"There you are!" Mike exclaimed with delight, his eyes lighting up as he spotted the familiar orange face of Leena emerging from one of the fitting marquees. He quickened his pace to reach her, her orange scaled neck contrasting against the graduation gown she wore.

"Well, don't you just look..." he trailed off, his words faltering as he noticed the sudden disapproving stare Leena directed his way.

"I look ridiculous," she said flatly, casting a downcast gaze at Mike, whose black graduation gown fit him perfectly. Leena felt a pang of envy as she looked down at Mike's tidy appearance, emphasized by the green silk sash draped around his shoulders. The sash was embroidered in gold with the university's emblem, and the motto of the university.

Mike stepped closer to Leena, his hands gently reaching up to the base of her neck, as if to adjust her own green sash. But instead of focusing on the sash, he pulled her into a sneaky hug, embracing her strong neck with warmth and affection. "I'm sure it's very traditional," he whispered softly, attempting to soothe her frustration. In response, Leena's tension eased, and a black-scaled paw emerged from beneath her robes, wrapping around Mike's shoulders and held him close.

"Dragons have only been attending university for a couple of decades. I fail to see how this could be considered traditional," she retorted with a low growl, her voice tinged with frustration over the ill-fitting garment.

Mike released his hold on her warm neck, taking a few steps back to admire her. "Come on then, give us a twirl," he suggested, a playful smile gracing his face. Leena rolled her eyes in response but complied, slowly turning around to showcase the full extent of her ensemble. The large swath of black cotton enveloped her body, wings, and tail, leaving only her long orange neck exposed.

As Leena completed her turn, she caught sight of Mike with his hand clamped over his mouth, desperately attempting to stifle a laugh. "Alright, just say it," she exclaimed, her exasperation evident as her head drooped in a mix of embarrassment and disappointment. "I look like I'm trapped in a tent," she said sadly, her eyes glancing towards Mike, seeking his honest opinion.

"No... no, I was definitely not going to say that," Mike lied, a mischievous undertone lacing his voice.

"Oh, really?" Leena teased, a playful sparkle in her eyes. "So, does this make my rump look big?" With a mischievous grin, she turned around, presenting her hindquarters to him. She couldn't help but smile as Mike burst into laughter.

Mike's eyes scanned over the black shape, searching for any trace of Leena's graceful form, but it remained hidden beneath the fabric. He shook his head and replied, "Nope, I can't see your rump at all!" Stepping closer, he pressed his hand against the fabric, attempting to feel the contours of her body beneath. "I suppose it highlights your best features," he said tenderly, his hand gliding over her concealed form as he made his way back up to her neck, guiding her head lower to meet his.

"Oh? And what are my best bits?" Leena inquired with curiosity, relishing the sensation of Mike's gentle hands stroking up her neck and tracing her jawline. Her heart quickened its pace, and warmth radiated through her body as he directed her snout to rest against his chest.

"Hmm, let's see," Mike mused, his hands gliding over Leena's glossy orange scales, savoring the smoothness beneath his touch. His gaze wandered over the intricate details of each scale on her head, captivated by their leaf shaped pattern. "Your cute snout," he whispered, his voice filled with tenderness, "I love how your nostrils flare when you get excited." As if on cue, her nostrils flared, eliciting a soft smile from him. "But no, that's not your best bit," he continued, playfully tracing the contours of her face. "Your horns are beautiful and sharp, but no..." he teased, relishing the closeness between them.

Leena could feel her warm breath against Mike's robe as he held her close, rotating her head slightly downward. She anticipated his next move, her heart fluttering in anticipation. And then, he gently leaned forward, planting a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Yup, there it is," he declared, his voice laced with warmth and admiration.

Leena couldn't help but smirk, her eyes glinting with playful mischief. "My forehead?" she said sarcastically, causing Mike to burst into laughter, momentarily releasing his hold on her.

"Yes, your forehead is your most exquisite feature, Leena," he replied, mirroring her sarcasm. "I mean your beautiful mind." He added softly, his hand tenderly stroked her cheek before he leaned in, his lips inches away from hers, ready to seal their affection with a kiss. But just as their connection reached its peak, he heard her inhale sharply and abruptly pull away from his grasp. Concern etched across his face, Mike searched Leena's eyes for an explanation, his heart beating a little faster.

Leena's words hung in the air, heavy with a tinge of sadness. "Sorry, we can't," she said softly, her voice laced with regret. "My parents should be here by now, and... we just shouldn't." Her gaze drifted across the bustling courtyard, where fellow students adorned in their graduation gowns mingled, accompanied by eager parents who had arrived early. The sight of cameras capturing joyful moments danced before her eyes.

Mike let out a sigh, his anticipation dissipating into understanding. "Well, I'll have to save it for later," he replied, mustering a hint of cheerfulness. While their relationship wasn't forbidden, Leena was terrified of her controlling parents finding out. Just the thought of her parents discovering their affection in the courtyard sent a pang of anxiety through Leena's stomach.

"Sorry, Mike, it's just—" Leena began, but before she could finish, he stepped forward, placing both hands on her sash, pretending to straighten it once more. In reality, he simply longed to be close to her.

"It's okay, I understand," he reassured her, his tone tender and compassionate. With a playful twinkle in his eyes, he patted her shoulders firmly and stepped back. "But you can't stop me from fixing your gown. What would your mother say if she caught you with a single wrinkle in your lovely robe?" he teased, trying to bring a touch of lightness to the moment.

Leena's lips curved into a small smile, appreciating his effort to lift her spirits. "She'd probably go into great detail about how this would never happen if I had a big strong drake to look after me," she replied, a hint of amusement in her voice. The fleeting connection they shared in that moment brought comfort to both of them, even if they couldn't fully embrace their affection publicly. She lowered her head so she could whisper just to him, "Trust me, There is nothing more I want in the world, than to take you to one of these classrooms and ride you on the teachers desk." She said, her voice low and dripping with honesty.

Mike's eyes widened, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of crimson as Leena's words caught him off guard. "Leena, that's like three of my top fantasies right there," he blurted out, his voice a mixture of surprise and embarrassment.

Leena couldn't help but feel a rush of heat spread through her body, even if it didn't show through her orange scales. Her eyes widened, and her tail flicked back and forth with a mixture of excitement and playfulness. "Oh, does my little Mike want a big, dommy dragoness to order him to stay back after class?" she whispered, drawing out her words, ensuring only he could hear. "Have you been a bad boy Michael?" She added and peered down her nose at him.

