In the Den
One of my first stories, In the Doghouse, left me with a lot of questions, especially at the end when the protagonist was too far gone to understand what was happening. This is the story of the created dogman from that tale, as he was bought. Hopefully I have something here that can be made a series over time.
The Auction
My hands were shaking, for the first time in a decade, as I drove out to the gallery. It was hidden away in an abandoned warehouse by the harbor, and the smells of ocean breeze and factory smoke set my eyes watering. That, and my nerves: I had never attended an auction like this before, and I was sure that some police officials were living very comfortably off the bribes they got to turn a blind eye to it. Hell, the country tore itself in two because the idea of selling people became so unsavory. Sadly, they didn’t know how to keep their servants happy and productive then: they hated being property, and it was only right to set them free. Thankfully, slave conditioning has been refined nearly to an exact science at this point: slavers mainly keep to themselves, and only take people who wouldn’t be missed. People who would be happier and more helpful to society if they weren’t making decisions for themselves.
It was some trouble even to get this far: searching the deep web for links to group chats, going through a few middlemen in encrypted messages to make it clear what I wanted and why, and even handing them the names and addresses of a few potential “recruits” for their program. But in the end, I received GPS coordinates and a time, which brought me to this auction. I parked outside the building, showed the tattooed bruiser at the door my invitation, and was ushered into my seat and given a placard to raise for the bidding.
As I surveyed the crowd around me, what struck me was how ordinary these people looked. Granted, they all appeared to have very comfortable lives, but I was expecting a lot more old money among them. There were some baby boomer WASPs, of course, the men grey haired with matching suits and the women in reserved floral prints idly toying with their jewelry. But there was also a gaggle of Japanese businessmen sitting stone-faced near the front, Qatari and Texan oil tycoons loudly exchanging warm pleasantries, green-haired millennials with a sadistic glint in their eyes, and more than a few young entrepreneurs passing the time with games on their smartphones. A lot of competition for a rare commodity; hopefully, we’re looking for something different in our servants.
Finally, a rotund gentleman in a black robe came to the podium up on the stage, and began to speak into the microphone.
“Good afternoon to you all. I’m happy to see such great turnout for our auction today. Each one of you has proven your support for the work we do, to make our streets a little cleaner and more civil. Before we begin, I would like to remind you that though your winnings for today will be yours take with you, you will do so with the understanding that they are to be treated with great care for their well-being. If we ever find that any of our recruits have been made to suffer, or to cause another person to suffer, you will be dealt with. Severely. I hope, for your sake, that we never have to act upon that warning.”
That’s the trouble with a black market: they must, by necessity, enforce their own rules, and tend to be very harsh in doing so. A couple of the faces around me went pale, but no one moved. The man at the podium continued.
“With that out of the way, we will commence the bidding. The first recruit up for bid is a maidservant and chef, Rebecca, trained by Mr. Brioche.”
Another fellow, thin with a handlebar mustache, came up to the podium, followed behind by a mousy Korean woman with a vacant smile and a glazed look in her eye. This Mr. Brioche described the particulars of her training (apparently, she was a skilled rotisseur and flexible enough to dust in hard to reach places), had her dance a little to show her other assets, and then opened the bidding at $2,500. Placards flew up quickly, as the bids rose: $4,000, $6,000, $7,000. Then, after a short bidding war between a muscular black man in a suit and the Japanese businessmen, the black man won with a bid of $7,350. As the gavel slammed down onto the oak sound block, he shot his fist in the air and laughed in triumph. The rest of the audience politely applauded, some mumbling in discontent, and then the victor hustled his way to the rooms behind the stage to collect his winnings while the next trainer and servant came up to the podium.
The auction proceeded from there with a variety of different servants: butlers who spoke several languages, au pairs who could calm the most difficult child, human calculators to keep the finances of the household in order. And, of course, sex slaves to fit every taste, from thick tan blonds with massive equipment to busty, fiery redheads to overweight, hairy men in leather smoking cigars. They all displayed different personalities outwardly, but they all had the same vacant stare, showing just how effectively the training had changed them utterly to fit the clients’ needs. But I was saving my money for something unique, for the one trainer who specialized in exactly the type of servant I would require.
At last, the black-robed official called on her.
“Now for a boutique servant, being sold by Ms. Lily Kingsmill. Ms. Kingsmill, would you please tell us about your latest acquisition?”
I perked up immediately, as a strawberry blonde woman with radiant blue eyes came on to the stage. She held a thick, black leather leash in her hand, attached to a smooth, black leather collar. Crawling behind her, wearing that collar, was a young white male with a slightly tan complexion and an athletic body. He had shaggy brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a longer tongue than I would have thought possible, panting happily as he looked over at the crowd. He was also completely nude, besides the collar, and from the wide-open smile on his face he seemed very content to be so. Lily stopped at the podium, gave a hand gesture to the dogman to stop beside her, and began her sales pitch.
“Fortinbras here is a nineteen-year-old male in excellent physical condition. He has been conditioned to believe, wholeheartedly, that he is a dog with unquestioning loyalty to his owner. His command of the English language has been reduced to… well, perhaps it would be easier just to show you. Shall I give a demonstration?”
