Chapter Two
#2 of The Queen and Her Alpha
Chapter Two
Luka-
Early mornings were always Luka's favorite time of day. Hating them with a passion before Ashryn was in his life. Now he spent his mornings curling up with his beautiful Elf.
Waking to sunlight peering through the glass window behind their bed Luka blinked his eyes open. He laid on his side with Ashryn tucked in against his body. It was odd how he could curl her away so easily with being so much taller. Running his paw down her bare hip he caressed her skin.
"Morning my Draug."
Her soft voice spoke his nickname. It was the elvish word for wolf. Her wolf. He rumbled with a gentle sound and nuzzled his head into her neck. He could feel her smile against him. Luka had fallen in and out of love before. Being over six hundred years old love was not an unfamiliar feeling, but the feelings he held for Ashryn was something different. She put it so perfectly. His heart sang for her.
He danced his clawed fingers across her skin until she lifted her head to look at him. She smiled making him fall further in love with her. Gentle finger tips traced the corner of his eye as she spoke.
"Did sleep find you well?"
"Yes, after our amazing night together, who could deny sleep's call?"
Luka watched her cheeks turn a soft rose color as her eyes darted away from his. Still after years together it was easy for him to make her blush and smile.
"Good to have you back beside me. This bed is large without you. And the mornings...always so special with you. How could I have gone without this..."
He laid his ears back against his head and nudged his muzzle under her chin. Ashryn had only a few times expressed how sad she was before she had fallen for him. Toper was a harsh an often abusive King. Luka made it his goal to wipe her memory of those years of suffering. He would do anything for her.
Moving slowly he pushed his nose against her bare shoulder. Ashryn reacted to the chill of his skin and nudged him away.
"Stop, why do you always do that?"
"Because you hate it."
He teased moving to lean up on his elbow. Smiling down at her.
"You are lucky that I approve of your touches."
"No one else I'd rather touch than you M'lady."
He watched her smile her beautiful smile again. Making his heart sing in his chest. She moved to her back beside him and stared lovingly up a him.
"What would you like to do today? Chase each other in the corn fields? Thea started her sweet logs. She gave me some yesterday but I'm sure I can con some more out of her. Or we can visit the school. I do enjoy seeing Lycan puppies run around."
Luka smiled down at her and simply replied.
"Anything that makes you happy I will do."
"You are the sweetest thing."
Ashryn laughed and reached up to pet his short whiskers.
"All those stories about how horrible and evil Lycans are...how can they be true?"
"You have seen me fierce M'lady. There are times when we are violent but it is only to protect what is ours."
"Always a joy to see you battle in my honor King."
Ashryn ran her hand down his chest and stomach. Luka purred a growl out and slid his tongue across her neck.
"I will carve your name in their bones."
He felt her body shiver as her eyes grew lustful. Her warm mouth parted slightly and he could not help himself. He moved sharply. Cupping her face in his big paw he slipped his tongue into her mouth. Ashryn let out a gentle moan pushing her hand down his stomach to just above his sheath. She wanted him and he would never say no to her. Luka let out a growl and stared her down.
"Is Kiara due any time soon?"
"She knows not to bother me the morning after you come home."
Ashryn gave him a wicked smile, her eyes full of passion.
"She remembers you sneaking out of my room in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes your fur still wet with want."
Luka sighed softly. She was perfect for him and could not be happier that she was his. He ran his paw through her long hair. Tucking it behind her pointed ears.
"Alone time. Good."
Leaning in slowly he pressed her into a kiss.
It had taken a few days at the start of their relationship to learn how to be physical with such different body shapes. Now that it had been years Luka knew no one else could excite him like Ashryn. She was not as wild as him but she had mastered what he liked in no time.
Ashryn suddenly pulled their blanket away from his body and held his heavy sac in her hand. He grunted in surprise which just made her laugh.
"Relax Draug. You know I love your soft fur down here."
"Sure it's not other things?"
"Them too."
She said with a giggle.

Luka followed Ashryn to their throne room after their eventful morning. Ready to start his duties. Lying with Ashryn in such a way made him always feel like a king. She was this tiny little green eyed elf. Two whole feet shorter than him and at least 200lbs lighter. The top of her head came to just under his chest line so he always had to look down upon her. She made him feel so powerful and in turn having him under her paw made others see her differently. Having control over a Lycan was unheard of. Known to be wild and loyal to their own kind. Ashryn having taken him as her King was a first. She was an interesting elf. Luka had known many in his lifetime but she was the first to be so willing to be with him. The physical design alone of his full pelt made anyone outside his race wary to lay with him. But she seemed to make it work so well.
