locked up, magical alarms set on them as Lillin's nose failed to find her crystal among them.
So they continued, combing over the spaces as they made slow progress into the night.
As they searched the limited space in the tower they came up empty, Lillin unable to get a clearer read on her sense of it. It was here, but not here.
Even the archmages private quarters yielded nothing after Calum had broken the seal with Lillin's help. Not even any valuable items within reach, mostly mundane and decorative.
At a loss they stood back in the lab, Lillin sitting as she still failed to catch a trail.
“The bastard snake has it hidden..." She spoke in frustration.
“What do you suppose we do?" Calum asked, hoping Lillin had some idea where to check.
“Let's split up, you search the store rooms, there might be a good old fashioned hidden door."
“I'll comb over the top floors for magic switches." She announced.
“Lillin, we should stay together, just in case." Calum was quick to object.
“Calum we are fine, we already disarmed the traps and no one is here. It'll get us out faster before you start to tire."
“I just have a bad feeling about this place… it's unsettling." Calum spoke up, having felt a kind of dread since they had slipped into the tower. Or perhaps it was just his mind occupied with what would happen after the mission was done.
Either way if it got them out of here faster perhaps it was for the best, Calum agreeing as he headed back down the stairs to start combing more thoroughly.
Lillin began to more thoroughly search the rooms too, sniffing hard at even the bookshelves for anything that might aid in hiding the artifact.
She eventually made her way back into the mages bedroom where her attention fell on a small statuete. It was of a eagle in flight, easily passed over before. But now she noticed many scuffs across its metallic surface.
Reaching out she placed her paw upon it. At the touch she felt a magical switch within it, awaiting the right command as she confidently gave it.
The room gave a brief red flash, several items appearing in the room.
An array of weapons and other equipment lined the walls. Many of the hooks and stands lay empty, no doubt the items taken by the archmage on his journey.
But in the center of the room, held up by steel claws was the crystal.
It was large, holding a jagged shape as its sharp surface glowed with demonic energy.
It was a conduit back to the infernal plane, capable of bridging worlds to allow the demonic archmage to siphon energy to and from his masters realm.
Lillin's red eyes lit up, walking to the crystal as her paw touched its surface. Her master would be so pleased to have it back.
She turned around, ready to go find Calum before she was stopped dead by a figure looming over her.
In the doorway of the room was the archmage, standing in his robes as a demonic smile crossed his reptilian face.
He had let his normal disguise fade, revealing the snake like demon underneath as he stared down to Lillin, a forked tongue flicking as he regarded the hellhound.
“I knew Dar-Khernn would send one of his whores." He hissed, raising his staff as Lillin crouched back. Her nerves shuddered, knowing she was no match for the mage alone, yet she had no choice, readying to fight.
Jumping to the side, a bolt of electric energy just singed Lillin's fur as she coughed out a ball of flame in retaliation.
Her flame burst against his robes, the archmage taking the hit before he cast again.
Lillin just saw the magic javelin as she landed, unable to avoid the attack.
Wincing it hit her chest, smashing hard against her as she felt her body pushed back by its force.
The magic then separated out, wrapping around her as she felt her body tighten.
Struggling she could not move, the magic holding as the archmage tightened the bonds, giving a malevolent smile as he saw his prey subdued.
Rushing past the archmage were two magical phantasms, conjurations by the mage as they helped secure the thrashing hellhound.
Grabbing the magic binds the phantoms pulled, bringing Lillin's upper body off the ground as her forepaws were pulled taught.
Wincing Lillin felt the sharp pain of the binds, realizing her defeat as she looked up to the approaching demon.
He slithered on a snake like body, having arms like a man as his reptilian face held a coldness that made Lillin snarl.
“Arvinine..." She growled, recognizing the snake as a greater demon of Azoth. Arvinine was Azoth's right hand demon, no wonder they chose him to take the place of the archmage, conducting their efforts here upon the mortal plane.
“It seems I have the advantage now." The greater demon cackled, seeing the little hellhound helpless before him as she gave up, no longer fighting back.
Lillin could vividly remember battles between their clans before. She recalled when she last saw him, brutally tearing the snake apart with her sisters, reveling in their victory over their rivals.
As she hung before him Lillin's mind couldn't stop thinking to Calum, he had been right, it was not safe here. But at the same time he could do nothing against a demon like Arvinine.
