I'm real sorry about how long it took to post this. Things were happening and it derailed my plans. For those that are still involved in this series, this is the second to last chapter. The next chapter WILL be the last one. All loose ends will be tied. I hope you enjoy this world as much as I have. Thanks for all the comments and views you have given me. This series is all due to your comments and ideas to keep it going. I hope you enjoy it. As usual, let me know what you think in the comment section below.

It was a beautiful sunny day. The sun was high and bright in the sky, warming the earth with its golden rays. Birds sang their songs in the tree tops as the wildlife scurried about looking for food. But all was not good at the cemetery. Ryudo looked on as they lowered the caskets containing his childhood friend and brother along with his love into the holes. He heard the whines as he looked to the right to see all the hybrids with tears in their eyes, ears folded, and tails limp. He looked to his right to see Blake's parents crying, watching their son and Caroline be lowered into the ground. No parents should be burying their child. It should be the other way around.

“Sorry for your loss,” the priest said with a bow.

Ryudo balled his fists angrily. This is all because of that stupid company and Psi. He'd kill the lizard the next time he saw him. When his parents asked what happened, he couldn't look them in the eye as he told them everything at the hospital.

“Ryudo?”

He looked up to see Blake's mom looking at him.

“Thank you for trying to save them.”

“I failed you Mrs. Johnson. I don't deserve thanks.”

“Yes you do. I know you tried non stop. Blake would've done the same for you.”

“I feel like it's my fault that this has happened.”

She cupped his cheeks gently and shook her head slowly.

“You are not to blame Ryudo. Blake told you not to sign away you what you worked so hard to achieve.”

“I'll make them pay,” Ryudo said angrily.

“Revenge won't bring Blake back. Don't do anything to jeopardize your career. I would hate to see you end up like Blake. I consider you a son, just like him.”

Ryudo held his head down, tears falling freely from his eyes. She held him close as he cried softly.

“Just be strong and carry on in Blake's name. Can you do that for me?”

Ryudo calmed down somewhat before nodding weakly. Blake's mom smiled before kissing his forehead, turning to leave with her husband. Everybody went to their cars except for Ryudo who stood at the grave. Flashbacks of everything they went through ran through his head. His phone vibrated in his pocket as he pulled it out and answered without look at the ID.

“Dr. Peterson speaking.”

Who else is going to die Peterson until you get off your high horse?”

Ryudo balled his fists tightly, hearing the phone crack a little in his grasp.

“You try anything and I'll hunt you down.”

That would be a neat trick. Drop out now and accept the deal proposed to you. You would be better off in the long run.”

“You tell him if he tries anything, I'll kill him personally.”

A chuckle was heard before the person spoke up.

You had your hands full with Psi. What makes you think you'll get lucky twice?”

“You don't know me then.”

And I'm glad I don't know a fur lover like you. It would make me sick to my stomach. But no matter. Anytime you want to live on easy street, call us. Oh, beautiful funeral. Love the small speech you did. Real heart warming.”

Ryudo's eyes went wide at that as he scanned the area around him as the dial tone was heard.

“Ryudo, are you okay?” Gail asked.

Ryudo looked at him before scanning the area again.

“Yeah stripy, I'm fine.”

Ryudo looked down at the grave again. He grabbed the rose in his jacket pocket, giving it a kiss before tossing it into the hole. With a shaky sigh, he turned and headed back to this car.

“Wow, you guys did a great job,” Kelley said, walking through the remodeled house.

“Yep. You know I have friends,” Trevor replied with a happy wag.

Everything looked brand new. The walls were painted. New carpet was laid out and windows replaced and sparkling.

“How much did this cost?”

“Nothing. The company I spoke to was one of your supporters and jumped at the chance to help you.”

“I must thank them then. They did an unbelievable job.”

They walked out the house where Issac was standing guard.

“Only two more days and you guys will be free. Once that happens, will you leave me?” Kelley asked, heading to the car.

“You hired me full time remember?” Trevor grinned.

“I don't want to leave either. None of us do,” Issac said driving.

Kelley chuckled at that before patting both of their shoulders.

“You guys are more then welcomed. Besides, I need a best man Trevor.”

Trevor's ears perked at that, tail wagging happily.

“I'd be honored Kelley.”

“Great.”

They drove along with idle chatter and laughter. Issac took a turn down the street before seeing a bad accident that was blocking the road. It was a two car pile up as both of them were on their sides, glass littering the floor along with car parts.

“That looks pretty bad,” Trevor said.

“I'll see if anybodies hurt,” Kelly said getting out.

He walked over to where the few people were standing and talking to each other. It looked like none of them were seriously injured.

“Howdy. Is everyone okay?” Kelley asked.

“Yeah. Everyone's okay except for one,” a man replied.

“Need me to call the ambulance?”

“Won't be necessary.”

They turned around, guns triggered on him. Trevor and Issac saw this and got out the car only to be blindsided by two bears who pinned them to the car.

“You're a hard man to find Congressman,” a skinny man said walking around the wreckage up to him. “But we got you.”

“What do you want?”

“Simple. Give us the list and we'll let you and your butt buddies go.”

“I already did.”

The man chuckled lightly before delivering a hard shot to the stomach sending Kelley to his knees coughing.

“Give us the list fur fucker. Or things will get very unpleasant for you and them.”

“Do your worst.”

The man gritted his teeth before smashing Kelley's temple with the side of his gun knocking him out.

“Put the fucker in the truck,” the man spat out with disgust.

“What about these two?”

He looked at Issac and Trevor as they struggled to get free.

“Take them with us. Might need some leverage.”

They both let out growls at that, struggling harder before being turned around and receiving a strong headbutt knocking them out. A white truck pulled up as all three of them were stuffed inside before taking off.

Kaisl sat in his cell, back to the wall and knees to his chest. He didn't know what to do. On one hand, he had the chance to get out of this hell hole and be with Roman again. On the other hand, everybody has been avoiding him cause he's involved with the person who's getting him out.

“What do I do?”

A knock on the cell made him look up to see seven footer there. He walked over and slid down the wall before looking at Kaisl.

“Have you decided what to do?”

“No.”

“When is your hearing?”

“Tomorrow afternoon.”

Seven footer rubbed his chin, feeling the stubble growing in.

“In the end, the decision is yours to make.”

“But you said this Syzman person is bad news?”

“He is. He doesn't give a damn about anything but money. If you owe him something, you're better off dead.”

“But I want to get out of here. I want to hold Roman again so badly.”

Seven footer sighed before rubbing his eyes.

“If you want out that badly, then do it. Just be prepared to face the consequences afterwards. Your freedom might be short lived under his thumb.”

“What's the big deal about this guy that makes people like Riktor so scared of him?”

“Think of him like an evil Mister Rogers. Kind and gently on the outside, but a back stabbing, money loving son of a bitch on the inside. He used every trick in the book to get to where he's at now. Extortion, blackmail, murder, there is nothing he won't do to stay on the top.”

Kaisl sat there, letting the info he heard sink in.

“So I should tell the lawyer tomorrow no deal?”

“That is your decision. I can't make it for you. If you want freedom, take the deal that's given to you. If not, tell him to go fuck himself.”

Kaisl chuckled at that which made him feel a bit better.

“I'll just sleep on it some more. I just want to be with Roman so bad.”

“Love shouldn't come with a price. Remember that,” seven footer said standing up and leaving.

Kaisl sat on the bunk, head on his arms as he thought about everything. If this Syzman was that bad, would he keep him from Roman? What would he have to do to repay him?

“I guess I'll find out tomorrow.”

Ryudo sat at his desk, pen flying as he worked through the paperwork in front of him. It just wasn't the same. Normally Blake would be in here bothering him at this time of day. Even the hospital was gloomy as everyone felt the absence of Blake. A knock caught his attention as he looked up.

“Enter.”

Derrick walked in, closing the door behind him and taking a seat on the couch.

“How you holding up Ryudo?”

Ryudo stopped writing before leaning back in his chair.

“It hurts Derrick. I thought I could save them.”

“You did what you could Ryudo.”

Ryudo let out a grunt before rubbing his eyes.

“Its all this Syzman's fault. He sent that fucking lizard.”

“What do you plan to do?”

“I'm going to do more then break his arm next time.”

“What makes you think there will be a next time?” Derrick asked.

Ryudo looked at him before out the window. He was gonna answer but the phone rang.

“Hello, Dr. Peterson speaking.”

Hello Dr. Peterson. My name is Claire Jones and I'm calling on behalf of Steel Inc.”

“What can I do for you?”

I was wondering if you can make a house call? One of my hybrids is not doing good and we don't know what is wrong.”

“Not a problem. Give me the address.”

Fourteen fourteen Agape Circle. By the industrial zone.”

“Can you describe their condition?”

Sweating profusely and light headed.”

“Okay. I'll be there as soon as I can.”

Ryudo hung up before standing up and grabbing his jacket.

“You're in charge til I get back.”

“Gotcha,” Derrick nodded.

Ryudo went into the hallway, stopping at the supply closet and grabbing what he would need and other stuff just in case. Hopping in his car, he took off for the destination. He let his mind go back to that faithful night. He thought he could save them both. He tried everything, even jump starting. A shaky sigh escaped him as he stopped at a light.

“This shouldn't be happening. He did nothing wrong.”

A grunt of anger escaped him as he drove on, reaching the factory as he pulled into the parking lot. Grabbing his bag, he got out and entered the facility as the guard stopped him.

“Can I help you?”

“Dr. Peterson. I was summoned by Claire Jones.”

“Oh, the hybrid loving doctor? Yeah, she's in her office. Just follow the hall and go up the set of stairs and her office is the first door on the left.”

