April, a wolf anthro, and her budding human boyfriend, Andrew O' Nickle, are having a wonderful date night when something goes awry...

Snickering filled April's apartment as the sound of bagpipes began to drone.

She and her budding boyfriend -- Andrew O' Nickle -- had just finished another episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, an old, satirical British horror show. The credits screen flashed with various stills from the episode, involving the main character's interactions with a mysterious and deadly 'Scottish Fog.'

It had been another nice date night for the two of them. It started off as any other Friday date night for the two college students, the two of them making dinner and laughing at their own sappiness when they lit the dollar-store candles. It wasn't much, but April was proud enough of the chicken and sauce they'd made that she insisted on a picture before the two of them ruined the little bed of rice it was on.

The she-wolf made sure to restrain herself when she dug into the chicken, even if Andrew wouldn't mind. The two of them had met a few months ago at one of the college's mixer events -- 'Retro Roller-Disco!' -- when he bumped into her. 'Crashed' was probably a more accurate term, but neither of them held it in contempt -- even if she did tell him to 'watch where you're going, fool!' The human was too small to do any real damage to an anthro her size, and she was plenty soft; she said it jokingly, and it eventually became a term of endearment. They broke away from their little groups of friends, then, talking. By the end of the night, they were rolling around the rink slow to the sultry beat of "More Than A Woman," talking about their nerdy tastes that ordinarily took weeks of explaining. They capped things off by swapping numbers, then swapping spit.

Since then, the two of them had been meeting at least weekly, with Friday date nights being a favorite. If there wasn't a party or event to go to, they'd stay in, make dinner, and play games or watch a movie to entertain themselves. That particular night, it had been a tense game of Smash Hits!, the mini tournament taking them all the way through the roster. They each ended up down to their last character; Andrew fought valiantly with his trusty pick, Toon Zelda, but April managed to knock him off the stage with seconds to spare.

The she-wolf let out a short howl of victory, her controller flying up in the air before she prodded at his arm, gloating.

"Guess who gets to pick the movie we're watching? Who does, Andrew? Who does?"

"You," he grumbled, slapping at her hand, then pushing back at her snout when she leaned in. "You do, you big, slobbery beast."

The she-wolf grabbed his hands and pressed her lips to his, nibbling on his lower one before fluttering her long, lupine tongue in and around his mouth.

"Slobbery enough for you?" she teased, pecking his nose, pushing him down on the couch.

She chuckled as he grunted, putting up a token struggle as the much larger she-wolf shifted him onto his back and laid herself on his chest, releasing his hands only so that she could stroke his cheeks. After a quick stop to caress her chest as it pressed up against him, he did the same, stroking the silky black fur that framed her mischievous blue eyes, locked on his. The slobbery beast let out a low moan when he moved a hand to her ear, scratching gently at it.

"Fuck... you..." she groaned, her eyes closed in bliss; he smiled, hearing her tail begin to beat against the couch slowly, intermittently.

April shifted up his body, nosing his chin and pushing it sideways, resting her head against his neck. She locked him in place with a hug, sighing heavily.

"Reach over and look up 'French Candles,'" she mumbled, rubbing slightly against his stubble.

He grunted, looking over at the old cuckoo clock the she-wolf had sitting on the wall, the old-world item standing out amongst her modern, minimalist style.

"Babe, it's like 10:40 already," Andrew replied, scratching at her ear, "I don't think we'd have enough time."

The she-wolf tensed for a moment, then squeezed him tighter, humming happily.

"Put on Darkplace, then. And pet me, loser."

Andrew grunted, doing so dutifully with a single hand on the controller, the other going to work like she asked.

As long as they'd been dating, the she-wolf was adamant that he not stay the night, and that he always left by midnight. She'd told him that it was a condition of her lease, and that the landlord, with all her cameras, was oh so eager to add a little extra to her monthly income via fees and charges. Andrew thought it was strange, at first, but given that there were indeed cameras around the property -- and more importantly, she was the one with a studio apartment -- he didn't question it. The fact that he'd remembered, and cared about it made April all the more comfortable with him. Not comfortable enough, though, to reveal why it really was that she insisted on kicking him out before midnight.

And so, the two of them cuddled through a few episodes, chuckling together somewhat sleepily, the wine they'd had with dinner only aided by the beers they had between episodes three and four. When the latter rolled to a close, the mystery of green ape-transforming water solved, April sighed heavily once more, beginning to disentangle herself.

"No, no..." Andrew plead, clutching to his new, living heated-blanket, "Just one more, please..."

