This is a compilation of two short series, Infiltratorc and The Wizard's Legacy. Caleb is an adventure of exceptional strength and has the fae-touched gift of an extra third eye. He also has a particular taste in female companions.

Introduction

Not every person who commissions stories from me wants their names made known. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the fact that they trust me to take their ideas and mold them into a story. Back when I was first getting started with commission work, I had a hard time getting my slots filled. I was just starting to worry that I wouldn't find more people when I was approached by an individual.

They were inspired by a one page comic, but wanted to take things in a different direction. I was onboard and started work on what became Infiltratorc. After the three part story reached its conclusion, they approached me again five months later, wanting to start another adventure for Caleb and Maryana. By that time, however, my reputation had grown and my slots started to fill up much faster than before. So, although I started The Wizard's Legacy, it was over a year later before I could finish that part of the adventure.

I look forward to the next installments, whatever and whenever they may be, but in the meantime I wanted to bundle the first two series together and take the opportunity to polish them up a bit more. Whether this is your first time reading or not, I hope you enjoy the story.

Infiltratorc

Chapter 1

There was tension in the war camp as the orc clan made preparations for the next battle. The ringing of hammers from makeshift forges blended in with the sounds of couples in tents making sure the next generation of warriors would be there to replace the inevitable losses. Shel made her way to the edge of her clan's camp. She had been summoned to the shaman's circle, but for what reason only the spirits knew.

Shel was small by orc standards. She was barely six feet tall, truly the runt among her sisters. Shel was just able to carry a deer over her shoulders back to camp. Her green skin bore almost no scars, as she was excluded from fighting due to her small build. Shel's long black hair was tied back with a leather strap to keep it out of her way as she worked, otherwise she just let it hang freely. Two prominent tusks grew out, just enough to touch her upper lip. Her mother always said her perfect female tusks were her best feature.

Shel was dressed as she would be for any average day in the war camp. Her chest was bound tight with wraps to keep her from bouncing and a simple pair of deer hide leggings covered her legs. A set of second hard leather boots her younger brother had just grown out of covered her feet. She had a simple utility knife hung from her belt along with a small pouch with various odds and ends.

Despite her stature, She worked hard to support the warriors of her clan against the cruel humans that sought to wipe them out. There were always things that needed doing, like gathering food, hunting, making and mending clothes, and countless other jobs. Shel did her best to aid her clan. She did wonder, however, what aid she could possibly give the shamans.

Perhaps the Old Ones have heard how good my wild boar stew is and they want me to prepare it for them. She mused as she approached a large tent covered in strange esoteric symbols.

Shum, one of her clan's shamans, was waiting for her by a small fire. He was old, old enough to make Shel's parents look young. He wore scars, not only from the battles he had fought in his youth, but ritual ones granted to him as he learned the way of the spirits. Despite his age and withered muscles he stood tall and straight as Shel approached. He looked down at her, standing well over a head taller than the small orc woman.

“You are shorter than I remembered." he smiled slightly, showing more of his impressive male tusks. “This is good, follow me"

Shel gave a courteous nod and followed. Internally she wondered what could possibly be good about her tiny body. It took her amber eyes a moment to adjust to the dim light inside the tent. The air inside was thick with the scent of incense and burnt herbs. The flickering lamps and candles cast strange shadows on the walls of the tent. Shum took a seat on a hide-covered stone next to the other Old Ones around a small brazier full of glowing red coals. He indicated a space in front of the brazier and Shel simply knelt down in the indicated place.

She sat there, watching the elders as they, in turn, watched her. The silence hung heavy on the young orc woman, but she wasn't about to embarrass herself by talking out of turn with her clan's shamans. After what felt like an eternity, Woglug, the one eyed shaman across from her, finally spoke.

“Welcome, daughter. It is good you came as soon as you were called."

Shell nodded in response.

Gurak, who broke off one of his tusks while fighting a wyvern, spoke next. “We have called you here for something…well, something you are uniquely qualified for."

Is it my stew after all? She wondered.

“No doubt," Ushat, the only female shaman then spoke, “you have wondered why the body the spirits have given you was so lacking."

Shel looked down at the red coals slowly smoldering. She had, often.

“The spirits do not make mistakes," Gurak said in a firm, but caring voice, “it is up to us to find out the reason for ourselves. And the reason for your small frame has become apparent to us."

Shel looked back up from the brazier. Gurak's broken tusk gave the old orc a lopsided grin that she always found comforting in a way. When she was a child she was impressed by the stories of his battles with dangerous beasts, but as a young woman, it was the deep kindness and understanding in the battle-scarred veteran that impressed Shel

Shel's eyes moved from Gurak to the one eyed shaman. “Tell me, please."

The shamans exchanged glances and shared wide smiles.

Caleb was starting to wonder why he had even come to this village. He stood out like a sore thumb, but as one of the feytouched he usually did. Someone in his family's past had either helped or pissed off one of the fae. It was hard at times to tell the difference between curses and boons when it came to the fae folk. Caleb was born with a third eye in the middle of his forehead.

Though it was the same green color as his other two, it did let him see much better in the dark and across long distances. Helpful things in his line of work as an adventure. The rest of his body he had earned through training and combat. He was tall, but not overly so and had a strong build of lean but powerful muscles, but he was even stronger than he looked, a less obvious feature of his heritage. Across most of his body he sported scars from his adventures, though the deepest ones weren't on his flesh.

As the conflict between humans and the so called monstrous races had exploded into full blown war, those who were seen as less than human were becoming less and less popular. Let alone any who sympathized with the other races or felt the war was a foolish thing for humans to have started at all. This didn't surprise Caleb all that much, but he didn't expect such animosity would spill over into his personal life. He was now glaring across the table at his current partner Cassia. It was another one of those mornings the young man had realized before his porridge had even cooled.

“I don't understand why you didn't take the job! It's good money!" She tossed her spoon into the bowl.

“It's blood money." He grumbled back before finishing his now lukewarm tea.

Cassia narrowed her eyes. “You are an adventure, since when does getting bloody bother you? You had no problem taking out that dire wolf last week."

“That was a beast threatening an entire unwalled hamlet." He shook his bald head slowly. “That's different from seeking out and killing people."

“Since when are orcs people?" Cassia stood up from her chair, “And how many people have the orcs killed in this war so far? How are they not a threat to every town?"

Caleb raised an eyebrow. “You mean the war we started?"

She slammed her fists down on the table, making the dishes rattle. “How can you be like this! Everyone is always talking behind your back!"

“Not always, I hear plenty." He pushed back his chair and got up from the table.

Caleb went to his gear and started to gather his equipment for the day.

“And what do you think you're doing?" Cassia followed him to the alcove by the door.

He didn't even bother to look at her. “Going to work."

“What work? You turned down that big job!" She stood there glaring with her hands on her hips.

Caleb shrugged. “I'll find something to do. Even if I only earn a few coppers, that's more than you will get today."

“You gods damn three-eyed bastard!" Cassia shouted.

Caleb glared at her as he strapped on his armored coat. Her eyes went wide, realizing she went too far, but she was too stubborn to actually apologize. He closed his third eye and tied a headband over it as he always did to avoid stares in the village. Caleb picked up his weapon of choice, a heavy two handed blade that not many could even lift, let alone wield, and inspected it quickly before turning to the front door.

“I'm leaving." he said as he opened the door.

“Go ahead and leave! I don't need the pity coppers you'll make shoveling shit all day! The apothecary is always looking for wild herbs and such. I'll make more than you will!

“Good luck with that." Caleb said before slamming the door shut behind him.

“Bastard!" Cassia called after him.

She stomped back to the table and started to angrily clear the dishes from breakfast.

Why did I even invite him into my house? Cassia thought as she washed out the dishes and set them to dry. I knew I shouldn't have trusted a feytouched, practically a monster himself. Just because he's ripped, so strong, and good in bed… she blushed a bit admitting even that to herself. Sure he had a big purse when he rolled into town, now he hardly makes anything taking all those piss-ant cheap jobs. Well, I know my way around herbs. I will buy my own dinner and ale tonight. And I'll still have coins left over in my purse!

Cassia quickly got ready. She put on a rugged pair of leather leggings for walking through brush and undergrowth and laced up her bodice tightly. Cassia pushed her chin length blond hair back with a leather hairband and pulled on a stout pair of boots. She picked up her gathering basket and a pruning hook. Cassia glanced at Caleb's equipment and took a dagger, just in case, and slipped it into her belt. All set, she left, slamming the door shut just as Caleb had.

“The closest human village is heavily fortified." Shum explained. “Stone walls and a heavy gate protect it, and there is an old stone keep in the center that will be just as hard to breach. Taking this village will not be easy."

Shel gave a slight nod. “I've heard my brothers and sisters discussing it, but what help am I? I hardly even know how to throw a punch."

Gurak shook his head. “We have plenty of orcs to fight, what we need is one who can get us information."

Shel furrowed her brow, “I am quiet enough in the woods to not throw off my father while hunting, but I'm hardly an expert in stealth."

“But that is where your size comes into play." Ushat smiled reassuringly at Shel. “Of the entire clan you are the only full-grown orc who could possibly make this plan work."

“You plan to disguise me as a human?" Shel pointed to her chest. “They are fools, but they can recognize green skin when they see it."

“Ha!" Woglug laughed. “True enough, but what we have planned is more than just a disguise. There is a ritual, an ancient and powerful one."

“A ritual?" Shel blinked “Would it turn me into…into one of those pigs?"

“No," Shum said, “well, not exactly. It would allow you to merge with a human. In your case a female one. You would wear her skin like a coat. Her voice would be yours, her memories at your beck and call. You could walk right into the town through the front gate and observe everything from weak points to the number of armed guards protecting the town."

Shock and surprise were evident in Shel's amber eyes. The very idea of it seemed insane, and more than a little disturbing. She looked down at her hands, which were currently gripping her knees tightly. The thought of them not being green was almost nauseating.

“We know this is a great deal to ask of any orc," Ushat said in a soft voice, “but…"

“But, I am the only one the right size," she let out a small sigh, “who isn't a child anyway."

Shel closed her eyes and breathed deeply. She thought of her father, brothers, and sisters. They would be in the coming fight. Anything that would help them come home safe she would do, even if it meant looking like a pig.

“I will do this, for my family and clan. What must I do to make this ritual work?"

Woglug nodded and shared a quick look with the other three shamans. Gurak pulled out a branding iron and placed it into the hot coals, sending up a shower of sparks.

“We will begin the ritual now." Woglug said as he rose to his feet.

Caleb looked at the town notice board. He quickly skimmed over the outstanding bounties. He ignored the ones listed for orcs, ogres, trolls, and the like. Caleb wasn't going to just kill people for the crime of existing. He could hear a few murmurs behind his back as he looked for a job. Caleb sometimes wondered if people assumed that because his vision was enhanced that his ears were lessened somehow.

He sighed, ignoring the comments. Caleb knew it would be a different tune the next time the village was actively threatened and they needed a strong blade. There had been a bit of a bandit problem when he first came to the town. They, however, were actually criminals. And even then, he brought them back alive to face justice when he could. Caleb had managed to get that under control in just a few weeks, and of course the town was happy with him. They were always happy at first when he solved a problem.

It was once the immediate issue was resolved and talk turned to the war that they changed their minds and started to 'notice' his third eye. Caleb wasn't sure if it was growing up as a feytouched and all the mocking and hate that came with that, or just common sense that gave him his view on the state of affairs. Either way. it was an unpopular one to have.

Caleb's eyes instead settled on a job involving an undead infestation in the old graveyard. It was posted by the priest of the local temple. Every adventure deals with the undead now and then, depending on how en vogue necromancy is in a given local. It seemed like an easy enough job for him, and Caleb had no compunctions about putting the dead back into their graves.

A few pieces of silver, and hopefully some good will from the local temple would make it worth Caleb's time. He pulled the parchment with the request down from the notice board and hoisted his heavy blade up onto his shoulder with minimal effort. Caleb ignored the looks of the townsfolk as he made his way towards the town gate. His mind went back to the fight that morning.

This isn't working out, and we both know it. I should just move on, especially before things get any worse around here. I'll let her know I'm moving out tonight. Tomorrow I'll head west, it's been a while since I've seen the ocean. Maybe I'll hire onto a ship and spend some time out at sea. At any rate, the trip out there will do me some good.

Cassia wiped the sweat from her brow and sighed. The sun was high, it must have been close to noon by now. She placed the wormwood root into her basket and stood up slowly, stretching out her back. It had been several hours and her basket was getting fairly full.

I think I've earned a break. She smiled to herself.

She looked around and found a fallen log. Good enough for a seat. She slowly sat down and let out a long sigh. She felt the borrowed dagger digging into her side, so she pulled it out and placed it in the basket with her pruning hook and hand shovel. Cassia pulled cork out of her water skin and started to drink.

