K, here's the next bit, hope you like it

"Jake...hey Jake..." Lucas said as he gently shook the bear.

Jake heard the wolf's voice but was tired. He tried to ignore it and grunted as he pulled the blanket closer to himself.

Lucas sighed and shook the bear, "Jake...I can't get out..." he said. When the bear had pulled him into the embrace last night he had wrapped the blanket around them and Lucas couldn't move. He felt like he was in a cocoon with the bear-not that he hated it.

Jake grumbled in his sleep and nuzzled the pillow, still not wanting to move. He didn't really know what Lucas was talking about, his brain wasn't working-it was too early. He pulled more on the cover and felt Lucas being pulled closer to him along with it.

"Jake," Lucas said, still trying to be gentle. He waited a few moments and saw the bear had no intentions of getting up. Lucas wasn't frustrated at the bear, in fact all of what was happening seemed almost comical to him. He smiled at the bear, but at the same time was getting tired of waiting on Jake to get up. Lucas began to rub the bear's stomach, "Hey Big-guy, time to get up....Jake...Jake, Jake, Jake, Jake," he kept saying as he shook the bear.

Jake growled and tried to ignore it-he couldn't. He wanted to sleep, but he was awake now, there wasn't a point in trying to sleep now. He rolled over onto Lucas and glared at him, "You..." he said with a playful growl and grabbed Lucas's collar.

Lucas chuckled, and acted like he was having trouble breathing, "Too...h-heavy!" he said as he pushed on Jake.

Jake frowned, "I'm not that big,"

Lucas stopped playing but laughed, "I'm sorry...what did you say Big-guy?" he asked, emphasizing the 'big' part. Before Jake could respond Lucas snuck in a quick kiss on his lips.

Jake looked at Lucas, and felt a smile covering his muzzle; "What was that for?"

"Just cause..." Lucas replied. "Now...can you let me out?"

Jake nuzzled the wolf, "After that...no..." he joked. He rolled off Lucas and tried to escape the covers also. After he figured it out, he put the covers on the bed as they should've last night. When he finished he looked up and found Lucas was gone. He frowned but heard the wolf moving around in the kitchen. Jake walked in there and found the wolf running around. Jake leaned on the wall, "What are you cooking?" he asked as he watched the wolf.

"Breakfast," Lucas replied, like it was an obvious question.

Jake chuckled and went back into his room to get some clothes. He still felt weird to be in the apartment with company and have nothing on but his briefs. He put on a pair of pants and before a shirt he looked at the bandage. He gently touched his shoulder and smiled, and then choose a weathered shirt. He walked back in and saw his glasses on the shelf from the night before, and that the wolf was almost done. They ate a quick bite of breakfast and spent the day together. Jake made sure to show the wolf around the apartment-showing him all the areas he would need to know. They didn't do anything very important, enjoying the last day of break together. The day passed quickly and soon they were back in school.

It was the next morning and Jake decided he would drive. They got there and had enough time to catch up with some of their classmates-exchanging stories about what they did over spring break. Jake and Lucas looked at each other, exchanging a silent look and didn't say much. Kyle, Lucas's old roommate, was more energetic than usual. Kyle is a bright orange cat. He almost had a yellow tint to him. He was a lazy cat, but pretty cool once you got to know him. He looked over at Jake, "You got glasses!?"

"Really?" Jake asked with a chuckle.

Kyle then looked over at Lucas, almost seeming to ignore Jake's comment, "Hmm...that's a nice collar...where'd you get it?"

Lucas smiled, "It was a gift,"

Some of the girls chimed in asking from whom, but Lucas never answered because the conversation flowed too quickly. Kyle joked around, "How's your new roommate? Fun?"

Jake chuckled, "No...he's pretty boring," he joked.

Lucas acted like he was hurt, but smiled, "Well...the way I see it I haven't moved up at all. I used to have some game addicted roomy and now all I've got is a lazy roomy...no real change,"

Jake and Kyle both laughed. Jake looked at Kyle, "Only seven more weeks...spring break almost feels like a waste..."

Kyle gasped in mock horror, "What?!? But you didn't see some of the fine ladies out there at the beach! You guys have to come next year!" he said, and a few more of their friends nodded in an agreement.

"I'm not a beach guy... I came up here to get away from the heat," Jake said with a chuckle.

Kyle looked over at Lucas, "You're coming then man!" he said.

"We'll see," Lucas replied laughing.

They were able to talk for a few more minutes before it was time to head to class. Jake and Lucas had most of the same classes and walked together. Jake walked closer to Lucas than usual but no one mentioned anything-Lucas noticed, but he guessed that he should notice.

As the week back at school passed a pattern came back into life. Go to school, work, and study, take tests, and relax. Life passed by in a hectic manner and the weather changed as spring gave way to summer. It didn't really get too hot-not as hot as back in Jake's old home town. When they weren't studying for a class they both had a lab to do and were working to pass the class, though the classes weren't as hard as most people made them out to be. Slowly the last weeks of school came and the two received a schedule request form. They sat in the park, at their secluded spot, and talked about what to do. "Well, I know we're not going to take classes just to be with each other..." Jake said as he looked over the papers.

"Yeah...but most of what I need is what you need...we should have a similar schedule," Lucas said and traced his paw over the collar. He wore it all the time and it became a habit of his, to trace it as he thought.

"I was thinking...never mind..." Jake said, dismissing the matter.

"What?" Lucas asked, curious.

"I was thinking of taking a psychology course...you know for fun, and I was wondering...if you'd sign up with me...if you want to," Jake asked and blushed a little.

Lucas smiled and chuckled, he knew that this was Jake's way of asking him out, but at the school. To make sure they had a class together. He had seen Jake looking over some psychology stuff and guessed the bear was genuinely interested in it. Lucas nodded his head, "Sure...sounds fun to me," he said and circled the class on his schedule.

They finished their request forms and turned them in a few days later. They had both chosen a few of the same classes, both of them needed the classes and it worked out well. All they could do now was hope that it worked out. The rest of school passed quickly and hectically as usual.

Their living together was good. Jake thought it was funny that the bed in Lucas's room was never used-in fact it still had stuff on it. They used the room as a storage area still. Lucas wanted Jake to get a bigger bed in their room; the one they were in was a bit small; both of them being on the edges. Whenever one of them went to sleep before the other, they had to leave room for the other to get in, but besides the bed it all went surprisingly well. Jake usually drove them to school, and depending on how they felt they would go work out at the gym. It was fun and they both enjoyed being closer. Lucas still talked to his parents a few times a week, and would talk with Jake too.

At first Jake thought they wanted to talk about Lucas living with him, but he was surprised when they asked him questions as if he was in the family. They asked him how he was and if he was doing well in school-many of the same questions they would ask Lucas. Jake actually felt like he was part of the family. Occasionally they would receive food from Lucas's parents marked to both of them. Jake brought the subject up to Lucas one day, while they were laying on the couch, "Why do your parents act like I'm part of the family? When they call...they don't just ask me about you...they ask me about myself and how I'm doing...," Jake said.

Lucas looked over at Jake and chuckled, "I'm not seeing a problem..." he replied then looked at the bear more seriously, "My parents like you, they told me that when we were discussing moving in, and think you're a great person. I mean, even Ana likes you...You're just part of the family now," Lucas said.

Jake thought about it for a moment. It felt nice, but at the same time weird. He liked Lucas's family also. The idea that they cared about him just seemed strange to the bear. He felt Lucas begin to pet his head and looked up at the wolf.

"Don't think about it. It's not something you can really understand...it took me forever to understand why they would love me...even though I'm adopted," Lucas said with a smile then laughed, "Actually I still don't really get all of it,"

Jake smiled up at the wolf, and then felt the wolf kiss him quickly. The matter didn't come up again; Jake was just happy that the family liked him.

During the weeks Jake's shoulder healed well, but about a week after it healed Lucas bit him again, but Jake didn't mind. He was happy to have the scar, and would joke with Lucas that it was like being reminded of his poor choice in people. They slept together every night, but sometimes found it hard to be intimate though. Life was hectic and both usually went straight to sleep, but they always enjoyed being with the other. At one point Jake had been able to make another diner, like before, for Lucas; he liked being able to do things for the wolf, but it was rare that they could actually go on nice dates.

When they did go out it was usually a celebration or something, and one time they met some friends at the restaurant by coincidence. For some reason it wasn't as awkward as they thought, and strangely none of their friends ever assumed they were together-not that they ever really made it public. Everyone assumed they just hung out all the time, no one ever called them out or anything. Jake guessed it was because they just went together everywhere. Whenever Lucas went somewhere Jake was usually at his side. Some of their friends said they were tied together at the waist.

