Medi-drake - Never too late to get help
This is a little 10k slice of life story about an ex-military combat medic dragon adjusting to life in the non-combat world.
This is being a bit of a slow burn and I hope I haven't lost many of you yet.
Smut is towards the end if you can last that long.
Mega thanks to
for proof reading this!
Keenis slowly opened his eyes and blinked a few times to try and clear his vision so he could work out where he was. The ceiling above him swirled and flickered, but as his vision focused he realized it was just the ceiling fan spinning above him and that he was still at Meg's house. With a tired stretch, he extended his hind legs until his paws touched the far wall and stifled a yawn, before he slowly rolled over to his feet. The sun was setting outside and he knew he would need to get home before it got dark. Stepping out of the room, he made his way across the hall to the bathroom for his usual wake up rituals. He paused with one paw on the cold tiles, as he realized that Meg had converted the bathroom into a general dumping ground of odds and sods. Looking at the pile of boxes and old holiday decorations he sighed, the apartment was designed for both dragons and humans, with facilities that would accommodate him. However the toilet was buried behind a wall of Megs life.
"Come on Meg..." he muttered to himself, his groin starting to tingle. He contemplated just leaving the apartment and trying to find a public restroom, or even a decent bush in a park, but then remembered Meg using the en-suite in her bedroom. "I'm sure she would understand," he said, trying to convince himself, as he turned and went to her bedroom. Her shift would have started a few hours ago, but he knocked on the door just in case. With no response he gently opened the door, feeling like he was intruding on her personal space. His nose twitched with the scent of 'Meg'. He scanned the room and took note of her larger than usual double bed, blankets tossed back from when she got up. Thick black out curtains filled the window frames casting the whole room into darkness, a necessity for shift work.
Keenis spotted the en-suite and quickly padded his way over to it. It was a lot smaller than the main bathroom, but still large enough for him and was relieved to see there was a toilet suitable for a dragon. Although toilet was a strong word, for the most part it was a large hole in the bathroom floor which was covered by a grate which once removed, would serve as a toilet for him.
Keenis gave a refreshing shiver as he exited the en-suite, his nose twitched as he smelt something else in Meg's bedroom. He cocked his head at the smell and breathed deeply to confirm what he smelt. The scent of another drake and that of a dragoness in heat could faintly be smelt on the air and his nose twitched again, as he instinctively tried to locate it. Keenis prowled through Meg’s room, taking care not to disturb anything, as he quested for the source of the enticing scent. He paused, when his nose was on the opposite side of the bed from where Meg slept. The mixed scents of a dragoness in heat, a male drake and the unmistakable scent of sex filled his nostrils and he reeled back. He narrowed his gaze, trying to put the pieces together. Meg had said that she had dated drakes, but he hadn’t taken her seriously, thinking she was only joking to rile him up. Her apartment was well lived in, so it couldn't be old scents from the previous tenants. Confused, he gave a snort to clear his mind. Looking around the room, he saw one of the drawers on her bedside table was slightly ajar and the scent of a dragoness in heat was stronger the closer he stepped to it.
His questing nose gently opened the drawer and he loudly sniffed its contents. With a happy murr, he smiled as the scent of a needy ‘ness flooded his nostrils. Opening his eyes after enjoying it for a few seconds, he pulled back and looked inside the drawer, his eyes going wide at what he saw. A bottle of perfume was on its side, its contents slowly forming a puddle, but that was not what had Keenis captivated. "My My Meggles, you are a feisty one," he chuckled, as he inspected several large toys in the drawer. All were different colors and from a famous brand that fashioned their toys after draconic appendages. He didn't feel comfortable handling the toys, but picked up the bottle of perfume, its oily fluid rubbing off on his paw as he read the label. Keenis tried to pronounce the foreign words. "Eau De ToiLottle," he muttered, giving it a quick sniff confirmed this was the scent of a dragoness in heat. He felt his slit become a bit tighter and he quickly put the bottle back, this time right side up, so it wouldn't leak. As he went to close the drawer, he couldn't help but stare at the toys. Some had exotic ridges and knots, but the size of them was not too dissimilar to his own sleek, tapered member and his brain started to drift to dirtier places.
"Come on Keenis, she is just a friend," he said and shook his head, closing the drawer and snapping his mind back to the present. Just as he was about to turn away, he gently used a claw to reposition the drawer back to where he found it and turned to leave the room. His mind kept wandering back to Meg's bed and he thought about what sort of activities had happened on it. Stepping back into the living area of the apartment, he quickly cleared his head. The lack of heat pheromones doing wonders to keep his mind out of the gutter. Looking around, he saw that her bin was starting to overflow and pulled out the bag of rubbish. "It's the very least you could do," he told himself, as he pulled the cord on the bag, drawing it tight. Seeing his harness hanging over the kitchen island, he got himself dressed and left the apartment, rubbish bag swinging from his harness as he walked.
Making sure the apartment door was locked, he then dropped the rubbish down a chute in the hallway before making his way downstairs and out into the busy street where people of all walks were heading home for the end of the day. While working the night shift did present many benefits, like shops being open after work, Keenis preferred to work the day shift. He scanned the street and spotted a launch area. Due to the sudden down draft of a dragon taking off and landing, dragons were encouraged to utilize these designated zones. Most of them were nothing more than a painted square on the road and, while it was an offence to park a car in these zones, it was not uncommon to find them blocked.
