An Education in Dominance
Chapter 3: The First Class
By Draconicon
Morning came, and with it came the loudest alarm that Basajuan had ever heard.
"Ooh, oh yeah, oh fuck yes, oh yeah, oh stud, oh yeah!"
The stag rolled over, punching his fist down on the alarm clock wedged into the nightstand. He glared at it out of one eye, the time displayed in red lines and black spaces. 0800.
...
Ugh...
Basajuan rolled to the side, blinking and rubbing his eyes as the sleepiness slipped away, replaced with the general annoyance of being up early. He stumbled away from his bed to the nearby counter, dragged one of the coffee cups down from the cupboard, and placed it under the coffeemaker. He needed caffeine, and he needed it -
"Ooooh, fuck yeah, fuck me stud, fuck me."
That alarm wasn't coming from the nightstand, but rather than the room just next door. The stag rolled his eyes as he waited for the coffee to come out, resisting the urge to stick his fingers in his ears. Just because someone else had gotten lucky last night and roped a sub for their room didn't mean that he needed to be annoyed.
But if they got a switch for their room, instead...
Now, that would be enough to make him jealous.
Switches were one of those rare commodities, much like how bisexual people had been at one point of history. Much like bi folk, switches had an ability to go either way, and that was something that made them just about ideal partners for most folk. They not only understood the issues that the partner had in a way that most others didn't (a sub didn't always understand a dom, and a dom didn't always understand a sub, but a switch understood both), and it meant that they had an easier chance of getting along.
Of course, in Dimash, they were rarer than gold and diamonds together, and sometimes it seemed like they were little more than a myth. Certain Basajuan had never had the chance to get one.
The coffeemaker finally finished its work, leaving him with a cup of black coffee. He chugged it down, winced, and then put the coffee back for another. He had the feeling that he was going to need it.
He was just about to set into his third cup when there was a knock on the door. The stag considered putting on a pair of pants, but fuck it. They were in college now, and there was nothing on him that he minded someone seeing. He'd been fucking in public for months now.
"Come in."
Surprisingly, it was Keremy, the orca from the day before. He arched an eyebrow, waiting for the big male to get over seeing him in the buff, then waited a bit longer when the orca seemed to be a bit entranced with his equipment.
"This a pants moment?" the buck asked.
"Um...if you don't mind."
"Sure. I'll get something off you later."
"You'll - what?"
"Fair's fair. You're asking a favor, I get one later."
"I...guess that makes sense."
The orca seemed more embarrassed than ever, which was rather strange. For all that Keremy was an exchange student, he had thought that the foreign office would have done their job and made sure that the orca was educated about the country he was coming to. Tourists had to be filtered and taught the ways of the country before spending any significant time in Dimash.
Then again, maybe they thought that he'd just learn it here. If that's the case, that's a damn lazy caseworker...
As he shoved his legs into a pair of pants, he made sure to tuck everything in place before turning around. He leaned back as non-threateningly as possible, crossed one leg over the other, and sipped his coffee. The third cup was no longer so harsh; now that he was more awake, he could enjoy it with milk and sugar.
"So...what brings you to the dom dorms?"
"Well, um...I was kinda..."
The orca rubbed the back of his neck, reminding Basajuan of the lack of leash or collar that the other male had. It was so...wrong, seeing someone go without either. It was like looking at a child in an adult's body, like there was something missing, some...understanding of what adult life and society was like. He shook his head, waiting it out.
Eventually, Keremy sighed, looking down at the floor.
"I don't know if I'm cut out to stay here. It's just...it's so..."
"Open?"
"Like I can't believe."
"You didn't really study this place much before you came here, did you?"
The orca shook his head. The buck sighed, putting his coffee down and walking over to the other guy. He gently guided him further into the two-room dorm, avoiding the bathroom and sitting him down on the couch just opposite the bed.
"Getting embarrassed?"