As Luka followed Ashryn into the throne room Kiara appeared beside them. He was still a bit wary of Kiara but Ashryn trusted her with her life. The throne room was not a grand hall like other Keeps. The walls covered in allied hold's flags and beasts Luka had killed to protect their own Keep. Luka had no throne as he preferred to stand beside Ashryn as she sat. She argued against him for a while but eventually Luka won. Her throne was a larger wooden chair with different arrows pinned behind her. Arrows that had taken lives of those who would cross Lyonhall Keep. A reminder to those who visit what Ashryn was capable of.
"Good morning your majesties. We have a few things for you this morning."
Kiara bowed her head to them as Ashryn settled in her throne. Luka stood just beside her, his rightful place. He stood silent as she commanded over the keep. Is was her keep.
"Proceed."
"Crystal Keep is sending two guards and their duke to begin working up a trade route. They will arrive late tonight."
"We can speak in the morning."
Ashryn answered with a nod.
"I will be truthful. I do not hold out much hope for their trade route. Do we know whom has taken the throne?"
"An Elf M'lady."
Kiara's eyes scanned through the book she held quickly.
"King Brecken. 167 year old wood elf. Rose to the throne by rallying the citizens against the old king. He's commanded for six months now."
Luka watched Ashryn nod, her eyes far off. Deep in thought. His ears perked up as the door opened. Arnold entered with a few Guru behind him. Ashryn looked up as he made his way towards her.
"M'lady. Our two new Betas. Rogue and his brother Roger."
Luka watched Ashryn meet his eyes and give him a small smile.
"Your turn King."
He stepped down the small stairs and gave a soft growl. His brethren tightened and exposed their throats to their Alpha.
"You two have worked hard to get this position. We never become Betas...we are always the slaves. Remain prideful but humble my brothers. You tread where many will never step."
Luka watched them both lower their heads in respect and say together.
"Thank you Alpha."
Luka returned to Ashryn's side and felt her touch his arm.
"Strong choices as always my king. Approved."
Ashryn finished up her morning tasks within the hour. Luka enjoyed watching her work but he was a Lycan. Being inside for too long always made him anxious.
Kiara settled at her desk a few feet away from the throne to work on her notes. Ashryn looked up to him and gave a soft sigh.
"Are you ready for our meeting tomorrow morning?"
"Yes, it is always fun to entertain new visitors."
Ashryn laughed then said.
"I look forwards to seeing their faces when it is you who stands beside me. People rarely ever believe there is such a thing as a Lycan King."
Luka leaned his head down and gently nuzzled her neck.
"I command my own kind. This Keep is yours M'lady."
"Even harder for people to believe."
Ashryn scratched the fur under his neck.
"A queen in command. Unheard of."
"Many things here are unheard of."
Luka joked giving her a smile. She returned his smile and kissed his muzzle.
"True. Let us go eat some breakfast. We are free of duty until dinner time tonight. Let's take a stroll of our grounds. See how our people are doing."
Luka nodded and held a paw out to her.
"Of course. Anything for you."
She made his heart beat strong as she smiled at him.
"I adore you Draug. No one else I'd rather have at my side."

Spring was an interesting time for Luka. His race's mating season was in spring. Males would grow in size and release a mating pheromone to attract females to them. Once a male had locked with a female and sired children the pheromone would stop. But for Luka it was different. His scent remained since he could not breed with an Elf. It was the trigger of children that would stop his mating heat. Locking alone only prolonged it. Only lasting a month for most males Luka's would end in 6-7 weeks. Which in turn meant the non-mated females would swoon over him, well after their mating season ended. They would pick up his scent and make sure to say hello to him on the streets. Mostly respectful since he was an Alpha as well as their King, but every now and then he could have to warn off one of his own kind. Ashryn enjoyed his mating season. Seeing as how they would never produce children, she was free to lay with him as often as she wanted. Usually this was when she allowed him to take control in the bedroom. His feral side ready to make her scream his name nightly.
Luka enjoyed it as much as Ashryn did. Able to be himself and not have to hide who or what he was made him finally feel 100% complete. His love for his queen unmatched, he would do anything for her.
"Keeping up back there?
Luka's ears perked up on his head as Ashryn called out to him. He had not noticed he had fallen behind.
