The Second Law - Part XVII
The Starbreeze gets a little lonely as the gang takes the Liberté for a spin. They accept an invite to Vauxhaul in bad faith, only to find equal distrust awaits them.
This chapter establishes another alien world and gives a fair backdrop into the last millenia of Yangurrar activity for those with keen ears... Eyeballs... Ear-balls? Anyway, the point is to set up the greater enemy, both locally and broadly. Personally I like the way the local bad guy evolves here, as I much prefer the indirect, Bond-villain approach. You know, the type that takes you out to a show and a fine restaurant before trying to totally fuck you. :3
This wasn't the longest chapter nor did I encounter writer's block or the such. No, I have had the hassles of the holiday season compounding with work projects in a way that drained the life from me. Sickness did not help in any way. Then there's a personal event that disrupted my confidence in my being and probably scarred me for life. It's been rough; thankfully I have a good friend or two that like to make me smile. After one such affirmation of my reasons not to hate life, I finally felt up to the task of proofing this chapter and publishing it. Thank you to anyone that makes my writing worthwhile.

"This is ~not~ what I had in mind when I offered a favor." Ilaria cooed as she backed up and pulled her manhood out of a curvy skunk. She barely had time to remove a special estrus-calming condom from her length before her brother tossed her another that hit her in the snout. "Seriously? I could use a break."
"There's a line, Lulu. Don't keep those helpless ladies waiting." Iolvin used the break to teasingly grind his knot against a bunny of his own. "We should volunteer for the Canadian navy more often."
"Would this be a joint operation?" Adrian prepared his own member for another round after a short break, the smaller and in some ways cuter otter apparently being the favorite guest of the Liberté. "Just focus on helping them and I'm perfectly fine with any care your package can give, honey. Same goes for you too, Zoë."
"After seeing a whole ship like this, I'm glad humans don't go into heat." Zoë briefly suckled a corgi's breast and repositioned her hand to better cup her groin. "I'd say a Gentleman's Boner rule would help, but there's no men..."
"They don't mix crews in maple-land, I guess."
"They also don't go months without seeing cock." Ari rolled another condom over herself and signaled for another woman to join the sex dungeon that used to be a Medical Bay. "We'll help until we can't, then we might get my girls to port over some reinforcements."
Carbon pulled the freshly-pleasured women over to a bed and cuddled as they regained their right minds. "Oh, that's not part of the deal. I told Jean ~you~ would handle it the whole time while ~I~ enjoy alien tea and crumpets."
Ari nervously smiled as a brown bear started removing her uniform. "Yeah, but you also said Jean was a man."
"No, you did. I just went with it for the chuckles." Carbon gasped as she was hugged a bit too energetically by the skunk. "Besides, I didn't consider these fine ladies might have more-orLess synced up their estrus cycles."
"Well my husband thanks you for that miscalculation." Dee huffed two large puffs of air and slapped his cheeks to stave off his exhaustion. "Alright, I might be able to help another. Would someone like to join me?"
"Oui!" A very curvy, petite squirrel passed behind the privacy curtains and couldn't help ogling the androgynous otter. "I like help, pl-please."
Ari caught sight of the gorgeous, young rodent and slowly separated herself from the bear. "Dee, I call dibs on this one. She's... exactly my type."
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of denying you ~that~ request. Let's swap."
Ari's smile beamed with glee as she started to strut over, but Rhyme reached out and stopped her. "Ari... could you not? For me, please?"
In the worst way possible the nude squirrel teased the whole room, presenting her drooling snatch high in the air whilst crawling on her bed. "Non? Ah... Love me, please?..."
Ari's cock went full divining rod toward the bed, but she instead walked back to the bear girl and eased half her length into surprisingly strong tightness. "Ouh... All you have to do is ask, hon. I'll never do anything to hurt you, even if it means passing on giving a squirrel her nut."
"And here I believed ~we~ had the more colorful language. However I do wonder if that applies more to the males than—" Captain Renault entered the room with two particularly blissful ouschee trailing behind by the playful grip of the tigress' tail. "Aha. Perhaps I should have had my eye on you instead, Commander?"
"Huh?" It barely took a second for the otter to realize the tiger's eyes were locked to her cock as it spelunked damp bear cave. "Oh! Jean, I just assumed you knew—!"
"It's quite alright, Ilaria; I thought I saw something at the wedding. After hearing the rumors about your little girls though, I was looking forward to fitting them into my schedule." Jean found a seat with a slight hiss and watched with a smile. "Though perhaps I shouldn't have... ~overbooked a full room~ so to say. I won't be able to sit straight for a month."
