Chapter Twelve: The Parting of Ways

It was January 8th, as Dustin soured in his bed trying to deal with his emotions. He mostly lay there all day, thinking about what he could have done in order to save Ronan and that was all he was doing. Colin and Elias stood at the door watching him as they tried to think of a proper way to deal with him, but they had none.

“He can’t lay down here forever, he’ll need to get up and use the bathroom eventually.” Elias said as he leaned on the doorway, Colin next to him looking at Dustin with his aura vision. He seemed more a dark blue, and just as in reading class with the curtains, dark blue meant he was sad.

“I think he can Elias; he been shaken to his core foundation; Ronan betraying him caused him to rethink everything he knows; he come out, a new changed person that can accept what Ronan did to him.” Colin said as he tried to explain to Elias what was happening with Dustin; but Elias shook his head and seemed to disagree with his lizard.

“No I don’t believe in that; the only time a person completely changes is when a Kagen regenerates and unless you’d like to spring a twist on me; Dustin will always be the caring shark he is.” Elias said as he stopped leaning against the door and walked in; Colin groaned and knew he had to follow him in to make sure he didn’t screw Dustin up further.

“Don’t worry, all we’re doing is giving him a little tough love; a simple push out of the nest and going on a little road trip.” Elias said trying to convince Colin of his plan as he kneeled down next to the saddened shark and tried to convince himself of his own plan. Dustin groaned just sensing Elias, and turned over on his side.

“And what exactly happens if he doesn’t spread his wings and fly; we are dealing with a person here not a toy of yours.” Colin argued as he tried to convince Elias of his plan. Elias shrugged it off and instead turned his attention back towards Dustin and carefully he shook the shark.

“Hey Dustin, wanna go on a trip; because we’re going to… Disney World! No wait we can’t afford that, nevermind give me another second.” Elias said as Dustin groaned again putting his head into his pillow and trying to push the comedic shark away. “No, you know where we are going; to the Rio Olympics!”

“Are you that temporally lost that you forgot; the Rio Olympics happened five hundred years ago?” Colin said with an edge as Elias cringed a bit. Dustin didn’t seem to show any sign of interest as he stayed lying down on his bed and didn’t even react to them talking any more.

“I prefer that I am not temporally found, thank you very much. No, we’re going to the Rio Olympics in 5510!” Elias said as he grabbed Colin and Dustin’s wrists. Colin tried to pull his back but Elias seemed dead set on going to the Rio Olympics.

“And you can get us back to our correct time, right?” Colin said as he didn’t want to get temporally lost and have to travel through thousands of timelines where he didn’t know who anyone was or where anyone was, or where the walls were. Elias nodded and Colin decided to just go with the shark, if anything that would get him away from school for a day or so.

“Well then, time to go forward in time.” Elias said as he focused and was engulfed in a blue ball of matter. It spread out and grabbed Dustin and Colin as it pulled them all into the time vortex. Colin couldn’t see anything, he could only here it. Bright seemed like he was concentrating and Dustin was acting as stupid as ever but all he saw was darkness for miles. And then he felt a bump, that didn’t seem good.

“What was that Elias?” Colin said as the time vortex rumbled around them, knocking them around. Colin held his breath as he was knocked around, something didn’t feel right and then they were thrown. Looking around Colin, felt he was against the ground and pushing his arms up he stood up and looked around.

“Elias, this doesn’t look like the Olympics, where is everyone?” Colin asked as he looked around but saw no one for miles. He turned and saw one aura that looked be half a mile away; turning back towards his group; Dustin at least stood up in the first time after what felt like days.

Dusting himself off Bright looked around, he held his breath and tried to remain as quiet as possible not wanting to tell Colin that he massively screwed up. He backed up and looked at Dustin, the shark was dusting himself off and it looked like since he had something new to focus on Dustin might participate.

