Cuisine Warfare, 1st Serving
This is a new story that popped in my head recently. I know, I know too many new stories, but you can't block inspiration, right?
Now just a small reminder, I haven't given up on any of my old stories, I am going to resume working on them when both the mood and time is right, thank you for your patience in advance.
Without further ado, hope you have a good read. Enjoy!
The lands of Alteria were once plagued by a strange and deadly disease that swept through the lands, claiming many lives of its citizens.
However, one alchemist put his both his life and career on the line to develop the cure for this disease, in the end he succeeded, but it did cost him both his career… and his life.
He was lost in a powerful explosion of healing magical energy that covered the entire world in blinding, yet soothing light, destroying the vile plague completely, but it also had a strange effect on the flora and fauna of the world.
This caused a strange mutation in both animals and plants, forcing some sort of evolution in them, some animals, fish and even plants evolved to become closer to humans, while the rest evolved to become bigger and more fierce or complex versions of their former selves.
However, the mutations in the wildlife weren't the only thing that happened. The mystical power of the explosion unknowingly to most at first, cracked the walls between the realms, forming a faint, but crossable bridge between three of the known realms. The first being the Mortal Realm, where the people of Alteria live.
The second is the Phantom Realm, this is the place where ghastly phantoms, wights, ghosts and spirits of all kinds reside.
The third is the most fearsome of all: The Nether Realm, the home of demons, ferocious monsters and horrid abominations, many alchemists and mages tried to close, at least the door to the Nether Realm, but not have yet prevailed.
But that didn't stop the people of Alteria from moving forward, after surviving the plague, the people became even more powerful than ever.
In this world, the two most prestigious professions you can find are: a Hunter, powerful individuals that risk their lives to hunt the evolved flora and fauna of the world to provide for the people. Or a Chef, ones who are able to turn the complex flesh of such beasts into exquisite dishes for the people to enjoy.
However, there are those rare few who are able to become both, in this world we call them: Cuisine Warriors.
And to honor both the brave Hunters and the intelligent Chefs, we hold a yearly tournament to find out who is the best of the best. ______________________________________
In the quite and lovely city of Lavender, a lone, young otter was walking through its streets, a duffel bag hanging from one shoulder and another smaller bag hanging from the other, he was looking around to the streets and buildings around him then to a photo showing what seemed to be a restaurant. The picture showed the front of a restaurant with the neon sign reading 'Demon's Domain' with the two capital Ds interlocked with what seemed arrow heads poking out of them diagonally.
The otter was finally at his wits end so he began asking around, what he noticed that every time he asked about the restaurant he was met with smiles and grins as he was shown the way. Guess the place does well for itself.
Once he reached the restaurant's doors he was standing in front of quite the decently sized building, although it's location was a tad bit secluded, a few meters away from all known buildings, from all sides too. And now that he got a closer look at the sign, the arrow heads on the Ds were both placed quite suggestively.
He entered as the bell above the door rang, indicating the presence of a new customer. “Excuse me, hello?" His voice was somewhat in-between deep and high-pitched in tone. He looked around the interior of the place, a long bar lined the wall with shelves lined with an assortment of drinks of varying kinds, both alcoholic and otherwise. The place looked more like a bar than a normal restaurant.
“Listen here you perverted idiot!" The otter jumped as he heard someone yelling from deeper inside the restaurant, it seemed to be coming from inside the kitchen. He slowly made his way behind the counter and peeked from behind the door.
“Are you trying the put my restaurant under or something?!" The one doing the yelling was a tan-skinned human with strange tattoos that covered his hands and almost reached his elbows. His hands were completely black with ink, but near the wrist were all zigzags, but the pattern that stood out was the long blade-shaped design, kind of like a dagger or a knife. He was wearing a full chef's uniform so the otter wasn't able to see the rest of his body.
“Really sorry boss, but you have to admit we could've gotten a good laugh out of it, some of our regulars who saw me did." The one being yelled at was a tall well-built maned wolf with a black mane and dark grey fur all over, save for the white chest and abdomen. He wore nothing but his pants and apron, guess that was what the human was yelling about.
*THWAK*
The wolf's excuse, however, only got him a spatula to the forehead. “YEOWCH!" He held his head in both hands while squatting down, trying to dull out the pain. “The hell was that for?!"
The human tapped the spatula in his open palm a few times as he spoke. “1: For that stunt you were thinking of pulling back there and 2: There is something called 'a time and place', I admit you got the place right, obviously since you work here, but you got the time all wrong."
“Yo boss, we got us a customer." Another employee called to the human, a short red panda with big hands, then pointed towards the kitchen door where the otter was hiding.
The human turned to face the otter, giving the wolf one final glare before going over to the otter. “Sorry young man, but we're closing up for the day."
“Oh no, I actually came today wondering if you're hiring?" The otter asked as he put down his bags.
The human gave the otter a once over, then a quick look at his bags. “You a Chef?"
“An ameteur one, sir, but I want to learn. My specialty so far have been seafood since I came from an oceanic region, that and my tribe made their home right by the sea." He scratched the back of his head nervously as he spoke. “Oh, my name is Makao by the way, sir." The young otter introduced himself with a small and polite bow.
“A pleasure, the names Xander Ballard, I'm the head chef of this fine establishment and these are two of my sous chefs." The human nodded to the otter and smiled as he introduced the other two. “The short fella here is Lu Wei, although we call him Louie, he's the expert on eastern cuisine, be warned though, if you value your life, do NOT try his experiments."
“Oh, come on boss. I know that my cooking might be a teeny-tiny bit spicy, but it's not something to die for." The red panda retorted, but it was all in good heart. The red panda had tied some of the fur on the back of his head in a short ponytail and was wearing a black tank top and a long waist apron above his shorts. He was also a bit on the toned side, although his build has a lighter definition than the wolf's own.
