#10 of Cyn

This is the final installment of the Cyn series. More at the end. (Don't want spoilers!

"I'm sorry." Ryan said, lowering his head.

"She sacrificed herself for the good everyone." Elmeera said, looking at the petrified Cyn, who sat before them.

"Cyn..." Will said, putting his hand on her. "Damn it!" He screamed, hitting the ground. "Why does this have to happen!!!"

"Will, calm down. Maybe we can restore her." Ryan said, putting his paw on his shoulder. "Let's go to Drangual. The Dragon Lord should be resurrected... if anyone knows of a way to bring her back, he does."

"I will watch over Cyn while you guys are gone. After all, she did save my life. It's the least I can do. "Elmeera said, smiling at them.

"But... what if..." Will began to say before Ryan interrupted.

"As long as I can be with you, I will do anything." Ryan said in a voice imitating Will's. "I'll protect you, my beloved mate. Even if it kills me."

"I did say that... wait! I said that after Cyn and I... when did you? How did you?" Will stuttered, his face bright red.

"To answer the when..." Ryan chuckled, clearing his throat, "Will... can I ask you a really big favor?" He said in a voice similar to Cyn's. "Please remove your underwear... I want to see what you look like." Speaking normal, he the said, "As for how... Secret!" he laughed, waving one hand.

"Wait, so you spied on us while we were..." Will stuttered.

"The point is, you love her, right? You are courageous, right?" Ryan said, looking Will in the eyes.

"Even with courage, can I really save her?" Will questioned, his head slumping.

"Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality." Ryan said, turning to walk out. "Listen, if you won't save her, then I will. After all, it's the least I could do to repay her."

"But..." Will stuttered, looking at Ryan.

"Farewell, Will." Ryan said, sighing. "I respect you for everything you've done. You gave your life for Cyn. I understand if you're too afraid you'll die again. It isn't fun. Trust me, it happened once to me today." Ryan said, walking out.

"Wait... Ryan!" Will yelled, running after him.

"Coming along, too?" Ryan asked, laughing.

"Sorry about that. My brain is a little off. After all, I was dead for a while. The circulation must still be a bit off track!" He laughed, walking ahead. "Off to Drangual we go!"

~~~~~
As they trekked to Drangual, the day passed, eventually leading to darkness. As the two sat continued to walk, Ryan sighed, and looked up at the stars. "You're very lucky to have somebody like Cyn."
"I agree." Will said, smiling. "So what brought this on?"
"Just thinking of my first love." Ryan said with a sigh. "When I came under Dragon Lord Meirick's service, I fell in love with one of the dragons that was under his service."
"Ah, what was her name?" Will asked, looking at Ryan.
"Elrin." Ryan said, showing no emotion.
"Elrin?" Will said, thinking. "Strange name for a... Wait... you mean the Elrin? The one that..."
"Yes. That Elrin." Ryan said, shaking his head. "It, as you can tell, didn't work. He killed Meirick, and usurped the throne."
"So wait... are you...?" Will stuttered, looking at Ryan.
"I'm not really sure. Elrin and I were only together briefly, and, well... he wanted me to rule beside him, but I declined, so he beat the snot out of me, and exiled me from the kingdom. I wandered around the countryside, training, and working really hard so that I could get my vengeance." Ryan said, lowering his head. "In the end, it wasn't me who beat him. You and Cyn did what I couldn't."
"So... you aren't interested in Cyn after all." Will said with a smile.
"She is cute, but I'd rather re-chain Elmeera to that bed and relieve my male urges upon her instead."
"That's just akward." Will said, laughing. "So your bi, I guess?"
"Maybe... cutie pie." Ryan giggled, whipping Will on the butt with his tail.
"Now you're just messing with me." Will laughed, as the two continued. In the distance, they could see the castle of Drangual shining in the light of the moon.
~~~~~~

"Drangual..." Ryan said, looking around the streets of the city. "As soon as we get Meirick to undo the curse, I want to just curl up and sleep. I am exhausted."

