Loona's Love Life.
Chapter 17: Guardian Angel.

Alex stepped off of the train and smiled. Taking a deep breath of the sulfuric laced air made him feel at ease.
"_Feels good to be home."_He grabbed his rucksack full of gear, checked his own heavenly equipment, then disembarked the platform heading deeper into Pentagram City. Seeing as wasn't going to get a cab anytime soon, Alex decided to walk to his destination, a giant corporate building, dominating the landscape and towing above all others in the city. His long coat flapped in the breeze, gently hugging his celestial armor and hiding most of the metal plates from view. His heavenly glow however was still visible no matter how many layers he had between his armor and the world around him. He got plenty of stares as he made his way to Lucifer's palace, but luckily none of the demons seemed ready to stop his progress.
"So far so good." It took Alex about an hour of walking but he finally made it to the huge office building.
"Well it certainly befits the king of hell to have the biggest building around." He mumbled as he looked up to the top floor. Letting out an anxious sigh, he prayed that he looked presentable and walked into the building. Looking around the open floor plan he saw what looked like office cubicles off to one side and a small coffee shop on the other.
"This actually look's rather cozy."
"I hope so." The voice made Alex jump. He spun around to see a man as tall as he, clad in a white suit and black bow tie, a top hat adorning his blond haired head. He held out a hand and offered a smile. Alex hesitantly took his hand and gave it a firm shake.
"Uh hello." He offered as the man just laughed.
"Well son you came all this way to see me, and here I am." Alex was puzzled at first but glancing around he saw that all of the demons and sinners present were bowing. Putting two and two together, he quickly bowed.
"I'm sorry Lucifer, Sr, I uh didn't recognize you." Alex was shaking, while Lucifer let out a chuckle.
"Oh, no need for formalities." He grabbed Alex and pulled him back to his feet.
"Pleased to meet the Guardian that's going to be looking after my daughter." He then snapped his finger's and at once he and Alex were taken up to his executive suite. Alex had a bit of vertigo pass through him, but he soon got his head screwed on straight.
"Uh, Likewise." Alex said as he looked around, marveling at the various objects from all across human history. Lucifer went over to his desk and sat down, offering Alex a chair.
"So I hear that you're here on behalf of my father?" The acid in his voice was clear as day as he mentioned God, and Alex was quick to nod.
"Uh, Yes, he said that your daughter needed a bodyguard, and I volunteered." That got Lucifer's attention, making the smile he had widened.
"Really? Volunteer, you say?" He chuckled as he leaned back into his chair.
"Not many people would volunteer to come here." Alex began to sweat realizing that he may have said too much.
"I wonder, what would make you volunteer to come down here?" Alex thought it would be best to keep quiet, which made Lucifer smiled even more.
"I wonder if it has anything to do with that funeral a few of my subjects attended the other day." Alex squirmed as Lucifer let out a chuckle.
"Strange really for a request like that to come across my desk, but if it keeps my people happy then who am I to question what they do in the mortal realm." Alex remained silent his eye's locked onto Lucifer's, as he prayed that he wasn't talking about his friends.
"Even stranger still," He smirked, "A little bird told me that a hell hound of mine had gone and cried her eye's out at the occasion, professing her love to a human." This got Alex's attention.
"Wait she loves me?" He blurted out without even thinking. At once he shut up and Lucifer laughed.
"Ah yes, Love, the most powerful force in the universe." He gagged at the concept but the smile returned.
"I may have to pay them a visit, offer my condo-" His sentence was cut short however when he found a blade pointed at his face. Alex was on his feet and absolutely brimming with divine wrath.
"Don't. You. Touch. Her." He warned. This caused Lucifer to let out a truly heart felt laugh. He'd met many humans in his long life, and a few angels as well, and while a few of them had challenged him to a fight none of them had been this basin as raise a weapon to his face and threaten him. He simply took the blade in hand, giving a light hiss as the heavenly steel did its job, burning his unholy flesh, and with the flick of his wrist tossed the sword and Alex with it aside. At once he was on his feet and hovering over Alex's body as he got his breath back.
"Very interesting." He questioned as Alex took out a dagger and plunged it into Lucifer's chest. He simply looked at the dagger and smiled, reaching down and grabbing Alex by the throat. Holding him up he gave him a once over.