As she lounged in the shade enjoying a drink, Cassia had no idea she was being watched. Shel was hidden well behind a bush and watched the human.

That has to be a female, if you can call those tiny things breasts…and I thought I was a runt. She smirked to herself. And the fool is out gathering all alone. I doubt I will find a better opportunity…

Shel was nervous, and she couldn't afford to take deep breaths so close to the human. She closed her eyes and thought about her family. Steeling herself, Shel started to strip out of her clothes. For the ritual to work it could only be her, no clothes, no weapons. First she removed the wraps from her chest. Before seeing the human she had never thought her breasts were all that bountiful, especially compared to her own mother. But now, Shel was thankful to the spirits for what she had. Her boots and leggings followed on the neatly folded pile. She pulled the leather tie out of her hair and ran her fingers through her long raven locks. Shel looked back at the human.

I suppose her hair is her best feature, though it is a little short I don't think I'll mind it too much. The Old Ones were a little vague about what would happen after the mission, I may very well be stuck that way moving forward.

Shel looked down at her green hands again. She wanted to imprint on her mind every last detail of her hands, should she never see them again. After a long sigh, Shel looked back up at her target.

It's far too late to turn back now… She set her square jaw firmly and willed her body to move.

Shel moved slowly, keeping an eye on her target as she moved from cover to cover. Once she was close she placed her hand on the fresh scar branded onto her right shoulder. Shel winced slightly, but pushed through it. She whispered the invocation the shamans had given her. A strange tingle seemed to wash over her body.

Cassia lowered the water skin and wiped her lips with the back of her hand. It was then she noticed just how quiet the forest had grown around her. Before she had a chance to look around, she was attacked from behind. Cassia cried out from reflex alone as she stumbled forward off the log and onto her feet. She looked behind her and screamed loudly as she saw the naked orc glaring at her.

Shel felt a shock as her hands hit the bare skin the tunic left exposed near the shoulders. From the way the human jumped, she had felt it too. As the orc watched her hands started to slip into the human's body.

“What are you doing! You filthy green beast!" Cassia screamed, having no idea what was happening to her body.

The scared woman's eyes went to the dagger, now laying on the ground. She tried to reach for it, but was stopped as the orc's arm slid inside of hers. To Shel, it almost felt like slipping her arm into a sleeve. The pink soft skin bubbled and expanded as the bulk of the orc's arm caused it to swell. The sleeve of the tunic stretched and tore as Cassia watched. Thick, sculpted muscles bulged out from her once delicate arms. She wanted to scream but what came out felt more like a moan. It somehow felt so good as her arm swelled with strength. Cassia could still feel her arm, but couldn't so much as wiggle her now larger fingers. She felt the orc making a fist, as if inspecting the feel of a new glove. Cassia tried to pull away, feeling betrayed by her own body. It was then that Shel repeated the process with the other arm.

“P-please…stop…" Cassia moaned as her other arm bulged and swelled with powerful muscles. “Just kill me! Don't…" Cassia begged in a whisper.

For the first time in her short life, Shel felt a tinge of pity for a human. But, there was no stopping the ritual and the success of her clan was more important than even her life, let alone that of the enemy. The orc woman set her square jaw firm and pulled the human up against her chest.

Cassia moaned as her chest started to expand. She cried out like a bitch in heat as the incredible sensation radiated throughout her chest and breasts. Cassia's tunic filled to bursting as the orc's pushed in. She looked down at the now massive bust spilling out over her bodice. Cassia had always wished for a more impressive bosom, but this is not how she wanted it to happen.

Shel grabbed the woman's hips with what were now essentially her hands and started to push her legs into her. Cassia moaned some incomprehensible gibberish as not only as her thighs and calves tore through her leggings, but as her sex practically exploded with an orgasm. She was panting, confused, scared, and over sensitized. Cassia didn't even realize she was standing taller, now that her legs had stretched longer. She looked down and felt the orc wiggling her toes through the blown out boots. For some reason, that was all she could focus on.

“Those were my favorite boots…" she panted. “You ruined them…"

Even with her body in a wash of sensual euphoria, Cassia started to sob. Her once small and fit body was now huge and brutish. Worse than that, although she could feel every inch of her expanded body, Cassia couldn't so much as lift a finger.

“This…this can't be happening…must be dreaming…Why can't I wake up?"

“It will be over soon." She heard Shel whisper softly before starting to press her face into the back of her head..

Cassia's blue eyes went wide and her mouth was open in shock as she felt the orc enter her head and her mind. Her tongue hung out from her open mouth as her vision went white. Cassia let out a cry as her entire body tensed and she closed her eyes tight. The world fell away from her, as if she was floating in a void for a moment. The darkness of the void ended as her eyes opened once more.

Shel moaned, feeling the aftermath of what the human had gone through in the ritual. She blinked several times before looking down at her new form. Shel did indeed look like a human, mostly. In truth, even with her limited experience with humans, she had to be larger than average, and most of the humans she had seen were warriors to boot. Still, she had the skin, and running her tongue over her teeth she confirmed there were no tusks. The brand was still on her right shoulder, though it looked as though it was fully healed and no longer hurt when she touched it.

Shel sighed and walked back to where she had left her things. The clothing that clung to her body was near useless now, and she would attract enough attention as it was. She pulled off the torn clothes with little concern. The bodice, however, had survived, just the cords that held it closed had snapped in several places. Shel started to redress herself in her old clothes. As she was rebinding her chest Shel heard a small voice in the back of her head.

What have you done to me you ugly green-skinned bitch!

Shel was surprised and fumbled with her wraps. The Old Ones had not mentioned anything about this.

What's the matter? The human's voice angrily echoed in her mind, sounding much louder now. Are you too gods damned stupid to talk?

Shel narrowed her eyes at that insult. She could accept she was small and didn't have the strength of her sisters, that was a fact. But her mind was as sharp as her knife.

So, you are still in there, you ugly pig. Shel tried to direct the thought at the voice.

I was beautiful, until you made me look like some kind of abomination! Give me back my body! Now!" along with the anger there was a desperateness in the voice.

It's my body now, and believe me, I'd rather be a healthy green than walking around looking like a two legged pig! Shel returned to binding her chest and tied off her wraps.

I don't know for what sick and twisted reason you stole my body, but it will never work!

Enemy or not, Shel felt what remained of the human deserved the truth. It wasn't as if she could tell anyone of the plan anyway.

The reason is simple enough. Shel thought as she knotted the busted cord of the bodice back together. It's a disguise to allow me to walk right through your town gate and gather all the information I can to aid my clan when the time comes to attack it.

What? Cassia's voice almost vibrated inside of her skull. No! I won't allow you savages to use my body to betray my home!

And what say have I given you so far today, monster?

Did…did you just call me a monster? Shel could almost feel the voice blinking in disbelief. You body-thieving wench!

Your kind are the ones that attracted mine first! Slaughtering entire clans down to the last child for the crime of just existing! Or, perhaps it was the lands we roamed on that you couldn't bear to see not under the control of your so called nobles.

Y-you…you…

Shel smiled slightly at the voice's frustrated stuttering. She tightened the repaired bodice into place. Shel rather liked the way it felt hugging her sides, even if it was technically too small for her. Shel dug a shallow trench in the ground and buried the shredded clothing. She wanted no evidence that something had happened to the woman in the forest.

That done, she went back to the log and gathered the items scattered on the ground. Shel inspected the dagger. It was a fine weapon and she slipped it in her belt.

That's not yours either, you thief. The voice chastised

It wasn't yours to begin with, thief. Shel thought back

What? How…

I have your memories. I know it's your lover's blade. I know the fight you had with him this morning. And to be honest, he's too good for you. Shel slipped her old knife into her boot just in case.

Wha…what would you know about it?

I know he has enough of a soul to be troubled by the war. And he is far too good looking and strong, even with his third eye, to be sharing furs with your skinny ass. Shel smirked as she pulled the hairband out of her now long blond hair and tied it back into a ponytail.

They won't believe that you're me, they will stop you and have you in the stocks in a heartbeat.

I won't pretend to be Cassia, the bitch. I'll just be an adventurer. I should pass for big and strong so I doubt they wouldn't believe it. She bent over and picked up the basket of gathered plants.

I never told you my name! That's not fair you…orc!

That's not even an insult, and I know your grandmother's name for spirits' sake. Not that it matters, but my name is Shel. Of course, I can't use that. A guard or an adventurer might realize it's orcish. Actually, thinking about it, I like the sound of your grandmother's name, Meryl, that can be my human name.

How dare you sully my grandmother's name!

Shel rolled her eyes. I chose it out of respect, but if you insist…Hmm, the orcish word for secrets is yandana, if I blend that with Meryl I get Maryana. Happy now?

Hardly! Cassia snapped back inside her head. You won't get away with this! They will see through you! Humans are too smart to fall for your evil schemes!

Shel laughed out loud. If they did, they would just kill us both. But you are overestimating the fools that live in your village.

Just you wait! I will kick you out of my body and then I will run you right through your black heart!

Shel sighed deeply. “I wonder if some strong drinks will shut her up."

She started back down the hunters trail heading towards the village. All the while Cassia ranted and raved in her head. Shel just narrowed her eyes and focused on the path trying to tune the voice in her head out.

Chapter 2

As Shel saw the stone walls of the town rising over the horizon she felt a certain amount of apprehension. Was she really going to just walk right through the town gates, or was the voice of Cassia correct and they would see right through her? Without realizing it, she slowed her pace. It did not go unnoticed, however.

Having some second thoughts? Cassia said in a mocking tone.

No.

Liar.

Second thoughts didn't matter, Shel had a job to do. She rolled her shoulders and took a deep breath before walking up to the gates in what she hoped was a normal manner. The gate guard watched as the amazon-like woman approached. Gripping the haft of his spear tightly he managed to find his voice by the time she was standing in front of him.

“Good day…ma'am. What business do you have in Farkeep?"

“Oh, uh, I'm just an adventurer looking for work. As you can see, I could use a bit of coin."

The guard blinked. There was something strangely familiar about the woman's voice, and her face, he could swore he'd seen it before. But he would remember anyone with a build like that, man or woman.

“And your name, Ma'am?"

“Maryanna." she said, giving what she hoped passed as a polite smile.

“Maryanna, you seem familiar somehow. Is this your first time visiting Farkeep?"

“I get that a lot, I just have one of those faces. Tell me, do you have an apothecary in town? I have some herbs and roots they may be interested in."

“Oh, yes, ah, it's right down the main road, just past the fountain."

“Thank you." she started to walk past the guard. “Good day."

“Ah, thanks, and, um, welcome to Farkeep…"

Shel let out a long sigh once she was out of earshot.

Craig! You damn idiot! How could you let her in? Cassia screamed in her mind.

Shel couldn't help but smile at her frustration. I told you you overestimated your people.

Craig's always been an idiot, he doesn't count.

Shel rolled her eyes as she walked down the main road of the town. She drew a few looks from the townsfolk, but none spoke or even approached her. Shel stopped at the fountain for a drink. The cool water felt good as she gulped it down. It was as much to calm her nerves as it was for her parched mouth. She saw the sign of the apothecary catching the light of the late afternoon sun. Shel had to duck slightly to enter the low door to the shop. The smell reminded her of the shaman's tent back at her camp.

“Just a moment, I was about to close up for…" an old man came out from behind a curtain and stopped in his tracks. “Oh my, ah, hello there."

“Hello. I heard around town that you are willing to pay for medicinal herbs, is that true?"

“Uh, yes, yes of course." He moved over to a counter with a scale set up on it. “I'm getting a little too old to be running around the woods collecting them myself these days. Why don't you show me what you have?"

Shel placed the basket on the counter and the old man started to sort through the plants and weigh them on the scale.

“Are you by any chance related to Cassia? She lives here in town and between your voice and face there is a strong family resemblance."

“I'm sorry, I don't know anyone by that name." Shel said with a shrug.

You bitch…

“It's uncanny, though you are a lot more…endowed than she is."

Dirty old man…I'll remember that one!

Shel smiled at both comments, but said nothing.

“You strike me as an adventurer, would you prefer payment in coins or some of my medicines? They can be quite useful in a dangerous world."

“Unfortunately my coin purse is quite empty right now, so…"

“Ah, it's always feast or famine in your line of work, isn't it?" He started to count out coins on the counter. “After a good meal and a night's rest you should check out the job board. There's always something that needs doing."

“Thank you, I'll probably give it a look tomorrow." She said as she scooped up the coins into her pouch. “Where's a good place to get a meal and a few drinks around here?"

“There's a few places, but I'd recommend the Lucky Star Pub. Darla makes a great stew, and they don't water down the drinks either." He replied with a wink. “Take the East Road down about two blocks, you can't miss it."