"A little. It's...I mean, everyone tells me that I have to do whatever the people with leashes say. I'm not used to someone just having that authority over me just because..."
"Just because they are who they are?"
"Yeah."
"It's not that different from the rest of the world though, is it?" Basajuan asked. "I mean, you have jobs out there. You do what people tell you to there, and they're not any better than you are."
"Yeah, but out there, you go home at the end of the day. You can stop doing your job for a while."
"...That sounds so weird."
"Well, that's how it is. And it's weird for me to not be able to stop."
"Heh..."
It was always interesting to learn something new, he supposed, but he could see the signs of defeat on the orca's face. He was struggling to admit any of this; actually participating in the system, particularly with multiple doms, might be more than the poor guy could handle. And he had to admit, the buck wasn't sure that he had the capacity to fix Keremy up if the orca got broken down by people used to real subs.
"You want my advice?"
"I guess so. You were nice before."
"Well, here's my suggestion. There's a lot of good people with leashes out there; find one of them that you can trust, and then find a collar. Fast. You want him - sorry, am I assuming stuff?"
Keremy shook his head, confirming Basajuan's guess that he was pretty much pure gay.
"You want to find a good dom and offer him that collar. Let him put that on you, and you won't have to deal with anybody else trying to tell you what to do."
"But...but won't that..."
"It won't be bad if you pick the right guy, and there's lots of good ones here. I know some from high school, and there's some real softies out there. If you need names -"
"God, please."
"Alright. Meet me at lunch, and I'll have some names and numbers for you. Okay?"
"...Okay."
Keremy smiled.
"And thanks."
"No problem. Now, get outta here. I need to shower if I'm going to make it to class on time."

His first class was the one he'd been slightly strong-armed into. Erotic Criminology 101, with Professor Necross SkyWing. Staring at the name on his schedule, he honestly wondered if the last name had a typo, but he wasn't going to question it. You said it the same either way, after all.
The classroom itself was a bit different from what he'd heard the other colleges tended to do. The room itself was divided into three tiers, with the top one being the smallest and the bottom being the largest. The subs worked their way down to the bottom tier, and those with a leash for the subs went to the middle. Those doms that had nobody to call their own just yet went to the top.
Even though it was the first day, the middle row had a surprising number of people in it, including the armadillo from yesterday. Danny flashed a smirk at the passing buck, and Basajuan smiled slightly in return. He arched an eyebrow at the armadillo carrying two subs along, one leash for each, and shook his head as the loops for the leashes were dropped onto a pair of rods stuck into the side of the desk.
You'll find that getting out of control pretty quick, Danny, he thought. You aren't a harem dom.
As he debated whether to report the amateur dom to the NSPA office, Basajuan almost missed the teacher coming into the room. He turned his head towards the black and red dragon, looking him up and down a few times, and shivered.
Okay...do not mess with this guy.
There were good reasons for that, aside from the fact that Professor SkyWing was in charge of the class. Not only was the dragon well-muscled across the chest and shoulders, and not only did he stand head and shoulders over most of the students, but there was something to the way that he looked at everyone. There was a...a hunger in his eyes, a deep, urgent need to grasp and hold and clutch the world to his chest, and from that tight grip, manipulate it.
He'd seen it on a number of doms in Dimash, usually the ones that actually did make it into the business of being a Pro-Dom or a Harem-Dom. They were the ones that had the most desire to take control of the world around them, and they were the ones that no other dom ever tried to order around. Even if they could be persuaded to listen, it was always done by getting them to believe that they were the ones that had come up with the idea in the first place, and considering how well they tended to know themselves...well, that was a job and a half to trick them into thinking that.
The professor was dressed in a long duster of a jacket, with a t-shirt and pair of jeans on under it, and Basajuan was surprised to see that he walked in barefoot. A second look, seeing that his toes were damp with spit, explained that much at least.
"Good morning, class," Professor SkyWing said.
"Good morning, sir," the subs said.
"Good morning, Professor," the rest of the class added.