The audience began to cheer, and I whooped and hollered along with them. Ms. Kingsmill smirked a little, while the dogman, startled by the noise, looked up at her adoringly and nuzzled her leg. She strode to the center of the stage, Fortinbras following behind, and took him off his leash. He ran around the stage, barking happily, before Ms. Kingsmill got his attention back with some treats she held in her hand. She then had him perform some ordinary dog tricks: sit, roll over, fetch, the sort that any normal dog owner would teach their pet. After each trick, she would praise and pet him, then give a snide remark at his expense to the audience. What struck me about him was that Fortinbras seemed to require genuine effort to understand some of the more complicated tricks, and even, once or twice, looked like he was wondering what the audience was doing there. If he was playing dumb, he was doing a remarkable job at it.
Finally, after telling Fortinbras to stay and walking back to the podium, Ms. Kingsmill smiled and scanned the audience’s faces to see their reactions.
“He is a very good boy, both in the house and in the bedroom, housebroken as well of course. And though I do see a couple skeptical faces among you,” – here she glowered down at someone in the second row – “he does have one more trick to show you. Although this is the first time he’s done this trick, I’m sure you will agree that I’ve saved the best for last. Everyone, meet Maximus.”
At this point, another dog, this one of the naturally four-legged variety, came onto the stage, held on his leash by a burly stagehand. People around me began whispering to each other, some in curiosity, some in fear. The dog, perhaps a Newfoundland-Great Dane mix, was completely black, and appeared to be taller than Fortinbras, who was now quivering with anticipation. He was also bigger in another key place, as the sheath dangling below his legs showed. Fortinbras looked behind him at the great beast, and started panting heavily and whining, attempting to pull away from Ms. Kingsmill to greet his new friend. But a simple word and a stern look were all that was needed to stop him where he was.
“Fortinbras here has also been trained to get along well with other dogs, and to make them feel as good as he feels. In addition to an owner, he can be trained to identify another dog, in this case Maximus, as his Alpha, and submit to them completely if his owner allows it. And I do mean full submission. Fort…”
Fortinbras looked up at her lovingly, still eager to play.
“Present for Alpha.”
With that, a sudden change came over his face, and he looked forward at the audience and lowered his torso to the ground, whining and wagging his tailless rear end at his Alpha. I had seen this sort of thing in videos before, but usually with Eastern European or Brazilian women, obviously faking their enjoyment for either the promise of a paycheck or the threat of a bullet. But this was different: I could see the enthusiasm on his features and in his body language. And so could Maximus.
The gigantic hound strode toward his lithe, hairless companion, and began sniffing at his rump, then licking it eagerly like there was the best tasting marrow deep inside, if he could only reach. His tail began wagging furiously as Fortinbras moaned in pleasure and goaded him on. Right on cue, Maximus pulled himself onto Fortinbras with his forelegs, and started humping him clumsily. The dogman looked uncomfortable, but he stayed like a good dog, even changing position slightly to speed things along. His louder whines and the slick, squishy sounds coming from behind him made it clear that he had succeeded.
As Maximus pumped into his bitch feverishly, his hind legs at times lifting off the ground, Fortinbras started to grind back into him, using his arms to push himself up and back into what had to be a cock of considerable size. As he rose, I noticed that his own penis was now erect and shaking up and down with each thrust. The two of them were panting and pushing against each other in sync, tongues hanging out and eyes shining bright. Finally, Maximus lunged into his lover one last time, Fortinbras shot his load onto the floor beneath them, and Fortinbras’s arms gave out in exhaustion, leaving his chest free to fall into the mess they had made together.
They stayed in that position for a few minutes, leading a few of the audience members to ask their neighbors why the dog was staying on top of him so long. The lucky ones got a quick lesson in canine anatomy, and the gland at the base of the penis that swells to lock mates together for a while. The unlucky ones were shushed and asked not to ruin the moment. But the moment passed, the pair finally separated, and Fortinbras sweetly licked his partner clean before being attached to his leash again and brought back to the podium.
“Now that you know what Fortinbras can do for you, we will begin the bidding at $1,500.”
There weren’t many bids for this servant (I suppose because his service was somewhat limited in usefulness to most people), but the few there were sounded desperate to claim their prize. I was, of course, equally desperate, but I would let the others fight it out between themselves before jumping in to claim him. Like any auction for a work of art, there was some value in waiting for the right moment to bid, shocking one’s opponents, and walking away with a relative bargain. The bids rose quickly to $4,000, then began to trickle in as the last two bidders struggled to justify paying a higher price for what must to them be nothing more than a toy. This was my opportunity, at last.
“The bid stands at $7,000. Going once, going tw…”
“$10,000!”
The last bidder screamed in protest, but there was nothing she could do. Ms. Kingsmill looked to me in the back of the room and gave me a knowing look.
“Going once, going twice, sold to bidder number 81. Congratulations.”
As I walked back to the receiving area, I noticed that there wasn’t any applause for my purchase: all I saw were puzzled stares, apart from seething rage in the eyes of the young woman I had just outbid. The room to the side of the stage was surprisingly well-furnished, with a black Corinthian leather couch at the center of the room, bookended by mahogany end tables with Baroque ornamentation. But nothing could match the classical beauty of Ms. Kingsmill seated on its right side, petting and comforting Fortinbras as he stared affectionately into her eyes. Unlike on stage, however, she seemed to regard him with a similar, almost motherly affection. She saw me, out of the corner of her eye, and rose to greet me, her arm extended for a handshake.
“Congratulations, Jonathan. I’m pleased that you will be the one to care for my dear Fortinbras from now on. My work has benefited immensely from your experience with dogs, both natural and…”
“Man-made?”