"Oh, shh," he responded, playfully swatting her snout. The act caused her to break character and chuckle, the sound echoing with warmth and joy. "But I'll do anything for an A, Miss Leena," he added quietly, causing her eyes to widen once again before she burst into uproarious laughter. Their lighthearted exchange caught the attention of a few nearby graduates, who glanced in their direction, curious about the source of their amusement.

Leena's laughter subsided, but a radiant smile remained on her face as she looked at Mike. "You always know how to make me laugh," she admitted, her voice filled with affection.

Mike continued to chuckle, relishing in the joyous sound of Leena's laughter. However, as he adjusted her robes once more, a peculiar sensation caught his attention. His hands felt slightly sticky, even though they appeared clean. "Hey, did you put something on your scales?" he asked, his curiosity piqued, drawing her back from her playful daydream.

Leena's smile remained on her snout as she turned her gaze towards him, her eyes meeting his. Then, her attention shifted to his hands. "Oh, sorry. Yeah, you might not want to touch me. The scale paint is dry but kinda gross," she admitted, her tone apologetic.

Mike raised an eyebrow, studying her glossy and vibrant scales. Trying to comprehend her words, he asked, "Scale paint... is that like... makeup for dragons?"

Leena chuckled, her laughter lacing the air. "Well, yes, but with less little brushes and more... airbrushed," she explained, noticing his gaze lingering on the shine of her orange scales. "Trust me, it's not something I do often. It smells awful when it's applied and is by no means comfortable," she added, giving him a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes reality of dragon aesthetics.

Mike couldn't help but let out a chuckle at the mental image of Leena in an auto-body shop, being carefully sprayed by someone in a beekeeper suit. "I have so many questions," he admitted, his smirk betraying his curiosity. "How do they handle the areas where the scales overlap?"

Leena's eyes shimmered with appreciation for his genuine interest. Although the process was far from enjoyable, she was glad to share the experience with him. "Well, you see, I have to hold a specific pose, like this," she explained, gracefully stretching her neck to one side, exposing the scales that overlapped. "They spray the paint on one side, and I have to hold it for about half an hour before they move on to the other side," she continued, demonstrating the careful precision required. Finally, she returned to face him, her scales shimmering with the added allure of the paint.

Mike's voice brimmed with concern and empathy as he responded, "That sounds rather... time-consuming and uncomfortable."

Leena nodded, appreciating his understanding. "Yes, it definitely takes time and patience. And that's just for one coat. This is two coats and a gloss layer. It was an all-day event," she explained, a hint of amusement lacing her words. She couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of his jaw dropping in disbelief. Lowering her head to his, she whispered in a hushed tone, "So, next time you see a beautiful dragoness in one of those videos you love, think about the effort that goes into it."

"Well, hopefully, I won't have to watch those videos anymore... Now I have the real thing," Mike exclaimed, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he gently poked the tip of Leena's snout with a soft finger. "Boop," he added, unable to contain his laughter.

Leena's eyes widened in playful disbelief, her snout crinkling as her lips curled back into a slight snarl. But her friendly eyes betrayed any mask of aggression, shimmering with amusement.

"Oh, you did not just 'boop' me!" she retorted, her voice a mix of mock indignation and suppressed laughter.

Mike chuckled and held his hands out in a gesture of innocence. "Well, maybe I did!" he retorted, his tone teasing. However, he couldn't help but feign remorse when he saw her pout. "Oh, did I hurt my big dragon, did I?" he teased, mimicking her pout with an exaggerated expression. "Maybe I need to make it up to her." Without waiting for a response, he stepped closer and wrapped his arms around her sturdy neck, hugging her tightly before she could protest.

Leena couldn't help but melt into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his body against her own. She let out a soft rumble of contentment, nuzzling her snout against his shoulder, her tan-colored wing membranes gently fluttering in anticipation.

Leena's eye-ridge arched, a mischievous glimmer flickering in her vibrant orange eyes. "Oh? And what would my little Mike do to make it up to me?" she asked, attempting to maintain a serious tone while secretly relishing his firm grip around the base of her neck, feeling the comforting strength of his embrace.

"Well..." Mike pondered, his mind already racing with an idea. "How does one get rid of the scale paint?" he asked, a hopeful twinkle in his eye, hoping that her response aligned with his plan.

Leena couldn't help but smirk, her sharp teeth peeking through her partially open snout. She extended a paw around his back, curling her head down toward him, bringing her head close to his ear. Her voice turned soft and seductive as she whispered, "Water, soap, and vigorous agitation." Her words carried a sultry undertone, layered with her desire and growing arousal at the thought of sharing another intimate session in the shower with Mike.

"Well, I think I can handle that," Mike replied softly, and pressed his cheek against the smooth scales of her chest, reveling in the tenderness of their embrace. In that moment, he truly felt like the luckiest man alive. However, his head perked up as he sensed a sudden jolt in Leena's neck, indicating that something had captured her attention.

Leena's heart raced, her claws digging into Mike's back as she caught sight of two imposing figures approaching. Her eyes widened with a mix of fear and determination, knowing the stakes were high. Without a moment's hesitation, she cursed under her breath, her voice barely a whisper as she urgently whispered to Mike, "Quick, they're coming!" With a powerful shove, she propelled him through the front split in her gown, pushing him into the grassy ground below. Mike tumbled and stumbled, disoriented by the sudden darkness that enveloped him, frantically feeling around to regain his bearings.

"M-Mother! Father!" he heard Leena call out, her voice laced with a hint of nervousness. Suddenly, it all became clear to him. Mike swiftly turned, making sure no part of him remained visible from beneath the gown, his heart pounding in his chest.

As his eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness, he could discern faint shapes through the black fabric of the robe. Rays of sunlight seeped through the coarse grain of the material, casting a dim glow within the concealed space. Mike carefully adjusted his crouched position, ensuring he remained hidden under Leena as she stood up to greet her approaching parents. The hem of her long robe hovered just millimeters above the ground, barely grazing the grass, as long as she kept her majestic wings tucked close to her sides.

"There she is!" exclaimed a loud, feminine voice, growing closer to Leena's side. Mike strained his eyes to make out the approaching figure, roughly making out the shape of Leena's mother, Seelena. "Doesn't she just look like me with that gown on, Honey? What do you think?" her voice dripped with vanity and expectation, directed toward Leena's father.

Mike's heart raced even faster as he waited in the hidden sanctuary beneath the gown, feeling the weight of the situation hanging in the air. The tension thickened, as Leena's parents unknowingly walked closer, unaware of the small human under their daughter.

