Living the life of an adventurer is every young lad's dream. To wander the Eleven Realms in search of wealth and danger would be the ultimate pride. Tales of heroes fighting marauders and capturing bounties were replayed in fertile minds everywhere, often their own handsome visage in place of whoever the protagonist had been. Everyone had their own personal favorite, from Otrith the Heavy to Lester the Unlikely, each as unique from the last thanks to whatever personality or skill had carried their name across the world for everyone to hear.
But even among such famous names there stood a hero of heroes, a man hailing from the old times when blood kept was held in greater thanks to all of the blood shed. He fought and struggled like every other name come to be heralded, but above them all he fought harder and struggled most arduously. The failures in his wet years were harsh, but the many triumphs following them are cherished as the most spectacular. His name was deified, his image idolized, his story told again and again so that nobody could escape his glory. He was inevitable, unstoppable, irreplaceable as the greatest hero that ever lived. He was Altniss, the black panther sent down by God from His river, the greatest hero of all time.
Among his many worshippers was Yolk, a young monkey seeking fame like the great panther's. He had set out from his home, gear crafted by his own hand rattling about his simian frame, the family sword in its scabbard, and a fire behind his eyes. The day he had left home replayed in his head every night he retired to sleep. His mother had wept tears of bitter-sweetness. His father could not have looked prouder. His many siblings ran through the whole village telling everyone that Yolk, their eldest brother, was leaving to become an adventurer. A going away party was held in his honor. The last time he saw them he was walking down the road out of the village. He turned to look for the last time. Everyone was waving. He quickly turned forward again, having made a vow to never look back.
Just a month into his “adventuring" he realized that maybe this was a mistake.
Adventuring is hard when you don't know what you're doing, and when you don't know what you're doing people don't want to hire you. Going from village to village to advertise himself was awkward and uncanny. A lissom monkey with blue fur and skinny limbs did not earn the eye of potential buyers. The few jobs he managed to grab offered paltry sums and were no riskier than making sure someone's grandma didn't fall over on the road while walking to church.
It was disheartening how outclassed he was by the veterans. Men twice his size and with scars galore were the types worthy of hiring for dangerous jobs. Their armor was dented and their blades pitted in blood. Notches had been carved into their belt representing a foe they had cut down in battle. Tales of peril and triumph rattled off their tongues with startling ease. Scenes more spine tingling than anything Yolk had ever experienced were of no more consequence to them than a trip to the pond.
They turned down any request from Yolk to become an apprentice. Whatever advice he was given was more often than not directions to the nearest company headquarters where he could make himself a private. Those were the kinder remarks. Many of them outright told him to give up or laughed in his face.
Crestfallen, he would leave that village for the next, only to receive the same welcome and be forced to leave with little more or less than what he already had. Before long his purse was beginning to run dry. Even when he was accepting every job he could find there was little relief from his worsening financial situation. Nights were spent rationing food. It wouldn't be long before he would be forced into hermitry. He could've gone home. The way back was straight and easy, but he didn't dare. Worse than the hunger pangs would be the shame on both himself and his loved ones.
Only when he stopped in one village and received some advice from an old man did his fortune start to turn. It was a retired adventurer, or so he claimed, that saw the hungry Yolk wandering down the streets with his sword on his hip and his shield on his back. He had whistled at the monkey and called him over. Yolk turned to see the old man, a wolf with white fur, standing on one leg and a crutch. His right leg had been removed above the knee.
He said he knew a rookie when he saw one, and that he knew Yolk was in need of some help. Pride told Yolk to deny it, but common sense prevailed, so he admitted. The old man said there was no shame in it, and that even the great Altniss had suffered through frailty in his early years. The wolf told Yolk that he should visit an enchanter just outside of the village. He was a young fellow who lived on his own, selling his powers for those desperate enough to require them. He could help improve his armor, weapons, and body, perhaps turning Yolk into a better prospect for hire.
Yolk didn't know whether to trust the old man or not, but he was too desperate to refute. He asked him where the enchanter was, and the old man told him. “Tell him the Litch sent you," he said with a wink.
Yolk nodded and thanked the man.
“Don't thank me yet," he said grimly. “We'll see if he does you any good."
Yolk could only hope. He set off for the enchanter the next morning, finding his cabin on the roadside deep into the forest east of that village. It vexed him how someone could live on their lonesome in such a remote portion of nature. His spot on the road was not obvious either, but hidden well behind the trees where the hut was kept beneath the canopy's shadowy blanket. Made of stone and mortar, it was no bigger than the home Yolk grew up in, unfit to harbor anything more than a family of three, four at the most. A stubby chimney sprouted from its thatched roof, spitting a thin column of smoke. Beyond it Yolk could see a vegetable garden in the backyard.
Hardly the home of a talented wizard, Yolk thought to himself as he walked up the path towards her front door. Though I suppose someone as powerful as them can live wherever they well please. I pray he doesn't take me as an intruder. He came up to the door and knocked on it three times. Knock-knock-knock. Within a single moment there answered a voice.
“Come in!"
It surprised Yolk. Did he see me coming? He grabbed the cast iron knob and pulled the door open. Before him was not a home for living but a shop for propriety. There was no furniture or kitchen but a long counter separating the main room where Yolk stood and the area where the owner worked. In front of him on the floor was a sprawling brown rug, likely the fur of a bear. Hung on the walls were various antiques and weapons, some rustic, others fantastic in their design and size. On the wall opposite from the door there hung a family crest woven into a cross stitch.
And in front of that, behind the counter, was the wizard who owned the establishment. He was a reptilian, covered in a loose tunic and robe that fell over his head in a beige curtain. The scales of his face were a shiny black and milky white, the former going around his eyes and coming down the flanks of his snout where they met at the tip. His eyes were brown, centered by a pair of black, vertical slits. The snout was round and soft. It had lips with a slot for his tongue to slip through. Resting on his chest was a small wooden charm attached by a necklace. Yolk couldn't tell if he was a snake or a lizard. Either way, he was handsome.
“Welcome, traveler," he said as he leaned on the counter with his hands. His voice was young and spry. He looked back at him with eyes unblinking. “How can I help you?"
It took Yolk a moment to respond. At last he blinked and remembered what he was doing. “Ah… Yes. I received word of an enchanter out here who could possibly help me with my gear. Is that you?"
The owner's brow lifted. “An enchanter? Out here, in the middle of the forest? Why, I wouldn't think so."
Yolk's heart plummeted. “Oh… I'm terribly sorry." That damned wolf. I swear I'll-
Calming his rage was a bright smile and a flick of the tongue from the owner. “I'm playing with you, young traveler. Yes, I'm the enchanter you seek. Well, I am an enchanter. I can only hope that I am the one you need."
Yolk sighed a laugh. “Ah, I see. Yes, I think you are, and I hope so too."
“Please, come in. Close the door."
Yolk shut the door and walked up to the counter. “An old man in the village near here told me about this place. He told me to tell you that he sent me here."
The enchanter cut him off with a quick raise of his hand. “Ah, ah… Don't tell me. A one-legged white wolf named Hitch?"
Yolk grinned, exposing some of his sharp white fangs. “Aye, and he said his name is Litch."
The enchanter rolled his eyes. “Litch, Hitch, Mitch, I can never remember. Anyway, he was right to send you here. You're an adventurer, are you not?"
Yolk wouldn't have called himself that quite yet, but he nodded anyway. “Aye."
The enchanter nodded. “Litch sends me those in need from time to time. I helped him in his early days. Got him on his feet and made him a successful man, though I'm afraid I can't do that now seeing how he only has one now."
That struck Yolk as odd. Early days? Litch was an old man, or so I thought. This man can't be much older than me. It would've been uncouth to pry a stranger for their age, so Yolk let it be. “What's your name?"
The enchanter bowed his head humbly. “I am Mabi. And you are?"
“Yolk."
“Hmmm, like an egg?"
Yolk nodded. If I had a copper. “Yes, like from an egg."
Mabi smiled. “I like it. So, Yolk like from an egg, what will you have me mend to help your career as an adventurer?" He looked at Yolk's leather breastplate and the sword hanging from his side. “You could certainly use some buffering. None of that's going to stop an arrow, least of all a blade."
“Well, I was hoping you would enchant as much as I could afford and what would make me more suitable for employers. I am small of pocket right now. 17 copper and 3 silver. I don't know how much I can get for that-" or even if I can get anything. With hindsight, I probably should've asked Litch what Mabi's prices were. “-but I'll take whatever I can get."
Mabi listened patiently and nodded along. He betrayed no reaction when Yolk said how much money he had. “It'll buy you something, that much I can guarantee."
That was a relief to hear.
“But it won't buy you a lot."
That, not so much.
“But seeing how your goal is presentation for now, I can do something that will help you out. Stitch sent you, so I'll throw in something extra for you."
Yolk was on the verge of smiling like an idiot. A feeling of euphoric relief had fallen on him, making his blue fur stand on end. He quickly doused his smile. A hero was supposed to be stoic. “Thank you. I am in your debt."
“Yes, yes you are. Now let me see what you have that we can tinker with. Take your armor off for me, please."