She smirked at the interruption.
“Woman-made, but the expression fits closely enough. Now, before you take him home, I have a couple of instructions for you, as well as one request.”
I looked down at my new dogboy, who was currently chewing on a rope bone woven with minty dental floss. I guess our conversation was boring to him.
“Anything for you, Lily. Thanks for the phone call about this, by the way. I’d never have known he was available without your generous assistance.”
She began digging through a small purse on the end table beside her, as she continued.
“Think nothing of it. I know you’ll take good care of him. Now, the conditioning is completely irrevocable at this point, but you have several options regarding his personality from now on. Of course, he will always be as carefree as he now is, but as a side-effect of my methods, he has been made to see himself as below others of his kind, to submit to them and you fully. However, I am providing you with supplements, to be mixed in with his food, should you wish this to change. Ah, here they are!”
Lily then showed me three small glass drop bottles, colored green, yellow, and red.
“The green vial will keep him in his current, submissive state, or convert him back to it if he has been made otherwise. Fun for a plaything, but less doglike than the others. The yellow vial will raise him, in his eyes, to the equal of other dogs, and will let him compete with them for status, but he will still be fully obedient and subservient to you. The red vial will make him confident and domineering, believing himself to be the Alpha of any pack he joins. This also means that he will no longer obey you without some reward at stake. All of them are dispersed in the same way: three drops a day, for three days, mixed into his dinner. I trust you know what you should feed him?”
The question was a formality, as she knew, but the answer was still important enough for her to hear, evidently.
“Of course. Soft, well-cooked meats and grains, with some veggies thrown. He doesn’t have the same nutritional needs as an actual dog.”
Lily gave me a quick, quiet round of applause, which may or may not have been sarcastic. It was hard to tell, with her.
“Well done! You have no idea how often I’m called back to a client a week later because they fed their dogman nothing but Alpo and wonder why he’s gotten sickly. His conditioning will also need constant reinforcement: I’ve written a command phrase on a sheet of paper that you’ll get along with the vials. For the most part, he shouldn’t require any effort for you, since he knows his mantras by heart anyway, but if you should desire him to learn anything more specific, simply say that phrase and whisper what you would like him to know in his ear, and it will be included in his nightly mantras.”
This all seemed very elaborate to me. But then again, so was the conditioning, so I could hardly be surprised. Fortinbras, meanwhile, was having trouble holding his bone in place while he chewed at it and kept shoving it across the floor with his mouth.
“Err… does that have some limitations to it? I mean, I can’t expect him to learn quantum physics, can I?”
Lily giggled at the thought of it.
“Goodness, no, he isn’t Mr. Peabody. Of course, there are limits. Any suggestion that is consistent with his doglike mental state should take effect. Anything too complicated will just confuse him and give him a headache.”
“Of course. Anything else?”
Lily looked down at Fortinbras and sighed.
“One last thing; this pup is quite special to me, almost as much as Joseph was.”
She had only mentioned Joseph to me once before, years ago. She was in tears over his constant womanizing and drinking. I’d never seen her so emotional before, nor have I since. She kept asking about my kennel, and how I kept my dogs so happy and dutiful. Even at this passing mention of him, there were tears beginning to pool in her eyes, and a nearly imperceptible crack in her voice.
“Your ex? What happened to…?”
“It doesn’t matter now. The point is, I care immensely about him, and if possible, I should like to visit him from time to time, just to see how he’s faring in his new life.”
“Shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you call ahead.”
“Of course, Jonathan. Now, we’ll just need Fortinbras here to accept it. Fort! Höre und gehorche.”
The bone dropped from Fortinbras’s mouth, as his eyes closed into half-moons. He looked deeply into Lily’s eyes, and his panting had been replaced by slow, steady breaths. She pointed at me, and gave him his instructions.
“This man is your new owner. You will trust and obey him just as you have me. When you wake up, your memory of me will fade away, and he will have been your owner for your whole life. Now, steigen auf und scheine.”
Fortinbras slowly came into full consciousness, almost as if waking from a dream and puzzling out what was real and what wasn’t. Then his eyes focused on me, and he barked and wagged his tailless butt, crawling towards me and nuzzling my lap. I stroked his head and back, then scratched him behind the ears as he leaned into it and whined in contentment. At last, he was mine.
“Oh, you two will get along famously! Here is his leash. Take care of him for me, will you? Tata.”
Lily handed me the leash and walked away, resuming her cold, professional demeanor as she exited the room. I hooked it into his collar, scratching his head as I did so, and began striding toward my car, my new ward in tow. The auctioneer was selling a gorgeous ponygirl as I walked past the main room, and the bidding on it was fiercely competitive; there were clearly a lot of people willing to pay anything to ride her. Fortinbras looked over at her curiously, but never broke his gait as we moved past to the outer door. Walking to the car, the only sounds I heard were the click of my footsteps, the soft patter of Fortinbras’s, and the occasional seagull cawing in the distance. I let Fortinbras into the backseat of my Land Rover, which he climbed into with ease, then got into the car myself and drove us home.
Forever Home
Fortinbras slept in the backseat for most of the journey, nearly an hour on the interstate before the exit to home. It would still be a good fifteen minutes until we reached the estate, full of dirt roads through old growth forest. The vibrations woke Fortinbras, who yawned widely, tried to look out the window, and whined in worry.
“Don’t worry, buddy. We’re almost there. Want a sniff, boy?”