“Elias, where are we; cause I don’t think that we are at the Olympics for some reason; anything you might want to tell me?” Colin said as he placed his hand close to the ground, the ground felt less like fresh grass and dirt and more like a hot steaming rock.

He was confused, where could they have possibly ended up that nothing felt right. Colin tried to convince himself that they were in the right year, only Bright klutzed up and teleported them near a volcano. Or worse, the ground was hot and the air seemed hot.

“Elias, did we go back to the beginning of Earth?” Colin said as he walked towards the shark and held on to his hand. The shark was rumbling and seemed frightened; he couldn’t tell what Elias was feeling. It was some sort of mixture of shock, awe and horror.

“Worse, we’re at the end of Earth.” Bright said as he explained to Colin what he was seeing. The entire ground around them was burned, charred and rock soild; there was no grass. Buildings above them and around them were either collapsed or burning. A layer of smoke covered the atmosphere and it wasn’t our sun that was in the sky.

“Where at the end?” Colin asked as he tried to figure out what that meant, he always thought the Earth would be hotter at the end, as the sun engulfed it as it turned into a super nova. “Should we have a massive ball of fire above us?”

“No you humans were always so nostalgic for Earth, I guess we Kagens were too; but you moved it with you; you always remembered your beginnings.” Elias said sounding discussed over what he was seeing. A tiny red star seemed to be the source of all the light and the heat, peaking out between the clouds periodically.

“Then where are we?” Dustin said already sounding like he had too much of this for one day. Colin and Elias said looking at him, surprised that he was talking and moving around. Dustin looked back at them bags in his eyes and a few new pimples on his face. “What am I not allow to participate as well?”

“No you’re allowed; I’m just not sure that you’ll like the answer.” Elias said as he tried to hide his face, not wanting to let out just how bad he managed to screw up. Colin looked at him and realized that this was probably worse. Elias turned around and started walking forward.

“Elias, come on; tell us, we won’t yell.” Colin said as he grabbed Dustin’s wrist and followed Elias’s aura. If it was anything, then was towards the previous aura he had seen before. Elias jumped over a rock and Colin managed to step over it as he walked forward on was he presumed was a burning path.

“Oh trust me you will yell at me, the few times I screw up before those were minuscule; compared to this one, not a single one of those don’t matter anymore, quite literally!” Elias said as he looked around. Colin did so as well and saw a few more auras but they all seemed to be dying, he knew he was at the end of the Earth but they could easily escape.

Elias started to run and that was when Dustin took over, Colin felt glad that Dustin was taking the leader stick and getting out of the house. Still he followed Dustin’s leadership until he stopped; they seemed to have cornered Elias on something, hell if he knew what it was.

“Tell us where we are and why it is so impotently terrible that we cannot know, do this or else.” Dustin said as he tried to get the answers he needed. Elias finally stopped and turned around; he had a look of shame on his face. Colin could tell that something was wrong by Elias’s aura.

“Ok, we shouldn’t have gotten here, if they moved the Earth we shouldn’t have teleported here so maybe they threw mass in the sun and kept it going; future Earth is so hard to predict.” Bright said as he shut his mouth, too ashamed to speak on why they were at the end of Earth.

“But that’s not our sun that’s a Red Dwarf, or is it Brown? But wouldn’t humanity still be able to throw mass into our sun…” Dustin said as he realized why Bright didn’t want to tell them. As he realized first he was angry but then he realized that Bright had made a mistake and it was his job to accept the screw up and instead fix it, how noble of him.

“What, I’m sorry; I don’t understand, just tell me Bright?” Colin said confused as he couldn’t see up. Bright’s aura turned brown as if to suggest to him that Bright was embarrassed or destroyed over this seeming screw up. Dustin pulled Colin up to Bright and put him right in front. “Come on can’t you tell me?”