“Thanks.”

Ryudo walked down the hall, the strong smell of metal and iron assaulting his nose. He looked to the open area to see both hybrids and humans working together with smiles and joking while working. This is what it should be like. Hopefully that bill will be passed. He walked up the stairs and found Claire's office and gave a knock.

“Come in.”

He opened the door to see a horse hybrid on the couch, wet cloth on his head.

“Dr. Peterson?” the lady asked.

“That's me. Is this the fellow?”

“Yeah. That's Hubert.”

Ryudo walked over to Hubert and sat on the edge.

“How you doing Hubert? What hurts?”

“Everything. Every time I stand up my head spins like crazy. Plus I'm sweating like crazy. I've never been like this before.”

Ryudo reached into his bag and took out a pen light, looking into Hubert's eyes.

“Hmm, pupils are red and irritated.”

He felt around his throat before checking his other vitals.

“Seems like you caught a nasty bug.”

He dug into his bag again and brought out a pad.

“Once you get a chance, have your owner go to the drug store and get this script filled out. Drink plenty of fluids and maybe a day off or two. Here's some medicine for your headache.”

“Thanks doctor,” Hubert said, grabbing the slip of paper and swallowing the drink.

“Not a problem.”

Ryudo left the office, going back to his car. Once he got there, a police cruiser was waiting for him as the cops got out.

“Ryudo Peterson?” one of them asked.

“Yes?”

“We need you to come back to the station. There are some irregularities in the reports that need correcting. Can you come back with us?”

Ryudo raised an eyebrow at that. He was very thorough with the cops at the scene in detail.

“I told you guys everything that happened. What needs correcting?”

“We would rather discuss it at the station sir.”

Ryudo looked at both of them, studying their faces before looking away.

“I'll head there after work.”

“But you should come now sir and get it out of the way.”

“Are you going to arrest me?”

“Of course not sir.”

“Then I'll go after work. Now if you'll excuse me.”

They watched him get into his car and drive off. One of the cops pulled out a phone and dialed a number.

“No sir we don't have him. But he'll come to the station tonight.”

///////

A splash of water was thrown onto Kelley's face making him jump in shock.

“Get up asshole.”

Kelley shook his head before opening his eyes. He was in a dark room with a tinted window. Some of the tint was ripped off allowing a bit of sunlight to squeak through. What he could see from the light, was just an empty room with a couple of pipes extending from wall to wall on the ceiling. Over in the corner he could make out the bodies of Trevor and Issac.

“Don't worry about them. They'll be fine as long as you play nice,” the man said looking in their direction.

He looked over to the voice to see the same skinny guy that knocked him out, leaning on the wall and smoking a cigarette.

“I'll ask again, where's the list?”

“Fuck off.”

The man nodded his head to the guy behind Kelley who delivered a massive body shot that made Kelley gasp in pain, trying to get his air back.

“The person who hit you is a well known middle weight boxer. So I suggest you play nice.”

“Humph, you called that a body shot? You must've been in the pee-wee league with a punch like that.”

The man let out a grunt of anger before turning Kelley around in the swivel chair and started to unload blow after blow. The skinny man watched with indifference as he heard the heavy blows being landed on Kelley's body.

“Enough.”

The boxer let out a yell before leaning back and putting all his weight on one final punch which sent Kelley to the ground still bound in the chair. Kelley coughed weakly, blood coming out his nose, mouth, and left eyebrow. The skinny man lifted the chair up with some effort before shaking his head.

“You know, this would be so much easier if you just play nice.”

Kelley looked at him, his left eye starting to swell up.

“But since you won't play nice, we'll play hard ball. Come on in,” he said to the door.

The door opened and closed as a man in all black walked over and gave an evil smile.

“Is it my turn to have fun?”

“Yep. Start on the tiger.”

“Ohh, a pleasure. Give me a hand Ivan.”

The man and Ivan lifted Issac up before suspending him upside from his restraints on one of the metal pipes.

“How long will it take?” the skinny man asked.

“Do you want fast or slow?”

“Slow.”

“About an hour give or take.”

Kelley watched as the man pulled out a knife, going for the throat.

“Leave him alone!”

“Don't worry. Whether he lives or dies is in your hands,” the skinny man said producing a timer and setting it on the table behind Kelley. “Do it.”

The man nodded, making a small cut on Issac's neck which shocked him back to life from the pain.

“That cut my friend made will slowly make the blood flow to the cat's head, making him choke on his own blood. And you get to watch. Fun right?”

“I'll kill you for this,” Kelley said angrily.

“You have one hour to make up your mind. Have fun. Lets go boys.”

The door opened and closed leaving them alone. Issac started to panic, struggling to free himself.

“Issac, don't panic. You'll only make the blood rush faster,” Kelley said. “Trevor! Trevor get up.”

A soft whimper was heard from Trevor in response as he slowly regained his senses.

“Ke....Kelley? Where are we? What happened?”

“Short version, that accident was a trap and we fell for it. Now we're trapped in a room and Issac is going to choke to death if we don't something. Can you move?”

Trevor tried the restraints which were zip ties.

“Zip ties. Pretty tight too. Issac could bite them off.”

“I'll try. Better hurry. I'm starting to feel light headed.”

Trevor inched his way over as he held his arms up to Issac's maw as he started biting. In between gnaws, he started to cough up blood.

“I'm sorry,” Kelley said, head down.

“For what?” Trevor asked.

“I didn't think they would go to this extreme to stop me. All I wanted was for hybrids to be equal and free. To enjoy life to the fullest. Now it looks like that won't happen.”

They looked at each other before Kelley.

“We choose to help you Kelley because we believe in your cause. Nobody else is going to stand up for us. Don't give up on us yet. We haven't given up on you. We'll get you to the President and that bill will be signed,” Trevor said with a smile.

“And then, you and Lilly will be married and live happily ever after,” Issac added, finally biting through the plastic. “Got it,” he sighed, coughing again as more blood rushed out.

Trevor rubbed his wrists, getting the blood flowing again. Trying to stand was tricky since his feet were bound as well. He managed after a bit and looked at the rope holding Issac upside down.

“Don't think my teeth will free you in time,” Trevor said looking at the timer.

“Leave me then. Get Kelley out of here,” Issac said softly.

“Request denied,” Trevor said looking around.

He traced the pipe to the wall and couldn't help but smile. The wood was weak so he could dislodge it easily. Hopping up, he grabbed the pipe and started to pull down with all his might. Kelley watched before looking at Issac as his eyes started to close.

“Issac!? Hang in there. Don't give up.”

Trevor growled, pulling harder as the wood started to crack.

“Come on you son of a bitch.”

A snarl left his muzzle as he pulled hard one more time, dislodging the pipe and falling to the floor with a yip. Issac fell also, moving slowly. Trevor hurried over checking his pulse.

“Still with us. Going to need to cover this cut.”

“Use my shirt,” Issac said weakly.

Trevor ripped the sleeve off one of his arms and tied it around Issac's neck, putting him in a sitting position to get the blood flowing normally. With that done, he went to check on Kelley.

“Damn, they did a number on you,” Trevor said with a chuckle.

“I've had worse.”

Trevor started to gnaw on the ties, being carefully not to bite Kelley. After a few minutes, he was free as he rubbed his wrists.

“We don't have much time before they come back,” Kelley said, looking at the timer that had about ten minutes left.

“What do we do?” Issac asked, recovering a little.

“Do what you guys do best.”

They both smiled at that before their ears perked up at the sound of approaching foot steps. They hastily gnawed through the restraints on their ankles before hurrying to the side of the door. Kelley sat back down in the chair as the door opened, the skinny man and Ivan walking in.

“Times up. What is your.....”

He stopped when he saw the destruction in the room.

“What the hell happ....”

His words were cut off when he felt sharp claws on his throat. Kelley smiled before standing up and walking over to him.

“I said I would kill you, but them doing it seems more justifiable.”

“You won't get far you fur fucking asshole.”

“We'll see won't we. Do it.”

Both men's throats were cut cleanly as they choked on their blood before falling to the ground. With that out of the way, they made their escape from wherever they were held at.

Ryudo sighed, giving a big stretch as he finished his paperwork for the night. He couldn't wait to go home and cuddle with Gail. Saving his progress, he grabbed his jacket and left his office, making sure to lock it up. He passed by the front and saw Gloria as she wagged her tail happily.

“All done Ryudo?” she asked cheerfully.

“Yep. The weekend is here and I'm going to enjoy it.”

“Well have a good weekend off. You deserve it.”

“Don't I know it. But you know my phone is always on in case of trouble.”

“I know,” she giggled.

Ryudo smiled and gave her a hug which she murred to. Breaking off, he gave her chin a scratch before leaving. Hopping in his car, he started it up before remembering he had to go to the police station. The last thing he wanted was to talk about what happen. Pulling into the station, he found a spot and got out, heading inside. Cops looked at him before going back about their business. The sliding doors opened as Ryudo walked up to the front counter.

“Can I help you sir?” the officer asked.

“I'm here to see officer Simms.”

“One second. I'll call him. Please have a seat.”

Ryudo took a seat, one leg crossed along with his arms. He felt something in his pocket and gave a smirk, knowing he might need it. He didn't have to wait long as Simms appeared from the hallway.

“Ah, Mr. Peterson! So nice of you to come. This way please.”

Ryudo nodded before following him to the back and towards his office. Simms opened the door for him as they entered. Another person was sitting there in a blue suit, one leg crossed. Ryudo took a seat as Simms sat behind his desk, grabbing a folder and opening it.

“Now then, let's refresh here. On Thursday, you received a tape telling you to come to the shut down factory correct?”