Being talked to calmed him down, and he looked at me panting with a small wag of his hindquarters. I tapped the button to lower the window about an inch; Fortinbras sniffed at the cracked window with interest, his hair blowing in the wind as he did. The smell was pleasant, earthy and warm from some rainfall in the morning. He laid his head on his hands and relaxed as we continued down the path.
Exiting the woods into a clearing, I spotted the estate house in the distance. I had it built nine years prior to have all the amenities my work would need, as well as the open and hospitable feeling I desired in a home. It was built out of red alder and Brazilian granite, with large glass windows on all sides opening up to gorgeous views of the surrounding woods and mountains. It was a single story, but that story was expansive enough to include living and dining areas, four bedrooms with bathrooms for each, an automated greenhouse, and a finished cellar which I used as a play space for my dog, Ananda. And for Fortinbras too, now that he would be with us. But he would need time to adjust to everything before I introduced them, so for the time being I had shut her into the east wing of the house. Fortinbras panted with excitement as we slowed down on the approach, happy to get out of the car at last.
I pulled the SUV into the attached garage, shut the door, and walked around to the side to let Fortinbras out. As I got to the door, he “pawed” at the window trying to get my attention in a goofy and endearing way. I chuckled, opened the door, took his leash, and helped him out of the car, walking him to the door into the house. When we were inside, and the door was shut behind us, I let him off the leash.
“This is where we live, Fort. I hope you love it as much as I do. Feel free to explore it. I have to let my other dog out, but I’ll be back in a jiffy.”
Fortinbras looked at me in concern, then started to sniff around the floors, heading in the direction of the kitchen, of course. Letting him get settled in, I headed for the east wing to greet Ananda. She had to be worried, not to mention hungry, and would want to go out as well. She would not be happy having spent the day inside, but I knew she would forgive me for that, in the end.
At the door, I heard a high-pitched whine and smiled to myself. I approached the door as closely as I could, so she couldn’t get past me to the other side of the house, then opened it a crack and slid inside. As I though, Ananda was directly on the other side of the door, sniffing underneath with her curious black nose. As I shut the door, she jumped onto me, pawing at my chest and wagging her tail furiously. I knelt down to hug her and pet her, as she greeted me with gentle kisses.
“Hey, good girl. Oh, yes, I missed you too. Yes, I was gone forever and now I’m here. Yes, sweetie, I missed you.”
As much as Ananda wanted to keep adoring me, I had to move things along in case Fortinbras tried to destroy the house or something. I opened the sliding glass door in the back of the room, letting her outside to the backyard. She ran out to do her business, then ran some more, zooming from place to place. She had a lot of pent up energy to burn, the poor thing. While she was dashing around the yard, I heard a sharp bark from inside the house, which had me and Ananda turning toward the noise. Fortinbras was standing there, pawing at the window. As much as it pained me not to let the two meet then and there, I was determined to let Fortinbras adjust to his surroundings, so they had the best chances of getting along. When Ananda was tired, I invited her inside and filled her food and water bowls. Then, while she was distracted, I went back to the door to Fortinbras’s side of the house. His pink nose was under the door now, and he must have smelled another dog on the other side. Thankfully, the same trick worked for him as I shimmied into the room and slammed the door shut.
“Sorry, boy. Don’t want the two of you meeting just yet. She’s a little hyper, and she might scare you. Come on, let’s get you some dinner.”
I strode to the kitchen, Fortinbras walking behind me and almost tripping me underfoot. I opened the refrigerator and pulled out some of the mix I had prepared for him. I had cared for enough human pets to know what they liked, but they had always belonged to others; when one of their owners wanted a vacation, there weren’t many people they were willing to trust to care for them. Having one of my own, finally, felt like an accomplishment.
I scooped some of the chow into a bowl on the counter, then mixed in three drops from the yellow vial. Looking down from the counter, I saw Fortinbras gazing up at me, pleading with his eyes; he was silent, almost still in his attempt to be polite. The scene reminded me of a fun game for us to play at dinner, just to make him feel like he earned it.
“OK, boy, let’s put you through your paces. Sit.”
He sat on his haunches. Good. Another basic one.
“Speak.”
He gave me a couple of backs, shrill and resounding against the marble counters. It wasn’t exactly like a dog’s, perhaps because there wasn’t as much tooth in it, but it was pretty close.
“OK, let’s try a tough one this time. Paw.”
I offered him my right hand, wondering if he’d pick up the cue on his own. It took another couple of repetitions of the word and gesture, but he lifted his curled right fist and placed it in my outstretched hand.
“Other paw.”
This time I offered my left hand. He raised his right fist again, putting it in my hand. A few more tries had the same result, though on the third he was a little agitated. I’d have to teach him that later.
“That’s OK, Fort. Now, last one; stay.”
He sat at attention, looking at my hand as I grabbed the food bowl, walked a few feet away from him, and put it down out of his reach. He trembled a little in yearning, but sure enough he didn’t move.
“OK. Go get it. Good boy.”
He crawled over and plunged his face into the bowl, taking big, messy mouthfuls as he devoured all of it. I scratched his ears and head as he ate, then got up to fill his water bowl and place it next to him. Within thirty seconds, the bowl was empty, and he lapped at the water with his tongue, making splashing sounds as he drank. I’d taken care of role-players before, as well, and this is where they usually differed from the genuine article; someone with a human mindset would often close their lips into a tight O shape and such the water through it like a straw, because it was easier and faster to get water that way. This boy was clearly programmed by an expert. Lily’s specialty.