“Thank you, and have a good evening." She gave a polite nod and exited the shop.

Shel was feeling more confident about her mission. Humans were the type to judge by the surface and as large as she was, relative to them, she looked human. And as long as she watched her tongue she should have no problems apart from a few stares.

I can't believe that old fool didn't figure out you hijacked my body!

Shel paused and turned towards a shop window. It wasn't a perfect mirror, but her reflection was good enough.

Take a good look, would you 'figure it out', as you put it?

Cassia was quiet as she got a good look at how she looked now. She could see her features still, her nose, ears, shape of her jaw, but the old man had been right, she did look more like a relation than anything else. She then noticed her eyes. The bright blue eyes that had always stared back at her were now a bright amber.

Those…those are your eyes, aren't they?

Yes. Perhaps you can learn something by seeing the world through them for a change.

Bitch, when I get my body back, my eyes better change back too!

Shel turned and continued to make her way to the Shooting Star Pub. As the apothecary has said, she couldn't miss it. The large sign with a stylized shooting star was visible from a block away.

Gods, why are you going to this one? The Peregrine has music every night! You are just like Caleb and the other gloomy people who hang out here

I'll count that as another recommendation. Shel walked through the open door and into the common room. As long as the ale flows and the stew is hot it will serve me.

Eeew! I hate ale!

I know, Shel looked around and spotted a small empty table in a corner and claimed it for herself, that's why I'm going to drink it.

I hate you so much!

A barmaid came and took her order for a quart of strong ale and a bowl of stew. She tried to casually take in the surroundings. The building wasn't new, that much was obvious. The smell of stale ale and pipeweed permeated the entire structure. Patrons were starting to file in as their work days came to an end. Although she caught the glances from people as they entered, they quickly turned their attention elsewhere.

Shel noticed a few walking in with armor and weapons. She guessed they must be either caravan guards or adventures. Shel figured it would be important to figure out which ones were working out of Farkeep and which were just passing through. Shel's food arrived. She began first by taking a deep drink from the earthenware mug. It was fine by her standards, and refreshing after her day. She was hopeful it would help at least drown out Cassia.

What the hell? I thought you ordered ale?

I did.

But it tasted wrong. It tasted…good?

It was alright, I've had worse and better.

Bullshit! I hate ale! And this shithole can't be serving the supposed good stuff!

Shel sighed and tore off a piece of bread and dipped it into her stew. Only you could complain about enjoying a drink.

Shut up and just get drunk already! This is the worst day of my life and I'd rather not be sober!

Finally, we agree on something.

Caleb stopped at a stream on the way back to Farkeep. Experience had taught him it was better to be at least presentable when collecting his reward. Caleb left the captured necromancer tied to a tree bound and gagged. He used an old rag and water from the stream to wash off the decaying flesh that was spattered and stuck to his armored coat. It would still need more detailed attention, but that was something he could worry about after he collected his reward. With the worst of it cleaned off, Caleb put his armor back on and collected his things.

The captured necromancer glared at him as Caleb untied him from the tree. The adventurer pulled the rope like a leash and dragged his prisoner with him back to the temple in Farkeep. He was stopped briefly at the gate as he explained his prisoner. Caleb was known for bringing back prisoners when possible, so the guard gave him little trouble. The priest at the temple was pleased to not only have the undead infestation taken care of, but to have the man responsible for it captured.

Caleb left with not only the promised payment, but a reasonable bonus. The extra coin would come in handy for his planned trip to the West. He made his way from the temple to the town's fountain. The sun was getting low, but Caleb didn't want to head home. It wasn't really his home anymore. He would still need to break it off officially with Cassia and collect all his things, but right now he just wanted a quiet meal and a drink.

I guess I'll head to the Shooting Star then, Caleb hoisted his sword back up on his shoulder and headed down the East Road, she hates that place. It's her loss though, they make a great stew.

He walked through the open door of the pub and leaned his sword up against the wall where other people's gear had been stashed. Caleb stood at the bar and ordered his ale. The barman served him without comment or even a smile. Caleb was quite sure his welcome was worn out in Farkeep if a barman won't even offer a fake smile with his ale.

***

Shel enjoyed her supper and was leaning back slightly against the wall with her second quart of ale. She just wished her meal had been with better company. The common room of the pub had filled greatly and the steady hum of people talking filled her ears. She did her best to observe the humans without staring or otherwise being too obvious.

“Hey, who is that?"

Something about the tone of voice made it stand out from the buzz of the common room. Shel just knew whoever it was was talking about her.

“I don't know, I'd remember a girl who was that, uh, big."

She scanned the room while pretending to drink her ale. She spotted a trio of men sharing a table nearby. They didn't look like travelers or guards, she assumed they must just be locals. There was an aura of smoke hanging around them as they had been passing a pipe around as they drank.

Looks like you're finally spotted! Cassia giggled inside her head. Lets see you talk your way out of this one, bitch!

The three men got to their feet and approached Shel at her table.

“Hello there, little lady." The first one spoke in an obviously sarcastic tone. “We were just noticing you over here and thought we should introduce ourselves. The name is Einhard, this is Guido," he indicated with his head to the one on his right, “and his brother Longo." he tilted his head to the left.

Never thought I'd be glad to see his scruffy face. Cassia was obviously enjoying this.

Shel locked eyes with Einhard “I thank you for your welcome."

Her tone made it clear she did not wish for further conversation. That mattered little to Einhard and his friends.

“And you are?" Einhard 's friends chuckled slightly as he asked.

“Maryanna." she replied before lifting her mug to her lips for a drink.

You better enjoy that drink, It'll be your last one. Cassia mocked Shel from inside her head.

“Maryanna, that's a name I haven't heard before." Einhard made a show of rubbing the stubble on his chin. “Tell me, are you an adventurer?"

Shel placed her mug on the table. “What answer will make you three leave me to drink in peace?"

The three men laughed. Shel glanced around, the commotion was starting to attract the attention of the other patrons. It looked like many more of them were curious about her, they just didn't have the nerve to bother her like this trio of fools..

“Hey," Longo pointed to the brand on her shoulder, “What the hell is that thing?"

Shel could feel more eyes turning towards her as the common room started to get quieter. She hadn't thought to hide the brand on her shoulder. In fact Shel was rather proud to have earned a scar after all her years of relative safety in her clan's camp. Now she was wishing she had been a little less prideful and a bit more discreet about it.

“And look at her eyes, never seen anyone with yellow eyes before!" Guido chimed in. “Who wasn't green anyway!"

“Come on now," Einhard shook his head, “ that's nothing, what about that adventurer with three eyes? But that mark on her arm, that does look a little strange. Where did you get it from, Maryanna?"

That comment got Caleb's attention at the bar and he started to pay attention.

“Just a memento from my adventures. Scars are a part of the job, you see."

“That isn't just a scar," Longo insisted, “look at that thing! It's like…some kinda symbol."

“I've heard stories from some of the traders. Stories of orcs stealing women and forcing them to breed with them." Einhard said, leaning in closer as if to inspect the woman for any trace of green skin.

Shel's eyes narrowed and she clenched her fists tightly. She was furious at the accusation made about her people while they had no compunctions about their own cruelty.

Well, I do have more than a little orc in me right now. Cassia laughed with amusement at her own joke.

Quiet, pig! If I die, so do you! Shel thought back at the voice.

“Looks like you hit a nerve." Guido let out a short laugh, “I bet that's where she got those evil looking yellow eyes from."

“So tell us, Maryanna," the smile melted off his face as he continued, “just what is a half breed like you doing in our pub?" Einhard glared as he pointed at her.

Shel let her hand slip down to the dagger in her belt. Even if her cover was blown, she wasn't going to go down without a fight.

“You know, it's rude to point." Caleb said from behind the trio. They quickly turned to stare at the adventurer.

“Oh, it's you," Einhard glared, “I bet you're here to protect this half breed, you orc lover!"

“There's no such thing as half-orcs, you idiot. Yeah she's big and strong, so? That's probably why she became an adventurer. Look at me," Caleb patted his chest, “do I look frail to you?"

“But…what about that symbol burned on her shoulder?" Longo said, pointing at the brand.

“That? I've been around, unlike you. Some bandits out there like to claim prisoners as their property and they brand them like cattle. Just because you've lived a safe and sheltered life doesn't mean the rest of us have too."

“What about her eyes?" Guido chimed in weakly.

Caleb pulled off his headband and stared at him with all three of his eyes. “What about them?"

The other patrons in the pub turned back to their drinks and soon the normal buzz of the common room returned. The trio stalked back to their table and were soon repacking the pipe and passing it around. They shot dirty looks back at Caleb and Shel and mumbled what they assumed were curses at them.

Caleb! You bastard, save me not her gods damn it!

“Thank you." Shel said softly, looking down at the table.

Caleb pulled out the other chair and sat down. They quietly watched each other, a pair of amber eyes and a trio of green. As noisy as the common room of the pub was, the silence at the table was heavy.

“I know there is something going on with you, but I didn't want that triad of idiots to start something. I'd rather be civil."

“I thought you didn't believe in half-orcs."

“I don't. But I know that brand is orcish, and amber is the most common eye color among orcs. I also know Cassia's voice, and the freckle she has just above her lip."

I can't believe he noticed that… Cassia said, sounding a little shocked.

Shel touched her face where she knew the freckle was.

“Something happened in the woods today, but I don't wish to make a scene."

Shel narrowed her eyes slightly. “I can't let you take me in."

“I didn't say I was going to. I want to talk, somewhere private. I will not harm you unless it's to defend myself."

Do you trust him? Shel asked the voice.

Now you want my opinion? Cassia was quiet for a moment. He has his problems, but lying isn't one of them. And right now he's the only chance I have at getting you out of me. But hey, you have my memories, why even bother to ask?

I don't know… she took a deep breath. “Where do you have in mind for this talk?"

“Our place. I think it is where we were both going to end up eventually tonight anyway."

Shel nodded before finishing off her ale. She wiped her lips with the back of her hand and stood up.

“Let's go then."

Caleb nodded and left a few coins on the table for the tab. Although the room didn't go silent like it had before, many sets of eyes watched the pair leave. At the bar a few of the townsfolk commented on it as they walked out from the pub.

“Hey, I thought three-eyes was shacking up with Cassia." the first one said

“I heard they were fighting," the second one shrugged, “maybe they finally broke up?"

The third one burped after taking a big swig of ale. “Eh, who cares. Just let the freaks have each other, it's better that way."

The other two offered murmurs of agreement before moving onto other conversations.

***

The sun was just setting behind the horizon, lighting up the western sky a brilliant fiery orange. The light was dimming, but still more than enough for the pair to feel safe walking to the lower quarter where Cassia's home was. The streets were full as people made their way to either their homes or to their pub of choice. Most were too preoccupied to spare Caleb and Shel more than a passing glance.

The stars were just starting to appear in the sky when they reached the heavy wooden door. Inside the home was dark, but to both of their eyes it was of little consequence. Still, Shel lit a lamp from the smoldering remains of the banked kitchen fire. She was unsure what would happen. This was not just some random human. He was an adventurer, and he moved with that oversize sword like it was a dagger. She pulled out a chair and sat at the table, waiting and watching Caleb.

Caleb had remained silent the entire trip home. He removed his armor and gear, leaving him in just a simple tunic, leggings, and boots. Caleb was watching what he could only guess used to be Cassia. He was surprised by his own calm in this situation. True, he was going to leave her, but he wished Cassia no harm. Caleb ran his hand slowly over his bald head as he walked to the table. He pulled out the other chair and sat opposite the woman.

“Let's start at the beginning," he folded his hands on the tabletop, “who are you?"

Shel glanced away for a moment before answering. “My name is Maryanna."

“No," Caleb leaned forward slightly, “what's your real name?"

In her hesitation Cassia spoke up in her mind. He already knows you're an orc, you know.

“Shel." She said softly, looking down at the table.

“And you've done something to Cassia?"

She nodded slowly “Yes."

He was quiet for a moment before asking his next question. “Where is she?"

“She is here," Shel tapped her chest. “I merged with her body so I could pass as a human. I didn't expect, however, for her voice to still be in here." she touched the side of her head."

“So she's not gone forever then?"

“I…I don't know." he could see the unease in the woman as she answered. “The Old Ones were vague about what would happen after my mission. Perhaps even they don't know. They didn't say anything about her voice in my head, or that I would be so…"

“Big?" he offered.

“Heh, from a human standpoint, yes. From my own point of view," Shel shrugged, “I'm still the same small female I've always been."

Caleb let out a small sigh. “Small and weak are not the same thing."

Shel's eyes snapped back to his, caught off guard by this comment.

“It's true." He continued, “I don't doubt there are stronger orcs in your clan, but that doesn't make you weak. I'm certain that if you punched me, I'd feel more than a little pain.