“Correct.”

“And a lizard hybrid by the name of Psi was the suspect?”

“Again correct.”

Simms made some marks before speaking again.

“You gave the tape to one of our officers. But according to the lock up, that tape doesn't exist. Are you sure you gave it to us?”

“I'm pretty damn sure. I don't remember who because one of my friends did die in my hands.”

Simms made some more marks before tapping his pen.

“The one who sent you the tape, Psi. You said he was sent by Syzman. Do you have a full name?”

“No.”

“There are almost a hundred Syzman's in the system. Without a first name, all you have is probably cause.”

Ryudo made a sigh of frustration.

“So what's the purpose of having me here then? You could've called me for this.”

“Better to get the facts straight in person then over the phone,” Simms said stacking the papers.

The man in blue reached into the suitcase beside his chair and pulled out some papers before handing them to Simms. Simms looked them over before stapling the corner and sliding them over to Ryudo.

“Now then, could you please sign these papers for me and you can be on your way.”

Ryudo looked at them before his eyes went wide.

“You serious about this shit?”

“Dead serious Mr. Peterson. If you don't sign, you will go to jail for pre meditate murder, trespassing, and kidnapping.”

“So in other words, all evidence has been erased leaving me holding the bag? And I thought police were suppose to protect and serve? How much is this Syzman paying to have you in his pocket?”

“Let's just say I'm living on easy street like you could be if you just sign the papers and give up being a hybrid doctor. The evidence is stacked against you also,” Simms said with a grin.

“How so?”

“We have your fingerprints on the remote controller used to control the water. Psi's fingerprints are on it too, but that can easily be fixed. The tape that he sent you is in lock up, but it can be misplaced as well. Don't you see? You have no way out. Sign the papers and live a happy life,” the man in the suit said calmly.

Ryudo laughed at that before holding up the paper. And with a smile, tore it in pieces before tossing it back at the man.

“Neither you or this fucking Syzman will stop me from doing what I do,” Ryudo said standing up.

“If you walk out that door Mr. Peterson, we will arrest you,” Simms said.

“Arrest me then. But you might want to think about that decision before you do.”

“What are you talking about?”

Ryudo reached into his jacket pocket before pulling out a micro recorder and pressing play, hearing everything that was discussed.

“Pays to come prepared. I usually use this baby during my surgeries to make notes. But it came in good use today didn't it?”

Simms's eyes went wide as he stood up.

“You think I'm gonna let you walk out of here with that?”

“Don't have to. This is electronically connected to my computer. So all I do is hit send,” Ryudo said pressing the button as a beep was heard, “And it's saved on my computer. Here you go. You can have it now. Only costs about thirty bucks so I can get a new one tomorrow. Have a good day and stay the fuck away from me or you'll have an early retirement.”

Ryudo tossed the recorder at him before opening the door and leaving. Simms was steaming angry as he tossed the recorder against the wall hearing it smash.

“That little fucker.”

“Smarter then we thought,” the man said getting up, fixing his suit.

“What do we do?”

“What do you mean we?”

“Your voice is on that also.”

“True. But I have better attorneys then you. Good luck,” the man said leaving.

Simms kicked the desk hard as he let out a yell of anger just as his intercom went off.

Simms, get your ass in here now.”

“Yes sir chief,” Simms said, gritting his teeth in anger.

Kaisl sat in the waiting room of the jail courthouse. This was the big decision he had to make. Would he allow this Syzman to control his life? Have every move being dictated and watched? Even worse, would he be allowed to see Roman? Or would he refuse the deal and spend God knows how long in this hell hole. He wanted to get out so badly, but seven footer said its better to be in jail then a puppet on a string.

“I just don't know what to do,” Kaisl said softly, head in his hands.

A knock on the door made him look up as the lawyer entered with the bailiff. The lawyer took a seat and opened his suitcase, taking out a pad and hitting a few buttons as the screen came to life.

Good afternoon Mr. Blume.” Syzman said with a smile.

“Um...hello. Who are you?”

Who I am is of no concern. Just know that I am your key to freedom if you want it.”

Kaisl looked at him before speaking.

“So that means you are this Syzman person?”

Syzman raised an eyebrow at that, confused on how he knew his name.

“Some one that worked for you, told me all about you. How you killed his lover and betrayed him.”

Syzman couldn't help but give an evil smile at that.

Ah yes, I see you met Dwight. Yes, we had a misunderstanding and events were put into motion that couldn't be stopped. But that's in the past. What matters is what I'm going to offer you right now.”

“Which is what?”

Freedom. What everyone in your position would cherish.”

“But my freedom comes at a cost correct?”

Syzman clapped at that.

Very observant of you. But sadly my boy, everything comes with a price.”

“What do you want?”

Its all written down for you in a contract. If the terms are agreeable, then sign the dotted line. If not, have a wonderful time in jail alongside Dwight. Oh, and be quick. The judge hearing your case is in my pocket. So she'll know what to do with the decision you choose.”

The screen went blank as the lawyer put the tablet back in his briefcase before pulling out a few pieces of paper.

“Here is the contract Mr. Syzman graciously made for you. Read it over, but don't take to long.”

He looked over the contract well. It stated that he would be employed temporarily under Syzman on stand by in case he was needed. He would be given a temp apartment along with money to buy food and clothes. It sounded good.

“What would happen if I didn't sign?” Kaisl asked.

“You would rot in here and probably be forgotten. Your parents already disowned you and you have nothing out there for you,” the lawyer said bluntly.

Kaisl held his head down. It did hurt that his parents disowned him. But they just don't understand anything that doesn't agree with their terms or views. Maybe he could see Roman once he was out also. But then the words of Dwight came to his mind. To owe Syzman is to have no freedom at all. But the choice is yours.

“What's your decision boy?”

Kaisl looked at him before back at the contract. With a shaky hand, he grabbed the pen laying there and signed his name. The lawyer let out a humph before grabbing it as a knock was heard.

“Your up.”

“Let's go. Just keep your mouth shut and let me do the talking. All you answer is no your honor or yes your honor. Got it?”

“Yes sir.”

“Good.”

They headed out the room and down the hall to a set of double doors which were opened by the officers on guard. Inside was a small court room with a court recorder and a few people in the seats. They walked through the small push gate to the small table and took a seat.

“All rise! The honorable Judge Jana presiding,” the officer said.

A lady dressed in the judge attire walked out from the side door and up the small stand, taking a seat on the leather chair.

“Case number one eighty seven, the state versus Kaisl Blume.”

Jana looked through the file given her. Her eyes scanned the paper before complete disgust was seen.

“How does the defendant plead?”

“Guilty with request to plea bargain.”

“Show me your claim.”

The lawyer handed the bailiff the contract as he brought it up to her. She read it over before looking at Kaisl.

“Mr. Blume, I hope to God you know how lucky you are. If this was any other case, I'd throw your fur fucking ass in the darkest, fucking hole possible along with the rest of your kind.”

Kaisl held his head down as she continued.

“Can't believe what people do these days. If you want to get laid so badly, get a hooker or go to a club. Whatever. You are hereby granted your freedom as per terms of the contract. But if you break the terms, mark my words, I will pitch your ass into solitary confinement for the rest of your life. Do you understand me Mr. Blume?”

“Yes your honor,” Kaisl said softly.

“I can't hear you.”

“Yes your honor!”

“Good. Now get the hell out of here,” Jana said banging her gavel.

They left the courtroom as the bailiff was waiting for him.

“Get whatever belongings you have and meet back here,” the lawyer said.

Kaisl nodded before heading back into the cell block. He saw Dwight in the rec room and walked over.

“Well?” Dwight said.

“I took it.”

“Your decision, not mine. Good luck. You'll soon see the mistake.”

“Thanks for everything Dwight.”

Dwight froze when he heard that and looked at Kaisl.

“You spoke to Syzman I take it?”

“Yeah. He said mistakes were made and its in the past.”

Kaisl saw his eyes narrow evilly.

“Mistake huh? It won't be a mistake when I rip his head off.”

Kaisl shivered and went to his cell, grabbing what he came in with before leaving. Dwight met him at the door as Kaisl looked at him.

“Good luck and watch your back with Syzman. He'll leave you to rot when he's done with you.”

“Thanks,” Kaisl said holding his hand out.

Dwight gave a slight smile before shaking. Kaisl left the cell block and went back to where the lawyer was waiting for him and followed him out of the prison after signing some release forms. At the front gate was a black Cadillac with tinted windows waiting for them. They hopped in as the driver took off.

“Here,” the lawyer said, handing him a large manila envelope.

Kaisl took it and opened it, finding money, a prepaid phone, and keys.

“That phone is to stay on your person at all times. Those keys are for a studio apartment above a corner store. Can you drive?”

“Yes.”

“There's an old Ford behind the store covered up. Keys are in the apartment on the kitchen counter. Grab some clothes and food and be ready to work at a moment's notice.”

“Yes sir.”

The car came to a stop at a boulevard as the lawyer looked at Kaisl.

“The door to the apartment is located in the back. Apartment J is your room.”

“Okay,” Kaisl said getting out.

“Do yourself a favor and don't fuck up. Fur fuckers like you are rarely given a second chance.”

After getting out, the car sped off down the street as he watched it. Once out of sight, he walked to the back and saw the door, unlocking it with the key. Heading upstairs, he went down the hall until he saw his apartment and walked in. The apartment was all furnished thankfully. He tossed the keys on the counter and plopped down on the couch with a sigh.

“I hope I did the right thing?”

His stomach grumbled at him as he got up and went to the kitchen. Opening the fridge door, it was bare. Not even baking soda to keep it smelling good.

“Guess it's fast food for me. I'll grab some clothes also.”