Keenis weaved his way through the pedestrians and, with a quick check to make sure no one was landing, he stepped into the zone and launched into the air. His large, tan wing arms stretching outwards and thrusting down, the sensation of his wing membranes stretching as they enveloped the air always calmed Keenis. With a few heavy beats of his wings, he was well above the roof line of the buildings and joined a stream of dragons heading east.
The sky was cast into an amber glow as the sun started to dip below the horizon, its dying rays reflecting and refracting off the glass skyscrapers. At this height the smell of the city was reduced and Keenis breathed deeply, enjoying the feeling of air moving over his strong wings as he relaxed and glided for a while.
He still had a fair bit of time to rest before he was required to return back to work, but he started to make a mental list of activities he wanted to get done when he returned home. He knew that he should take it easy, but at the same time wanted to keep his sleep schedule on track.
He flew casually across the city towards his apartment on the outskirts so as to not exert himself any more than he needed to. As the stream of dragons he followed started to thin out, he quickly found himself flying alone for the last mile of the trip. A shiver ran through his wings as the sun's last rays finally gave up and the cold evening air sapped at his warmth. Keenis squeezed a small pouch on his harness, inside he could feel a pair of lights. Night flying could be especially dangerous in the city and it had become a requirement for dragons to wear a light on at least one of their horns and on their paws, so they could be seen from above and below by other flyers. Looking around, it was clear that he was alone in the air and threw caution to the wind.
Keenis stretched his neck and tail with a yawn, as he approached his neighborhood. His home was not in a particularly well off area, with crime and vandalism quite common sights, but the rent was cheap and he didn't mind that most of the residents were human. He chuckled to himself, remembering the first time he caught a group of young adults between his apartment complex and the neighbors. Something about an ex military drake blocking the exit of an alleyway rapidly caused them to rethink tagging his wall.
A benefit of living in a cheap area was that he could afford a rooftop apartment. He joked with Meg that he lived in a 'penthouse', but it was really just the same as every other apartment. The only difference being, that there was no roof over his balcony, which made it more convenient for landing on, particularly after a long day at the hospital.
With a final heavy flap, he flared out his wings and touched down with his back legs first on the balcony. His soft paw pads silenced his landing and he dropped gently to all fours, tucking his wings in neatly. He put a paw on the handle of the sliding door and used his magic to unlock it. His apartment was cast in darkness, as he fumbled around for the light switch. With a click, his home was cast in a welcoming warm glow from the oyster light in the living room that led to the balcony.
He stepped in and quickly stripped off his harness. He could still smell the faint scent of smoke on it and took it to the kitchen counter. Going through the pouches, he pulled out his night lights and, after pressing a button, saw the little set of lights come on, indicating that they were still charged. He pulled everything out of his harness and laid out the contents on the counter. despite it being a slim harness, he was always surprised how much crap he would accumulate over the week. He pulled out a coffee card with one stamp on it and put it next to the stack of others, which he kept forgetting to take with him.
He set aside a pair of "aviator" sun goggles; flying west to work in the afternoon meant that he was flying directly into the sun and these had been invaluable for his flights. While Meg would often laugh at him for wearing them, they were standard issue for dragons in the military and it was one of the very few "military grade" pieces of equipment that didn't break when you touched it for the first time.
His heart sank a little as he dipped a paw into a pouch and remembered he had bought a chocolate bar from the vending machine at work as he left the other day. He fished it out gently, its gooey goodness still contained in the wrapper and he put it in the fridge. It was meant to be a reward for working the double shift, but when the market exploded it quickly became forgotten.
Keenis plugged the sink and turned on the taps, with a shuddering groan they rattled until a steady stream of hot water started to fill the sink. He added a scoop of laundry powder to the basin, tossed his harness in and massaged it under the water. Living by himself, he felt no need to buy a washing machine, when the only garment that would need washing was his harness. While a dishwasher might be nice, most of the time he would just eat food out of the tin with a spoon that had a long thick handle suitable for his paws.
He pulled his tablet out of its wrist holster and gave it a dunk, relying on its waterproofing to stay working. As he pulled it out, he saw a collection of messages and missed calls. Keenis set it aside, took off his wrist holster too and dropped it into the sink to soak together with the harness. He dried his paws and tablet with a towel and sat back on his haunches, flicking through the messages. A few were spam and scam messages from unknown numbers, but he saw a message from his therapist.
"Hi Keenis, you missed your appointment this morning. I just wanted to make sure you are okay.
Dr. Prin"
He quickly replied: "hi, really sorry. Something came up at work and I couldn't get away. Do you have another slot free this week?"
Keenis had started seeing Dr. Prin only to get Meg off his tail. It was funded by the taxpayer, he had been enrolled in when he left the service early and he had expected a large amount of paperwork to get support. But surprisingly, it was easier than expected and a part of him was mildly concerned about how many others had gone through the service for the process to be so smooth. While he wasn't expecting much, he found himself opening up more and more to Dr Prin and left feeling better as a result.
Holding the phone in his paw, he walked on three legs over towards the couch and fell onto his side on the soft cushions. Placing the device within easy reach he stretched out and began to slowly relax before hearing a ding from his phone.
"Glad to hear you are okay. I have a free slot at 8 am tomorrow morning, or is that too early?"
"0800. I'll be there. Thanks," replied Keenis.
He stretched himself out on the couch and breathed in the smell of home, the night air wafting through the sliding door relaxing him. His eyes flicked open and he pulled his tablet close, opening up a new message and texting Meg.
K: “Hey, just got home. Safe and sound. How is work?”
There wasn't much pause before his phone dinged back.
M: “I'm just on break. Glad you are home. What are your plans for this fine evening?”