While Lillin did not fear death, she knew her mortal partner was very vulnerable, and now he had been given the chance to escape.
“Now… where is that mortal you foolishly brought with you?" Arvinine spoke, moving closer as he held Lillin's chin up, staring devilishly down to her.
“He's a tricky one… hell if I know." Lillin defiantly smiled back. She was relieved, he did not know where Calum was, meaning he had probably already escaped.
The snake raised his other hand, slapping her hard across the face as Lillin smiled at the hit. Wincing at the pain but delighting in the frustration she saw in him.
“I should expect no less from a conniving whore of a worthless warm blood." The snake hissed, looking down upon the rival demon.
“You ballless worms… Why do you even live?" She taunted the snakelike demon. His clan sought nothing from breeding, their colder selves taking little in the acts and hungers that drove the hearts of so many of the other clans.
While they insulted one another Lillin hoped Calum was already out, knowing his skills in stealth and escape very well.
After she reformed in the infernal plane she would need to tell her master, perhaps she could seek the man out again. The thought comforted her, knowing she would see her master again soon. Being slayed was always painful, and it was clear Arvinine was not going to let her off easy. But soon master would be there, her wounds healed and ready to fight and love again.
“Your master, 'loves' you, does he not?" The cold eyed snake hissed.
“Yes… we are everything together, body and soul." Lillin defiantly called back.
“And it will be his downfall..." Arvinine cackled, setting his staff down as it magicly balanced on its sharp bottom. From his robe he pulled a sheathed dagger.
The dagger had a hilt of demon bone, sharp shapes across a heavy stone sheath. Arvinine pulled the weapon free, Lillin's eyes falling to it.
It was deep red, shining with powerful magic as tendrils of fiery matter swirled about the edges.
"You will regret this trespass, a perfect opportunity to test my blade." He grinned as Lillin recoiled in horror.
Her breath quickened, instantly recognizing the power of the weapon.
“No! NO! You wouldn't dare!" Lillin shouted, knowing that blade was capable of destroying demons. Not to slay them like any other blade would, but to obliterate their immortal soul to never live again. The snake must have searched long and hard, or spent much time forging it. Such weapons were very rare. And now she found herself staring one down, bound and helpless before an enemy.
Arvinine stayed quiet, just watching Lillin's panic intensify as he let the blade sing, its energy crackling against the air.
Her mind scrambled in panic, their clans rivaled much, but it was something altogether different to obliterate another clans demon. Such an act was reserved for all out war, Arvinine about to set off a blood fueled conflict that would likely decimate one or both clans.
“I will deliver your dead heart to Azoth as your pathetic father whimpers in pain, knowing the cruelty that I have done." The cold hearted snake gloated, knowing Lillin held within herself a piece of her master's heart, used to bring her into being.
He then pointed the blade to Lillin as she struggled desperately.
Her binds tightened again, burning painfully as she cried out in fear, a feral cry echoing out into the tower.
Her mind was racing, unable to believe what was about to happen. Her panic soon turned to terror, unable to break the binds as the phantasms tightened her limbs, her strength fading as she felt her chest open to the deadly blade.
“Please! NO! ANYTHING! ANYTHING!" She cried out, only making the demonic snake smile wider as he saw her fear. He was getting exactly what he wanted, wanting to impress his own master with a grim gift.
Lillin's eyes squeezed tight, terror spreading through her as she felt herself utterly helpless. She would not see her master again, she would never feel his mighty heart next to hers. Obliterated on the mortal plane, never to return.
Never. The meaning of the word sunk into Lillin for the first time. She would never see Calum again, talk or snuggle next to him. She would never feel or know anything, it was all over. She had never had to face such a permanence before, the reality of it all utterly terrifying to the immortal. All the things she loved and knew were about to be destroyed, her existence cut short.
“Master..." Lillin choked out, tears falling down her cheek, unable to hold back her sorrow as the end drew closer, every moment ticking down until the end she never thought would come. She wished for help, but knew her master was a whole plane away, unable to come to her aid.
“He cannot help you here, no one can! Your clan is finished..." The snake gloated.
“Lillin!" Came a shout from behind. Arvinine turned around as he saw Calum in the doorway, his shining sword in hand as he faced off against the demon.
“You fool!" Arvinine snapped in frustration, his moment ruined by the clumsy man. Lillin looked up to see him, her fear redirecting to him.