"I wish, baby, but two's the limit, remember?"

The she-wolf maneuvered her muzzle to press a kiss against his forehead, licking him sloppily as well.

"There's always next week."

"Come on... we've got a little time. It's only 11:30 -- these episodes are only 20 minutes, tops. We can sneak one more in before I've gotta go."

April hummed in thought; Andrew ran his hands over her ribs, making her breath hitch. The she-wolf scooted down the human's frame, leaning up just enough to slide his hands beneath her faded tee before settling back down on him, rubbing her cheek on his chest.

"One more, but that's it."

Andrew made a soft sound of acknowledgment, much more focused on the soft body-fur he was running his hands through.

"Well...?" the wolf asked after a moment. "Hit the next one, fool!"

"You want me to stop petting you, doggy?"

She nipped at his ear with a growl, getting a giggling yelp.

"I have to do everything around here," the she-wolf sighed, shifting her hold and stroking his hair while she fumbled with the controller.

When the synths of the intro began to play, she pulled him in for another deep kiss. Their tongues twisted, hers delving deep into his soft interior while his ran over her teeth. They each let out little moans past each other's lips, her claws tightening in his hair while his fingers dug into her fur. She drew back with a slight gasp, Andrew letting one loose as well; there was no denying the heat that was between them now, particularly between their hips.

"Such an inconsiderate human," April teased, rubbing her muzzle along his cheek before resting it in the crook of his neck. Andrew kissed the side of her head before turning to the TV as well, watching the opening sequence that aped the forest scenes from Evil Dead.

When those bagpipes droned over the ending credits, the two of them snickering at the stills, April adjusted herself on him, bringing her body lower on his, shifting so she straddled a knee.

When the snickering ended, the kissing began again. Her claws slid beneath his shirt, dragging along his chest just enough to make him gasp into her maw; he raked his nails across her lower back, slowly and firmly, feeling the bumps of her spine. She pressed into his knee, his shirt rolling up as her hands shifted to his shoulders. April sucked in a breath between her teeth, feeling the human's dull nails dig in. She clenched her legs around his knee, and she could feel his hips twitch against her lower ribs. The she-wolf's rumble filled the room as she pulled back, ripping his shirt off all the way, pulling herself back astride him and raking her claws down his chest hard enough to leave red lines.

"Oh, fuck," Andrew panted, pressing up against her hard enough to actually move her.

"Fuck, April..."

"Let me make it better, poor humie."

She reveled in his squirming when she dipped down, dragging her tongue over the freshly tender flesh of his torso, feeling the flush of his skin and the individual thin hairs. He shuddered, her strokes short and aggressive, her tongue soft and wet. He clung to her ears as she coated his entire stomach, then chest, then neck. She clung to him almost as tight when she again assaulted his face, a flurry of teeth and tongue.

They'd never done it before. They both were waiting for the other to make the first move, Andrew figuring the giant beast would just eventually rip off her clothes then his, while April assumed the cute human would eventually just beg for it too cutely to resist. It seemed like neither of their predictions were going to be accurate, because it was one thing they both knew was happening, here and now. Andrew's shirt was off, and now April's was too; he reached down to fumble with his pants, and she did too, their breaths intermingling all the while. Her eyes seemed to glow in the faint light of the television, his skin a similar blue hue. They stared at each other, panting when she drew away, bringing his hands up the matted fur of her bare stomach, pressing them into the curves of her bust.

"...Hold these," she panted; he nodded, shivering as she drew her rough paw-pads down his arms, his ribs, his sides.

It was as the dark she-wolf hooked her claws into his waistband that the cuckoo emerged from the clock, whistling somewhat deeply. April froze, twitching in time with the clock's metallic chimes.

"April? What--"

"Go!"

She was off him in a blur of black fur, tripping over her own pants, half-reaching for them before she stumbled backwards.

"Go!" she repeated, her voice shaking, "pull your pants up and go!"

"April, it's not the end of the world... I -- I'll pay whatever the landlady bitch charges you."

The she-wolf cursed, twitching as she fled to the bathroom.

"April!" Andrew yelled, following her. "April, seriously, it's not that bad! I can handle it!"

"Go away!" she yelled back, her voice strained, "Just take your clothes, and go!"

"Apri--"

Andrew's inquiries were cut short when she began to whine on the other side of the door, making him drop his pants again.

He'd only heard her do it once or twice, and she wasn't one to do it easily. The sad movies they'd watched just made her cry, not whine.

"April? April, are you okay?"