K: “Probably clean the house a bit, catch up on some adulting.”
M: “your neighbours must love you :)”
K: “I don't hear them complaining”
M: “you are a lot bigger than them.”
Keenis chuckled and rolled onto his back. His body still felt lethargic after the events of the marketplace and he knew he should rest. He started cracking his toes, while his mind wandered off. A ding from his tablet returning him back to the room.
M: “omg turn on the news”
Keenis rolled onto his side and fished the remote from the small table at the end. The television flicked to life and the sound came before the picture.
"We now cross to some incredible CCTV footage of the accident, which engulfed the eastern markets in flames. As you can see, we have a very brave individual running towards the fire to help save those in need"
The footage captured a grainy image of a human running onto the scene and helping some of the injured. In the background Keenis could see himself, working hard to save the teal dragoness. He felt his scales tingle at the memory.
"From what we understand, this man was the first on the scene and the mayor is calling for any information on the identity of this hero," one of the newscasters reported
"Well you know what that means Steve, sounds like a medal is up for grabs," the other replied.
"Absolutely, what a true hero," the first newscaster said, "And we move to our next story, a staff member from the international logistics chain Drag'n'Drop has gone missing. Police are asking for any information regarding the whereabouts of Tracy...."
Kenis stopped paying attention as his tablet dinged.
M: “that's fucking bullshit! They are going to give him a medal for being first, and your already there.”
Keenis smiled, he could imagine her face going as red as her hair.
K: “it's all good, he helped. Let him have a medal, I've got my own”
M: “nah it's still shit. You did good work and almost got yourself killed, but he is gonna get a medal cos he has 2 legs.”
K: “it's fine Meggles, I really don't care. And he helped.”
Keenis sighed and put the tablet down and turned back to the television, opening up a streaming app, he started to scroll through options to waste the night. A small part of him nagged him to do something productive, but his body still felt heavy and he laid his head down on the couch, absentmindedly tapping away at the remote, trying to find something to watch. He flicked through the endless options of reality tv shows and paused for a moment on a sports channel, it showed two dragons wrestling to see who could dominate the other. "TV is getting weird," he said and kept flicking, before settling on a documentary.
Instantly Keenis recognized the voice of the famous narrator. The documentary was about the conflict that Keenis fought in, but explained the details of the struggles leading up to the fighting. Keenis wasn't paying much attention to the narration, but instead focused on the beautiful landscapes and vistas of the country. The images captured before the fighting broke out showed a majestic mountain range breaking up the horizon, their snow capped peaks transitioning to sand and rocks. Keenis’ remembered first time he had seen the unique landscape and could even name some of the mountains. He muted the narration, while the details of what led to such a conflict were significant to the war, he felt his mind wandering back to when he was there.
He shook his head as he got up and fished his gear out of the sink, pulling the plug and giving them a quick rinse to get the soap off. He gave them a firm squeeze to try to wring most of the moisture out, the water running through his strong paws.
"So what's the deal with you and Taalli?" asked Bishop, both he and Keenis were on laundry duty, washing their squad's fatigues and bags in a large trough under the harsh desert sun.
"What do you mean?" Keenis said flatly, pulling a shirt out of the trough and wringing it out.
"Oh come on doc, she is basically throwing herself at you," Bishop chuckled. "You not into the ladies or something?"
Keenis knew he wasn't going to get out of this easily. With a sigh, he hung the shirt on a makeshift line that was strung between the tents of their squad. "No, I like a ‘ness just as much as the next drake. She is just so.... I don't know"
"It's ok mate, I won't tell her," Bishop said, finally about to get an answer to a mystery that the whole squad was contemplating.
"She is just soo.... Gritty?" Keenis said, as he continued to wash another article of clothing.
"Wait? That's it?!" Bishop chuckled. "You won't get with her cos she is dirty?"
Keenis felt his snout go red. "I'm just saying, I'm not against strong ‘nesses, but I don't feel anything towards her when she smells of phosphorus and oil. What if a girl started flirting with you and was covered in shit?"
Bishop scrubbed a shirt for a while before answering, "Yeah ok, I kind of see your point."
"Thank-you," Keenis muttered and hung another shirt up on the line, "Like I'm sure she is fine-"
"Sure," Bishop interrupted and began scrubbing another shirt. "Hey can you cover for me? Gotta take a shit," he said suddenly and dropped the shirt back into the trough.
Keenis gave him a nod as he continued, Taalli now occupying more of his mind than usual. They often shared a tent and while he had tried to remain professional with her, she was often quite forward about trying to get him to mate with her. He knew that masturbation was healthy and didn't blame her at all, but her doing it next to him when she thought he was asleep was sometimes a bit grating.
Keenis wrung out a shirt and hung it on the line. He caught a glimpse of Taalli talking to Bishop and the captain behind one of the other tents and frowned. With a shrug he went back to washing the clothes.
"Like I'm not saying she wouldn't scrub up nicely," he muttered to himself, as he washed the next item, "Probably actually quite a nice looking ‘ness under all that crap." His mind wandering, he had seen glimpses of vibrant orange scales on her, and wondered what she would look like under all that soot and grime.
Bishop eventually returned and continued to help. "Did you win?" asked Keenis.
"Yup, dropped the kids off at the pool," Bishop lied. Keenis looked at him with a sideways glance, but shrugged. Being new in the squad, he sometimes felt like a bit of an outsider and if Bishop wasn't telling him what was happening then pushing it wouldn't get him an answer.