“Ok, we’re not only at the end of the Earth; we’re at the end of the universe. The star above us is not only the sun finally in its olden years, but it’s also the last star in the universe.” Bright said as Colin had a sudden burst of anger before felling understanding. “The Earth cannibalized other stars into its own, and while over time some stars exploded and some disappeared, all the star matter left in the universe is above us.”

Dustin looked above and saw the Red Dwarf again, everything that star was; it was the entire universe; all the information all the star matter, everything in the universe that was a star existed above him. The rest of the universe was cold. He shivered thinking about that.

“Ah don’t worry, we still have another hundred or so years till she burns out; until then I’d enjoy it.”

Colin turned, it was the only aura that seemed to be still standing and it was the one he saw before. When he saw the aura again, he realized why it was familiar; it was Octavian, or perhaps a relative, a really distant relative. Still it seemed that the aura was the exact same one from a billion or so years ago, how was that possible?”

“Oh don’t worry; one should expect the presence of immortals in the end.” Octavian said as he arrived with the group. “This was the park that from your perspective we just met in; however, for me it’s has been trillions of years, and it’s all thanks to this amulet.”

Dustin took a look at the amulet and his eyes opened up as he recognized it as the amulet that gave him and Stephen his powers. This seemed to awaken the amulet and it suddenly sparked. Dustin felt better and as Colin took a look at him so did his aura, it seemed less darkened and he seemed more towards his normal color.

“How you fine this, this gave me my powers.” Dustin said as he looked at it with amazement and wonder back in his eyes. Colin and Elias looked at each other with relieved looks on their face, at least one of their problems had decided to solve itself today. They still need to survive and get back to the past.

“Oh still seems to recognize you, I found this after our adventure in the bunker; never took it off; some people died some got lost and others left behind, but all the while I kept on chugging like some sort of universal constant in the universal sea.” Octavian said as Colin noticed a sadness come to his aura, while Dustin and Elias saw his eyes and checks sink.

“Hey don’t worry only a hundred or so years you’ll be back with your friends; just keep pushing; I might be able to get you an exact time with a few calculations, and be able to tell you.” Elias said trying to cheer Octavian up.

“No, I can take this off anytime and die within forty years; I kept this on to see the death of this universe and if I am right; then this will keep me young forever even though the death and creation of a new universe, I want to see the stars be created.” Octavian said a glow in his eyes appearing as he smiled.

“Are you sure about that, it will be a long time; probably longer to wait until the Earth is created than to when it was destroyed.” Elias said sounding more like he was against such things than trying to warn him. Octavian looked at him and smiled a bit; Elias backed off.

“If you would like to help me, the date that this universe will end will be useful; you can use the observatory on top of the New York Library, built sometime around 16,056 AC.” Octavian said as he walked forward and pointed towards the mostly intact building. Perhaps since it wasn’t five hundred stories high it wouldn’t collapse on itself.

“I think that sounds like a good idea; I can check facts of this universe, see how constant in the formula throws off the history.” Elias said sneering as he found a path between the buildings. Octavian, Dustin and Colin followed him as he waited through the burnt ground and melted steel.

“You know the Kagens of the next universe might feel threatened when you transition over, you really just moving on to a different universe an energy transition as they say; you might mess up entropy or gods help you if you end up in a universe inhabited by the Riftwalkers.” Elias said sneering again as he gave out some seemingly random information, he looked up at the smog above him and saw the star again. The sky turned dark for a second.

“Oh my, that doesn’t look good.” Dustin said as he tried to figure out on how to explain this to Colin. Elias suddenly looked a bit more worried; looking up there were no stars in the perimeter. It was all darkness, nothing in the sky; nothing left, time for the universe to die.

“Ok this might be worse; I’d need better observations but it looks like your star is starting to blow out; like a car engine without a battery; we might have a year, a week, or a few hours.” Elias said quickening his pace; he started to breath heavier as he started a breakneck pace towards the library.