When Fortinbras had finished, I knew he would want to go out and relieve himself, having held it in all day. So, I didn’t even ask him about it; the moment I opened a door outside from the kitchen, he ran out of the room, his ass raised over the rest of his body as he ran. Making his was to a nearby birch tree, he lifted his leg and pissed on it, a trickle of urine reflecting light from the sunset off of it. Then, he sniffed around the back yard for a moment before squatting and dropping a deuce on the yard. It was a bit drier and cleaner than most people’s, his diet from both Lily and me designed to minimize the need to clean him afterwards. He ran back to the door and trotted inside, obviously pleased with himself.
“Good boy. You’re doing so good, Fort. Now, let’s go to the bedroom; we’ve both had a long day.”
I led him down the hall into my bedroom, furnished a king-sized mahogany set for me and a black suede memory foam dog bed by the fireplace for Fortinbras. I went over to the dog bed and knelt down, patting it.
“This is your bed, Fort. I might let you up on mine sometimes, if you’re good, but I want you to use this one for now. Go on, try it out.”
Fortinbras sauntered over to the dog bed, sniffed it a few times, climbed on top, circled around to make himself a place, and lay down, curled up in a ball.
“Good boy. I’m going to watch TV for a little before going to bed. Good night. Sleep well.”
I lay back onto my bed and flipped on the TV, looking for something relaxing and settling on a predictable crime drama. Fortinbras watched me through squinted eyes from his spot, then yawned and began to blink, his eyelids growing heavier with and his eyes opening less with each blink. Then, his head drooped down, his body relaxed, and he drifted off to sleep.
I watched an episode of the show (something about a robbery to cover up insurance fraud that wasn’t worth remembering) and was a little into the next when I heard a soft bark below me. I looked down at Fortinbras’s bed and saw that his eyes were slightly open, his hands twitching at the wrists as he barked. The boy even dreamt like a dog, and I hoped that his dream was a fun one. I was getting a little tired myself, so I switched off the TV, climbed under the covers, and went to sleep.
Play Time
Over the next few days, I gave Fortinbras a chance to get used to his new home, and also to adjust his personality to my needs. My time was divided between my two dogs, reassuring Ananda that I still loved her while getting things ready for the two of them to meet. I named her for a Sanskrit word which roughly translates to “that joy in existence without which the universe would fall apart and collapse”, an attempt to counteract her miserable origins. I had adopted her a few months prior after she was recovered from a brutal dogfighting ring, because she was too angry and scared for anyone without my expertise to handle. I provided for her every need, food and shelter and security and play, and she slowly came to trust and even to love me. But my work sometimes made it impossible to give her my full attention, and what she needed most of all is a friend and playmate. It was impossible for her to get along with normal dogs; at the sight or scent of one, something would snap within her and she would try to kill them by biting down on their jugular vein or their trachea. I hoped with Fortinbras that she could get over her hatred of her own kind and lead a happy, relatively normal life.
I occasionally brought her items with Fortinbras’s scent, mainly towels and blankets, to introduce her to him gradually. But Fortinbras’s training took up much of my time; he had some basic commands but would still need to learn basic rules of life in my home. As his temperament shifted and he began to get bolder in acting out, he started acting out in familiar ways; taking food off the counter, chewing on my loafers, and marking the corner of a room when he thought I wasn’t looking. In each case, my response was the same; a gentle reprimand, which made him seem sad and dejected for the moment, followed by redirection to better behaviors. After three days, he had learned that if he sat patiently while I ate, he would get some scraps at the end of it; that if he chewed on his toys instead of other things, I’d play fetch with them and give him a fun game to play; that if he asked me to go out, he could claim every rock and tree in my yard without any problem. This latter habit had problems of its own, if Fortinbras found a puddle to splash in or some other way of dirtying himself, but that was nothing that couldn’t be solved with a quick spray of the garden hose.
At last, four days after I brought him home, I felt that Ananda and Fortinbras could finally meet each other peacefully. I brought Fortinbras out to the garden and tethered him to a tree, then went to get Ananda. My new pup whimpered seeing me go, but I knew he would be fine. I came back with Ananda on a leash, and for the first time the two looked at each other from a distance. Fortinbras barked and pulled a little on his leash in his attempts to get closer, but Ananda was simply confused at his behavior. The svelte young man was on her level, and was wiggling his rear end like she did, which she had never seen before from one like him. She hesitated and stayed close by me as I came closer to him.
“It’s OK, girl. He’s friendly. It’s alright. Come on.”
I moved closer, until the two were about a foot apart. They sniffed at each other, trying to learn more. Ananda’s scent seemed comforting to Fortinbras, if his wagging butt was to be believed. Ananda was more concerned than anything else.
“Fort, calm down. Stay.”
He stopped trying to reach Ananda at this point, staying still as I let Ananda approach him and get a closer whiff. She smelled him as man, and even though he reminded her of something awful from her past, she relaxed when she realized that he wasn’t the same as them. Fortinbras panted in excitement but stayed where he was, eager to be a good boy. When Ananda stopped sniffing the boy and looked up at me, calm and happy, I knew it was safe to take her off the leash and did so.
“OK. Good boy.”
Fortinbras bowed to his new friend, still tethered to the tree but thrilled to meet someone new. Ananda rotated between checking him out, matching his bows and teasing him with her freedom to run, and running around the yard out of his reach. She would periodically come to me for reassuring pats and scratches, which I happily provided.