As they finished hanging the last item up on the line, Keenis reached into the trough and pulled the plug, draining the remaining soapy water into the ground beneath. He used a paw to push a clump of bubbles towards the drain and made sure nothing was left in the shiny stainless steel tub, as their captain approached.
"Hey Scarecrow, what's up?" Bishop asked, drying his hands on his pants.
"Briefing in 5, I'll round up the others," he said calmly, as he kept walking past them.
Keenis watched the captain leave and looked to Bishop, "Any ideas?"
"Probs another mission," Bishop said, not maintaining eye contact, which caused Keenis to frown.
He spent the next few minutes checking his gear and making sure he had refilled the medical supplies, while the team assembled around a folding table. Scarecrow cleared his throat, "Alright Zulu's-"
"Sorry cap, where is Taalli," Keenis interrupted and dipped his head slightly.
"She is busy, but I'll get you to fill her in," he said with a hint of a smirk and unrolled a map onto the table between the squad members, "We have a mission, a high profile target is reported to be heading down this road tonight." He drew a finger down a winding road, which left the city and climbed a rocky outcrop. "Our goal is to setup along this grid marker. If and ONLY if we get a positive ID on the target, we will intercept. Zulu delta one and two will be holed up on the cliffs here and provide overwatch. Recon has identified a few caves which should be good for you. We will be further down the road, here,"he gestured to a hairpin turn on the map.
"Are we nabbing or bagging?" Joker asked.
"Asset capture is ideal. But if we can't..." the captain said.
"Understood cap," joker said and looked up. "Hold up, INTRUDER ON BASE!" he yelled, causing them all to turn around as a bright orange dragon walked towards them, clean scales glistening and shining in the afternoon desert sun.
"Joker, did I ever tell you to fuck off?" smirked Taalli.
"Oh, it's you Taalli, you look..... Good," said joker.
Keenis' eyes went wide, as she moved purposefully towards him. "Yes, you look…" Keenis said, his voice drifting off. Something inside him awakening with a roar, as he was no longer seeing the grime covered annoying squadmate, but a powerful and elegant dragoness, who could rain down terror on the world at a whim. Her scent was caught by the afternoon breeze and Keenis couldn't help but take it in. Under the mask of soap he could smell her warm, pleasant scent and he moved his back legs a bit closer together as she moved past behind him, before sitting down next to him.
"Glad you could join us Taalli, Keenis will fill you in. I will get you two to fly ahead and we will join you via ground vehicles," Scarecrow said, "Any questions?"
"What does the target look like?" Keenis said, peeling his gaze away from the elegant ‘ness next to him.
"Still waiting on that," Scarecrow said and saw his confused look. "Don't give me that look, you know what I know. Once command gives us details, I'll let you know," he said, holding Keenis's gaze, "Gear up, I want you both in the air in 10 minutes."
"Roger that," Taalli said.
The team fell out and returned to their tents, collecting their kit and making sure they had what they needed for their upcoming mission. It was getting into mid afternoon and they knew that it would get dark quickly. They packed night vision and a few MRE packs, just in case they were out longer than expected. Keenis was ready quickly and pulled his harness up over his shoulders, making sure his straps were tight.
He nervously made his way over to Taalli who had her back towards him, his eyes locked onto her shapely rump and tail as it swayed from side to side as she dug through her kit. He swallowed hard and shook his head, "Hey, so Taalli."
Her head lifted from a pouch and looked at him over her shoulder with her powerful eyes. "Yessum?" she said sweetly, she could tell that he was clearly looking at her differently.
Keenis focused on what he had to say, "So, the mission. We are going to provide overwatch from the caves. That cool with you?"
Taalli smiled at his nervousness, the stern drake who hardly gave her the time of day seemed to be melting in front of her. "Yeah that's cool, I would like that," she said playfully and gave him a wink.
"That's not what I mean, I mean, it’s not a date. It’s for the mission," Keenis stuttered.
Taalli smiled as she heaved her harness up against her belly and started to tighten the straps, "Oh, I didn't say date, you did," she deliberately struggled with a strap. "Give me a paw, would you?" she said and nudged her head towards the problematic buckle. He shuffled his way over to her and gently placed a paw on the strap, holding it down while pulling the buckle up its length. He could feel her strong body under his paw, her clean, orange scales soft and smooth. He didn't realize that he had held his breath, until he stepped back and softly exhaled. "Thanks," Taalli said gently and stepped away from him, looking back she caught him staring at her, "Coming?"
Keenis quickly caught up to her, walking beside her as they made their way away from the tents. As soon as they were clear, they gave a quick look to the sky, to make sure that there were no other dragons or aircraft above or behind them, and launched together, their harnesses heavy underneath their bodies. Keenis put on his sun goggles and glanced over, to watch Taalli's powerful, black wing arms surging to provide her lift, as they climbed into the heavens. He flew beside her and a little bit behind, the afternoon sun causing her scales to shimmer and shine with an amber glow. Now, without the cover of grime, he could appreciate her body’s graceful curves. She was not a skinny ‘ness by any stretch, but every contour was there because of the toned, powerful muscles, now moving smoothly under her hide. While Keenis's scales were a leaf green with tan wing arms and throat scales, Taalli's body was a burnt orange in contrast, but curiously had black wing arms and paws, looking like she stepped in tar.
Keenis was grateful for his heavily tinted goggles, not only were they protecting his eyes from the setting sun and the wind, but was allowing him to stare at Taalli without her noticing. She would look back at him occasionally and smile. He tried to keep his face forward as he checked her out while they flew towards the rocky outcropping they were to be nested upon.