“Ok, we just need to get out of here before the universe ends, how quick can your time travel recharge in?” Colin asked as he sensed Elias nervousness; he figured that death by end of the universe wasn’t a really good way to go. Elias arrived at the building and kicked down the door as he ran in.

“He doesn’t like this, he doesn’t like the end of the universe; I don’t think he likes that feeling, as an immortal being.” Dustin said trying to explain Elias’s actions to Octavian. He then realized the fallacy with in his argument. “He’s a bit older than you; he’s seen universes begin and die; you’re starting on his journey.”

“I understand, I’m sad this universe ended but I know a new beautiful one will begin anew when this one ends.” Octavian said as they entered the patch of land and looked into the library. Elias was searching through rows, it seemed to be some sort of dimensionally active library and multiple rows existed in single places; appearing and disappearing as he shifted through it.

“The entrance is on the side.” Octavian said as he pointed to the stairway; Elias groaned and ran towards the door; nearly kicking it open as he walked out the main library and into the stairwell. Dustin noted that Elias seemed steamed with the future, he was acting stupid and angered.

“Well then anything we should know, any important dates; any times that we might say die; I can assume we get out because you know where in our timeline we are.” Colin said as he looked through the rows of books trying to find anything interesting. “Did you hear about a Kagen named Twilight?”

Octavian smiled as he remembered his research on the Kagens. They were a threat once and he captured them to study them and find how much of a threat they were. Bright escaped and he continued on to the immortality necklace. Colin noticed as suddenly his aura changed a bit and Dustin noticed his eye twitching.

“I think I heard Bright mention him once, you might be interested to look through my journals; the mind of a shark can only hold so many memories; I write things down and read them back to myself; however be careful don’t spoil the future for yourself.” Octavian said going back to his old smiling self; Colin and Dustin looked at each other as they tried to rationalize that; they needed to look through the dairies.

“And where would those be?” Dustin asked as he looked around knowing the anti-dimensional library would be hard to navigate around. Colin instead turned towards the observatory entrance and climbed up towards the top. He followed Elias to the top and decided to leave Dustin and Octavian to the dairy searching.

“What the hell is with you today?” Colin asked as he arrived at the top to see Elias pacing back and forth; he seemed confused and angry and he didn’t enjoy how Elias was acting. Elias turned towards him and turned his head, he wanted a different question “Do you know how long we have?”

“We might be able to get here if Dustin and you give me some of your energy, I already had a countdown to the end and I only wanted to get alone but I need to know what is in the amulet!” Elias yelled as he continued pacing back and forth; Colin walked over and placed his hand on Elias’s shoulder. He felt the confusion that Elias was dealing with.

“Have you seen it before?” Colin asked.

“Maybe, Kagens live to long; a lot of info to search through; but you know what the most damming thing of all is?” Elias asked not even giving Colin a chance to guess as he took over again. “I can still feel Twilight here, even at the end of the universe I can still feel his energy; that means I failed, I didn’t do my job!”

“So what, we forget to patrol a lot, the heads don’t care, and maybe it’s just left over energy from a battle, don’t assume make answers. If it is fresh Twilight energy and you know none of us are producing it then who could be producing it?” Colin asked as he perhaps put a few pieces of the puzzle together in his own head.

“No, it has to be in one of these books; we only have twenty minutes left; the last of this universe is collapsing, matter is ending; looking ahead you can see the collapse of the bubble.” Elias said pointing before realizing that Colin couldn’t see the orange glow about hundred or so miles off the ocean; it looked amazing, the oceans were draining into it. He still felt ashamed that Colin couldn’t see it.

Colin sat down and thought about what Elias had said, he felt somewhat glad the universe was ending. Good riddance to the old universe, a new universe would appear and then everything would start anew. Maybe this would be a universe that worked in auras. That wasn’t possible; no universe would be in auras.

He shook his head and watched as Elias started to search through books; trying to find his answer. Elias shook his head as he grabbed the book and threw it away from him as he started to search through the next book. He sighed this was getting him nowhere.

