An Inopportune Moment
At some point in their life, every human transforms. When and where though is impossible to predict, and thus some people, like Alfie, might find themselves transforming at a rather inopportune moment. :o

There came a time in every human's life when they transformed. It was just a fact of life, and had been for more than fifty years now. At some point after puberty, usually between the ages of fifteen and eighteen but sometimes as late on as their mid-twenties, their life as a human would come to an end. In that moment their previous self, personality and all, would become part of a new, greater whole in the form of an anthro creature of some sort. Sometimes they'd be almost exactly like their former selves, only fluffier and stronger, faster, more resilient to injury and disease. Other times, the change in personality and body would be a little more dramatic, with not only personalities being wholly rewritten by the addition of whatever the anthro's own mind felt, but sometimes the intimate anatomy and gender identity of the newly transformed individual shifting to a completely different point on the spectrum too.
Alfie was twenty three, and quite honestly he couldn't wait to change. Every morning he woke up and immediately felt his chest to see if it was smooth or fluffy, flat or suddenly mountainous, before travelling his hand down to his crotch for a similar examination. But every day for the past seven or eight years or so, he had found the same result. He was human. Still human, and thus in this world of anthros and the new possibilities born with every newly fledged anthro life, incomplete.
He sighed as he glanced in his rear view mirror, and as the highway curved slightly he was able to see further back behind him around that developing bend, observing dozens of other drivers in their own cars, all of their features those of varied anthro animals with not another adult human in sight. Turning his attention back to the road, though admittedly not perhaps as fully as he should have given the hours of highway he had yet to travel without pause before reaching his destination that evening, Alfie idly considered what he had spent so many days and weeks and months imagining for most of the last decade. He started running through his internal rolodex of possible creatures he could become. Of course many of the world's top scientists had tried and failed to find a pattern to indicate or a way to influence what a person was going to turn into, but that didn't stop people trying to guess anyway. It had certainly never stopped Alfie, and today was no different.
Maybe he was going to become a dog. A labrador. A German shepherd. A dalmatian. Something with a handsome smile and a fur coat that would make his lean, pale body look luxurious and handsome beyond compare. Perhaps a maned wolf, long legs and all, or a hyena! Maybe something not canid looking in the slightest, even though he knew from having researched it many a time that hyenas weren't actually canid in their phylogeny. Something beyond mammalian. A lizard perhaps. A frog. He'd seen a really handsome tree frog just the other week. So smooth, so attractive. His cheeks flushed slightly, and he tried to turn his attentions away from ideas of romance or any other type of intimacy. Maybe he'd be a rabbit. Or a sheep. Or a zebra. Oh god, what if he was one of those rare few that became a sea mammal? An orca maybe, his whole life uprooted as he was given one of the special homes constructed for anthros who required a specific habitat in which to live, in this case a home that was partially submerged under water so he could avoid drying out while still being able to interact with the coastal regions of the surface world.
Once again Alfie glanced up to the rear view mirror as he let his mind amuse itself with these pleasant thoughts of his future. Thoughts of a day when he would wake up different, complete at last and able to embark upon whatever new life his anthro self had in store for him. He caught sight of his own eyes, their sharp amber irises reflecting back at him before he turned his attention to the cars behind him and...
Wait. Hold on.
Amber?
He had green eyes.
Alfie's eyes were green. They had always been green. But...
He glanced at himself in the mirror once again. Amber. Dazzling amber, and... and all around his eyes, where once there had only been pale skin, there was now fur. White fur, snowy and luxurious, sprouting forth as his ears began to migrate up his head.
"Oh my god..."
Alfie gasped, or rather, he growled as his mouth burst outward into a muzzle; flesh stretching, bones creaking as they grew and transformed painlessly but visibly to their stunned owner. His car swerved ever so slightly, and with a groan of dismay Alfie pulled his attention back to the road. The highway was packed with cars at the beginning of rush hour, and though it would doubtlessly clear further on once they passed the turn-offs to the suburbs and headed out towards Alfie's eventual destination two cities over, for now there was no way he would be able to pull over to the side with any ease, or indeed to stop the car without causing major troubles for a whole lot of people. And yet, surely he couldn't just keep on driving. He was changing. He was finally, finally changing, and...
"Ah!"
...his eyes widened, and he cried out as he felt a sharp sensation, not painful due to the transformation but still deeply uncomfortable, prodding at his lower back. He tried to shuffle, to shift position but it just wasn't working. Checking the road ahead of himself, Alfie dared to glance back over his shoulders to see what the problem was, and he cried out in dismay and wonder all rolled into one when he finally saw what was happening. The reason why he could feel something squeezing at his lower back was quite simple. Because something was growing from it. Because his spine was extending and new flesh growing up around it, as a whole new section of lower body began to try and grow out behind him even as he sat there in the driver's seat.
"A... a taur..."
Alfie gasped in wonder, knowing full well that less than a thousandth of one percent of the world's anthro population were taurs. A number that made sea mammals seem commonplace by comparison.