Most of their dates didn't seem too official though, but neither of them really complained. They would go out for a bite at a fast food place or a local diner and work on something together. For them a date was just being together, so it didn't seem like a big deal. School took up most of their time and they had to always be wise in their time, trying to find time for the other. Jake wished he could do more for Lucas, but whenever he brought it up Lucas dismissed it, telling Jake he was fine.

It came time for exams and the professors wouldn't allow them to exempt the exams. Jake and Lucas were back at the apartment and Lucas was complaining a little.

"This stinks! Why did we work so hard if they won't let us exempt!" Lucas said, a bit angry.

Jake just chuckled, "Why are you angry? We have A's in the classes...we're some of the few people that would've exempted and it's not like it's a huge deal. I mean...we didn't work hard just to exempt...it was to learn. All we have to do is pass, right?"

Lucas looked over at Jake, "How can you be so calm? What if we fail?"

Jake just chuckled. He was always fine on the tests, and so was Lucas; it was just that Lucas became a nervous wreck. Jake became a wreck on projects, but when it came to test he was fine. Over the past six weeks they had learned even more about each other as they lived together. It was fun and Jake loved having Lucas around, and Lucas was always happy to be with Jake. He was surprised at how well it all worked out.

They took their exams the following week, and passed them. Jake did better than Lucas in Anatomy, Virology, and Organic Chemistry, but Lucas did better in Paracellular Transport, Epidemiology, and Thermoregulation. To their dismay they tied in English 101, and Computer Science. In every exam they made an A, but to them both it was like a competition-to see who had the best grade. They were walking into the apartment kitchen when they were talking.

"I'm smarter," Jake said arrogantly, and jokingly. They had these arguments for fun and just to get under the other's skin.

"No, you're fatter," Lucas said with a chuckle.

"That too," Jake began, "I got everything you want,"

Lucas walked to the fridge, "Oh...we're out of humble pie again," he said then looked over at Jake, "well, you needed it all anyway Big-guy,"

"It's not arrogance..." Jake began with a grin.

"I'm just better than you," Lucas finished for him. After that the conversation stopped, and they sat down at the couch. Lucas would lean on the couch and rest his head on the back of the couch and Jake would usually lean on his shoulder or lay his head in the wolf's lap. It was nice to be able to spend time with each other and not have to worry about someone walking in. Lucas usually petted Jake's head and the bear would nuzzle him in return. At first this was new to them and both were slightly put off by being able to be with each other so openly, but after the first few weeks it was just casual, and more romantic. Jake would usually look up at Lucas and kiss him, and then return to watching TV, acting like nothing happened. This made Lucas smile and rub the bear's head affectionately. It was their last week together before summer and they sat in silence, not sure what to say. They had tried to see when they would be able to see each other, but it wasn't possible.

Jake was going to be working with his professor over the summer, and Lucas would be back home helping his family. It was possible to see each other on weekends, but the drive would only give them a few hours together instead of any substantial amount of time. They were both looking forward to summer, that wasn't the problem; it was the fact that they wouldn't be able to see each other. Jake looked up at Lucas and stared at the wolf.

Lucas felt the stare and looked down at Jake, "What's wrong?"

Jake knew it was going to sound cliché and sappy but he replied anyway; "I'm going to miss you,"

Lucas smiled and kissed the bear lightly, "It won't be all bad..."

"School is back on August the twenty third," Lucas said with a small smile, "It's May the twenty fourth right now...I leave on the twenty-eighth..."

"Thirteen weeks...ninety-one days...too much time," Jake said with a small sigh.

Lucas couldn't help but laugh. He saw Jake look up at him, confused. Lucas tried to speak, "Sorry...It's just that I didn't think you had counted the days...and well," Lucas said and kissed Jake lightly, "It's only twelve weeks...you had one too many," Lucas said with a grin. He had counted the days also.

Jake counted the days in his head quickly again, then looked up at Lucas, "Still a long time..."

"Yeah, but who knows...at the moment we can't find a way to see each other, but you never know...something could change," he said with a weak smile.

Jake nuzzled the wolf again, "Yeah...I guess you're right," he said with the same sigh.

Lucas frowned, the atmosphere suddenly much dimmer. They still had a few days together, but with each day it was painful. Lucas didn't really want to leave Jake, but he did want to see his parents. He knew Jake would be insulted if he stayed, and that his parents would be angry. He had already packed most of his things up, and only had a few things left, which he would leave here. Lucas rubbed the bear's head more affectionately and the time passed slowly.

Thursday came and Jake told Lucas they would go somewhere nice. Most students were too busy packing, or had already left, so it wouldn't be hard to get a reservation. Jake got a table at a local place, a nice restaurant. They went to it and talked casually like they usually would. The table had a long cloth over it and Jake would occasionally rub his leg against Lucas's. After they ate they went to the park and walked around. They passed a few people but didn't give them any attention. They made their way to their usual area and sat down.

Jake leaned over and rested on Lucas's shoulder, "You looking forward to going home?" he asked.

Lucas chuckled; "I am home..." he said and watched Jake blush. He continued, "I know what you mean...and yeah. It'll be great to spend time with the family. How do your parents feel about you staying up here?"

"They think its good that I'm working," Jake said with no change in tone. His parents said it was good for him to work up here, but he was a bit sad when they didn't even ask if he was coming home. He didn't mind much though; he was used to being alone. Jake felt Lucas begin to pet his head and nuzzled the wolf. He felt Lucas begin to rub him rougher and couldn't help but let out a laugh. He pushed against Lucas, who now had his head in his arms and was giving him a noogie, "Stop it!" he said through laughs.

Lucas continued it as the bear tried to get away and laughed. He felt the bear roll off the bench, bringing him with him. Soon they were wrestling each other, trying to gain control and laughing. They did this for a few moments before stopping and catching their breath. Lucas looked at Jake, who was smiling at him, "That's better..."

"What?" Jake asked still smiling.

"You smiling. You've been acting depressed...it's summer...not the end of the world," Lucas said with a chuckle.

Jake moved closer to the wolf, "Sorry," he said with a chuckle, "I've probably been acting like a real downer lately...haven't I?"

"Ehh...Just a bit," Lucas said, talking with his hands also.

Jake laughed, "Well, as long as we keep in touch...if you don't call I'll come find you," he said jokingly.

"Hmm...I may not call if it means you'll come see me," Lucas said with a chuckle, "I was thinking that I may be able to come back a week early or something...sound good?"

"It's up to you," Jake said, not wanting Lucas to come back just for him, "Enjoy the time with your family,

Lucas rolled over onto Jake and rubbed his stomach, "You know I enjoy my time with you too," he said teasingly.

Jake planted a quick kiss onto the wolf and smiled, "I enjoy my time with you more though," he said grinning.

Lucas chuckled. Jake did this a little, and Lucas knew he did it also. They never did it in public but when they were alone they would find themselves saying things like that. They would say things and jokingly argue over who enjoyed their time together more. It was one of the habits they had picked up-much like arguing over grades. Lucas was glad that they didn't argue seriously, or have any troubles with living together, but at the same time he knew that it could change, although he didn't think it would. Lucas rolled off the bear and they lay down for a bit, not saying anything. The mood was better though, more happy.

They stared up at the sky for a bit before Jake looked over at Lucas, "We probably need to head out," he said with a smile.

They got back to the car and drove to the apartment. Lucas looked over at the clock in the car, "Wow...it's almost midnight," he said, surprised they had spent so long outside.

"Ouch...what time are you leaving?" Jake asked with a laugh.

"Ten or so," Lucas replied. They talked a bit as they drove. When they arrived at the apartment they went inside quickly. They decided to go to bed. Jake took off his shirt and pants and Lucas stripped down to his boxers. Jake lay down in the bed and stared up at the ceiling, as Lucas went to make sure he had everything for tomorrow. He began to doze off and then felt the wolf lay down next to him. Before he could move he felt Lucas hug him from behind. "Switching it up?" Jake asked with a small laugh.

"Maybe..." Lucas said as he kissed along the bear's neck. He slowly moved his way to the bear's shoulder and lightly bit it, teasing Jake. He loved to do this to Jake, who would always freeze up at the bite. Lucas pulled away and resumed kissing the bear's neck. He slowly began to rub his sheath against the bear, Jake moaning.