Ari slowed her pace and sat with her knot flush against the bear's lower lips. "They weren't too rough, were they? I keep telling them to be gentle."
"On the contrary—they were exceptionally attentive lovers. You raised them well in these matters. No, I... Perhaps we should remember that sometimes just because we have ~three times~ what we need doesn't mean we should use it all. Definitely not twice over, either." Jean shifted her thighs a bit and a large dollop of cum gushed out from below her skirt. "Ah, damn... I thought that was done..."
"So you tried to fit all six at once? Remind me to keep your brave tail next to mine when the shit hits the fan. Hell, that deserves a medal." Ari faced her children in particular here for an indirect question. "Were there any complications?"
<We ran into issues when we tried going deep, so we just...>
Mikhaila finished her sister's line of thought for her. <We went with two. Jean's very, very good with her paws, for the record.>
"No, aside from the mess. They pack more punch than one would assume." Jean reached between her legs and scraped up the mess, licking her paw clean after each pass. "But don't worry about us. Please, finish giving Reneé there what she needs. I'll check with my Bridge crew."
"That's my cue. Sorry, ladies." Carbon slipped out of bed and fixed the position of her mask. "I can feel the atmosphere buffeting the hull. Let's check the landing."
"Indeed." Jean started moving toward the Bridge, only flinching when Carbon shoved a flowered vine into the tiger's leaking muff. "Ah, Carbon... I've missed those orchids of yours."
"Well I'm mated now, so don't get the wrong idea. I just know you don't like a dirty ship." Carbon hurried her shorter stride and walked aside the taller captain with a smile. "Just maybe leave this part out next time we invite you over to dinner?"
"Or perhaps I should use this as leverage for negotiations?"
"Negotiations? For what?"
"A night with two rather than one." Jean stopped at the Bridge hatch and tapped an access code into the lock. "If you would, madame..."
"No, ladies first." Carbon opened the door herself and presented an arm forward, followed closely by another tendril slithering into Jean's loosened nethers. "I insist."
Jean hobbled over the lower bulkhead and offered a paw to steady the hybrid. "But you are a woman yourself, no? Or perhaps right now... you have the tools to end this teasing?"
"Nope. Just teasing a bit for now, and..." Carbon waited until they reached the captain's chair, then bloomed her flowers fully and twisted them free. "There. Now you're all clean."
"Ah, you are right..." Jean sat and discretely inspected herself, finding herself clean inside and Carbon's tendril tips oozing a bit. "Where did it go? Those?"
"Yeah. They can suck and spit more than just their own supply." Carbon grinned as she lifted her mask to lick her tendrils clean, further chuckling when she shot out a rope of cream directly between her eyes. "They're a lot more fun with the volume that my new family produces."
"That I can see. Again, how does this prevent me from stealing you away from your wife?" Jean smirked as she flipped her keyboard over her lap and typed her access code. "<I see the heat is rising. Lefevre, did you analyze the atmospheric composition before plotting a course?>"
"<Yes, captain. The air is very dense, hence the shallower inclination for this drop.>"
Carbon leaned over the side of the captain's chair and commented, "<It looks like this planet has been terraformed to be breathable to them. That means it's mostly aldehydes and methane, so don't rely on external oxygen for any thrusters.>"
"<Very good. Continue with caution, Miss Lefevre.>" Jean pulled Carbon into her lap and licked her face clean. "<I never knew you spoke French. Any reason you picked it up?>"
"<My daughter, Fleur... I believe you've seen her playing the butler before?>" Carbon shut her mask once the tiger's barbed tongue became too much for her. "<She came from the very last French colony station. I adopted her from a friend after after it was struck by those terrorists... Damnit... Poor Gary...>"
"<Oh... Pardon me. I had no idea about... any of that. I didn't even know she was your daughter—or your friends, or—>" Captain Renault took a deep breath and tactfully refocused the topic. "<I admire you for learning a new language just for her. That's the dedication I know you pride.>"
"<Actually, Eve picked it up in about a week...>" Carbon froze stiff as she slowly rubbed the ring on her paw. "<My Evelyn... I can barely feel that she's there.>"
Jean held her old friend by the shoulders and pulled her into a hug. "<Then let's go help her without delay, handsome.>"

"I may not have a nose, but the pheromones these mammals make..."