Yolk brought his hands down to his sides where he could untie the strings holding his breastplate up. Stopping him was a loud rustling sound like a rug being dragged across the floor. Suddenly Mabi began to float across the counter like a ghost, his head remaining on the same plane throughout. He came out from around the counter, revealing not a pair of legs like Yolk expected but a serpentine body that slithered him towards Yolk. Coming below his waist and out from the bottom of his tunic were segmented belly scales the color of yellow. He floated to a stop in front of the gawking adventurer, his tubular body not yet completely out from behind the counter. On the back was a pattern of chevrons alternating between brief white arrows and wider black ones.
Mabi smiled at him. “What's the matter? Is there something on my face?"
Yolk blinked. “Ah, no. Sorry. Forgive me."
Mabi shook his head. “Nothing to forgive. Your first time seeing a naga, I presume."
Yolk blushed and then nodded. “Aye."
“Well, there's a first time for everything. It's my first time seeing a monkey with such blue fur and fierce eyes."
This time Yolk could not fight his bashful smile. “You flatter me."
“I flatter you with my genuine thoughts. Now let me see your armor."
“Oh. Right." Yolk untied his breastplate and then pulled it over his head. Next came his shield, his sword, and finally his limb guards. It was all made of dense leather, studded with tarnished iron. Enough to slow down a blade, but nowhere near enough to stop it. He placed it all on the counter, leaving him in his plain wool clothes. He stepped aside. “There."
“Thank you." Mabi slithered forward, his belly shifting across the stone floor audibly.
Yolk could not help but steal glances at the naga's tremendous length. It was required restraint not to lean over the counter to see the rest of him. There's probably nothing but snake coiled up over there, covering the floor. He kept his curiosity in check and watched as Mabi organized his armor piece by piece on the counter, inspecting it.
“Well, I'll be honest. You aren't going to wow many potential suitors with just this."
Yolk sighed. “Aye, I am well aware."
“Don't look so beaten. There's much that can be done to pretty it up. It won't protect you any better, but one or two employers may see you and think-" Mabi put his hand over his chin and stiffened his lip. “-'Wow. Now there's a hero worth giving money to.'"
Yolk chuckled. “Will it look that impressive?"
“Well, don't expect diamond-encrusted steel plate, but it'll be something a lot more presentable than this, no offense meant."
“None taken. I made it myself. I should've hired a smith."
“Yes, yes you should have." Mabi spent the next few moments running his hands over the pieces of armor, memorizing every stitch and facet. Finally he nodded. “OK. I think I know what I'll do. I'll use three spiffing spells that will buff out the scratches, make it encompass your body more completely, and give it a more sleek-look. Not only that, I'll throw in a protection charm."
Yolk's heart was fluttering in his chest, but he remained calm. “That sounds great. What will that cost me?"
“A silver and five copper. The protection charm would normally be five silver on its own, but I'm throwing that in for free, for having come from Mitch."
That was incredible, but Yolk could not help but feel a little guilty. “My appreciation is immense, but I cannot possibly accept the protection charm for free."
“Oh, yes you can. All you have to say is 'I accept'. I bet even a novice like you is capable of that." Mabi shot him a cheeky smile.
“I mean… I can accept, but I don't think it proper."
“Well I do. Is my protection charm not worthy?"
Yolk threw his hands up besides his chest and shook his head. “No, no, no! I didn't mean it that way."
“I thought not. You'll take my protection charm. It's really no scale off my back. I insist." Mabi slithered himself back around and towards the counter. He muttered, “I wouldn't have told you the cost if I knew you'd react that way."
“What?"
“Oh, nothing!"
Yolk watched him float back behind the counter. Part of his body was bent outside of the counter's end where Yolk could see it. It slid past in a blur before finally slimming out into a tip and vanishing. Yolk estimated him to be from 12 to 15 feet long. It made him shudder knowing that there were naga out there much, much longer.
“You can have a seat wherever you'd like. This will take no longer than an hour. You don't have anywhere to be, do you?"
Yolk shook his head. “No."
“Good. Get comfortable. There's a shelf with books for you to read if you'd like. Learn something and then tell me about it."
Yolk looked at the yonder wall and noticed a short bookshelf and an armchair next to it. “Ah, thank you."
“Don't thank me yet." Mabi gathered Yolk's armor. “I'll see you in an hour." With that he slithered away through the back door, out into the backyard. His body slithered through the doorway, holding it open until the tip passed through it and let the door fall shut.
Don't thank me yet. That rang a bell. He sat down on the chair and grabbed a random book and started to read it.
An hour passed and Yolk hadn't learned a damn thing, not after leafing through four different books for a single page with anything remotely understandable. All he had found were bizarre lingo, vexing definitions, and indecipherable illustrations. He was jerked out of his fruitless reading when Mabi came back through the door. In his arms he carried a bundle wrapped up in a yard of cloth. A proud smile was on his face. He set it down on the counter.
“Have a look. Tell me how I did. Did you learn anything?"
Yolk crammed the book he was holding back into its space on the shelf. “Yes. I learned that enchanting is very, very hard."
The way Mabi laughed was whimsical and gay. “It is that. 70 years of practice and I still have not learned all there is to know."
Yolk felt his heart throb. Seventy years??? How old is he!? He stood up from the chair and wandered over to the counter where his armor was bundled up in the cloth. The tip of his scabbard and the pommel of his sword poked through the center of it. Beneath it all was his shield which looked more robust and heavy. Yolk pulled the top layer of cloth, revealing his breastplate.
He did not think it was his. The one he had come in with was a single layer of crudely hewn leather barely classifiable as armor. In front of him was a remarkable upgrade above that. The plate did not fall flat but instead bowed out and up towards the chest. It met in the center to form a perfectly straight edge. It still resembled leather, but had become something much smoother and of a finer texture. Trimming the collar was a shiny metal. Steel perhaps? Maybe, but was much more reflective than any steel Yolk had seen before. He guessed chrome, but did not think Mabi was so generous as to give him all that. Whatever it was, he stood there in awe. Mabi stood with his hands behind his back and a proud smile on his face. He let Yolk bask in the glory of his newly spiffied armor for as long as he needed to.
Yolk picked up the breastplate, holding it by the sides gingerly. It looked so nice that he was worried that it would break somehow. It held firm, though he noticed that when he ran his thumbs over the leather that it felt much rougher than it looked. In fact, it felt exactly as it did before.
Mabi read his mind. “The spiff enchantment only makes the armor look better. It does nothing to alter its physical properties. What you're looking at is an illusion, pure and simple. It won't aid you in battle besides maybe wowing your enemies for a second or too."
That was slightly disappointing to hear, but it made sense. “Ah, I see. Regardless, it looks incredible."
“Doesn't it? I think I did well with what I was given."
Yolk scoffed. “I think so too." He laid the breastplate back down on the counter to inspect the rest of his armor. It followed the same theme of smooth leather put together into an obtuse edge. Trimming it all was that reflective metal which Yolk now knew was neither steel nor chrome, though he would like to pretend it was the latter. His scabbard looked nice too. From being sewn together by wiry threads, it was now held together by shiny metal studs and was without a scuff or blemish. The hilt was made out of smooth mahogany and the pommel featured a silver bulb at its center. Of course, when he touched it he realized that it was just a facade. He supposed that it didn't matter so long as it could cut as well as it did before.
“This is incredible," Yolk said. He drew his sword with a flashy shing then gazed at his reflection in the blade. He looked at Mabi. “Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means."
Mabi bowed his head. “It's the least I can do for a young adventurer. You'll do much better at attracting employers with that, I'm certain. And it will protect you better too. Perhaps now you won't feel an arrow in your chest."
Yolk laughed nervously. “Yes, let's hope not." He slid his sword back into the scabbard and put it with the rest of his armor. He fished out what he owed from the coin purse hanging off his shoulder. He laid it on the counter and slid it towards Mabi. “Here. I feel I owe you more, but please accept this."
Mabi nodded and took the payment. “Gladly. All you owe me now is your survival. Go out there and be an adventurer, but do not get yourself killed. Be safe and be wise, Yolk."
Yolk bowed his head. “I will. Thank you again, Mabi. I hope to see you again some day."
Mabi bowed back. “And I you."
***
Half a year had passed since Yolk's journey to Mabi's shop. As promised, Yolk spent his adventures safely and wisely, or at least as safely and as wisely as a man selling his blade to anyone could. His spiffied armor caught the eye of the right folk. He'd made back the amount of coin he had when he started adventuring and was making it again on a regular basis. The tricks of the trade were his to learn. While he wasn't going off on the wildest journeys, he bumped shoulders with those who had. They did not laugh or tell him where the nearest company was. They told him everything he needed to know. He was one of them now.
Business was just how Mabi liked it to be during that time: slow. He could've counted on one hand how many people came to visit him since Yolk showed up, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. People coming over meant time away from his garden, and time away from his garden meant headaches. He liked having that little chunk of the forest to himself. Sometimes he thought about the monkey, recalling how they had both expressed their desire to see each other again. Maybe he would show up one day, maybe he wouldn't. Time would tell.
Knock-knock-knock.
Mabi was in the backyard, pouring water out of a watering can onto his cabbages. He had heard the knock all the way from there, but not the footsteps of whoever had made them. The path to his home had been enchanted so that he could hear the approach of newcomers. Only those who returned could approach undetected.
He didn't want to jump to conclusions, but his hope soared. He set the can down and slithered his way to the back door and came to a stop behind the counter. His body took some time sliding the rest of the way inside and then fell into a coil around him. He laced his fingers together over the counter. “Come in!"