"Sorry we walked so fast. I'm just afraid that, the longer we wait, the less of a chance of saving Cyn we have.

"I understand, and fully agree." Ryan said, looking around. "Come on, I bet I know where Meirick is!"

"Wait up!" Will yelled, chasing after him. Eventually, they arrived at a large temple that had statues of dragons in front of it.

"So this is where the Dragon Lord hangs out?" Will said, looking.

"This is the temple where a Dragon Lord goes to pray, and hear the spirits of dragons. Dragons also used to come here to restore their power. Anyways, let's go in."

"Okay." Will said, stepping through the door. As they entered, Will heard somebody say, "Welcome to out temple, young one."

"Hello." Will said slowly.

"Shhhh... do not speak unless spoken to by a member of the Dragon Lord's followers." Ryan growled.

"But somebody spoke to me." Will said, holding his hands up.

"I didn't hear anything." Ryan said, shaking his head. "Great. Don't tell me your hearing voices now."

"What? He's here?" A voice said, coming from deeper in the temple. A man with long silver hair and a black robe stepped out to greet the two. "Ah... Ryan. You're still alive!" he said, smiling. He looked exactly like the human form that Elrin had taken.

"Lord Mierick! You're alive!" Ryan cried, breaking into tears.

"Hello, your majesty." Will said, kneeling before the man.

"Are you sure?" Mierick asked, looking away from them, as if talking to an invisible force.

"Who are you talking to, and how do they know my name?" Will asked, looking at Mierick.

"Is he?!?" Ryan stuttered, looking at Mierick.

"Apparently, he must be able to hear them as well." Mierick said, approaching Will. Will, stand on your feet. I understand that you must have been through a lot."

"So... what are these voices I'm hearing? Are they dragon spirits?" Will asked, looking around.

"Yes. You see, the spirits of this temple can speak only to Dragon Lords, seers, and dragons." Mierick said, smiling. "Dear brother, I never thought I'd see you again."

"B-Brother?" Will stuttered.

"Wait, so this is William Monterro, the half-blooded Dragon Lord?" Ryan asked, shaken.

"Wait... I never told you my last name, Ryan!" Will said, looking at him.

"Well, you did say it when Cyn awakened you with necromancy." Ryan said, thinking to himself.

"Cyn raised me from the dead?" Will said shakely.

"Will, you my half brother... and a Dragon Lord." Mierick said, smiling.

"How? I know my parents!" Will said, looking at him.

"Correction. You know your father and your step-mother." Mierick said, smiling.

"I can't believe I didn't realize who he was." Ryan stuttered, looking Will over.

"So what the heck is going on?" Will asked, looking at Mierick.

"Simple. My mother... she had an affair with one of the castle guards. She had a child by him. My father was angered, but couldn't kill the child... so he exiled the child and his father." Mierick said, smiling. "My parents no longer live... so I decree that your banishment is repealed."

"Uh... thank you." Will said, shaking his head. "Are you sure I'm the one?"

"Well, a Dragon Lord is capable of withstanding curses fairly well." He said, causing Will to remember the time when he survived the stone curse that Cyn casted upon the town. "Also, they usually have a lot of inner energy, able stand in the face of the most dire situations." As he said that, Will remembered the battle with Quetzu, and how he was able to use pure will power to walk through the force spell.

"Sorry to interrupt, but we came here for something." Ryan said, causing Mierick to look at them.

"We need to restore my mate." Will said, his eyes welling up with tears. "She exhausted her magic, and turned to stone."

"Ah yes... Cyn." Mierick said, smiling. "The spirits told me. If you pour a draconic elixir down her mouth before she completely turns, she may be able to be restored.

"She is already turned." Will said, lowering his head.

"Are you sure? The process starts with the skin... then the muscles. The full process takes about twenty-four hours." Mierick said, looking at them.

"But... it's been atl east fifteen! There is no way I could get their on time!" Will cried in a panic. "Please! I need the Elixir now! That, and a horse!"

"Calm down. Remember, we are Dragon Lords. Follow me to the castle." Mierick said, walking out.