“Calum… Run! Just run!" She cried out, knowing Calum had no chance against the demon alone.
“After him! No interruptions!" Arvinine snarled to his phantoms.
The magic servants dropped the binding chains as Arvinine drew up his own energy to hold Lillin up, magical hooks appearing in the ceiling.
The pair of phantoms floated to the door, magical claws out as Calum found himself woefully unprepared to face the demon mage and his servants.
Calum turned with a pained expression on his face, rushing down the hall as he made an escape.
“I love you!" Lillin cried out as Calum fled, tears filling her eyes once again as she felt helpless.
Lillin looked as long as she could, knowing Calum was quick, he was smart. He could outwit the magical constructs. She let the blind hope hold her together for another few moments before Arvinine loomed above her once again.
"Pathetic..." He grimaced, seeing the odd feelings the hellhound had for the weak mortal.
Lillin let her thoughts drift to the past month with Calum. She had never expected to fall for him, dreading having to return home and leave the mortal behind. And now at the end of their journey Calum was the last loved one she would ever see. She would miss him, eyes squeezing shut as she tried to hold him in her thoughts a few moments longer.
“Now we can finish this…" The snake refocused on the bound hellhound, his prize finally secure as the man fled from the tower.
Lillin struggled as she saw the blade near her chest. She tried to pull away, feeling a reptilian hand steady her as the blade fell against her.
Pushing slowly Arvinine let the edge cut into her immortal flesh. Lillin cried out in pain, feeling the blade cut her like nothing ever had before.
“We will choke the life from your clan once and for all! Our plan will proceed, there is nothing to stop us." He gloated, taking his time with her as he drew out the moment in utter confidence at his victory.
In her chest Lillin's heart beat faster, so very close to the blade. One firm stab would end her existence, piercing her heart as her life and power absorbed into the blade. But Arvinine was slow, toying with his enemy as the blade ran across her chest.
“I will tell your master how you ended like a whimpering pup." The demon hissed to her, letting him know how much he hated her clan.
“Please… please..." She begged, feeling utterly helpless as her rationale failed, just hoping the cruel snake would relent, that she could have another chance at existence. That she could see her master again, to know that Calum was safe.
“HSSS-RGHHH!!!!" Arvinine suddenly cried out, rearing back as his scaled hand released the dagger.
Lillin looked up, her eyes hazy as she saw a shining blade thrust through the demons chest, his mouth agape in shock and pain.
“GRRRHHH!!!" Calum cried out behind the robed demon as he impaled the snake. Both hands on the hilt he kept pushing, ripping through the demons body as his muscles shook with a burning anger.
Calum had never left, letting the illusion from his magic blade draw the phantoms and the mages guard off while he made his stealthy approach.
As the demon recoiled from the sudden pain the magic hooks holding Lillin shattered, dropping her to the ground as her binds loosened.
Arvinine thrashed about, Calum hanging tight onto the sword as the snakes long body whipped around the room.
Calum twisted the blade, seeing the powerful demon struggling as he sustained a blow that would have killed any mortal. But still he stood, fighting like a stuck animal.
As Calum twisted the blade Arvinine screamed out in pain again, anger filling the snake as he reached out for his staff, ready to show the mortal the true meaning of suffering.
But Calum was quick, unsheathing a magic dagger and plunging into the demons shoulder. His aim was true, slipping down between the bones before he twisted.
The snakes arm shuddered, fingers contorting in pain as Calum held onto both blades, pulling and twisting as the demon seethed with pain and anger.
Despite his wounds the greater demon still fought, thrashing before Calum's grip finally failed. The rogue was tossed hard against the ground, catching himself as his own blood pumped hard.
Free of the vengeful man Arvinine grasped the blade through his chest, wincing in anger at the insult. With great effort he pulled the blade out of himself, his magic infused body already beginning to re seal the wound as he bled all over his torn robes and struggled to steady himself.
Looking to the wounded demon Calum grit his teeth, not giving up the fight as he rolled onto his side to stand up.
“Calum..." Lillin weakly shouted, her strength fading as she kicked the cursed blade to him.
Standing back up Calum saw the snake meet his eyes as he carefully hid the deadly blade behind his cloak.
Incensed at the mortals defiance Arvinine reached out with his uninjured arm, jaws open wide and fangs sharp as he slithered forward, ready to tear the mortal apart.