"I'm becoming a... oh god..."
Becoming a taur was amazing. It was more incredible a realisation than Alfie could process in that moment. But, what he did recognise right then and there was that while becoming a taur in itself was wonderful, becoming a taur here was most definitely not.
"Oh crap. Oh crap!"
He felt his body growing. The pain in his lower body abated as although he had done nothing to give it more space, it began to find it anyway. He felt his upper body being pushed forward to make room for the new set of hind limbs that were growing from nothing behind him; pressed towards the steering wheel and thus making it increasingly difficult both to steer and to keep his feet, now the feet of his forelimbs, on the peddles. At the last moment he realised what he could do, and reached down the side of his seat, unfastening it upon its floor mounted rails so that it slid back as far as it would go. He let the chair-back sink down virtually horizontal in a manner totally inappropriate for any conventionally built biped trying to drive, but which gave him much needed space for his growing, expanding body to spread out.
Buttons began to ping off his shirt as no sooner had Alfie set the lower half of his body loose to grow freely, his upper half began to change more aggressively and rapidly too. He yelped in awe and surprise as he watched breasts swelling upon his own chest, and glanced in the mirror once again to see long white hair cascading down his face, a face no longer just coated in luxurious white fur, but bearing a distinctively feline form and now several black stripes running across the white. Beyond all that though, beyond the fundamental wonder of his appearance changing was the specific way in which it was changing, and the knowledge of what was soon going to follow it.
Alfie gasped as he distinctly felt his genitalia begin to shift. To melt away and re-form in an entirely new configuration in a matter of seconds upon his newly grown hindquarters, like it was the most natural thing in the world. He knew without doubt at that point that the mental shift was soon to follow. He'd read about it, watched documentaries on it, taken classes on it at school so he knew exactly what to expect. But for those few seconds as he felt his new body all around him; not just stronger and bigger and so very unsuited for the car he was still shakily fighting to keep going on the road, but very much the body of a woman with his still male mind within it, he was both confused and entranced by the sensation and awareness of his physical form. It wasn't anything so dire as dysphoria, thank goodness. It was just so very, very weird.
Seconds later though, the complete mental shift happened. There was a moment, a single terrifying moment where Allie was totally disoriented and confused. A second where she wasn't sure where she was, what she was doing, or indeed how to drive a car in any form; biped, taur or otherwise. But then her brain switched into gear once again as the reboot of her sense of self was complete, and all of Alfie's memories, all his opinions and beliefs and all his accumulated life knowledge rushed back into her mind. Opinions and beliefs and knowledge which were not hers, not defining or changing her into that same human person with a different shell, but informing and adding to her own views and opinions and feelings about things. Things like, in this particular case, the tiger taur's continued ability to drive the car in which she was seated before she veered it off the road or into someone else's bumper.
Thinking more sensibly than her former self, Allie put on her hazard lights immediately to let those around her know to expect potential issues, She didn't try to turn immediately towards the emergency lane of the highway, but waited for the cars around her to acknowledge her hazard warning before slowly, carefully beginning to do so, operating the peddles with her forelegs and grateful for the two or three feet of extra height she had grown, allowing her to reach down into the footwell with her legs while still resting at a relatively normal height with her head, even without a suitable seat to rest upon.
Panting a little from the combined exertion of her change and the residual nerves that Alfie had been feeling as he drove and transformed all at once, Allie finally pulled the car over, and was able to stop just a minute or so later. She opened the front door on the side facing away from the traffic, and with a little grunting and huffing she pulled her huge, now almost nine foot tall body out of the small hatchback that had been perfectly roomy for her five foot five former self. She kicked off the tattered remains of her formerly human trousers, looked down at the torn, open fronted remains of her shirt, and giggled as she watched other cars driving by, many a wide eyed face staring out at the virtually naked taur now standing on the edge of the highway.
Alfie would have been so embarrassed by this.
He would have been appalled that his first moments as an anthro, something he'd dreamed about for the best part of a decade, were being spent on the side of a road, all but nude and humiliatingly exposed.
But... Allie? She knew it wasn't something that could be helped, and that it was something almost every anthro in those cars driving past her would be able to empathise with, very few having had the choice of when and where their transformations happened. Thus, she simply bent down to root around for Alfie's cell phone within the pocket of his mangled trousers, and as she began to call one of her friends... well, one of his friends, though hopefully hers too, for a pick up or at least a spare set of clothes if their car couldn't fit her, she closed her eyes and smiled warmly to herself.
It might not have been the most perfect or opportune moment for a transformation, but finally, finally it had happened. And at last, just like Alfie had always hoped and dreamed she really did feel so different from that nervous, always somewhat uneasy guy she had been for the last twenty three years.
She felt good. She felt content in herself. She giggled as she looked up at the sky, and began to stretch out her new limbs on the roadside, revelling in every motion of her strong, beautiful body. Just like Alfie had always wanted, Allie really did feel complete.