Mike saw another dark mass approach Leena, even with the limited details Mike could make out, he could tell her father walked with a strong dominating glide, "Yes she does, doesn't she." he remarked, his tone bored and unamused. "You would think with the amount of money I threw at this place, they could have sprung for some decent cushions for us."

Leena's chest was expanding and contracting rapidly as she tried to retain her calm composure, her whole body tense at the close proximity of her parents to Mike. "Well, I'm sure the ceremony will start soon, How about you go take your seats and-"

"Nonsense Leena" her father cut her off with a snap. "We need to get a photo together, Work is doing a big drive at the moment about the importance of family and all that." he said coldly and turned to a human who was following in his wake, large expensive camera in hand. "Here will do" he said shortly and moved to Leena's side, extending a wing over her to pull her close. Mike making a quick shuffle to stay between Leena's feet.

"This is important to your father" Her mother said and moved to her daughter's other side. Leena's smile was more of a snarl as her heart was doing its best to beat its way out of her chest, the warmth of her father's suffocating wing reminding her of his powerful presence. "Why are you standing all bow legged, pull yourself together girl." Seelena chided and Mike quickly moved just behind Leena's front legs, with his knees on the cold ground he guided her forelegs closer together so she knew she wouldn't tread on him. Mike could see the tension in Leena's body, her claws digging into the grass as her toes clenched, inch by inch her claws digging gouges in the ground. "Stop looking so constipated Leena, Smile." Her mother added.

Mike held onto her forearms and gave them a reassuring squeeze, her muscles as tense as steel cables under her glossy scales. Leena got the message and tried to relax as best she could, blinking her eyes and adjusting her smile. Mike felt her body relax slightly and rewarded her with further strokes down the length of her arms. Mike could just make out the photographer adjusting settings on the camera as he switched knees and pulled himself against her arm in an attempt of a reassuring hug. Leena's smile flickered to an honest one at his attempt and calming her and blinked as the camera flash went off.

"That will do. leave, now" Her father said, his voice low with an authoritative tone and pulled his wing quickly off his daughter. The photographer checking the camera until he caught the powerful gaze of the black dragon and then hurried away.

Leena swallowed and spoke softly, "You don't have to be so rude father-" she stopped when his powerful gaze flicked to her.

"I am paying for his services, I can talk to him how I want." He said flatly, "When you pay for your own photographer, you can talk to them as you please." He said and offered a wing out to his mate who trotted to his side, enjoying the enveloping presence of her powerful other half. "Now, Where is that human friend of yours?" He asked and gazed across the busy floor of the university courtyard. Mike's head snapped up to Leena's father and his heart starting to race, he couldn't make out the dragon at all through Leena's robe but in his arms he could feel Leena tense at the mention.

"Sorry, Who?" She said, her voice wavering with concern as she tried to retain her composure.

Her father turning back to look at her with a smirk, his eyes reading her face like an open book, "Michael, I think his name was. The one who worked with you on your final project, he made a mistake on the dimensions of the support beam and I wanted to have a word." He explained, his voice tinted with a hint of amusement at her shocked expression. "I spoke to your professor and he agrees he made an error in your grade."

Leena was taken aback by her father's actions, "excuse me? That beam was perfectly fine!" She retorted, trying to think back to make sure they didn't make an error. Seeing her father raise an eyebrow at her outburst made her droop her head and look to the ground. "The brief was to be efficient on materials." She murmured.

Her father's scoff causing her to flick her eyes back up to him, "Sure, But remember. Your cut will always be a percentage of the total cost of development, by shaving that beam you lost out on thousands of dollars." He said in a manner of fact tone. Seeing his daughter clench her jaws he leaned in and whispered just loud enough for her and Mike to hear, "Don't beat yourself up, Human's make these kind of mistakes all the time."

Leena reeled back, taking a few steps which caused Mike to quickly scoot back to stay hidden, He could see that Leena was starting to lift her wings in anger and quickly reached under her to hold the leading edge of her wing down, if she lifted them any higher he would become very visible. Leena's father noticed her head twitch to the side slightly before she lowered her wings down under the gown and looked to him, "That was not Mike's call, It was mine."

"Well! Then consider this your first lesson," her father said smugly, his tone dripping with superiority. "When you work for me, I will teach you so much more about how the world actually works." His eyes locked onto Leena's, a challenging intensity burning within his green eyes.

"When Hell freezes over, I will call you boss," Leena retorted, her voice laced with defiance. She held her father's powerful gaze, her amber eyes unwavering. Despite the pressure and dominance he exuded, she refused to back down. With Mike's arm securely wrapped around hers, she found strength in his presence, standing her ground against her formidable father. Leena's father took a few measured steps forwards, the musky scent of his imposing figure filled the close proximity between them, his sheer presence seeming to absorb any joy in the courtyard as he moved to only a paw's reach away from her. Leena extended her neck, tilting her head up to meet his, their eyes locked in a tense standoff. The slightest twitch of her lip betrayed her desire to snarl and escalate the situation with her sharp claws.

A smug smile flickered across his snout. "Maybe I should hire Michael to work for me. As perhaps he brought the more sound mind to your project." He warned, his eyes catching her pupils go slightly wider at the mention of Mike. "I was hoping to meet him here... Ah, well I'm sure I will catch him later."

Leena's jaw clenched, her sharp teeth rubbing against one another as she struggled to not reveal the depth of her affections for Mike. Her father could tell she was on edge and softened his gaze slightly, adopting a sad tone. "After everything I have done for you. The thousands spent on your education, the tutors, the books, the gifts to your professors... Without me the closest you would be to developing buildings, would be managing traffic for minimum wage. The extent of your influence would be which cars can pass." His voice so low it sounded like thunder itself was talking, "I am giving you a career on a silver platter, one that will leave a legacy in our wake long after we are gone. Look around my child, everyone here would kill for an opportunity like that. Can you not get over your own pride?"

Leena's eyes darted between his as she processed his words, a part of her agreeing with him and another part of her hating herself for thinking so. Mike felt her weight shift slightly to her hind legs, ready to leap at her sire. But her father's expression suddenly relaxed, and he gave a dismissive snort, his hot breath wafting over her face.

"One day you will know that we mean best, and you will thank us for everything we have given you. That I promise." he said with a hint of ambiguity, then turned away, his presence receding.