"Zulu Delta Two to Zulu Actual. We are arriving on station and will be on overwatch in 5," Keenis said, while holding the transmit button on his harness's long range radio.
"Copy Zulu Delta Two, get comfortable, intel suggests we may be in for a long night. Zulu Actual out." Keenis looked up and saw Taalli giving him a funny look.
"What?" Keenis asked, catching her gaze as they started to descend to the caves.
"Nothing, You are just so.... formal," Taalli chuckled and looked ahead, as they both flared their wings slightly to slow down. Taalli landed first at the mouth of the cave and moved deeper to give him room to land.
Keenis's paws touched down gently and he looked to Taalli, her harness dropped to the ground as she released the straps, the collection of grenades and charges landing with a thud that made Keenis flinch. Looking around he took in the details of the cave, it was larger than he expected, being easily large enough for a whole family of dragons. Taalli started to explore the cavern, her nose twitching as she took in the scents and smells. She picked up something from the ground and turned it over in her paw. "I think dragons used to live here," she muttered to herself more than anyone. Keenis approached her and saw what she was looking at, it was a fragment of a dragon’s egg, its dull green color was faded and it looked brittle with age.
"How long ago do you think?" Keenis asked and picked up another fragment. The floor was quite dusty with desert sand and under the layers of dirt there were bone fragments of animals and shed scales.
"Who knows..." she said and continued her exploration. There was a slightly raised plateau in the middle of the cave and she hopped up onto it and gave it a sniff. "I think it was a nest for a family or something. But they are long gone, I can’t smell any dragons at all," she said and turned over a loose rock, small flickers of a coppery vein reflected in the dim light.
"Hey check this out" Keenis said, staring at one of the walls. Taalli padded over and took a look at what he was looking at. Etched into the cave walls were crude carvings of a family of dragons, it looked like they were scratched into the cave wall by a dragon's claws. Keenis and Taalli sat next to each other in silence as they took in the details, the etchings seemed to tell a story. A large dragon with a mane of quills seemed to be the father or leader of the family. As they looked further along the scenes changed to that of a small dragon leaving the family, then others trying to leave only for the large dragon to stop them. The carvings of the large dragon changed to be more harsh and the lines were more aggressive, they showed him attacking the family and the number of dragons dwindled, the story ended with the remaining dragons leaving the large dragon behind alone.
"I think this was carved by the dragons of old," Keenis said, as he looked at the last carving.
Taalli grunted softly in acknowledgement, "Did you bring food?"
Keenis smiled at the sudden change of topic, "Of course."
"Alright, crack it out then," Taalli said and moved back to her harness, neatly folding it so it could be put on in a hurry if needed. She smirked to herself while she did so and knew they wouldn't be called upon tonight. Taking her time while rummaging through her harness, she made sure to invitingly sway her hips slowly from side to side.
Keenis swallowed hard and crouched down so he could gently undo his harness, softly dropping it to the ground. His eyes catching a glimpse of under Taalli's tail and he quickly looked away. Opening a pouch he reached in and grabbed a few MREs to look through them. "We have... Beef stew or.... Maple Sausage-" He looked up and saw Taalli looking back at him opening her mouth with a smirk. "Shut it! I'm talking about a meal"
Taalli laughed. "Me too, What were you thinking of?" she joked "It's ok, I've given up on pushing you, so relax. Can we share?" she lied, she had convinced Bishop to find out what his hang-up was and their captain was more than happy to put Keenis and Bishop together so they could talk. The only member of the squad who didn't know the plan was Joker, only because she couldn't trust his large mouth.
Keenis looked at the two packs in his paw, her question was innocent enough and he also wanted to mix the stew with the sausages. "Sure," he said and Taalli pulled out a small camp stove from her pack and they both made their way to the mouth of the cave.
She unfolded the small metal frame and tossed in a few solid fuel pellets into the bottom, Keenis watched as she cleared her throat and ignited the stove with a small drop of liquid fire that dripped from her mouth. She wiped her mouth with a paw, "Sorry. Do you find that gross?".
Keenis shook his head. "No, I'm still amazed that you can do that," he said, causing her to smile and lay down adjacent to him, her wings tucked neatly against her sides. There were many traits that are associated with dragons, their proud nature, their powerful egos, but one that was not as widely known was their ability to adapt and evolve quickly. At some level, dragons were always in tune with the world around them and it had only been a few thousand years ago that dragon's could not speak and were driven by primal instincts. But as the world changed so did their bodies. They learnt how to communicate and work with the changing landscape to ensure they survived. As a result however, some traits that were traditionally connected with dragons had either been bred out of them, or in the case of fire glands, cut out of them. Over time, those that were born without the use of magic or fire glands had been used to breed to make taming and trading easier.
While they waited for the stove to heat up, the sun continued its path down towards the horizon. Keenis looked to Taalli, "Can I ask you something?"
Taalli glanced over to him, a bit more excited than she probably should have been, "Of course."
"Breathing fire, how does that work?" Keenis asked, it was nice to talk to her without her trying to get him under her tail.
"Come on Keenis, you’re a doc," Taalli chuckled, "Two glands in the mouth, they mix and then ignite."
Keenis opened the MREs with a sharp claw and put them in a pot over the stove. "No, I mean. When did you know you could do it, how long can you do it for etc."
"Oh, it’s kind of funny. Just after my first heat was when I first breathed fire. Scared the fuck out of my boyfriend at the time," she said and looked to the horizon with a smirk, "Pretty sure he knew I wasn't faking it after that." She glanced at Keenis and saw that he was looking as awkward as ever, "As for how long? I think my record is a minute. But I have to not breathe fire for a week prior to build up enough. Although it tastes disgusting."