"Tell me, angelic warrior, is she worth it?" Alex simply nodded as he took the dagger out of Lucifer's chest and plunged it into his head. Lucifer just laughed as he dropped Alex to the floor. Taking the knife out of his head he handed it back to Alex who's anger had cooled down a little bit as he got his breath back. He looked from the dagger to Lucifer who was still grinning. He took it and put it back in its sheath and stood back up.
"Good, if your willing to fight even me to keep your loved one safe then I expect nothing less when you go to protect my daughter" Lucifer's smiled faded replaced by an evil frown.
"Are we clear?" Alex nodded as he grabbed his sword from the floor and put it back at his side. Lucifer's smile returned and he clapped for joy.
"Great, now that all of that formal drivel is over, care to join me for some celebratory champagne?" Alex was confused.
"What?" He asked as Lucifer just grinned.
"A test my dear boy, to see if you truly had what it takes to be the one to guard my most valuable asset." Alex was even more confused now, but he didn't question it, he just took a glass of champagne he was offered and the two gave a toast.
"To your renewed life in hell, may it be ever prosperous and built on the corpse's of your enemies!" Lucifer downed his glass in a single gulp, while Alex took his time. Once that was done Lucifer went over to his desk and puled out a file.
"Now, this has everything you need to know about the job, location, benefits, and other silly little details." Alex took the folder and skimmed through it. He then put it away in his coat and gave Lucifer a curious look.
"Uh thanks for accepting me back into hell." He rubbed the back of his head, a nervous gesture he had to get the hang of. Lucifer waved it off.
"Think nothing of it, my boy. After all, to separate young lovers forever." He fained guilt, "What kind of monster would I be to do such a thing?" His smile never wavered. His whole demeanor left Alex with a slightly bitter taste in his mouth, but for now, he would give Lucifer the respect he deserved. He bowed and Lucifer snapped his finger's one more time. This time the two of them were teleported to the parking garage.
"Now I assume you know how to drive, but that simply won't do for a man of your current position." He gave a whistle and almost immediately a car came screeching around the corner of the lower floors. Once it came to a stop in front of them a curious being stepped out of the driver's side door. At first, it looked like a dark mass, devoid of natural form, but it slowly congealed into the visage of a person and the voice that spoke from it sent chill's down Alex's spine.
"What are you order's, master?" It asked as Lucifer waved a hand over to Alex.
"This is my daughter's new bodyguard." Alex waved a hand, the shadow creature gave a nod.
"You are to drive him to his place of residence and then whenever he is called upon, to escort him and my daughter to wherever they are needed." The creature bowed and then motioned for Alex to get in the car. As he did so Alex turned and gave Lucifer a bow, he in return shrugged it off and waved back. Once Alex was inside the vehicle, the driver looked back,
"Where to?" Alex smiled as he thought of the one he'd liked to be most in all of hell right now.
"Take me to the I.M.P. building." The shadow man nodded and drove out of the parking garage, meanwhile, Lucifer had pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hello, Charlie dear, I have some excellent news!"
Loona sat at her desk and sighed. She'd had a few calls today, one new client that had come in to see blitz and one spam caller offering some new penis enhancement pill, she rerouted that call to Blitz and he hadn't come out of his office since. She rolled her eyes and flipped through her phone once more. As she went through her photo's she stopped as she came to one that made her smile. It was a simple one, of her and Alex taking a selfie together. They were in hell at the time, at a local park now that she remembered when it was taken. She began to tear up as she thought of never seeing him again.
"God, I hope you're happy." She took a deep breath and continued scrolling through her photos. A knock on the door caught her off guard, usually, people just barged right on in. In fact, the only person who ever knocked was...
"No," She shook her head. "Mind must be playing tricks on me." She then went back to her photos, however, the knock came again a few seconds later. Now she was nervous.
"Am I losing it?" She wondered but another knock was soon followed by a voice.
"Excuse me may I come in?" That voice! Loona's heart began to beat faster just from hearing it, but she shook her head again and pulled a gun from her desk.