He grabbed both set of keys and headed out. Outside, he went behind the building to see a car covered by a tarp. Removing it, he saw an almost brand new car waiting for him. Hopping in, he started the engine as it purred to life without a sound.

“Okay, first thing to do, is to find Roman. Everything else is secondary.”

Putting the car in drive, he took off for the grocery store for food.

///////

Trevor took another turn off the dirt road and onto the street. Issac was holding his shoulder as blood came down. They had to fight their way out the place they were held hostage at. Everybody was rough up as they sat in the car.

“Where to Kelley?” Trevor asked, grimacing a little with each small movement.

“Don't know. They probably have my mom's house watched and phone bugged. Could try Claude's place. Might be good there.”

Kelley looked in the back seat as Issac was tying a towel around his arm to stem the bleeding a little.

“How you holding up Issac?”

“Knife didn't go deep enough for muscle damage. I'll be fine.”

“Guess we all got our exercise today,” Kelley chuckled.

“Never a dull moment with you. Glad I signed on,” Issac grinned.

“Not out of the woods yet. Syzman's going to be coming at us hard. We have one more day til the big dog gets back. Just have to stay low,” Kelley added.

Issac and Trevor both nodded at that as they drove in silence. It took a bit, but they made it to the city limits.

“Stay off the main roads. Take Hampshire St. down to Crawford, then a right on Dudley.”

Trevor nodded, taking the back roads to Claude's house. He reached the gate as Kelly got out and rang the bell.

“Who is it?” Claude asked.

“Claude, its Kelley. Can you let me in?”

“Do I have to?”

“I got no where else to go sadly at the moment.”

A humph was heard as the gate was buzzed opened. Trevor pulled up around the circular path and parked. They got out slowly, bruised and tired as Claude looked at them from the second floor lobby.

“Looks like you had fun.”

“Define fun,” Kelley replied.

Claude chuckled before pressing a button as the front door opened allowing them inside. They headed to the large living room and took a seat as Claude walked down shaking his head.

“Your paying for the cleaning on those couches I hope?”

“Bill me,” Kelley grinned.

“Hey, Ajax and Grux. Come in here and bring that first aid kit.”

The two doberman walked into the living room with a large white plastic box, setting it down on the end table.

“My buddies will take care your hybrids while I patch you up. So what happened?”

“Kidnapped and taken someplace in the rural area. We managed to get away though, but not without some scars.”

“When's your meeting?”

“Tomorrow afternoon.”

Claude nodded, applying a bandage to his left eyebrow.

“You do know what will happen after the bill is signed right?”

“Hybrids will be free.”

“Yeah, and the war will start. Blood will be shed, humans and hybrids alike.”

Kelley was quiet as he looked at the hybrids.

“Let me ask you a question Claude and I want a straight answer. No bullshitting me.”

“Okay,” Claude nodded.

“What do you see when you look at Ajax and Grux? Fuck the interspieces crap.”

Claude looked at them as they looked back.

“I see hard working individuals that just want a chance in this fucked up world. Hell, they work harder then the people I employ.”

“And now you know what I'm fighting for,” Kelley replied.

Claude nodded his head and got up, heading to the kitchen. He came back with a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses, pouring each of them a drink.

“To freedom,” Claude said holding his glass up.

“To freedom,” Kelley replied with a smile.

They took their shots and smiled. All four of the hybrids ears perked up and looked at the door, just as the silent alarm went off.

“Looks like you were followed,” Claude said standing up.

“Thought using the back roads were safe. Sorry,” Kelley said.

“Don't be. I could use a little excitement. Right boys?”

Ajax and Grux both smiled at that, showing their teeth.

“Let us handle everything. You just relax,” Claude smiled.

Ryudo sat in the open meadow that followed the trail behind Blake's house. It was Saturday and he decided to take a personal day. The sun was bright in the sky as a few wisps of clouds dotted the blue sky. He laid back in the grass and closed his eyes, letting the cool breeze wash over him. His body tried to the fight it, but it let go of a single tear that rolled down his cheek.

“I'm so sorry Blake.”

He turned on his side and opened his eyes to see a pair of paws. Looking up, he saw Gail standing there.

“You okay Ryudo?” Gail asked softly.

“I don't know anymore stripy.”

Gail let out a soft whine before laying down with him, nose buried in his neck and ears folded. He hated that he couldn't do anything to help Ryudo. Ryudo held him close, giving his forehead a kiss. Gail murred before leaning up and locking lips sensually.

“Want to talk?” Gail asked softly.

“I just feel so lost. Everything was going so good. Then in a blink of an eye, good went to bad, and bad turned to shit. I keep thinking to myself, maybe I should've signed it. If I did, Blake would still be alive.”

“But then you wouldn't be able to do what you love,” Gail replied.

“And doing what I loved, cost me my best friend.”

Gail was quiet before speaking up.

“Ryudo, before I met you, nobody gave a damn about us. We were like dirt to people. But then you came along and showed me a different side to humans. A caring, loving side.”

Ryudo looked down at Gail as he continued.

“You not only saved my mom, but you gave me the one thing all us hybrids really want, love and respect. Every hybrid knows that if they are injured or hurt, they could go to you and feel better. You are a beacon of light to us.”

Tears started to form in Gail's eyes.

“If I never met you, my mom would be dead and I'd be all by myself. I couldn't live like that. So please, don't give up on us, on me.”

Ryudo's heart melted at that as he hugged Gail tight. Gail buried his muzzle in Ryudo's chest, holding him close. Just hearing that was enough resolve for him to make up his mind.

“I'll never give up on you stripy. You have my word.”

Gail's tail wagged happily at that as he listened to Ryudo's heartbeat which put him at ease. Ryudo's phone went off in his pocket as it vibrated nosily. He didn't want to answer it as he let it ring. Whoever it was could call back. Looking down, he kissed Gail with all the love he could share. Gail kissed back, whining softly and holding his mate close.

“Since when did you get all poetic?” Ryudo chuckled.

Gail gave a patented hyena laugh before smiling.

“You taught me to read remember?”

“At least your doing something constructive,” Ryudo chuckled, bopping his nose playfully as his phone rang again. “God, why can't they leave me alone. I need a day to myself sometimes.”

He took out his phone and flick the call button.

“Hello? Say what!?” Ryudo said sitting up at full attention. “When did this happen? I'm on my way.”

Gail looked at Ryudo face which held a mask of anger.

“Ryudo, what's wrong?”

“Seems like somebody wanted to make a decision for me. There was an explosion at the hospital. I need to hurry down there. Go home when your ready ok?”

“Okay.”

Ryudo hurried back through the path and to his car as he sped off towards the hospital. He could see the smoke in the air before pulling into the hospital parking lot. Fire trucks and police cars were all around as nurses and doctors helped the hybrids out. Derrick was talking to some of the nurses when Ryudo walked over.

“Sorry to bother you on your personal day Ryudo,” Derrick said.

“This takes priority over everything else. What's the damage?”

“Nothing major, but it did wreck havoc in the lobby. Luckily Phillip saw the strange bag. Otherwise, where it was positioned, it would've took out the hospital.”

“Where's Phillip at? Is he okay?”

“Suffered a concussion and some nasty burns, but he's okay.”

A fire fighter walked up to them before speaking.

“You in charge sir?”

“Yes.”

“Well, luckily the explosion wasn't bad and nobody was seriously injured. The blast did some damage but nothing some remodeling couldn't fix.”

“It was due sooner or later. Thanks for the help.”

The fighter nodded before walking away. Ryudo waited for the all clear before he walked in. Plaster was all over the floor as he walked over it, glass crunching under his feet. He already knew who was behind this.

“Desperate much?” he said, wiping some dust off some pictures.

“Looks like we're going to be a little slow for a bit,” Derrick said behind him.

“True. But this won't stop us. Look at where they tried to take out.”

He pointed down the hall to the inspection area which was damaged but repairable.

“Does this have to do with Blake?” Derrick asked softly.

“It has everything to do with Blake. They are pushing me to give in and live the simple life they called it. Well, it won't happen.”

Hunt walked in and whistled at the sight.

“Looks like a short vacation until we're back up and running.”

“Yeah, looks that way. What are you going to do during remodeling Ryudo?” Derrick asked.

Ryudo looked at the wreckage before at Derrick and smiling.

“Do what I do best, help hybrids. I can't sit around and twiddle my thumbs. If I do, they win. And the Peterson's aren't losers.”

Ryudo looked at the rubble all over the place.

“We'll be back open in no time. Just need to use a little elbow grease.”

Night time found Kaisl sitting in the car across the street from where he use to live. Killing the engine, he got out and went up the small steps to the front door. Police tape with the word condemned across the door in an X pattern. To his surprise, the door was still unlocked as he slipped inside. He tried the light switch and wasn't too shocked to see they turned the lights off. Luckily, he knew where the flashlights were at and grabbed one, clicking it on.

“Wonder if everything is still in place?”

He walked up the stairs and to his room where things were thrown about during the struggle. He swept the light left and right and saw some of the pictures knocked down. Bending down, he picked up a picture and looked at it. It was of him and Roman at his parents house during their birthday party. They were all gathered around the table as his mom blew the candles out. Those were the good days supposedly. He let out a sigh before placing the picture back.

“Would grab some clothes, but don't know if the police will be back. Don't want to leave any fingerprints.”

He went back downstairs and out the door, making sure to wipe the door knob off. Hopping in his car, he sat there and let his mind wander. A part of him wanted to see his parents.

“Might as well and tell them thanks for nothing.”

