A city rocks amid a thunderous quake, and a single man stands upon a rooftop, watching and waiting as his final day in his hometown comes to a close...

This is a gift featuring my great friend, Syrlantar. It's old, and my writing has improved since, but I'd still like to post it up, for anyone who'd like to read, and for Syrl, of course.

Thoom.

An echo ricochets off the maze of walls, the deep booming unstoppable as it invaded every corner of the metropolis. The noise bounced from building to building, leaving a startled populace in its wake. Life in the city paused as the wave of sound passed through as the great crowds of humans and furs glanced about in momentary alarm.

In the streets, some of the furs and humans who'd previously flowed through the streets glanced to the sunny afternoon skies, their confusion at the odd sound only growing at the absence of a single cloud in the field of unbroken blue above their heads. Others merely tried to shrug off the momentary distraction, seeming only slightly irritated at the momentary break in their routines. Most of the city made up the latter group, with the majority of furs and humans bustling back into action, trying to make up for the time they'd spent analyzing the short disturbance.

Thoom. Thoom. Thoom.

The deep thudding sounded again, repeating itself as it fell into a slow, constant rhythm. Those who had attempted to ignore the noise were forced to sense a slight wavering of the earth beneath their feet and paws. Traffic screeched to a halt as the entire city seemed to shiver, and startled cries of surprise and fear began to join the heavy booming in the air. People who had been seated outdoors began to flee, scattering from benches and tables in all directions.

The sharp, piecing sound of shattering glass accompanied the departure of an outdoor café, meals left half-devoured on the tables as the patrons moved within the walls of the city's buildings or down towards the subway entrances. A single human lingered at his table slightly longer than the rest, staying seated as he stared in the direction of the heavy thumping. His eyes widened as a low rumbling reached his ears, and he rose to his feet, following the fearful crowds of humans and furs as they fled from the unseen terror.

_Thoom. Thoom. Thoom. _

The quaking swelled in intensity, each beat of the frightening rhythm reverberating through the earth and air like a thunderclap. A deep, constant rumble joined the steady impacts, the earth trembling beneath the sound of the object of dread that bore down upon the metropolis. Its citizens scrambled about madly for some sort of shelter from the shaking that threatened to send them tumbling to their feet with each concussive wave that rolled through the ground. Skyscrapers above the panicked crowds began to sway from the tremors, their forms bending noticeably to the horror of those trapped below.

The man gasped as the frantic hordes of anthromorphs and humans buffeted him about, grunting and growling as he tried to slip from their midst. The human, shorter than even some of his own kind, was nearly trampled by the large, powerful varieties the furs held within their ranks, and a only a swift dodge and careful timing kept him from getting knocked to the asphalt and crushed beneath the multitudes of feet and paws stampeding away. He managed to reach an alleyway near the edge of the crowd he'd been trapped in, moving to clamber up a fire escape even as the twenty story building was rattled and shaken by the heavy quakes, beginning his slow climb to the roof. His chest heaved with the exertion as he hauled himself up floor after floor, his breath coming in short gasps as he struggled to reach his goal before the source of the terrible quakes reached the building.

Thoom. Thoom. THOOM!

The cracking of asphalt could be heard in the streets, the low rumble rising and falling with a rhythm of its own. The air began to whirl about between the buildings, a warm breeze rushing back and forth over the crowds, causing them to collectively scream in terror as they filled every shelter they could find, cramming themselves away and leaving the rest out in the open as the source of the terrible quakes finally came within view.

A heavy shadow fell over the deserted intersection. A towering wall of flesh moved out from the corner of a skyscraper, stepping into the populace's view. A footpaw nearly as long as a bus moved down to meet the pavement, slamming the asphalt and concrete beneath it to dust as countless tons pressed downwards, great black claws stabbing into the ground. Eyes turned upwards, only to bulge in awe of the gigantic, thickened body that greeted their gaze. The titan's great, powerful muscles flexed beneath his flesh, his massive thighs rippling from the heavy impact of his paw against the pavement. A round belly protruded from his abdomen, the mass of flesh jiggling with each motion. The giant's form was sheathed in scales of emerald, causing the giant's body to glow a radiant shade of green in the light.