"Come in." She failed to keep the fear from her voice and as the doorknob turned she felt her throat constrict. Time froze as the person entered the room, Loona's eye's glued to his own. He in turn looked absolutely shocked, nervous, and excited. The two of them didn't move, neither one spoke until a faint clang brought both of them back to the present.
"Alex!?" He looked over to a nearby door where Moxxie stood, his cup of coffee now lay discarded on the floor. He stood there as Alex simply nodded.
"H-h-hey guys." He held his arms out, "I'm back." He said as tears began to pour from his eyes. There was a choked sob from the corner of the room as Loona came from behind her desk and slowly made her way over to him. When she was finally a few inches from his face she just looked into his eyes. She then reached out and touched his chest, feeling the cold metal she then moved a hand to his face and felt soft flesh. Tears in her eyes now she grabbed him in a bear hug.
"Where the hell have you been?" She blubbered through tears as she nearly strangled him with her sheer strength. Alex was too happy to answer as he held her close and cried. The two of them stood there crying and hugging one another, Blitz hearing the commotion finally came out of his office.
"Ok what the fuck is-" He stopped however when he saw his daughter crying and hugging someone on the floor of his workplace. He got a closer look and nearly fainted.
"Holy shit!" He yelled sinking to his knees.
"Alex?" He asked as the man in question simply gave him a thumbs up. Loona let out a whine as she snuggled deeper into Alex's chest.
"How?" She asked as the two simply held each other. Instead of answering with words he simply gazed into her eyes, before pulling her into a kiss. The two of them stayed like that until Millie came in and gave a squeal of happiness and confusion. She was shocked to see someone kissing Loona but once she saw who it was she fainted. Alex and Loona broke the kiss and looked over at her.
"Oh, crumbs!" Moxxie went over to see if she was ok, while Loona clung to Alex like he was going to fade away. Alex understood and so he carried her over to Millie who was out cold. Moxxie took a breath and smiled
"Don't worry she'll be fine." He then looked over to Alex and whistled.
"How in the seven circles are you here?" He then scrunched his nose.
"And why do you look like an angel?" Alex chuckled as he took his sword off and leaned it against the nearby wall.
"It's a long story, but to shorten it, I am an angel, and I've been assigned here by God to look after Lucifer's daughter." Loona's tail wagged as she sat there in Alex's lap, and he began to stroke her hair. Blitz walked over and Moxxie grabbed Millie and propped her up to make sure she was still breathing properly. Once that was done no one said a word. They were all too happy. The warmth and love they radiated was felt by the few other people in the building and it made them sick, but sadly for them, the members of I.M.P. didn't care. They had one of their best friends and employees back, anyone that had a problem with that could go to double hell.
As Alex, Loona, Moxxie and Blitz were catching up something was stirring in one of the deepest pits of hell, something ancient, something evil. This being began to take shape and form, into that of a hideous beast. It took on the appearance of something from nightmares, a creature of undefined form or shape, that broke what few laws of reality hell had. An ever shifting blob of teeth, tentacles, and screams. This creature was absolutely terrifying, but something had roused it from it's slumber, and it greatly disliked being disturbed. Scanning the area around it with one of its many eyes it soon locked onto a single figure standing off in the darkness. At once it pounced upon the unsuspecting victim. This however proved to be disastrous as the creature let out a scream of agony, as it's body was slowly punctures by thousands of spikes.
"Oh, good your awake." The person looked the creature on one of its eyes and the creature recoiled as where a face should have been there was instead a mass of swirling purple smoke.
"I have need of your power," It said as it snapped it's finger's and the spikes tour the creature apart. Viscera and dead flesh landed all around the person but they did not care. They simply strolled through the blood and gore and scooped up a small pulsating spherical object that was once inside of the creature. Sophia smiled as she took the heart and began to devour it. As soon as it was gone she felt a wellspring of power flood her non corporeal form and give her a much needed power boost. She smiled as she felt more of her body return to her.
"Soon, very soon I will have the power to rival gods." She let out a guttural cackle as she strolled though Hell's void, a place where monster's and beings never meant to see god's light dwelled, a place that up till now had no boogeyman. She however was here to change that, devouring one eldritch horror at a time. It brought a twisted smile to her face.
"Soon I will have my revenge."