"Just a little longer, Cyn." Will murmured, following him.

"So Will is the one that I spent all that time looking for... go figure." Ryan laughed to himself, following him out.

"Wait, did you just say that you were looking for me?" Will asked, looking back at Ryan.

"Yea. When Mierick was killed by Elrin, I tried to find his brother. I figured that, if a Dragon Lord and I teamed up, we could beat Elrin. All I knew is that his name was William Monterro, and that he was Mierick's half-brother. I had no clue you were the same one. In fact, I didn't even question that until you said your name after Cyn used necromancy to raise you." Ryan said, smiling.

"So what did happen, exactly? With the whole Cyn raising me?" Will asked, looking at Ryan.

"Well, she was locked in a cell, and I was unable to move. One of Quetzu's servants entered in, and we realized that she was actually undead, raised by Quetzu. Cyn figured that her kind must have some sort of necromancy abilities, so she tried it on you." Ryan said, moving up alongside Will.

"Wow... so why was my body there?" Will asked, looking at him.

"Quetzu thought he could use us to break Cyn, presenting our corpses to her, and forcing her to stare at them. Luckily, I awoke from death because of my immunity to the curse." Ryan said, as the two walked into a small building. There were several small bottles on the wall.

"Right here." Mierick said, pulling a small, dragon-shaped glass bottle. The tail formed a handle, and the bottle poured from the mouth. It was full of a glowing blue liquid.

"That's the elixir?" Will asked as he took the bottle from Mierick's hand. "Thank you... but how am I supposed to get to her in time?"

"Not so fast!" an eerily familiar voice said, causing them to all look. Elrin's head peeked through the door.

"Elrin!" Ryan and Will both cried, readying to fight.

"Bow, dragon!" Mierick said in a commanding voice.

"No... must... resist..." Elrin cried as he slowly bowed to Mierick. "What are your wishes, my lord?" he then said, in a trance.

"That's amazing!" Will said, looking at Mierick. "How did he kill you if you can do that?"

"I never took control of him. I believed it to be immoral. I never put any dragon under my control unless I really have to... I could show you how to do it." Mierick said, smiling.

"No. I may have the blood of a Dragon Lord, but I don't need it. As long as I can save Cyn... I'll be happy." Will said, looking at Elrin.

"I'm afraid that only two people can ride on him at a time." Mierick said with a sigh. "I have to be one of them.

"Elrin! Hear my command!" Will suddenly shouted, causing Elrin turn toward him. "I wish for you to obey my command."

"Yes, master." Elrin said submissively.

"Sorry, brother, but I need Ryan there. We're the heroes of this story. You haven't been in it long enough to be counted." Will said, hopping onto Elrin's back.

"It took me years to learn to control a dragon." Mierick stuttered, surprised that Elrin obeyed Will.

"Yea, well, if he disobeys, I'll just have to beat him again!" Will said as Ryan boarded.

"You beat a dragon in a fight?" Mierick cried, kneeling.

"Of course. After all, the hero always wins." Ryan laughed, patting Will's shoulder. "Come on, Mr. Pants Down! Let's fly!"

"So, I'm guessing this isn't the first time you've rode Elrin!" Will said in a mocking voice.

"Oh shut it!" Ryan growled, as Will braced himself.

"Up!" Will demanded, causing Elrin to leap up, and break into flight.