As he returned to his mate and draped a protective wing over her pure orange body. They continued walking, his massive black frame contrasting against her orange hues. "Come on, honey, we will miss our thing if we stay much longer," he urged, his mate snuggling close to him, their tails entwined affectionately.

"You're leaving?" Leena questioned, her voice betraying a mix of confusion and annoyance. "You're not staying for the ceremony?" Her disappointment was evident, hoping against hope that her parents would at least show some support on this momentous day.

Her father glanced back and scanned Leena from head to toe, a condescending look on his face. "Don't sound desperate, Leena. It's unbecoming of you," he sneered, not even bothering to pause his pace. With a smirk, he added, "I've seen all I need to. Guests arrive at 6... Don't make me wait." before nuzzling his mate.

Mike was taken aback by the audacity of Leena's father. Gently, he stroked his hand up her forearm, offering a comforting touch. He could feel the slight tremor in her body as she breathed, the adrenaline still coursing through her veins, leaving her feeling chilled. Grateful for their hidden embrace, Leena waited until they were well out of sight before she whispered softly, "They're gone." She drew back one of the flaps of her robe, allowing Mike to step out into the brightness of the sun. Turning to Leena as she sat back down on the grass, her gaze averted, he knew that she was beyond upset.

"Hey," Mike spoke softly, his voice filled with understanding. When she didn't meet his gaze, he realized the depth of her distress. Her eyes were glassy, emotions held back with effort. "Hey," he repeated gently, his hand tenderly stroking the base of her neck. His words were quiet and compassionate. "Are you sure you're not adopted?"

Leena was taken aback by his sudden question. "What?" she replied, genuinely unsure if she had heard him correctly.

"I mean, how did your egg come from them?" Mike continued, a smile gracing his face as she turned to look at him, a flicker of a smile tugging at her lips. "Maybe they paint your scales in your sleep or something, so you think you came from them," he joked, relieved when a single laugh escaped her.

"Thank you, Mike," she whispered softly, gratitude evident in her voice. She wrapped a paw around his lower back, pulling him closer and pressing him firmly against her chest. The pressure of his strong hug around her neck made her feel safe and loved.

Mike squeezed her tenderly and pressed a kiss to her throat before releasing his hold and taking a step back. "Want some chocolate?" he suggested, his smile warm and inviting. He was pleased when she managed to stifle another chuckle, her eyes gazing down at him tenderly. "Come on then," he said, gesturing toward the edge of the courtyard where a few vending machines still held some overpriced candy. As they took a few steps the sound of a bell could be heard, signaling that they needed to take their places for the ceremony.

"Maybe chocolate after?" Leena suggested, her gaze shifting to the dense crowd of graduates moving past them.

Mike's heart sank with a tinge of regret. "I really have to leave after the ceremony. I need to get ready for some swanky event." he explained, noticing the desperation in her eyes. He quickly added, "But how about tomorrow? Just you and me, a picnic basket, and a certain rooftop?" His voice carried a soft sincerity, and his smile widened as he witnessed her eyes light up. "And I promise, I'll bring chocolate."

Leena lowered her head to his level and planted a tender kiss on his lips. "I would love that," she whispered, her voice filled with genuine warmth and anticipation.

As they made their way toward the campus oval, where the graduation ceremony was taking place, Leena and Mike walked side by side. Leena gave Mike a farewell squeeze with a paw before they parted ways. Due to the stark contrast in size between dragons and humans, the scaled graduates were directed to a separate area towards the back of the gathering. Leena took her place on the thin gym mats that had been laid out for the dragons, scanning the crowd in search of Mike. A smile formed on her face when she spotted him, looking back and waving to her.

However, as Leena settled onto the uncomfortable mat, she couldn't help but feel a sense of discomfort. The roughly fifty other graduating dragons around her seemed to share the same sentiment. Their polished scales emitted a slight squeak as they shifted on the aqua-colored vinyl, each of them mindful of their sharp claws, avoiding any contact that could tear through the thin covering. Leena furrowed her brow, trying to focus on the moment, but her father's words lingered in her mind. She couldn't help but admit, albeit begrudgingly, that his remarks about the seating arrangements being cheap held a certain truth.

Leena's amber eyes swept across the expansive bleachers that encircled the lush, oval-shaped field. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the bleachers overflowed with jubilant parents, their enthusiastic waves and beaming smiles serving as a testament to their unwavering support for their loved ones.

Doubt whispered insidiously in Leena's ear, questioning her own worthiness of her parents support. She berated herself for the weakness she felt, for yearning for parents who had often been absent emotionally, their love tempered by their controlling nature. Her father, in particular, had always been a dominant figure in her life, his authority casting a long shadow over her aspirations and dreams.

As a resounding wail filled the air, a hushed silence descended upon the crowd, their eyes fixated on the source of the sound. With slow and deliberate steps, a majestic dragon made his way down the central aisle, commanding the attention of every individual on the oval.

Leena's eyes widened in awe as she witnessed the grandeur of this dragon. Adorned in scarfs of a regal tartan pattern he walked with two large air bladders nestled under his wings, their purpose becoming evident as he gently squeezed them, infusing the surroundings with a sustained, ethereal melody. Thin tubes snaked from the bags, connecting to the dragon's mouth, and she observed the slight puffing of his cheeks as he diligently replenished the air bladders.

Just ahead the dragon's wing shoulders, a collection of pipes protruded from the air bladders, held in place by tassels and ornate ribbons that fluttered in the breeze. Leena strained her eyes, catching glimpses of valves and flaps shifting and fluttering as if guided by an unseen force, producing a harmonious blend of tones. The melody transformed, transitioning into a slow and rhythmic march, resonating through the very core of the oval.

Marching proudly behind the bagpipe-playing dragon, another impressive figure emerged. This dragon walked with a curved neck, gracefully contorted into an S shape, while a large drum was strapped securely to his chest. With a graceful motion, his wing knuckles struck the sides of the drum, emitting a deep, resonant bass that complemented the melody of the bagpipes, forming the foundation of the marching band's harmonious symphony.

Leena continued to warch as a procession of humans and dragons followed suit, each wielding an array of horns and drums. Their instruments sang in unison, the music cascading through the air, captivating the attention of the enthralled crowd. As the marching band progressed down the expanse of the oval, their unified presence and resonant melodies created an atmosphere of awe and anticipation, drawing the gaze of every onlooker towards the stage where the graduation ceremony would soon take place.