Jake pushed back against the wolf and let out a happy growl as Lucas began to rub over his body. Jake felt his cock begin to come out of its sheath and was soon hard, and could feel Lucas's cock rubbing against him. After a moment Lucas stopped and Jake turned around to face the wolf. He smiled and kissed him lightly on the lips. His muzzle inches from the wolf's, "One more time?" he asked.

Lucas smiled and rolled on top of the bear, and leaned in closer, his nose touching the bear's, "Sure," he replied as he slowly kissed the bear. He felt Jake's arms wrap around him as they spent their last night together.

The morning came and Lucas was about to leave. He woke up in the bear's arms, like he had for the past seven weeks. He saw that Jake was already awake and turned over to face him, "Morning, Big-guy," he said and nuzzled the bear.

Jake pulled on Lucas a bit more, "Morning..." he said, a content smile on his muzzle.

Lucas pulled away from Jake, "How's the shoulder?" he asked, smiling to himself.

Jake chuckled, "Same...now I just have to wait for it to heal again, but the initial bite isn't that bad anymore...," he replied. The wolf had bitten him lightly last night; one last time before they had to part. Jake rolled out of the bed and then felt the wolf hit his butt. Jake turned around and eyed the wolf, but knew that he was blushing too much for it to be intimidating. He lifted the wolf in his arms, "Want to take a quick shower?" he asked with a grin.

Before Lucas could respond the bear picked him up and was carrying him to the shower. They took a shower, and kissed as they did. Jake pulled away after a moment, "If you want to play you'll never get home on time," he said as the water poured over them.

"Well...I'll turn on the cold water," Lucas said jokingly. They finished their shower and quickly dried off. Jake helped Lucas take his bags to the car and then they were back in the apartment for a moment, making sure nothing was forgotten. Before Lucas left Jake pulled him into a tight embrace and kissed the wolf deeply. It took Lucas by surprise but he found himself quickly returning it.

Jake kissed the wolf as deeply as he could making it last. He pulled away after a moment, "That one is for the summer," he said with a grin. He kissed Lucas again, pushing their lips together quickly and pulling away, "And that's for the road,"

"Thanks," Lucas replied and hugged Jake more tightly. He rested his head on Jake's shoulder, enjoying the moment. They broke the embrace hesitantly, not wanting to let go of the other. They walked down to the car and before Lucas got in he turned around again. He was surprised when the bear hugged him; one of the first emotional things the bear did in public. Lucas returned it, and as quickly as it began it ended. He saw that the bear was blushing heavily from it. Lucas turned around again and got into the car. He started it up and rolled the window down.

"Be careful," Jake said, sticking his head through the window.

"I will be," Lucas replied with a smile, "You be careful up here this summer. I don't want to hear about you falling down the stairs or tripping over a leaf," he said jokingly.

"I try to keep telling you; the stairs pull me down, and the leaf...well I don't care what everyone else says-it jumped out in front of me," he replied jokingly. He leaned in closer to the wolf, "I love you," he said.

Lucas was surprised that Jake said it in public. He looked around the apartment and could see that some people were outside, and even if they couldn't hear the two it was impressive to hear Jake say it. He smiled and fought the urge to kiss Jake and just returned the stare, "I love you too," he said.

Jake smiled and pulled his head from the window. He walked over to the beginning of the building and stopped-turning around to see Lucas drive off. He waved to the wolf as he drove away. When Lucas was out of sight Jake walked back up to his apartment. He had the weekend to himself and would start work on Monday. Jake sat down at the couch and sighed. It felt odd in the apartment. He had grown used to being with Lucas and now the small space seemed much larger, but more lonely. "It's going to be a long summer," Jake said to himself with a laugh.

As the first week passed both called each other frequently, and talked about how things were going. Jake told about his work with his virology professor and the type of work they were doing. Most of the work was with dishes to isolate proteins and isolate certain genomes in the virus-not going above the level two viruses. The work wasn't too hard, just mainly watching the dishes grow and doing a few calculations. Jake didn't complain though. Lucas on the other hand was helping Gina's father at his store. He was helping with storage, mainly transporting them. The work was hard, Lucas was glad that he had worked out with Jake this year and that Sam and Alex were there to help him out-they had shared jobs together for the past few summers. Lucas was talking with Jake, and it was late, "I think it'll be a good summer...has been so far," the wolf said to Jake.

"That's good. It's good that you have some people to hang out with...it's really lonely up here. The town is really isolated after school lets out, but on the bright side I never have to wait at a red light," Jake said jokingly. It was much lonelier now, all his college friends home, and Lucas back home also.

"Sorry...Anything interesting going on?" Lucas asked.

"Ehh...I guess I'm getting to know the professor a bit more. Did you know his wife helps him with his work? It's pretty cool I guess," Jake said, not really thinking about it. The professor, a collie, was interesting. He didn't act any different outside the classroom than he did at work. Jake liked him; he thought he was cool and funny.

"Well, that's good," Lucas said and yawned.

"I'll go, you need to get some sleep," Jake said, hearing the wolf.

"No, I can talk..." Lucas said.

"Sleep. I'll talk to you later; Goodnight Love," Jake said and hung up before Lucas could respond. As soon as he hung up though he realized what he had said, and chuckled a little. Calling Lucas 'love' was strange but it just slipped out. Jake lay down on the couch and grabbed his book, deciding not to think on it. He adjusted his glasses and opened the book to his previous stopping point.

The weeks passed slowly; nothing really changing. It was nice though, Jake enjoyed the time alone, a time to just sit back and think about life. His days were usually pretty easy going; he would get up and go to work for eight hours and then come home and relax the rest of the day. Jake quickly found he was running out of things to do. He had finished the books he wanted to read. He spent some time learning new material, but wanted something more relaxing. After the second week he decided to try and find a hobby, and choose cooking.

"They always say chemistry is like cooking...or something like that...if so I can't be that bad..." he said to himself as he mixed some things together. He had always thought he was a good cook, you know, when it was add water and heat up. He began to try and cook more complex meals. He tried his best, and suffered through most of his creations that were borderline for even being able to be called food. As the summer progressed he slowly improved, and eventually he thought his food was pretty good. He didn't tell Lucas though, deciding to surprise him with a nice meal when school started back.

Jake was surprised that it was also cheaper to cook. He could buy a lot of things he needed in bulk when they were on sale. He did this often and whenever he needed just one item he could try and improvise. Jake smiled to himself, he was slowly learning, and it actually helped him relax a little.

Lucas spent his time working, he worked for ten hours on a bad day, but then some days he could only spend four hours. It wasn't bad; he got to spend a lot of time with Alex and Sam. They usually hung out after work and would meet up with Gina and Jenny-most of the time going out to eat. When he went home he usually played with Ana, or hung out with his parents. Usually at night he would call Jake and they would talk, and sometimes his parents would talk with him. Whenever this happened Lucas just put it on speaker-it was almost like a family meeting. This happened a good bit, but after they all got done talking Lucas spoke to the bear alone, sometimes he woke up the next morning, realizing he had fallen asleep talking.

Near the beginning of July Jake's professor called him early. Jake woke up to the call at five in the morning, grumbling to himself as he answered the phone, "Hello...Dr. Hensley?"

"Jake...sorry to call you so early, but I have to tell you a few important things about the samples, and what extra jobs you'll be picking up while I'm gone. First off you'll have to-" the professor was saying before Jake interrupted him.

"Woah, woah...slow down...Where are you going?" he asked. The professor hadn't mentioned anything before.

"Oh, yes, sorry," Dr. Hensley said over the phone, "I've been called to a meeting and I have to answer it. I can't say much because they haven't told me much, but it's nothing major I'm sure. They just don't like us telling people," he explained to the bear.

Jake just grumbled an OK. He talked with the professor for a bit, learning what extra jobs he would have to pick up while Dr. Hensley and his wife were gone. He would have to work for about six hours extra everyday this week, getting there three hours earlier and leaving three hours later. Jake hated the idea but agreed-hanging up on the professor, who thanked him gratuitously. He got out of bed early, and quickly drove off to work.

The day progressed and Jake finished his work. He closed up the lab and made sure to disinfect everything he had used. It was eight; Jake sighed realizing this was how it would be the rest of the week-getting up around four to work and ending at five. He drove away and grabbed a bite to eat through a drive through. "I guess it's nothing but fast food this week..." he said with a sigh then heard his phone ringing. He picked up and saw that Lucas was calling, "Hey,"

"Hey, how's it going?" Lucas asked.

Jake chuckled a bit, "I guess it could be worse..."

"What's wrong?" Jake heard a voice ask. He realized he was on speaker and then recognized it as Mrs. Vadikson; she was always the first one to pick up on his tone if something was wrong. As much as he enjoyed that aspect of her it was also scary to him.