The door opened. Mabi's immediate reaction was disappointment. It was not the monkey he had met six months ago, but a much larger fellow. By coincidence, he also happened to have blue fur around his body and a gray face, but that's where the similarities ended. This gentleman was rippled with muscles from head to toe, the most definition coming around a trunk littered with abs and topped by two brick-like pecs. But that left Mabi confused. If it was not the fellow from before, then who-?
He nearly jumped out of his skin when Yolk stepped inside. He recognized him not from his fur but the eyes he had fallen in love with over half a year ago. Yolk smiled at his shocked expression. “Hello there. I heard there was an enchanter around here. Is that you?"
Mabi was speechless. Before him was not the scrawny monkey still wet behind the ears, but a towering monument to masculinity. The leather armor was gone in favor of dented steel plate that covered his limbs. His torso was bare, showing off that Olympian topography. Below the layer of armor that protected him Mabi could tell that his arms were enormous. Traps rose from the flanks of his neck like a second set of shoulders. His face was more rugged and chiseled. Draped over his back were several pelts, no doubt foes he had vanquished in the past. Most importantly, the crotch of his armor was bowed out significantly, probably harboring something truly impressive.
Mabi remained reticent out of shock. He had to blink his nictitating membrane twice to confirm that he wasn't seeing things. Had Yolk learned spiffing enchantments too? “Um… Hello. Yolk, right?"
Yolk nodded. “Like from an egg, the very same, in the flesh. How are you, Mabi?" His voice was deeper too, thrumming with confidence.
Just hearing his name out of Yolk's mouth was jarring. “Ah, right. I've been… I've been splendid!" Mabi laughed. “I must say, I wasn't expecting anyone's face today, least of all yours. I'd ask how your adventures have been, but I can see quite clearly that they've been smashing successes. You look like a champion!"
“You think? I have you to thank for that." Yolk closed the door behind him. “Finding jobs was so much easier after the enchantments you performed for me. It helped my confidence. I met so many men who helped me get better. I've gotten stronger too."
Mabi laughed nervously. “Yes, I noticed that. You're quite the specimen now. I'm very impressed."
Yolk bowed his head humbly. “Thank you. That means everything coming from the man I owe it all to."
Mabi almost blushed. “Hush. You owe it to yourself. I merely lit the fuse. You aimed the cannon."
“Maybe not, but you have my gratitude regardless. I know you're capable of accepting that. You told me not to thank you until we knew how well the enchantments worked. Well, it is my greatest pleasure that they worked out spectacularly. Thank you, Mabi."
Mabi was trying not to cry. He failed to remember the last time someone had made him feel that special. “And thank you, Sir Yolk. Just from what I've seen, you're my greatest achievement."
“I'm inclined to agree. You know I still have the leather armor you enchanted. I fear it doesn't fit anymore, but I hang on to it. I feel it brings me good luck."
“I'm flattered! Where do you keep it?"
“On my person within my carriage. I have it parked outside with the men I brought here."
Mabi frowned. “The men you brought here?" I didn't hear any footsteps. “Are they anybody I know? Fitch?"
Yolk shook his head. “Oh no, no, no. Or at least I hope not. These are wanted men I've collected for bounties. They're tied up and stacked in my carriage. Would you like to see?"
Mabi wasn't expecting that. His joy of seeing Yolk was somewhat dampered now that he knew there were dangerous criminals nearby that he hadn't known about. “Ah, no thank you. That kind of business isn't of my taste."
“Don't worry. I'll leave you out of it, then."
Thank God. “So, what brings you here? Come for more enchantments? I bet you have the coin for something better this time around."
“I certainly do!" He clapped his hand over the swollen sack of coins that hung next to his hip. “But while I'd love to purchase your services again, that's not what brings me here."
“Oh? What, then?"
“Oh, I had just been rolling through this territory. I remembered you, of course and had to come see you. Would have been rude of me not to."
“How courteous of you. I'm flattered." That was putting it lightly. Yolk was the first returning visitor in years. The face Yolk had thought about him too made Mabi's heart dance. He had to calm himself down. Yolk was just a customer, perhaps a friend, and nothing more. No point in getting too excited over just that.
“I have plenty of gear and weapons for you to enchant this time, and for more than just making it look more impressive. My plate could use some added thickness. Fortunately I haven't had any arrows to the chest, and I'd like it to stay that way. I'm sure you have some spells that would make them impenetrable."
“Maybe not impenetrable, but at least thicker than they are now. I can also create layers of magic that will act as added armor rather than making what is already there thicker. That acts better, you know, and it saves weight."
“I trust your expertise. How much will that set me back?"
Mabi considered saying he'd do it for free, but knew Yolk would resist. “For the absolute most I can do, 25 gold and 30 silver. A hefty price, yes, but more than worth your health and safety while hunting bounties."
Yolk didn't flinch at the price. He hoisted his coin sack and plopped it on the counter with a loud thud. He opened it to reveal a miniature horde of gold coins. His fist dove inside and came back up full of shiny, yellow metal. He placed it on the counter, forming a pile of wealth greater than Mabi had ever seen at once.
“That should cover it," Yolk said.
Mabi gawked at the mound of wealth. “Yes, I think it will too. That's a lot more than 25 gold, you know."
“I think it is too. Take as much as you need. I have more in the bag and will receive more for the bounties when I turn them in today."
Mabi guessed correctly that it would be fruitless to argue with him. He recalled how scrawny and insecure Yolk had been when they first met, there being barely any coins in his purse to rattle. A lot can happen in half a year, apparently. He took exactly 26 coins and produced a purse of silver for change.
Yolk his hand up. “Ah, ah. Keep that."
Mabi figured he would say that and put the purse away. After gathering the gold and waiting for Yolk to collect everything else Mabi nodded at his armor. “I'll be needing that."
“Right."
Yolk took his time undoing the ties holding his armor together and sliding them off his limbs. Mabi thrilled at the sight of his arm muscles. They were as thick and defined as he hoped they'd be. Lashed across his blue fur were thin scars. His bare hands were calloused and leathery. Down came the armor around his legs. That shiny dome of steel covering his crotch fell away to reveal a mountainous bulge hidden behind a loin cloth. A shiver rolled through Mabi's body, bristling his scales. He could tell that the monkey was obstreperously hung. A wonder how I didn't see that the last time we met.
Yolk laid his armor out on the counter. All that covered him now was his loincloth, leaving his hind end in the breeze. “There we go. Do everything you can with them. I trust they'll be the best I've ever worn once you're done with them."
For whatever reason, maintaining eye contact with him had suddenly become difficult. “You put too much pressure on me, fair adventurer. I'll see what I can do. You can have a seat and read if you'd like. Perhaps you'll learn something this time."
“Actually, if it's all the same and no trouble, I'd like to wander in your backyard. I saw your garden. You have a nice crop. The day is pretty and I'd like to spend some time in it."
“Oh." Mabi blinked his membranes. Nobody had ever asked that before. The garden was his sanctuary, a place of meditation where he could distance himself from the world and its many nonsenses. Nobody had ever been near it besides himself. He liked to keep it that way.
He spoke before he realized what he was saying. “Of course. Have a look around."
Yolk smiled. “Thank you. I promise not to bother anything."
Mabi harrumphed while gathering Yolk's armor. It was very heavy, nearly too much for the naga to handle. “You best not. If I find so much as a single trampled vegetable I'll turn your armor to cardboard."
Yolk laughed. “I'm certain you will."
Mabi slithered around towards the back door and pushed it open. Once his body was done sliding through it Yolk followed. Mabi's backyard was a large rectangle cut directly out of the dense woods that surrounded him. Throughout the center was a densely packed grid of growing vegetables, weeks away from harvest time. There were heads of cabbage, towering tomato plants, and the bright green paddle-leaves of carrots. Beyond that was a small cabin similar to the main house: made of stone and mortar with a thatched roof. It stood between two trees, its slanted roof constellated with fallen leaves.
Mabi slithered past the garden towards the hut and came to a stop in front of the door. His hands were completely full, the doorknob being close but also far. With hindsight, carrying all of Yolk's armor in order to impress him was probably a bad idea.
“Here. Let me help you." Yolk came up from behind him and opened the door. He smiled at the naga.
Mabi hoisted the armor up in his arms. They were starting to ache. “Thank you." He slithered into the cabin and dragged his body the rest of the way inside. Once the tip of his tail was in he closed the door. Inside of the hut was cramped, but that's how Mabi liked it. He drew his body into a coil beneath him, elevating his head towards the ceiling which was held together by several wooden cross beams. The enchanting table was but a rectangular slab of granite with a flat top on four wooden legs. A half-melted candle stood on each corner. Only two windows sat in the wall flanking the door to produce light. There were curtains on a rod, currently folded to the side. When the enchanting began, there could be no sunlight.
Mabi dropped the armor onto the table unceremoniously. The clatter was deafening inside of the small cabin. He could treat it as harshly as he pleased. Any damage he did to it could easily be remedied. On a shelf to his right was a box of matches from which he drew one, struck it on the granite, then lit the four candles. After waving the match out he made to close the curtains.