The immense being's snout and massive, sharpened black horns adorning his skull allowed for no confusion; the enormous wings upon the dragon's back shifted to further clue the puny populace in on what they gazed upon. His great, lengthy tail swayed behind his powerful legs, the huge appendage sweeping away debris in his wake to the sides of the smashed streets. There was also no denying the titan's masculinity; his enormous genitals hung proudly over the streets below, a massive, limp shaft laying atop a titanic sack containing testicles the size of wrecking balls.

The titan loosed a deep, thunderous growl as he turned his head, great yellow eyes surveying the streets as his vocalization shook the buildings surrounding him. His slit pupils zeroed in on the crowd near the end of the street, and the dragon lurched forth, taking another step towards the mass of humans and furs. A collective scream arose as the little people were slammed to the ground beneath their paws, the giant's step knocking them to their asses as he approached, his gaze fixed upon them. Behind the muscled, towering titan his enormous tail slithered, effortlessly sweeping aside parked cars, much to the terror of those who had taken refuge in their vehicles as they were slid up against the skyscrapers.

The human male gasped for breath as he clambered up the steps, reaching the fire escape on the nineteenth floor. He yelped and stumbled as the building quaked violently from the giant's footfall, the fire escape he stood upon nearly rattling itself from the wall as he clung to its flimsy metal railing. He shivered and moved to the final ladder, grunting as he hauled himself upwards, sweat pouring from his brow as he moved up the rungs. He was as close as he'd ever get, and he knew he'd have a hard time getting this close to the dragon again, if he even stuck around that long.

The man nearly collapsed as he reached the roof, gazing up in awe as he stumbled to the building's edge. He was merely chest-level with the emerald titan, and the building he'd scaled stood directly to the dragon's left. He watched as the enormous male leaned over the frightened, cowering people at his paws, able to see his eyes dart from left to right in their sockets, scanning the tiny people as they whimpered in his shadow. His nostrils flared as he took a few great sniffs, his warm, humid breath washing over the trapped citizens, eliciting another wave of screams.

The green-scaled, muscular titan rose back to his full standing height, letting a deep, thunderous snarl loose into the air, his huge eyeridges turning downwards as his lips joined them in a frown. Great, gleaming white fangs shone in the sunlight as he opened his jaw, each tooth larger than the tiny beings below. A lengthy, sinuous tongue rose up between those teeth, the enormous pink length tipped by a fleshy, flickering fork. The human flinched and covered his ears as the vocalization blasted his ears, shaking his head to clear his hearing before taking a deep breath, cupping his hands, and shouting up to the gigantic, displeased being,

"HEY! DOWN HERE!"

The emerald giant froze as the puny voice called up to him, his eyes widening briefly in surprise. His great head turned down to his rooftop, those enormous yellow eyes centering on his tiny form, the enormous slits taking in the sight of him for a moment. The drake's enormous nostrils flared, a great, breezy inhale sending wind whipping around the little man before him, and the emerald giant held the scent in for a few seconds before releasing his breath in a humid, hot exhalation, his eyes half-closing as he savored the smell.

Suddenly, the dragon's face blossomed into a massive grin, with his lips curling back to reveal his titanic, razor-sharp fangs. His knees could be heard creaking as they bent, and the muscled, building-sized titan crouched before the little human, bringing his snout right down before the puny man. His voice emerged from his throat, booming deeply despite the giant's obvious attempts to speak softly,

"There you are! I have been looking everywhere for you!" The titanic male snorted a bit, playfully blasting the human with his breath as he growled softly, the tone matching his ever-present grin, " You were not where you said we would meet!"

The man burst into laughter as the green-scaled behemoth pushed him back with his exhalation, growling right back up at the dragon as he reached up with a hand to rub at the giant's snout, "And you're a couple hours early, by the looks of things!" He pointed to the sun, which still hung a ways above the horizon, "That doesn't look like sunset to me!"