"Well, the professor left me to go on some conference and now I'm stuck pulling his workload also, and his wife's also...so I'm getting up around four and leaving work around eight. I'll be doing that this entire week," he replied with a sigh.

"That doesn't sound right...to make a student do that much work," another voice said, Mr. Vadikson.

"It's not a big-deal I guess. I mean, most of the time I'm stuck watching dishes grow and then looking at them in a microscope...it's all very slow work anyway. But that's just my life...how is everyone doing?" he asked-asking everyone at once. He heard them all responding at once and suppressed a laugh at how it sounded.

The conversation went on for a few minutes and then it was just Jake and Lucas talking. Jake talked with the wolf as he ate his food. They exchanged stories about what had happened throughout the day, and joked around a bit. After a talking for a bit more Jake said he was tired and wanted to get some sleep. "Night Love," he said again without thinking, but this time waited for Lucas to say good-bye.

Lucas felt a smile on his muzzle, "Night Big-guy," he said and hung-up. The first time Jake had called him 'love' took him by surprise but he was used to it now, and enjoyed it.

The rest of the week passed by slowly and painfully, Jake did his work as diligently as he could, but found himself yawning by Wednesday. He began to drink a cup of coffee every morning before he went in-something he never did before. He hated that he couldn't eat at the lab, but understood that it wasn't a smart choice to anyway. He even had to work on the weekends now, but just to check up on everything and make sure it was all secure. Dr. Hensley and his wife came back on the following Wednesday.

"Thank you so much for all this...I'm sorry, the meeting came by complete surprise and-" Dr. Hensley was saying before Jake stopped him.

"It was no trouble," Jake said-not wanting to be thanked too much.

"Well please take a week off for me...with pay of course," Dr. Hensley continued.

"I couldn't...I was just doing-" Jake was trying to say but Dr. Hensley's wife interrupted him.

"Don't argue. If you're worried about us doing too much work then don't. You did the work that all of us usually do for a week, so splitting it between me and my husband is nothing. Take a week off and rest," she said in a kind voice-but it was also evident that it was a command.

Jake just nodded his head. He was silently happy for the week off. He walked out of the building and decided to call Lucas. After a few rings the phone picked up, "Hey Lucas," Jake said immediately.

"Good to hear from you Big-guy...but do you realize I'm working? And speaking of work, I thought phones weren't allowed in your area,"

"They aren't, but the professor gave me a week off...sorry it just slipped my mind that you're working," Jake said, still smiling.

"Oh, that's cool. Why don't you come down here for the week...I'm at work now but we're expecting the rest of the week to be slow," Lucas suggested.

Jake wanted to say yes, but stopped himself. "I don't want to impose," he said, but felt his smile slightly disappear. The offer was great but he didn't want to be a burden to the wolf's family.

"Well, I've got to get back to work, but don't think I've given up. I'm going to ask my parents then they'll force you to come over," Lucas said with a smile and hung up on the bear. He heard Sam and Alex yelling at him and he quickly ran over to help them.

Later that evening Jake answered his phone and before he said hello heard Lucas's parents saying it was fine for him to come over. "I...don't want to impose," Jake said again, but was chuckling.

"You wouldn't," Mr. Vadikson said and continued, "You could help do stuff around the house," he said calmly.

"Dad...you'd make him work? Slave driver," Lucas said with a chuckle.

"What? Jake's strong...and then he wouldn't feel like he's imposing...what do you say?" Mr. Vadikson said, asking Jake again.

"Ehh...I guess...if ya'll really don't mind,"

"Not at all," Mr. Vadikson said. "Head on over if you want,"

After that Jake talked with Lucas. He began to pack a quick bag for the week. He changed clothes deciding on a pair of jeans and a dark green button up shirt with a plain white shirt underneath, and was still talking to Lucas when he was driving down the road. "Well, I left around ten...so I should get there by four...Sorry, I hate to come in late,"

"Don't worry about it, I can stay up and wait for ya," Lucas replied with a smile.

They talked for a bit more, but after a bit Jake realized that Lucas had fallen asleep-the wolf did this frequently. Jake just smiled and hung-up the phone and enjoyed the quietness of the night. It was nice to drive on the highway at night, especially late at night-no one was ever on it besides a few stray cars. After a few hours Jake arrived at the Vadikson's house. He pulled up and turned off his car and sat there for a bit-the house was dark. Jake silently thought that he should've come later, but before his doubts could mature he saw a light come on. A door opened and someone began to walk towards him. Jake got out and grabbed his bag, and looked back at the figure that was approaching. He couldn't make out who it was though-not in the pitch black.

"Good to see you made it Kid," Mr. Vadikson said as he reached the bear.

Jake smiled as he heard the wolf's voice. He felt the wolf pat him on his back and lead him to the house. "Thanks for having me," he said as they walked up the drive way.

"It's our pleasure. It'll be nice to have you around for a week. So how's life? You fare well without our son?" Mr. Vadikson asked. He looked back at Jake for a moment and then laughed.

Jake laughed too, but felt like there was something behind it. Mr. Vadikson didn't unnerve the bear as much as he did when he first met him. He still asked some things that got to the bear but he was able to dismiss most of them now. "Well, it's a lot quieter now, I'll say that much. And life is going well," Jake said with a chuckle.

"That's good, that's good," the wolf said as they walked inside. He turned around to the bear, "Well, I guess you can sleep in Lucas's room. I'm sure you're tired from your trip, and I know I'm tired,"

"You stayed up for me?" Jake asked filling guilty.

"Well, I fell asleep in here waiting for you. Don't worry about it; I was more than happy to," Mr. Vadikson said. He began to walk off, and saw that Jake was sitting on the couch-yawning. "You going to sleep there?" he asked.

"If you don't mind...I don't want to make anyone else lose sleep," Jake said, waiting to see Mr. Vadikson's response.

"OK, just get some sleep," Mr. Vadikson responded and walked off. He stopped in the hallway and saw the bear lie down. He liked the bear, like a second son. He felt a smile on his muzzle. He thought more about the bear and his son, but pushed the thoughts away for the time-sleep taking priority.

Jake lay down on the couch and realized how tired he was. As soon as he closed his eyes he was asleep. He woke up later and sat up, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He looked around and didn't see anybody or hear anybody, and saw that it was bright outside. Seeing the lights he winced and grabbed for his glasses and panicked for a moment when he didn't find them. He looked around and then saw them on the floor and quickly put them on. He stood up and walked around the house, looking for a clock to see the time. When he found one he saw that it was already two.

Jake was surprised that Ana wasn't around, but didn't think much on it. He sat down on the couch again and decided to watch some TV. After about thirty minutes of watching TV, another crime show, he heard the door open. He turned off the TV and turned around tried to see who it was. Becoming slightly nervous he got up when he didn't see anyone. He walked around and then felt something jump on his back, and then realized he was on the ground. He let out a sigh, but felt a grin covering his muzzle, "It's good to see you too," he said.

"Hey there Big-guy," Lucas said as he lay on the bear. He began to rub the bear's sides and leaned next to Jake's ear, "I've missed you,"

Jake chuckled and let out a happy growl, "I can tell," he replied. Jake could smell something in the air, it was Lucas. The wolf had probably been working hard today from how strong it was.

Lucas got off the bear who turned around, and Lucas helped him up. Lucas pulled the bear into a quick hug, "So how have you been Big-guy?"

"You talk to me everyday..." Jake said with a chuckle as he returned the hug.

Lucas felt himself being pulled closer to the bear, happy, "Yeah, but it's no-" he began before he felt himself being pulled into a kiss. It was quick and deep, but it didn't surprise him-rather expecting it. He wrapped his arms tighter around the bear and let out a moan as he returned the kiss.

Jake wanted to continue the kiss but pulled away after a moment, and smiled at the wolf. He felt his shirt becoming damp and realized that Lucas was sweating, making the scent much stronger to him. He loosened his grip on the wolf and held him in a weaker embrace, but more content, "It really is good to see you..." he said more calmly.

Lucas smiled at the bear, "Yeah it is, and as I was saying; it's not the same as being with you," he replied then pulled out of the embrace hesitantly, "So, have you eaten?"

Jake shook his head and they got something to eat quickly. After ward they sat down at the couch, "So you don't have a busy week?" Jake asked as he relaxed onto the wolf.

Lucas casually wrapped his arms around the bear, "I have to work, but nothing much. But you...you got a week off. I'm jealous," Lucas said with a chuckle.