Once on stage they transitioned from the graduation procession to the national anthem, commanded the attention of the entire audience. A wave of patriotic fervor swept through the crowd, prompting everyone to rise to their feet as the familiar melody filled the air. Leena dutifully sang along with the anthem, but her mind wandered amidst the sea of students, her thoughts drifting away from the momentous occasion at hand.

As she observed her fellow graduates, a nagging reminder of her father's words echoed in her mind. Each of them were deep in student debt, running the math in her head she knew it would be years before they would be free. Something that her father repeadly reminded her was something she would never have to deal with. While Leena acknowledged that not all of the students here would be competing for the same jobs she was, she couldn't help but recognize that her father was right, most would kill for the same privilege that she had been given.

She pushed aside the unsettling notion, trying to redirect her focus as the band concluded the national anthem. The eruption of applause from the crowd reverberated throughout the venue, and the audience swiftly took their seats once more. The band, now charged with an uplifting and rapid rhythm, commenced a new song, their jubilant melodies accompanying their swift march as they departed the stage in the same synchronized fashion they had arrived.

As the final notes dissipated into the air, Leena's attention refocused on the stage. The vice chancellor of the university stood before a podium emblazoned with the university's emblem. Leena settled back onto the thin gym mat, only partially engaged in the words that flowed from the speaker's lips. His speech revolved around growth and the opportunities that awaited the graduating class, but her mind remained preoccupied with the daunting question of whether working for her father would truly be as dreadful as she feared.

The vice chancellor's words continued to wash over her, and she caught fragments of his speech—words of encouragement and opportunity. However, the inner battle within Leena continued to rage on. As the vice chancellor's speech drew to a close, the applause of the crowd filled the air once again, Leena clapped along absentmindedly by beating her wings against her sides

Leena's contemplative state was interrupted by the presence of a graduation staff member, clad mostly in black and donning an earpiece. His discreet approach caught her attention, and he waved to her. She nodded in acknowledgment, her claws fidgeting nervously as she awaited his instructions.

"Leena," he whispered loudly, gesturing for her to follow him. The staff member guided her toward the designated area where her class was preparing to take the stage. Despite having read the brochure that explained the process, a knot of nervousness tightened in her stomach, leaving her feeling unsettled.

Taking her place in the single file line alongside her fellow graduates, Leena's heartbeat quickened as each name was called, her eyes darting toward the stage in anticipation. When Mike's name echoed through the venue, she couldn't help but feel a surge of pride, joining in with the applause by rhythmically slapping her wings against her sides, causing her gown to flap wildly. Her gaze remained fixed on his beaming face as he stepped forward to receive his certificate, warmly greeted by the vice chancellor, and then made his way to the opposite side of the stage.

One by one the students were called to receive their awards and with a mix of anticipation and nerves, Leena's name was finally called. She gracefully ascended the stage, her heart pounding in her chest. "LETS FUCKING GO LEENA!" shouted mike from the crowd. The eyes of the audience were upon her, but the sound of Mike's encouraging voice reverberated through the air, eliciting laughter from the crowd. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she couldn't help but blurt out a laugh, feeling a surge of warmth at Mike's support.

Approaching the podium, Leena extended her paw to the vice chancellor to shake, who in turn presented her with her award. Delicately with her mouth, she accepted the plastic tube which contained her rolled-up parchment. As she stepped off the stage, a beaming smile adorned her face, her eyes meeting Mike's gaze in the crowd. His persistent clapping echoed throughout the venue, fueling a sense of pride and accomplishment within her.

Rejoining her fellow dragons, Leena took a seat, her mind awash with a mixture of emotions. She carefully tucked the plastic tube containing her certificate into her harness under her gown and patted it to make sure it was safe. The lingering smile on her face mirrored the euphoria that enveloped her being—a combination of Mike's infectious enthusiasm, the joy of completing her course, and the realization that this moment marked the end of a significant chapter in her life.

Mike adjusted his tie, feeling a mixture of nervousness and anticipation as he rode alongside Ben in the cramped confines of his boss's van. The vehicle, while lacking in creature comforts, served its purpose in transporting the bar staff to the extravagant event they were about to cater. The journey from Ben's bar to the heart of the city was relatively short, but Mike's mind was racing with thoughts of the evening ahead.

"Okay, guys, I really need this to go smoothly," Ben emphasized, his grip tightening on the steering wheel as they approached their destination. The gravity of the occasion was evident in his voice. "These clients have paid good money, and they're not our usual clientele. So let's give it our all and make a lasting impression."

Mike glanced at his boss, sensing the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. Then his gaze shifted to the rest of the staff squeezed into the old van, all dressed in matching rented suits provided by Ben for this special occasion. As Mike stifled a yawn, Ben noticed and couldn't resist making a playful comment. "Mike, you awake?" he teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "That orange 'ness, She seems cute. Things getting serious?"

Mike chuckled, the memory of his rooftop encounter with Leena flooding his mind. "Yeah, you could say that," he admitted, a faint blush creeping onto his cheeks. Thoughts of the promise he had made to take Leena on a picnic tomorrow filled his imagination, momentarily whisking him away from the present moment. Lost in his daydream, he snapped back to reality as the van pulled into the underground car park of their destination.

As the van came to a stop, the crew swiftly exited, eager to begin unloading the array of delectable treats they had prepared. With practiced efficiency, they loaded two large trolleys with an assortment of delicacies, including cakes, meats, and an array of tempting dishes. Together, they maneuvered the laden trolleys toward a nearby goods elevator, their footsteps echoing in the cavernous concrete car park. As Mike pressed the call button, his gaze wandered, taking in the sight of numerous luxurious cars parked nearby, a testament to the opulence of the venue they were about to serve.

Straightening his tie once more, Mike couldn't help but notice a subtle hint of fluster in his boss's expression, hidden beneath his usual composed demeanor. Eager to break the silence, Mike inquired, "So, what's the occasion? A wedding, perhaps?"

Ben chuckled, the sound filled with both amusement and resignation. "Nah, it's some corporate celebration. They're unveiling new plans or something. Didn't delve too deep into the details. Just a bunch of successful folks patting each other on the back, I suppose." He grinned, his merriment momentarily interrupted as the elevator doors slid open. The staff quickly squeezed into the elevator, and as Ben swiped a card on the panel, he remarked, "If this goes well, we might land a few more of these gigs. Could be a game-changer for us."