"Really?" Keenis asked. "Using magic leaves a bad taste too."
"Pfft! Why does magic taste bad?" Taalli spluttered with a smile and could tell by his smile that he was starting to relax around her a little.
"It’s weird, but whenever I really push myself to my limits, I get a sour taste in my mouth. There isn't much documentation as to why, but I think it’s a warning that we are exerting ourselves too much. Like feeling sick if you drink too much, the body thinks its poisoned and tries to reject it," Keenis explained and stirred the food.
"So when was the last time you got yourself shitfaced?" Taalli asked. She got up to fetch a couple of bowls from Keenis's harness and returned back to him, this time sitting a bit closer to the green drake.
"Just before I shipped off to basic, me and a few friends got hammered hard," Keenis said fondly, remembering his school friends encouraging him to chug a whole bottle of whiskey, "How about you?"
"Oh, well... Promise not to tell anyone?" Taalli asked innocently. Keenis looked her in the eyes and nodded. "A couple months back, we were doing a recon on an area and found a hut full of moonshine. Cap told us to destroy it, and well.. Joker and I tested it a bit before we burnt it."
"Taalli!" Keenis exclaimed.
"Oh I regret it hard, the hangover was brutal. But promise me you won’t tell Cap," she said and leaned against him, she heard his breath hitch a little at the sudden closeness, but she didn't pull away and smiled when he didn't either.
Keenis's heart beat a little faster as he felt her warm body against his wing, a part of him begging to just lift his wing and put it over the beautiful ‘ness. She clearly wanted it, but he kept his mind focused on the food cooking slowly on the stove. "I think this is done," he said and shuffled forwards, causing her to stop leaning on him. He dished out the stew and sausages and passed her a bowl first, before returning back to her side.
She smirked as she felt him lay down next to her again. He had free reign of the whole cave and decided to be right next to her. They ate in relative silence, picking around at the food with their claws and licking the bowls once done. Taalli turned her head to Keenis. "You got some on your snout," she lied, causing him to give a lick to one side of his snout, "No, other side. No further back, almost got it, nah nah nah, bottom lip." She smiled as she guided him to lick an imaginary piece of food off his snout. "Here let me," she said and before he had a chance to respond, pressed her snout against his cheek and gave a tender lick. She kept her snout against his cheek when she could feel his body stiffen, but not pull away. She gave another lick on his jawbone and pushed her luck by giving the back of his jaw a little nibble which caused him to pull away.
"Taalli!" he exclaimed.
"Sorry. I just got a bit carried away," she said and looked into his deep eyes. "You know you are very hot, right?" she said in a low voice.
Keenis swallowed hard, he had never been called that before. Growing up he was always a bit shy and never sought the attention of a ‘ness during school, others in his class were stronger and naturally attracted the girls while he was usually buried in books, trying to get a head start on a medical career. "No I'm not, I'm just what's available," he muttered, flinching slightly as he heard what he said.
"Hey! Don't be a dick. You are not the only drake at camp buddy," Taalli exclaimed, feeling a bit hurt by his off paw remark.
Keenis knew he had bitten too hard. "Sorry, that's not what I meant. It’s just I'm not that good looking," he said quietly. Taalli darted her head down to his forearm and bit his elbow hard with her sharp teeth, causing him to yelp and leap to his feet.
"Let’s look at you then!" she said as she stood up and slowly circled him, his head tracking her movements for risk of another bite. "Long legs, great for cuddling, big strong wings, not an ounce of fat on you, thanks to our crappy food and training. Your neck is just begging for a good nibble, your scales are smooth and not like sandpaper. Between your sexy curved horns, that I really want to wrap my paws around when you eat me out, is a switched-on brain. You are a Marine, and a good one at that, It’s no easy feat to be where you are and you have the body and brains to back it up. So Yes, Keenis, I do find you hot and while I could just lift my tail for any of the drakes in camp, I like you," she exclaimed, basically yelling.
He was a bit taken aback by her powerful claims and his immediate thoughts were of flying from the cave, but the mission dictated they stay. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, trying to think of something to say while she panted to catch her breath from her outburst. "So Keenis, now that I have gotten that off my chest. What are you going to do about it?"
He blinked a few times trying to rationalize what was happening. "I'm sorry, It’s just..." he started softly, his head dipping down in shame as he couldn't hold her powerful gaze.
"You just what? Am I too ugly? Do you know how hard I had to scrub up for tonight because you couldn't see past a bit of dirt?" She said, her voice starting to waiver a little.
"I don't know what to do!" Keenis blurted out. His voice elevated and claws digging into the dusty cave floor. He looked up and saw her staring him down, he felt weak and ashamed as she waited for him to continue. "I… I have not been with a ‘ness before," he muttered.
Taalli took a moment to realize what he was saying. "Wait, what?" she asked. In front of her was a handsome drake that should have had the pick of the ‘nesses. 'Did he just say he was a virgin?' she thought to herself, not believing what she was hearing.
"Sex, mating, fucking, I haven't done it," he said and lay back down next to the fire.
Taalli stood still trying to comprehend "Wait, really!?" she said with a bit more of a smile than she should have.
"Oh ha ha, yes the big strong soldier drake has never gotten his dick wet," Keenis said, while stoking the fire slightly with a paw.
"But how?" she asked and caught a glare from him, "I mean, but you are so good looking."