Stopping him was the sight of Yolk in his backyard, pacing around the garden with his hands folded behind his back. He was looking at the plants, admiring them while walking along the chicken wire fence. Mabi stood at the window, glad that it was dark inside where Yolk couldn't see him. Mabi watched him come towards the hut, round the corner of the garden, then turn to his right. Mabi glimpsed the flank of his backside. His tail fell down in front of his buttocks, the tip of it pulled upwards into a steep curl. His buttocks were round and taut, dimpled in their flanks by a core of heavy glute.
Mabi's heart raced as he watched the adventurer turn the next corner and continue his lap around the garden, this time walking away with his back to the hut. Naturally, Mabi remained focused on that hunky butt of his. Yolk's tail did a quick flick to the side, offering the naga a brief but uncensored glimpse at his ass. His attention was grabbed elsewhere when he saw the back of Yolk's scrotum. It was bathed in shadow and mostly obscured by Yolk's two thunderous thighs, but from that look alone Mabi could make out a bundle of manhood more burdensome than anything he had seen before.
Mabi realized how fast his heart was racing. The curtain hissed across the rod when he whipped it shut. He did the same to the other window, dousing the cabin in darkness other than the mournful glow of his four candles. He did a sharp shake of the head. Stop looking at him like that. He's nothing you haven't seen before. No more than a friend. Respectively, that would be hard, that was a lie, and Mabi hoped that Yolk would become much, much more than that. He scoffed and turned towards his enchanting table. Time to get to work.
He opened the appropriate spell books and reminded himself of everything that needed to be done before he laid each individual piece of armor on the table and began reciting the proper incantations. Replacing the glow of the candles was a colorful luminescence that swept across the granite table top and enveloped whatever piece of armor was being enchanted. Mabi spent a great amount of time with each one, making sure every chant was spoken correctly. His words came fluently and without stutter. Not once did he ever have to repeat.
More than an hour had passed before he enchanted the last piece. The best was saved for last, that being Yolk's half-globe of a crotch plate. It may not have been covered in the cost, but Mabi threw in one extra enchantment, one that would make the cup more comfortable for the monkey. He knew that wielding such a massive tool had to have been difficult for him. With the task complete he bundled the armor in a cloth and exited the hut.
Yolk was lying on his back beneath the shade of a tree, hands folded behind his head. His knee was bent, the other leg resting on top of it while his foot bounced. Spilling from between his thighs and towards the grass was his scrotum, a giant blue purse swollen by the presence of two enormous eggs. Tattooed on it was a collage of archaic runes Mabi could not decipher. Yolk's head snapped when he heard the door open. He quickly dropped his leg, covering his shame (if it could be called that) with his loincloth. He sat up from the tree.
“How did it go?" he asked.
Mabi's face was hot as he slithered over with the bundle in his arms. “Spectacularly. These will stop almost anything now. I emphasize the word 'almost'. Don't go trying to stop any cannonballs." He came up to Yolk and laid the bundle next to him. “Have a look."
Yolk unwrapped the cloth and was greeted by the mirror-shine of his armor. Every scuff and bit of tarnish was gone, replaced by Yolk's reflection. He rapped his knuckles on them. Bong-bong-bong. Doing so hurt his knuckles, the plate had become so hard. He took each piece out of the bundle and laid them in the grass when he was done inspecting them. Lastly was his crotch piece. It shone more brightly than the rest.
Yolk smiled brightly. “Wow. Incredible work as always. I'd say you did a better job than last time."
“Well, I did a lot more this time since you had the coin for it. The spiffing was included in the cost with the protection charms."
“I don't think I have to wait this time to thank you. This will protect me much better than ever before."
“Yes it will."
Yolk slid his armor on its cloth out from beside him. He patted the space next to his legs. “Won't you sit and rest? Let's talk."
Mabi's eyes went wide. That seemed dreadfully out of place. Letting Yolk out here had been a step over his boundaries. Sitting with him just to talk felt like a genuine violation. “Talk? About what?"
Yolk shrugged. “About anything. It doesn't matter. You haven't sat down and talked with anyone in a while, have you?"
“No," Mabi admitted. “I haven't."
“Sorry, I don't mean to bother."
“No, no! You don't bother. I just haven't had anyone out here before, let alone a mostly nude adventurer." One with gorgeous balls, I might add.
“Do you need me to dress?"
“No. You're fine the way you are." Very fine indeed. Mabi lifted his torso into the air and began retracting his body towards him. It coiled into a swirl, his head and trunk rising above it all like a cherry on an icecream cone. He towered above Yolk and smiled down at him. “Alright, I'm sitting. What is it you'd like to chat about?"
“I was hoping to ask what brought you here. To this house, I mean. Last time we met you said you were in this trade for over seventy years. I'm afraid it's haunted me since, and I have to ask, however impolite it may be. How old are you?"
Mabi smiled. “91."
Yolk blew air through his lips. “91, and Litch said you were young."
“For a naga, yes. My grandfather was 312 when he died. I think your human equivalent is about 25 or so, maybe a little more."
“That's about how old I thought you were when we met."
“And you? How old are you?"
“20."
Mabi chuckled. “A hatchling."
“We monkeys don't hatch, you know."
“I do, I only jest."
“So do I."
“I noticed that you didn't bring a sword for me to enchant. Do you still have one? What's your weapon of choice these days?"
“Ah, well I still have the sword you enchanted for me last time. Again, as a keepsake. But no, I don't use a sword anymore, or any edge weapon for that matter."
“Oh? Then what do you use? I'm not versed in the realm of combat. I wouldn't know a sword from a stick in the ground."
“You don't have to. As for me, well…" His hand came from behind his head. It slid down his torso towards his loincloth. “I have my own means of vanquishing any threats."
“Really? What is it?"
Yolk narrowed his eyes and looked off in the distance. “Well… That's difficult to explain."
Mabi waved it off. “You don't have to. Whatever it is, I bet it's gruesome."
Yolk widened his eyes for a moment. “Yeah, you can say that."
“I'm sure you use your giant muscles. That's the first thing I noticed when you walked in. Didn't think it was you!"
“Well, my methods certainly have aided my growth. In some areas more than others. The men in my cart are lucky they're wanted more alive than dead or else they'd help me grow even more."
“How would they do that?"
Yolk shook his head. “Again, it's hard to explain."
“Ah, then don't." Mabi's eyes happened upon his crotch again. To his mild horror, Yolk had grown erect, tenting the loincloth into something he'd see at a religious revival. He could see the outline of his cock helmet. It was as broad and heavy looking as he thought it would be. A great blush rose to his face.
Yolk wondered what he was blushing at until he looked down and saw his cloth rising. He shot his hand on it to press it down, bundling the cloth around the shaft. That only made things worse for Mabi, who snapped his gaze away.
“I'm sorry," muttered Yolk. “I didn't-"
“No! No, don't be." Mabi laughed nervously. His heart was roaring in his chest. He had to think of something else before his own erection would build and start rising out of his cock slit.
Yolk gathered his pole hurriedly, tucking it into his thighs and squeezing it. After straightening the loincloth out and making sure it was flat he sat back against the tree. “There. Better. Again, sorry."
“It's alright," Mabi said, looking back at the monkey. “These things happen."
An awkward silence passed between them. They shared it looking off towards the garden. The leaves above them whispered with the coming of a breeze. Yolk was pinching a tree nut between his fingers, squishing its mushy innards and flicking them into the grass.
“Do you ever get lonely?" Yolk asked all of the sudden.
Mabi looked down at him with a frown. “I beg your pardon?"
Yolk was looking back up at him again. “I asked, do you ever get lonely? I wouldn't stand being here on my lonesome for so very long like this. Does anyone else ever come around, or is it just your garden to keep you company?"
Mabi was frowning. Just like that, the monkey's presence had become less than welcome. “Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. I'm fine out here with just my plants. The kingdom doesn't know I'm here. I spend what I please with the money I make. It is no concern of mine what happens elsewhere. I'd rather be on my own than suffer any of those oddities."
Yolk nodded along. “I see. I meant no offense by asking."
“Mmm, none was taken."
Yolk doubted that somehow. “I was just saying, I wouldn't be able to stand it. I couldn't during the early days of my adventuring. Those long nights in camp with just the crackle of my fire for conversation. It was very lonely. I missed my family desperately."
“Why are you telling me this?"
“Well…" Yolk flicked the last bit of crushed tree nut off his thumb. “There hasn't been many to talk to about it, certainly not the men I have in my carriage. Those fellows are mostly good for spouting death threats and hearing about terrible things being done to my loved ones."
“Well, you're the one putting yourself in their company."
“True, but I'd much rather be in yours."
Yolk could tell that got to him. Mabi took a deep breath through his nose. “You flatter me," he said in a not-kind manner.
“Aye, and I mean it. Do you ever think about leaving this place? Just to do anything else? There's a whole world to see out there. Someone as old as yourself shouldn't be holed up for so long, regardless of how well you tolerate the isolation."
“I see enough about the world in my books, thank you."
“But those stay the same. The world is changing every second you and I breathe. Seeing it in person is not the same as seeing a drawing in a book."
“Why are you telling me all of this? I've made my opinion clear. I'm not leaving this place and it vexes me as to why you think you can convince me to do so."
Yolk looked down from the naga, out towards the garden, appearing somber. “Forgive me. I only seek to help us both."
“Help yourself." It dawned on Mabi how harsh he may have sounded. “Forgive me as well. You meant no harm."
“No, but created it all the same. I meant to ask you something, but now I know it's inappropriate."