“Maybe not die for, but they'll sure die from it," Xander jested while poking the panda's nose softly, then turned to introduce the wolf, upon closer look, the wolf was a tad bit on the lanky side, despite his fit physique. “And this tall pervert is Will Valgerd. Ironically enough, he's our meat expert, he can make other dishes of course, but meat dishes are his specialty."
The wolf, Will walked up to the otter, who was considerably shorter than himself, having to hunch and lean slightly so they can be face to face, the wolf rubbing his chin while smiling softly. “Hmm… you're looking pretty tasty." This comment however only earned him another spatula to the back of the head.
*THWACK*
“YEAHAHAOUCH!!"
Xander then grabbed the straps of Will's apron and pulled him back harshly, sending him sliding on the floor until he hit the cabinets behind him, sending some pans and pots falling on the wolf, he then turned back to Makao with a bored look in his eyes. “Just ignore him, he isn't worth your time, believe me." He crossed his arms, giving his chin a brief scratch before speaking. “Would love to see how you work around the kitchen, but like I said, we're closing for the day, maybe try to come early tomorrow, we open at 8 am and close at 4 pm and at 5 pm on weekends."
“Oh, okay then. Sorry for interrupting." Makao gave a small bow before grabbing his bags and taking his leave. He stood by the door for a few seconds, giving a sigh of disappointment before he began his walk back to the inn he was staying at.
He walked some distance before he heard someone calling. “Oi Maki, wait up will ya!" Makao turned to see Louie jogging up to him.
“Uh… who's Maki?" the young otter asked with a small tilt of his head.
“That's you of course, Makao sounds a bit too strong, so it's Maki now. Nice, huh?" The red panda gave the otter his signature wide smile, then placed his hands on his hips as he spoke. “I know the boss said to come tomorrow, but…" He checked around them to make sure no one was within hearing range, then leaned towards Makao's ear. “Try and come over at 7 pm tonight, you'll then see why we're so popular, also the reason for our strange sign." Before the otter could say anything, Louie gave his cheek a small and quick lick before jumping away. “Hope to see you then!" He was already a good distance before Makao could ask him anything.
The otter stood in the middle of the street looking dumbfounded, unable to really think of anything for a few seconds, he shook his head briefly then let out a small sigh and resumed his way back to the inn. “7 pm, huh?"
______________________________________
The rest of the afternoon Makao spent unpacking his belongings, his father gave him a decent amount of travel money, but he'll need to earn his own from here on out if he wanted to avoid sleeping on the streets.
It was 7:26 the last time he checked the clock, now he was on his way to DD, the neon signs glowing with a mix of red and purple. Soft music could be heard coming from inside.
Makao felt strangely nervous when he slowly opened the door, the bell ringing softly, almost drowned by the music being played by the jukebox.
Once he was in, the place was glowing with a mix of purple and navy blue, a lot of people were already in, some eating and others waiting for their orders still.
He walked inside, until he felt a heavy hand land on his shoulder. “You must be the newbie that Louie was talking about." Makao turned to face the one talking, or at least facing their brown-furred, thick pecs, and when he looked up he saw the smiling face of a bull. “Pleasure to meet ya."
“Umm… h-how are you, m-my n-name is Makao," the young otter stuttered out, blushing like crazy as he saw the bull's body, the big bovine wasn't naked, but he might as well be, the big man in front of him was wearing nothing but a jockstrap, the pouch looking big, but it was still barely containing what promised to be quite the impressive package.
“Hey Rod, stop scaring the new hands guy." The new voice belonged to a tiger, his body had pretty much the same tanky build of the bull, the feline holding up two trays, one in each hand. “No need to send him running away on his first night…" he made to go serve up the orders in his hands, but turned to the bull one last time. “And get back to work, the boss will be pissed if you're only parading that wrecking ball there." He nodded towards Rod's heavy looking package.
When Makao was able to get a good look of the tiger, he was wearing a black and white speedo as well as a butler's cuffs and collar, making him look like a stripper of sorts. When he turned the otter saw the black bowtie near the tip of his tail.
“Yeah yeah, I hear ya Benny." The bull waved the tiger's nagging away, then turned back to Makao who was still beet red in the face. “The boss is in the kitchen, better hurry up before you're fired on your first day."
As the bull went back to work, Makao looked around, noticing that the majority of the customers are males… wait a minute… they were ALL males, not a single female in sight, not even a feminine scent around.
As he was trying to process all of this, he felt a finger tapping the top of his head, he turned around and found Xander there, arms crossed and not really pleased with the otter being there. “You. In the kitchen. Now," the human firmly commanded as he turned around and made his way there. Once they were there, Makao saw Louie and Will there, both wearing nothing but their pants and aprons and cooking away, the different smells of spices, meat juices and cooking oils wafting throughout the kitchen were almost intoxicating.
“Alright." Makao suddenly bumped into Xander as the human stopped, waking the otter up from his food trance. “What the hell are you doing here? I specifically said tomorrow morning, not tonight."
“W-well sir, um…" The young otter was wondering if telling him would put the red panda in trouble, he looked back briefly, noticing Louie smiling in their direction, as if giving him the 'OK' to tell the boss. “It was Mr. Wei sir, he said I should come by tonight."
Xander turned his sight to the red panda, who only gave a V sign with his free hand, his wide signature grin plastered on his face, before going back to his cooking. Xander's left eye gave a brief twitch of irritation before sighing, almost in defeat, then simply shrugging. “Well you caught us, this is the real appeal of our restaurant, although I'm pretty sure you noticed that we only allow male patrons at this time. In the morning, however, everyone and anyone's welcome to come in and enjoy our cuisine."
“Well I don't really mind it sir, it just caught me by surprise." Makao scratched his cheek softly as he spoke, his blush having considerably lessened. “Back at home we would mostly work on roasting or smoking fish, so you can only imagine how hot it gets in the kitchen, so some of our sous chefs tend to shed off an article of clothing or another and since we're an oceanic tribe it's pretty much a common sight, even in the village."
