A Perfect Day

I started getting the shower nice and warm. I still had a little time until Orion arrived so I thought I'd take a shower before we left. Sure, enough we came up to the building that said, “Mirror Maze" on it, walking in to see a bunch of mirrors, with two arrows on the floor that said, “Enter Here!" on two sides of the maze.

“There's two entrances?" I asked.

“Yup." He said. “If they didn't have two, it would probably get backed up from how many people get lost in there at once."

“Ah, makes sense." I replied.

“You know what we should do?" He asked.

“What?"

“Have a little competition to see who can get through the maze first."

“You're on!" I challenged, walking over to one of the entrances.

Orion walked over to the other.

“Ready… set… GO!" He barked.

Both of us walked in at the same time, I started feeling around the mirrors trying to find my path. I was doing better than I thought as I assessed my surroundings. But then I ran headlong into a mirror, positioned to where it didn't show my reflection, fooling me.

Eventually I made it out, I looked around and didn't see Orion, I won! He soon stumbled out of the maze about a minute later.

“What took you so long?" I teased.

“I missed the train." He replied sarcastically, pulling me towards the exit.

We walked around more, admiring all the lights and attractions, until I heard a small growling noise, only to realize it was Orion's belly.

“I don't know about you, but I'm a little hungry now." He pointed out. “How 'bout we get something to eat?"

“Yeah, I could eat!" I said.

“How about a funnel cake?" He asked.

“Heh, I can't even remember the last time I had one of those." I said.

“Well, I guess it's time to change that." He winked, leading me over to a booth selling them.

We bought one and shared it. It tasted so delightful, hot fudge and powdered sugar on top of the deep-fried dough. As we continued to eat it, I smiled at Orion, before taking some of the powdered sugar on my finger and booping his nose, leaving some of the white powder on it.

“Hey!" He protested, giggling.

He then took some powdered sugar in one of his paws and sprinkled it on my head, making me laugh.

“Silly pup!" He teased. “Also you've got some on your face."

“Where?"

“Right there." He chuckled, giving me a loving smile.

As we finished up the funnel cake I looked up behind him at the Ferris wheel, getting an idea of what to do next.

“Might be a little cliché, but how about we take a ride on that?" I asked, pointing up to it.

“Sure!" He said. “Bet the view would be great from up there!"

We waited in line for a couple of minutes before it finally came to be our turn. We stepped inside the cart and the ride started. We both slowly went up, watching as the boardwalk got smaller and smaller until we could see the sky above all the rides and booths. It was a beautiful view, the sun hadn't completely touched down on the horizon yet, and the sunlight reflected radiantly on the water.

We both just stood there, the Ferris wheel stopping for a second to let some more people get on down below. I felt Orion's paw slowly rest on my opposite arm and pull me close. I snuggled against the fur of his neck.

“Heh, when you called me in to give a statement about that robbery, did you ever think this is where we'd end up?" I asked, looking up at him.

Just then I noticed a photobooth and got excited.