Mabi sighed. “Well, you've brought it up. You might as well ask."
“Right…" Yolk coughed into his fist. “I was wondering… Perhaps… I don't know…"
“Ask it. Stop dawdling."
“I was wondering if you wanted to join me on my adventures."
Mabi did not respond immediately. He wasn't sure if he quite expected such a question or not, or how to feel about it. Should he be flattered or offended? He'd made it clear about what he'd thought about leaving, but at the same time Yolk knew that it might not have been right to ask. He stayed quiet, expressing nothing in the way of either possible reaction.
Yolk continued. “I can protect you wherever you go. We can sell your enchantments to anyone who needs them. I know so many men who would quite literally kill to have their armor and weapons enchanted to the level you can. You'd meet so many people. You wouldn't have to be alone anymore. I wouldn't have to be alone anymore."
Mabi's face twisted into a sneer. “I already said I'm not lonely and that I'll have no business with the likes of yours."
“You don't have to be a part of that business. We can just go out in search of people who need us. I can assure you, there are a great many."
Mabi scoffed. “I deal with enough people as it is and make enough money. Besides, what happened to your dreams of adventure?"
“All of that could be an adventure. It doesn't have to be dangerous. We can just wander the realm, see where life takes us, make a living-"
Mabi halted him with a curt lift of his hand. “Ah-ah. I've heard enough." He crossed his arms. “You've overstayed your welcome, adventurer. I've performed the service you paid for. You can leave now."
His words fell on Yolk like a warhammer. He bowed his head. “I understand. My apologies."
“None needed. Just gather your things and go."
Yolk stood up and wrapped up his armor. He picked the bundle up and marched back to Mabi's house, the naga following him closely, trying his best not to look at Yolk's ass and explosive backsack. Inside the house Yolk opened the front door. He stopped for a moment, looking back at Mabi who stood behind his counter.
“I hope to see you again," Yolk told him.
Mabi felt so much of the same that it hurt. “Goodbye, Yolk."
The pain on Yolk's face was clear. “Goodbye, Mabi." Then he walked out the door and closed it.
Mabi stayed where he was for a few moments. He then darted out from behind the counter and slid to the window. He watched the mostly-naked monkey waltz to his carriage at the end of the path leading from his house. It was large with two feral horses strapped to it. Piled inside of the caged bed were five criminals, cuffed behind their backs and sitting on benches. Mabi could hear them shouting abuse at Yolk as he climbed the carriage and gave the reins a flick. The horses snorted and began to trot forward until Mabi couldn't see them anymore.
Then Mabi turned from the window and slithered towards the backdoor silently. His plants were waiting on him.
***
An entire year had passed. Mabi's patronage remained thin. His harvest was plentiful and kept him fed, but then the garden was barren. He was left to read his books, the majority of which he had already read through several times over. Yolk's presence in his mind was nothing occasional. Their dialogue during his second visit was replayed on a daily basis. He wondered what the monkey was doing. Was he safe? Did he still appreciate those enchantments? Did he ever think about Mabi? Those were childish questions to linger on, or so Mabi felt. He failed to tell him that he too wanted to see the adventurer again. It was unlikely that he'd ever visit, even if he ever happened to venture into that part of the realm again.
Yolk didn't for a whole year, partly out of necessity, but mostly out of intentional avoidance. Mabi would've found peace in knowing how much Yolk thought about him. He recalled their second meeting with equal regularity, dwelling on what he said, what he shouldn't have said, and what he should've said instead. That was all in the past, he kept telling himself. Nothing he could do to fix it. That helped him little. Every pass through that part of the realm was a test of his restraint. Hundreds of battles fought, dozens of men killed and captured, and the greatest weight on his conscience was the naga he had met only twice in his life.
Alas, he finally broke. His third journey into that territory had him carting down that wooded trail. His cart was empty of any bounties. He had only the horses drawing him down the road for company, and they did not hurl any insults at him. A man would've been wise to curb his tongue in the presence of Yolk. He had become a leviathan of muscle, harboring arms as thick as legs and legs like tree trunks. Every yard of his skin was wrapped tightly around steely sinew and tendons. The reins looked tiny in his hands. A year of adventuring had turned him into one of the heroes that he once admired and envied. The great Altniss would have seen him and been impressed.
But that was not because of his muscle, but rather the giant cock and balls that hung from the bottom of his loincloth. The cup plate was gone, there being nothing practical that could've hid his pole reliably or comfortably. It was broad as his arm had been when he was a novice adventurer. Covered in gray skin that matched the fur on his belly and face, it was run through by a series of veins like cracks in a facade. The foreskin bowed around the rim of his glans, something that was as big as his fist. Kept hidden behind the loincloth was his man purse, something appropriate in size when compared to his cock. Covered in blue fur, it bowed around the oppressive swell of his nuts, now the size of ostrich eggs. Enviable as it all might have been, he was worried that it would frighten Mabi.
At last he saw the road open into Mabi's lot. He pulled on the reins and drew the carriage to a stop. “Whoooa." He looked through the trees. The house had not changed at all. He could still see the flank of the garden in the backyard, once again sprouting its next harvest. Mabi still lived there. That was good.
Yolk slid off the carriage, landing on his feet in the dirt with a heavy whump. He wore no armor this time, coming towards the house in only his loincloth. As he approached he kept his eyes on the window, seeing if there would be any movement. He saw none. He was at the front door. His shoulders filled the doorway, yet he felt incredibly small. Mustering the willpower to knock was proving troublesome.
Luckily, it was opened for him. He jumped at the sudden swing. There was Mabi standing in front of him, wearing a plain maroon cloak. He said nothing, leaving a heavy silence between them.
Yolk was the one who broke it. “Hello. It's been a long time."
Mabi said nothing. He simply stared at the giant monkey.
“Ah, sorry for showing up looking like this. I only carry my armor and this. I didn't want you to think I was coming over to purchase anything, because that's not why I came."
Again, he was met with silence.
“I suppose I came to apologize for my behavior a year ago. I know I apologized already, but I feel I did not do so in a proper or fulfilling manner. I was around the territory, and once again I thought it pertinent to come visit."
More silence.
“Ah, all I want to say is that I've been thinking about our last meeting and couldn't let myself leave things on such a sour note. You saved my life. I couldn't just have you think of me in a sour manner, though I don't know how much this makes things better, if at all. Ah, I probably should've-"
“Yolk."
Yolk blinked. “Aye?"
“It's alright. I forgive you."
“Oh. You do?"
“Yes. I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it."
“Ah, right. Um…" Now what? “I guess I'm glad to hear that."
Once again Mabi said nothing, but was not without action. He slithered through the doorway, towards Yolk, and then hugged him. “You have no idea how badly I've needed to see you, Yolk."
It was like getting hit by a locomotive. Sensations Yolk weren't used to blossomed in his chest and made his fur bristle. It was clear that he had not been hugged in far too long a time. He patted Mabi's back. “And I you."
Mabi came off him. “I see you've grown again. Goodness, I figured you would, but nothing quite like this. I said you were a champion last time I saw you. Now you're a demigod."
He chortled. “Well, I've been very busy. I've gotten better and better at subduing criminals and making bounties. That's done quite a number on my physique as well as my… well, I think you know."
Mabi smiled bashfully. “I do, though how you've acquired that remains a mystery. I think I'd like to know this time. But first, please come in and make yourself at home."
Mabi slid back inside. Yolk followed, having to angle his shoulders to the side in order to fit through the doorway. “Everything looks the same. Just like I remember it."
Mabi looked over his shoulder at him. “Were you expecting anything different?"
“No. Just being nostalgic."
“I see." Mabi swerved around to face him. “Well, now that you've apologized and been forgiven, what else can I do for you? Perhaps we can have another revealing chat by the tree outside? Maybe I can enchant more of your gear, though if you're using the same armor I worked with last time I'm afraid I've done all I can with it."
“Ah, well, I'm afraid I don't use that set anymore on account of it being far too small for me."
“Yes, I can see that." Mabi's eyes tracked down to the bottom of Yolk's loincloth where he could see the head of his penis. “I can see other things too."
Yolk laughed awkwardly. “Sorry. There aren't many garments I own that can cover all of that."
“Oh, I don't mind. I don't mind at all. So tell me, how did you become such a… virile beast? Magic? Did a succubus take a liking to you?"
“Ah, not quite." He grabbed his loincloth and pulled it up, flashing Mabi with his pendulous pecker and the giant double-speed bag just behind it. Now Mabi could see the many tattoos that covered it. There were several patterns that came in rings around the shaft. It started from the root and carried all the way down to the foreskin. “I said I don't have any weapons, because this is it. I use a combination of magic and strength to subdue my opponents. When they are down I can devour them with my cock and hold them in my purse. Those not worth anything I absorb, building both my body and my cock. These runes ensure that anyone I capture does not drown in my cum." He let the loincloth fall.
Mabi's face was on fire. He could feel his own cock, meager by comparison, stirring inside his cloaca. “I see. That's… certainly interesting. And how did you find out you could do all of that?"
“Well, I encountered someone who could on my adventures. He trained me."
“Alright. Sounds like you owe this fellow the credit of your success more than you do me."
Yolk scratched his head. “Well, I don't know about that. I wouldn't have met him if I hadn't met you."
“You still feel you owe me something." It was a statement, not a question.
“Aye. I'm not sure what I can repay you, if anything."