Leaning against the elevator wall, Mike let his thoughts wander to his own employment. He felt grateful that Ben was compensating him handsomely for this event, especially since finding affordable accommodation had been a constant struggle. If these types of high-profile events became a regular occurrence, he dared to dream of securing a place to live that would not only be comfortable for himself but also spacious enough for Leena to stretch out in. The dream of financial stability and a better future for both of them flickered in his mind as the elevator ascended to the top floor.

The prolonged ascent in the elevator caused Mike's ears to pop. The sense of height was accentuated by the passing minutes, with the staff growing increasingly astounded by the seemingly endless journey. "Geez, Ben, how high are we going?" one of the staff members exclaimed. It had been several minutes, and the elevator only just began to show signs of deceleration.

Chuckling at their amazement, Ben replied, his voice tinged with excitement, "We're going as high as it gets, guys. The 140th floor of the Northern Spire!" His words carried an air of delight, causing Mike's attention to snap back into focus. He peered at the elevator panel, and saw the glowing button. The thought of what awaited them at the pinnacle of such a magnificent tower sparked Mike's curiosity, especially in regards to what sort of person could afford such an expensive penthouse.

With a soft chime that echoed through the opulent surroundings, the elevator doors glided open, revealing a magnificent sight—the grand foyer of the penthouse suite. The expansive expanse of ivory marble floors seemed to radiate a subtle glow, enhanced by the warm illumination of the crystal chandelier that dominated the lofty ceiling. The sheer size and elegance of the space was enough to leave anyone awe-struck.

As Mike and his team maneuvered the laden trolley out of the elevator, their eyes were drawn to a figure approaching them. A lone black dragon that seemed to radiate an air of power and authority. His scales glistened like freshly spilled black ink, casting an aura of darkness, yet his throat and chest displayed a pristine whiteness that matched flawlessly with the pale floor, creating the illusion that he was adorned in an impeccably tailored suit.

"Ah, thank goodness you have arrived. I trust your journey was smooth?" The dragon's voice resonated with a refined politeness, while his sparkling green eyes shimmered with anticipation. "I presume you must be Ben," he added, extending a paw in a gesture of warm greeting towards Mike's boss, who stepped forward and shook it.

"Yes, indeed. Thank you. It is an absolute pleasure to be here. If you could kindly show us to your kitchen, we shall swiftly prepare everything before the guests arrive," Ben replied, his tone exuding professionalism. Though this level of opulence was new to Ben, he was determined to maintain an air of confidence and ensure that his clients remained ignorant that he was out of his depth.

"Right this way," the charming dragon responded, his demeanor effortlessly commanding attention. With regal poise, he guided the group through the foyer, leading them into a vast living space that commanded an air of grandeur and extravagance.

As Mike stepped further into the vast living space, he struggled to maintain his composure, his eyes absorbing the details that surrounded him. The sheer expanse of the area was astounding, capable of comfortably accommodating a gathering of several dozen dragons. Dotted strategically throughout the space were a collection of bar tables, ready to cater to the needs of the dragon guests. Observing the food on the trolley he was pushing and the height of the tables, Mike deduced that a significant number of dragons were expected to partake in the event. It made perfect sense, considering their quadrupedal nature, that dragons would naturally gravitate towards these tables, utilizing them as convenient surfaces to rest their drinks and snacks while engaging in social interactions.

Adorning the walls were countless black and white photographs, capturing moments in the life of the black-scaled dragon and his partner. Alongside these portraits were images showcasing various buildings and vistas. Mike couldn't help but speculate that these photographs likely depicted holiday homes or places of great significance to the affluent host, a testament to the vast wealth and influence he wielded. Leading away from the main living area, a majestic staircase reached to a higher floor each vertical bar in the hand rails painfully hand carved out of a rich mahogany, reminding Mike of Leena's words about the additional floor dedicated to bedrooms. Smiling he made a mental note to tell Leena about his visit here.

As they walked Mike saw the sun began its descent on the horizon, casting a warm glow through the window, he couldn't help but stare at the breathtaking view of the city skyline. It triggered memories of his time with Leena on the rooftop and the promise he had made to her. Pushing the laden trolley into the kitchen area, Mike's gaze was drawn to the remarkable details of the expansive industrial kitchen. Every appliance gleamed as if brand new, with a sizable cold room built into one side of the room hinted at the fact that this dragon often hosted such events. It was abundantly clear that when it came to this dragon's realm, money was an insignificant factor. Mike discreetly averted his gaze, attempting to conceal his awe-struck expression, yet he couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the sheer display of wealth and power that surrounded him.

As the team unloaded the trolley and organized the food, Mike's attention remained fixed on his tasks, seemingly oblivious to the ongoing conversation between Ben and the black dragon. They discussed the intricacies of the evening, fine-tuning the plan with meticulous attention to detail. Mike's ears perked up when he heard his name being called.

"Michael, can you join us for a moment," Ben beckoned, his tone firm and expectant. The use of his full first name coupled with the subtle rise of Ben's eyebrows left no room for hesitation. Hastily setting down what he was doing, Mike hurriedly approached his boss and the black dragon, his nerves tingling with anticipation.

"Michael, this is Kaarak. He has requested your assistance for the evening," Ben introduced, his tone infused with polite formality.

Mike swallowed nervously, raising his gaze to meet the eyes of Kaarak, whose large green orbs twinkled with a joy that Mike didn't understand. Striving to maintain composure, he responded, "Of course, I would be happy to help. What do you require assistance with?" Despite the evident wealth and power exuded by this dragon, Mike fought to stifle any feelings of intimidation.

Kaarak beamed at Mike's compliance, his voice dripping with honeyed politeness. "Oh, I simply wish to mingle with tonight's guests, and I may require someone to carry my drinks, fetch me refills, and attend to my needs. That sort of thing," he explained, his words laced with a gracious charm. "If that is agreeable to you?" he added, punctuating his request with a curt nod.

Sensing Ben's gaze upon him, Mike took a moment to compose himself before responding. "Of course, I would be honored. Just what you need, and I will be all yours," he replied, offering a respectful bow.

The deep rumble of the black dragon's chuckle filled the air, resembling the sound of two boulders playfully rolling against each other. "Oh, Michael, you will be perfect for tonight. Might I trouble you for a coffee? I wish to remain alert for tonight's... entertainment," he requested, gesturing towards an shiny espresso machine with a large wing. Mike nodded, his eyes widening with admiration as he approached the machine. While he was familiar with similar machines from the bar but he couldn't help but marvel at the unparalleled quality and craftsmanship before him. Every dial and knob showed a sense of meticulous attention to detail, expertly textured and polished to perfection. Mike swiftly set about making a large coffee for their generous host, his movements precise and efficient.