“Octavian cannot be Twilight, Octavian is a human shark; he has one heart, I felt them; I could feel the vibration difference. Had Octavian been a Kagen, I would have felt the difference in heartbeat.” Elias said to Colin as he started to throw theories and arguments at Colin hoping that one would stick to the metaphorical wall and give him an answer.

“Why can’t Octavian be Twilight, maybe’s he in hiding maybe he hid himself; he is immortal, so are other Kagens so who’s to say that he is not a Kagen?” Colin argued as he swirled around on his chair, looking at all the disappearing auras around him. This was it; they were definitely at the end of the universe.

“Twilight; wouldn’t have hidden himself, he would need to strike as soon as possible; kill me and take this world and everything I care for from me. Kagens wouldn’t survive the transition from universe to universe, but Octavian says he can.

“Maybe, I still don’t understand then where is Twilight?” Colin asked as he tried to find an answer that worked for him, he would search every possibility. He needed to find out who Twilight was and why he was here at the end of the universes of all places.

“Twilight might be on mind, maybe I’m just paranoid, and maybe instead I should focus on the important stuff; getting us back to our time.” Elias said as he sat down on a chair and started to meditate. Colin noted the way his body glowed as he seemingly started to produce more energy.

“So then what have you been up too all this time; billion or so years; you must have one cool story to tell?” Dustin asked as he walked into library’s collection of trans-dimensional books. The rows shifted around them until they reached what he assumed to be the end of the hallway. Single-colored books with labels and years appeared on them. At one point it looked like the labeling got intensive and instead he started to collect them into scientific notation.

It was then when Dustin saw his own year he realized he could learn so many things about himself, about the future; surely Octavian would know about that; but most of all he would know something of the upmost importance. Dustin grew a smile.

“What can you tell me about Ronan?” Dustin asked with a massive smile on his face. Feeling the deception mentally; Octavian pushed him away saying nothing as he instead pulled out a book and turned the pages. The book had asterisk on it along with what looked like a page number on it, it was only a year from now.

“I can’t tell you, but what I can tell you is something that you will need; something you told me, do try to remember this. You will return without a doubt; fire will burn where water spouts; a death will happen in fall, the clock with provide inspiration, light can never lead darkness; and when the gargoyles do harken, 5, 3, 6, 2, and 1.” Octavian said before closing the book, a lock placed on to its cover as if to prevent him from looking at it.

“We’ll at least we go back; as for you all I can say is good luck.” Dustin said as he looked out and saw the orange glow of the universe’s bubble collapsing on itself. It looked to be twenty minutes or so out, he hoped that they would be able to escape in time, the prophesy said so.

“So what’s causing this orange glow?” Colin said as he instead tried to get Twilight to focus on their impending doom hoping to get him pumped up and ready to try harder to save themselves. Twilight opened his eyes and looked at Colin.

“Everything is at war, and the war that kept the universe alive was the fight of Neutrinos against the edge of the universe, dark matter only wanted to become denser and the only place it gathered enough was on the edge of the universe; it tried to push in but Neutrinos held them back, but as the matter from the sun ran out and so did the neutrino’s.” Elias said smiling as he recounted to what was to him, a familiar story.

“The orange glow is the last of the neutrinos trying to react with the dark matter; but the only thing left producing neutrinos is the red dwarf above us. In twelve or so minutes when is collapses on itself, there will be one final, the most final it could ever be, one last burst of neutrinos. They will fail, and the war will have lost. Maybe the universe would have lasted a few second longer, but I guess someone figured out how to use neutrinos.” Elias said as a tear entered his eye, he liked the irony of the universe, he knew the bunker and probably a few more human settlements used neutrinos and collectively they made the universe a few seconds shorter.

“And afterwards?” Colin asked one final question as he saw Twilight tearing up.