"I guess we haven't seen each other in almost two months," Jake said and nuzzled the wolf.

"And after you leave we still have almost two months to go...well at least we meet at a half-way mark,"

Jake laughed and nodded. They didn't say much, sitting there and enjoying their company. After a moment Jake leaned up and began to kiss the wolf lightly and playfully.

Lucas laughed but didn't pull away; "What are you doing?" he asked as he laughed.

"I'm just happy to see you," Jake said, with a grin. He knew it sounded cheesy but it was true. He had missed the wolf and was glad to see him again. He continued to kiss the wolf lightly and felt Lucas begin to rub his chest.

Lucas slowly began to return the kisses, neither one paying any attention to the TV now. He felt the bear turn over so that they were face to face. Lucas leaned down on the couch, laying down now. His embrace on the bear increased and the kiss increased in passion.

Jake felt the wolf's musk running through his nose as he breathed in, making him increase his efforts. The kiss continued and Jake began to run his paws over the wolf, moving his paws under the wolf's shirt. He let out a moan as the wolf's own paws ran across his body and pulled on his shirt. After a moment Lucas broke the kiss, but Jake continued to kiss the wolf along his neck.

"Let's go to my room," Lucas said as he pulled on the bear. He saw Jake nod and get off him. They began to move to the room. Lucas walked in front of Jake and felt the bear right behind him-feeling his breath on his neck. As soon as he got in the room he felt Jake bring him into an embrace again and nuzzling him. Lucas was able to turn around in the bear's arms and pulled Jake to the bed. He pulled Jake down with him and smiled, "You have missed me haven't you?" Lucas asked with a chuckle.

Jake pulled away from the wolf and looked at him, "I haven't been with you in two months, what can I say...it's been a long two months," he said with a grin.

Lucas chuckled and kissed the bear lightly, "It has," he replied as he ran a paw over the bear and under his shirt. He pulled on it and Jake quickly took it off and helped Lucas with his. He felt the bear's head buried in his chest, Jake breathing in his scent, and the bear's cock pressing against his body. "You're ready to go," he said with a chuckle.

"Two months of pressure built up," Jake said, blushing about telling Lucas he hadn't shot since seeing the wolf. He felt the wolf's own cock pressing against him and rubbed on the wolf, making Lucas moan. He kissed Lucas again, more deeply. Jake didn't say anything more, instead running his paws down to Lucas's pants and quickly undoing them. He felt the wolf's cock spring forward as he took off the boxers and wrapped his paw around the member, and heard the wolf moan into the kiss. Jake pulled from the kiss and was about to move down to Lucas's cock when Lucas stopped him. Jake looked at Lucas, confused, but got what the wolf wanted after a second. He took off his pants and briefs and moved down to the wolf's cock and moved his own cock in front of Lucas's muzzle. He licked the cock a few times, and then took it into his muzzle, making the wolf below him shudder. Jake didn't bother trying to keep to a pace, letting his lust lead him.

Lucas immediately began to thrust into Jake's muzzle-the bear was right; it had been a long two months, and he had built up pressure too. He lapped at the bear's cock that was leaking a stream of pre onto his lips. The taste was the same as usual but it seemed stronger, Lucas just guessed it was because they hadn't been with each other in awhile. He let out a moan as the flavor ran over his tongue and increased his efforts, but then moved to the bear's sack and began to lap over it. He took the sack into his muzzle and rolled the bear's balls around in his muzzle, making Jake moan. He could still see the bear's cock-a line of pre dripping onto his collar. He could hear the bear whining around his cock and then pull off it.

"Tease..." Jake said through a moan as the wolf played with his balls.

Lucas stopped and smiled at the bear, "You know you love it," he replied.

Jake smiled at Lucas, and was about to respond but it was drowned out by a moan as Lucas finally took his cock into his muzzle. Jake shuddered at the feeling. He returned to the wolf's cock, feeling Lucas's cock move in and out of his muzzle. He bobbed his head along with the rhythm of Lucas's thrust, deepthroating the wolf every time he went down and licking along the tip every time he went up. The musk was much stronger and made Jake feel dizzy as he inhaled as much as he could. He kept the flavor of the wolf's pre on his tongue and continued his treatment-feeling the cock throb as his tongue wrapped around it.

Lucas continued a steady rhythm into Jake's muzzle for as long as he could, but knew he wouldn't last long. He hadn't shot since the last time with Jake either-he didn't think about pawing off, he wasn't a pup anymore, and he wasn't interested in just getting off now. He moaned as he felt his cock be engulfed by the bear. Lucas run his tongue up along the base of Jake's cock and around the tip, Jake moaning as he did. Suddenly the bear's pace increased and Jake gave a longer, louder moan. Lucas felt the cock in his muzzle flare and begin to shoot-bucking into Lucas's muzzle. He was surprised by how much there was, struggling to swallow it all. The taste was strong and the bear gave a growl as he shot his load, and Lucas gave a moan of his own. He continued to swallow but couldn't swallow it all, some coming out his muzzle and sliding down his lips and chin. Even once Jake's orgasm faded Lucas held a heft amount in his muzzle-Lucas guessed Jake wasn't kidding about the built up pressure. Once the bear's pace steadied Lucas continued to suck on the cock, moaning as Jake's attention focused on his own member.

Jake continued to thrust into the wolf even after his orgasm faded, giving grunts of pleasure as Lucas continued to suck on his cock. He alternated from quick and light licks to long slow slurps on the wolf's cock, all making Lucas moan. Jake gave a moan of approval as the wolf began to thrust into his muzzle again. He could taste the pre coming out of the wolf's cock in a steady stream. Jake moved down and deepthroated the wolf again, and then swallowed around the member-his throat muscles tightening around Lucas's cock and making him give a whine of pleasure. He felt Lucas buck once into his muzzle, and knew the wolf wouldn't last long. Lucas's pace began to increase and Jake increased his efforts along with it.

Lucas still sucked on the bear's cock-that was slowly receding back into its sheath. He let out a whine as his own cock began to throb as Jake quickly worked it towards its orgasm. He began to buck into Jake's maw as his orgasm flooded throughout him, the feelings overpowering him. He felt the first of his load being shot into the bear's muzzle as he let out a series of grunts around Jake's cock. He heard Jake moan as the cum came out in shots, filling Jake's muzzle, and could still feel the bear's tongue running around his cock-making Lucas moan.

Jake swallowed as much as he could and what he couldn't he let shoot into his muzzle and land on his tongue. He let out a moan at the taste. After Lucas stopped thrusting into him he stayed on the cock-teasingly licking and playing with Lucas. He felt his own cock, half hard, from Lucas's treatment stop its recession into his sheath and being to grow again. He pulled off Lucas's cock and turned around to see the wolf, who had cum on his chin and muzzle. Jake smiled and licked Lucas's muzzle clean, and then kissed the wolf-tasting a mixture of their seed. He pulled from the kiss and nuzzled Lucas, "I know this must sound cliché after sex, or just unromantic, but I don't think I've said this to you, face to face, in awhile," Jake said and leaned in to Lucas's ear, "I love you," he finished with a whisper.

Lucas hugged the bear, "I know you do," he said and smiled.

Jake pulled from the hug, faking a frown, "What? I don't get one back?"

"Nope, but you get this," Lucas said and brought Jake into another kiss. The kiss was deep, both pulling each other closer. He played with the bear's tongue, both massaging each others. Lucas roamed his paws over Jake and pulled on his fur, making the bear moan. After a few minutes he pulled away and smiled at him, "but if it helps you feel better; I love you too," he said then kissed Jake on the lips again.

Jake pulled Lucas playfully by his collar. He was about to respond when they both heard a door close. Jake quickly rolled off the wolf and began to put on his clothes, as the wolf went to the bathroom-his clothes in his arms. Jake quickly put on his clothes. He tried to be as discreet as possible when he walked out of the room, adjusting his shirt and glasses-wearing the same clothes as yesterday. He saw Mrs. Vadikson with some groceries, "Can I help you?" he asked with a smile.

Mrs. Vadikson put the bags down on the table and saw Jake, "Oh, Jake it's so good to see you again," she said and hugged the bear. She looked at Jake, "When did you get glasses?"

Jake was slightly taken back by the hug, but gently returned it. He looked at the wolf again, "About four months ago... I guess...that's a yes?"

Mrs. Vadikson smiled, "Sure, I could use it. I went into the store to buy two things and walk out with a hundred...does that ever happen to you?" she asked with a chuckle as they walked to the car. She handed Jake a few bags and he walked back into the house with them. He walked in and set them on the table then went to get some more, wanting to help as much as possible. After a few minutes they finished bringing them in and began to put up the groceries and Lucas walked out. Mrs. Vadikson smiled at her son, "Where have you been?"