"Yes, lost in thought."
Ashryn lead him into the market just outside the castle. Where all trades happened. Shops from all around Kraus popped up in their market. With so many different races and people within the Keep, it a cornucopia of all types of cultures.
Luka caught up to Ashryn as she mused over towards a few long rugs.
"I like these..."
She murmured touching the soft fabric. Luka chuckled and nudged her shoulder with his snout.
"We could use another rug M'lady."
"Oh! Your majesty!"
The shop keeper, an older human woman bowed her head quickly. Grey curls falling over her face.
"I didn't release it was you. Forgive me."
Ashryn just smiled at the older human and shook her head.
"It's fine. I am known to be somewhat of a sneak. These rugs are beautiful! What is your name?"
Luka let Ashryn make friends as he turned his gaze to the market square. A small fountain sat in the middle of their square with an infinity symbol reflecting off the small over hang above it. Everlasting, like Lyonhall. Luka enjoyed his life now. Running wild took a toll on the soul. Now that he had Ashryn his heart was light and his spirit more free than ever.
Few Lycans roamed the square buying goods or setting up their own trade stand. He stopped finding a fire red female staring back over at him. Her dark eyes narrowed on him as her lip raised. Showing teeth. Luka furrowed his brows and held eye contact with the female. Unsure of the reason behind her aggression.
"Draug!"
Luka's eyes snapped back to Ashryn who stared up at him.
"Pay attention. Marcy wants to give us two rugs."
"We will buy them."
Luka responded giving the human a smile.
"We get enough gifts being royalty."
"If you are sure..."
Marcy looked so happy. Luka looked to Ashryn who smiled at him. She loved making her people happy and it just spilled over into him sometimes.
"We are sure."
"Oh thank you. I will give an honorable discount of course, but thank you."
Luka watched Ashryn go through her small pouch for coins then felt someone stand behind him. He tensed up and turned quickly.
"Hello Alpha."
The red female from before bowed her head beside him. Her dark brown eyes seemed softer now. No teeth shown.
"If this is about him being in heat, I will make sure topersonally skin you alive."
Ashryn hissed before Luka could even speak. He looked to her as she stared down the much taller female Lycan. Fearless.
"Apologizes my queen."
Her head bowed instantly. Eyes to the ground.
"You may go."
Luka said kindly. He was more sympatric to his race. He knew these feelings were driven by nothing other than primal instinct. Ashryn was an elf. They bred whenever they felt the time was right. No primal call of nature so to say.
"Apologizes again."
She turned and left with a bow of her head. Ashryn grabbed Luka's paw and said.
"Time to keep you inside again Draug?"
"I believe so."
He turned back to Marcy who had just watched all that unfold in stunned silence. She blinked a few times at him then regained her composure. Luka gave her a kind smile and said.
"Lycan habits. Now, back to these rugs my queen desires."

Noon came and Luka followed Ashryn to the Lyonhall school. Children of all three races attended together. Learning of each race's history as well as basic reading, writing, and math. From age 3-15; Humans, Lycans, and Elf children were molded into caring and open minded adults that would further support Lyonhall. Ashryn spoke at the school usually monthly. Encouraging community and family values. This place thrives because of the people, not the royalty.
The school was hand built by Ashryn's great-great grandfather. A large stone building stood just beyond the castle market. Each stone had been placed perfectly to support the one beside it. Weathered but a sound structure. 5 large classrooms. Equipped with books from all races and cultures circled the auditorium/cafeteria.
Ashryn made her way into the school wandering the hall that made a loop around the entire building. Different colored pictures and drawings littered the walls. Luka kept pace with Ashryn and spoke up.
"We have many artists in our midst it seems."
She smiled and looked back at him.
"I agree. Let's go say hello to the little ones. They always are happy to see you."
"It is good for my kind to see one of us placed so highly. Gives the younglings hope."
"You inspire many. Such a proud king."
Her voice held a teasing tone. Luka let out a laugh.
"I am."
Ashryn nodded coming to the 3-6 year old's classroom door.
"I can tell, so can others. You are a prime example of a Lycan."
"All thanks to you and your family M'lady."
Luka quickly closed the space between them and nudged his muzzle into her chest.
"I strive because of you. My race sees an end to suffering after eons. You are my queen and I care for you like no other."
Her face turned pink with color as she laughed and hugged into his body.
"I adore you Draug. My proud Lycan. But enough, we have younglings to see."
Of course."
