Trillia and Drey fly hard and fast. They quickly outpace the riders on horseback shooting arrows at them. Trillia made a mistake. How could she know that, woman, was no more than a trollop who decided she wanted to add a dragon to her list of conquests! She had become gravely ill when Trillia tested her. That foul woman told their village elders that they had forced her to be with the dragon and that was what caused her to be ill. Trillia roared into the sky. They would not be able to ever go back to that town and who knows the shifter maidens who would go undiscovered.
"Drey!" Blood is dripping from him and she feels her heart race. They land high up on a mountain far from anyone. She shifts immediately and runs to him realizing an arrow is sticking out of his left front paw.
“It's nothing, Trillia, really."
“Let me see it." She pulls his large paw toward her. The arrow had gone through his paw to the other side. “I'm going to have to pull it out." She looks up at him, her mouth pinched. “It's going to hurt."
“I'm not a hatchling, Trillia, do what you have to do." He looks away from her and his paw.
She shifts for a moment and bites off the arrow shaft on the feather side. She shifts back, grabs the shaft above the arrow head and pulls hard and fast. He roars as sharp pain lances through his paw.
She rubs his foreleg in sympathy and looks at the wound. “I saw a stream a short distance away, let's get this cleaned up."
They fly up and she points out the stream. They land in the water and she cleans his paw. She feels like she cannot get enough air into her lungs. If anything had happened to him... She pulls her focus back to his paw. The blood has already stopped and she can see the wound is red but closing up.
“See, it's already healing, dragons heal fast." He does not like how quiet she is. “Trillia, it's alright, it will heal." He pulls her face toward him and a few tears slide down her cheeks. “Aw Trillia, please, there's no need for tears." He pulls her toward him, against his hard chest plate. “See look, I can move my paw." He clenches it and winces.
“Stop it, you big stubborn dragon!" She takes his paw and kisses it. “I could have lost you."
“Not likely, it is pretty hard for an arrow to do real damage to a dragon." He puffs up his chest.
She gives him a dirty look.
He clamps his mouth shut. She shifts back into a dragon and they search for a cave to spend the night in.
He remembers seeing the archer aiming the arrow at her and his heart had nearly stopped. He had quickly maneuvered to protect her. It would have hit her in the back, most likely one of her wings. Being a shifter she may have been okay but he couldn't chance it and the arrow had caught in his paw as he flew behind her.
They land in front of a possible cave for the night, he holds her tight and rubs his head against her.
“Maybe we should go home, forget about all this nonsense." She quietly says.
“It isn't nonsense and you know it. We have been very successful with your system up until today. Without the work we're doing, more maidens will die unnecessarily and most dragons will never find a mate. We can't stop now." He knows his words to be true but part of him does want to turn back and go home, she would be safe at home laying his hatchlings, but he does not say that out loud.
“Well, we found three shifter maidens in the last two weeks and matched them to their mates, I think we can afford to at least take a break. We will relax tomorrow, let your paw finish healing and then we'll head out the day after."
He chuckles, "Yes, I think that is a fine idea. It would be nice to spend time relaxing with you. I don't understand what happened with that woman." He adds.
"It's my fault, I should have realized but I was feeling full of myself." She said with disgust. “We've had so many successes lately and no one has gotten sick until today." She looks at his wound again and then lets go of his paw.
He approaches the cave entrance. "Let me." He motions for her to stay back. Caves are not always empty and he does not want a frightened animal to attack her.
She huffs. "I can take care of myself, Dreyserelnik! Do you see these scales and these long talons? I can rip to shreds anything that could possibly be in that cave!"
He chuckles, "Yes I know, you are very tough. Can you soothe my ego and let me be the strong one for a moment?"
She huffs but it is hard to resist him when he approaches her that way. "Alright, you go be a big bad dragon and I'll wait out here." She shakes her head. After he disappears through the entrance, she turns her head sniffing the breeze. She flies up and over going upwind. She sees a wild boar below her. She flies down fast striking a killing blow before the wild boar knows what hit it. She picks it up with both of her front paws, talons sticking all the way through it. She drops it a good fifty feet in front of the cave and waits for her dragon to come out.
"It's all clear, Trillia, whatever was here is long gone. Wha..."
"I caught dinner." She pulls out the heart and hands it to him.
Chuckling he says, "Okay you win, Trillia, you can take care of yourself." His heart fills with pride that she is strong and has learned so quickly how to be a dragon. That fright today really messed with his head. He cannot lose her.