Calum braced himself, the magic dagger held back as he rushed against the snake.
Calum's quick reflexes let him slice upwards with the dagger, slipping past the snakes guard as he felt it peirce between the demons ribs.
The demon slammed into him, the strength of the hit knocking the wind out of Calum before the demons power came to a halt.
The snake's eyes grew wide, feeling the blade deep in his chest as he gave a gasp of shock. His body could feel it was no mortal blade, his own weapon piercing his heart and signaling the unceremonious end of his existence.
Calum snarled back, locking eyes with the creature as he spit in the powerful demon's face.
“Heartless monster..." Calum snarled, twisting the blade as he saw life drain from the demon. His fingers shook, gripping harder as he tore into the fiends very being.
Against him The snake cried out, breath escaping quickly as his body turned to dust. In a moment only his skeleton stood, falling apart within the robe as they scattered into a pile on the floor, the magic dagger slipping from the falling ribs.
The dagger vibrated in Calum's hand, a terrible heat resonating from the blade as he stared down to it. The dagger had absorbed the greater demons essence, raw power ready to be harnessed as steam rose from the sharp blade. In a moment he dropped it, feeling the intense heat through his glove as he stepped back from the grim scene.
Calum's muscles quivered, trying to steady himself as he turned, seeing Lillin laying weakly against the floor.
“Lillin..." He whispered, rushing over to the injured demoness.
“I couldn't come any faster… I had to lead them away..." He tried to explain before losing his composure.
Tears ran down his face, the rush of the fight and pain of watching Lillin suffer far too much for the mortal to handle. His hands held her tight, looking into her red eyes as she gasped in relief. She was alive.
“I thought... I thought it was all over..." Lillin whispered, letting a weaker side of herself show to him. Her paw reached out for him, slow and weak in her motion. He was quick to take her paw, still feeling her warmth against his skin.
“You're ok, I'm here." He whispered to her, helping Lillin slide up into his lap as her weight lay across him. Letting her body relax she felt safe with her mortal, her saviour.
“You… you saved me. You should have ran, but you didn't..." Lillin smiled up to him, breathing out in relief. His wits and stealth had saved her, his courage never leaving her behind.
“I heard what he said… I could never live with myself if I ran..." Calum grimaced, now knowing his risk had paid off, Lillin safe in his arms. He wouldn't let anything happen to her, the greatest soul he had ever known.
“I need to rest… Just sit with me a few more moments..." Lillin spoke up, already feeling her body's power returning after the binds had faded.
Calum sat quietly with her, listening to Lillin's steady breath as his body calmed after the fight. He pet Lillin's smooth fur, letting the motion soothe them both in the moment of quiet.
“So, he… he isn't coming back, right?" Calum asked, looking over to the pile of robes and bones, his serpent like skull seeming to still hold the look of shock the greater demon showed in his last moments.
“Yes… he's gone, Azoth will feel this blow and will remember the price Arvinine paid." She said, looking to the glowing blade as it shone bright, the raw magic of Arvinine's essence siphoned into it.
“You obliterated him, now it is all yours." She said, calling back to the unspoken law of demonic combat. Calum had bested the demon and earned the first claim to anything the demon once touched.
A cool wind blew over the tower, howling softly as the world outside carried on. No doubt the guards below heard some of the commotion, but they were likely used to odd noises coming from above, told to keep to their own business under the demons nefarious acts.
“How do you do it?" Lillin spoke up, Calum looking down as he held her close.
“Face death… knowing that one day it will all end, that it could so easily end... everything gone." She asked, never feeling so frail, so temporary. The mere thought still terrified her, knowing that without Calum's intervention she would no longer exist. Even thinking about it made her shiver.
Calum felt her fear, gripping firmly around her paw as he listened to her words. Calum himself knew the terror of coming so close to death, he knew the thoughts that now made her quiver against him.
“It drives many mad… a terror that we all face."
“We cannot always choose how we die, but we can choose whom we live that life with..." He spoke, holding Lillin's paw closer as he smiled down to her.
“Even if I died today… I know the last month of my life has been amazing… unexpected."
“No matter what, no one could take those days from me." Calum smiled, remembering the past weeks.
“I'm not sure if I can help, there is nothing I can tell you to stop the fear… We all have to come to terms with our ends, no matter how long we must wait."