Starting it up, he headed for his parents house. They lived in a modest neighborhood where they took neighborhood watch seriously. He pulled up next to a two story house and looked through the window. He could see about seven people in the front talking and laughing. Swallowing, he turned the car off and headed up the stairs to the front door. Raising his hand, he rang the doorbell, hearing a cheery voice coming closer.

“Just a minute.”

The lock came undone as the door opened. Silence was golden as the lady looked at Kaisl.

“Who's at the door hun?”

His father came to the door and looked at Kaisl before anger flashed in his eyes.

“What the hell you doing here?” his father growled.

“Was hoping to say hi,” Kaisl said softly.

“You have no business here. Get off this property.”

“But....”

“I said fuck off,” his father yelled pushing him off the porch as he landed hard on the cement walkway.

Kaisl let out an oof as his breath was taken away. Looking up, he saw his father standing over his, fists tightly clenched.

“You ever step foot anywhere near this property again, so help me God I'll kill you. You are dead to us, fur fucker.”

His father stormed back in as his mother looked at him with tearful eyes.

“How could you Kaisl? We had high hopes for you. Such a big disappointment.”

“But mom.....”

“Go. Just go,” she said turning around and heading back inside, closing the door and applying the locks.

Kaisl blocked the tears out of his eyes as he stood up. Looking in the window, he saw his father pacing back and forth like a lion while his mother cried on the couch. Some of the guests looked at him through the window as he headed back to his car. He sat down, tears rolling down his face.

“What else did I expect from them? Still it hurts to hear it face to face.”

Putting the car in drive, he headed down the street. Before heading to his temp house, he made sure to grab some food. Having done that, he plopped down on the couch with a double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. He let out a burp as he wolfed it down with a happy sigh and belly full.

“So much better then prison food.”

Not having any energy to do anything, he laid down on the couch and was soon fast asleep.

Issac parked down a block from Kelley's mom house and killed the engine as he and Trevor looked out the window, eyes scanning the area.

“Well?” Kelley asked.

“Looks clean,” Issac said.

“Looks can be deceiving,” Trevor added, eyes still sweeping the area. “Your mom's house looks okay, but I can't be certain.”

Issac's ears perked as he saw a brief shadow thanks to a passing headlight in one of the cars near the house.

“I see them. Green car with the missing hub cap.”

“Can you guys get to them?”

Trevor and Issac looked around, surveying the surroundings. The street lights did pose a little problem but not much. The tall hedges provided adequate hiding.

“We can, but might be iffy,” Issac said.

“Okay. I'll be the distraction and pretend to be looking around. Get in good position to take them out.”

They both nodded and got out first, sliding into the darkness around them. Kelley waited for a moment before getting out and heading towards his mother's house. He made sure to look over his shoulder every now and then to play the part. He got up to the wooden gate and almost to the door when the sound of a hammer made him freeze.

“Can't I have a moment of peace?” Kelley said with a sigh.

“Fur lovers like you don't deserve it. Now, hand over the list. Nice and slow or you'll be sorry.”

“I don't have it. I already gave it to your boss.”

The assailant kicked him behind the knees bringing him to the ground with a grunt. Kelley felt the cold metal pressed to the back of his head.

“Last chance. Give us the list , or we shoot up the house.”

“You do and that'll be the last thing you do.”

The assailant was about to pull the trigger on the windows when he let out a grunt as Issac grabbed him by the neck and lifted him easily, squeezing tightly with his thick arms. The man gagged feeling his air being cut off quickly before his neck snapped, going limp.

“You okay Kelley?” Trevor asked, walking up to him.

“Fine. Leg hurts a little but I'll recover.”

They walked inside as Kelley was tackled by Lilly who was whining loudly.

“Are you okay? When you didn't come back.....”

She stopped and looked at his face that was bruised and a bandage over his eyebrow.

“I'm fine Lilly. Just really tired. Are you guys okay?”

“Drew's in the background keeping watch and Damon's with your mom.”

“Okay,” Kelley said, letting out a yawn.

He walked in the living room to see his mom playing Sudoku and Damon reading. She looked up at Kelley and gasped at seeing his facial features.

“Kelley? Are you okay son?”

“Peachy mom. Just super tired. I'm going to get some sleep for the big day tomorrow.”

Lilly followed him down the hall as the door closed. Trevor sat down on the couch with a sigh as Issac went to the bathroom.

“You look like hell boss,” Damon chuckled closing the book.

“Meh, part of the job. Everything good here?”

“Yeah. Had a couple of peeping toms but Drew took care of them. He's out back keeping watch and getting some fresh air as he says.”

“Good. I'm grabbing some shut eye. Long day. Be ready for tomorrow when shit really hits the fan.”

“Gotcha boss,” Damon nodded.

Ryudo sat at his desk, tea in hand as he read over the damage done. The inspection ward along with half of the ER was damaged. Since it was a hybrid hospital, insurance said they would cover only twenty percent and no more. Luckily Nick's owner Devon knew lots of carpenters and electricians that would be willing to work on it for an eighty percent discount since most of the hybrids were helped by Ryudo.

“It's all about who you know,” Ryudo smiled taking a sip.

The workers stayed overnight cleaning up and getting the hospital up and running. They laid up a large tarp covering the work area as the sound of power tools, hammers and other stuff was heard. Not to mention the laughter of the hybrids as they joked and laughed while working. A knock was heard as Ryudo looked up.

“Come in.”

Nick and Jason walked in, bagels in paw before taking a seat.

“Thanks for the breakfast,” Jason said, munching away with a happy wag.

“Not a problem. The least I could do for everybody,” Ryudo said. “I'm just surprised Devon got so many people to help.”

“You kidding? When most of us heard about what happened, we demanded to come help,” Nick chuckled.

“Well thank you guys so much.”

“Think nothing of it,” Jason added, licking his paws clean. “You helped us in our time of need. Now we get to pay you back.”

Ryudo smiled at that, finishing his tea before leaning back in his chair. It was still kind of early and the morning crew hasn't come in yet.

“What are you going to do if this bill gets passed?” Ryudo asked. “You still going to work with Devon?”

“Of course. He's a great guy and fun to be around,” Nick said.

“I just want to walk down the street without being looked down and spit on,” Jason added.

“Its going to be tough first week or so,” Ryudo said. “But I'll be glad to finally see you free.”

They both smiled at that, tails wagging happily. Derrick walked in after knocking before giving a stretch and yawning.

“Hey Ryudo. Didn't think we'd be open.”

“You can thank these guys for that. Stayed up all night cleaning up and making it look decent enough to open.”

“Damn, you guys must be tired.”

“We are. But its a good kind of tired,” Nick chuckled.

They shared some more idle chatter before Nick and Jason excused themselves to get back to work. Ryudo told them he would order lunch for all of them when ready.

“If this bill goes through, do you think anything will change?” Derrick asked.

Ryudo went quiet before looking out the window.

“Probably not. And the police will do nothing to help either. At least now, they'll be able to defend themselves without repercussions.”

“What about the farms?”

“They'll either have to shut down, or make it like a hotel,” Ryudo shrugged. “Not really a lot of open space for them without homes.”

Gloria knocked on the door before walking in, tail wagging happily.

“Good morning,” she said with a smile.

“Morning Gloria,” they both said.

“The morning crew is in the cafeteria waiting for you.”

“Okay thanks,” Ryudo said getting up.

He walked over and gave Gloria a hug making her murr and cuddle into his chest.

“Best way to start the day. Don't you agree?” Ryudo chuckled.

“No complaints here,” she sighed happily.

“Let's go address everyone.”

They headed to the cafeteria where everyone was gathered, eating breakfast and chatting. When Ryudo entered, everyone quieted down and focused on him.

“As you all know, we got attacked yesterday by cowards trying to keep themselves in power and prove a point. I for one will not be intimidated and will continue to work. As long as there is power to this hospital, it will stay open for the hybrids to get the care they need.”

People nodded at that as he continued.

“I apologize if you thought we would be closed. But if you do want to go home, feel free. I won't stop you.”

Nobody move as Ryudo smiled.

“Okay. Lets get it done. I'll have lunch delivered here for everyone to enjoy.”

Everybody smiled before finishing their breakfast and heading to their posts. Ryudo went back to his office on his computer and started going through his emails and paperwork when his phone rang.

“Dr. Peterson speaking.”

Hey son. I heard about what happened. Are you okay?” his dad asked.

“Yeah dad I'm fine.”

He heard a sigh of relief on the other side.

What's the damage look like?”

“The inspection ward and half the lobby got damaged the most.”

Looks like they were trying to put you out of business. Is insurance going to help pay for remodeling?”

“They said they would only pay twenty percent.”

Seriously? I'd drop them and get someone better.”

“Most insurance places won't cover hybrid hospital.”

Rustling was heard as his dad going through some papers.

Here, give these people a call. They are non partial and will cover anything.”

“Thanks dad,” Ryudo said writing down the number he gave him.

I got to go. Take care of yourself son and be careful. If you need anything, just call.”

“Thanks dad,” Ryudo said hanging up.

He rubbed his face a couple of times before somebody knocked on the door.

“Dr. Peterson, you're needed in Pediatrics.”

“Okay. I'll be right there.”

The loud ringer of a phone jolted Kaisl up from his slumber as he stumbled onto the floor from the couch. He rubbed his rear softly as he reached for the phone.

“Hello?”

Get up Mr. Blume. We have a job for you to do,” the voice answered.

“What am I doing?”

Go to the address and you'll find out.”

The caller hung up, but not before texting an address. Kaisl looked at it before yawning and stretching.

“I wonder what I'm gonna be doing?”