When I was satisfied that Fortinbras had calmed down enough, I released him from the tree, letting the two of them sniff at each other and play a little to get to know each other. Most of their play involved a game of chase, with Ananda always ahead of Fortinbras and goading him into pursuit. Sadly, for him, I don’t think Fortinbras will ever be as fast on four legs as other dogs, but no one is perfect. At last, Ananda tired herself out, and Fortinbras was able to catch up with her, sniffing at her and nuzzling her sides. I called the two of them back to the house, then got them some water to drink and made their dinners. They ate in separate rooms, to prevent any territorial issues this early on. Then I went to my bedroom and let the pair follow me inside, taking their places at dog beds on opposite side of the fire place.
“Have good dreams, you two. You were both very good today. See you in the morning.”
I shut off the light and went to sleep, my two best friends guarding me during the night.
Lily’s Visit
The next two weeks were uneventful, at least as much so as life can be with two dogs, one of whom was once human. Ananda was a little doubtful about Fortinbras at first, with his clumsy gait and strange voice and smell, but she grew to accept him as another member of the family. She was also quite helpful as an example for training; when I was teaching Fortinbras a new command, like finding toys by name, she showed him how to do it and gave him encouragement when he was frustrated with not understanding what I meant. They developed a sort of friendly rivalry, racing to fetch toys first, playing tug of war, or wrestling on the floor. Sometimes they’re competing for treats, but mostly its for my attention or favor.
One morning, as I was drinking my coffee and reading some news, my phone rang on the counter. The caller ID showed Lily’s name, which was a surprise but by no means an unwelcome one. I lifted it off the table and swiped the screen to answer it.
“Lily, always a pleasure. How have you been?”
“Fantastic. Preparing my home for the next arrival. She’ll need a sterner touch than I’m accustomed to, I’m afraid. How is dear Fortinbras? Not causing too many problems, I hope?”
I smiled at the suggestion.
“He needed some correction early on, but he’s adapted nicely now. He and Ananda have gotten along very well.”
“That rescue of yours? I thought she was hopeless.”
“I thought so too, but Fortinbras’s brought out the best in her.”
“Good to hear. Do you mind if I stop by this afternoon for a visit? I’d love to see him in his element.”
“Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t ask sooner.”
“Well, life has an obnoxious habit of getting in the way at times. I’ll be there at two. See you then.”
She hung up the phone, and I looked down at my pets, who looked up at me expectantly.
“We’re going to have a visitor today. You two are going to have a lot of fun with her here. But we’d better get you some breakfast first. You’ll need your strength.”
I fed and watered the duo side by side; their food was different enough that neither of them especially wanted the other’s. Then I let them out to relieve themselves, not even bothering with the leashes now; neither of them had any desire to stray too far from me. It wasn’t too long before they were back inside, following me around the house as I did some light cleaning in preparation for Lily’s arrival.
At two o’clock exactly, Lily walked in through my front door. I got up to greet her, but was beaten to it by the dogs, who crowded around Lily licking at her hands and feet as she cooed over them. I grinned at her showing her softer side for once.
“Clearly they like you better. Can’t say I blame them.”
She walked over and grabbed my hand, firmly but with a hint of warmth.
“They’re just eager to meet a new person. That and the treats I’m carrying in my purse.”
“Oh, I see, you plan to buy their love.”
“Well, it’s for sale, and I want it.”
I chuckled at Lily’s playfulness, and she joined in. This was very different from her icy public face.
“We should sit on the patio and talk; it will be easier to put them through their paces with more space to roam.”
I agreed, showing her out to the patio and calling the dogs to join her. It was a warm summer day, but the patio had some shade from the house. I carried out a container of treats for the exercise, filled a large water bowl for my pets to drink from, then opened their toy chest and pulled out half a dozen assorted chew toys, laying them out in a line on the ground. Ananda noticed them first and trotted over to sniff at them; this game was familiar to her. Fortinbras soon joined her, grabbing his favorite red rubber bone and looking over to me, hoping to start a game of fetch.
“Hey. Fort, drop it! You know better than that.”
The bone bounced on the stonework below briefly, as Fortinbras sat on his haunches and looked over to it longingly. I gave Lily a knowing smirk.
“It’s hard for him to resist temptation. He’ll learn”
“Well, you always were a tease, Johnathan. Get on with it before he explodes.”
“Sure thing. Fort, Ananda… Sit.”
Fortinbras was already sitting; he looked at my face expecting a reward for his good behavior. Ananda sat down near the line of toys, ready for what was coming next.
“Good dogs… Ananda, get me the monkey.”
One of the toys on the ground was a stuffed monkey with a squeaker inside of it. Ananda moved along the line, sniffing at the toys until she smelled the right one, then clutched it with her mouth and brought it over to me, wagging her tail with pride. I smiled, taking a treat from the container and gently feeding it to her.
“Good girl… your turn, Fort. Get me the burger. Come on.”
Fortinbras moved from his spot, sniffing at the toys as Ananda had done. It took him a second pass to find it, but he did get the right toy on the first try, placing it by my feet and waiting for me to say something.
“Good boy, Fort… such a smart, boy, yes you are. Have a treat.”
Fortinbras took the treat, swallowing it whole and wagging his rear with the praise. I laid it on thick at this point, since he wasn’t confident enough in his training for me to be less subtle. Lily politely applauded her creation.