“Oh, so you worked in a restaurant before?" Xander asked, sounding somewhat impressed.
“Well yeah, although our place was small, we still get many customers every day, we also catch our own ingredients, fresh from the sea and land around us everyday." Makao seemed to glow as he spoke of his family's restaurant.
“Sounds pretty interesting." Then the phone in the kitchen began ringing. “Hold on a second." Xander made his way to answer it. “Hello… Ah Regi, where the heck are you… Dang, really?... Well I hope you feel better soon, just take it easy for a couple of days… Don't worry, we'll try to hold the fort down here, you just rest up, don't worry about your check, you'll get it at the usual time with everyone else, no deductions… alrighty… Bye, get better soon." Once he finished speaking to the other person on the phone, Xander let out a deep sigh.
“Um… something wrong?" Makao stepped up to the boss with a concerned expression on his face.
“That was the last member of our little cooking troupe here, but it seems he caught a nasty cold so he can't come in today, won't be able to for a few days in fact. He's also our own expert on seafood cuisine, guess we have to take that menu off the list." Xander rubbed at his face a couple of times before pinching the bridge of his nose softly, then a light bulb suddenly formed in his head. “Seafood…?" His eyes then turned to Makao who was still standing beside him, a quick scan of the otter later, then his imaginary self grabbed the pull chain of the light bulb and tugged at it, turning the bulb on.
“Um… is there something on my face, sir?" Makao was slightly uncomfortable from the stare he was getting from the human.
“You said your specialty is seafood right?"
“Yes sir, like I mentioned before, my tribe lives right beside the ocean so most of our cuisine is seafood based."
“Looks like you'll get your chance to show off after all." Xander gave the otter a couple pats on the shoulder. “Go grab yourself an apron and join the field." Just as Makao was going to do just that. “Oh wait, before you go," Xander pinched the otter's shirt slightly, giving it a couple of small tugs. “Lose the shirt, will ya."
A few minutes later, Benny, or Ben as he preferred, walked up towards the kitchen. “Got an order for roasted Glognor Tuna with a side of Basteel Shrimps for table 6!"
“Coming!" Ben was surprised to hear the new voice calling from the kitchen, soon he saw Makao coming out with a small tray holding a slightly smaller bowl of shrimps, their shell was slightly grey and shined as if it was made of metal, 7 grilled and placed hanging from the edges of the bowl, which was filled with a yellowish creamy dipping sauce.
“Hehey, newbie! Guess the boss decided to keep you around, huh?" The feline smiled widely, one of his canine fangs poking out from the top of his mouth slightly. He took in the sight of the young otter in front of him, without the shirt on and with the apron deliberately made with long straps to let it hang low and show off a bit of upper body, he was impressed with the young man's build. He clearly had a swimmer's build, go figure, yet his muscles were more sculpted and had more definition to them, that coupled with his soft, child-like smile would floor anyone, at least that's what Ben thought. 'Damn, the men here are gonna eat him whole.'
“This is my trial run actually, so I guess I better work to impress." The otter handed Ben the tray with the sides order. “The shrimps were pretty easy to prepare so I prioritized those, the tuna will be a tad bit longer though." The tiger nodded and took the order to its designated table.
While Xander was preparing an order of his own, he would steal glances at Makao who seemed to be pretty concentrated on preparing the fish, despite his speed, his movements were delicate, proving that he did indeed have a lifetime experience in handling marine cuisine. 'Damn, he might surpass Regi at this rate.' was what Xander thought to himself as he smiled and concentrated on his own work.
__________________________________________
As the customers began thinning out and leaving for the night, things finally calmed down a bit, with about an average of two or three orders at a time, most of those who remained stayed for the drinks.
Makao was watching one of the tables, a group of middle-aged men already done with their food, but Rod was there as well, letting them grope and rub over his body to their hearts' content, it was clear that the bull was actually enjoying the attention as well. “It's not exactly mandatory," Makao slightly jumped as Xander came up behind him to watch the same scene. “But some customers tend to be a bit on the gropey side, so I leave the ones of my staff that don't mind having a few hands rubbing them all over to do the waiting, so far everyone of my boys enjoys it, so I tend to switch it up every now and then."
“Yo boss!" Both Xander and Makao turned to Louie. “Got an order of Mild Flare Mapo Tofu here, for table 3."
“How about you take that one Maki?" Xander asked with crossed arms, but a soft smile on his face.
“Maki?" The otter tilted his head at the name again.
“Sorry, that darn panda's naming sense is starting to really rub off." He shook his head slightly. “But yes, you. As you can see, things have really quieted down now, Ben is over there taking an order and Rod is enjoying getting groped and pracically molested. Come on, it's also a good chance to interact with some of our regulars and show them that you're here."
Makao nodded as he grabbed the order and placed it in a tray, before exiting the kitchen and making his way to the designated table, some of the patrons greeted him with small waves, smiles and soft nods, all to which he would smile and nod back in greeting to.
He reached the table where three men sat, a tall wide-bodied orc, muscle-wise of course, with both his mane like hair and heavy beard braided with differently colored beads, a terrier with shaggy black and brown fur, most of his head fur fell on his face, covering his eyes slightly and the last one seemed to be a reptile of some sort, but his scales seemed harder and thicker than the ones Makao met back home, his mind thought saurian or drakken with short spines rubbing from the top of his head to his back and tail. “Good evening gentlemen, I hope the service and food are to your liking."
The orc chuckled softly. “Of course, we've been visiting this place for a while now, have to be honest this is the first restaurant that I know of that gives such nightly services and this staff is nothing but hot studs." He chuckled a bit louder as he said the last part.
“Don't mind this old pervert my lad… say are you new here? I've never seen you before." The terrier was the one that spoke, using one hand to lift part of his headfur off of one eye to get a better look.