“A massive ball of dark matter, it forms a multiversal black hole transports somewhere else and the primordial atom forms.” The shark said as suddenly an idea entered his mind, matter would be collapsed but what if it stuck on. “Twilight could take over the next universe, trap us all here to be destroyed and live his ultimate dream!”

“What?” Colin asked trying to understand why suddenly Elias witched subjects.

“I remember, Kagens can store their souls in amulets; some sort of place holder, and something tells me that stone and Octavian can survive the next universe and that is Twilight’s plan, somehow trap us here and go onto the next!”

“That’s horrible!” Colin said as he stood up, looking down suddenly a black aura appeared.

Dustin looked at Octavian and suddenly his amulet glowed as if reacting to something. Elias and Colin walked down the stairs and strangely the Kagen shark had his hand forward, it was glowing as well. Octavian yelled out and suddenly his chest became a bit wider and suddenly the wall of the library disappeared.

Books fell out of their shelfs as they became more three-dimensional. Shelfs and books were knocked around as Octavian was engulfed in a white light. The edge of the universe was behind them only a few feet behind them, looking up the sun went dark. Elias had a sudden moment of terror as he didn’t calculate the sun stopping and starting again.

Octavian grabbed Dustin and pushed him against the wall of the universe, suddenly Dustin screamed out in pain as he felt like his being was being shredded away. Dustin quickly threw him back against the floor of the library. Elias walked forward and got Dustin on his other side.

“So Twilight, a billion year-long game; I accepted less patience from you in the past; now what brings you here today.” Elias said as his brother, Twilight the Kagen Lord stood up and made a sicken smile. He appeared to be Octavian just with a bulkier chest, bluer eyes and a different horrible personality. Colin looked in terror; he couldn’t even comprehend the Kagen Lord’s aura.

“Please do give me some credit, you would have expected this from Daybreak or Dawn, but not from you stupid old brother; but now I have to kill you.” Twilight said as he stood up again and threw his hands forward.

“Sorry brother, you filled your chicken basket before it was full. You gave out your three main powers; Immortality to Octavian; Mind Reading to Stephen and Waterbending to my friend Dustin here.” Elias said as he patted Dustin on the back, he only seemed to be given minor burns from the attack.

“I’m confused what’s happening?” Dustin asked wishing to get caught up. Elias turned towards him and looked back as Twilight as if was some sort of Kagen ritual to give him more time to explain.

“Well, Twilight’s soul was in Octavian’s amulet, he gave out his powers to you and Stephen; Stephen’s powers and parts of his soul were transferred to you, that’s why you felt so bad, you couldn’t understand powers you couldn’t use. He gained Stephen’s powers again when you touched the amulet. He is my brother, he is Twilight and now at the end of the universe he has decided to come out.”

Elias put his hands forward and formed his blade. He slashed forward; and Twilight quickly intercepted with a book, deflecting the blade away. Elias tried against with his other hand but Twilight simply ducked under as if he knew. Elias crossed his hands in front of him and tried to root the problem.

Twilight yelled and realized a blast of raw energy; the blue wave knocked back Elias and knocked over a few of the book shelfs. Running his sword into the ground; imparting his own motion. Elias’s metal sword scraped against the ground, making a screaking noise against the strange floor.

“Brother you should give up.” Elias said as he took his deformed hand and reformed it back into its sword like shape. The shark ran forward preparing to jump on his brother; as he turned into a pure ball of liquid metal. Twilight simply pushed his hand up and broke through the liquid metal.

At this time the barrier of dark matter was approaching them, destroying the books of Octavian as his history and there past as well. Dustin backed up from the battle site as he saw the wall approach, slowly but surely. The heat off the wall, surely all the heat in the universe was more than intense. The orange glow was cast over the battle, Dustin made sure he had Colin as they watched the Kagens fight against the backdrop of a collapsing universe.

