Some mornings you just want to go back to bed. Written 2014.

I always felt guilty waking up in their bed alone. They would get up early and get things done and leave me lazily sleeping the morning away. They never complained and even encouraged me to sleep as much as I needed, but this time there was a vicious headache to punish me.

I forced myself to roll out of the bed and found my feet. The world seemed a little off tilt and occasionally shifted the other way as I stumbled my way to the bathroom. I relieved my bladder and eventually realized that my stiffy had finally given up. I breathed a sigh of relief and washed my face in the sink. I didn't feel stable enough to use the shower, so I headed back to the bedroom. I found my apron, clean and folded, on the end of the bed. I managed to put it on and found the top of the stairs. The wall gave me support as I carefully took each step.

Downstairs, the doc was listening to the chest of a large pile of orange and white fur with legs. Pinny was standing behind him, but when she turned and saw me, she smiled and rushed up to hug me. She kissed my cheek and started helping me down the last few stairs.

The fur-ball left and the doc came up to me with a very pitiful look on his face. He handed me a glass of water that looked a little green, "How are you feeling?"

I drank some of the water before answering him, "My head feels like an elephant sat on it and I think the world's a bit slanted."

"That's probably my fault. I... I need to apologize." He guided me to sit down on the bench and sat down facing me while Pinny stood beside me and rubbed my shoulder, "I may have overdone it with your dinner last night. I told you that I put some of my stuff in it, but I made a gross miscalculation. You're about twice my size and in my haste, I decided to double my current dose for you, without considering that I worked up to it over time and you've never had any. It was a stupid mistake that even a doctor can make."

Pinny coughed and his ears drooped

"And... I should have asked you before putting it in your food. I wanted to surprise you with a fun night as a thank you for everything, but it was wrong of me to force it on you. Can you forgive me?"

I took a moment to process everything he said through the pain in my head, "I think I'll be able to forgive you better once this headache goes away."

He smiled, "I can help with that." He took the empty glass from me and filled it in the sink then visited the medicine cabinet and came back to hand me two pills and the glass of clear water, "That should help and I'll make you some more of that tea. We'll get you back to normal in no time."

The door opened and a fox walked in wearing a florescent green jacket, "Oh, I didn't realize you were with someone. Are you done?"

The doc sighed, "Yes, Tod. We're done."

"Fan-tastic! I need to talk to you about something."

"Where are your pants?" the doc tried to keep control of the conversation.

"Hey, pants are out, yesterday and gone. Only lastgens wear pants. No offense doc, but you're not living on the edge of fashion, like me," the words came out of the fox's mouth so fast they were tumbling over each other.

"You're definitely on the edge of fashion," the doc kept his composure quite easily, but I struggled not to laugh and it made my head hurt more.

He spun around and raised his tail, "Check out my new tail rings, they're so newgen, it hurts." There were three bands in gold, silver and florescent green, tight around the base of his tail. I could also tell there was some swelling around them and the fur was looking thin. "Actually, that's what I want to talk to you about." He spun back around and slapped me in the face with his tail. He noticed me still sitting on the bench and scowled, "Hey, you wanna flit off, I need to talk to the doc about something. Shoo."

"He's my new assistant," the doc stood with his arms folded, trying to look larger and imposing.

The fox changed his tone, "Hey wait, are you_The_ porcupine?"

I gave him a confused look, "The?"

The fox was so animated, I had trouble looking at him, or maybe it was the jacket, "Yeah, everybody's been talking about the porcupine the doc brought back to life."

"Back to life?" I looked at the doc, who raised his arms defensively.

"I didn't say a word."

"Nah. I put it together myself, 'cause I've got the brains," he tapped his head and continued to explain in rapid-fire, "See, Mrs Kee saw you and yer wife moving the body out of Mr Barnes' woods then Venice casually mentioned it to him when she delivered his groceries and he was bragging about killing a trespasser and then Mrs Masters said she saw the porcupine walking around when she brought Edrid in for a bellyache and word spread from there that you brought him back to life like Frankenstein and everybody had to come see for themselves though not everybody did see and didn't really believe it so it was kinda like a rumor and I don't fall in for rumors and weak fads like that but it looks like it's true I mean this is all old news of course and it's probably what gave Mr Barnes his heart attack like he heard it and choked on his own ego but I bet you could've brought him back if anybody actually cared about that old badger 'cause you're awesome but I already knew that 'cause I've been coming here since the first day you moved in and tellin' everybody that nobody fixes you up better'n doc Lem oh and hey congratulations on the new baby. When's it coming?"