“My name's Makao, sir. I come from the oceanic Ma-Kai tribe in the Himeni region."
The saurian spoke last. “That's a long ways from home, a friend of mine visits the Himeni region on occasion so I heard the stories. The region is famed for its seaside cuisine and restaurants."
“My family actually owns a restaurant there, my father is also the chief of our tribe." Makao smiled as he spoke about his restaurant and family. “I always wanted to learn about the other types of food and cuisine outside of seafood, so I decided to do some traveling. I was told that I should come to this restaurant if I needed some real experience."
“Indeed," the orc spoke as he turned towards the bar, where Xander was busy scolding Will for something, again. “Ballard over there is quite the chef, he might seem stern, strict and pretty hard to swallow at first, but he truly cares about both his staff and the people who eat his food."
Then the saurian took his turn. “Yeah, I also heard that he's the one that gets all the ingredients for the food here, fresh from the wilds, through the kitchen and onto the table. A true Cuisine Warrior."
“Wait, what?!" Makao asked in hushed surprise, not wanting to disturb the other customers that remained.
“Yeah, you must've heard of the rare few that can both hunt the wild and fierce beasts that roam the lands and cook them into out-of-this-world dishes: those are the Cuisine Warriors."
“I've heard the rumors and read the legends, but I never thought that the boss would be one." Makao was still in awe as he spoke, turning to take a better look at the boss, who seems to be done with his scolding and was currently cleaning cups from the bar. Noticing the otter's eyes on him, he simply smiled and gave a small wave.
Makao jumped slightly with a small squeak escaping his mouth as he felt one of the men firmly pat and grope his butt. “Ohohoho, look at you boy, all star struck and nervous all of a sudden. You're just too cute, too bad I can't order you for takeout." The terrier chuckled as he was done with his groping.
“Now who's the perv?" His orc friend retorted at his earlier comment, the three men chuckling at their little exchange, Makao himself couldn't help but join in and letting out a small chuckle himself.
____________________________________
Soon the last of the customers was out of the door, allowing Xander to close the door and turn the sign to closed. “Alright boys, well done today, you all did awesome."
Will wasted no time in unstrapping his apron and placing it on the table in the kitchen, shaking his head and upper body slightly like a feral, sending his sweat flying everywhere. “Damn, working the kitchen day and night might just leave one dehydrated. Phew!"
“Dude, did you really have to dry off feral-style?! Now I'm soaked in wolf sweat." Louie stated as he also began taking off his apron, but instead of just throwing it anywhere, he hanged it on the cloth rack on the far wall, near the back door. He didn't look as upset about getting showered in his friend's musk as he let on.
“That, my dear Will, was punishment for showing up half-naked on a morning shift." Xander crossed his arms as he stared disapprovingly at the wolf.
“Whaaaat? I thought it would be good for a laugh." The wolf just shrugged.
“You do realize that we open the morning shifts for the general public, right? There were kids there for crying out loud!"
Then Ben called their attention. “By the way, what happened to Regi, didn't see him in either shift."
“Oh, the call before was from him, he caught a cold so he won't be joining us for a couple of days. Lucky for us though," He placed a hand on Makao's shoulder, giving it a firm squeeze. “We got Maki here to fill in when we needed him."
“See boss, told ya he's perfect!" Louie stated with that wide grin of his.
Only to have the handle of a frying pan pressed to his snout. “Well next time, ask before you go squealing."
“I was actually wondering about this for a while," The others turned to face Makao as he spoke. “Not to jinx it here, but how come many people know about these… nightly services and you're still open?"
“That's simple my dear Maki," Xander leaned on one of the cabinets in the kitchen. “There's this inspection that takes place two times a year, which includes, freshness of ingredients inspection, type of ingredients, food safety, and in case of use of dangerous ingredients: handling supervision, and space sanitation, as long as you get the green on all of those, as well as good reviews from the people, the restaurant, bar, cafe or whatever establishment that deals in food is allowed to do whatever the heck it wants."
“I see…" Makao thought about it for a few seconds. “Then I guess the people here really love your food."
“It's not only about the food Maki," This time it was Will who spoke. “Service is also important, even if the food is good, it won't do the restuarant much good if it was served by rude and crude waiters and waitresses."
“Speaking of services, you actually handled yourself pretty well back there." Rod spoke as he stood there in the kitchen, totally in the buff. “Men were groping and hooting at you left and right, yet you never flinched."
“Although it was for different reasons, the same thing was pretty common at our family's restaurant. Most of the chefs would shed their clothes halfway through their shifts and one of the appeal points that one should look at is the body, after all it's the one thing that everyone looks at first."
“Appeal points?" The others asked in unison, then waited for the otter to answer.
“Yeah, back in my tribe and most of the region in fact, our ways of choosing mates are pretty… well… primal is one word I would use. Instead of flowers, chocolates, dating apps and such, having a healthy body is a must if you're looking to attract suitors to yourself." Makao then grabbed a nearby stool and took a seat before resuming. “Many other appeals include contribution to your tribe or that of your mate's if you decide to move, intelligence and general knowledge. But in my tribe, the appeal points include one's ability to handle the sea and it's creatures, knowledge of herbs, especially medicinal ones and the most important one of all, culinary expertise."
“Heeehh, then you must have both men and women flocking all over you." Will stated with a wide lewd smile as he nudged the otter's arm softly with his elbow.
“I wish, the one who has that is my older brother. Honestly though, the only thing that he has is the buff body, wide shoulders, thick arms, legs and neck, body brimming with muscles from top to bottom, and he emits his pheromones like he's sweating it. Other than that, he has nothing, he can't handle a frying pan, can't fish to save his life and get this: he still gets seasick the moment the boat takes to the ocean." He crossed his arms, let out a huff of frustration before pouting. “All of his faults, yet the men and women are attracted to him like bees to honey, I don't really get it."