Getting up, he took a quick shower to truly wake up. Having done that, he brushed his teeth and got dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt. Grabbing the car keys, he went out the door making sure to lock it and headed to the car. Getting in, he started it before heading to the destination, stopping for a quick bite to eat. A small warehouse was the destination as he got waved inside. Finding a space, he got out as a big man walked up to him.

“You Syzman's little errand bitch?”

“I guess so,” Kaisl said in a soft voice.

“Good. This way then.”

He followed the man into the warehouse. The smell of sweat, wet fur, and other things hit his nose. There was adequate lighting as he saw various furs working and putting various things in boxes. Passing them, the man lead him to the backroom and down a set of stairs and into a door marked private. When he walked in, his face went wide as he saw male and female hybrids in cages fighting each other. The floor they were fighting on was covered in blood.

“This is horrible,” Kaisl said.

“Your point?” the man said still moving.

The large crowd cheered as the victor stood over the limp body of the jackal. They walked into a locker room where a poodle and a deer sat on a bench. He could see the blood all over their fur as well as various bruises and welts, even some pieces of missing fur.

“Take these two to this address and you're done. Simple right?”

“Yes sir.”

“Good. Now get going.”

The hybrids got up slowly to their feet and followed Kaisl out the building and to his car. Getting in, it was quiet as Kaisl got the car in motion.

“What happened to you guys? Did you have to fight somebody?”

“Yeah, other hybrids,” the poodle said softly.

“Do you know where I'm taking you?”

They were both quiet for a few moments before the deer spoke up.

“To be placed in the BHA where we'll likely be used for experiments, then put down.”

Kaisl hit the brakes hard making them jerk in the seat as he looked at them.

“What do you mean used for experiments?”

“When a hybrid out grown its usefulness in the ring, they are considered expendable and useless.”

Kaisl looked mortified at that. These are living creatures, not cattle. God, when is the bill gonna pass? He felt himself starting to tear up as the poodle smiled at him weakly.

“Don't worry about us. We've got nothing else to live for. All our family members are dead and its just us. So we don't mind.”

“But it's not right. I won't let this happen.”

Kaisl drove off in a different direction as the hybrids eyes went wide.

“What are you doing sir?” the deer asked.

“Taking you someplace to get better. Your family would want you to live.”

He made another turn as his phone rang.

“Hello?”

Mr. Blume, may I ask what you are doing?” the voice asked.

“This isn't right. Hybrids aren't things to used and toss away as you see fit,” Kaisl snapped.

You are in violation of your contract. Do you wish to go back to jail?”

Kaisl gripped the steering wheel hard before a tan car pulled up besides him. He looked over to see a man on the phone.

Don't jeopardize your freedom Mr. Blume with your emotions.”

Kaisl threw the phone onto the floor, eyes staring daggers at the car. The poodle smiled before holding his hand.

“Its okay sir. Don't worry about it.”

Kaisl looked at the poodle before at the road. Gritting his teeth, he turned the car around to the designated address.

////////

Kelley looked at himself in the mirror. His eye was swollen and had several bruises on his jaw and cheek.

“Such is the price of freedom.”

After brushing his teeth, he headed to his room where Lilly had his suit waiting for him.

“Dark purple Lilly? Do I look like a pimp?” Kelley chuckled.

“Yes, my pimp,” Lilly murred. “But if you don't want that, you can always go with brown or white.”

“Hmm, let's go with white.”

Lilly nodded, grabbing the white suit and laying it out on the bed. Kelley slipped on the pants, leaving them unbutton so he could tuck in the shirt. He slipped on the shirt, about to button it up when he felt the soft pads of Lilly caress his chest from behind.

“You ready to be free love?” Kelley asked.

“Been ready.”

He turned around, looking into those beautiful lavender eyes before kissing her. She let out a murr before wrapping her arms around his neck, tilting her muzzle to deepen the kiss. Kelley sighed happily, moving his hand down into her sweat pants and gripping her firm rear. She growled at that, pushing him on his back before straddling his hips and driving her muzzle onto his mouth. He held her rear tightly, feeling her tail wag rapidly and her hips grind into his. His pone rang on the night stand as they settled down, panting softly and smiling. He reached over and answered it as Lilly nuzzled his bare chest happily.

“Kelley gold speaking.”

Mr. Gold. This is president Lance Wilson.”

“Mr. president!? Its an honor to hear from you.”

Are you ready to meet?”

“Absolutely. Just give me a time and place.”

We'll be meeting for lunch at the Rizzo along with the speaker of the house as a witness.”

“Great. I'll be there.”

Excellent. I'll see you then.”

Kelley hung up before letting out a moan as Lilly nipped his neck. He ran his fingers under her shirt making her whine and kiss him hard. She broke off panting, eyes full of lust before speaking in a husky voice.

“You better get dressed before I keep you here and ride you hard.”

“That's a good idea. Any longer and you'd be screaming my name,” Kelley grinned.

Lilly murred at that before standing up. Kelley finished getting dressed, fixing his tie in the mirror. Having done that, he gave Lilly another kiss before smiling.

“Today my love, you will be free.”

“I can't wait.”

“And once you are free, I'll start getting the marriage ready.”

Lilly smiled at that, tail wagging happily. He gave her another kiss, tickling her chin before heading out to the living room. Trevor and Issac looked at Kelley with smiles. Damon had his head in Kelley's mom lap as Drew was tickling Sonya with his tail.

“You guys ready to make history?”

“Ready here,” Trevor said.

“Who's coming with me?”

“I'll go this time,” Drew said.

“Okay. Trevor you coming?”

“You know it. You guys hold down the fort.”

Issac and Damon nodded as his mom smiled.

“Go make history son. I'm proud of you.”

“Thanks mom. I'll be back.”

They headed into the car, Drew in the drivers seat. This is it. The day he worked so hard to get to. Years of blood, sweat, and tears would finally bear fruit. All the hardship and scrutiny he faced will finally shut up all the nay sayers. His heart couldn't stop pounding as he sat in the car. Even the hybrids were giddy as their tails wagged happily.

“Its been a long hard road. I'm thankful you guys survived the hardships we put on you.”

“Its a new beginning for everybody. Lets just hope we get along,” Drew said.

“It'll take time yes. But in the long run, it'll be to everyone's advantage.”

Drew turned another corner before coming to a road block with cops and agents. One of the agents walked to the driver's side as Drew rolled down the window.

“State your business. This road is block off for government business.”

“That would be for me. Congressman Kelley Gold. Mr. President is expecting me.”

“Ah yes, mister Congressman. We've been expecting you. Go right ahead.”

The cop moved the road block as Drew drove ahead. People were still going about their business as usual, with the exception of agents walking around. A few TV cameras managed to sneak in as they were waiting in the parking lot of the restaurant. Finding a spot, they got out as the reporters tried to get close but the cops and agents stopped them. Walking to the entrance, they were patted down before being let in. They found the president inside at a table chuckling away with another person. The president's features look young, but the grey hairs showed the stress of the job. Yellow eyes were full of life but held a high level of intellect. Lance looked up to see Kelley and smiled before standing up.

“Mister Congressman Kelley Gold. The man of the hour.”

“Mr. president, so good to see you in good health,” Kelley said shaking his hand.

Lance noticed Kelley's face and chuckled a little.

“Wish I could say the same for you. Bar fight?”

“Haha, I wish.”

“I'm sure you remember the speaker of the house, Jeff Topps?”

Jeff stood up and shook his hand with a smile.

“Now that we're all here, lets have some lunch and talk business. Your fine hybrids can wait with mine,” Lance said pointing to a table that held two jaguars in black and white suits.

Trevor and Drew walked over and took a seat, shaking their hands before chatting, tails wagging happily. Luncheon was served as everybody started eating, idle talk between them. Once that was over, they each had a cup of coffee in their hands as they got down to the good stuff.

“Alright Kelley, after all these years, you said you finally have enough supporters?” Lance asked.

“Yes sir. All right here,” Kelley said holding up a flash drive.

Lance snapped his fingers as a laptop was brought over. Jeff opened it, popping the drive in the slot that Kelley gave him. The screen came to life showing the names as Lance and Topps looked at it, nodding their heads in approval.

“You got some high ranking names here,” Jeff said scrolling down.

“Very impressive indeed mister Gold,” Lance added. “Looks like all your hard work and dedication will finally pay off.”

“Thank you Mr. President. I've been through a lot these last few weeks. But the opposers wouldn't stop me.”

Lance looked over the list again with Jeff.

“What do you think Topps?”

“Very high ranking people here with legit signatures. He even went over the amount needed to bypass. Complete dedication in my book.”

Jeff pulled his suitcase up from the side of his chair and opened it, pulling out some papers.

“We kept the bill in the trash pile to get rid of. But I guess we'll need it now won't we? Is there a printer I can use waiter?”

“Sure mister speaker. This way.”

The waiter lead him to the office, returning a few minutes later with the list printed out.

“Okay. Just need you to sign here congressman.”

Kelley signed on the line with a proud smile. Jeff watched him before signing his name right under his and handed it to Lance.

“All you mister president.”

Lance smiled, grabbing the pen and signing his name. After he did that, he applied the presidential seal and made it official.

“Congratulations Mr. Gold.”

“Thank you sir,” Kelley said.

“We'll make the announcement tomorrow so have a good speech ready,” Lance chuckled.

“Already started on it in my head. Thank you again sir,” Kelley said getting up and shaking both their hands. “Lets go boys.”

Trevor and Drew got up and followed Kelley out the restaurant and to the car. They heard the shouts of the reporters trying to get anything to report but was ignored. Reaching the car, they hopped in as Kelley couldn't help but laugh in joy.

“Its finally over!! You guys are now free!”

“Thank you for everything Kelley!” Drew said with a happy yip.