Rose wanted to correct her double's take on the situation, but her convenient mask tainted that sentiment with hypocrisy. "I guess it's good we're sealed off from it, but there's nothing wrong with that."
Carbon tapped the airlock gate's cycling button and stiffened up in her suit. "Quiet, sis. We have a charade to play."
"And you'll never pull it off unless you act naturally, Fibre." Rose waited for the red light that shortsightedly read 'vacuum' then the plant removed her helmet and placed it on a shelf. "It's a bit dry, but it's nice to take this thing off for once."
"Exactly my thought, Chryssy." Number Two grinned as she placed her own helmet next to the other, the first readily showing a lack of accrued battle damage. "So much better..."
"Yeah, except you're Chrysanthemum and I'm Rose. My universe, my rules—or do I need to find the twins?"
"I-I... Y-Yeah, you can be Rose."
Carbon flipped her radio switch and grunted through the collars of the false twins before her. "Rose, don't joke about that. The girls didn't know what they were doing, but it put Two here through hell."
"...Sorry. And are we using 'Two' now?"
"Yoyo was calling her Dos Equis for a while, then The Greatest Plant in The World after that. I figure setting a more ~sane~ standard would be more appealing."
Two stared blankly at Carbon for a moment, unable to comprehend the first kind act directed her way in a long time. "Y-Yeah... I'd rather that."
"It's settled then, at least for whenever the two of you are together anyway." Carbon tapped the external door release and held the physical button down for the long, slow process. "Except for now. You're Chryssy."
"And you're calming down. Just keep it that way, sis."
"Pointing it out only makes me worse, but I'll try." Once the hatch locked itself open the three hopped out onto foreign soil, or more accurately heat-roughened granite tile flooring. "I will say, these guys know how to build a proper building. Even their landing pads are masoned stone."
Two nudged forward for a moment and mumbled, "Mind the English, Carbon."
"Ah, right..." Carbon strode forward toward their greeters first in an attempt to keep suspicion at bay through pure cooperation. "<Greetings!>"
"<Ah, our guests. I would say 'of honor' but I prefer my absolutes. Apologies.>" Dallas walked forward wearing a formal robe that greatly contrasted his guards' battle suits. "<I am Dallas, heir of Veri.>"
Rose stepped forward and presented a tendril for an acknowledging 'vineshake' that confirmed her identity. "<Rose, of a house unknown.>"
Dallas formed a brief Link with a courteous bow. "<Ah, far more luscious than your markers would allow.>"
"<Such a flatterer!>" Two bowed herself and offered a vine. "<Pardon my sister. She can be a little basic in these matters. I am Chrysanthemum, of a house unknown. Thank you for having us.>"
"<So you aren't entirely alike. I find this twin development quite interesting.>" Dallas quickly Linked, then offered a vine and a bow to Carbon. "<And you're Fibre, I presume? If I may be so bold, why the protective clothing?>"
"<I have some sort of... rot developing from our travels. I would hate if it were actually a fungus or something and I infected any of you.>" Carbon met the vineshake and passed muster. "<Well met, Dallas.>"
"<But it isn't so, for if you look even half as beautiful as your sisters I wouldn't know the joy of its viewing.>" Dallas grinned as he offered entry to a nearby hatch. "<Now please, come with me out of this unbearable cold! Let's talk by a warm geode and a fresh meal.>"
Rose followed closely, trying her best to draw attention away from the tail poorly hidden down Carbon's leg. "<Absolutely. What of our ship, though?>"
"<Your ship and crew will be... well guarded.>" The host smiled the moment warm air bombarded his face from within the structure. "<Speaking of which, that vessel is a work of art! I've never seen anything with so many moving parts. And the power system! You somehow use flames for thrust?>"
"<Partially. The fuel thrusters are mostly to assist the main thrusters, which shoot out water more-orLess. It's either solid or liquid before turning to steam.>" Carbon caught up behind the others, pausing momentarily to take in the sight of an underground garden next to a somewhat Persian palace. "<We... We call it 'rocket science', and apparently it's a hard concept to understand.>"
"<I'd imagine, though being its inventors I'd assume it's sapling's play for you three.>" Dallas found a seat in the courtyard and placed a missing crystal into a very literal geode to make it start glowing with warmth. "<I am curious why I've never heard of you or your planet however. With such amazing technology, you should be a common topic amongst the Gardens. Or perhaps... are you an independent colony?>"