They make quick work of the wild boar and he cleans up the mess, not wanting animals to be drawn to the scent of blood. Of course most animals avoid the area when they scent dragons.
They move into the cave for the night and she notices he has piled leaves and pine needles trying to create something semi comfortable.
“Looks like I'll be sleeping as a dragon tonight as that doesn't look too comfortable for a human."
“Who says we'll be sleeping." He reaches for her.
She giggles and pulls away from him. He frowns. "Get back over here. I have use of your lovely body."
"Hah! You mean this body?" She wiggles her haunches at him, raising her tail.
"Oh you are rotten." He half hops half flies, landing on top of her and pins her down. Growling he bites into her shoulder. "Be still…" He mumbles into her shoulder.
She stops moving and pokes her bottom upward. "Is this what you want?" She giggles again.
He growls and bites her harder until she begins purring. He slides in pushing deep into her moist heat. “Ahhhh, pure heaven." He loves how it feels to be within her folds. He slides in and out slowly until she begs him to speed up.
"Drey, don't tease!" He pumps hard into her and she gasps and then growls. He thrusts in and out of her faster and her tongue swipes out of her mouth and slips across his jaw. He feels himself growing harder and swelling, locking into her. She moans and growls. He is bouncing within her now, pushing in as deep as he can get. She pushes back wanting all of him. She suddenly begins shifting.
"NO!" He yells.
"Shhh, I'm experimenting." She does not shift all the way back into her human form. He sees her back, a mix of scales and skin, her wings growing smaller. She is a lovely combination of half human and half dragon. He can see she is still shifting but she is doing it so slowly. He can feel her shrinking around him and it squeezes him until he thinks he might pass out. She is groaning loudly now as he is sure she is having trouble with how tight it is inside of her as well but she keeps herself in that in between place. He can't take it anymore, a rush moves through him as his seed shoots into her. He does micro thrusts and then she falls forward as she finishes shifting and he falls out of her.
His eyes roam over her naked human body. It is just as lovely as her dragon form, sometimes he thinks it is even more lovely. All that soft, light brown skin and her deliciously small holes that he loves stretching and filling until she is crying out his name. He feels himself growing again and he groans. She turns around from cleaning herself off and gives him a knowing look.
"I take it you'd like me to stay in this form tonight?"
"Mmmmm," He rumbles, "Yes, I do."
She comes over and rubs her body against his fleshy, hard red tip and shaft.
"Trillia, your skin feels like satin." He rumbles a growling purr.
She continues rubbing against him with her whole body. She then takes the upper tip in her hand and lightly squeezes, swirling her fingers from her other hand over the top, lightly pressing her finger into the hole.
"Mmmmm, I remember you liked this, when I had to stick my pinky in to get a bit of your seed for Benoria."
His eyes are closed and he rumbles in his chest as he twitches. She pokes her finger in deeper and he thrusts upward. Her other hand begins pumping him as her body continues to rub against him. Her toes seek his sack and when she finds it, she lightly presses down. His eyes fly open.
"What are you doing?" He hisses.
"Close your eyes, let me play." He gives her a stern look but she only laughs. She is not afraid of him. Her foot rubs over the orbs that swim within his sack, lightly pressing as she rubs her body up and down the length of his red flesh. Her tongue licks around her finger in his hole and he about dies from all the sensations crashing over him.
"Trillia..." He moans. She knows he is close. She lightly presses down with her foot as she pushes her finger a little deeper and he is making little upward jerks. "I've never..." He growls and groans louder. She speads up rubbing her body against him and pushes her finger the rest of the way in his hole and he is panting, thrusting and growling.
"Trillia, please..." She loves making him beg, knowing she can do this to him.
"Yes, darling, let it go."
He roars as it pushes out of him violently. She removes her finger as thick streams shoot out and all over both of them but mostly her. When reason comes back to him and he can see again, he takes great care in licking her from head to toe, getting every bit of his seed off of her.
"Dear God woman, the things you do to me."
She wiggles her bare bottom at him. He huffs. "Not likely I have a third in me but by all means, keep wagging your beautiful behind, I'll find some use for it. He leans over and licks all the way up her crack.
"Oh..." She flushes and moves out of his reach. She shifts into her dragon and back again, knowing it helps her feel cleaner. She climbs up onto his chest plate and cuddles against his neck resting her head under his jaw. She falls asleep to the sound of his rumbling purr in his chest.