He finally stopped and my ears were ringing as I tried to translate everything he said.

"It'll be at least seven months."

"Heh, I guess fixing up old life is easy for you, but making it from scratch is hard. Not me one time and boom there's the kit."

"You have a child? I thought you preferred males."

"Yeah usually I do but somebody said I only liked boys 'cause girls wouldn't want me. I just couldn't let them nick me like that. I probably should've picked a different species, but she was right there and once I got her talking it was so easy sure helped a lot that she didn't have any of those human boobs or hair reminded me a bit of Nate when I got her turned around and I just lifted her tail and dove right in, imagining Nate's solid pecker hanging underneath, she was tighter than him, but cried more, before I knew it I blew my load and a couple weeks later she found me again and said she was pregnant damn was her dad mad when she told him I blew her off he came stormin' after me but when he found out I'm broke he just told me to stay away from her which is fine by me don't need that kind of headache in my life she was a fine fuck though maybe I can swing both ways now offer my services to a wider clientele I'm sure there's some vixens that're having trouble getting babies from their mates maybe some of the lesbian ladies that want to start a family could use some of my fertile seed just bend over and let me plant it in ya!"

He gestured wildly as he prattled on. I had my aching head on the table and was trying to cover my ears, but my paws just couldn't block his noise.

"Tod!" the doc was trying to reign the fox in again, "TOD!"

There was sudden silence as he looked at the shouting rabbit, "Hmm?"

"What did you need from me?"

"Oh it's just these rings I think I'm having some kind of reaction. Can you just give me something quick to make it better?"

The doc sighed, thankful to finally be getting to the point, "Let me take a look."

Tod leaned over the table beside me and winked at me with a grin, then lifted his tail to let the doc have a closer look. I slid down the bench to give them room as the doc put on a pair of gloves and grabbed the fox's big, fluffy tail. When he touched the rings, the fox winced, "Careful doc, it's tender there."

"I can see a lot of swelling. It looks like the rings are too tight and are restricting blood flow to your tail."

"So what does that mean doc?"

"It means either you lose the rings or you lose your tail."

"No way! These rings make me the thing!"

"Then your tail is going to die and fall off."

"Well if everybody else with rings is going to lose their tail maybe tailless will be the way to be and I can be first!"

"Your dying tail could also give you an infection that could kill you."

The fox thought a moment then sighed in resignation and looked over his shoulder, "Then I guess you better cut it off."

"A sensible choice. Pinny, would you get the wire snips?" She already had them and handed them to her husband.

"Are you crazy? You don't want to know what I had to do to get those! Cut the tail!"

"Tod, if I cut off your tail, there will be nowhere to keep the rings anyway."

"Well, don't cut the rings or Ack'll kill me. Can't you fix it some other way?"

"I could try stretching them until they're loose enough, but..."

"No. If they rattle, he'll know you messed with them and kill me anyway. Fuck!"

"Tod. Do you need to talk to the Guard?"

"No. Nonononono. Nono. No. No. No. Just cut the damn things. Looks like I'm leaving town."

"There are other options."

"We just went through the options. What didn't you mention?"

"There are safe houses for victims."

"No such thing. Not even a hole in the ground is safe from him when he's mad. He'd dig me up and beat my corpse. Nah, take the rings and you can keep 'em. I'm out and gone better if he never finds me. Besides, I'm not a victim, I asked him to do this to me. Just do it quick"

The doc took Tod's tail carefully and delicately snipped through the three rings, then pried them open and off the base of his tail. It left behind a deep, wide gash that went all the way around and was slowly oozing puss with a putrid stench. He pulled off his glove around the rings, then pulled the other glove around that, tied it off and dropped it in the red bin. He put on another pair of gloves and cleaned the wound, then packed it with antibiotic gauze and wrapped it.

When he was done, the doc put his paw on the fox's rump to keep him down and looked under his tail, "You look a little loose under there. Perhaps you should take some time to rest."