"Heh, I never get tired of that."
As the professor took a bag off his shoulder and laid it on his desk table at the front of the room, Basajuan glanced towards the leash that the dragon carried. They were always a sign of what sort of dom a person was dealing with. Gold leashes tended to mean a Pro-Dom, the sort that taught about dominance or were the sort of prostitute that Danny wanted to be. A studded red leash tended to mean that they were a Harem-Dom, with each stud representing a sub in the harem.
Necross, however, had a different one. Yes, it had the studs of a Harem-Dom, but it was colored black. He shivered.
And the dragon noticed him doing it, too. Professor SkyWing looked up, smiling.
"Noticed, did you?"
"You're a Spymaster-Dom."
"That I am. And I'm always looking for recruits, so if any of you subs want to try the business after you graduate, look me up."
The dragon laughed, but the rest of the class was quiet at the announcement.
Spymasters. They were both an aspiration and a terror, depending on what sort of person you were. Basajuan had heard of them when he was younger, and had read about a number of Spymaster heroes in the spy thrillers that he used to read before he developed different interests. They were the backbones of law enforcement and the defense force of Dimash, and if rumors were to be believed, they could read one's thoughts through the most innocuous body language.
"You'll want to calm down, class. Just because I have two jobs doesn't make me any more dangerous than anyone else you know. Just a lot better informed."
The dragon smiled, looking around the room.
"Now, this class is going to focus primarily on how to use your skills as either a dom or a sub to work over suspects, read their body language to know when they're not telling you something, and, most of all, how to 'encourage' honesty with your suspects and other people in your life.
"It's a simple enough to talk about it, though. Why don't I give you a demonstration? How about...you? The poodle in the front."
Everyone turned to watch the fluffy, pink poodle bounce out of his seat. The dog had a way of walking that made him look rather femme, but there was just enough bulge in the front of his booty shorts to show off just what he was. Basajuan watched the approach, and could see the wheels turning in the professor's eyes.
He already knows everything, the buck guessed. God...that's terrifying...
Yet, there was something to it that kept him interested. If he'd had that power, if he'd been that skilled, he would have known that James was getting ready to stab him in the back. He would have known that the mouse was going to ditch him at the end of the entrance exams. He would have been ready for it.
I need this...I need this...I just need to do it and not be so scary about it.
Just as the poodle came to a stop, the teacher smiled.
"So, pup, you haven't found a leash-holder yet, have you?"
"Nope. Haven't found -"
"Not a very good dog, are you?"
The poodle blinked, but the teacher was relentless, standing taller and smirking as he slowly spun the leash in his hand.
"What are you thinking, hmm? What's a poor little pup like you doing, walking around like you're a person? Doesn't it feel so hard to keep yourself on two legs, when it would feel so much better to be on all fours?"
Some of the students were laughing, but the teacher's speech was causing a reaction. A few of the canine students in the front row were slouching forward, almost as if they were trying to go to all fours. The poodle wasn't much better, blushing, but tilting his head back as if on instinct, exposing the pink leather collar of a Pleasure-Sub.
"I...it's still...it's early..."
"And you think it's ever a good time to deny that part of you? Oh, you poor little thing. You started thinking again, didn't you?"
The poodle blushed.
"You started thinking. You must have such a throbbing headache right now. No worries. There's such an easy fix to that."
The poodle yelped as the dragon attached the leash to the poodle's neck, giving him a little tug. Just like that, the sub was down on all fours, showing off a bulge in his shorts that had not been there before and panting like a little bitch dog. Professor SkyWing turned to the class, holding the leash carefully.
"Now, what happened there, everyone?"
"You turned him into a bitch," Danny said.
"Yes, I did. How?"
"Dunno. But looks like you just ordered him to do it."
"Not quite. One of the better body-language readers, please?"
The dragon called on a mongoose in the middle row, one that was leading around a bigger sub. The mongoose leaned back, his baggy pants flopping about as he put his feet up on his desk.