Her only response was a stifled noise of pain, the growling whine she let out sounding unnatural, unholy. He began to bang on the door, calling her name. The noises only got louder, more tortured; he redoubled his efforts, yanking at the lock and smashing at the door. Andrew didn't know how long it went on, only that he eventually couldn't hear it anymore over his own shouting and pounding.

"April?" he asked again, quieter this time.

There might have been a whimper in response.

"Fuck... Shit... Fuckshitfuckshit..."

He scrambled for his pants, rifling through his pockets before cursing again, shuffling towards the table.

"April, it's going to be alright! I'm calling an ambulance!"

"No!"

Andrew froze.

"N-no! Don't... don't call them."

The voice behind the door was different. Lighter, softer. But he knew it was still hers. Slowly, listening carefully, he tiptoed back to the bathroom door, only now feeling the ache in his hands.

"You're alright?"

"Y-yeah."

He could hear her sniffle.

"What happened?"

"Nothing. G-go."

"Bullshit. Are you okay?"

"I told you, yes! Now would you just go? 'Fly, you fool!' and all that!"

Her voice cracked; it never does that. And he'd heard the she-wolf angry before -- he didn't feel that telltale rumble reverberating in his chest.

"No. Not until I see you're okay."

"I am! Now leave! I -- I don't want to get charged."

The human thumped a hand against the door, leaning close to it, trying to phase through it as he spoke.

"April, that bitch can drain my savings dry if that's what it takes to make sure you're safe. Then I'll make her kiss my ass for saving one of her tenants."

After a moment, there was weak laughter from the other side of the door.

"You're such a dork..."

"Look who's talking; you quoted Lord of the Rings at me, missy."

April didn't respond, Andrew unable to make sense of the faint noises he could just barely hear.

"Please, April. I want -- I need to know you're alright."

After a moment of silence, there was a shuddering breath.

"Promise not to freak?"

The human didn't hesitate.

"I promise."

He backed away from the door, hearing feet on tile; the lock echoed throughout the apartment, the turning of the knob seeming to take ages.

Then the door opened, and a woman, nearly naked, stood there, about to cry.

Her skin was pale, her hair jet black and long; she clutched a bra and pair of panties far too large for her to her body, a set that Andrew recognized after a moment.

"A-April?"

The she-wolf -- now a human -- responded with a sob, rushing to him and falling on him.

Now that she was about his size, Andrew didn't get immediately crushed when he held her back.

She threw her arms around him, holding him tight as she tried to talk through the tears, failing miserably. When he recovered from his shock, he realized his arms were already around her, stroking her back gently.

"S-slow down, April."

"April, it's okay."

"April."

He held her tight, pressing his face in her hair and shushing her softly. Eventually, she calmed down; they stood just like that for a long time. April was the one to pull away first, sniffling.

Her eyes were still that immistakeable blue.

"I understand," she said, her voice still raw.

"I understand if you -- if you never want to see me again."

Andrew was shocked for the second time that night.

"W- what?"

"I'm cursed!" the former she-wolf shouted, "I'm cursed! That stupid clock -- gets passed down in my family, and -- and now, any night when the moon's not out or full, and it hits midnight, I turn into this!"

She gestured down at herself -- letting the she-wolf sized garments fall. She let out a sobbing sigh; Andrew tried to decide if he should look away or not.

"S-so, I get it. J-just, don't tell anyone, okay?"

He decided to look at her. At her face, now level with his. He moved in, tracing a finger over her cheek: the skin was smooth, soft, warm from all the flush.

"April," he whispered, "I don't care."

She looked up at him, sniffing.

"You... you don't?"

"I love you," he said.

The words came easy.

"I love you, no matter what. Even if you're cursed, even if you're a human."

He poked her in the snout -- er, nose.

"Even if you beat me at games and pick shitty movies."

April smiled, a weak chuckle coming from her throat.

"S-shut up."

"Make me."

Her eyes became piercing, and she pushed him away with a laugh.

"You horny little fuck! You seriously thought that line would work?"

"You're the one that made me watch 'My Roman Romance!'"

"Fuck you!"

She picked up her discarded, oversized bra and threw it at him, the panties following when that bounced off. When the laughter died down, and he was still looking at her face, she walked up to him, pulling him into another hug.

"I love you, too."

They sat like that for a while, before Andrew broke the silence.

"That whole thing with the landlady is horseshit, right?"

"Yeah."

"Cool... do you mind if I stay the night? I think the booze might have gotten to me."

April sighed, pulling away from him.

"Of course, my fool. My precious, precious fool."

Happy April Fools!