Lucas smiled at his mother in return, "I was using the bathroom," he replied and helped them put up. Once they were done they sat around and talked for a bit. Mrs. Vadikson asked Jake how work was and the usual questions. After a bit the door opened again and Mr. Vadikson came in. He sat down and kissed Mrs. Vadikson on the cheek before saying hello to everyone.

Jake looked around curiously, "Where is Ana?" he asked. It was strange to not see the pup around.

"Oh, she's at a friend's house for a few days," Mr. Vadikson said as he walked over and grabbed a glass and filled it with water.

Jake nodded, his curiosity satisfied. They talked for a bit and then Mrs. Vadikson got up and began to fix supper. Jake offered to help, now knowing his way around the kitchen but Mrs. Vadikson told him she was fine, and Lucas joked about how supper was better when not burnt. Jake looked over at the wolf, "I've actually started cooking...I'm not that bad," he said defensively.

"Well you can show me later, once I return to college," Lucas said with a laugh.

Mr. Vadikson cut in now, "Hey, would you two mind helping me with a project tonight?" he asked, his eyes looking at the bear.

Jake nodded, "What do you need help with...if I can ask..." he said, but did notice Mr. Vadikson's eyes.

"Oh, nothing major. I just need ya'll to help me in town. We bought another couch, a smaller one, to put in the living room, and I want ya'll there to help me load it in the truck," Mr. Vadikson replied.

"Sure, sounds easy Dad," Lucas said with a laugh.

After a few more minutes supper was ready. They ate, talking and laughing with each other. Jake would occasionally rub his shoulder, thinking for some reason that they saw it, even though his shirts covered it easily. They talked about work and life and a few current events. Some how the topic came to family again and Mr. Vadikson looked over at Jake. He wanted to learn a bit about the bear, "How's your family?"

Jake looked back, "They're good...we have our issues but doesn't every family?"

"Aren't they sad not to see you over the summer?" Mr. Vadikson asked. He didn't really realize he was asking the questions, they just seemed to flow.

Jake thought he heard an underlying tone to the wolf's voice but couldn't place it and tried to hide a frown. "Not too much. They're just glad that I have a job I think. I've..." Jake began and looked for the right words, "never really got involved too much and I think the distance I give them is returned to me, which I guess just makes us a bit more distant...but it's a good family nonetheless" he said with a casual laugh.

Mr. Vadikson stared at Jake for a moment then nodded. "Why don't you let them get close?" he asked with a smile.

Jake grimaced, but before he could answer Mr. Vadikson was apologizing.

"I'm sorry...don't feel the need to answer that. Slip of the tongue," he said. He hadn't meant to ask. Sometimes the questions in his mind came out at the wrong time, when they should stay locked up. He looked over at his son who had a small frown on his muzzle.

"Well, actually...I never said I don't let them get close," Jake replied with a small, forced chuckle, "And its fine...I don't know why. I was kind of the loner in the family, I guess it's just my nature or something," Jake said, but didn't laugh this time.

"Well, that's not a bad thing," Mr. Vadikson said and changed the subject, "How did you two do, living together?"

"It's fun," Lucas said, and Jake nodded in return, both glad for a change in topic.

"So no troubles?" Mrs. Vadikson asked.

"Well, Lucas doesn't seem to improve any in the video games area...but besides that no," Jake said with a laugh.

Lucas punched the bear, "I have gotten better! I was able to beat you twice,"

"Wait, wait...and we played what? Fifteen matches...and how many times did I die because of some unforeseeable accident?" Jake asked with a laugh.

"Excuses," Lucas said with a scoff.

"Sounds like you two are doing well then," Mr. Vadikson said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, it's good," Jake said.

"So do you two know your schedules next year?" Mrs. Vadikson asked.

"No...not yet..." Jake said.

"But we have the same majors, and most of the same classes...we should have one or two together again," Lucas interjected.

"That's good. Not many people can live together like ya'll do and not have any problems. Ya'll certainly have chemistry," Mr. Vadikson said.

Jake blushed but mostly had a shocked look on his face and Lucas was just laughing.

"What? Is that not what you kids call connection these days?" Mr. Vadikson asked.

"No...not exactly..." Lucas replied.

Jake chuckled a little too.

"Well, I'm just glad ya'll didn't kill each other," Mr. Vadikson said.

"We tried...we started locking the doors," Jake joked, and Lucas laughed.

Mr. Vadikson laughed at this, a genuine thick laugh. He sat with his arms crossed and leaned back into his chair. He had a tuff of black fur puffing out the top of his shirt, and his sleeves were rolled up. "So what do you two plan to do this year?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" Jake asked.

"Just generally; what do you plan to do this year?" Mr. Vadikson asked.

"Well, hopefully we pass the classes and live...do we have any big plans this year Big-guy?" Lucas asked with a chuckle.

"I don't think so...should be like last year," Jake answered. He saw that Mrs. Vadikson seemed to be watching a bit intently-something about it seemed odd. He dismissed it and remembered something, "Oh, Lucas, Kyle called....For next year you may want to make the school send mail to our place...Kyle says he'll go crazy if he gets your mail for an entire another year,"

Lucas chuckled and nodded his head, "Ok, sounds good,"

"So, Jake, what are your plans for the future?" Mr. Vadikson asked.

Jake looked over at the wolf; he guessed this was just a follow-up question from the previous one which he hadn't answered too well. "Well, I'm majoring in Bio-engineering and once I graduate I plan to go back for graduate's school. Then I'm thinking on the next part. I could freelance a bit I guess, but I'm mostly interested in research, but I'm not sure what type. I could do diseases like I'm doing this summer, or I could work on experimental drug treatments, or I could manufacture horrible weapons for the government...hopefully not the latter," he said with a chuckle. He saw Mr. Vadikson nod, but besides that didn't seem to acknowledge the answer.

"And you Lucas? You're majoring, but have decided what you want to do with your life yet?" Mrs. Vadikson asked this time.

Lucas looked over at Jake and chuckled, "I think I'm basically going to follow Jake's plan; we have the same ideas...I want to try and improve peoples' lives... besides that I don't know...I'll do whatever work I can find though. Basically what Jake said...we both have the crazy idea to improve life as much as possible..."

"Well who doesn't want to make the world a better place? I don't like the idea that everybody is just looking out for themselves. That we are selfish, base animals crawling across the earth, but 'cause we've got brains, if we try really hard, we can usually aspire to something that is less than pure evil," Jake said with a laugh, trying to kill the seriousness of what he had said with a laugh.

Mr. Vadikson laughed at this, and nodded, but otherwise did not acknowledge the comment. He thought about what the bear said, it was smart, if not a bit pessimistic. He wanted to know Jake a bit more, and to see if he was right.

Jake looked over at Lucas, "So, will you have to work tomorrow? And how is work? You said you work with your friends?"

"Yeah, Sam and Alex, but we work at Gina's father's place. It's a good job I guess. Maybe not as intellectual as yours but I like it," Lucas replied casually.

Mr. Vadikson looked over at Jake, "I hear that Gina has a thing for you," he said with a chuckle and continued, "I heard you were able to avoid from getting involved with her; smart choice. Does Lucas have a special someone?" he asked.

Jake was glad he didn't blush, and looked at Mr. Vadikson, "He has a few 'special someones' I think," he replied with a laugh.

"Oh?" Mr. Vadikson asked with a chuckle. "Well, I'm sure he does. How about you Jake, you have anyone?" he asked; half-joking, half-serious.

Jake tried not to look at Lucas, and saw Mr. Vadikson looking at him with a small smile. "Yeah," Jake said with a smile, "but I think it's more correct to say that someone has me...I'm the lucky one, because my someone has stuck around," he said grinning.

Both Lucas's parents smiled lightly, and didn't respond. Jake saw that Mr. Vadikson's smile was a bit different though, he was staring at Jake. Jake ignored it and pushed it to the back of his mind. Mr. Vadikson smiled at the bear, he was happy to hear that, and noticed the bear's ambiguity in naming who he liked. Mr. Vadikson gave a small chuckle.