“Someone's a little jelly, eh?" Ben nudged Rod, both chuckling at his little comment.
“Like heck I'm jealous of that pea-brained, muscle-headed, testosterone machine!" Makao's sudden outburst made everyone jump slightly. “It's just irritating that he's pulling everyone in like a magnet and leaving the men who truly deserve a mate high and dry. It's not fair, really."
“Aside from all that, you also have an experience with being admired and you're clearly not body shy either," Xander stated as he took off his own apron and hung it up.
“My father would actually tease about it, saying that I shouldn't be taking his friends away like that since most of them would show interest, but that's all in good fun, it's not like that they're serious about taking me on as a mate." The otter scratched the back of his head while chuckling softly to himself.
“You'd be surprised," Xander muttered to himself, before turning to the others, mainly to Makao. “Alright, let's take a vote, whoever's against hiring little Maki here say 'I'," hearing nothing from the others he continued. “Those who are for taking him in?"
“I!!" Everyone, including Xander called out in unison, making it a unanimous vote. Xander then placed his fists on his hips. “Looks like you're in, welcome aboard little Maki." He reached his hand out for a shake.
Makao took the hand enthusiastically. “Thank you for this opportunity, sir. I promise that I won't disappoint you or the others."
“Okay, first of all: No one here is a 'Sir', just use our normal names, you're part of the family now. Second of all: I don't want promises, all I want is for you to do your best."
“Thank you si- Xander. I hope to learn much from you and the others." The young otter smiled slightly as he spoke, this time however, a faint glow came from his body, it was only for a second, but it was enough for Xander to notice it, however he decided against mentioning it for now.
Makao suddenly found Will's hand and weight on one shoulder a wide lewd smile taking over his face. “Well I'll be sure to teach you a lot of things, my young little boy."
*WHAM!!*
This time the wolf earned a frying pan to the face, sending him flying face-first into the wall at the back of the kitchen. Xander turned to the others with a murderous look on his face, tapping the bottom of the pan in his open palm threateningly. “Anyone else have something… unnecessary to teach?" The other three shook their heads in the negative while keeping their distance from the boss. He suddenly turned to Makao who jumped slightly as he saw the human's angry face. “If anyone of them tries anything funny you come to me instantly. That or keep one of these at arm's length all the time." He instructed gesturing to the slightly dented frying pan in his hand.
The otter chuckled nervously before replying. “Y-yes boss." While deep down wondering what the hell did he get himself into.
That night, Makao went to his room in the inn and began thinking, remembering how the atmosphere of Xander's restaurant was pretty close to his family's own, although his father was known for his thunderous voice when barking out orders, but he was a good man nonetheless.
At that moment he began feeling a bit homesick. Looking at the bracelet he wore, it was made of small seashells and a shark tooth in the middle, it was more like a charm than an accessory.
He gave the tooth a small peck before turning and finally going to sleep, dreaming about the clear and beautiful oceans of home.
________________________________________
The next morning, Makao was jogging towards the restaurant, once he reached the building he stood at the door to catch his breath for a few seconds then went inside.
He found Xander, Will and Louie already there, wearing their aprons and the wolf was wearing a shirt for a change.
“Morning Xander!" the young otter called to the boss, then to the other sous chefs. “Morning Louie, Will."
“Ah punctual and on time, I like that, but next time try to come a bit earlier, we have a lot of ingredients to prepare before the actual cooking," Xander told Makao as the otter went to grab his apron.
“Sorry boss, I'll try next time." Makao strapped the apron over himself then went for the fridge. “So who does what exactly, you know, cooking wise?"
Xander turned to the otter and began explaining. “Each of us have a certain cuisine that we specialise in, like I mentioned yesterday, Louie is our expert on eastern cuisine, especially food that requires lots of spices," He then turned to Will. “Will here is our expert on meat dishes, beef, chicken, lamb or mutton, you name it and he'll cook it."
Then Louie suddenly took over. “And the boss here is an all-cuisine expert." This earned him a glare from Xander for interrupting.
“All-cuisine?" Makao tilted his head slightly while furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
“That means that he can cook any kind of cuisine to almost perfection," Will finished for the red panda who remained silent, but still had a goofy smile on his face.
“Not perfection, not even close. I can make dishes from a wide variety of cuisines though, although what I make would be weak imitations in comparison," Xander explained as he scratched the back of his head.
“Still modest as ever I see, eh boss?" They turned to the back door and found Ben and Rod at the door, fully clothed and ready to work.
“Oh shut up and get ready, we have a lot of work today," Xander scolded as he went to the doors separating the dining area from the kitchen and went for the bar.
Makao watched as the human began feeling his way on the underside of the bar, until he reached a point and applied some pressure until a deep sounding *TOCK* was heard, he then pulled the bar back, until the underside revealing a a long table of sorts, but it Xander pressed another button and the cabinet opened up and slid down into the ground, revealing an oven with five stoves on top, four normal ones and a rectangular one near the edge.
Will went to the other side and grabbed the bottom of the bar and pulled it back revealing a cutting board, Louie opened a cabinet near the oven and revealed a steam oven.
“What's all this?" Makao asked as the trio finished pretty much transforming the bar.
“Not done yet," Xander stated as Ben and Rod went to the front of the bar, opening small doors and pulling out glass windows shaped like half domes, the glass flipped up until it clicked in place, slightly covering the stove and cutting board areas, this made space for the stools to be pushed into the small storage places. “Now we're done."
“Say Maki, you ever cook in front of people before?" Louie asked as he softly clapped the otter on the shoulder.
“Yeah, some people said they liked to watch us cook, so father remodeled the place a little so that the kitchen itself was part of the dining area, we got more customers that way," the otter explained briefly.
“That's what we call in the city 'Live Cooking Shows', it's a way to entice the present customers further, heightening their anticipation while at the same time, the unhindered smells would easily waft out of the store and attract even more customers," Xander explained in turn as he began placing some cooking and prepping equipment on the table. “We do this every weekend, but only on the day shifts."