"I was a bit of a book nerd at school and then, when I enlisted, there weren’t many ‘nesses to try my luck with," Keenis explained. "And then you’re so confident and a bit overbearing sometimes, I just..." his voice trailing off as he looked out to the night sky.
Taalli padded over to him and saw him tuck his wings closer as she lay down next to him. "Well I think that is kinda cute," she finally said after a long period of silence and she saw him quickly glance to her. "I'm sorry if I was a bit forward with you, I didn't know. But listen, it’s nothing to be ashamed of," she said and gently moved a wing over his body, pulling him close.
"Please don't tell the squad, they would rip me apart if they knew," Keenis muttered, finding comfort in her wing hug.
Taalli smirked. "Well, we might be out here a while," she said and gently nuzzled him behind his jaw, causing him to gasp slightly. "And there aren’t many ‘nesses in the corpse," she muttered into his ear, her warm breath causing his scales to tingle, "And I'm 'what's available', as you said"
Keenis let out a breath that he didn't know he had been holding, her warm wing and snout pressed against him causing his groin to tighten. He felt himself giving in slightly to her touch, she was right, she was beautiful, available and there may not be another chance.
"We can take it slowly, whatever works for you," she whispered, her voice low and gentle. She saw him close his eyes and lean in slightly into her snout, at which she started to lick and nibble his jawline, exciting a shiver from his green scaled body.
"I just don't think I will, you know... last," he whispered.
Taalli continued her ministrations on his neck and face. "How do you get good at something?" she whispered, increasing the strength of her nibbles.
"Practice," he groaned, feeling his tip starting to emerge from his slit.
"Well then, let’s start with your first lesson," she said and got up from beside him, pressing her side against his neck and taking a few steps forward until his head was near her rump. "Perhaps you should get a look at what you’re dealing with," she said and lifted her tail slightly. Looking back, she saw his eyes go wide at the sight of her tender slit inches from his snout, "Go on, it's ok. I don't bite… unless you are into that."
Keenis knew what she was asking for and slowly leaned forward, kissing her strong thighs and slowly making his way to the crease in her scales. He heard her gasp as his nose came to her slit, his breath tickling her and causing her body to prepare itself for what was about to happen. He gently ran his tongue up the length of her vent, the taste was unique but not unwelcome. She whined softly as he continued to lick her outside folds.
"That's it, Keenis, like that," she said encouragingly, closing her eyes as she enjoyed him finally giving in and pleasuring her. "I taste better further in," she moaned softly.
Keenis pulled back slightly. "How do you…" he started, before her tail draped over his shoulders and tapped him gently to continue. Placing his muzzle against her groin, he slowly pushed his tongue into her wet folds. The heat startled him, the texture was like the softest silk and her whole body was clenching and unclenching, drawing him deeper. He adjusted his back legs as he felt his shaft starting to emerge. She was right, further in the taste was stronger and more potent, the smell of her arousal flooding his mind and the sounds she was making encouraged him to continue.
"Yes, Higher!" she gasped and he started licking the top of her tunnel, her back legs adjusting and twitching as he found a sensitive spot. "Fuck, yes!" she moaned, eyes closed and claws digging into the ground as her body finally got the attention it desired.
He continued to eat her out, his neck getting a little sore but nothing he couldn't deal with. She lowered her front to the ground and kept her rear up high, she gasped as she felt him place his front paws on her rump while he rotated his snout against her, his long and dexterous tongue searching and finding areas that she hadn't felt a drake touch in years.
He could feel his hard shaft starting to get painfully hard and he pulled back to catch his breath, her body quivering and elated as she rested her head on the ground. "You taste amazing Taalli," he gasped between heavy pants. Her longing eyes looking back at him with her mouth open, panting.
"Please, please can you take me?" She moaned softly, Keenis' body reacted seeing the strong ‘ness begging him. Before he knew it, he was tracing kisses and licks up her thigh and lower back as he mounted her. His body reacted on instinct, as he moved into position over her. She lifted her front up off of the ground slightly, so she could support his weight as his bulk moved her tail off to the side. His tapered shaft was erect and angled parallel to his body, as he clumsily moved his hips to hers. He gasped as he felt his tip poke her thigh, leaving a glossy trail of pre on her. He tried to wiggle his hips into position and pushed forwards again.
"Right, not that far, just a bit lower, lower cowboy," she guided him as he jabbed his tip against her rump. She gasped as she felt his tip suddenly make contact with the left lip of her vulva and he instinctively pushed forwards, parting her tight wet walls with his smooth length. "That's the good stuffs" she gasped, as she was filled by his shaft. He groaned, as her warmth enveloped him and took a moment on her back to get used to the sensation of being inside her clenching body. He could feel her heart beating as her whole body seemed to clench and throb with each heavy beat.
"Are you ok?" he asked, opening his eyes which he didn't know he had closed.
"Mmmh, yes," she said softly. "Take your time, but it's ok if you let go alright? It’s never perfect your first time," she said reassuringly. She groaned softly as she felt his length retreat from her, before pushing back in gently. "Good," she gasped.
Keenis was in heaven, her warm walls wrapped around his shaft as he started to thrust in and out of her, his head near hers as he started to find a rhythm that worked for him. While his length was missing a lot of the features of Taalli's toys, nothing could beat the real thing, his warm breath on the back of her neck as he surged over her, rocking her body gently with each thrust.
The scent of their combined arousal was filling their nostrils, as his hips pressed against hers. She started pushing back into his thrusts, knowing that this was a special time for him, but she really wanted him to go a bit harder. She looked back at him and saw his eyes scrunched closed and smirked a little. She could tell that he was close and was holding back. "It's ok, you can let go," she said softly, "We can go again later if you want to."