A grin grew on the fox's face and he chuckled, "Heh, Cordan. I got plowed by a horse last night; he filled me so well, I can still feel it; he had some amazing balls; what a handful; I could've played with those all night with his fantastic cock over my shoulder, but he was ready to work me like a field and boy did he ever have some seed to plant; good thing I can't get pregnant I'd be big as a house with an army of little horses inside me, but he sure did try; what a load might still be some up there. Want to take a look?"

"No thank you, Tod," the doc stepped back and pulled off his gloves. Pinny took them as she cleaned up.

The fox stood up and tested his tail, "Feels better already. I knew I could count on you to get me right. Too bad I won't see you again. Gotta make sure Ack thinks I'm dead or he'll make it true."

"Tod," the doc called for his attention again as Pinny handed him a bag that he passed to the fox, "Here's some more antibiotics to prevent infection and gauze and tape to change the wrap. If you can't reach it well enough yourself, you should make sure to get help from someone you can trust to do it right and clean." Pinny whispered in his ear. "Oh, and there is a pair of trunks in here that you should put on before you leave." He looked down at the fox's crotch.

Tod followed his gaze, then laughed, "Blame Cordan for that one. Just thinking about that fine equine gets me a rise. No matter, its not illegal to go pant-less."

"Actually it is illegal to parade that around. No pants is fine as long as it's relaxed and hidden."

"Right right," he reluctantly took the shorts from the bag and slipped them on. He held out his stiffy and offered it to the rabbits, "Anybody want to give it one last go before I'm gone?" They glared at him and he turned to me, putting a knee on the bench and waving his wang in my face, "How 'bout you?"

I leaned back and shook my throbbing head slowly.

"No? Your loss," he tucked it under the waistband and turned back to the rabbits, "Well, that's it for me any last requests?"

Of all the mess that was swirling in my aching head, only one thing came out, "Is his name really Ack?"

He leaned to Pinny, "He's kinda slow, ain't he?"

Pinny shot him a glare that I could swear came with ominous background music and he jumped behind the doc. The smaller rabbit provided no cover and stepped away from the fox to stand by his wife.

"I guess that's my cue to leave. Stay amazing doc and I'll catch everyone in the next life," he went to the front door, but stopped with his paw on the handle, "Maybe I should go out the back." He waved as he exited in the rear, "Lates!"

The silence that followed the feckless fox's departure only highlighted the pounding of my head. The rabbits cleaned up quietly while I held my ears. After a while, they stopped ringing and I looked up to find another glass of green water on the table and the doc quietly examining a strawberry lop-eared rabbit in a chair on the other side of the room. I realized I was in the way and attempted to get up again.

The doc saw me wobbling and hurried over to stop me, "Where do you think you're going?"

"I think I should lay down again. I'll just go back upstairs."

"No, you should stay down here where I can keep an eye on you."

Pinny was quickly on the other side and, while the little rabbit watched, they helped me across the room and sat me down on my old cot in the pantry. Doc returned to his patient and his wife gently stroked the quills on my head. "Are you feeling any better?"

"Better than when I woke up. That feels good." I closed my eyes as she caressed my ears and worked her fingers carefully through my hair. She gently pulled me forward until my face pressed between her breasts. Her soothing touch relaxed me and I leaned against her, putting my paws on her hips. She rubbed at my temples and stroked my cheeks, her paws pushing away all of the tension. She dexterously dodged my quills to massage my scalp and neck and I lost myself in the feeling.

After a timeless moment that wasn't long enough, she put her paws on my cheeks and lifted me away from her chest to smile down at me. I smiled back as thoughts started to enter my mind of how to repay her, but I glanced behind her and noticed the doc and his patient standing in the doorway. Even though I knew he wasn't jealous, I still sat back and pulled my paws away from his wife as if they had caught us in the middle of something more.

The surprisingly smaller rabbit looked up at the doc and he patted her shoulder, then smiled at me, "How is your headache?"

I thought a moment, then realized that I didn't hurt anymore, "It's gone. I feel much better."

"Good, but I still think you should rest for a little bit longer."

"I'm fine." I started to get up, but a twinge in my head told me it wasn't done punishing me and I sat back down. "Maybe just a little nap."