“It does help." Lillin smiled, knowing truely how much she meant to the mortal man. He had risked his life, wanting nothing more than for her to be safe, happy.
“Before we met… I didn't know mortals could be so… kind, so strong." Lillin smiled, truly underestimating the short lived creatures that teamed throughout this realm.
Calum leaned in, kissing her gently across the muzzle as she sighed in relief, her long tongue licking him back.
They sat for a bit longer, Lillin finally feeling her strength returning.
Stretching out a paw Lillin reached for the ground. Calum held her gently, helping her to her feet as the demoness felt her muscles holding firm once more.
Calum stood beside her, seeing the glowing crystal at the center of the room they had come all this way for.
I'm too weak to take it… can you hold it? Lillin asked.
Calum pulled the crystal from its hold, stuffing it into his pack. Their mission was finally complete, but Calum knew this was far from over, he was certain of that now.
Kneeling down he carefully picked up the cursed dagger, it had finally cooled enough to touch even as it still hummed with power. Holding its sheath he slipped it back in, feeling its power muffled as he slipped the accursed device into his pack too.
Looking over Calum found the arch mage's staff still standing in the middle of the room, making the impossible balance as he approached it.
Reaching out his hand it jumped into Calum's palm. The magical device sensed its previous owners death, binding itself to a new mortal. Calum felt the staffs power in his hands, how it seemed to call to him. The staff had many owners, once belonging to the human archmage before his possession.
The staff was a teleportation conduit, able to take the wielder to any spot in the plane it had been bound to. Arvinine had used it to slip back into the tower and spring his trap.
“I think we have our ticket out of here." Calum announced, happy to not have to slip past the guards once again.
“Let's be rid of this place." Lillin was quick to jump back into Calum's head, feeling safe as she hid her physical form away.
Calum focused, mentally browsing the many places the staff was bound to find a safe location. Suddenly one came to the forefront of his mind, the rogue in disbelief for a moment.
“Good lord..." Calum whispered to himself, quickly taking the trip as the world disappeared around him.
He reappeared in a large cavern. It was completely dark, a lone pedestal before him as he waved the staff across it, activating its magic.
The pedestal lit up, followed by dozens of others as the massive cave came into view.
The glistening glimmer of gold filled his sight, a dragon's hoard of mortal treasures laid hidden below the earth.
Calum gasped aloud, scanning over the piles of coins, rows of golden bars, precious gems and magic artifacts. He had never seen so much gold and gems, his mind unable to fathom their worth. The greater demon had amassed it, ready to buy a kingdoms loyalty or raise an army to burn the world. Whatever their plan it was now foiled, the fortune falling into Calum's hands.
“Is this… is this a lot?" Lillin asked in disbelief, appearing before him as she looked out upon the heaps of mortal treasure.
“Few kings have such wealth..." Calum sank to his knees, breathing hard as he failed to contain his overwhelmed mind. He had dreamed of striking it big, but he never imagined something like this. He could do anything, be anything, never having to put his life on the line again.
“It's yours… your kill, your claim." Lillin spoke, seeing how much this meant to Calum, having learned of the freedom wealth brought a mortal.
As Lillin had promised she stayed a few days longer, Calum getting everything in order as he took stock of the enormity he had just inherited from their mission.
They went back to the room they had rented the day before. It wasn't hard to notice commotion going about town as Calum overheard the gossip at the pub. It wasn't surprising since they had tossed the archmages remains out of the tower, alerting the public to the decades of deception the demon had pulled off after gathering everything of value for themselves.
There would be a great upset in the land at the discovery, but neither Calum nor Lillin cared. They left that tower behind, not wanting to be near the cursed place any longer.
In private Calum and Lillin talked, talked far more than they had before.
She used the crystal they recovered to send word back to her master on what had happened.
Soon enough she got a reply, and she was not to come back alone.

Author's Notes:
Hope things didn't get too dark in this one. But I wanted to stress the peril Lillin was in, how destruction for an immortal is even more terrifying when they never expect or prepare for it.
I laid everything out in chapter 2, I hope it helped foreshadow things well enough. I do like finding where characters can come together, and finally we get some more tender moments between them after the drama.
Now next a moment that has been building since the beginning. Calum is going to meet her master, a rare treat for a mortal to be invited to the infernal plane. So what is their future? Soon enough it will be revealed. Probably won't have it ready by next week but making good progress.