Rose gracefully halted her sister as the thinly-veiled questioning began. "<Yes. We have only recently been forced into this war that's ravaging the galaxy.>"
"<We like to take a neutral approach where possible, though.>" Two sat on a bench and offered the adjacent slot to Rose. "<As a mining colony I assume you would prefer to remain neutral as well for the sake of profits. Am I right?>"
"<Very astute. We are however in the middle of Garden space, so the luxury of free trade is not ours.>" Dallas parted his robes slightly, not enough to overtly appear crude but enough to temptingly reveal a hint of his manhood. "<While at my manor we do have quite a few other luxuries and indulgences, though. Warmth is readily available, as are comfortable places to enjoy it...>"
Carbon caught this new train of thought first. "<Dallas, careful with your basking. You... may reveal more than you wish.>"
The Yangurra smirked with his far mandible at the comment. "<Why thank you, Fibre. I don't know what came over me. If you two really were ouschee I could have ~actually~ gotten myself in tight place there.>"
Carbon donned her helmeted head. "<We all readily relax when we're at home. It's alright.>"
"<No, it was rude of me. The thought does make me wonder ever more furiously how gorgeous you must look, though.>" Dallas slipped out his seat and loomed over Carbon, his hard pistil ready to pollinate as it poked out the gap in his robes. "<I really must see what you look like beneath this breather. Come now... I'm sure I won't contract anything if it's just a peek. Or perhaps you'd rather infect me in a good way?>"
"<Dallas! Consider your place, sir!>" Rose tried to stand and defend her sister, but a guard held her in her seat by her shoulders. "<What is the meaning of this!?>"
"<I an so very sorry, my guests, but I must insist. Let me see your face, else I take what I want from your sisters before I lock you in a prison cell.>" Dallas shifted so his manhood hid itself again, the gentleplant in him still offering to play nice. "<I only need to confirm you aren't a known enemy, Fibre. With your genetic markers being so hard to read, any of it could be forged. Please don't make me use force here.>"
"<I... I'll agree, though we hoped we could talk some more before we got to this point.>" Carbon thought only of her sister as she looked their way, grimacing upon seeing the guards were hard as well. "<I need your word you'll hear us out. I'm different than the rest of you, and so is most of our crew.>"
"<You're not in a position to make requests... but agreed, tentatively.>"
Carbon took a few breaths to calm down, then slowly reached for her helmet's rear latch. She pulled her helmet forward and clear of her head, though she felt the need to duck into the collar of her suit as much as possible. "<Th-There...>"
Surprisingly, while he looked interested Dallas did not appear surprised. "<You're covered in such long, lush trichomes.>" The Yangurra quickly lost his aggressive edge and plopped back into his seat to relax. "<Then you're a new race of beings? Or... seeing as the three of you are related, might you be a mutant?>"
"<A bit of both, in a few ways... You don't know about us?>" Carbon sat up straight once the threat died down and even took her host's lead in relaxing. "<How can you take this so lightly?>"
"<Well you're not the first alien species I've seen. Speaking of the sort...>" Dallas waved to the edge of the garden and shifted to an unknown language. "Ana, sayaduk yatatalab minka."
The three guests finally understood where the local Persian influence originated when an almost stereotypical Egyptian goddess emerged—naturally human and far from home. "Tariyfat hiya almuzayadah ya wa'idat."
Rose stared at the scantily-clad girl in disbelief. "<She's... She's human...>"
"<Ah, you know of them? This makes things easier to explain.>" Dallas uncovered his lap and offered his obelisk to the girl. "Mumaristat 'atifiyat ma'iy."
The girl reached to her waist and pulled her lower dress to the side, then straddled the alien cock she was presented. "Kamaf tatamanay wa'idat." She hesitated a brief moment to align herself, then fell flush with Dallas' lap and started shuffling her hips.
"<Such a good girl, she is. Oh, where are my manners? Surely I stirred up your sexual bits a moment ago. Shall I fetch some of my eunuchs—or perhaps you'd like the more savage breeders instead?>"
"<I... I don't...>" Carbon squeezed her thighs together at the sight, trying her best to hold her desire at bay. "<What language is that? It sounds familiar.>"
"<I simply couldn't for the life of me pronounce anything in their native language. Thankfully some of them knew another they call Arabic that's more manageable. Now they all learn it.>" Dallas cooed as the girl got into a steady, harder pace. "H'dta alkamal, Ana."