The doc chuckled, "Alright, we'll let you rest for a bit." He started to turn, but the smaller rabbit stopped him and whispered something to him. He laughed, "That's something you should ask him."

She timidly turned to me, "Mr porcupine?"

Ed whispered in her ear and she took another breath.

"Mr Billy, can I touch you?"

I looked up at Pinny as she fought a giggle, then turned to the small rabbit and held out my paw, "Uh, sure."

She walked over cautiously and stroked my arm, "You're soft."

"Uh, thank you."

She stepped closer and reached up to brush her fingers through my hair, slowly working her way to my quills. "You're soft here, too. I thought..." She stopped and carefully felt some quills on the back of my head. "Oh, there you're hard. Oh!" She pulled her paw back quick and I caught her, taking her paw to look, but fortunately the quill didn't stick.

I noticed her looking at me and wanted to break the uncomfortable silence, "You're soft, too."

She smiled and blushed, "Thank you."

I reached up and stroked down her wide ear, pressing it against her cheek, "You're soft here, too."

She put her paw on mine, keeping it against her face, "You like rabbits?"

I glanced up at the doc and Pinny watching us, "I like nice rabbits."

"Do you think I'm a nice rabbit?"

I looked back at her, feeling very conscious of our audience, "You seem like a very nice rabbit."

She pressed herself against me, hugging carefully, and I put my paws on her back. I looked up at Pinny and she was trying not to giggle as she gave me a suggestive look. I couldn't believe that she would encourage me to do anything to a child. I took her shoulders and gently pushed her back. She smiled at me, then walked to the door. She glanced back again and giggled, blushing as Dr Lem led her out.

"She likes you." Pinny was smiling wide as she stepped closer.

"That's obvious." I tried to sound uninterested.

"She was crushing on a beaver a couple weeks ago, but he's happily married."

"Oh." I wasn't sure that had anything to do with me.

"You two would make a cute baby."

I was surprised by her suggestion, "Don't you think I've caused enough trouble by making babies? Besides, she's just a child."

She sat down beside me and put her paw on my thigh. "You've made some people very happy. I know I am. And that little bunny turned eighteen two months ago."

"But she seemed so young."

"Audrey is small because she's from an animal based line. She's ... timid, because ... she was raped when she was seven."

"Oh!" I suddenly thought about what I had done with Jin.

"It wasn't gentle. Her parents don't follow the rabbit rules, but some of the kids at the morph school were being rude to her because she is a rabbit, so they tried a rabbit school. The rabbit schools teach the Rabbit Rules, but her parents told her she should finish school before she started a family. Some of her classmates decided to make that decision for her and held her down in the back of class. While the instructor watched, five boys got a turn raping her before another staff member broke it up."

"That's horrible!"

"She miscarried at three months and has been home schooled ever since, but what made it worse is that the rabbit school didn't do anything. They said it was an unfortunate event that could have been avoided if her parents had properly endorsed the Rabbit Rules with her."

"What rules would say it's okay to rape?"

"They don't. Most of the Rules and other writings from Elliot are about being nice to each other, but too many rabbits, and other species, focus on his belief that rabbits should breed as often as possible."

"Is that why you two have sex so much?"

She smiled and slid her paw under my apron as she leaned close to whisper in my ear, "No, we do that because it's fun." She found my half-erection and easily woke it to full attention, idly stroking it as she continued. "I just want a couple children and I should thank you for helping me with that." she kissed my ear and slipped her leg over my thigh, stroking my shaft as she kissed down my neck.

I thought about her husband and whatever patient he had in the next room and thought about making her stop, but that would leave me trying to sleep with a raging stiffy. I put up no resistance as she rubbed her sex on my thigh and firmly stroked my shaft, kissing my lips passionately. I wanted her to slide down on it and let me fill her, but she didn't move. Instead, her fingers teased me until I couldn't take anymore. She knew exactly what she was doing and just as I reached the edge, she slid down my body to slip her mouth over my shaft and catch it all. Without a word, she pulled my apron down and left, shaking her tail at me as it disappeared out the door.