The muscled, thick mountain of a dragon chuckled softly as the human answered him, his grin shifting to a bit of a smirk as he dismissed the man's reply, "So I dropped by a little early! Besides, I happen to know I'm easily the biggest thing you have going on today!" He laughed deeply, lifting his hand slowly to the roof, one of his great, thick fingers reaching out to rub at the human's back, "I assume you're ready, then?"

The human chuckled softly and nodded up at the dragon, groaning softly with pleasure at the dragon's gentle rubbing, his back arching against the male's soft fingerpad, his own fingers slipping beneath the titan's scales to scritch the flesh beneath, "Yes, I think I've tied up all my loose ends. Everybody who needs to know what's happening's been told all ready, so at least nobody'll be worrying about me."

The emerald dragon loosed a deep rumble of pleasure as he sensed the human's puny fingers on his flesh. He snorted again as he heard the man speak, "As if they should have cause to worry while you are with me! Surely you are safer with me than in this madness you call a home!" He waved a hand at the city streets below, grimacing in distaste at the urban surroundings.

The man chuckled softly at the titan's assertion, nodding as he leaned against the dragon's warm snout, "I think they'll be a bit worried about you at first, but hopefully everyone will get a good eyeful of how careful you are around people like me." He pulled back, smirking up at the enormous dragon, "You were careful entering the city, right? I better not find somebody stuck to those paws!" He scolded the giant, struggling not to giggle as he teased him.

The gargantuan drake smirked and rolled his eyes as he gently nudged the human with his snout, "I promised you I would bring no harm to your people, little one...and apart from your paths, your home is undamaged by my arrival." He laughed softly, "Though your kind might think about widening the space between your dwellings! I could feel them brushing against my hips!"

The human male giggled at the drake's reply, rubbing gratefully at his snout with his other hand, "If all you did was brush against a couple buildings, then I'd call that a pretty good entrance!" He sighed happily, staring up into the towering male's eyes, losing himself in their golden hue, "Thank you, for letting me do this...I know you weren't too keen on this whole thing, at fir-"

The dragon silenced the man with a gentle nuzzle, shaking his head, "Hush, little one. That was before I allowed myself to know you better...and before I realized I enjoyed what I saw." He purred deeply, his vocal chords sending quakes that rippled through the building before him.

The man chuckled softly, nodding and leaning forward and downwards, planting a small kiss upon the male's full upper lip, causing it to twitch slightly at his touch, "I'm glad you did, big guy...I know I like what I'm seeing now."

The emerald scaled mountain of a dragon crooned affectionately, brushing his lips up against the man's chest, briefly suckling upon his clothed chest in the gentlest of kisses. The male's titanic purr deepened with pleasure as he felt the human's little arms upon his lips, relishing the man's every tiny gesture, savoring every ounce of affection. His wet, forked tonguetip flickered tenderly against the man's belly, eliciting another round of little giggles. He held the gesture for a few moments before pulling back, a deep chuckle ringing through the air as his playful, toothy grin returned to his snout, "Now, I believe someone offered to point me towards a good meal before we leave?" He lifted his hand up to the edge of the building's roof, palm-up.

The human chuckled and nodded as he stepped out onto the gigantic male's palm, seating himself in the center as he rubbed at the scales beneath him, "Indeed I did! And that's not counting what I promised you later, big fella, if you're still up for it!" He winked up at the green-scaled, muscular giant, grinning as he felt the male's deep, pleasurable rumble course through his flesh. He didn't need to glance downwards to sense the beginnings of the dragon's arousal, the heavy musk already beginning to build in the air as his loins stirred with anticipation at the recollection of what they had already shared.

The emerald titan looked down on the man fondly as his purr thundered through the air, "Only if I may return the favor, little one." He smiled warmly as he lifted the human slowly upwards, turning away to lumber down the street towards the warehouse district, the sounds of crumbling asphalt, heavy impacts, and the occasional screech of metal or cry of shattering glass echoing in his wake. The pair left the crowd of baffled humans and furs behind them, leaving them to wonder as the dragon stomped away, his footfalls gradually receding into the distance.

Thoom. Thoom. Thoom...