“Perhaps," she couldn't help smiling a little, “but I still don't like my chances with you in a fight."

Caleb chuckled softly. Then his smile faded as a question brewed in his mind. “Can Cassia hear me in there?"

She nodded. “Yes."

He let out a long sigh, “There is something I was going to tell her before any of this happened. Cassia, before I say it, I want you to know I made the decision before I even walked out the gates today. I think we both know this relationship wasn't working out. This morning was just another argument in a string of fights we've been having for the past week."

You're breaking up with me? Seriously? This day just keeps getting better and better!

Shel could feel the heartbreak through the anger and sarcasm. She herself had felt this pain more than once in her short life.

“Here I thought you had a heart." Shel glared at him across the table.

Cassia was shocked. Are…are you standing up for me?

“Her blind hatred of orcs and others is one of the reasons I can't stay with her." He met her glare. “And I don't think she'd want to leave home to follow me on the road."

“Still, you-"

Shel, let it go. He was a good lay, but I wasn't about to run to the temple to get hitched to him. He's still a jerk for dumping this on me like this…but it's not your business. But, for what it's worth, thanks.

“She says you're a jerk."

“Fair enough. I'll be leaving in the morning, I'm heading west towards the ocean. Whatever your clan is preparing for, I won't be around to interfere with it."

She leaned forward a bit towards him. “Abandoning your people too then?"

“These aren't my people." Caleb shook his head slowly, “If they want this war, they can deal with it. They can't pay me enough to stay and fight it for them."

Shel raised an eyebrow. “Is it because you are feytouched?"

“It's because it's wrong." He ran his hand over his head. “Yes, I've had my own share of hate over the years, but that doesn't factor into my decision."

“Among my kind, your abilities are seen as a gift from the spirits. Something to strengthen a clan. If you were an orc you would have your choice among the women. They would probably get into brawls over the chance to bear your children." She blushed slightly after realizing what she just said.

Caleb blinked at what she said but then with a sad smile shook his head. “Humans are a great deal more narrow minded, as you know all too well."

Shel looked down at her hands. “No race is perfect." she sighed, “You may think I'm big and strong, you might even think that if I was wearing my own skin. Although I'm treated well by my clan and loved by my family I'll never find a mate. I've barely managed to find a partner for the night, and even then they are usually drunk. I find myself slightly jealous of Cassia in that regard."

I'm…not sure how to take that. Cassia said in an unsure voice.

I mean no offense by it. Shel responded, though she was trying to stay focused on Caleb right now.

“She is a pretty girl, and pleasant when she's not, well…you know. A lot of men find that enough."

I knew he wasn't fully into me…I shouldn't be so surprised. Cassia's voice sounded almost accepting of the truth about their relationship.

Shel tilted her head to the side slightly. “But not you?"

He scratched the back of his head. “It's difficult to fully explain. Just as many men as women would judge me for it."

Shel was intrigued by this, she felt a certain vulnerability from Caleb just for admitting that much.

“More than they would judge you for your eye?" she asked, tapping her forehead.

“In some ways, yes. Even people who accept the feytouched would raise an eyebrow at it."

“You haven't harshly judged me, go on and tell me."

Caleb sighed and shrugged his shoulders. “When I was young growing up in a village far from here, the blacksmith had a daughter. Her mother had died young so she was practically raised in the forge by her father. She wasn't as tall as you, but she had such a powerful body, at least by the time I started to notice women. I would sometimes secretly watch her while she worked in the forge with her father. They way her muscles would move as she pounded the red hot steel…" Shel could see he was remembering the past fondly as his three eyes drifted up to the ceiling. “I got into more than one fight as a youth over insults the other boys would toss her way."

Shel pondered the story for a moment before responding. “Did you ever approach her?"

“Yes, I asked her to the harvest dance when I was thirteen." He sighed.

“She rejected you for being feytouched?"

“No," Caleb quickly shook his head, “she was never like that. She just…wasn't into male companionship."

Shel felt her cheeks blush. “Oh…"

“Yeah," he sighed, “I left home soon after that, but I never could find another woman quite like that. There were women who could look past this," he pointed to his third eye, “I'll give Cassia credit for that. I had plenty of fun over the years, but I couldn't find what I was really looking for."

Oh gods! Does he like the way I look now? Better than I did before?

Shell drummed her fingers on the table. “Maybe you were meant to be born as an orc."

“Maybe" he sighed softly. “From what I have seen of your people, there is a lot to admire physically. The strength and power you have is very alluring, even in Cassia's body." he smiled slightly as his eyes scanned her form in the lamplight. “But I suppose I would be too small and weak if I was an orc, right?"

“Small, yes, weak?" she glanced at his massive sword resting in the alcove by the door, “I don't think so. I have no doubt that even our strongest warriors would have some difficulty with you in a wrestling match."

And just what kind of wrestling are you thinking of? Shel could hear the smirk in Cassia's tone.

Caleb chuckled softly, “I did say something like that to you, after all."

“What about female adventurers? They must be stronger than the average woman."

“A bit, yes. But most don't have anything close to your build. That and, well…my relationships I've tried with fellow adventures so far have ended quickly and messy."

Shel blushed slightly again. “You keep talking about my looks, but yours are nothing to be ashamed of. Those scars on your arms mark just how hard the world tried to kill you and failed. That is considered very attractive where I come from.

He smiled softly. “If I was an orc that would be another point in my favor."

She looked up, her amber eyes almost glowing in the lamplight. “If you were an orc, even a small orc, maybe we could have been something."

“Maybe, but these were the lives we were given. We just have to do the best we can, right?" There was a hopeful look in his three eyes.

“The best we can…" They sat there in the warm light of the lamp before Shel spoke again. “Do you still plan to leave in the morning?"

“Yes." he nodded. “Will you try and stop me?"

“No, I believe you will just walk away." Shel reached across the table and placed her hand on his. “But before you go, would you…would you like someone to keep your bed warm for the night?"

Caleb looked down to her hand then up to meet her eyes. “Yes," he took her hand into his own and squeezed it tightly. “I would."

What the? Ah hell…might as well enjoy the bastard one last time. Go ahead and bang his brains out.

Caleb stood up from the table and placed his hand on Shel's cheek as he leaned down to kiss her softly on the lips. She closed her eyes and placed her hand on the smooth back of his head and pulled him in for a deep and powerful kiss. Caleb responded immediately, moaning as he deepened the kiss and pulled Shel right out of her chair.

Immediately she wrapped her arms around him, squeezing tightly. His arms went low, grabbing her tightly by the waist. Shel's strong hands kneaded the muscles of his shoulders and back, while Caleb's hands squeezed her firm rear tightly. They broke the kiss, panting and needy for more. Shel pulled him to the bed by his hand, not that Caleb needed any encouragement.

Caleb managed to sit down and pull off his boots before Shel nearly jumped on top of him, pushing him deep into the mattress and making the bed creak loudly. Caleb was surprised , but his mouth quickly found hers and their kissing resumed. As their tongues danced together, his fingers worked madly at the lacing on her bodice. At the same time Shel was pulling his tunic up by the hem. She broke the kiss to whip it up over his head and toss it aside.

She smiled as she ran her hands over his chiseled chest, admiring the scars he sported. Caleb pulled the bodice aside and moved to the wraps binding her chest. Shel let out a soft sigh as her breasts were freed. He lifted her breasts up slightly, as if he were appreciating the weight be for leaning up to place a nipple in his mouth.

Shel arched her back and moaned loudly as she felt his teeth nip her gently. As good as that felt, she wasn't in the mood to be teased. She pulled away and slid down Caleb's body. It was all she could do to unlace his leggings instead of just bursting the leather cords. Her eyes widened happily as she freed the bulging cock from his leggings.

Caleb let out a shuddering moan as she gripped the shaft in her hands and pumped it slowly, squeezing out a dribble of pre from the tip that Shel quickly lapped up with her tongue before lowering her hot mouth over his shaft. Caleb moaned and gripped her firmly by the sides of her head as she bobbed up and down on his cock.

All the while, Shel was fumbling with her leggings. She managed to push them down just enough to get her hand to her needy slit. Caleb sat up and pushed her leggings down past her thighs and ran his hands roughly over her sculpted rear and thighs. His hands felt so good as they kneaded and caressed her firm thighs and butt. This was more than enough foreplay for the orc in human clothing.

Shel pulled up off the now spit slicked cock and slipped her hands down on Caleb's shoulders before roughly shoving him back down onto the bed. Caleb let out a puff of air as the bed offered further protests. Shell pushed her leggings down to her boots then straddled his legs. Holding him down with one hand on his chest she guided his cock right into her dripping slit and dropped down, impaling herself on the shaft.

Their cries mingled as she took him to the hilt. For a moment they locked eyes in the dim light of the bedroom. Shel's hands rested on his chest while his hands gripped her tightly at the waist. She let out a grunt before starting to move. Her nails dug into his chest as Shel closed her eyes. Three thrusts in and she already knew it was the best she ever had. Caleb pulled her down by the waist with each downward plunge. He couldn't take his eyes off the beautiful amazonian goddess that was riding him. Caleb wanted to memorize every flex of her muscles as she moved. He was thrusting up with his hips to meet her now.

Their cries filled the small bedroom like it had never been before. Shel arched her back and let out what could only be called a roar as the dam broke. Her thighs squeezed tightly around Caleb as his moans soon joined hers. Shel almost whimpered as the aftershocks convulsed through her body. She leaned down and smashed her lips against Caleb. They kissed and moaned as they basked in the afterglow.

Caleb eventually rolled her to the side and continued to kiss and nuzzle her cheeks and neck. Shel smiled softly as she worked to kick off her boots and shimmy out of her leggings. They intertwined legs, pulling each other tightly together with their combined strength.

Damn…I never… Cassia trailed off, but Shel got the impression she was just as pleased as she was.

“Thank you…" Shel whispered softly into his ear.

Caleb smiled in the dim light. “You're talking like we're done for the night…"

With that he rolled over on top of her and pressed his lips tightly against hers. Shel almost squealed as she wrapped her arms and legs around him. The night was still early, and there was enough time to sleep later.

Chapter 3

Shel had passed out sometime in the night curled up against Caleb. She was completely drained from their repeated escapades and was sleeping soundly with a smile on her lips. Caleb was much the same, having fallen asleep soon after his companion. Through the remainder of the night and the early morning they slept soundly. It was eventually the sounds of the surrounding town starting their day that eventually roused Shel.

She slowly opened her eyes to see Caleb laying beside her and she couldn't help but smile softly. Shel watched him as he slept, counting the seconds between each slow breath. She wanted to remember every moment of this short time before destiny pulled them apart.

Even just sleeping, he is sexy as hell, isn't he? Cassia said softly in her head.

Yes, he is. Shel agreed

You know…I could never get out of him what you did last night. But I feel far more thankful than jealous. Hell, given your skills I don't know why the orc boys weren't lining up for your tent.

Shel sighed. It's complicated, you wouldn't understand.

I understand better than you think. Shel could feel something different in Cassia's words this morning. While you slept last night, your memories opened to me. All of them.

Shel blinked. She hadn't thought something like that would happen. Then again, how much had actually gone according to plan since she merged with Cassia?

Seeing things, feeling things from the other side…There was nothing you, Caleb, or anyone else could have said to make me see things differently. A night spent in your life though…I'm sorry, Shel…for everything.

Shel took a deep breath and let it out slowly. I think it may be a little late for that.

Then you know it too. We are stuck like this, aren't we?

Shel lowered her head. I think so.

So the gods seem fit to punish us both, me without my own body, and you stuck looking like a human. Cassia let out a long sigh. Shel, we can't go on like this, two minds in one body. One of us will go mad and drag the other one with them.

Shel set her jaw firmly. I still have my mission to accomplish, I can worry about the cost later.

I'm not going to try and stop you, not anymore, I just…

Hold on! He's waking…

Caleb's three eyes fluttered open to see Shel pushed up with her arms looking down at him. He smiled softly before reaching up to touch her cheek. She smiled and closed her eyes, leaning into the touch.

“Good morning." He said softly.

Shel leaned down and kissed him softly on the lips. “Now it's a good morning." She replied softly.

Caleb chuckled and kissed her back. “If this keeps up, we'll never get out of bed."

“I don't think that would be an entirely bad thing."

“Not entirely."

After one more long kiss Caleb sat up to get out of bed. Once again, Shel's eyes were attracted to the scars on his body, wondering what the story was for each one. She watched intently as Caleb got out of bed and started to dress.

“What are you doing?" He asked as he pulled on his leggings.

“I just want to memorize you completely." She smiled from the bed.