Mabi nodded thoughtfully. “I think there's something you can do."
Yolk's eyes lit up. “Is there?"
Mabi nodded. “There is."
“Well then tell me. I don't care whatever it may be. I can do it. Say the word."
Mabi didn't hesitate. “Take me with you, on your adventures."
Yolk blinked. “Really?"
“Yes, really." Mabi's eyes fell shamefully. “Since you left last time I couldn't shake your words out of my head. I have been forced to conclude that yes, I am lonely out here. It's something that I've ignored ever since I've lived here. I had convinced myself that my craft, my garden, and the odd visitor was all I needed in life. It wasn't until you showed up and challenged that notion that I started to realize that I may have been wrong." He looked back up at Yolk. “In a way, I have to thank you. I probably never would have realized that without your help."
“Oh, well I'm very happy to hear that, but why have you stayed here? You could've gone out on your own."
Mabi shook his head. “It's been too long. I'm not fit for the outside world, at least not on my lonesome. I need a big, strapping hero to carry me along and show me the way, my own Altniss."
Yolk perked up at his favorite hero's name. Being compared to Altniss was one of every adventurer's goalposts. Coming from someone he had a deep crush on, it meant a tremendous amount. He smiled, heroic stoicism be damned. “Of course. I can do that."
Mabi smiled too. “Good. Does that mean we will be together? I mean… we'll work together?" He blushed, embarrassed by his small slip.
Yolk nodded. “We can, in both senses as well as literal." He grabbed his loincloth and held it up again. “My cock can fuse with your body. You'll be my permanent sleeve, acting as a receptacle for my cum. It can be undone at any time, but I assure you that you'll never want to. I'll act as your bodyguard. I'll protect you wherever you go. We'll sell our combined abilities wherever they are needed. I'll show you the world."
Mabi's eyes broadened with each sentence Yolk spoke. Any and all absurdity of what he was saying went unregistered, it all sounded so magical. At once Mabi began nodding. “Yes. That sounds wonderful."
Yolk didn't believe him. “You mean that? You'll do it?"
“Yes. I will. I want nothing more."
Yolk grinned broadly. “Wonderful." He came up to Mabi, and the two men hugged each other tightly.
When they let go Mabi asked a question. “Alright, so… How does this work?"
“It's simple, really." Yolk untied the loincloth and let it fall to the floor in front of his feet. The sight of his sprawling nudity made Mabi shiver. “You'll show me your tailhole and I'll penetrate it. From there our bodies will meld and lock together."
“Ah, OK. Sounds easy. Umm… So do I… Get naked?"
Yolk nodded patiently. “That would make things easier, yes."
“Right. Let me do that, then." It was like his face was in an oven. “Alright. Here I go." He was dreadfully aware of Yolk's eyes locked on him as he grabbed the collar of his robes and began pulling them up and over his head. There was a brush of air against his cloaca once it was unveiled. It sat just below his hips, a vertical pink line in the center of a belly scale. His hips were wide and bloated, slimming into what would have been a luscious pair of thighs but were instead one long tunnel of snake. His trunk was lean and soft, something that had remained unseen beneath the loose robes which he let fall to the floor.
He gave Yolk a nervous smile while his arms were pasted to his side, fighting the urge to cover his pursed slit. “Well, here I am."
Yolk drank his figure like a glass of water. “There you are indeed." He held the hilt of his penis. “Do you think you can take this?"
Mabi's hands came up the front of his belly and fidgeted in front of his chest. “Well, I've been alone here for a very long time, you know. It's not like I lack tools for my urges. Trust me, I can handle yours."
Yolk's brow lifted out of surprise, though he quickly figured that it made sense. “Well, alright then. Should I get myself hard now, or do you want the honors?"
“Why, I'm insulted you asked~" Mabi slithered towards him, his modesty melting under the rising glow of arousal. He came to stop in front of the monkey, laid his hands on his pecs, then brought his face in for a kiss.
Their lips locked gently then made soft smacking sounds as they made out. Mabi explored Yolk's trunk, leaving none of those dense muscle facets untouched. Yolk's lips were so heavy and rough. Coating them was a thin and scratchy layer of gray face fur. When Yolk kissed he was as gentle as a feather, letting Mabi set the tempo for their smooches. Yolk's hands did not remain idly at his sides. They met the feminine swell of his hips then the smooth flank of his trunk. He held Mabi's back, then came down to give those scale-encased glutes a hearty squeeze.
Mabi murred into his mouth. He performed his own little adventure to Yolk's backside. There he gave his glutes a nice honk before one hand migrated to the front. Yolk's cock was enormous, nearly too big for Mabi to close his hand around. The skin was thick and smooth, running over an elaborate road map of dense filaments and hearty cock veins. He could feel Yolk's pulse, steady and insistent, working hard to get him erect. Gradually it began to arc its way out in front of him like a clock hand swinging towards 9 o'clock. Mabi had to move to the side to give it room.
It reached full staff finally, achieving a length that outdid even what Mabi thought it would become. He had to break the kiss so that he could gawk at it better. Rubbing his hand down the underside from head to hilt took some serious time. It was pleasantly warm and threateningly hard. Mabi knew he could take it, but it would be a challenge, for certain.
Yolk liked how he looked at it. It was difficult not to feel a little proud. “Still think you can manage?" he asked.
“Yes, I should. I've never seen a cock on a man quite like this. Just looking at it makes me thrill. Goodness."
“I can tell. Your excitement is showing."
Mabi looked down and saw the tip of his penis sprouting through his cloaca. It was perfectly conical and perfectly pink. Glistening with his body moisture, it had not yet hardened all the way. Having it so close to Yolk's monumental phallus made him feel enjoyably small and vulnerable. “Ah, I can't contain myself. A hero such as yourself brings out the best in me, it seems."
Yolk rubbed his own cock. “And you for me."
They resumed making out, giving Mabi's cock time to rise the rest of the way from his slit. While nothing quite as barbaric as Yolk's, it was nothing to sniff at. It sat out from him with a slight bend that pointed the tip towards the ceiling. Its rosaline color sat in great contrast to the granite pillar just beneath it. A glassy bead of precum drooled from his slit and plopped onto the floor below. Their lips parted with a dreamy mwah from them both. Mabi felt like he was flying. He looked at Yolk.
“Are you ready?" Yolk asked.
“Yes," sighed Mabi. “Make me your cock sleeve. Please."
“Alright." Yolk grabbed Mabi's hips and gently guided him back in front of him. Their dicks were level with one another, staring each other down, it looked like. Yolk grabbed his and guided it along the topside of Mabi's shaft, eventually landing the tip on Mabi's cloaca. A great buzz rolled through Mabi's flesh. He could feel himself shaking from his head down to the tip of his tail. Adrenaline coursed through his veins, centering around that sweet area where Yolk kept his cock helmet pressed against him.
“Ahh…" sighed Mabi.
Yolk came to a stop and looked at him. “Are you alright?"
Mabi gulped and nodded. “Yes. Keep going. Please."
“Alright." Yolk obeyed, pushing his dick further until he the slit began to gape around him. Mabi's cock retracted into him along with Yolk's inexorable push.
Mabi's trembling intensified. He grabbed Yolk's shoulders to hold himself upright. “Ohh… it feels… It feels good~" he moaned.
Yolk let out a long sigh. Mabi's slit gripped him mercilessly. “Ahhh, it does for me too. You're so tight…"
Mabi laughed nervously. “Thank you… Mmm…" He rubbed his hand down his belly and then over his pelvis. A fat brick of dense flesh was creeping up towards his belly. Even through the layer of scale and flesh he could feel the outline of Yolk's cock helmet. His innards stretched and slid around it, their flesh molding and locking together to become whole. It felt wonderful. Just watching Yolk's cock slide into him filled Mabi with joy. “Yes… Ohhhh… Yes~"
Yolk controlled his breathing. He would have to retain his orgasm until the moment Mabi was all the way down his shaft. There was a lot more of it left to go, and every inch Mabi slid down was an added level of pleasure. He bit his sneering lip. “Ahhh, almost there. How are you faring?"
Mabi's head was swooned to the side. His face contorted. He drifted his hands up his body and palmed his chest. “Ohhhhhhh, Yolk~ Huhhhhh…"
Yolk chuckled. “Glad you're enjoying it."
Enjoy it they did, all the way to the point when Mabi's slit coddled the hilt of Yolk's cock. The penetration had been complete. A long bulge rose out of Mabi's belly, settling just beneath his ribcage. He moaned and squirmed immodestly, unable to control himself or ward off the heavenly feeling that had so thoroughly laid claim to his insides.
“Huhhh! Huhhh! Yolk! Ohhhh… So big… Ohhhhh…"
Yolk patted Mabi's tummy bulge. “It is, isn't it? There's only one more step, and we'll be done."
Yolk managed to look at him. His eyes were barely in focus. The ecstasy was intoxicating. “Are you… Are you gonna cum inside me?" He felt his cheeks get hotter just from saying that.
Yolk nodded. “I am."
Mabi's head swooned. “Ohhhh… Do it. Cum inside me… Huhhhh… I wanna be your cock sleeve…"
“So do I." Yolk grabbed hold of Mabi's hips. He started fucking the naga rapidly, smacking his hips and balls on that scaly underbelly.