Makao nodded softly as he heard the human explaining, just as Will brought out the last cooking pot that they were going to use for the day. “Any word from Regi?" the wolf asked as he adjusted his apron and shirt a bit.
“Called him a few minutes ago, still suffering from that cold, but it sounds like he's getting better," Xander replied as he re-tied his apron, then looked around to make sure that everything was in order. “Alright, looks like we're ready for today," he said, before turning to Makao.
“Today a lot of families will be coming over, so we'll have a lot more customers than usual, most of them kids though, so we prioritize both precision and speed during this time, got it?" Makao nodded firmly as the doorbell rang indicating their first customers' arrival, and true enough it was a mother with her two kids. “Alright fellas, let's put on the best show we can for these folks." He got a confirmation from the others as they got ready for a new day's of work.
During that time, it was nothing but rush after rush of customers, children, teens, adults and elders of all species came in waves at a time, most of them mesmerised by Xander and co's live cooking, some of the kids even began drooling as they watched in awe.
Makao took brief glances at the others working around the place. Xander was being true to his position as Head Chef of the restaurant, although the otter hated to admit it, his knife handling skills easily outclassed his father's who was able to handle any knife given to him.
Will and Louie were also pretty skilled in their own cooking specialties, both handling their ingredients and tools pretty efficiently. Ben and Rod were the waiters, taking orders pretty quickly and easily calming any customer who got agitated because of a late order.
Xander was also watching Makao when he was working, letting him handle most of their seafood menu, the otter proved to be quite efficient when handling marine ingredients cleaning the fish almost perfectly and handling the other ingredients as they should be.
With the present members at the moment, they were able to serve more customers than usual, which really delighted Xander.
Once the sun began setting, the rush seemed to calm down as less people came to the restaurant, giving Xander and co time to breath and relax, especially Makao who wasn't used to such huge rushes one after another, the otter was sitting in the back room, nursing on a glass of water like it was the finest wine around.
“You did good out there," Makao turned to find Xander with his arms crossed and smiling at the otter. “Let me guess, more familiarity with your family's restaurant?"
“A little bit, although we didn't have that many customers coming in waves." Makao finished his drink and stood up. “So anything else to do?"
“At the moment not much, we're just closing temporarily so that we can prepare for tonight." Xander noticed the otter's alarmed expression and couldn't help but chuckle. “Don't worry, I did say that we only do this on the morning shifts only, didn't I?" Makao let out a huff of relief as he followed the head chef to the front and began helping the others in clearing/cleaning the tables and putting things back they way they were.
As they were working, the doorbell rang, since Makao was the closest he went to the door. “My apologies, but we're closing for now."
“Yeah I know, that's why I came at this time." The person greeted him, then let out a couple of small coughs. When Makao got a good look at the man in front of him, he found a tall equine, even through his clothes he could tell that the horse has a pretty fit and well sculpted body, his brown fur was so short that Makao actually mistook it for skin at first glance, but he noted the white diamond pattern running along the equine's snout.
“Regi, the hell you doing here?!" Xander called for the horse as he stood behind Makao. “You're in no shape to work, not for a couple more days at least."
“Don't worry about me boss, just coming over to check how everything's holding up." Then Regi's sight lowered down to the otter. “So this is the new seafood expert that I heard so much about, huh?" His lips split into a smile. “He's pretty cute." This caused Makao to blush a bright red.
“Come on now, quit teasing the poor thing," Xander pulled Makao back and pushed him to get back to work. “You're timing's pretty great though, was going to have either Ben or Rod bring some soup I made for you, since they're both your housemates." He led the horse back into the kitchen, where he was met with hugs and pats on the back, plus a couple of suggestive gropes from Will, only for the wolf to get smacked on the head by Xander's infamous pan.
Once the pot was opened, everyone could smell the mixture of spices, vegetables and chicken mixing together in almost perfect harmony. Regi let out a sigh of content after his second deep breath of that beautiful smell. “Really appreciate this boss, you really didn't have to though."
“Nonsense Regi. If a boss doesn't take care of his employees then he's not worthy, plus you and the others are my family as well, I can't just let you fight this damn cold alone, can I?" He gave the tall equine a small nudge to his arm. “You just enjoy the soup and ring us up if you want more, you hear?"
Regi nodded slowly as he took a small bowl and filled it with some of the soup, not even waiting to go back home, he took a seat in the kitchen and began taking small savouring sips, his lips splitting into a wider blissful smile with every spoonful of Xander's soup, already feeling his cold getting pushed back.
Soon the others finished their work and began prepping the ingredients for the night, after bidding Regi good night and wishes for a fast recovery. Once everything was ready, everybody changed into their 'nightly uniforms' as Will calls them, which consisted of him and the other beastmen going mostly semi-naked, except for Louie and Makao who just decided to remain shirtless, while Xander changed to his black tank top.
Ben and Rod were the waiters, so they changed into the special 'uniform' jockstraps with the restaurant's initials sewn on the front, the small window of time was filled with lewd shenanigans and innuendos.
Soon after they were ready their new customers began filing in, all of them men of ages between young adults to elders. Makao was actually happy for this shift, he noted the drastic change between this morning's rush and the night's mellow pace and the night shift's menu consisted mostly of small finger foods with the occasional main dish here and there, but nothing to heavy or strong on the stomach… maybe except for Louie's Mapo Tofu, it was clear that it was a favorite with most of the city's citizens.
As usual, some of the regulars were pretty frisky, but a silent glare or a clear of the throat from Xander calmed them down, some touching and groping was allowed, but any more than that is a bit too much… although he did allow it a few times in the past and strangely enough it brought many more customers the very next night.