“He’s become more astute than he was with me. He has a touch of a wild streak in him now, too… Did you use one of the vials on him already?”
“The yellow one. I wanted her to be a playmate for Ananda and making him this way serves my other purposes for him. Want a turn with them?”
She paused in reflection for a moment, then moved to the toy chest and rummaged through it looking for a suitable toy. She settled on a soft frisbee, holding it in the air and whistling to get the dogs’ attention.
“Here, darlings. Do you want to play fetch? I know you do… Go get it.”
Lily gracefully tossed the frisbee into the yard a fair distance, as the two dogs rushed after it, Ananda keeping pace and Fortinbras trotting steadily behind her. Lily turned a chair to face toward the dogs as they ran, then beckoned for me to sit next to her as she continued to occupy my pets. No doubt she had questions for me.
“I’m curious… what are your “other purposes”? Nothing too appalling, I hope.”
“Well, that depends who you ask. Not to me, or you, and certainly not to Fortinbras there. I wouldn’t place an advertisement for it in the papers, though.”
Lily gave me a searching look. Then she smiled as if she had her answer; she could read me better than I could read myself, which made it impossible for me to keep secrets from her.
“I see… no need to worry about my judgment; as long as he’s happy, you can do as you like with him. Incidentally, I noticed your other dog is coming into season. Have any mongrels coming sniffing about for her, yet?”
The implication was plain; she knew all about my next step and was giving me her permission, if not her blessing.
“Not yet. We live far enough from neighbors that I doubt any will come by, and even if they did, she would rip them apart if they got near her.”
“Oh, what a pity. At least she and Fortinbras are getting along swimmingly.”
“Better than I could have hoped. But, on to less serious matters…”
Lily and I spent some time in idle conversation, on politics and food and training techniques. Every so often one of the dogs would return with the frisbee, and we would throw it back out onto the meadow for the two to chase. Ananda tired of the game before Fortinbras did, and he still had not tired before Lily gave me a handshake and a polite hug and left. I hoped that the next steps went smoothly, because if Ananda wasn’t receptive to it, I was afraid of what she might do.
Heat
As Ananda came into heat, she began to show more noticeable signs; she was more gentle and affectionate in play, toward both me and Fortinbras. Fortinbras didn’t seem to notice the change until later on, when her vulva began to swell and glisten in the light. Lily’s remarks reminded me that Fortinbras might have rivals for her affection now; stray dogs would travel for miles to mate if they smelled her on the wind. So, as a precaution, I began keeping her in her playroom, letting her use a pad in the corner to relieve herself. I still let Fortinbras out when he wanted to go, but he was reluctant to leave her side for reasons he couldn’t understand. His throbbing erection beneath made it clear what he wanted, however.
About a week after Lily’s visit, I decided that it was time for Fortinbras to try things out, but I wanted to guide him directly just to be on the safe side. So, when I brought him down to the cellar, I kept him on a leash, holding the sheet with his command phrases in my other hand. When we came into the brightly lit room, Ananda rushed to greet us, and Fortinbras strained at his leash to get to her. I quickly told both dogs to stay where they are, then looked down at the sheet.
“Right… Fort? Höre und gehorche.”
Fortinbras’s face lost its expression, his breathing became slow and steady. He was listening intently as I gave him his new instructions.
“Fortinbras, this is your playroom. When you’re down here, you will see any dog you meet as a friend and playmate. You will want to make them happy, more than anything. One of your favorite games to play is the mating game, where you and the other dog mate however you both like. You will stop and play a different game if they show you they don’t like it, but otherwise, you won’t stop until you and your playmate both climax. Now… steigen auf und scheine.”
Fortinbras’s eyes regained their focus as he began to pant and wag, looking hungrily at Ananda as she whined in desire to play with him. I unhooked Fortinbras from the leash, then gave him and Ananda permission to move again. He sprinted over to her in his fumbling way, and she more gracefully toward him, the two of them running in circles around each other and nipping at each other’s heels. She began running from him, stopping occasionally to let him catch up as he fervently pursued her. At last, she stopped long enough for him to reach her, an opportunity he used to pounce on top of her and wrestle her a little. She gave some token resistance, as a game, but she behaved as if she wanted him to win, which he promptly did. He fell off of he, moving to her rear end, to her swollen vagina, and sniffing at it tentatively. Ananda countered him by wheeling around to his torso, sniffing and licking at his cock as is bounced beneath him with each heartbeat. Clearly satisfied that they wanted the same thing, she moved slightly forward from him, flagged her tail to the side, and looked back to him longingly.
Fortinbras took the invitation with gusto, moving forward and clambering on top of his playmate. He humped her a little gawkily at first, as he had trouble lining his cock up with her pussy lips, but soon enough he found his mark and pulled himself into it, as Ananda softly whimpered in pleasure. He drilled her hard and fast, trying to make her feel as good as he did and experimenting with different angles and tempos to see what gave her the most bliss. After a while, he found her sweet spot, rubbing against is relentlessly as she nearly buckled with delight. Then, at last, she gave a long, low groan, and her body shivered with must have been her first orgasm. The feel of it drove Fortinbras over the moon, and he came deep inside of her, his fierce pace halted in an instant as he stood hilted under her tail.
Ananda broke the link between them first, turning to him with her tail wagging with enough force that she might power a motorboat if she were lowered into the water. She licked him in thanks, then came over to me to tell me how much she enjoyed that new game. He soon joined her, though understandably he was calmer and more tired than her. I praised the two of them for the first of what I hoped would be many mating sessions.