Mabi wailed loudly, his delight spiking rapidly towards an orgasm. “HuuuuhhhhhH! Oh God! Ohhhhhhh, yes~! Yes! Fuck meeeeee! Ohhhhhhhh!"
Yolk grunted through his nose. Mabi's tightness proved difficult to work with, but felt too good to slow the monkey down. His buttocks clenched and unclenched, powering each thrust. His balls would swing out from between his thighs and then crash into Mabi with a loud smack!
Mabi felt every inch of him keenly. He careened towards an orgasm that sent his serpentine body into a violent quake from top to torso. His cloaca clamped on Yolk's cock, milking it for the liquid love Mabi wanted so badly.
He more than got it. “Hhnnnnnnggghhhhh~~~!!!" Yolk threw his hips in one, final slam that had his balls pasted to Mabi's underbelly. Spewing from his cock in a series of violent spurts were his cum ropes, all of it winding through Mabi's insides and landing in his tummy. It filled in a matter of seconds, quickly bowing Mabi's abdomen into a churning cum-gut. It grew and grew, filling out the space between him and Yolk whose orgasm did not stop until Mabi had inflated into something grotesque. He wasn't even aware of it as it happened. The icy joy rippling across his muscles and making him wail like a woman was too distracting.
The last burst pumped out of Yolk, finalizing their polymerization. Inside Mabi was a reservoir of seed, perfect for both breeding as well as catalyzing the process of turning him into a proper cock warmer, not that he wasn't resembling one already. The two men held each other in their arms, panting heavily.
Mabi's mouth, fallen into an O, managed to form a smile and let out a cute laugh. “Ohhhh, Yolk. Hah… That was incredible~"
Sweat came down Yolk's fur. “Ahhhh… I'm glad you think so. I did too. Wow." He looked down at where their flesh had conjoined. Not a drop of cum bled out of Mabi's slit, the seal was so tight. That was good. The more that was left inside meant the quicker the process would sort itself out. Now all they had to do was stay together and let the magic of Yolk's cum do the work. He patted Mabi's belly, now looking like he was harboring octuplets. “You filled out nicely! You weren't lying when you said you could take me."
Mabi grimaced once he realized how bad his gut had gotten. “Yes, but I still didn't anticipate this much. Good heavens. Is all this necessary?"
“If you want to be my sleeve, yes."
Mabi rolled his eyes. “Of course it is. Oh well, I kind of like it. So how will we maneuver now?"
“I'll walk. I've carried weights a lot heavier than you for great distances before. Coil your body around my waist and one leg. I think there's enough of me for you to grab onto."
“I'll try." A great dragging sound echoed through the house as Mabi drew his body and tail around Yolk's torso. Mabi's body was thick and long, but he managed to draw himself into a spiral that started where he was impaled on Yolk's cock and ended with his tail draped atop Yolk's foot. He smiled at the monkey. “How's that?"
“I think that works perfectly. Let's try moving around." Yolk kicked his right leg out, the one that was covered in Mabi's tail. It lifted easily enough, though it could not come all the way up. Yolk took a step forward and started pacing the house. He was a strong man. Even Mabi's lengthy form could not slow him down. The naga bounced along with each step like a child on Yolk's shoulders. After a few minutes of back-and-forth pacing and even a few jumps he smiled at Mabi proudly. “Looks like we'll be getting around just fine."
Mabi had a woozy look on his face. His hand was on his gut. “Ooh… I don't know if I will. All this cum sloshing around inside me has me nauseous. I think I should be able to see where I'm going. I'll be able to twist myself around, right?"
“Of course. We won't be stuck looking at each other all day. You'll find yourself more flexible when the cum is done conjoining us."
“Ah, that's good to hear. For now I'll spend my time looking at your handsome face~"
“And I at yours. So!" Yolk clapped his hands and looked around the house. I suppose we should spend time deciding what and what not to pack on my carriage.
“Oh, already? I can't spend just one more night here?"
“Of course, I just mean to get an idea of what should be brought before it's time to leave."
“We can't bring everything, can we?"
Yolk shook his head sadly. “I'm afraid not. My carriage is limited. What will you do with the rest of it and the house?"
Mabi shrugged. “I really don't care. I've only lived here a decade. I'm not as attached to it as I may seem. Some poor vagrant may stumble onto it and make it their own. What they do with it from there is their business."
“Funny. If I lived someplace for a decade I'd be rather fond of it."
“Yolk, I'm 91 years old. I've had many decades before and even more ahead of me."
“Aye, and we'll spend it all together."
Mabi smiled. “Good."
Then they shared a kiss.
***
The two of them spent a fortnite getting all of their affairs in order. Mabi was happy with just taking his books, his clothes, and his enchanting table, the only things truly mandatory for the life ahead of him. Yolk hoisted it into the back of his carriage and bundled everything else in a few trunks. A trip into town was spent selling off his furniture and valuables. Quite a few folk blanched at the sight of their conjoined bodies, mainly because of the lewd manner in which it had been performed. They ran into Litch who was still alive and on his one foot. He congratulated Yolk on his success and their conjoining.
“I sent you to the right place, didn't I?" he had asked Yolk.
“You certainly did," Yolk told him.
In the meantime, Mabi's maneuverability around Yolk's body was getting better. His snake body began to thin out around Yolk's body from disuse. The muscles hardened and were locked in place. Mabi could twist himself 180 degrees in both directions around Yolk's staff, either looking ahead or at the monkey whose erection never waned. The cum in Mabi's belly had been absorbed, bringing him back to his lissom frame. That would change everything Yolk felt like masturbating, the results of which would always refill Mabi's stomach, sometimes to the point of having it overflow out of his mouth with a rude belch.
At last everything was in order. Mabi's house was empty, Yolk's carriage full. The iron cage once made for transporting bounties had been replaced by a more pleasant hood made out of canvas. Yolk climbed the driver's seat, his partner holding onto him like an infant gorilla on his mother's chest. Behind Yolk was a chaotically piled mountain of clothes, books, armor, trunks, and jarred vegetables, held together by a tenuous set of hemp ropes.
Yolk grabbed the reins. He looked at his lover. “Are you ready?"
Mabi wasn't certain, but looking into Yolk's fiercely vibrant eyes made him feel like anything was possible. He nodded. “Ready."
“Alright." Yolk pecked his lips. “Let's go."
He whipped the reins, putting a start to his and Mabi's great adventure together, Mabi's very first. Out in that realm they discovered a thriving demand for enchanted weapons and gear. Word of a naga wrapped around a blue monkey's cock spread fast. Finding the two of them and paying for their services became a sort of rite of passage for heroes everywhere. Mabi was truly a talented enchanter, Mabi a most intimidating bodyguard. They went wherever the roads took them, wandering into places not even the experienced Yolk had been. It was a magnificent experience for Mabi. In his tenth decade he had still not seen so many landscapes and cities, their topography and population more varied than anything the naga could've imagined. Yolk was with him the entire time, sharing his memories and making them more special.
Almost two years into their shared ventures found them on a road made leafy by the deep of autumn. A long dirt road split down its middle by a spine of untrampled grass was flanked by a forest of trees bleeding their green for a more glowing red and orange. Carpeting the ground were their clothes, now half-shed for the coming winter. The leaves crunched beneath the carriage wheels, now piloted by Mabi who was leaning over the driver's seat. Yolk was behind him, lying in the cabin, taking a nap beneath a wool blanket. His body bounced and jostled along with the road's many bumps and dips. In the past two years he had grown even bigger than when he left Mabi's old home. He had shoulders wider than marble columns and biceps the size of small boulders. His skin was hugged to his musculature tightly, displaying every sharp bend and curve. His scrotum was just as explosive, sitting on the floor of the carriage bed like a sack of wheat. The balls inside of them were like cannonballs. All of it was thanks to the many bandits they had encountered. None of them went undevoured.
Mabi kept the pace slow and avoided as many obstacles as he could. He didn't want to wake up his lover whose cock had remained buried inside of him ever since it first slid inside. He cracked the reins every so often, just to make sure the horses maintained their speed. They snorted every so often, their cloudy white tails flicking behind them to ward off the flies. Their names were Karma and Jezzinine, both of them being mare drafts. Mabi liked to talk to them sometimes while Yolk was asleep, if quietly so as not to wake him. Did they understand a single word? No, but they could at leas-
Kra-KOW!
The carriage was jerked to an abrupt stop. Mabi's torso was jerked forward, nearly off the driver's seat. The horses reared and then whinnied, their nostrils flared, lips loose, forelegs kicking. Mabi flailed at the reins. Terrified desperation made his teeth clench. The horses' hooves hit the dirt. They tried to run, but were held back by the sharp snap of their leather hitching. The carriage jerked forward, but would go no further. The horses screamed and tried charging, their panic as rabid as Mabi's.
Yolk was ripped from his sleep violently. He had been on his side, facing the frontside of the carriage, draped by a wool blanket, when the entire world felt like it had been pulled out from underneath him. He hit his face on the canvas which was closed around his cock and Mabi's body like two curtains. His eyes were wide, darting about the inside of the carriage. “What happened?"
Mabi did not answer. A voice ripped through the atmosphere, out of the forest on their right.
“Don't move!"