He groaned as he started to pick up his pace, putting more weight over her he started pulling her hips into his thrusts with his strong forepaws. "Mmm, harder…" Taalli panted heavily, her voice ragged and filled with desire for her new mate, "Please…"
Keenis needed no further encouragement as he started pounding away, his hard shaft pushing her walls apart with each thrust and he could feel his climax rapidly approaching. "I'm, I'm..." he muttered, unable to complete a full sentence.
Taalli looked back and knew he was about to blow, something about his innocence causing pleasure to rapidly build inside her. "Bite my neck," she quickly moaned, gasping as she felt his powerful jaws bite down on the base of her neck, his hold probably a bit harder than he expected to. He increased his pace to a frantic jabbing motion as the sensation of his first climax inside a ‘ness rapidly overtook his body.
His groan of ecstasy came out as a muffled growl right behind her ears, as his shaft stiffened and the thrust in as deep as he could one last time. Her body was on fire, as she felt his virgin seed jet out of his tip and squirt into her core. The sudden surge of hot cum inside her caused her passage to contract around his shaft. Feeling the thick and unyielding length throb inside her eroded her self control and, before she knew it, her mouth was open and a jet of flame erupted from her mouth. The sudden heat and oily smell caused Keenis to open his eyes and felt a profane sense of pride as he saw and felt her climax on his smooth shaft. Her flame died as quickly as it came and he gave her a few little throbbing thrusts to empty his internal balls inside her depths. She could feel the throbs of his cock slow and his climax eb, each pulse weaker than the last but she rocked back against him to try and prolong the feeling of hot dragon cum flooding her depths. The green drake’s groan was low and drawn out as her walls milked him for everything he was worth. As his internal balls gave up the last drop of his pent up seed, Keenis devoted long tender licks to the side of her neck and she found herself leaning into his gentle touches..
"Thank-you," she whispered, "I really needed that." She looked back at Keenis, who continued his licks down to her shoulder, eyes closed and trying to concentrate on the sensations that were flooding his body. "Being in heat makes me pretty needy," she said with a smirk.
It took him a moment to compute what she just said and his head snapped up. "Wait! You're in heat?" he exclaimed and quickly pulled out of her, causing her to pout. His thick seed dribbling down her leg as he stumbled back onto all fours, "No-no-no-no, we shouldn't have done that!"
Taalli laid down and watched him fluster for a bit, before putting him out of his misery. "Keenis…" she said softly and waited for him to look at her. "I'm joking," she said with a smile, "Remember, a ‘ness can’t go into heat if she is under too much stress. We are in a warzone."
He paced a few times back and forwards as he remembered his medical training, she was right. Going into heat was a result of many factors being fulfilled, historically it may be a case of a mate providing for the ness, or her moving into a safe cave etc. But in modern day it was more often financial independence and stable living conditions, not something that could be found in a warzone.
"Are you sure?" Keenis asked.
"Yes, stud. It’s ok. No eggs tonight," she said and patted the ground next to her. "Important lesson number two, most Dragonesses like a cuddle afterwards," she said and lifted a wing to invite him. His legs were still a bit wobbly from her joke and their mating and he quickly flopped down next to her. She groomed him gently with her tongue, before snuggling against her new mate. "You did well," she said softly, causing him to smile a little.
"Command to Zulu Actual, come in," The long range radio in Keenis's harness squawked. Both the dragon's heads perked up and looked over to the radios. They were warm and comfortable, but the mission was still standing.
Their captain’s voice came through clearly, "Zulu Actual, go ahead."
"What is the meaning of you all being outside the wire?" the voice from command said sternly.
"Ah, this is a training exercise.," their captain answered, his voice slightly wavering. Taalli's shoulders slightly raised and she blushed a bit.
"And who authorized this training exercise?"
"That would be me, Sir," lied their captain.
"This is unacceptable captain, you know all training must be approved by command," The voice from command barked.
"Sorry Sir, won’t happen again, we will return to base immediately," Their captain said calmly.
"Negative, you are spending the night outside. Report back to base at 0500 for a new mission. How copy?" Command stated.
"Roger, Report 0500. Zulu Actual out," Scarecrow said, "Zulu Actual to Zulu Deltas One and Two, you get that?"
Keenis stood up and made his way to the radio, "Copy sir, want us to come to you?"
"Negative, no need to risk you two nightflying. Rally up at base before 0500, copy?" Scarecrow said.
"Roger, see you back at base," Keenis replied and put the radio on standby.
"So this wasn't a mission?" Keenis said and saw Taalli looking guiltily at him.
She fidgeted with her paws for a while and glanced up at him. "Well, sort of a mission" She saw him staring at him and she lifted a wing to invite him back to her side.
"Did you have something to do with this?" he asked accusingly, as he padded his way back to her side.
"I may have suggested it to the Captain, but are you complaining?" She chuckled, as he pressed himself against her side.
Keenis's paws became wet and he shook his head, his harness had blocked the drain and the kitchen sink was now overflowing onto the floor. He quickly turned off the taps and lifted the sopping harness out, giving it another wring out and carried it in his jaws to the balcony where he hung it up to dry in the night air. With a deep sigh he tried to shake Taalli's smile out of his mind as he stretched back out on the couch. He set an alarm on his tablet for his appointment with Dr. Prin, just in case he fell asleep, and he tried to distract himself with the show on the television, his scales feeling alive at the memories of his former mate.