The conversation continued, but Jake felt slightly unnerved by the wolf. Something about what he had asked seemed strange, like he was searching for something. Jake dismissed it and after a few more minutes Mr. Vadikson stood up and looked at Lucas and Jake, "OK...lets get a move on,"

Jake nodded and thanked Mrs. Vadikson for the meal and followed the wolf out to the truck. They all got, the truck a tight fit for them. Jake sat in the middle, and felt completely squished. The mood felt different. It wasn't like it was at diner. Something about it seemed, off. He didn't know how to place it. They had drove for a bit before Mr. Vadikson looked at the fuel gauge, "Sorry...we'll need to stop real quickly and get some gas," he said.

They pulled into a gas station and began to fill up the truck. Everyone got out, and stood around as they waited for the truck to fill up with gas. Jake was surprised that they were the only ones around, besides a few people in the store. Mr. Vadikson looked at the two, "Hey, ya'll thirsty? If so get a drink, but regardless, Lucas, run inside and get me something to drink,"

Lucas nodded and looked at Jake, "You want something?"

"I'm fine," Jake said plainly as he leaned against the truck.

"OK, I'm going to grab a soda...what do you want Dad?" Lucas asked as he moved backwards.

"How about an energy drink?" Mr. Vadikson responded and threw his son his wallet.

"Those things will kill you," Lucas said with a chuckle as he caught the wallet and turned around and ran in the store.

Jake watched the wolf run off and gave a light smile. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the night, it was peaceful. He felt something though, nothing physical; that feeling that you get when someone is looking at you. Jake opened his eyes a bit and saw Mr. Vadikson staring at him. His face was different; he had a look of determination to him now.

Mr. Vadikson saw that Jake noticed the look and sighed a little, thinking about what to say. He took a breath, "Well Jake I'm not great at this sort of stuff, and I've told you that we like you; you're like family...and trust me Kid, you are..." he began.

Jake felt his stomach cringe, not sure what to expect. The wolf finally seemed to be confronting him; he had expected it sooner or later. He didn't know what Mr. Vadikson knew and that was the worst part. He knew the wolf wanted to know more about him and his past, but wasn't sure if it stopped there. He tried to keep a poker face but knew it wasn't very convincing. "But...?" he asked, and wished he hadn't said anything. His voice shook as he spoke, but there was also a growl in it, and Jake didn't know whether there was a fear or anger in his voice.

"There's no easy way to ask, but...Jake; my son....he's your 'special someone' isn't he?" Mr. Vadikson asked, just wanting to get it out.

Jake quickly wished he was inside with Lucas, or back home, or in some ditch, anywhere but here. He felt his heart begin to beat harder in his chest, threatening to break out, and tried to keep a calm appearance. He thought over what to do, Lucas hadn't told his parents had he? What would happen if he said yes? He knew the longer he waited to answer the wolf the worse it would get. Jake looked at Mr. Vadikson, trying to seem sure of himself, but could feel his eyes blur, and was glad the glasses hid it a bit. He was happy the wolf couldn't see his eyes, but then realized that his hands betray him; shaking beside him. Jake opened his mouth to speak but couldn't, and instead felt a growl rise in his chest, which surprised him. His mind raging a war over what to do or to say.

Mr. Vadikson knew the answer from the bear's reaction and could tell the bear didn't know what to do, but he didn't want to tell Jake it was OK either. He wanted the bear to answer him. Mr. Vadikson had suspected that Lucas and Jake were going out awhile back. Even before he met the bear he had a suspicion in him. With how Lucas acted around him and how Jake acted around Lucas, it was subtle, but it was there. He had suspected because of how they were around each other and knew the bear was protective of his son, and that it wasn't just because of the friendship. He had a hunch, which was more of a strong guess, but wanted to get it out in the air. He wanted to get an answer. He had even talked with his wife about it, who felt a similar feeling. It wasn't anger, just a curiosity. Mr. Vadikson had tried to be subtle also, hoping his son or Jake would just clear it up, but it never happened. He didn't really care what it meant about them, but he wanted to know. "Jake," he said again, trying to sound more gentle, "do you love my son?"

"I..." Jake said, and looked behind him, wanting to know what to do. He knew that it was too late to deny something between him and Lucas-his body betraying him as he talked. He wanted to say yes, but what it could mean for Lucas, Jake didn't want to hurt the wolf. He closed his eyes, wanting to block out the world around him.

Mr. Vadikson tried to be patient. He wanted to hear the bear's response, and had expected this kind of response in the first place. He had his answer and knew that Jake realized this, now wanting Jake to say something. He thought about trying to ask again but knew it wouldn't matter. He saw the bear open his eyes again, and could easily see that they were watering. He guessed that no one knew about the two, or that Jake didn't tell people about himself-which was evident from his actions. What he was asking of the bear must've been tough, and he silently felt bad for putting Jake in the position he was in.

"I...do..." Jake replied, scared. It was strange, to say it to someone, and to have someone who knew. To have a secret forcibly ripped away.

Mr. Vadikson smiled, it covering his muzzle, glad to hear the bear's response, and a bit happy he had guessed correctly. He moved up and patted the bear's shoulder, "OK," he said and was about to continue when Lucas came back.

"Hey, I got em..." Lucas said and looked around. He could tell that something had disturbed Jake. He looked over at his father, whose face wasn't showing any signs, trying to hide anything. Lucas walked up to the bear, "Jake?" he asked.

Jake looked over at Lucas, not sure what to say now. He looked between the two wolves, now feeling more vulnerable than ever. He tried to get his breath back to normal and after a few seconds was able to stop any shaking, but his face still felt open, like he finally wasn't wearing any masks. He took a deep breath, "Lucas..." he said and tried to continue, but found that was all he could say.

Lucas looked over at his father.

Before his son could ask Mr. Vadikson moved to the truck, "Come-on boys...let's go," he said. He wanted to get out of here, to go somewhere different. This wasn't the best place to ask the questions he had. When Jake and Lucas got in he drove away and to a local park, the one Lucas's friends hung-out at. Once they arrived he turned off the truck and got out, and the two others followed suit.

Jake was a bit calmer now, but now scared of what the wolf would do. They were somewhere isolated, and his mind ran to horrible thoughts. Jake stood in front of Lucas, and knew how crazy his own thoughts were.

"Son..." the father said, "I think we need to talk," he said.

"What's going on?" Lucas asked, still not sure why Jake was acting so strange, or why his father was the cause.

Jake looked down at the wolf, "Lucas...I'm sorry..." was all he managed this time.

Lucas felt his face drop and a feeling of shock run through him, but he quickly looked over at his father, "Dad..."

"I just want to talk with you two and not have to speak in riddles." Mr. Vadikson said and looked at his son more sternly, wanting a straight answer, "Are you and Jake together?"

Lucas looked over at Jake, and knew what had Jake shook up immediately. For some reason Lucas felt a bit calmer. He guessed it was because he wasn't like Jake. He was more open and didn't try to keep everything locked away, and he knew his father better than Jake knew the wolf. Something about his father knowing didn't surprise him, his father had always acted strange around the two, but he was still unnerved by the question. He looked at his father and nodded.

Mr. Vadikson smiled again, and walked up to the two and brought them into a hug, not saying anything. He could tell they were both surprised, both only standing there as he hugged them. He pulled away after a moment, "Why were ya'll keeping it a secret?" he asked.

"...You're OK with it...with..." Lucas asked, stuttering the words.

"What? I'm supposed to be angry? Shocked?" Mr. Vadikson asked, chuckling.

"How?" Jake said, his voice still shaking.

"You two are still young, I can tell by how you two act around each other, but you aren't answering my question; why the secret?" Mr. Vadikson asked again, more sternly.

"I-I thought it would disappoint ya'll. I don't know what ya'll think about it...you are OK with it...aren't you?" Lucas asked, looking down.

"I don't care that you like a guy or that you aren't attracted to girls...Lucas, we've told you time and time again; we just want you to be happy," Mr. Vadikson said.

Lucas looked at his father, and saw he was smiling. He felt a smile coming across his own muzzle. Before he realized it he was hugging his father, "Thank you," he said quietly.

Mr. Vadikson embraced his son and they stayed like that for a moment. When he broke it he saw Jake, staring off. He moved up to the bear, "Are you OK?"

Jake snapped back into reality and looked at the wolf, "I...don't know..." he said quietly, "So...ya'll don't hate me for this?" he asked.

Mr. Vadikson chuckled and hugged him also, "Of course not," he said and patted Jake, "You are like family, like we said," he replied.

Jake looked at Lucas, and tried to say something, but couldn't, still shocked by what was happening. Someone knew, someone knew and didn't care. He knew he should be happy but wasn't, still to confused to make since of what was happening. His eyes were still blurred, and now he was beginning to cry. He felt Mr. Vadikson, still hugging him. Jake returned the hug and felt himself cry a little, and Mr. Vadikson trying to soothe him.