Sprinting from behind a tree and to the middle of the road was a pig. Broad and stocky, he wore a simple leather tunic with a hood pulled over his head. Mabi saw his brutish face, snarled with fury, one eye uncovered by the black-and-purple hair that fell off his scalp in a storm of dreads. From his jaws rose a pair of sharp tusks, their white enamel looped with rings of silver. His teeth were all gold-capped and a fat ring of silver hung from his septum. In his chunky pink hands was a crossbow, aimed right at Mabi's chest.
“Hands up, snake. Now." His voice was deep and gruff. It conveyed no hesitation to kill.
Mabi threw his hands into the air. He was still gripping the reins and accidentally pulled on the horses who went into another fit of hysterics.
“Drop the reins," growled the boar.
Mabi opened his hands, letting the leather reins plop into the seat. “Please! Don't kill me!"
“I won't if you do everything I say, naga. You're gonna give me everything that's in your carriage or else you're getting a bolt in the heart. Don't you test me. One slip of my finger and you're fucking dead."
Mabi trembled. Yolk could feel it through his cock. He was still hidden behind the closed canvas, listening closely. He didn't dare move, not while the bandit apparently had a weapon trained on Mabi. He slid the blanket down his body and listened closely. Come on, Mabi. We've trained for this.
Mabi gulped. “What have you done to my cart?"
The bandit nodded at the ground. “Tripwire. Jerked it taut right in front of your rear wheels. You ain't going anywhere, so don't try it."
“I won't, I won't." Mabi darted his eyes around. “Where are your accomplices?"
“Don't you worry about that. You just keep your eyes on me and don't do a goddamn thing."
“Alright! Alright! Please, you can lower your weapon. I don't have any on my person or on this carriage."
The bandit shook his head. “Sorry, can't take your word on that one." He jerked the crossbow to his right. “Get off. Now. Keep your hands in the air where I can see 'em. One wrong move and it's night night."
Oh no. “Ah, I don't know if I can."
The bandit scowled. “I'm sorry? What the fuck do you mean you don't know if you can? Just get off the fucking carriage."
“I mean I probably can't! I…" What am I supposed to say? “I'm paralyzed! My body is no good. I cannot slither from the cabin."
The pig shook his head again. He took careful aim at Mabi's face. “Don't fuck with me. Get out of there now. I'll shoot you, I swear."
Mabi's heart filled with lead. His trembling turned into a vibration. “I…"
There was a tap on his back.
Then, just like that, his trembling stopped. His terrified expression softened and his breathing became neutral. With one gulp he seemed back to normal. “OK. I'm coming out. Don't shoot."
The pig grinned. “Smart man. Now make your way out nice and slowly and you won't get hurt."
“Alright," said Mabi, now fighting a smile. “Here I come."
The pig watched him slide forward, off of the driver's seat and out of the cabin. There was supposed to be a long snake body pouring out onto the ground until finally a conical tail tip would appear. There was nothing of the sort. Instead of slithering out, Mabi seemed to float forward, into the empty space in front of him. The curtains at his back fluttered open. Reaching out from the gap was a giant hand covered in armor.
The pig realized his error. Out of pure instinct he pulled the trigger on his bow. Twang! The string launched forward. The quarrel tweeted through the air, blurring into a straight line towards Mabi's chest.
Smack!
The hand shot out in front of Mabi, in the quarrel's path. It did not merely deflect it, but caught it in the dead center of its shaft. The bandit watched in horror as the arm snapped the projectile like a twig, then lengthened out to reveal a lumbering blue monkey wearing nothing but a sleeve of armor around one arm. The naga rose out of his crotch like the spout of a tea kettle. Both of them stared down at the pig with tangible malice.
It was the bandit's turn to panic. By all means, he should've ran back into the woods. A seasoned thief would've done just that. Instead his brain short circuited and commanded him to reach back into his quiver for another bolt. He drew one out and brought the butt of his crossbow to his hip so he could load it properly.
He heard a great creaking noise. He looked up and saw Yolk leaping off the carriage and landing on his feet, well ahead of the horses. The pig threw his bow down and ran. It was too late. Even with a massive naga strapped to his cock and around his torso, Yolk was blisteringly fast. He caught up to the pig in only a few strides. Mabi shoved him by his upper back, sending him to the ground with his heels in the air above his head like the tail of a scorpion. His legs thumped back down onto the leaf-strewn dirt. He spun onto his back. The hood fell from his head. Mabi was hovering over him, a ferocious glare to greet him with.
“W-wait…" Stuttered the bandit. “I can-"
Mabi silenced him with a sudden grab on his collar. The last thing the bandit saw was his jaw falling open and unhinging. Inside of it was a glistening black cavity of steamy inner mouth that launched towards the pig's head and chomped down over his head, enveloping it. His face was mushed into the floor of Mabi's jaw. Spit lathered his face and soaked his hair. He grabbed at the sides of Mabi's head and tried to pummel him. Yolk was there to grab his wrists and put a stop to that.
Mabi's cheeks bowed around the girthy cranium. They slid down to the bandit's neck until nothing remained. The bandit's pig nose had punched through the gate of Mabi's throat, a twitching, pulsing ring of soaked muscle that gripped his face like a length of tape that orbited his head. More of him disappeared along with the gradual descent of Mabi's jaws. His cheeks gaped and gaped until he could envelop the bandit's shoulders. The upper and lower portions of his skull looked tiny compared to the massive stretch the rest of his mouth had achieved.
He went down further. The pig's head was in the very center of his throat, making his way to Mabi's stomach. His arms, trapped to his sides by Yolk's grip, disappeared at the same time as his beltline. From there Yolk hoisted him and Mabi upright so that gravity could offer its assistance. Now the bandit was sliding down, his entire body being introduced to the rancid inside of Mabi's stomach.
That wasn't all he encountered. Within the tight but stretchy confines of Mabi's tummy lay the head of Yolk's cock. It poked through the bottom hole, guarding the rest of Mabi's alimentary canal. The pig met it face first, his flat nose dipping straight into Yolk's chunky cock slit. There the runes took effect, blessing the bandit with a euphoria that turned his fear into zealous arousal. He stopped resisting. His penis shot into an eager erection. The feeling of Yolk's dick tip pressing into his face was like resting on the curviest woman's bosom.
“Hmph!" grunted Yolk. His mighty cock muscles opened his dick hole, making room for the oncoming bandit's head and then consuming it. It held him tighter than anything the bandit had experienced in Mabi who was currently slurping the last of his toes and licking his lips. Yolk stood with his hands on his hips, grunting with each heave on his floor muscle that pulled the bandit deeper into his urethra. It met the girth of his shoulders like Mabi had, sucking him into a passage as constrictive as the birth canal.
His face breached his destination: Yolk's cum tanks. Inside was a soggy cavern of molten batter, reeking worse than the most powerful of orgasms. To the bandit it was the sweetest aroma. He slid directly into it, his neighbors being two testicles bigger than his head. The bulge in Mabi's abdomen flattened, transitioning to Yolk's ballsack and making it plummet to the dirt like a dropped anchor. Yolk had to bow his legs around the thief's balled-up form. His limbs thrashed and struggled within that fleshy prison, not out of protest, but to bathe himself in that thickish nectar. He shoved his face outwards, the blue skin hugging the contours of his face tightly and revealing his blissful expression.
His captors both sighed. It was a magnificent meal for the both of them. The pig's continued struggling sent ripples of pleasure through Yolk's body, making him cum. “Haaahhhh~!" His balls contracted in their purse, throwing every bit of their power into spitting a storm.
Mabi followed with his own climax, shivering and moaning at the sudden flood that filled his belly, bowing it out. Cutting him off was the sudden belch that blew from his mouth, bringing with it a fat glob of molten ivory. He closed his mouth to catch it, but couldn't in time to stop a fat slug from plopping onto the leaves below.
Yolk laughed. “Here, let me help you with that." He took Mabi's hand and twisted him around on his cock. The two men kissed, snowballing the cum into Yolk's mouth and then back into Mabi's. That metallic taste swished between each other's tongues like oil. They swallowed equal parts of it, a sickly film of bodily fluids having covered their mouths and chins by the time they parted. A thick strand of spit bridged their lips.
Their eyes opened at the same time and saw each other. “Well, that was fun, I'd say," Yolk said.
Mabi wiped his lips. “Yes, I'd say so too."
Yolk looked down at his giant sack. “And what do you think?" It was as wide as Yolk's shoulders, big enough to sit on like a beanbag. The outline of the bandit's limbs and torso were visible. Every few seconds he would resume struggling. There came a rude gurgling sound.
“Interesting. Now, won't you join us for a ride? We were almost at the next village before you interrupted us."
“I know. Isn't that rude?" joked Mabi.
Yolk shook his head. “Reprehensibly. Don't worry, friend. We'll let you out at the next stop, although it won't be pretty."
Yolk went to the trip wire that had been snapped taut in front of the rear tires of their carriage. It was tied to a tree stump and a short log that had been pulled through the gap of a double-trunked tree where it held the line taut. Yolk removed it, then came back and climbed the carriage. It was a tad difficult given his new sack, but he managed.
“Now, I think I'll resume my nap. Don't go running into anymore bandits, OK?"
Mabi rolled his eyes. “I make no promises."
Yolk kissed him. “I no you don't." Then he laid down and pulled the blanket over himself and their newest passenger, now resting between his nuts comfortably.
Mabi got comfortable in the driver's seat and whipped the reins. The horses went into a slow trot, dragging them towards their next adventure.