Caleb chuckled as he laced up his leggings. Shel couldn't lay in the bed all morning and got up herself. She got dressed as well, but slowly, wanting to drag out the morning as much as she could. Caleb was in no rush either to leave the home, at least not now. He slowly gathered his equipment, clothing and supplies from where they were scattered through the house. Shel made breakfast for them both, it was no different than back in her camp where she would cook for her family. Cassia offered a few bits of advice on cooking as she prepared the porridge, but was otherwise just as quiet as Shel and Caleb.

Shel looked over across the table at Caleb. “Are you leaving after breakfast?"

He swallowed a mouthful of porridge before replying. “I will stop on my way out of town for a few more supplies, but yes."

“Couldn't you wait a day or two? I will be here at least that long."

Caleb slowly shook his head. “I'm not leaving to outrun your clan. This entire town is done with me, I can tell. I'd offer for you to leave with me, but I know you have your own responsibilities."

Shel stared into her porridge silently.

“However, it is a long journey to Westhaven. I will probably stop for several days at Greenroot, a small village along the West Road."

“Why are you telling me this?"

“I am just sharing my travel plans. If they happen to align with yours after you are done here, well…" he shrugged slightly.

“I-I just don't know what will happen." she stirred her cooling porridge. “But thank you."

“I'm glad to have met you, Shel, no matter what happens after I walk out the door I wanted you to know that."

“I feel the same way. Last night was…more than I could have ever hoped for." She couldn't help but smile. “The memory will keep me warm on cold nights."

He returned her soft smile. “I feel the same way."

Despite their stalling, breakfast eventually finished. Shel helped Caleb to don his armor and strap on his equipment. He smiled, making no move to stop her. When she went to return his dagger he shook his head and handed it back to her.

“Keep it, I think you'll need it more. And besides, it's something to remember me by."

“Thank you." she said softly as she slipped it into her belt.

“Be safe out there."

“Shouldn't I be the one to tell you that?"

Caleb laughed, “Perhaps. But still, you may want to hide that brand while you're here in Farkeep.

Shel nodded . “Noted, I'll find something to cover it with."

“Here," he held out a small pouch of coins, “I don't know if Cassia has any coins stashed in here, but you will need something no matter your plans."

Shel accepted the coins. “If we meet again, I plan to pay you back."

He let out a small laugh. “If we meet again the last thing on my mind will be those coins."

Shel wrapped her arms around Caleb tightly and smashed her lips against his in a deep kiss. He was surprised, but quickly melted into it. He could feel her hot tears on his own cheeks as they held each other tightly.

“May the spirits watch over you…" She whispered softly into his ear.

“May they watch over you too." He whispered back.

Caleb wiped her tears gently away then kissed her softly once more before pulling away.

“Wait," She called as he reached for the door, “what about your headband?"

“I'll put it on once I get to the road. I'm done trying to make Farkeep feel comfortable. I want to make every jerk in this town look me in all three eyes before I leave."

Shel couldn't help but laugh at the sentiment.

Shel walked far off the path into the forest. She wanted privacy for what she was planning. The sun was getting low, but her eyes could see well enough in the dimness of the forest.

I think we're far enough, no one's going to notice a campfire this deep in the woods. Cassia said softly in her head.

I want privacy from everyone, not just humans…but I think you are right.

Shel found a spot, not really a clearing, but space enough between the trees for a fire and a bedroll. She dropped her heavy pack off next to a tree and started to clear brush from the ground and build a small stone ring for a fire. By the time the sun had completely set she was sparking flint against steel to light her small fire.

The warm orange glow of the fire cast strange shadows in the woods. Shell was quiet, gently feeding wood into the fire, waiting to see if anyone came to investigate the fire. She stood back up and started to undress. She folded each piece of clothing and placed it on her bedroll.

Do you think this will work? Cassia asked

I'm no shaman. The spirits only know what will happen. But, I can't think of anything else to try.

Now standing nude by the firelight Shel took several deep breaths.

Are you sure you want me to do this? She asked softly.

Are you sure? Cassia asked back. If the choices are, we both go mad or this, what choice is there?

I'm sorry I had to put you in this situation.

No point in dwelling on that now. I guess this is it. She let out a slow soft sigh. Goodbye, Shel.

Goodbye, Cassia.

Shel took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She said a silent prayer to the spirits then slowly reached for the dagger. She looked down at the gift from Caleb for a moment before pulling the blade out from the sheath. She took the tip of the blade and pricked the tip of her finger. After the blood started to form at the tip she traced over the brand on her shoulder. She then began to chant the invocation the shamans had given her.

At first nothing happened, then she started to feel a strange tingle from the brand. The tingling sensation seemed to spread from her shoulder to the rest of her body. Then she started to feel a little light headed. She stared into the flickering flames of the fire and the memories of both her lives flitted across her field of vision. Shel's life growing up with her clan blended with Cassia's youth in Farkeep. Every moment of their individual lives, all the feelings, all the knowledge and skills. They slipped into each other and wove a new cloth from the threads of the two lives.

She gasped loudly, and opened her amber eyes wide. The fire had burned down low, barely more than just coals now.

Did I pass out? I must have…

She took a few more calming breaths before adding some more wood to the dying fire. Things felt almost new to her, in many ways she was a new person, even with two lifetimes of memories. She watched as the fire grew bright and warm once again. She looked over to her shoulder, the brand was still there. Touching it felt just like a normal scar. As the night started to grow cooler she decided it was a good idea to get dressed. It was as she went to tie back her hair she noticed something strange. The long blond hair was now streaked with black.

That was…unexpected, but not unwelcome. I hope Caleb will like it. She smiled as she remembered her lover.

Once she finished dressing she cooked a light supper for herself over her campfire. As she ate her meal, she thought about what she should call herself going forward.

It seems wrong to go by Shel or Cassia anymore… Cashel? Shelsia? No, they sound stupid. Wait, what about Maryana? something completely new, but still references both my heritages. “Maryana “ she said it out loud and smiled. Yes, that will be my name.

Maryana finished her meal and cleaned up. She wanted an early start in the morning so she could reach the clan's war camp, so she banked her fire and climbed into her bedroll. Maryana looked up at the small bit of the night sky she could see through the trees.

Caleb…Please wait for me…

Caleb arrived in the small village of Greenroot with no real trouble. A few bandits had tried to waylay him, but once they realized just how powerful a fighter he was they took off like bats out of hell. A small wooden palisade surrounded the village proper, but he could see farmsteads out surrounding the small village. Its position on the Western Road meant a lot of travelers passed through, and the village catered to merchant caravans, travelers, and adventurers.

Caleb had been in many places like this during his travels. Generally they were happy to just take a traveler's money without much judgment, but nobody was expected to spend more than a few days in the village. Caleb walked down the main street past the nicer places and found exactly the kind of establishment he was looking for. It wasn't too rowdy, like the next place down the road, and the outside looked simple but well maintained. He entered and was not surprised to see it had its share of adventurers.

Some of the patrons gave him polite nods as he made his way to the bar. A few coppers got him a fresh mug of ale and he slowly sipped it. Now that he was in Greenroot, the question was how long would he stay?

I do need to resupply, and my armor and sword could use some work. I'm sure there's some kind of local trouble I could hire out on to keep me fed and in a real bed. He mused as he drank. But will she come? Can she even? Caleb sighed and whipped his mouth on the back of his hand. I'll wait and see. In the meantime, I need some dinner.

Maryana sat cross legged in the War Chief's tent. She could feel the eyes of the orcs on her. She couldn't blame them really, from the outside she looked like a human, if a rather well built one with unusual hair. She gave her report smoothly and answered every question any of the elders could think of.

“Shel," the War Chief spoke in an even but firm tone, “I was unsure of the Old Ones' plan. But it seems to have worked in the end. With what we now know we can plan our assault on Farkeep. Good work."

Maryana bowed her head slightly, “Thank you, Chief."

“Woglug," the chief turned towards the one eyed shaman, “I want you to start the ritual to return Shel to her normal self as soon as possible."

Maryana noticed the look in Woglug's remaining eye before he even managed to speak.

“I am sorry, Chief," he addressed the War Chief, but his eye was pleading with Maryana, “We searched through every scroll, spirit searched, did everything we could but we could find no way to undo the merge between Shel and the human."

Maryana held out her hand. “It is alright, Woglug, I suspected as much when the ritual started. This is my fate and I accept it, for the good of the clan." She turned to her chief. “I can see the anger in your eyes, but please, do not blame the Old Ones. What was done will save many lives. This is a small sacrifice to help protect my brothers and sisters, and one I willingly made."

The War Chief was silent for some time before speaking. “I would not call it a small sacrifice."

Maryana took a deep breath. “I have a request to make."

The War Chief nodded slowly

“I know that looking like this makes the clan uneasy. Perhaps there is another way I can help the clan, or even all of our people."

The War Chief looked curious. “Go on."

“There are humans out there who don't agree with this foolish war, and many others who are just following ignorance and fear." she shook her head slightly. “Disguised as I am, perhaps I can try to change some hearts, or even make allies among them."

He mulled over her words, keeping his gaze on her. “And if you fail?"

Maryana shrugged her shoulders, “I suppose they would just kill me for being an orc lover. Still, I think I can do more out in the world than I can for the clan than staying here and cooking and mending for the warriors."

The War Chief was quiet again. All eyes were on him as he contemplated the request.

“It would be the least we could do to honor your request. Anything you need for your travels take from our stores."

“Thank you, Chief." Maryana bowed her head respectfully.

Maryana looked more like a proper adventurer as she made her way down the forested path. A chain mail shirt covered her torso and an ax and round wooden shield hung from her heavy belt. Heavy padded leggings sheathed her powerful legs and a pair of heavy boots covered her feet. She felt a little safer traveling in the open armed and armored.

Her orc father and mother had spent a day drilling her on using the ax and shield. She felt they had a certain pride in finally training her to fight. Her brothers and sisters had joined in as well. It was bittersweet in the end, but Maryana wouldn't have traded it for anything. They were her family, even if she wasn't just Shel anymore. Her orc family had given her a good send off on her quest and she hoped it gave them some closure.

Maryana tried to get as far as she could each day while the sun was up. She was hoping to meet up with Caleb at Greenroot before he moved on. He was unclear about how long he intended to wait for her. At least the weather was cooperating with Maryana, mostly clear skies and pleasant temperatures accompanied her as she traveled towards Greenroot. She had seen a few travelers, but they did little more than exchange greetings as they passed on the road.

There was more space between the trees as she neared the edge of the forest. As Maryana went around a bend in the road her eyes caught a bit of trouble ahead. A wagon laden with goods was stuck in a rut of the road, and several thugs were taking advantage of the situation. The driver and his companion were shouting and waving their clubs in the air shouting at the thugs as they slowly circled the wagon. Even if the wagon wasn't stuck, the two ox team wasn't built for speed.

Maybe it's time to put to practice what I was taught. Maryana thought as she buckled on her shield on her arm and drew her ax out of its hoop.

She let out a loud war cry and charged at the thugs. Seeing the huge armed and armored woman charged at them, the thugs just turned tail and ran back towards the woods. Maryana chased them a bit, screaming insults at them just to make sure they were truly gone. Smiling to herself she walked back towards the road. The pair on the cart were waving to her and calling her over, so she stowed her ax and approached.

“Thank you, Ma'am!" The driver said as he hopped down. “You put the fear of the gods in those cowards' hearts for sure!"

Maryana chuckled softly. “I suppose I did, are you alright?"

“We're fine," his partner called back as she got down from the cart, “thanks to you, dear."

“Apart from the cart being stuck." The driver shook his head. “Would you mind lending us your strong back to get it unstuck?"

“Best I do, in case they are running to get more friends." Maryana said, removing her shield from her arm.

“No doubt." The driver scowled, “Thugs, highwaymen, brigands…they've been multiplying like rats in a sewer these days. It's all because of that damn war!"

“Jon! Hush!" she shot her partner a glare.

“It's true Maddie, every cart driver and merchant knows it! Instead of patrolling the roads or hunting down gangs when they show up, all the soldiers and adventures out poking the Orcs and such. I've never had to take a club to an orc, it's always my fellow man trying to steal my livelihood or my life!"

“I'm sorry, my husband is…passionate about the safety of travelers."

“I agree with him. The war was a great mistake." Maryana inspected the wheel of the wagon and just how badly it was stuck.

“Which is why a big girl like yourself is here to help out instead of wasting time in the war, and thank the gods for that!"

“Can we please just get the wagon unstuck and save the politics for later?" Maddie said in an exasperated voice.

After several minutes of pushing and lifting the wagon was free from the rut and back on the road. Jon took some time to inspect the wheel and axle for any damage before continuing for the day. Maddie offered Maryana a drink of water after her efforts.

“If you don't mind me asking, where are you heading?" Maddie asked as Maryana drank down the cool water.