The doorbell rang again as a new customer walked in, this time it was a species that Makao has only heard about and never seen before, an insectoid, humanoid insects that have greatly benefited from the magical energies of the accident of the past like almost every known species. This guy was clearly some sort of beetle, the horn indicated rhino or something similar, his carapace was dark brown in color, but from what Makao could see, it only covered his arms and upper body, but since he was clothed the otter couldn't see much more, but aside from that, most of the insectoid's fleshy insides were pretty visible.
However, Makao couldn't help but blush brightly as he saw how the beetle's clothes clung to his almost tank-like build. His pecs, puffed up and slightly pushing forward and his biceps threatened to tear the shirt's sleeves with every move, as his sight moved lower, he silently gasped as he saw the beetle's trunk-like legs hugged tightly by his track pants and finally at the bulge that looked almost melon-sized, slightly bouncing and jiggling about. The young otter had to turn away because his own pants were getting pretty snug at the moment.
“Ah, Colt, glad to see tonight," Xander called from the bar as he placed the cup he was cleaning down. “What can I help you with?"
“Not much sir. Just some mapo tofu, extra spicy and here." Colt's voice was pretty deep, quite fitting for his build, Makao thought as the rhino beetle pulled out what seemed to be a small pack of letters, handing them to Xander. “I'm sorry I couldn't deliver them earlier, the post office was already drowning in letters and paper this morning."
“Quite understandable, with the tournament getting closer and closer by the day, people are pretty eager to either join or are anxiously waiting for their reply letters." Xander walked into the kitchen with the letters in hand. “One Demon Lord Mapo Tofu Louie, you know who it's for." Then came back out to the bar. “Grab yourself a table Colt and your order will be brought out shortly."
Makao watched the beetle walking to the far rows and grabbing a table for himself, now that he was sitting, the otter finally noticed the little pudge of belly slightly pushing out the front of his shirt. His sights however, were turned to some light hollering at one of the corner tables, which were the ones that accommodated the most patrons.
His face burned brightly from a fierce blush as he found Rod the bull slightly leaning forward, back or most appropriately ass to the table and one of the patrons, a human had his face deep in his sweaty and slightly musky crack, clearly munching away at the bull's hole from the sounds coming from Rod, much to the human's friends' delighty, getting a free show with their food.
That clearly did it. “Um… per-permission for an e-early break, b-b-boss." Makao stammered as he felt that his pants became way tighter than before.
Xander chuckled at the otter's stammering and gave his permission, pretty sure that the little man's face might just explode if he stayed any longer.
Makao pretty much raced to the back/break room and closed the door, panting hard as if he ran a marathon, his whole body heating up like an oven as he took off his apron. He took a seat on one of the chairs facing the only table there, when his hands reached for his pants he contemplated whether it was okay to whip out a quick one here.
Just as he began unbuttoning his pants, the door opened, causing him to jump slightly. “Hey, you okay back there?" Makao turned slowly as he heard Will's voice, the wolf's face showing clear concern, which split into a wide lewd grin as he noticed the otter's predicament. “First time seeing someone getting his ass eaten?"
“Um… p-pretty much, yeah," the otter managed to breath out as he tried to calm his body.
Will smiled wider and stepped up to the otter, closing the door behind him, he soon was in front of Makao, their eyes met for a few seconds before the wolf knelt down to his knees in front of Makao and reached for his pants. The otter quickly covered his crotch. “I… ah, I don't think we should do this here."
“Nonsense, you saw Rod out there, the boss is okay with this stuff happening in the restaurant as they remained in the restaurant." Will gently moved Makao's hands away and began unbuttoning his pants and pulling his fly open, so far no more complaints from the otter. “That's it, let a friend help you out."
Makao nodded silently as he leaned back and let the wolf do his thing, his blush slightly subsided, but he still felt his face glowing a little. Once he was free from his pants, the wolf whistled in awe at the otter's beer can-thick 9 incher. “Pretty impressive tool you have there." He booped it with his nose and gave it a quick whiff. “You use it much?" As he asked he lowered the otter's pants slightly until his thighs were visible.
“Not really… unless jerking off counts," Makao chuckled at his own attempt at humor.
Will chuckled softly as well, then gave the young man's member a slow lick, from balls to base to tip, electing a gasp and long sigh from the otter, then slowly took half of his dick into his maw, giving it a few light sucks and licks to start things off and generally take it slow for the otter's sake, since he was sure that he didn't do this kind of thing much.
Makao was gasping and moaning with almost every lick and suck from the wolf, his whole body shaking and twitching from the stimulation, his hands instinctively moving to the wolf's head, putting some pressure as he began pushing him down the rest of his shaft. Will didn't mind at all and submitted to the otter, he liked it when his partners took control.
Soon Makao began growling and hissing, slightly bucking his hips as he moved the wolf's head back and forth along his hard and leaking shaft, slowly picking up speed until he was actually thrusting into Will's maw hard and fast. He suddenly stood up and began literally face-fucking the wolf, who only moaned and groaned almost sluttily. He didn't expect the otter to be this dominant, but he wasn't complaining as he opened his maw and throat for young Maki to use freely.
Soon Makao hissed and groaned, biting his lower lips as he pushed his entire length into Will's maw, his cock head giving a couple of twitches before he began blasting the insides of the wolf's maw and throat with his cum. Will swallowed everything the otter had to give eagerly and gleefully, he could be imagining it, but he could've sworn that Makao's body glowed just now.
A few seconds later, the otter's orgasm slowly subsided until it fully stopped, Will giving his member a few firm sucks to slurp up whatever remained in his tubes. Makao slowly pushed back and out, instantly sitting back down on the chair as his legs were pretty wobbly. Will wiped his jowls with the back of his hand, smiling contently. “Thanks for the snack little man, let me know if you need help again." He then stood up and adjusted his own pants, the otter's dominant act having gotten to him, but he can hold out for a few hours more, leaving Makao to catch his breath and collect his thoughts.