I laid down and tried to relax with thoughts of Pinny dominating my mind. My dream started as a nightmare. I watched as the poor little rabbit was raped by not just five, but a dozen larger rabbits. I couldn't move or do anything to stop them. They were brutal and didn't care how much she cried, while a teacher told her to be quiet and take it like a rabbit. Then Pinny appeared. The other rabbits vanished and she helped Audrey stand up. They walked to me and she was smiling. Pinny picked her up and slid her onto my erection. I looked and Pinny's belly had grown large. She encouraged me to continue with Audrey, so I thrust. Jin walked up with a paw on her round belly and a smile on her face. I thrust again and Jalenne was there and very pregnant. Another thrust and Angie appeared with a large belly and even larger grin. Another brought Anja and another, the twins. As I continued, females that I hadn't had sex with showed up: the girl that tried to run away with us, the nice otter from the pie shop, and more; all very pregnant and smiling at me. Then there were females that I didn't even recognize. So many different species, even humans. I saw a sandy colored porcupine in the back, standing in a sunbeam. She reached for me and I lost it. I looked down and as I pumped my seed into the small rabbit, her belly grew and so did her smile. She thanked me and put a paw on my shoulder.

Everyone faded away and I opened my eyes to find Dr Lem's smiling face. He had his paw on my shoulder, "Were you having a good dream?"

"Um, I guess." I wasn't sure what to think of the dream, so I wasn't ready to share it.

"You were grunting and squealing so loud, I had to come make sure you were okay."

"I was?"

He laughed. "Just like earlier, it's what made Audrey curious."

"She heard me?" I was feeling embarrassed that I had gotten so loud from Pinny rubbing me.

He grabbed a towel and gave it to me. "I could take a guess at what you were dreaming about, but you should clean up before we have another curious guest."

I looked down and noticed that I had squirted across the room, leaving a line on the floor and on the edge of the cot. "Oh, I'm sorry." I sat up quick and hurried to clean up my mess.

Dr Lem laughed, "It's alright, but it's a good thing Jin only called and didn't show up to talk to you in person."

I froze and looked up at him, "Jin called?"

"Yes, I told her you were napping and she just wanted to let you know that she would be free tomorrow and you could spend the day with her."

I sprung up, then tried to keep calm, "Can I go?"

He laughed again, "You don't need my permission. Pinny can drive you over in the morning."

I smiled and tried not to show my excitement.

"Since you're feeling better now, once you clean yourself up, why don't you come out and help us with the rest of the day. I think Pinny made you some lunch, too." He left me to clean up my lap and my thoughts.

The afternoon passed quickly. I was excited to get to spend some real time with Jin and wondering what we would do occupied my mind. I had always shrugged it off to Mutt, but it did bother me that I never saw anyone again after we had sex. After meeting Jin again and learning that she not only didn't hate me, but wanted me to be part of her life, I was bubbling over with excitement.

The doc and his wife seemed to think it amusing, until the last patient was leaving and the phone rang. Pinny helped me clean up and set up for dinner while Dr Lem had a long conversation. He was so solemn that I was thinking it was bad news until he thanked them and hung up. He let loose a scream that turned into laughter, then ran over and jumped up to kiss his wife. He jumped onto the bench and grabbed the top of my apron to lean close with a grin, "I'm in!" He turned to Pinny and pulled her close, "We're in!" He kissed her lips, then turned and kissed mine.

I pulled back in surprise, so he resumed kissing his wife, but I interrupted,"What are you in?"

"Pendleton Mourning Memorial Medical Center. I'd been approved, but was on a waiting list for space. They're opening a new building next week and one of the doctors in the old center decided late to move to the new one. Now I get his spot. We'll have access to any equipment we need, scheduling support, coverage so we can take some time off." He kissed Pinny again and squeezed her tight.

"Sounds like a pretty nice improvement."

He broke the kiss suddenly and turned to me as his face fell, "Unfortunately, you can't work with us there. You would need to get yourself a medical degree of some sort." Pinny whispered in his ear and he smiled, "Yes, we can still use you around here. It will take a while for people to realize I've moved and they may still come here unscheduled, so you can be here, take care of minor issues and let people know where to find me."

I wasn't sure that I wanted to work in medicine permanently, but they were doing everything they could to make sure I was taken care of and I appreciated it. "I can do that."

Pinny grabbed my arm and pulled me into their hug.

The doc smiled, "We should celebrate."