As Mike worked, the black dragon settled himself next to him, his imposing presence overseeing the rest of the bustling kitchen staff while Ben had seamlessly taken over Mike's previous duties. "Thank you once again. I acquired this machine during my visit to Rome, but these little dials can be a fiddle," he remarked, his voice laced with gratitude. Mike couldn't help but smile, reminiscing about Leena's having a similar opinion about spoons. An awkward silence settled between the wealthy drake and Mike, the latter acutely aware of the dragon's unwavering gaze on him, his nostrils twitching as if capturing a familiar scent.

Despite the silence, Mike carried on with his task, attentively focusing on each step of the coffee-making process, determined to deliver a brew that met the dragon's discerning standards.

"You seem to have a knack for this. I'll be out on the balcony," the black dragon remarked flatly, his departure marked by a fluid and graceful stride as he exited the kitchen and made his way across the living area. Left to his own devices, Mike deftly handled the espresso machine, meticulously adjusting the knobs and settings to ensure the perfect temperature. With practiced precision, he poured the steaming coffee into a mug that was large enough for a dragon. Giving the machine a customary wipe-down, he transferred the mug onto a tray before departing the kitchen.

Connected to the vast living area was a sprawling balcony that seemed to extend outward from the building, enveloping almost half of the residence. As Mike stepped onto the balcony, he couldn't help but notice the absence of handrails. Suppressing any trace of unease, he approached the imposing figure of the black dragon, striving to maintain an air of calm and confidence.

"Come, Michael, tell me. Have you ever been this high up before?" Kaarak inquired gently, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.

Michael nodded briefly before shaking his head, realizing that explaining his time with Leena on the rooftop of the dragons home would be awkward, "Only in an airplane, but that's different."

Kaarik smiled knowingly and gestured for Mike to approach the edge of the balcony. Mike took hesitant steps forward, the afternoon breeze refreshing yet serving as a constant reminder of the height at which he stood. To steady his trembling hands, he tightly gripped the tray that held the weighty mug, focusing on maintaining his composure as he positioned himself beside the powerful drake.

"Tell me, how does it feel for a human to be at such heights without wings or a parachute?" Kaarak inquired, his words resonating with familiarity to Mike.

Mike took a deep breath and took a small step closer to the edge, attempting to show confidence and set the tone for the evening. "I believe the view makes it worth it," he replied, his voice steady.

"I'm glad you think so. It required quite a bit of persuasion to convince the regulators to allow me to remove the handrails, but I believe it's worth it. The view from up here is to die for," Kaarak stated, his smirk widening as his gaze swept across the sprawling city skyline below. "You don't seem afraid of me, Michael," he added, a hint of amusement coloring his words.

Mike's grip on the tray tightened, his heart pounding slightly as he contemplated the dragon's observation. "Should I be?" he queried, his tone laced with a mix of curiosity and caution.

The black dragon glanced down at Mike and blurted a laugh. "No! Of course not. I simply meant that not many humans or dragons speak so easily around me. Most individuals see my wealth and power and feel as though I am taking something from them or trying to control them in some way. But not you. I've always considered myself a good judge of character, and I can tell that you are genuine and trustworthy, Michael," Kaarak explained, his tone filled with genuine appreciation.

Mike nodded graciously, grateful for the dragon's kind words. He offered the mug of coffee to Kaarak, who took it delicately in his paw before taking a sip. A look of pleasant surprise crossed the black dragon's face. "By the gods, Michael, this is undoubtedly one of the best coffees I have ever tasted," Kaarak exclaimed, his voice resonating loudly. "Can I hire you to assist me every day?"

A wave of pride washed over Mike's flushed face at the dragon's compliment. "Thank you, you are too kind," Mike responded humbly, his gratitude evident in his words. Unsure of where he should position himself on the balcony, he found himself awkwardly gazing out over the city.

The dragon's playful smirk widened as he awaited Mike's response. Sensing Mike's confusion, he let out a deep chuckle, his pearly white teeth contrasting against his dark scales. "Well? How about it?" he reiterated, his tone laced with anticipation.

"Sir?" Mike questioned, his attention fully focused on the dragon's words.

"Look, I require an assistant for a few months while mine is away attending to personal matters. Are you familiar with computers, emails, and the like?" the black dragon inquired, taking another sip of his coffee and savoring it with an exaggerated blissful sigh. "I find formal interviews to be quite tedious. When I see something I like, I simply must have it." The dragon lowered his head to Mike's level, his eyes sparkling with intrigue. "So, how about it? I propose a fair offer of 100k for three months of work. If everything goes as planned, I may choose to keep you."

Mike was stunned by the extraordinary offer, his hands trembling slightly at the sheer generosity displayed by the black dragon. "Um... I don't know what to say," Mike stammered, his mind racing with the possibilities that such an amount of money could bring. It was more than double what an average designer would earn in a year. Thoughts of a home for himself and Leena danced in his head. "Of course! Yes, sorry, yes. When do I start?" he finally managed to respond, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and gratitude.

Karrak chuckled, thoroughly enjoying Mike's enthusiasm, and took another sip of his coffee. "Tonight, consider it your probation. If everything goes smoothly, I expect you to be at my workplace at 9 am sharp tomorrow," he declared with a proud smile.

"I won't let you down," Mike vowed, his excitement barely contained as he suppressed his emotions, eagerly awaiting the completion of Karrak's coffee. A pang of sadness tugged at him at the thought of canceling his picnic with Leena, but the opportunity to establish himself was too enticing to pass up. He told himself that Leena would understand, rocking back and forth on his feet with anticipation. "May I ask what the occasion is for tonight?" Mike inquired politely.

Karrak smiled knowingly, savoring Mike's innocence. "Oh, it's a family celebration," he replied nonchalantly. "With a touch of business mixed in. I am hoping to seal a deal that has been years in the making."

Mike offered a small bow. "I am certain it will be a success. If there's anything I can do to make it easier, please don't hesitate to let me know."

Karrak chuckled in amusement, appreciating Mike's eagerness. "Thank you, Michael. I will remember that," he acknowledged. Just then, a bell chimed from inside the residence, signaling the arrival of the guests. "Can you take this?" Karrak asked, thrusting the half-empty mug into Mike's hands. Mike accepted it hastily, stepping aside to clear the path for the large dragon to turn, and then he followed a few paces behind Karrak.