"If anyone deserves the throne, it's him." Mierick said as he watched them fly off. "William... good luck."

~~~~
` "You're back!" Elmeera said cheerfully as Will and Ryan ran into the room.
"Sorry, darling, no time to talk! We're timed." Ryan said as Will rand over to Cyn. She was posed in the same position as when she unleashed her spell ; he head tilted up, her mouth open, and her eyes closed.
"Cyn..." Will said, running one hand across her stone face. "Don't worry, it will be okay." With that, he slowly put the elixir to her lips, and poured it in. Once the bottle was empty he sat in front of her, sitting the bottle to the side. "Come on, Cyn... please let it work.
"Come on, Blue! You can do it!: Ryan said encouragingly.
"Please, Cyn... you have to wake up." Elmeera said, lowering her head.
"Hello, everybody." Elrin said, walking in.
"You!" Ryan growled. "Hurry, Will! Control him again!"
"Elrin! Stop!" Will cried, holding out his hand.
"Bah. You think that will stop me? Fool! I admit, you and Mierick both do have some compelling abilities. My body wants to obey. Luckily for me, though, I have enough strength to overcome such things." He laughed mockingly. "I was allowing myself to be controlled to lure you into a false sense of security. Now that I have you where I want you..."
"I challenge you to a Draconic-Style duel." Ryan suddenly blurted, taking a stance.
"Aryandyne..." Elrin said, shaking his head slightly. "You couldn't possibly beat me in a Draconic duel!"
"What's a Draconic duel?" Will asked, looking at Ryan.
"Simple." Ryan said, smiling. "We take turns hitting each other. First round, the challenger must take one blow from his opponent. Any attack. Magical, elemental or physical. Once they have been hit, they then strike the opponent. This process repeats until one falls."
"I accept your duel. One condition, though." Elrin mocked. "The winner gets to choose any person in the room they want to kill. Oh, and if you kill your opponent as a result of the battle, you still get to choose another." He said, laughing.
"No... I couldn't accept those terms!" Ryan growled, looking back at Will, Cyn, and Elmeera.
"Then why should I accept?" Elrin laughed.
"Okay, how about this. The fight will not be to the death... but if I win, you will never harm another living thing again. If I win... I will become your personal slave, and will follow your every whim." Ryan said solemnly.
"I accept." Elrin said with an evil smile. Stepping back, Elrin whipped his head fast, spewing a blast of white flames at Ryan, who simply took the hit, and then countered with his own blast of fire. Both froze for a few seconds afterwards, adjusting to their pain.
"Come on, Elrin! Round two!" Ryan said confidently, bracing himself for another hit. With that, Elrin swiftly headbutted him, rolling him across the ground.
"Ryan!" Don't give up!" Elmeera cried as Ryan struggled to stand.
"I wasn't planning on it." Ryan said, looking at Elrin. With that, he unleashed a second, more powerful shot, causing Elrin to cringe.
"Two fire shots in a row? Hah! You can't beat me like that! Time to end this!" Elrin laughed, before ramming Ryan head on, smashing him into a wall. Stepping back, Elrin laughed, looking at the Arcane Drake that lied pathetically at his feet. "Surrender?"
" Never..." Ryan gasped, slowly rising to his feet. "Now it's time for me to end this!" Ryan said, his eyes emiting blue fire.
"Of course! Ryan is using the adrenaline rush he is getting from being beaten up to fuel his attack!" Will said, looking at Elmeera.
"But why did he hit Elin with two fire attacks? Dragons are resistant to flames! All he did was warm him up a bit!" Elmeera said nervously.
"Hurry up and do it!" Elrin said impatiently. Suddenly, Ryan's body began glowing with a brilliant blue fire, and rushed at Elrin.
"This is the end!!!" Ryan screamed, hitting Elrin in the chest. In a brilliant flash of fire, Elrin flew back several feet, and hit the wall. As he did, pieces of burnt scales fell to the ground, and Elrin fell, black blood around him.
"How did you do that?" Elrin gasped, clenching his claws, tears welling up on his charred face.
"Elrin... that was the anger you have filled me with, all vented into one attack. What you feel is the accumulative pain that you put me through for the past couple years." Ryan said, breathing hard.
"You heated up my body with your fire the first two rounds so that you could burn me quicker with your final attack." He said, sighing. "I'm sorry."
"What?" Ryan said, tears welling up. He wasn't sure why, but he felt sad.
"All these years, I help the throne of Drangual for no reason. Nothing came good out of it. I just sat there, alone. I was stupid." Elrin weakly chuckled.
"If you're trying to gain my sympathy, it isn't working." Ryan said, tears running down his cheek.
"No... I just want you do me a favor. Just... promise you'll find something better... You got your revenge... and..." Elrin gasped, coughing.
"And what!" Ryan cried, tears falling to the floor.
"Just... please, don't forget... the good times..." He said, gasping one last time, before collapsing limp.
"Elrin..." Ryan said sadly, turning away.
"Come here, Ryan." Will said, putting his arms around him. "I know you're probably just going to say shut up to me, but... I think, in a way, he wanted it this way."