Soon the whole place became quiet, just a few stragglers here and there, Rod was sitting with one, a pretty lanky man who was blushing as he slowly ran his hands along the bull's body.
Ben and Makao were cleaning some tables, while Xander took the bar and Louie and Will the kitchen. The otter was still pretty shocked at what he saw before and what came after was pretty wild as well as Rod took things a tad bit further, giving the very same man who was feasting on his rear hole, quite the lap dance, the bull had some pretty decent moves despite his build and muscle mass. The bovine sure loved attention.
Then his mind wandered to what occurred between him and the wolf, Will had some skills of his own clearly, he wondered if the rest of the group did things like that with customers or each other, if Xander did those things… he actually couldn't picture the human doing so.
“Had fun?" The head chef's voice made the young otter jump in his place, electing an amused chuckle from Xander.
“Yeah, I-I guess…" Makao trailed off a bit, wondering if Will told him of their moment in the back room.
“Sorry if that was a bit overwhelming, but it happens every now and then and I have to admit, it actually brings in customers, even if it's just for the night shift," Xander explained briefly as he placed the glass he was cleaning back into the cabinet. “Sometimes even more than that."
“Even more than that?" Makao asked while deep down dreading the answer.
Xander smiled lewdly as he made an 'O' with one hand and used the other to see-saw a finger back and forth through the circle. The gesture made Makao's face practically explode, Xander could swear he saw steam coming out of the poor otter's ears. “You don't have to participate if it is not your thing, you know. Not like it's mandatory."
Soon the place emptied out and left Xander and co to clean up the place properly. Makao was instructed to clean out the tables and dining area with Ben, while Louie and Xander finished things up at the bar, Rod and Will were probably in the kitchen.
Makao was able to finish his sections first so he made his way to the kitchen, Louie was about to call for him, but was stopped by Xander, who shot the red panda a small wink.
The young otter took off his apron and hung it on the hanger on the far wall, now standing in kitchen shirtless and a bit stiff, he chucked it as the after effects from working both day and night shifts in perfect succession. As he reached the back room where his clothes are stored, he heard some noise coming from inside, well more like soft sounds than noise, he kind of dreaded going in as the door was clearly unlocked.
But he needed his clothes back so there was no walking around this, he turned the handle and pushed the door open, the sight in front of him was pretty much expected at the moment, but that didn't stop the blush from washing over his face.
Will bent over the table, grabbing at its edges tightly while Rod was behind him, grabbing his hips in an iron grip as he pounded the wolf's hips to either paste or dust, Makao was afraid that's what was going to happen from how hard the bull was thrusting into the yelping and moaning wolf.
Rod noticed that the door was open, turning his head to greet Makao, although he didn't break his rhythm one bit as he spoke. “Hey little man, you need something?" his hips kept clapping loudly with Will's ass cheeks even as he was concentrating on something else.
“Uhh… no-no, I was just here to get my shirt…" The poor otter trailed off as he made his way to the other side of the table and grabbed his shirt, but instead of putting it on he watched the wolf, or more likely his expression of happiness and bliss as he was fucked and rutted like a bitch in heat, eyes half-lidded and crossed slightly, tongue hanging out the side of his maw, drooling and panting like a rabid animal.
“Yeah, the little slut really enjoys this." Makao faced Rod who was still pounding away at the wolf under him. “Ever since I began working here, I knew he was a little hungry bitch the moment we laid eyes on each other, ain't that right wolfie?" he asked Will as he gave one ass cheek a pretty hard and loud smack, causing the wolf to jump slightly with an equally loud moan.
“Yes, yes!! Fuck me you big stud, make me your fucking bitch and fill me with your children! Oh yes, give me everything you have, please!!" Makao was taken aback by Will's lustful and quite shameless demands and he was almost screaming out proudly. But the sight in front of him was pretty… interesting to say the least as his pants began feeling a bit tight again.
Rod's body shined briefly as the light passed over his sweaty body, he picked up the pace as he slammed into the wolf, snorting and huffing as he was getting close. “Here it comes bitch, get ready for daddy's bull milk!" Then he suddenly mooed loudly as he slammed every inch of his 1ft+ shaft balls deep into the wolf, grinding his pelvis hard into him as he blasted Will's insides, flooding his inner tunnels with his thick cum and painting them completely white.
Makao gasped as he saw the bull showing the wolf who's on top and Will gladly submitted and received everything he was given. Halfway through, Rod pulled out and quickly pulled the wolf down to his knees, turning him around and resumed blasting him with the rest of his load, this time painting the wolf's dark fur white as he drenched his face, muzzle, chest and abs, right before slamming half his length into Will's maw, making him drink the little remainder of his load, his shaft pulsing and bulging briefly with every load shot.
Once he was done, Rod let out a heavy breath through his nostrils like an actual bull does, giving a few small humps into Will's maw before pulling back. “Phew, now that was good. Damn wolfie, you've been practicing or something?" He used his forearm to wipe the sweat from his face and forehead, unintentionally catching a whiff of his pit. “Phwoa, damn I stink. I'm jumping in the shower the minute I get home." He began collecting his clothes, putting on his jockstrap and pants, but simply hung his shirt on one shoulder and made his way to leave. “See ya tomorrow kiddo. You be good now." Then he closed the door behind him, leaving a sexually, physically and probably mentally drained Will and the stunned Makao.
The wolf began standing up, although with some effort as his legs were pretty numb at the moment, slumping down in a chair. He smiled at the otter, his face and most of his upper body still glazed with the bull's cum. “So… welcome to Demon's Domain, I guess." he chuckled softly as he tried catching his breath, not caring that some of Rod's cum was leaking out of his now gaping hole and dripping down from the chair to the floor.
Makao on the other hand simply nodded, giving the wolf a nervous, almost forced smile. “Um… thanks, I guess." Aside from that he had literally nothing to say.