"I'm done with the coffee. Stay within sight but don't be a shadow," Karrak instructed, his voice carrying a subtle hint of detachment. Mike attributed it to social nerves and quickly scurried off to the kitchen, carefully holding the mug.

As Mike walked into the kitchen with a radiant smile on his face, Ben, his current boss, looked at him with amusement in his eyes. His voice filled with curiosity, Ben remarked, "You look like you are enjoying yourself too much, what happened?"

Mike couldn't contain his excitement and let out a chuckle. "Hey, Ben. I may have just stumbled upon a job, the kind that people dream about. How angry would you be if I told you tonight could be my last night?"

A sigh of relief escaped Ben's lips as he responded, "Fuck, Mike, you nearly gave me a heart attack! I thought you were about to say you had to leave immediately. More notice would have been appreciated, but hey, if tonight goes smoothly, I won't hold it against you."

Grinning from ear to ear, Mike replied, "You're a true legend and a scholar, Ben." He swiftly emptied the mug he was holding into the sink, and just as he did, Ben handed him a large bottle of champagne that looked expensive. "Thanks, but I think we can celebrate later," Mike said with a glimmer of anticipation in his eyes.

The rest of the staff, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation, burst into laughter. Ben joined in and gestured toward the team members, each of whom carried similar bottles. "No, Mike," Ben playfully chided, "these bottles are reserved for the guests. We'll have our own celebration in due time." With a mischievous smirk, he turned Mike around and gently pushed him out of the bustling kitchen and into the grand living area, where the space was rapidly filling with elegantly dressed attendees.

Ben's crew had arranged crystal flutes on the bar tables, ready for the arriving guests. Mike tried his best not to gawk at the magnificent dragons, their scales gleaming as if they were meticulously polished. Their elegance was matched only by the select group of humans scattered among them. The men donned impeccably tailored suits, exuding sophistication, while the women gracefully moved about in designer cocktail dresses. It was evident that this gathering was reserved for the crème de la crème of the city's elite.

Searching the crowd, Mike spotted his host and newfound boss near the entrance, extending warm greetings to each guest as they arrived. Mike navigated around the outer edges of the gathering, positioning himself within perfect view of the black dragon. He was eager to assist at a moment's notice, not wanting to stuff up this opportunity.

Suddenly, a friendly grey dragoness approached Mike, her vibrant scales a glossy shade of grey, while her paws and tail boasted a rich hue of purple, giving the look that she had walked in paint. She wore an endearing smile and extended an empty glass toward him.

"Any of that for me?" she asked, her voice filled with anticipation.

Mike prepared to pour her a drink, but as he glanced closer, he noticed that her harness was slightly oversized, and her horns were small and blunt. A spark of concern ignited within him, and he paused before pouring. "Wait a minute, how old are you?" he inquired, his tone gentle yet curious.

The dragoness seemed momentarily taken aback but quickly regained her composure, a mischievous glimmer dancing in her eyes. "I'm twenty-one," she responded a touch too quickly, her tail betraying her lie.

Amused by her attempted deception, Mike arched an eyebrow and pressed further. "Oh, really? What year were you born?" he prodded, a playful smile tugging at the corners of his lips. Sensing her hesitation as she mentally calculated, he continued, "If you prefer, I can fetch you some juice instead..."

A stern, adult dragon swiftly approached the guilt-stricken young dragoness, admonishing her in a firm voice. "Oh no, you don't, Teeba." the dragon chided, concern etched on their face. "Not tonight, little miss. It's best you go sit down and play your games, and stay out of the way." With a gentle nudge of their wing, they guided the crestfallen dragoness away from Mike, ensuring her safety and keeping her occupied.

Amused by the turn of events, Mike couldn't help but chuckle as he observed the young dragoness plop herself down on a cushion in a corner of the room. She reached into her harness, retrieving a handheld gaming console and fluffy headphones, immersing herself in the screen and effectively tuning out the conversations of the adults.

Meanwhile, Mike's attention was drawn to Kaarak, who raised an empty glass in his paw. Mike nodded in acknowledgment and swiftly made his way to his boss, bowing to apologise before he poured the sparkling yellow liquid into Kaarak's glass, ensuring it was brimmed.

Just as he finished attending to Kaarak, a striking orange dragoness approached the black dragon's side, pressing herself affectionately against him. She gracefully extended a glass to Mike, who started to pour into it. Kaarak turned to the dragoness with a fond smile, introducing Mike with a note of pride in his voice. "Seelena, this is Michael. The one I was telling you about. He has graciously agreed to work for me for a few months."

With a polite smirk, the orange dragoness acknowledged Mike's presence. Her eyes glimmered with a mix of curiosity and elegance. Mike discreetly tried not to stare at the opulent necklace adorning her neck. The combination of white gold and stunning diamonds shimmered in the ambient light, casting intricate patterns of bright reflections on the ground, further accentuating the dragoness's aura of wealth and sophistication.

"Seelena, like the model?" Mike complimented, his voice tinged with realization. Suddenly, a surge of comprehension washed over him as he examined Seelena's features. Her orange scales, slightly deeper in hue compared to Leena's, showcased an older and skinnier version of his friend.

Seelena's laughter cascaded like a melodious tune, a hint of nostalgia woven into its melodic notes. "Oh, that was a lifetime ago, but yes," she replied, her voice carrying the weight of past experiences.

As Mike connected the dots, the realization hit him like a tidal wave. His voice grew hoarse, and his chest tightened, a mix of astonishment and anticipation flooding his senses. He glanced between the two powerful dragons before his gaze swept across the room, searching for Leena. "But that means..." he began, his voice trailing off, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air.

Before Mike could continue, Kaarak interjected with a resounding voice, full of pride and joy. "And there is my lovely daughter!" he announced, capturing the attention of the crowd. With a grand gesture of his paw, he directed everyone's gaze toward the grand staircase that led to the bedrooms upstairs. Mid-stride, frozen in disbelief, Leena stood on the stairs, her eyes fixed on Mike with a mix of concern and paralysing fear.

The applause and the rhythmic beating of wings reverberated through the room, a distant echo to Leena's racing heart. Her chest tightened, breaths coming in shallow and panicked gasps. A wave of unease washed over her as she beheld her parents standing smugly beside the bewildered Mike. Her gaze flickered between her parents and Mike. Conflicting emotions surged within her—a potent blend of fear, protectiveness, and an overwhelming desire to keep him safe from the storm that was brewing. Unbeknownst to the oblivious guests, a delicate game of power and secrets was about to begin