“You guys are worth fighting for. Everybody deserves the right to be free. Lets go give everyone the good news and prepare for tomorrow.”

Ryudo looked at the x-rays again before rubbing his chin.

“Well doctor?” the lady asked. “What's the word?”

“See for yourself.”

The lady walked up besides him as he used a laser pointer.

“That hairline fracture I was watching has gotten worse. Thus the reason for Wilbur's bad limp.”

“What do you suggest?”

“I can mend the bone, but he has to stay off his leg for at least a month.”

The lady frowned at that before looking at the beagle.

“I gave you fair warning about it before Ms. Cartwright. Looks like you choose to ignore it.”

“I need the house to be cleaned doctor.”

“Then I suggest you remember how a vacuum cleaner works. I'll schedule the surgery for next week. Have a good day,” Ryudo said, grabbing the x-rays and walking out.

Ryudo headed over to the front desk of the third floor lobby as Gloria gave a smile and a happy wag.

“Here you go Gloria. Set up the surgery for next week when they come out.”

“Okay.”

Ryudo leaned on the counter and stretched his legs out, hearing his stomach growl.

“I wonder when the food gets here? Should've been here by now.”

As soon as he said that, his phone rang.

“Dr. Peterson speaking.”

Yes, this is Queen's Pizza and Subs. We have your order here.”

“Sweet. I'll be right down.”

Taking the stairs, he arrived at the front where he saw two young men holding about ten boxes each.

“Right this way to the cafeteria gentlemen.”

They followed up the elevator to the second floor and placed the boxes on the table.

“What's the damage?”

“Hundred and twenty even sir.”

“Here you go,” Ryudo said giving him one forty. “Keep the change.”

He went back down the stairs to the construction area where the hybrids were working and clapped his hands to get their attention.

“All right everyone, lunch is here! Go enjoy yourself.”

All the hybrids smiled, placing their tools on the ground before heading up to the cafeteria. After washing their paws, they grabbed some slices along with some soda before munching down with laughter and chatter. Ryudo grabbed a few slices himself before taking a seat next to Nick and Jason who smiled, tails wagging happily.

“How you fellas doing?”

“Great! Thanks for lunch,” Jason said, mouthful of pepperoni pizza.

“Not a problem. You guys deserve it.”

“We should be done in about a week. The damage wasn't as bad as we thought,” Nick added, swallowing some soda.

“Great news.”

The joyous laughter filled the cafeteria as Derrick walked in along with Hunt. They grabbed themselves a few slices before sitting with Ryudo.

“What's the word on the dingo?” Ryudo asked.

“Grim. Too much damage on his lung and might need a new one,” Hunt said. “I spent four hours doing what I could to stabilize him.”

“Damn, Lung transplants are difficult to get. Any other suggestions?”

“Only other suggestion is life support for the rest of his life,” Derrick added.

Ryudo let out a grunt at that. Life support isn't a good option for anyone, hybrid or human.

“I'll call around. Maybe we'll get lucky.”

All the hybrids finished up their lunch before heading back to work, thanking Ryudo on the way. Ryudo just smiled before finishing himself. He headed back to his office and sitting on the couch was the last person he expected to see.

“Hello Ryudo. Long time no see.”

////////

Kaisl let out a sigh as he plopped down on the couch. All the things he had to do for Syzman was running through his head. It made him sick to think this is how Syzman operated. He had no regard for anything. Maybe Dwight was right about him. Maybe he did make a big mistake. But what's done is done. There was nothing he could do now. Plus he was free from those prison walls and Riktor. That was a bright side. Bad side was he had no clue where to start looking for Roman.

“If only I had some clue.”

He spoke to some of the hybrids he drove around and they didn't know either. He took another swig of soda before leaning back on the couch. There had to be some way to find him, but what? Maybe he could ask Syzman?”

“Yeah right. Fat chance of that happening.”

He finished off the rest of his soda before letting out a burp. Grabbing the remote, he turned the TV on as the afternoon news was playing.

Congressmen Kelley Gold met with the president today at this local restaurant. Details about what was discussed is still in the shadows. We'll get back to you as soon as we discover anything new.”

Kaisl muted the TV, eyes shining with hope.

“Could he have finally gotten the bill passed? Are the hybrid free?”

Finally something good was happening in the world. He was just about to lay down but the phone rang.

“Hello?”

Mr Blume, we have a few more errands for you to run.”

“Okay,” Kaisl sighed.

Don't sound down. At least you get to hang with your fur friends. Now get your ass to this location.”

A beep was heard as he saw the address.

“All right. I'm heading there now.”

He hung up and let out a sigh, tossing the empty bottle in the recycling bin.

“God if you can hear me, just give me a sign that I can find Roman.”

Ryudo sat there behind his desk, looking at the one person who he never thought he would see ever again.

“Jessica Wynn. Why are you here?”

“Good to see you too Ryudo.”

This was the same girl who tried to blackmail him into marriage and almost killed Gail. But something about her was different, almost normal looking. But the one thing he did notice was the slight bulge in her stomach.

“So, who's kid is it?”

“Brad Miller.”

“Brad Miller. I think I know him.”

“He was in your hybrid disease class.”

Ryudo crossed his arms before leaning back in his chair.

“So what do you want?”

“I'm came to apologize for everything I've done to you in the past. After my little trip to Never-land thanks to your punch and my hospital stay, I've had time to think.”

She played with her hair, twisting it with her finger.

“I shouldn't have tried to force you when you loved somebody else. I just wanted that love you gave them. But I knew I wasn't gonna get it. So I lashed out and hurt not only you, but your hybrid as well. For that, I'm sorry.”

This scared Ryudo cause he couldn't tell if she was bullshitting or not. Her voice sounded calm and steady. She chuckled a little before looking at him.

“If you are trying to find out if I'm bluffing, don't bother. My stay in the hospital help me realize a lot about myself.”

“I see.”

“I had issues. Lots of issues. And Brad was there for me every step of the way.”

“Good for him.”

Jessica chuckled again at the response.

“Still have that sense of humor. You haven't changed.”

“And I never well.”

A knock was heard as a young man walked in. He was about Ryudo's height with red highlights mixed in with his black hair. Light blue eyes were full of life as he walked over to Jessica and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

“All set hun?”

Jessica nodded her head before standing up.

“Good to see you again Ryudo.”

“I guess,” Ryudo said with a shrug.

A knock was heard as Derrick walked in.

“Hey Ryudo, I need your.....”

He stopped when he saw Jessica, eyes going wide.

“Jessica!!? Holy shit, they let you out?”

“Watch your mouth Thomas,” Brad said angrily.

Derrick looked at Brad before laughing.

“Brad the sinner Miller. You guys make the perfect couple since you both have marbles missing.”

Brad was about to advance when Jessica stopped him.

“I didn't come her to fight love. I came to make peace. I hope we can put the past behind us Ryudo,” she said looking at him.

“We'll see. Have a good day Jessica.”

She smiled at that before leaving. Brad stopped shoulder to shoulder with Derrick and spoke softly.

“Don't think I haven't forgotten what you did to me.”

“Name the time and place Miller. I'll stomp a mud hole in you like I did before.”

Brad let out a humph, bumping his shoulder hard before leaving. Derrick watched them leave before looking at Ryudo.

“Care to explain? I'm lost.”

“That was supposedly a brand new Jessica.”

“You believe that?”

Ryudo was quiet, remembering her calm voice and posture.

“A little. What's up?”

“Need your help in IC.”

“Okay, let's go.”

Kelley sat at the kitchen table, notebook out as he prepared his speech for tomorrow. He heard his daughter giggling in the front as Trevor and Drew played with her. Damon had his head on his mom's lap, letting out murrs as she scratched behind his ears. Issac was at the window leaning on it and looking out, tail twitching back and forth. Lilly joined Kelley at the table, tea in her paws as she squeezed his hand.

“How's the speech coming love?”

“More hair pulling then I thought,” Kelley said, balling another sheet of paper. “I just don't know what to say.”

“You're forcing yourself love . Just let it come naturally,” she said with a smile.

He smiled at that before holding her paw and bringing it up to his lips and kissed it.

“Where do you want to go for the honeymoon?”

Lilly giggled at that, tail wagging.

“As long as we're together, it doesn't matter to me.”

He smiled at that, pushing his chair out and pulling Lilly into his lap, getting a startled yip from her before she giggled as they kissed lovingly.

“Pretty soon, you'll be walking down the aisle to become Mrs. Gold.”

“I can't wait,” she murred, cuddling her muzzle under his chin and taking in his scent she loved so much.

“Do you want a big wedding or a small one with family only?”

“Small is better.”

“You got it love.”

She murred happily, nuzzling his neck before locking their lips again. Sonya skipped in before hopping in both their laps.

“Is Lilly gonna be my mommy soon?”

“That's right pumpkin,” Kelley smiled.

“Now, we'll be together always,” Lilly murred, nuzzling her happily.

Kelley smiled before ideas ran into his head.

“That's it! Now I know what to write. You two are the best,” he smiled, hugging them tightly. “Let me finish this and I'll join you guys.”

They got off his lap, Lilly giving him another kiss before heading into the living room. Kelley grabbed his notebook before starting to write. His hand moved rapidly, writing sentence after sentence, page after page. A hand on his shoulder made him look up to see Trevor standing there.

“What's up?” Kelley asked.

“Just checking on you. Everybody already ate and turned in for the night. How about you?”

“I will once I finish this.”

Trevor sat in front of him, paws interlocked and resting on the table as he looked down at them.

“Wish my parents could be here to see this day.”

“What happened?” Kelley asked, focusing his attention on him.