"<'Perfection'...? It's a bit odd, but I suppose that is Arabic.>" Rose hid her lust by crossing her legs and improving her very basic knowledge of Arabic. "Ah... <Is your name Ana? That word is confusing me.>"
"<Slaves only talk with their masters, Rose. Her name is indeed Ana though.>"
"<Siamun would get a kick out of this,>" mentioned Two.
Dallas grunted and signaled for Ana to increase the vigor of her motions. "<It sounds like you have a few of your own. I take it your world—Earth—is close to Terra, then?>"
Carbon crossed her legs as well, sighing as a squelch sounded from within her damn suit. "<I promised the truth for an open mind... So in that light, you'll have to take this as a bit of a stretch. We're from what you call Terra.>" She rolled her eyes back and gave into her desires, creating a hole in her suit for her paw to slip through. "<The humans are... nearing extinction in their pure form. War has forced them... us... to merge our genetics with the local fauna to survive.>"
"<Finally, something I can sell. I'll do business with information.>" Dallas gasped as he nearly blew his load, then took control of the situation by flipping Ana into his seat so she could be pummeled hard. "<Many... Yangurraa would... love an update... from Terra...>"
"<Ah... Pl-Please, finish your, uh...>"
"<Why thank you!" Dallas fell forward and grabbed Ana by the waist, his face buried in her chest as he moaned out his orgasmic bliss. "<Ah... That one was truly needed...>" He swapped to Arabic as he also swapped positions again, the brief moment the two were apart producing a constant stream of cum. "<Ana, keep going until I am done. Drain me and you will be rewarded.>"
"<Yes, my god. Is my mouth acceptable?>"
"<No. I want to see you work for it today. Use your genitals—no, use your ~rear~ for the rest. You could use the practice.>" Dallas melted into his seat as his single, solid stream of cum served as the lubricant for Ana's enveloping ass. "<I love these humans. They have so many holes to fill, even the males.>"
"<Dallas, can we... get back to business, I guess?>"
"<Yes, Fibre. Of course.>" The Yangurra tried to sit upright, but his never-ending climax drove him to slouching within seconds. "<Information is always profitable to me. Designs that improve our mines or freighters along with whatever you care to divulge of Terra will go a long way. However I suspect your claims of a faulty ship are false as well?>"
"<Correct. Our ship is fine. Rather...>" Carbon moved closer to get a better view of Ana as she slammed her ass over her master's spire, her pussy spewing cum with each landing. "<Rather, we came here to refuel, restock, and more than anything to inspect your ætir. Is that an acceptable trade?>"
"<As you haven't taken control of my mind during my little test, I can at least trust you aren't actually ouschee. However I cannot permit an undocumented species to access my ætir. Share enough information and give us time to verify it and we can have this talk another time.>" Dallas gasped again as he finally drained himself, Ana's stomach slightly bulging at the heavy load in her bowels. "<Are you sure you don't require sexual aid? We should reconvene after you see my slaves... Oh, and I've had a decent litter recently. Perhaps you would like some of the younglings as my part of our deal?>"
"<No. We don't need slaves, and I'm happily married.>" Carbon stood and offered a paw each to Rose and Two. "<Come, sisters. Let's... take care of ourselves... and then we can talk about our trade. Apologies on not getting to our meal, Dallas.>"
"<Circumstances require otherwise. I understand fully. We shall dine when next we meet.>" Dallas started lifting Ana's rear and she got the hint to stand on her own. "<Ana, you may pick any of the breeders for another attempt at a child—except not your brother this time, for everyone's sakes. You may also help the travelers, if you desire.>"
"<I thank my god.>" Ana walked over to the departing guests and followed them, deftly sneaking her hand into Carbon's suit and then further into the hybrid. "<I am skilled with both sexes, mistress. Please let me relieve your stress.>"
Carbon bulged her eyes at the touch and mumbled to her sister for help. "Uh... Rose?"
"<She'd be delighted. Please remove your hand until we reach our ship , though.>" Rose grinned, not so much at her handiwork but at the plans running through her head. "You're good, sis. She'll just tag along."
"Thanks." Carbon bowed to Dallas as he recovered in his seat. "<Thank you for your time, Dallas. We'll make a better time of our next meeting, once we both have time to think about what we've learned.>"
"<Of course. I wouldn't dream of making an uninformed deal.>" Dallas stood only long enough to politely bow for the group. "<Please do return with your husband, Fibre. I would love to have a discussion about... sharing resources between us. I'm sure I can make it worth his while, and definitely yours.>"
"<I'm... I'm sure you can. Until next time, Dallas.>"
"<I simple cannot wait, my exotic flower.>" The Yangurra eased himself into his seat, once again finding his manhood nudging itself to the ceiling. "<Kasmut! Come use that wonderful mouth of yours to clean your daughter off of me!>"
Carbon groaned as she reached the cold of the landing pad. "I guess rich assholes spring up no matter the culture. Goddess... I really don't want to fuck that guy to see his ætir. Sorry, Eve, but I think that's my only choice..."