Maryana wiped her lips. “I'm heading to Greenroot, I'm hoping to meet up with someone there."

“That's along the path we're heading." Maddie said, taking back the water flask. “We don't have much in the way of coin, most of that is in our goods right now, but I can offer food and a ride if you would accompany us at least that far."

“Yes, a great idea!" Jon said as he stood back up, “Just you riding along and looking menacing would scare off the more cowardly thugs like those scum." Jon said with a nod.

“That would help me get to Greenroot faster, which is a concern of mine."

“So, you'll join us?" Maddie asked with a smile.

“Yes, I will." Maryana smiled back.

***

The sun was getting low but Maryana could see the village coming up over the horizon. She was excited to see it so close after days of travel on foot and wagon.

“Don't worry," Jon smiled, “We'll make it there by sunset. I'm looking forward to a good mug of ale and a comfortable bed."

“Me too," Maddie chimed in, “but I think our friend is looking forward to something else."

“Ah yes, her friend is waiting there for her."

“I hope he's still there." Maryana sighed.

“Don't worry dear," Maddie patted her arm gently. “ If he has moved on, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction."

“Mmmm." Maryana sighed and did her best to wait.

Almost as soon as they made it to the gate Maryana was jumping down from the wagon. She turned to the gatekeeper, who was just about to close the village gates for the evening.

“Excuse me, have you seen an adventure with a massive sword going by the name Caleb around?"

“Oh, yeah, I know him. A quiet man, but gets the job done right quick. I don't think he's left the village just yet."

“You see, nothing to worry about." Jon smiled from his seat in the wagon. “Go on and find him, we'll meet up later."

Despite Geenroot's small size, the large number of travelers that stop through supported a large amount of inns and pubs. Maryana stopped in her tracks, at first facing the daunting task of searching each one. Then she thought hard about Caleb and the kind of place he liked to frequent back at Farkeep. Maryana quickly walked by the fancier establishments and stepped into the first place that looked like it would fit Caleb. The common room was full and there was a buzz of talking in the air as she scanned through the pipe weed smoke in the air. Through the haze Maryana saw the back of a bald head she could never forget. She used her large body to push through the crowd as quickly as she could, reaching out to clasp him by the shoulder.

Caleb turned around immediately and his mouth dropped open when he saw her.

“You came!" he cried out over the noise of the pub and wrapped his arms tightly around her.

The powerful embrace was returned in kind, “I was afraid I would miss you…"

“You almost did, I was going to leave tomorrow…And what happened to your hair?"

Maryana leaned in and kissed him gently, “It's too loud here, I need to talk to you."

Caleb nodded and took her by the hand. They left for the relative quiet of the outside. The stars were just starting to come out as they walked towards the village's well, hands firmly squeezed together. They were alone as they stood at the edge of the stone well. The quiet of the evening was only broken by their breathing.

“Shel, I-"

She pressed a finger gently against his lips. “That is one of the things I have to explain. There was no way for Shel and Cassia to separate."

“Caleb looked slightly confused, “Then…are you Cassia or Shel?"

“Both, neither…they completed the ritual to merge their minds." she touched her own chest, “I chose the name Maryana for myself. I know this may be hard for you to understand, but both Shel and Cassia wanted to return to you, and I feel it doubly so. Caleb I-"

This time she was silenced by his lips pressing against hers. As if by reflex, Maryana placed her hands on the sides of his head and pulled him in tight and deepened the kiss. Caleb's hands wrapped around her waist as he moaned softly against her lips. They held each other tightly as the stars began to fill the night sky.

“Please," Maryana said, her lips brushing against his as she spoke, “tell me you have a room…"

She could feel Caleb's smile. “Of course, let's go!"

Maryana needed no further encouragement and followed Caleb back to his rented room. She didn't care about the quality of the room, there was a bed and that was enough. Before Caleb had even closed the door she was dropping her belt with her ax and shield to the floor. With his help Maryana quickly stripped out of her armor. It felt so good to truly feel his chest press against her own as they kissed.

Clothes were practically torn off each other and flung to the ground hap-haphazardly. They didn't even make it to the bed as hands caressed and squeezed firmly muscled flesh. Their bodies were hot as fire, yet it was a fire they both wanted to burn in. they tumbled into the bed entwined tightly. Caleb was kissing madly at Maryana's cheeks and neck, while she slowly kneaded the muscles down his back.

He kissed his way down to her full chest and kneaded the massive orbs before lowering his mouth onto a firm nipple. Maryana arched her back and moaned loudly as he licked and sucked on the sensitive nub. Her cries only encouraged Caleb as his fingers pinched and pulled her other nipple. Maryana gripped his ass tightly, her nails digging in as he played with her nipples.

Caleb started to slowly slide down her body, leaving a trail of kisses as he did so. His tongue trailed down between her hard abs and past her navel. Maryana spread her legs willingly as he continued his journey. She gasped slightly when she felt his hot breath on her sex and moaned loudly as she arched her back as she felt Caleb's mouth press against her slit. She pressed his head in tighter with her hands as she closed her eyes and moaned. Caleb's tongue lapped and flicked at her clit, hitting her just right. Before long she was squeezing his head tightly between her vise-like thighs as she cried out with a small orgasm.

Maryana didn't take long to recover, soon she had flipped Caleb onto his back and was working her tongue over his shaft. She could almost swear it was bigger than the last time as her tongue slid up the underside before she took it into her hot, wet mouth. Caleb moaned, his feet curling from the pleasure while he gripped her black and blond hair tightly with his hand. Maryana bobbed her head up and down, her moans sending vibrations through his member. Her hand fondled his balls gently in her large hand, sending more tingles up his spine. Before long it was Caleb's turn to cry out.

Maryana slid back up his body and they embraced tightly. Words didn't need to be said, they both knew the night was just beginning. The powerful sweat-slicked bodies slid against one another in the bed as they madly groped and kissed as they made up for the time apart. Maryana felt Caleb was starting to recover, she ground her hips into his, hoping to encourage him a bit.

Caleb grabbed her ass tightly pulling her tight as she moved. She giggled softly then kissed him long and hard.

“I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to make a request." she smiled down at him.

He smiled, looking back up at her with his trio of eyes. “Mmm, name it."

She slowly got off of him and positioned herself on the bed with her ass up and head down. A little wiggle of her hips was all the clarification Caleb needed. He quickly moved behind her. He placed his hands on her rear and slowly pushed them up her back, appreciating each and every line of her well cut physique. He then slid back to her rear, where he gave the firm cheeks a healthy love tap. Maryana cried out, but looked back over her shoulder with a seductive grin.

He returned the smile and got into position, guiding his rock hard cock into her more than ready pussy. They both let out long sighs as he slipped in slowly. Caleb started slowly at first, rocking back and forth slowly as his fingers traced along her back. Maryana sighed but after a while started to push back against him. He took this as his hint to go faster.

Caleb gripped her tightly by the waist and started to move quicker with long strokes, almost pulling out before slamming back home. He could hear her slightly muffled squeals of pleasure as he did so. Maryana reached back with one hand to rub her clit while the other had the sheets in a death grip.

“D-don't hold back!" Maryana cried out. “Give it all to me!"

Caleb smiled and obliged. He moved even faster, slamming so hard into her the slapping was clearly audible. Maryana cried out in pure joy and pushed back against the onslaught. She could feel it building deep within her. Suddenly Caleb reached down and grabbed her tightly by the back of the neck. That sent Maryana screaming over the edge. Feeling her passage convulse around his cock was enough to finish Caleb. He groaned loudly as he hit his own release.

They were both left panting on the bed. Caleb held himself up on his knees, but they were more than a little wobbly. When Maryana shifted to lay on her side, he quickly flopped down beside her. They held each other tightly in a panting mass on the bed. As they cooled off and caught their breath Maryana slowly opened her amber eyes to see Caleb's face and smiled gently. He returned the smile before pulling her into a long, slow kiss.

Caleb and Maryana were standing along with the caravan as they got ready to leave Greenroot. They had little trouble hiring on as guards just by their looks alone. Maryana was still feeling good from the quick morning romp they had before getting up for breakfast.

“How long will it take us to reach Westhaven?" she asked.

“Probably another week or so, depending on how the weather treats us." Caleb replied as he loaded their packs onto a wagon.

She nodded. “Do you think they will mind us sharing a bedroll along the way?"

“That depends on how much noise we make, love." His green eyes almost sparkled as he smiled.

Maryana laughed. “We should set up our tent at the edge of the camp then."

Caleb chuckled. He was about to say something when the Caravan master announced it was time to head out.

“I can't wait to see the ocean with you." She said, taking his hand into her own.

“Me too." he gave her hand a soft squeeze as they started to follow the moving wagons.

The Wizard's Legacy

Chapter 1

Caleb and Maryana stood side by side leaning on the ramparts. After several weeks on the open sea, the coast coming up on the horizon was a welcomed sight. Several encounters with pirates and sea beasts had kept the trip from being completely monotonous, but neither adventurer felt the siren's call of the sea and were looking forward to making port.

Caleb had taken off his headband to watch with all three of his eyes. He smiled as the breeze blew over his shaved head. Maryana had let her black and blond hair loose and let the breeze flow through it. The rest of the crew let the muscular couple enjoy their time alone.

“Looks like your first voyage is coming to an end." Caleb said softly as he covered her hand with his own.

“I'm glad I made it, but I am looking forward to having dry land under my feet again." Maryana turned and smiled at her lover. “That and fresh meat in my bowl."

Caleb chuckled. “Whether traveling by land or sea, a good hot meal is the best part of coming into a town."

“That and a good bed." She leaned up against his side. “Where do we go from here?"

“I don't really know. Ask me after a few good meals."

Maryana chuckled and turned her golden eyes back towards the coast that was slowly growing closer.

***

After several days in the small port town of Cardna Shore to recover their land legs and gather supplies Caleb and Maryana were ready to set out along the coast towards the larger city of Port Valensir. Even though they had their fill of traveling on the sea, they enjoyed the sight and sound of the ocean as they walked. Caleb had heard some rumors of a mad wizard in the area, but so far they had seen little evidence of any magical happenings.

They had left the road to travel along the beach for a while one afternoon when Maryana's eyes caught sight of a cave entrance. She came to a stop and pointed it out to Caleb.

“Look, there's a cave." She said pointing to it.

Caleb turned and looked. “That's not that unusual along the coast."

“But take a closer look," she leaned forward slightly as she pointed, “that's more than just an alcove, and it's well above the tide-line, I doubt the waves carved it out."

“A fair point." Caleb gave a small nod. “Let's take a closer look."

They made their way up the beach towards the cave and up onto the surrounding rocks. The closer they got the more curious the pair was about it. The sun wasn't at the best angle to illuminate more than just the entrance to the cave. Maryana looked into the cave, letting her sensitive orc eyes adjust and take a better look. Caleb removed the headband from his third eye and peered in as well.

“It looks like the cave turns to the right like thirty paces inside." Maryana said without looking away from the cave.

“More than that, it turns at a right angle," he shook his head slightly, “that doesn't happen in nature."

“So," she tilted her head slightly, “someone made this cave then?"

“Or tunneled deeper into a natural cave." Caleb turned to his partner. “Want to check it out?"

“I could do with a little bit of adventure right about now." Maryana smiled, “How about you?"

Caleb chuckled as he slipped his traveling pack from his shoulders. “Let me get a lamp, it's a little dark in there, even for our eyes."

Maryana nodded as she took off her own pack. They lit a pair of simple lamps and carried their packs in, dropping them inside so they were out of sight from the beach. As they followed the cave it became more obvious the stone had been carved purposefully. After several minutes of travel they came to a heavy iron gate set into the stone wall.

Caleb walked closer carefully, inspecting the gate visually before even daring to touch it. The metal was cool to the touch, but nothing felt strange to him. Peering through the bars he could see a winch on the other side of the gate to lift it up.

“It doesn't look locked." Caleb said, turning to his partner.

“No, it's just heavy. Good thing we have two strong bodies here then." She smiled.

Caleb returned the smile and placed his lamp through the bars of the gate and gripped the bars tightly. Maryana followed suit. After exchanging nods they started to lift the heavy gate open. It hadn't moved in quite some time and the gate fought against them until it was knocked loose. The pair strained to get the gate high enough to slip under.

“Go! Get to the winch!" Caleb said through gritted teeth.

Maryana nodded and ducked under the gate. She could hear Caleb groaning as he took the entire weight of the gate on his shoulders. She spun the winch madly to take up the slack. As soon as she felt the ratchet teeth take hold she called out to her partner.

“Caleb! Go!"

He couldn't speak, but ducked under the gate as Maryana continued to slowly raise it. He slumped back against the cold stone wall and breathed deeply.

“Are you alright?"

“Yes," he let out a long sigh, “I just need a minute." He stretched his arms out slowly over his head.