After a bit Jake stopped crying, and Mr. Vadikson pulled away, "Jake, I'm glad my son has someone like you," he said and patted the bear.

Jake still didn't know if he could talk, still shocked, but tried. "I...already said I was the lucky one," he managed to say.

Mr. Vadikson chuckled, "OK...I'm not sure how the wife is going to react...do you two want to tell her?"

Lucas walked over to Jake and wrapped his arm around his shoulder, "I guess Mom deserves to know...how do you think she will react? I guess it dosen't matter. We can deal with that...can't we Big-guy?" he asked.

Jake felt a weak smile crawl across his muzzle and he leaned closer to Lucas, "I guess..."

Mr. Vadikson smiled at the two and chuckled, "Well, I wasn't lying, we really do have a couch to get...Come-on," he said, going back to his stern voice. He was happy though, that it was out in the open. He didn't care if his son was gay, it didn't matter to him. He was glad to see that they were happy together; he cared for the bear too. As they drove he would occasionally look over at them, Jake still shocked by what was happening, but slowly gaining his conscious. After a few minutes he looked back at Jake and chuckled, "You OK?"

Jake was able to smile this time, "Yeah...it...it just hasn't really sunk in yet I guess," he replied.

"Well, I'll say it again," Mr. Vadikson said, wanting Jake to understand it, "I'm happy for you two. I don't care if you're gay; I want you both to be happy and to be able to trust me and Mrs. Vadikson," he said with a smile.

Jake just nodded, but was smiling at the same time. He looked over at Lucas who had a large grin. Lucas looked over at his father, "Dad..." he said and waited for him to look over. "Thanks..." was all he managed to say.

Mr. Vadikson just smiled back. After a few minutes they got to where the couch was being held and got out to get. Mr. Vadikson signed for the couch, paid the manager, and then helped Jake and Lucas move it to the truck. The ride back to the house was quiet. They didn't speak but the mood was better than on the way. The air felt clear, for the first time in years, Jake felt like the air was clear. He let out a sigh and leaned his head against Lucas's shoulder, guessing there was nothing to hide.

Mr. Vadikson continued to drive, and looked over at the two again. He smiled at the sight, the two actually relaxing for once. The drive went quickly and they soon arrived at the house. They got out and Jake and Lucas moved the couch inside, the entire process taking them almost thirty minutes. When they finished they saw Mrs. Vadikson sitting next to her husband. Jake and Lucas saw while they were moving the couch and stopped outside to talk.

"Jake...I'm sorry. I didn't mean for this t-" Lucas tried to say.

"It's OK. I'm better now...it's still strange, though..." Jake said, leaning on the door.

"But they don't mind," Lucas added.

"I guess...or so they say..." Jake said, still skeptical.

"Well, let's go talk with them..." Lucas said and opened the door. He walked to the new couch and sat down, Jake sitting next to him. He saw his parents just looking at him, not giving any sign. Lucas chuckled lightly and unsurely. He began to play with his collar, fiddling with it, "I guess...we should talk or something..." he said.

Jake watched as Lucas's parents didn't respond, but it wasn't a horrible silence, it was bearable. Jake looked over at Lucas, and then back to his parents, "...I...," he began, struggling with each word. He paused and took a breath, "Lucas and I are mates, and yes I mean that in your terms,"

Lucas's parents still didn't say anything.

"I thought...you guys would hate me for it..." Lucas replied, looking at the floor.

"I convinced him to, it was my entire fault," Jake said, trying to take the blame.

Mr. Vadikson finally spoke, "Don't act like it's so bad. How are we supposed to be OK with it if you two are acting like you're carrying the plague?"

Both Jake and Lucas looked at each other, confused. They knew what the wolf meant though, just that he accepted them. Lucas looked over at his parents, "You guys...don't mind? Is it strange to you?"

His mother didn't say anything. She looked at Lucas, not really sure what to say about it, and then at Jake--seeing the bear as a new person. She had talked with Philip about it, but for it to be true. She looked at her son again, not sure how to react. For this to be true, it was too much to take in. She looked over at her husband thinking how he could be so calm, so accepting of it. Somehow it almost didn't seem like Lucas.

Mr. Vadikson spoke again, "There isn't much to say. We know about you two, and are fine with it, but you two are mates?"

Jake blushed lightly, and was about to speak before Lucas did, but the wolf looked at his parents and smiled a little; "Yes...I found my mate,"

It was silent for a moment before Lucas's parents just nodded. Mrs. Vadikson leaned over and whispered somethings into her husband's ear. Mr. Vadikson's ears flattened and he frowned, and glanced over at Lucas. The conversation ended at that. Jake looked over at Lucas who gestured for them to leave. They went to his room. Lucas walked over to where Jake was, forgetting to close the door, and Jake sat down on the bed, "That...was weird..."

"Are you OK with them knowing?"

"Nothing I could do about it now," Jake said, a weak laugh escaping him.

Lucas sat next to the bear, "True...but hey...look at the bright side," he said with a small chuckle, "We don't have to worry about hiding it anymore,"

Jake looked at Lucas, "Only your family knows though,"

"True," Lucas said and leaned on Jake.

"Do you want to tell your friends?" Jake asked.

"I don't want to tell them...I don't want to run out to the world and yell out that you and I are mates, but I don't want to deny it," Lucas replied.

"OK...If that's what you want," Jake said, lightly nuzzling the wolf.

Lucas felt the bear wrap his arms around him. He leaned into Jake's arms and let out a sigh then saw that he had forgot to close the door. He quickly got up and closed it, and went back to Jake.

"Why did you do that?"

"Just because they know doesn't mean I want to give them a front row seat to watch us..." Lucas said with a small chuckle. He felt Jake pull him back onto the bed and lightly bit on his ear.

"True," Jake said. He stopped biting the wolf's ear and leaned in closer, "I love you Lucas," he said in his whispering tone.

Lucas smiled and pushed back into Jake, "I love you too Big-guy,"

They fell asleep after a few moments. Lucas woke up the next morning and got out of the bear's arms. He walked into the kitchen were his father was. His father was sitting at the table, reading the paper and sipping his coffee.

"Morning," his father said.

"Morning..." Lucas replied. He looked at his father, who was acting like nothing was different. Lucas sat down, and his father looked up at him.

"Something up?" he asked.

"How long have you known?" Lucas asked.

His father's face stayed the same. He looked at his son, "Well, I didn't have confirmation till last night, but I had my suspicions when you went to see him over spring break, and while he was here...I had my theories..."

"So basically you've known the entire time..." Lucas said with a sigh. He had expected it almost, with how his father was. Even when he was a pup he never got away with anything, and couldn't lie to him. His father just knew. Lucas smiled lightly and looked at his father, "Thanks again Dad...it means a lot to me, and probably more to Jake," Lucas said.

Now Mr. Vadikson looked up, a bit confused. "What do you mean?"

Lucas's smile didn't go away, "Jake...will probably never tell his family...which is probably for the better from what I've seen. So for you guys to accept it...it means a lot to him, but...how's Mom...she didn't react last night.

Mr. Vadikson sighed at this, "You know how she is. She may not really be as OK with it as I am son..."

Lucas frowned a little. He hadn't expected his mother to welcome it with open arms.

"But no matter what; I'm here for you both," he replied with a small smile and sipped some of his coffee. He saw his son grin at this. He didn't see how it was a huge deal, but he knew that to both them it was huge. He was happy for them, and wanted them to be able to be themselves here. He looked at Lucas, "Lucas, don't hide who you are. It will never work well for you,"

"Personal experience?" Lucas asked, a bit curious.

"Just an old man's wisdom..." he replied with a chuckle.

"You aren't old enough to call yourself old yet..." Lucas replied with a laugh.

"Really? Thank goodness!" he replied and wiped his brow playfully. He looked at his son again, "When did you two decide to become mates?"

"A bit after spring break...are you OK with all this...really?" Lucas replied.

"That's good," Mr. Vadikson replied, a small smile on his lips. "I'm fine with it...so please stop asking. I love you and Jake both," he said, wanting to get it through to his son.

Lucas talked with his father for a bit, both enjoying the time together. He was happy to be able to talk with his dad and not worry about hiding anything. They both laughed a little and would joke with the other. They talked normally, and about things that they both were interested in. After a bit Lucas looked at his watch and sighed, "Well, I need to go to work...I should be back after a bit," he said.

"Have fun," Mr. Vadikson replied.

Lucas looked back one more time, "Thanks, for everything," he said and closed the door behind him.