"No it isn't." Rose smirked as she pulled Ana into a sideways hug to keep her warm and to guide her, the human's veiled mask filling with condensation from the cold. "See, I made sure we have a living map of the guy's mansion. All we have to do is earn her trust."
Carbon beamed with a toothy grin. "Now ~that's~ my sister."
— — — — —
"<So... Nobody wants me to pleasure them? Not even with my mouth?>" Ana Stood in the middle of the Recreation Room, refusing multiple lighthearted attempts to get her to sit. "<I'm confused. Why would anyone turn down my services? Am I... unappealing to you?>"
"<You look just fine, Ana.>" Rose reached out and took the girl by her hand, her mates following suit from beside her. "<Why would you ever think such a horrible thing?>"
"<My god occasionally... makes me cover myself...>" The human drooped her head and felt the fluffy paws of the three. "<That doesn't come close to me not having so much hair. I must look like a monster to you.>"
"<Who's a monster, now?>" Viola strode into the room to join the dozen or so onlookers, but Siamun took control without realizing it and snatched one of Ana's hands. "<Who is this? It's been millennia since I've laid eyes upon such beauty.>"
"<You... I...>" Ana took a moment to catch her breath, her heart beating on overdrive at perhaps the first true compliment she'd ever received. "<I thank you, mistress.>"
"<See? You're pretty, and you're not the only human around here to be called that. Yoyo—my husbands' father—is married to one called Zoë.>" Rose Linked with her mates and they nodded at a conclusion. "<But if you need us to prove that to you we'll still take you to bed.>"
"<Oh no you don't. I'd like a night with her, if she'll have me.>" Siamun moved closer, pressing his breasts against Ana's back. "<It appears my priestess isn't entirely against the idea either. With her blessing and her body, I would love to ~adore~ you for an evening.>"
"<I... I do not deserve such flattery, mistress. I am only here to serve.>"
Rose stood and gave Ana a comforting hug. "<And that's why we want to get that out of the way. Except maybe Siamun here, nobody wants you to serve your duty as a slave. It isn't right?>"
"<Oh, not at all. Don't mistake my aggression as an attempt to use this fine woman. My intentions are noble.>" Siamun ground his chest into the girl again, making his point clear. "<However I cannot deny that I do hope, like any normal male, to eventually bed her as well. I would much rather know her and have her consent, lest I decline.>"
"<...Male...?>"
"<Two people in one body. Long story.>" Rose pulled Ana away from the infatuated African wild dog and forced her to sit in her lap. "<The rest of us want to set you free by taking you with us. Your master doesn't realize he's vastly underestimating us.>"
"<I can't! If I try to escape, the stone god will kill my brother! He'll force my mother to perform his daily labor!>"
Rose simply pulled Ana's head into her arms and hugged her tightly. "<We won't let that happen. If you'd rather stay, you can... but we need to sneak into Dallas' manor to save another friend of ours. If you help us, we can save your family too.>"
"<You will...?>" Ana looked up to the others through teary eyes as she squeezed Rose with all her strength. "<Thank you! I'll do whatever I must, just... Thank you.>"
"<Don't thank us just yet. We haven't actually helped anyone.>" Rose felt all eyes settling on her and started repeating everything in English as well as Arabic. "Ana is on board but we need some details still. We don't know where her family is located in there and she wants to extract them."
"<I could probably guide you with landmarks, but I'll go with you if need be.>"
"Yeah, some references would go a long way in keeping her safe. I'd rather not bring a civilian along." Ilaria twitched her forearm uncontrollably, her 'work' for the day probably stressing it too much in addition to staining it white. "Oh... Yeah. Speaking of references, where are we with a map of the place?"
Adrian fidgeted with the physical button controls on one of the Liberté's various access panels. "Looks like our radar ping might have produced something. The details aren't too great on this screen though."
Two looked to Carbon, then to her clone, then rolled her eyes and touched a tendril each to the access panel and a larger flat-screen. "Here you go. The transformer hum gives me a headache though, so..."