Maryana watched him, a look of concern on her face as she finished drawing the gate up fully and set the lock on the winch. She then moved to his side.

“Are you really alright?" Maryana asked, looking at him with her amber eyes full of concern.

Caleb smiled softly. “Nothing hurts, just slightly drained from it all."

She removed her water skin from her belt and handed it to him. “Here, drink."

Caleb nodded and took a long drink of water. After wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he stood back up and returned the water skin.

“Thanks."

Maryana nodded and looked deeper into the tunnel. “No one is coming out to meet us after that; it's a good sign, I think."

“Hmm, yes but stay on guard. Traps can guard for centuries after those that set them are gone."

Maryana nodded and they set off further in. Around another corner they found a heavy iron bound door. It took a little muscle to force it open, but once they were through the door they both stopped and stared. The tunnel had been carved in a simple matter but the foyer they now stood in was anything but simple.

The stone was carved as beautifully as any palace. Strange crystals set into sconces fully illuminated the area in a soft cool light. Frescoes decorated the walls portraying beautiful landscapes and finely carved statues watched them with blank eyes. Even the floor was a work of art, with tiles set in a complex geometric pattern.

“Is this the home of the Mad wizard we heard about?" Maryana asked as she looked up to the high vaulted ceiling.

“If this is the work of a mad wizard, he certainly has good taste." Caleb replied as he stepped cautiously further into the foyer.

“Hmm…" Maryana looked around the area, looking for anything that seemed out of place in the grand foyer. “If I was a wizard, I would have some kind of magic alarm to tell me when someone entered my front door, I would think."

“I agree. So that leaves three possibilities. The wizard is away from his home, the wizard is dead, or…"

“Or?" Maryana raised an eyebrow.

Caleb shrugged his shoulders. “He's just toying with us for his own amusement."

“The rumors did label him as mad, so..." Maryana placed her lamp on a convenient ledge and started to fasten her small shield to her left arm.

“Let's keep our guard up then. At least we won't need our lamps here." Caleb placed his lamp down on a small table and snuffed it out. He then pulled his massive sword off his back and readied himself.

“It looks like there are three doors," Maryana pointed with her battleaxe towards a trio of identical doors across the foyer, “where do we start?"

Caleb shrugged. “Left to right I suppose."

With that, Caleb moved to the first door. Unlike the gate and front door, this one opened easily when its knob was turned. A short hallway opened up to them. It was far less ostentatious than the previous room. The same kind of magic illuminated the hallway, if slightly dimmer than the foyer. Alcoves along the walls held various items: goblets, crystals, wands, ceremonial daggers, small charms and trinkets. All were covered in a light layer of dust.

“What do you think these things do?"

“I'm no scholar, but we want to be careful about finding out. Some enchantments are harmless, but others can explode in your face, literally."

“So, we're going to need some help to claim this treasure then?" Maryana smirked.

Caleb smiled slightly. “We'll worry about that after we clear the place of any active threats. Looks like there's a door up ahead."

Carefully Caleb opened the door. It opened up to another expansive room. The walls were lined with bookshelves, containing enough books to fill an entire library. Workbenches were covered in tools, some were as obvious as a hammer, while others they couldn't even guess their purpose. Vials and flasks were filled with liquids of every hue. Arcane charts, symbols, and calculations decorated chalkboards. What dominated the room, however, was a dais in the center of the room. They could make out a shimmering blue field that surrounded the dais, extending up to the ceiling. Standing on the dais motionless was some kind of vaguely humanoid figure.

It didn't resemble any of the statues they had seen in the foyer. They had been nearly life-like works carved in intricate detail. This was different. It seemed to just have the basic humanoid form, arms, legs, torso, and head. It was completely androgynous and lacked any features such as eyes, nose, ears or a mouth.

“What is that supposed to be?" Caleb asked as he stared at the figure."

“I don't know, but it…unsettles me." Maryana suppressed a shudder and quickly turned away.

In her haste, her shield knocked a jar off of a table. Its crash echoed across the lab as the glass shattered on the cold stone floor. Maryana flinched away from it, afraid of some kind of explosion. After a moment she relaxed slightly and inspected the damage. In the shattered remains of the jar she saw what had once been a beautiful flickering crystal. The crystal now had a massive crack in it. After a few feeble flickers there was a bright flash and the crystal shattered into dust.

Caleb pulled Maryana away from the damaged item. “Looks like we were lucky with whatever that was."

Maryana let out the breath she didn't realize she was holding. “Yeah, lucky…you better watch it with that big sword of yours."

“I'll try." he chuckled as he went to retrieve his blade from the table he had leaned it against.

Without even realizing it, Caleb's knuckles brushed against a smooth crystal ball. Small points of light flickered where his skin made contact. This went unnoticed by them both as the moved to leave the wizard's lab

“Let's go check out the other two doors." Maryana said motioning back with her head. “Before we blow ourselves up."

Frozen at a point in time, Cara waited. The black void that she had been pulled into shattered all around her. Time started to flow once more for Cara, but it was hard to make sense of any of it. She was floating, aware of her surroundings, yet she couldn't truly feel them. Cara couldn't feel anything.

Am…am I dead? She thought I remember the wizard had me bound with magical chains then he held up that crystal and…and then pain. Pain and darkness. At least the pain is gone. Am I a ghost? I don't want that…I'd rather just move on than stay here haunting this place. It was then that Cara felt something, something pulling on what was left of her. No! Stop! I'm already dead! Let me go!

The world swirled around her. Things went dark again, but this was different. It wasn't a timeless void of nothing. Cara could feel something. It wasn't what her body had felt like in life, but it was something. She could feel her soul melting into whatever she was in. It was slow and methodical. As it did so, Cara could hear strange whispers in the back of her mind. She couldn't make out words, it was more like feelings that weren't hers infringing on her consciousness.

I…I want to…wake up!

In the center of the wizard's lab the field around the figure flickered and then evaporated into the air. The figure on the dais twitched slightly, and then a pair of eyes slowly opened on the featureless face. Each was a solid orb glowing a faint green color.

***

Down the middle corridor Caleb and Maryana had found the living chambers of the Wizard. A bedroom as fancy as any lord's, a luxurious bath that the two travelers were tempted to make use of, a small study, and finally a kitchen and pantry. Laying on the floor of the kitchen among scattered dishes was the desiccated remains of a man in ornate blue robes.

“What do you think happened?" Maryana asked as she inspected the scene.

“Probably the old man just dropped dead while making his breakfast. It must have been some time ago, or else this kitchen would smell much worse.

“For all this luxury, he was so alone he didn't even have a maid to notice his dead body on the floor." Maryana shook her head, “It's sad really, when you think about it."

“It is." Caleb nodded somberly. “It may have been how I met my last days if I hadn't met you."

Maryana blushed slightly. “I'll ah, go back to the bedchamber and find a sheet to wrap him up in. The least we can do is give him a proper burial."

Caleb nodded. “I'll wait here for you."

***

Cara took a shaky step to the edge of the dais. She still felt slightly loose in this new form. She stumbled a bit as she stepped down to the floor, but managed not to fall. Cara took in her surroundings. Her first instinct was to look for anything valuable, but something seemed to override that. Something felt more important to her than gold, and that was a strange sensation for Cara. She then wrapped her arms around her androgynous body as she felt some kind of tingle wash over her new body.

Wha-what now?

Cara almost started to panic, but the whispers in her head seemed to calm her down. She slowly straightened back up and looked down at her hands. Her green eyes watched with fascination as the white lifeless surface of her body started to shift color. Slowly it started to take on a flesh colored tone. Pale at first, it started to darken. Taking on a rich coppery tone, far darker than Cara's skin had been in life, but she rather liked it. Honestly anything was better than the white it had been a moment ago.

The color seemed to spread up her arms and then down her body. While still trying to process what was happening, Cara felt some kind of a pull deep within herself. She slowly turned her body towards the door to the lab. Cara's next few steps were more confident, as she grew used to moving her new body. Her arms and legs grew longer as she moved, following the pull. Cara now stood far taller than an average woman, let alone her former rather petite height. Her torso started to shift as well, taking on a more feminine shape, hips flaring and chest starting to expand.

This feels so strange…almost like I'm made of clay and unseen hands are molding me. It's not unpleasant, but I certainly wasn't this tall in my old body.

Looking down she saw her chest now sported a round and full pair of breasts.

And those are definitely bigger! She thought as she cupped them gently with her hands.

She felt something and raised her hands to the smooth featureless face. She could feel her flesh shape and shift under her fingertips. A nose rose out and she realized she could smell again as the strange scents of the wizard's lab filled her head. Cheeks and a chin soon followed, then a perfect full pair of lips. She opened her mouth for the first time, not to breathe but to make a small sound. She worked her lips and new tongue as she tried to remember how to speak.

Ears formed on the sides of her head, but there wasn't much to hear in the empty room other than her own voice.

“He-he-hello…" Cara paused, trying to remember if that was what her voice always sounded like. “Hello?"

She wanted to stay and keep working on her voice, but the pull was there again, and it felt even stronger. Cara continued to walk towards the door. The transformation of her new body wasn't complete, however. With each step Cara's flesh, if that was what one could call it, rippled and shifted. Soon her legs went from vaguely female, to athletic, to well toned. The change seemed to ripple up her body, as her abs went from smooth to well defined. She idly traced a finger over them as she walked.

It flowed up Cara's back and across her shoulder blades, and down to her arms. She looked every inch a dark skinned amazon warrior of legend, not a petite lithe thief. Cara paused again mid step as she felt a shiver go up her spine and felt an intense sensation in between her legs. She looked down with her solid green eyes and watched as a new sex formed where once had been nothing but smooth skin.

Is it…real? She reached between her legs and lightly brushed her fingers against it. Oh gods! It's real!

Cara now felt something new blending in with the invisible pull, a deep and powerful desire. She let out a soft moan and continued to move, but this time with more purpose. Dark brown hair started to grow out from the top of Cara's head. Before long it was cascading down her shoulders. Cara did the best she could to push back the shining locks of hair.

I'll tie it back later, right now I have to find out where this…thing is taking me. And gods, what is this feeling? It's like I'm going to jump the first guy I see!

The lab was as far as Cara had made it when trying to rob the old wizard, so she had no knowledge of the rest of his domain. But the pull of this new body led her through a door and down a long hallway.

I don't know what is calling to me, but It's close, I can feel it!

***

Caleb was poking around in the pantry when he heard the door to the kitchen swing open.

“That was faster than I expected." he started to turn around. “Did you…"

Caleb's words trailed off as he stared at the figure standing just inside the door. She was tall, at least as tall as Maryana, and just as broad and powerful. Who or whatever she was, she was definitely a she, her nude perfectly sculpted body left no doubt about that. The figure stared at Caleb with solid unblinking green eyes. The man was unsure what to do. His fighting instinct urged him to grab his sword from where it rested against the wall and arm himself. But other instincts were triggered by the appealing aspects of her form.

Cara stared back at the man. He was tall, built like an ox, and had the look of an adventurer all about him. But it was the three eyes that met her gaze that triggered an old memory.

“C-Caleb?" her soft voice was barely audible.

He blinked, not sure if he had imagined what he just heard. “Do I know you?"

“It is you." The amazon's voice was more confident now. “It's me."

His three eyes looked at her copper skinned body up and down. “I am sure I would remember meeting someone like you before."

She shook her head, “No, not this…this body," she tapped her hands against her chest, “It's me, Cara. You remember me, right?"

All three of his eyes blinked. “Cara?"

“Yes! Remember? We last saw each other in that shitty pub in that mining town, what was it called…Ironhorne? Must have been a year ago, maybe two."

“It was over six years ago." He said, still unsure of the woman's story.

“Was it? Shit, how long was I…Nevermind that! There's a sick bastard of a Wizard living here so you better…" Cara trailed off as she followed Caleb's gaze to the desiccated corpse on the floor. “You…didn't do that, did you?"

“No, he died some time ago, probably just time catching up to an old man." He turned to look back at her. “What happened to you, Cara?"

“I tried to rob the place, I got a tip that the Mad Wizard was out of his lair." she crossed her arms over her chest, “It was a bad tip. He caught me in his lab and then…" She shook her head. “I, I think he killed me." Caleb raised an eyebrow. “I know, that sounds crazy, but it felt like I was being pulled out of my body. It hurt. A lot. Then there was darkness until today I found myself free from whatever he had stuck me in, but I was just a spirit or soul or something. I was prepared to just move on, and then I was pulled into this." she tapped her chest."

“I don't remember seeing a body like that in the lab."

“It wasn't like this when I first got sucked into it. I was all white, and didn't even look like a man or a woman." Cara shook her head slightly, “The body started to change as I was drawn here, I certainly wasn't given any choice in the form it grew into." she looked down and flexed her nude form a bit. “I can't say I hate it completely though." She took a few more steps towards Caleb. “What do you think?"