Trillia's head is pounding and everything looks blurry. Her vision slowly clears as she tries to wake up but being able to see does not make her feel any better. The walls are made of large stone bricks, much larger than the bricks they use in her old village. There is a long table to her right full of vials filled with all manner of liquids she cannot begin to guess at. Drey is nowhere to be seen and as she tries to move she realizes she is shackled to a post in the middle of the room. She yanks on the shackles and tries to shift. Her breath catches in her throat as a tingling sensation spreads through her body. She cannot shift! She hears laughter and looks around. There is a tall, dark haired man walking into the room through the one door to the left of her. He might have been attractive if he was not sneering at her.
“I see you've figured out you can't shift. Yes, well I had to make sure you couldn't get away now didn't I? You've been causing a lot of trouble undoing everything I created. They were getting so close to giving up and fading away out of existence."
She did not like the look in his eyes, there was madness there looking back at her. She chose to stay quiet.
“Not talking? No matter. I just need to keep you locked up and sooner or later he will give up looking for you. Oh, did I not say? There is a protection around this place and he will never sniff you out. Once he's given up hope, he will probably take his own life or waste away."
She laughs, “You don't know him at all. He won't stop until he finds me and when he does, we will both take pleasure in pulling you apart piece by piece!"
The raw anger flashes in his eyes but then he smiles. “Such optimism, it will be delightful to watch it fade from your eyes." He walks up to the long table with vials and sighs. “I tried so hard. Every time I thought I had it, it slipped through my fingers." He picked up a vial and swirled the liquid within it, set it down and then walked over to her. He stops about ten feet away.
“Why do you hate dragons so much?"
“Oh dear girl, I don't hate them I want to be like them. Unfortunately it didn't work and they…" His voice became dark and the energy in the room felt like a spark would light it on fire. “They laughed at me. Now we will see, without their precious females they won't be able to procreate." He waved his hand and all the shifter maidens were in shackles against the wall. “I must say, you shifters are a pretty lot." All nine of the shifter maidens they had found were there, even Benoria, Rantalian's mate.
“Don't touch them, leave them alone!" She roughly pulls against her chains and again tries to shift to no avail.
“So you couldn't be a dragon, so what, they didn't deserve to be wiped out of existence!"
“Well yes, yes they did because it is their fault I've become what I am."
“And what is that?"
“A monster…" He growls as he shifts into a large beast, almost the height of the 20 foot room, with teeth jutting out of its jaw, black bumpy skin that covers it's large body with tentacles coming out of its back instead of wings that were moving in different directions.
Trillia recoils and is glad the other shifters are still out. He leans over, getting so close she feels his hot fetid breath in her face, moving her hair and making her gag.
“You see, I'm quite repulsive, not beautiful like a dragon." One of his tentacles comes around brushing over her body. She tries to jerk away but her shackles hold her in place. “You are quite lovely; I can see why he desires you so much."
She closes her eyes and tries not to breathe. : Drey, where are you? Please find me! :
“Mind calling won't do you any good here either. I assure you, you are quite cut off from everything and everyone."
The smell lingers but she cannot feel his putrid breath against her skin and she opens her eyes. The man is once again standing before her. His hand reaches out, touching her face, trailing his fingers down her neck to her breasts. He twists her nipple until she cries out.
“Yes, I think I will have fun breaking your spirit."
*****
Drey wakes up and notices Trillia is not on his chest plate anymore. He sits up and looks around the cave. “Trillia?" Only his voice echoes back at him. He tries not to panic, she probably went out to hunt for their breakfast. He lumbers out of the cave. “Trillia?" Birds fly out of the nearby trees but he hears nothing else stirring. He tries to mind call her.
: Trillia, where are you? :
Still nothing. He looks around in front of the cave but does not see anything out of the ordinary. He goes back into the cave and looks around. His nose catches a whiff of something familiar. He growls low in his throat, he knows that smell. He roars so loud the cave walls shake.
*****
The shifters are starting to stir along the wall. The wizard had taken great pleasure in touching her, violating her in such ways that were worse than if he was rough. He had rubbed something all over her skin and it wasn't long before she was writhing about in desperate need. He then took care of that need in the most disgusting ways. She leans over and throws up, remembering. Her skin crawls as she tries to block it out of her mind. She retches as there is nothing left in her stomach.
“What… what's going on? Trillia, is that you? Why are we chained to this wall?" Benoria is pulling at her chains. “And why can't I shift!" Fear and panic lace her voice.
“Calm yourself, Benoria, it will do you no good to let your fear take over. Breathe."
Benoria listens to Trillia and takes long, slow breaths.