"We'll be quick. Thanks, Rose—"
Carbon perked up at the paradoxically correct yet incorrect name. "Actually, we're calling her Two when they're together now. Makes things easier."
Ari shook her head with a faint giggle. "Please don't turn into another Yoyo. We all have enough nicknames as it is."
"At least mine's functional."
"There is that. Anyway, back to business." Ari unsnapped her arm to 'reboot' it as she examined the image. "It looks incomplete. Is this only a corner? Two, can you rotate it?"
"I've already hooked up the navigation stick on this thing. Move it all you like."
"Nifty." Ari reconnected her arm, then after a quick test flex she started to rotate the scan herself. "Yeah, it might have only hit a corner... Wait, this is the size of the place. What gives?"
"That might just be from the second era. How nostalgic." Siamun nodded to himself as he moved closer to the screen. "Yes, my priestess agrees. This looks like a late second or early third era pyramid."
"Pyramid? What?" Ari fiddled with the controls until the whole of Dallas' manor sat in frame. "Holy shit. That's a damned pyramid you guys entered. We couldn't tell because only one side is exposed from the mountain it's built into."
"Contrary to what my priestess argues, the pyramids of my time were the houses of the 'gods'. When they came from the heavens they required sealed areas to breathe and keep fertile soil."
"Carbon? Rose?"
Carbon stood and inspected the image up close herself. "It makes sense. Yangurraar ships are pretty rudimentary and not designed for habitation like ours. They'd want somewhere else to live if they planned on staying somewhere a while."
"So this is the real deal, huh? The Yangurraa brought knowledge to Egypt. We wouldn't be in a ship like this if they hadn't jump-started human technology." Ari sat down and let Carbon take the controls. "Yet they float around in basically petrified trees. That's awkward."
"Is it? Their tech is based on an element that slowly charges in ambient conditions. They live long lives and need to build structures that last just as long. Humanity on the other paw had abundant resources, stores of fossil fuels, and couldn't afford to let progress take its time." Carbon enlarged the entrance they used, then searched futilely for a secondary entrance. "I'd say it's surprising we never destroyed the Earth with our unsafe experimentation, but... well, World Wars Two and Three..."
"Shit, that's right. You were around for WWIII, weren't you?"
"I... I touched the first bomb before..." Carbon worked through her eyes gushing out tears. "...Fucking Sect terrorists..."
"Carbon... I'm sorry... I—"
"They took my father from me. They took your grandfather from both of us. I won't let them take the whole galaxy." Determination nullified the hybrid's tears and she only fought for a solution that much harder when her mask fogged up. "There has to be a way inside. Eve isn't responding to basic queries now. We don't have time."
Ari reached out and pat Carbon's back. "Carbon, calm down. We have my girls. We just need a place to port."
"Damnit... I'm not used to dealing with this sort of stuff alone..."
"Carbon, take a step back. We've got this." Ari took the hybrid's place by the screen and pointed her toward the door. "Go find Cid and talk with her. You're not alone, hon. You have family again."
"Yeah... Thanks." Carbon slipped into the cramped hallway with a few final words. "Find me a place I can sneak around. I'm not sure I'm up for a conflict."
"You got it. I guess that means somewhere close but not occupied..." Ari perused the scan for details like chairs or tables, but the quality drastically declined beyond a few rooms deep. "I'm not sure what I'm looking for here. We have to pick a clear spot on the map though or else the portal could end up in a wall or something."
"<Ana, what areas are you not allowed to enter? That could speed this up a bit.>"
The girl contemplated her options, then pointed to some on the scan. "<There is a drink cellar I've only seen once by accident here. Then... Oh, there's a sacred garden a few rooms this way. Can we show those rooms?>"
"<No, I'm afraid we can't. You might have found our target though. That garden sounds like a place to store an ætir, alright.>" Rose checked around the area but couldn't make out any suitable rooms for entry. "<Ana, show us where your family might be. That might help with our pathing.>"
"<Of course. The slaves' quarters are here, on the perimeter. While at work my mother usually tends the baths over here. My brother works in the maintenance areas below that... here.>" Ana worryingly looked out a porthole and shook when Rose touched her to get her on track. "<Ah! S-Sorry... We are allowed to sleep...>" The girl held out her hands and counted four fingers for a moment. "<Yes, we may sleep this many times a day. Our god doesn't sleep as much though.>"
Rose passed the translation around and queried, "Dee, what's the day cycle here?"
"About... ninety space hours. Bit over four Earth days."