"You used his doggy nature against him, didn't you, oh flappy one? A subby doggy just wants to be a bitch, at the core; you started talking to him as if he already was."
"Hmm, yes. But how did I know that's what he was?"
"Oh, by the way he walked, and that prance and lifted head. That wasn't a poodle that was just well-bred and showing off. That was a poodle prancing around, begging for someone to put him on a leash."
"Very good, young man. Very good."
Basajuan shook his head. There was something more to it, though.
He wasn't just reading the poodle's body language and playing on it. He was using that force of personality, too, he thought. That wasn't just encouragement to bow to his own true nature. That was pushing his own will onto that guy, and making him bend down and surrender. And he did it really quickly, too.
As shiver-inducing as it was, he'd have to remember that. The possibility of using that sort of skill to bring a patient out of his shell or subdue them was one that he could use.
The more he saw, the more he realized that this was a class that he'd profit from. Whether or not Professor SkyWing had been pushing the advisors to sign more people up for it, he could see the different applications of the beginner course.
The professor kept the poodle on the leash for a few more minutes before finally releasing him again, allowing the little guy the chance to go back to his seat. As he wound up the leash, the dragon continued.
"As you can see, the use of dominance on a 'suspect' can render them into a much more pliable state. If used correctly, one can slip through the cracks in their behavior and get them to admit to things that they don't want to say, or even make them remember things that they've forced themselves to forget. The key is to always have that aspect of authority over them, a piece of yourself that they can see and acknowledge as someone that has the right to order them about.
"Think of it as an extension of your own psychological state of mind. As doms, you see the world as something that you have the right to command, something that you can take advantage of as you see fit. Anyone with a collar is your subject, and everyone that has a leash is your equal. Your own leash is that status symbol over subs that allows you to take charge and command them.
"What I do, what anyone in the Enforcer-Doms or the other parts of the defense force command does, is take that and expand upon it. You learn to find that spot that everyone has. You find that place where there is no confidence, where there is no sense of purpose, where there is some sort of weakness or flaw. There's nothing wrong with the person; it's what they see as wrong with themselves. And then..."
He held up the leash.
"You find something about you to fill that gap. As soon as you find it, you're in. As soon as you find that, you are in control."
Professor SkyWing chuckled.
"Subs, you'll have a similar role as Peacekeepers, except that you will approach things from the opposite way. You will find ways of offering yourselves, services that you can extend, ways that you can slide under a person's radar until you can..."
Basajuan shook his head as he started tuning things out, leaning back in his chair. The dragon's lecture continued to filter through, getting filed away in his brain for now until he needed it. Doubtlessly, he would in the future - knowing how subs operated was an integral part with knowing how to heal them - but for now, he had something else to think about.
Professor SkyWing approached the subject of domination from a different direction than most. He saw it as a way of taking control, of enforcing his will rather than healing people. It was an understandable difference, considering the type of dom he was. He was the kind of person that needed to have that sort of control over his subs; Spymaster-Doms sent their subs abroad, so they needed to have that extended control in order to maintain it over a distance.
That said, it was...troubling, thinking of using his own dominance that way.
If I was pushing my own views on a sub that way, if I was taking control to force them to obey just for the sake of obedience...
Yet, was that so different from how he would have to heal reluctant patients? When they were fighting him, refusing to tell him what was wrong if they'd done something illegal, or if they were fighting him because they wanted to keep doing some unhealthy habit...
When he was right, and they were wrong, could he force a sub to do that?
Could he force a dom?
A shiver ran down his spine, and he pulled his thoughts away from that road. It was not a place he needed to go yet, and until he absolutely had to think about it, he didn't want to. Even though a Doctor-Dom was specially trained to handle that sort of thing, it came very close to breaking the societal bounds of Dimash. Way too close than he was ready to think about right then.
So, instead, he leaned back and listened, taking in everything that the Professor had to say about how to read people and how to open them up. That, at least, was useful.
