Pete gasped and panted, struggling, willing himself and his new form to move – yet he barely managed a twitch of a single hoof.
“What's wrong with him - “ Kelsie whimpered, standing up and gazing at him.
With a sigh, Silverhoof glanced at Shadowmane, who looked down, his eyes on the carpet on which he stood.
“It had to be the other way – he will need some time my child, you; were born as what you are – you have it within you, to change your form..."
“I - I don't know how - “ Kelsie whimpered in fright. “When I did it - “
Silverhoof shook her head slowly. “Yes, it hurts us, but you know how – in your mind, you can see yourself, as you are, and how you are in your other – human – form."
Pete moaned and trembled, still as weak as a newborn fawn.
“He will need a day or two or more, depending on himself." Silverhoof gestured with her head to Pete. “Forcing a change on a human – it's a lot harder; than it is you one like you – pure blood. Unconsciously, their mind refuses to accept the duality of their nature. In a way, I sort of understand. Those of us of pure blood lineage? We're born with it a part of who and what we are – its...a part of us, innate, like our memories – passed down through our bloodlines to our fawns, and in turn, to theirs, throughout our history."
Kelsie sniffled, glancing between the two feral deer and her beloved, then back at Silverhoof.
“I'm...scared – I have no memories..."
Shadowmane sighed quietly, shaking his head from side to side.
“You do our daughter – they have been locked away in your mind, by you yourself. I understand why, if we could, we would take them from you – spare you the horrors and memories..."
Kelsie suddenly burst into tears, shaking her head wildly from side to side.
“No, you can't, I don't want them – I don't want these...nightmares... You can't begin..."
Silverhoof stared Kelsie down, before she tilted her head back – exposing the slash across her throat, then dropped her head, gazing mournfully at Kelsie.
“What we do, we do out of love for you, our only fawn," Silvermane spoke quietly. “If we could, would we take that from you – what happened to us, our herd, but you must face it Fallowen, accept it, face it – for denying it, as you have done for all these years, keeps us from our rest. One of us lives still – that one – is you – you carry our pure bloodline; if something happens to you... All of our memories; will be banished to the ether – all we were, would ever be, would be gone forever. Through your blood, we yet live – in your memories. Now, I need you to be brave my dear, sweet fawn – whom I loved more than life itself..."
“No, please – stay away...stay away..." Kelsie shrieked, backing away as the two ghostly Therians approached her.
“My beloved," Shadowmane sighed. “We must do this – please, do not fight us..."
“Leave...alone..." Pete gurgled, struggling to rise, then falling onto the bed.
“We can not, this does not concern you - “ Silverhoof snapped back, laying her ears back, before turning to look at Kelsie. “Fallowen, so true named..."
“NO!" Kelsie screamed, then found herself once again robbed of her ability to speak and move.
“Silverhoof, my love – we're already on thin ice – we've meddled more than we should...we both know we risk dissolution if we do not step away..."
“I do what I do, out of love for our one true daughter!" Silverhoof snapped suddenly, glaring at her partner. “I will risk the righteous wrath of the Goddess, I will risk it gleefully – she may cast me down into the depths of the abyss – I will not let our bloodline die, because Fallowen will not remember as she must!"
Kelsie fought as she'd never fought before, even drawing deeply of the darkness within her – but it too was held immobile, unable to assist before Silverhoof stepped forwards and at that moment – shifted from her feral form to her anthropomorphic form in less than a terrified heartbeat from Kelsie.
Silverhoof stepped forwards, then placed a paw on Kelsie's head, bowing her own as she began to speak, quietly and with intensity. “In perfect love and perfect trust, do I do that which I now do, Fallowen, Daughter of Silverhoof and Shadowmane, I breach your walls and tear them asunder! Remember my child – remember and unlock your ancestral memories – remember..."
Kelsie's mind – suddenly exposed – filled with visions, sights, smells – everything she had fought since that night, flooding into her mind. Screams of her herd pierced her mind like the knives and bullets that had claimed them. Kelsie was like a ghost, standing and watching it all happen – unable to move, to scream, only to endure – and remember...
It felt like an eternity, Silvermane pouring everything she had into Kelsie's memories – including back through the thousands of years through her matriarchal line, until at last she took her paw away and Kelsie dropped to the floor, gagging and panting.
“It is done, for what was done, I can never ask for your forgiveness Fallowen, I pray, in time... you will understand and..."
Silverhoof gasped, feeling a coldness spread over her then spread to Shadowhoof.
“No, please!" Both deer suddenly screamed in terror. “Goddess, forgive us...we beg of..."
Suddenly, they just vanished, the coldness filling the room before it too faded away.
“Please...please...don't hurt them - “ Kelsie pleaded, as she struggled to her shaking hooves, lifting her head to the ceiling in beseeching prayer. “They acted out of love for me, please do not punish them..."
Nothing answered the crying, frightened young doe, Kelsie wondered if anything ever would...

Back in their headquarters, the head of their organization picked up his vibrating phone.
“Speak." He growled into it.
“Team Delta, sir - “ Come a voice. “Package is being prepared, as per your orders. ETA on delivery of cargo to the destination?"
Snarls, whines, and a deafening roar come through the phone's speaker – as angry voices yelled and overrode each other.
Holding the phone out, the boss remained unflappable, even when the screams of agony ended in a sickening crunch of flesh and bones.
“Fuck, Charlie Six is..." Someone yelled.
“I do not care who that fool was - “ Spoke the boss, his voice calm and quiet. “Two days, I want this beast in that sector, in two days."
“Yes...sir!"
Before he hung up, a pleading human voice was heard, then a sound like a pistol shot.
“Incompetent fool - “ Sighed the boss, as he hit 'end call' on his phone, then looked at his underling, who stood trembling on the other side of the desk. “Two days, make it happen. If all goes to plan, we won't even have to mobilize ourselves... I'm sure one doe and a turned human should pose... no obstacle for our friend..."
With a sickly smile, the underling nodded. “No, sir – we'll bomb it into the dark ages, then affix the explosive collar, as per your orders – it won't get away from us... I swear."
“Indeed – now, carry out my will – we will wipe that Godless beast, her mate and that fawn out – I want their heads on my wall by the end of the week!"
“Yes, sir!" Snapped the underling, as he turned and strode purposefully out.
Once he was out of sight and range, he pulled his own phone out and by memory, punched in a phone number – then held it to his ear.
“Sierra? Its Omega - “ He spoke quickly. “Package, I repeat, the package is to be delivered to your sector in two days. Imperative, repeat, imperative, Warn primary target. Imperative, repeat, imperative, warn primary target..."
Quickly, he ended the call and breathed out, leaning back against the corridor and hanging his head. He'd done what he could...
He just hoped it was enough...