“It seems the wizard who cursed the dragons discovered what I was up to and is trying to put a stop to it." The others are awake now and listening to her. “He has done something to prevent us from shifting or contacting our mates. I'm not giving up hope though and neither should any of you." She debates whether to warn them about the monster the wizard has become. She decides against it. They will know soon enough. “I'm sorry I got you all into this." Guilt makes her chest hurt. None of them would be here if she had just stayed home with her dragon.
“This isn't your fault, ma'am, we chose for ourselves. Each of us is here because we chose to be who we are and to be with our mates." Selenda, one of the more recent shifters Trillia and Drey had found, speaks up. Several of the other shifters nod in agreement.
“She's right, Trillia, you didn't force any of us into this life. We chose. We are responsible for our own fate."
Trillia lets out a long breath and retches again.
“Are you alright, Trillia?" Benoria looks at her with concern.
Trillia wishes she could rinse out her mouth. “No, I'm not but there isn't anything anyone can do about it. When he comes back in, I want all of you to stay quiet, even pretend to still be out. You don't want to pull his attention toward you, trust me on that."
She has to protect them even if it means giving the monster what he wants. She gags but prevents herself from retching again.
*****
Drey flew all day. He may not know where to find the wizard but he knows how to contact the sorceress that helped them the first time. He lands on the sacred site of transformation and is surprised to see several dragons already there; Rantalian and two of the others Trillia and he had brought shifters to.
“Is Trillia gone as well?" Rantalian rumbles.
“Benoria is gone?" Drey remembers shy but determined Benoria.
“It seems the wizard has taken all of our mates." One of the others, Bendalin, adds.
“We've all had the same idea, have any of you called on the Sorceress yet?" Drey asks.
“No, we arrived just moments before you." Rantalian moves toward the altar. They each place items on it in offering to her, stones, flowers and shells.
“Sorceress, we, your dragons who honor your name, need your help. Please heed our call." They all three say in unison.
A shimmer of light hovers above them and then coalesces on the ground on the other side of the altar.
“Hello my beautiful dragons, what can I help you with?" Her melodious voice caresses each of them and they shudder.
“Sorceress, the wizard has taken our mates and we need to find him so we can get them back. They are innocents in this and don't deserve to be used by him." Drey says while trying not to look at her. It is hard for any dragon to resist her, mated or not.
“How do you plan on getting them back when you find him? You know his magic was strong when he put the curse upon you, now it is even stronger."
“How can we defeat him, we have to put an end to this once and for all." Drey rumbles trying not to whimper under her gaze. He feels his body responding to her and tries to lock it down. He notices the others are having a similar problem.
“Magic always comes at a price, are you willing to pay it?"
“You helped us before without asking for a price." Drey is beginning to pant as her hold on him tightens.
“I took pity on you as I didn't think it was right what he did, besides, one of you did pay the price you just didn't know about it." She looks at Drey, “Your father actually, he paid the price... he was so delicious." He shudders at the image she paints in his head. "That is why he found your mother so easily, it was my parting gift to him."
Drey hadn't known that, neither of his parents had said anything. “What exactly is the price?"
“One of you must serve me for a year."
Drey swore under his breath. Each of them had mates and none would willingly give up being with their mate for a year. He looks at the other three. “We draw for it. Whoever gets the short stick has to sacrifice a year with his mate to be with the Sorceress."
They each nod their agreement. Rantalian picks up four small sticks, making sure one is noticeably shorter than the others. He mixes them up in his paw and holds them out. They each pull a stick from his paw. Drey's is the shortest. It feels like punch in his stomach. The thought of not seeing his sweet Trillia for a year has him trembling.
“Alright. Tell us what we need to do and we will finish this. I have one request though, you allow me to say goodbye to Trillia before I go with you. I don't want her to think I have left her."
The sorceress nods her head. She holds out her hand and light shimmers over it. A staff appears and she hands it to Drey. “This will help you find them and prevent his magic from working on the one who holds it. If you learn how to use it before you approach him, you will also be able to shield those around you. If not… well let's just hope that you do." She locks eyes with Drey and his body grows hotter and hotter.
“Ow!" He jerks as the heat sears his chest plate. He looks down and the sign of the Sorceress is imprinted in the middle of it; it looks like an interwoven pattern, crisscrossing together. She smiles and then is gone with a swirl of lights.
Rantalian looks at Drey sympathetically. “I'll help you figure that thing out before we get to him."
“Thanks, I have a feeling we don't want to know what will happen if we fail." Drey holds an image of Trillia in his mind hoping she knows they are looking for them. "Hang on, Trillia." He whispers.