"Why would he?" Ryan said, looking at Will.
"He dug himself into a hole he couldn't get out of. Once he killed Mierick, he lost you as a friend, and turned all those he cared about against him. He probably really regretted it, and wanted to undo it... but in the end, his only way of escaping the torment of being a self exile... was death." Will said, looking at the dead dragon.
"Will, I'm sorry the elixir didn't have an effect." Elmeera saidsadly, looking at Cyn's petrified form.
"I guess... using as much power as she did, it must of made her petrify completely a bit faster..." Will said quietly, looking at Cyn. "Damn it all! Come on, Cyn! Please!" He cried, punching the floor.
"Get a hold of yourselves! Ryan's sniveling in the corner, and now you, Will, are going to break your fingers!" Elmeera growled angrily.
"How can I calm down! I love Cyn is supposed to be my mate! Not a decorative piece!" Will yelled.
"I'm trying to make a point! I'm sad, too, but I think we should do something else! Just sitting here isn't going to make it better!" Elmeera said angrily.
"Elm... I'm sorry." Will said, calming down.
"It's okay. I understand why you are sad, but we need to calm down.
"Well, Elly, this is goodbye..." Ryan said, standing up and walking over to Will and Elmeera. "Anyways, enough mood swings. Can you guys help me bury Elrin?"
"I will. Will, you should probably go try to find a way to change Cyn back. I'm sure you'll find something in Mierick's library." Elmeera said cheerily.
"Alright. If you don't mind..." Will said, backing to the door.
"Elm and I can handle it. You just go." Ryan said, smiling at Wiil.
"Thank you." Will said, running out. After an hour of hard work, Ryan and Elmeera managed to drag Elrin's body outside, and were able to bury him at the foot of the tower. After a while, they both sat at the graveside, Elmeera up against Ryan, her tail wrapped around his back.
"So... what was your relation to Elrin?" Elmeera asked, looking at Ryan.
"We... he was... um... he kissed me, and said he loved me, and we stayed together for a while." Ryan said, blushing.
"So I take it that means you like guys?" Elmeera said, a hint of sadness in her voice.
"I was really lonely... and he accepted me. That's why we were together. Honestly, I never actually felt attracted to him. It was more like a close friend... though I think he saw it differently." Ryan said, looking at her. "Why are you asking? You looking for some love?"
"Wh-why would you say that?" Elmeera said, blushing.
"Cyn told me about how you were jealous of her and Will. Honestly, I am, too." He said, smiling. "You want to try it out? You and I... not necessarily as mates, but traveling together?
"So your suggesting we travel together for a while, and see if anything happens?" she said, looking at him with a blush.
"Well... our kind is rare... and we probably would be safer if we banded together..." Ryan said, slowly looking at her. Suddenly, before another word could escape his lips, she pressed her muzzle to his, and murred softly as they both pushed into the kiss, embracing each other. As the two savored the passion of their lips meeting, all of their troubles seemed to melt away.
"Sorry... I just had to try that..." Elmeera said as their lips pulled apart.
"Why are you apologizing? That was great..." Ryan said, smiling at her. "So, you want to travel with me?"
"If we can do that again, I'll go anywhere, or do anything if you want me to." She said, nuzzling her cheek to his. As the two embrace, Ryan saw a brilliant flash eminate from the doorway.
"Elm! Look!" Ryan said excitedly, causing her to look. As the light stopped. Cyn slowly walked through the door, a disoriented look on her face.
"Cyn!" Elmeera chimed excitedly, running over and embracing her.
"Whoa! Calm down guys!" Cyn laughed as Ryan hugged her too.
"You're alive! You're really alive!" Ryan said cheerily.
"What happened after I used that spell?" Cyn asked, looking at Ryan.
"Everyone was revived. Even Will and Dragon Lord Mierick... and Elrin..." he said, lowering his head.
"Elrin?" Cyn asked, surprised at Ryan's somber look.
"It's alright. We just buried him." Ryan said, smiling.
"And I take it you two like each other?" Cyn giggled.
"Yea..." Elmeera said, rubbing her cheek to Ryan's. "Anyways, Will left a while ago. If you really want, you could probably catch up to him. He is heading toward Drangual."
"Alright. I better run!" Cyn said, bounding off after him.
"Good luck!" Ryan yelled to Cyn.
"I don't need it! We're destined to be together!" Cyn yelled back as she disappeared from sight.
"Boy is Will going to be surprised." Ryan laughed as Elmeera snuggled closer to him.
"Yea... and he'll be more surprised when he finds out that the eggs I'm going to lay are yours.
Elmeera said slightly, her cheek to his.
"What eggs...?" Ryan said surprised, before her suddenly realized what she meant. "Oh! Yea..." he said nervously.
"What's wrong? Scared of being with a girl?" She giggled, gently licking his neck. Suddenly, he pushed her off her feet onto her back, and passionately kissed her.
"No, not scared." Ryan said as he pinned her, smiling. "Just a little surprised. If you want, I can prove that to you."
"Alright. Prove away." Elmeera said, pressing her lips to his again.
~~~~