The Bent
Fortinbras and Ananda’s performance in the playroom would be repeated fairly often in the next few days, as Ananda’s heat made her even more insatiable than Fortinbras; their stamina and grace was admirable. Having shown, to my satisfaction, Fortinbras’s potential as a dog lover, I placed advertisements on various dark web sites, offering his services for a reasonable but lucrative price. My main interest in doing so was to help educate people interested in dog sex, so they could do so safely and give as much pleasure to their partners as possible. I would produce videos, later on, for general tips in this area, but for now I wanted to gather more data, and that required a wider variety of experience for my new stud.
To my surprise, though, I began to feel some attraction to my dogs of my own. Before I got Fortinbras, I did some research into the culture of zoophiles to see whether one of them would be a viable option for her as a mate. Though there were a few videos and pictures of dedicated couples, the human doing their best to make their partner happy, I found that the majority were simply lecherous and unattractive men with animals that remained passive, if not outright disgusted with their fates. Their personal ads were even more telling, with misspelled and ungrammatical begging for either an animal to use or a woman to use one with. That, along with the poor quality and excessive focus on genitalia in their videos for privacy reasons, gave me some doubt about their abilities and their motivations.
Now that I had watched my dogs so closely and seen Ananda’s euphoria and anticipation grow over time, I was convinced of two facts; that mating between a human (mentally altered, but physically human, at least) and a dog could be mutually beneficial, and that I had more than a scientific and humanitarian interest in it. I knew that Fortinbras could be convinced that I was a viable mate, but with Ananda, I was unsure if she could see me as one.
One evening, on the tail end of Ananda’s heat, I went to bed with the dogs, as usual. Fortinbras curled up and relaxed in his bed, having worked hard all day in the play room. As I lay in bed watching a baseball game, Ananda kept trying to goad him into mating with her again. But he had done so four times today, and needed a break, so he grumbled and buried his head in his pillow, trying to ignore her. Frustrated, she jumped up onto my bed and began cuddling up to me. I gave her a hug and patted her belly as she seemed to try to bury herself under me like a heavy blanket. The warmth of her, and the smell of her fur, made me hard, my penis pressing against her back. She noticed the pressure and got up to sniff at it, then turned her back to me and gave me a familiar look; tail raised, legs splayed, eyes imploring. The only difference was that her look was directed at me this time.
She was still slick from her previous encounters with Fortinbras, but I was afraid to penetrate her in case she was also sore, inexperienced as I was. So, I decided to give her something Fortinbras had not yet; I sat up and grabbed hold of her, pulling her back so I could get a closer look at her labia. It was thick and juicy, a small trail of clear fluids dripping out near the bottom. I stuck out my tongue and teased her with it, flicking it across different spots on the outside. Her tail knocked into the side of my head as she wagged in assent. So, I pulled her closer and worked my tongue around in a spiral, centering on that opening. She sat back and pressed against my face, loving this new indulgence.
She was hot against my tongue, the taste salty and sweet with a hint of alkalinity, probably from the rest of the day. Ananda melted under the attention, only occasionally adjusting herself to help my licks get closer to what she wanted. As she got closer to orgasm, panting with intense delight, I began to feel some licks of my own, working their way up the shaft. The thanks were welcome to me and motivated me to work harder to push her onto cloud nine.
Finally, I felt her quiver around my tongue as her orgasm hit her. That, and the sound of her moan of satisfaction, pushed me to orgasm; my testicles tightened as I shot a thick rope of semen at her face and chest. I heard her lick her lips and move away to clean herself up, as the licking at my cock continued and wiped away the semen on my stomach. Now, for the first time, I could see that Ananda hadn’t been thanking me after all; Fortinbras must have gotten up to join the fun, trying to get a tasty treat from me while I was distracted. Apparently, he didn’t need convincing to play with me sexually; his love for his owner was enough. I scratched his ears in appreciation, then invited both of the dogs onto the bed with me to sleep through the night as a reward for being so good.
Routine
Ananda’s heat came to an end, which meant that her sexual appetites slowed down. Not that they stopped entirely, to Fortinbras’s relief. But mating was less frequent for them now and required my assistance with lubricants or more direct aid. Nonetheless, we settled into a comfortable routine as I waited for new clientele for our consultancy. The first correspondence from the ad, surprisingly, was from a familiar address. It read as follows:
Dear Johnathan,
I saw your advertisement and must congratulate you on your new venture. While I expected you to stud Fortinbras out, if not keep him for your own use, I am impressed by your creativity and liberality in the endeavor.
Incidentally, I thought since your custody of him is going so well, I would fill you in on what makes me so particular about his care. Before he was as you now have him, he was my nephew, the son of my ex-husband’s sister, and as he reached maturity, he was headed firmly in the same direction of hedonistic self-destruction. His mother informed me of his grim prospects, and I compensated her for her loss and took him to live a better, more selfless life. She knew what I had gone through with Joseph and understood how much damage he could do over a lifetime with such reckless debauchery.
I am attaching an explanation of what happened to my ex-husband, along with a case report from the Trainer’s Guild. All names and dates have been redacted, but this is Joseph’s case. I am not proud of what was done to him, but I felt it gave him his only possibility at redemption for how he treated me. You deserve to know exactly how I became the trainer I am, and how I chose my specialty.
Sincerely,
Lily
Curious, I opened the document and began to read.