“They died on the farm I was bought on from malnutrition. She was so weak after giving birth to me. They were nothing but skin and bone when they died. Their once beautiful fur pale and without color. I watched as those bastards pushed them to work harder and harder. One night, we fell asleep huddled together as usually, only they didn't wake up.”

Trevor had tears in his eyes as they dropped onto the table.

“I watched as they dragged their lifeless bodies in the ground without care and tossing them into a giant hole. To my shock and horror, in that same hole were several other dead hybrids. After they tossed them in, they poured gasoline all over their bodies before lighting it. I screamed in horror and tried to run after them but my father's friend stopped me as I cried into his chest. He told me to be strong and carry on their names with my head held high.”

Kelley was heart broken at that. He stood up and walked over to Trevor, patting his shoulder as he looked up at him.

“They would be proud of you Trevor.”

Trevor buried his face into Kelley's chest as he whimpered and cried, Kelley gave him comforting strokes between the ears. After a few moments, Trevor chuckled weakly before letting go.

“Wow.....I'm......sorry about.....that,” Trevor sniffed, wiping his eyes.

“Don't worry about it.”

“I'm gonna hit the hay. Need my energy to keep the haters back.”

“Have a good night.”

“You too. Don't stay up to late,” Trevor said, giving him a hug.

Kelley returned it before taking a seat.

“No one else dies. This bill will see to that.”

Ryudo arrived at home as the lights were on. Shutting the engine off, he got out and headed inside to see everyone playing cards.

“Uno,” Rose said with a smile.

“No fair. You have to be cheating,” Gail whined.

Rose stuck her tongue out playfully as Shelley drew a card before smiling.

“I win,” Shelley said playing her finally two cards.

Both Rose and Gail let out a sad whine making Shelley chuckle.

“Never underestimate your opponent.”

“I had that game. Its not fair,” Rose pouted.

“Having fun I see?” Ryudo chuckled.

They turned towards the hallway to see Ryudo and smiled.

“Lots of fun. Want to play with us?” Rose asked.

“Would but tired. Long day and I just want a relaxing bath and some sleep. Maybe next time.”

Ryudo headed upstairs to his room, opening the drawer and grabbing some under garments before heading to the bathroom. He filled the tub up, applying some of his favorite bath salts before sliding in with a moan as the hot water relaxed his body. He leaned back and closed his eyes, inhaling the soothing vanilla aroma. The door opened and closed as Gail stood there.

“May I join you?” he said with a murr.

“By all means.”

Gail stripped his clothes off before dipping into the water, his back resting on Ryudo's chest as Ryudo held him close making him murr in delight.

“I wonder if Gold got the bill passed?” Ryudo said.

“I hope he did. Tired of wearing that stupid collar outside.”

“But you look so cute in it.”

Gail blushed at that before giggling as Ryudo tickled his ear. They sat in the tub, content in each others embrace before Ryudo chuckled making Gail's ears perk.

“What's so funny?”

“Just thinking about Shelley.”

“My mom? What for?”

“As much as her and Nick are going at it, I would expect the pitter patter of your little brother or sister soon.”

Gail shivered at that.

“But she already has me.”

“Yeah I know. You would think she would've learned her lesson.”

“Hey!” Gail whined as Ryudo laughed.

“Sorry, but you left yourself open for that one.”

Gail puffed his cheeks out before crossing his arms. Ryudo grinned before making small circles on his stomach, Gail's leg twitching. Ryudo knew every sweet spot on Gail's body. He couldn't help but moan softly, leaning closer to his mate. Ryudo nipped his ear softly before going lower and cupping those furry orbs. Gail sucked in a breath, feeling his cock emerge from its home and poking up from the water. A soft moan escaped his muzzle as Ryudo gripped it lightly before stroking it up and down.

“If they do have a kid, somebody will claim him or her. But you are mine stripy.”

Gail whined at that, feeling Ryudo start to go faster making him thrust his hips lightly.

“When we mated for the first time, I claimed you. You belong to me. Right stripy?”

“Y...yes Ryudo.”

Ryudo moved his other hand down, rolling those orbs gently as he could feel them pull into Gail's body slowly with each stroke. Gail never heard Ryudo talk like this but he wouldn't lie and say he has never been more turned on, cock throbbing hard and leaking pre into the water. Ryudo found that sensitive spot on Gail's neck and bit down. Gail's body responded instantly, going rigid as pleasure coursed through him. This would be the fastest he ever cum and probably the hardest.

“Ry....Ryudo.....don't....stop.”

“Go ahead and cum for me stripy. Nice and hard,” Ryudo said, panting softly as he was hard himself.

His hand was making the water splash with his motions. Gail couldn't take anymore as he folded his ears and let out a bark as he let go. Strings of hot cum shot into the air before splashing into the water, floating on the top. Ryudo made sure to get every drop as he kissed Gail's cheek.

“Beautiful as always stripy.”

Gail collected his breath before letting out a deep growl. Turning around, he mashed his lips against Ryudo, pinning him to the back of the tub. He broke off, a steady growl in his throat before speaking.

“Get in the bedroom now before I rape you and probably drown you.”

“You got it stripy.”

The conference room was packed. Every seat was taken as people waited for the president to make an announcement that was kept in the dark. Lance looked out the curtain and gave a whistle.

“Looks like a full house Mr. Gold. You ready to knock'em dead from shock?”

“All set,” Kelley replied with a smile.

“Then lets go drop them dead and make history.”

Lance walked out as the people went quiet, notebook in hand and pens ready.

“Thank you all for coming. I suppose you are wondering why you are here today? Well, today is a monumental day, not only for us but for everyone living in this country.”

Everybody looked at each other in confusion.

“I'll let this man explain everything in better detail. Come on out.”

Kelley took a deep breath, adjusting his tie before walking out to a barrage of flashes. He took a stand at the podium before addressing the crowd.

“Good afternoon everyone. I'm sure you're anxious to hear what's going on so I'll stop leaving you in the dark. The Hybrid Equal Rights bill, has been passed and signed by the president and the speaker of the house yesterday at lunch. So effective tomorrow, hybrids will be free!”

The crowd went into an uproar, yelling questions left and right as Kelley quieted them down before picking a lady reporter.

“Miriam Jones from Park news. Why go to such lengths to free animals such as them?”

“To answer your question Ms. Jones, everybody deserves freedom. If I remember correctly, this country was based on freedom.”

Another reporter raised a hand as he called on him.

“Issac Goodwill channel two. Why should hybrids have freedom? They started something they couldn't finish by fighting humans. We have all right to make them our slaves.”

“Ah yes, that rumor. I'll get to that another time. All I can say is no comment. Next question please.”

“Debra Hayes triple N. Can you explain why you did what you did? Why focus your entire career into helping these things?”

Kelley smiled before leaning on the podium.

“Now that, is the best question yet. I had a speech all prepared, but I'll just free style it.”

He took a sip of the water that was next to him before smiling.

“Let me ask this, what is freedom to you all? Is it the ability to do anything you want? Or is it the ability to do what you want to whoever you want? If its the second answer, then how do you call that freedom? I thought freedom was what this country was based off of. Patrick Henry said it best when he said, 'Give me liberty, or give me death.' Obviously, we choose the second option for hybrids. Now how is that fair?”

He saw the reporters writing before looking to the left and saw Lilly as she smiled at him.

“When people look at a hybrid, all they see is a stupid animal that isn't worth the time or day. But when I look at a hybrid, I see somebody just wanting things to go back to the way they were. There were no laws stating that hybrids had to wear collars, or walk around on their hand and knees on the hard cement. Somewhere along the line, we lost our humanity and became the same people back in the days of Pharaoh when he held the Israelite as slaves. Working them to death in the hot sun. Or taking parents away from their children, making them grow up without that love everyone needs.”

He looked around the room seeing people had stopped writing and were focused on him.

“Hybrids are just like us. They bleed and they cry. Sure they have fur and a tail, but what difference does that make? Look around the room. There are blacks, whites, hispanics. Every nationality in the world is here in this room. But I don't see you fighting each other or having a collar around your neck. So what makes us so different then them? Because we can read and write? Because we have high paying jobs and drive expensive cars?”

He took a drink of water before continuing.

“Why can't hybrids do all that? We already taught them how to drive and do other things. So why can't they enjoy all the things we do? Long walks on the beach with a loved one. Or a candle light dinner in a nice restaurant? Why do we decide who lives and who dies? Are we proclaiming ourselves as God now? I thought there was only one God? Boy, I'm surprised the church hasn't worshiped each and every one of us then since we think we are.”

A sigh escaped him before shaking his head.

“I think I rattled on long enough. This bill being passed is the opportunity to start fresh. I know it'll take some time to adjust to the fact that hybrids will be free and doing things that we do, but what difference will it make? We'll still have our jobs to go to. The sun will still rise and set. Nothing should change in our daily lives. Continue doing what you are doing. Just remember that hybrids will be walking with you paw to foot. Treat them with respect like they have to you all these years under the constant barrage of insults and punishments you think they deserve for looking at you wrong or dropping something.”

Everybody looked at each other as Kelley walked off the podium and Lance stepped up.

“Now then, are there any questions for me?”

Kelley walked behind the curtain as Lilly gave him a tight hug.

“That was wonderful love.”

“Thanks. Come on, lets get out of here and to our new lives.”

Lilly's tail wagged happily at that as they exited the building. Trevor and Drew were waiting at the car with smiles on their faces.

“You boys are now free. What do you plan to do?”

“Do you even need to ask?” Trevor said with a grin. “We're still hired to you. And will be until we die.”

Drew nodded at that making Kelley smile.

“Very well boys. Let's go home. We have things to do.”