Will sat at the edge of a clear lake, staring at his reflection. Desperation had led him to head back to Drangual again. Cyn was a statue. What was he to do? He had to find a way. Any way. He couldn't let Cyn die! As he took a deep breath, he slowly turned to continue walking. He had to hurry. "Cyn... if only you were here now." He said, looking up. Suddenly, something rushed at him and tackled him into the lake. As he struggled to escape, he was taken off guard by something pressing up against his mouth. A ong tongue penetrated his mouth, causing him to completely drop his guard. Only one person would kiss him like this. Opening his eyes just slightly, he could see a blue, smooth-skinned muzzle to his own lips, and simple embraced her. His beloved mate.

"Your..." Will stuttered, pulling his lips back.

"I know." Cyn said, smiling. Without a second thought, they two continued their passionate kiss, eventually coming to settle on the bank of the lake. Gazing up at the sky, Will looked over at Cyn, who simply gazed up at the sky.

"So... now that we are together again, what should we try next?" Will asked her, running his hand across her smooth belly.

"Well..." Cyn said, looking up. "Drangual is a virtual safe spot for us, right? Well, then, let's try to find a way for me to bare your children. We'll use Drangual as our home for now. Sound good?"

"My brother is sure to help?" Will said happily.

"Brother?" Cyn asked, looking at Will.

"Oh yea... I guess I have some explaining to do... but first..." Will said, climbing over top of Cyn. "I got some making up to do for leaving you alone."

"Making up? More like making out!" Cyn laughed, looking into his eyes.

"Maybe a little more." Will said, running one hand down her chest.

"I... I'd like that." Cyn said, nuzzling her cheek to his. Finally, they could be together, with no dragons, hunters, or crazy Arcane Drakes. It was just Will and Cyn... and even after tonight, they would be questing for something other than to save their own lives.

"I love you." Will said caressing her cheek gently.

"I think it's more than love." Cyn said, smiling warmly. "I feel it too. Love is one thing. What I feel for you can't be described in words."

"Then I guess we'll need to find other ways." Will said, kissing her passionately. For the rest of the night, it would be like nobody else existed except them. Nothing else mattered.

_____Anyways, that's the end... for now. I am taking a break from this to work on another story. There will no longer be any "Cyn" stories, but I may choose to revisit these characters in a new story some time down the road. Maybe a "Ryan's story" type thing, or a sequel. Not really sure. I left it a bit open. Anyways, I will eventually post a new story, so I hope you continue to watch!