"Aha. We might have a chance here." Rose turned back to Ana and paused to think of the exact translations. "<Your master last slept how many days ago?>"
"<I... I see where you are going, but you can't kill a god—not even in his sleep.>"
"<We don't want to kill anyone. We just want to know when he'll be unable to stop us. Our kind enter a much deeper sleep than yours do.>"
"<I should not hear such holy secrets...>" Ana hesitated to elaborate, her love for her family showing in her conflicted expression. "<The stone god should sleep the next time we do. But you must sleep as well, correct?>"
"<We are on a different cycle than those on Vauxhaul. We're from Earth.>" Rose explained her query and elaborated further. "We have an opening, guys. That bastard is going into hibernation soon, and most of the planet will follow suit. Only a few guards will use another schedule."
"Great. So what's the away party looking like?" Ari pointed to the slave quarters with one paw and tapped the goal ponderously with her metallic other. "We could time things so we pick up the family here, then we can boost he goods and sneak out with a portal in a safer room. If the shit hits the fan Yoyo and I—"
"No. You're not going—at least not that far." The two Roses Linked together and came to an agreement with their combined thinking power. "You're much larger than the structure is designed to accommodate. Movement will be slower with you along. You'd do better staying with the humans in a defensive position."
"But you'll need a way to fight back if you're spotted."
Siamun smirked as he held up a knife. "Close combat is my specialty. I'll protect these ladies."
"Fibre has to come as well, and she's pretty good with a gun or two." Rose looked around and noted Sydney in the hallway holding Carbon. "Cid has a suit and she's small and good on her hindpaws. That makes a quiet, effective party."
"You'll have stealth on your side, for sure. I'm just not sure you have enough umph for when an alarm sounds." Ari watched as Two turned on her cloaking in annoyance. "Okay, ~if~ you cause an alarm. But say you do, what's the plan? I'm responsible for my crew's safety, after all."
"We can't afford to run. If Eve dies Fibre will too, eventually. We run and they'll lock the ætir down so tight we'll be crapping diamonds if we search for it." Rose huffed a condensing sigh into her mask. "I don't know anyone else that's as stealthy as us. That's our main advantage."
"No... I know two more. Ari, you're not gonna like this." Dee pulled up a communications application and typed out a message. "The only two furs that ever ninja-style scared the crap out of me more than once are your girls. I'm calling them over."
"Well we should add the whole family while you're at it. Your boys can go invisible, right? Throw them in the line of fire." Ari actually caught her mouth with her paw as she heard her own words. "Ah... sorry. I just... I don't like the way Mik and Chelle... enjoy going to battle."
"I'm not thinking about battle. They're stealthy and they can get everyone out if things go south." Dee smiled as the twins opened a portal in the hallway. "I think they'd make a perfect addition, and they'd lower the risk factor a ton."
The girls rounded the doorway and latched onto their mother full of smiles. <Uncle Dee? You said you had a job for us?>
<I do. We need you guys to get everyone into Dallas' home. Then if you're up for it, you could follow Carbon and keep her safe. Sound good?>
<Sure!> Mik detached from her mother and shifted over to hug Adrian. <I'm up for anything that involves more than just portals for once.>
<I just want to see this place up close.>
Ari roped her daughters together into a four-way family hug. "Okay, you can go. Be safe and don't be seen."
<Okay, mom.>
"So that's the attack team. The rescue team should move back to the ship though." Ari let her girls stay with Dee while she pointed out a few details. "Looks like the servants live near the edges, so we can probably reach the ship without issue. Then if the mission turns sour we can defend the ship while you return."
"I like that. You'll have an advantage outside too because Yangurraa get sluggish in the cold. It'll screw with our heads some to boot." Rose went limp in her seat to the point of nearly oozing out of it. "That settles it, then. We attack at dawn."
Ari smirked slyly. "Wait, will it actually be dawn?"
Dee joined in on the fun. "Technically it'll be dusk on the planet."
Rose raised her head and squinted to her newly-acquired and giggling family. "...Bitches."
Ari snorted adorably at the playful jab. "Hey now—I'm only half bitch."
The three nearly choked while fighting back laughter, but Two stared at the others in confusion. "I don't get it."
"Hmm?" Siamun looked just as confused for a moment, but then he relinquished control back to Viola and the laughter rolled out. "You do realize you're in a dog's body now, right? A female dog?"
The laughter died down a bit until suddenly Siamun uncontrollably sent his priestess to the floor in a fit of giggles. The rest of the room promptly followed suit.