Elias reformed behind Twilight and instead punched forward, expanding his fist into metal as he encased his hand around the Kagen Lord and grabbed him. He held him in the air and threw him forward, knocking him against the bookshelf and near the edge.

Twilight stood up and held his hands above his head, and gathered energy. With one second passing, a series of blue blasts fired forward at Elias. This was where the creativity of the Earth Kagen came into place. Putting his hands in forward he quickly combined both into a single hand and instead started to spin them.

The blasts of energy deflected off the metal and blasts fired everywhere through the library taking down more of the bookshelves and setting some on fire; not that it would matter in a few minutes. The floor above them started to collapse as support beams were knocked down. Colin and Dustin backed up again.

“Guys, you might want to be careful beware of falling nano-materials!” Dustin said, stopping them in place as they both noticed above them the collapsing pieces of floor. Twilight smiled at Dustin and pointed his hands up; he fired energy blasts and the floor collapse. Dustin backed up again and grabbed Colin; pulling him behind the collapse.

Elias quickly turned into liquid metal and was squeezed under the pieces while Twilight formed a forcefield above him. As Elias was trapped under the materials; alive but trapped Twilight turned his attention. Smiling he looked at Dustin, and walked forward perhaps hoping to intend to regain his powers.

Dustin put his hands forward, but realized that there wasn’t much water left in the universe. However, Elias seeped up through the rock and reformed. To the surprise of Twilight, he trusted himself forward quickly forming a final liquid metal sword. Twilight gasped as the sword stabbed him, right through the stomach.

Twilight smiled as he felt the sword enter his stomach; blood rushed out and in the adrenaline rush, he turned around. Elias stabbed him again, this time through the lung. He was going for the heart; if he could get even one of his hearts then Twilight would be unable to regenerate. Still not wanting to die, Twilight pushed forward.

And then the orange glow turned red. Elias screamed out as he was shoved against the wall; books getting knocked on the ground and falling over. Colin saw as both of their aura’s started to fade. Twilight walked back from the sword, bleeding out from two places. Elias grabbed Twilight and turned him onto the bubble as well.

Dustin was shocked as he saw Elias, burnt and broken back. He could see bones and ribcages, he was bleeding out and his lungs were popped. Twilight laughed out as he simply pushed Elias off him and both stumbled, both dying. Twilight smiled to Elias as his body started to glow; the miracle of a Kagen body.

Elias backed up as he knocked back by the force of Twilight’s regeneration. Twilight smiled and laughed as he was engulfed in a yellow glow. His head and body flashed out in massive burst of yellow energy. Knocking back Dustin onto the ground, Colin was knocked over onto a bookshelf.

“Ah good what a nice body, I do love these quick regenerations sadly it seems you won’t regenerate quick enough to escape the universe good luck.” Twilight said, Dustin tried to stand up but his eyes were blinded by the flash of light. And then he vanished. As they spoke above them the sun finally burned out and in seconds the neutrinos would stop.

“Elias what’s going on!” Colin asked as he was knocked around the feeling of the universe collapsing around him. Elias; closed in his arms as if he was trying to hold something in. Colin reached out but Elias didn’t respond, Colin looked as the auras in the Kagen’s body clashed. Feeling everything, he felt his ears start to ring as all the air was sucked out of the room.

“I don’t know; I’m regenerating; I might not make sense again; not that I really ever did. But Colin you were fantastic, completely fantastic, and you know what so was I.” Elias was engulfed in a yellow light; his entire body flaming out as he attempted to heal himself and escape death. Dustin ran forward looking at Elias, knowing the universe was about to end and Elias was their best chance of return. Grabbing Colin he ran over to Elias, hoping they could make it out.

And then as they hoped for escape, they managed to put all faith in Elias. They had the simple hope that the two of them could escape, pushing them forward to go with Elias. All their eggs in one basket, no way out; the universe ending around them. They all went for Elias, and hopefully they could return without a doubt.

And then there was nothing…

And then there was everything…