Caleb blushed slightly. “I ah…"

“Oh, right," Cara looked down, “I'm naked. Strangely, that doesn't bother me much anymore."

“That's well and good but-"

“You didn't answer me. Do you think it's an improvement?"

Caleb wondered if there was a correct answer to that statement. In truth, she was very attractive to him now, whereas her original body was not really his type. Cara moved closer and smiled. The smile he recognized as Cara's. However, before she could pull an answer out of Caleb, Maryana returned.

“Who are you?" she growled, dropping the sheet she was carrying and drawing her battleaxe. “Get away from him you-"

“Maryana! Wait!"

Without even thinking about it, Cara whirled around and placed herself between Caleb and the angry woman. And glared.

“Who are you?" She answered back, balling her hands into fists.

“Oh gods…" Caleb quickly moved to put himself between both women. “Everyone stand down!" he intoned in a commanding voice. Neither woman relaxed, but fists and ax were lowered slightly. “Maryana, she doesn't mean any harm. Cara is just a victim of the wizard."

“And you believe this…creature?"

“Hey!" Cara snapped back, narrowing her green eyes.

“I'm disappointed to hear that from you, given your own story." Caleb said softly.

The blonde and black haired woman flushed a deep red and looked away.

“Cara's spirit was somehow placed into that figure we saw in the lab."

“That's an interesting story, but I remember it looking far different than your ideal woman."

It was Caleb's turn to flush red and look away.

This bit of a revelation clicked in Cara's head. “So, you like an amazon to share your bedroll. I guess that's why you never jumped in mine when we traveled together."

“Wait, you know her?" Maryana said, narrowing her eyes slightly.

“We traveled together for a time, long before I came to Farkeep." He quickly explained.

“I see," She glared at the copper-skinned amazon, "and what was she doing here?"

“The same thing you are doing." She smirked, “I was trying to get a few shineys from that old bastard." Cara pointed to the corpse. “He then ripped the soul out of my body. You two must have done something to free me."

“We didn't do any…" Maryana trailed off as she remembered the jar with the crystal in it she had knocked over and shattered. “Oh gods, the jar!"

“Jar?" Cara asked, “What jar?"

“That glowing crystal that sputtered and flashed that must have been…But how did she get into…" Caleb shook his head. “I hate magic sometimes."

“He stuck my soul in a jar?" Cara's face grew angry and she turned and kicked the desiccated corpse, snapping it in two. “You bastard!"

Maryana and Caleb winced at the sound, but they could understand her anger.

“Let's just get what's left of him into the ground and be done with it." Maryana said softly and Caleb nodded.

Caleb retrieved the sheet Maryana had brought and sighed “I'll take care of it." He quickly gathered up the remains in the sheet and tied the corners around the body.

When he went to leave the kitchen with the morbid bundle slung over his shoulder, Cara felt a desire to stay with him. She followed after him,

“Where are you going?" Maryana said with a bit of a scowl.

“I-I don't know I just feel…something, like I need to stay with Caleb."

“I realize you are friends of a sort, but he's not available."

“What makes you think I want to jump his bones? He's just an old friend. I already told you, we never shacked up." Cara's green eyes showed a bit of longing as she reminisced. “I just feel this pull to stay near him. It's what brought me to his side in the first place."

Caleb sighed softly. “I think something is going on here"

Maryana took a deep breath. “Caleb, I just don't think I want her alone with you right now."

“Maryana, Don't you think it's more than a little strange that a short, slim, and curveless woman transformed into an ideal partner for me?"

“Ouch, that's a little harsh…" Cara muttered.

Maryana's eyes quickly shifted between the woman and her lover. “Did you have to phrase it like that?"

“I'm sorry; transformed into my preferred type then."

“So, you do think it's an improvement." Cara smirked a little.

Caleb let out a bigger sigh and shook his head. “We're going back to the lab to see if the three of us can figure this out now."

***

Along the way back to the Lab, Maryana grabbed another sheet and insisted Cara cover herself. She accepted the request as to not push things any further and had improvised a toga of sorts that covered her breasts and sex. Minus the now empty dais, they found the lab as it had been left. Though she was no scribe, Cara had a small bit of arcane knowledge as it came in handy when dealing in magical goods. She eventually stumbled upon one of the wizard's lab journals and found out what exactly he had been working on.

“You know how everyone called this guy the Mad Wizard?" She looked up from the book

“Yes?" The other two responded.

“Turns out he was a pervert too." Cara sighed and closed the book. “He was constructing what I can only describe as a sex golem. It was designed to attune to their owners' innermost desires and take a shape pleasing to them."

“That explains your look then." Maryana said softly.

Caleb blushed slightly but remained quiet.

“Yeah." She let out a small sigh. “The last thing he was working on before he choked on his breakfast was the control system." she tapped the side of her head with her finger. “I think this golem absorbed my soul to fill in the gaps, as it were."

“But why did you attune to Caleb and not me?" Maryana shook her head. “I smashed the, what did you call it, spirit gem?"

“That just allowed the body to absorb me." Cara pointed to a softly glowing ball on a workbench. “Caleb, pick up that crystal ball for me, please."

Caleb nodded, but he hesitated when he reached out for it. As he picked it up it went from a soft candle-like glow to a swirling vortex of colors. He almost dropped it out of surprise.

“Ok, now hand it to Maryana." She said with a nod.

When the ball changed hands, it went dark, not so much as a flicker.

“That's what I thought. Caleb must have brushed against the Owner's Orb and that made the golem, or rather me, attune to him."

Maryana looked down at the dull crystal in her hand. “What if I break this thing?

Cara shook her head. “That would just stop me from being able to attune to another individual after Caleb's death."

Caleb swallowed hard. “What are you saying?"

“I'm saying I am stuck as your sex golem." She turned to Maryana. “I'm sorry, I can't help it, I don't want to steal your man."

“As if I would let that happen." Maryana sighed, “Still, it's not your fault. If I had touched that orb I suppose you would be a handsome incredibly buff guy right now following me around naked."

“Most likely yes…I'm glad I'm still female, not that I would mind getting my hands on you." Cara said with a slight shrug.

Maryana blinked. “What?"

“Oh come on," Cara placed a hand on her hip, “do you think Caleb is the only person who finds you cute?"

“But you're…" Words were failing Maryana.

“Caleb never talked much about me, did he?"

She spared her lover a pointed look. “Apparently not."

Cara turned to Caleb. “I thought you would have told the story of the mayor's son and daughter every chance you got."

Caleb shrugged his shoulders. “It wasn't my story to tell."

“Fair enough." she smiled softly as she reflected back on the memory. “How about we come to an agreement? What I feel for Caleb isn't love, which you obviously do feel for him. I just can't help wanting to be with him while I'm stuck in the body of a sex golem. I'll keep my hands off of him and you don't try to chop my head off."

Maryana was quiet as she thought about it. She had a certain amount of pity for Cara and her situation, and she and Caleb were both partially responsible for it. But, Maryana couldn't help feeling the sting of jealousy with her lover being around the copper-skinned amazon.

“I think I need a drink," Maryana sighed, “this is a lot to take in."

“Yeah, me too." Caleb said, shaking his head. “I think I saw a few bottles of wine in the pantry."

“You two need a drink? I'm the one who was dead for four years." Cara said with a slight chuckle.

Chapter 2

Caleb sat at the kitchen table of the late Mad Wizard. To his right was Maryana, his adventuring companion and lover. Her blonde and black striped hair was pulled back into a simple pony tail and her golden eyes were locked on the 'woman' across from her. On Caleb's left was Cara, The soul of an old friend of his, now trapped inside the body of a sex-golem. The once small and lithe thief now had a body of similar build and proportions on Maryana. This was almost to be expected as when Caleb accidentally attuned to the golem it took on a form he would find most appealing. Her flawless skin was a rich copper tan color and her long dark hair hung past her shoulders. Cara's green eyes shifted between Maryana and Caleb.

This was not what I expected when we entered the keep. Caleb thought as he reached for one of the open wine bottles on the table.

Cara had poured her wine into a cup. She drank slowly savoring the taste of the fine vintage. Even if the last four years had passed in a blink of an eye for her, she still felt it had been too long since she enjoyed a cup of good wine.

“I admit I don't usually drink wine, I lack the refinement to enjoy it." Maryana said as she slowly turned the bottle in her hand. “That said, I find it more than a little odd that a golem can even drink, let alone appreciate fine wine."

Cara chuckled as she swirled the red wine in her cup. “What can I say? That old pervert designed his golem to swallow."

Caleb nearly spat out his wine at the statement. Cara laughed before sipping the wine in her cup.

“As far as I can tell, my body still needs to be fueled to run. I guess making it so I could just eat and drink was easier than some kind of exotic magical source. As for appreciating fine wine, that must have just been a part of my soul that carried over to this body.

“Speaking of food," Caleb said having recovered, “From what I can tell all the food in the pantry seems to be fresh, despite how long it must've been since he went food shopping."

“The bastard must have had some kind of preservation enchantment on his pantries." Cara paused to sip her wine. “Makes sense, it's not like he was popping off to town once a week for fresh bread."

“Still, it seems like such a waste to put this much effort and magic into a home," Maryana gestured to the keep around them, “ just to live and die all alone."

“Wizards can be an odd lot. Some of them are so into their craft that everything else has no meaning to them." Caleb said as he looked around the kitchen. “It looks like this Mad Wizard was one such loner."

“Yeah, but apparently he did still care about getting his rocks off, or else he wouldn't have designed a sex-golem." Cara said lightly tapping her chest.

“If you are unhappy with your body, I'm sure Caleb and I could set your soul free." Maryana smirked from across the table.

“Hey now, I don't want that. I mean, I'm already dead from a certain standpoint, but this isn't that bad of an afterlife. After all, I can still enjoy wine, among…other things." She turned and winked at Caleb.

“Yes, well…" Caleb blushed and quickly put the wine bottle to his lips, not trusting himself to reply.

Maryana narrowed her eyes slightly. “Cara…"

“I'm sorry, I can't help teasing him, it never worked before when I was a small-fry, and you have to admit it's cute making a big guy like Caleb all flustered."

A slight smile lifted the corners of Maryana's lips, but she said nothing.

“Look, why don't we just take a day or two and figure out what to do next. I've certainly camped out in less comfortable caves in my time and it will give us a chance to assess the treasure as well."

Maryana sighed. “I figured we would be staying overnight before Cara showed up. And we will need to figure out what to do with her before we can move on."

“How generous of you." Cara rolled her eyes before finishing her wine.

***

The three of them split up for a bit of alone time. Cara could still feel roughly where Caleb was, but the whispers in her head were quiet and there was no pull towards him. She wondered if it was him suggesting some time alone that her golem nature took as an order. Regardless, it felt good to have a bit more autonomy. Searching through a few closets she had found a belt for her waist, improving her impromptu toga. She has also helped herself to a nice pair of golden bracelets. She rather liked the way the gold looked against her now coppery tan skin.

Feeling more confident in her attire, Cara decided now was a good time to have a conversation with Maryana. She made her way in the direction she had seen the woman go after they left the kitchen. It didn't take long before she found Maryana in what could only be called an armory.

“Hey, can I talk to you?"

Maryana put down the ax she had been inspecting and turned to the golem. “I believe we do need to have some words."

At least she put the ax down first. “Let me be honest with you. I always liked Caleb. I mean look at him, after six years he's only gotten bigger and hotter."

Maryana started back with a deadpan expression. “That isn't exactly helping me to like you."

“Look, I'm a thief, but I steal things, not people. I know that must sound rich coming from the mouth of a sex-golem bound to your boyfriend."

“It does color it a bit." Maryana crossed her arms, “Though if anything It's my fault you're stuck in that body."

“I'm not going to complain about you letting my soul out of a jar. I mean seriously, that's so much worse than just killing me like a normal evil wizard."

“Could have been worse, he could have been a necromancer." Maryana smirked.

Cara stared back at her, but a moment later they were both laughing.

“Alright, so sex-golem is way better than undead abomination. So what's your story then?"

“Hmm? What do you mean?"

“Oh come on, I'm not stupid. Or did you not know you speak common with just a hint of an orcish accent. And then there's your body, not many human women are built like, well us, and even though I know a guy with three eyes, I've never seen a human with golden ones." Cara crossed her arms over her chest. “So, what's your story?"

“In all my time traveling with Caleb, no one has actually noticed those things. You are…observant."

“You have to be in my profession."

Maryana sighed. “If I don't tell you, you will probably pester us both, so fine. You might as well sit down, it's a long story."

***

Caleb sat down on the edge of the bed. He had a few books with him. Not sure where to begin, he simply started with the one on the top of the pile.

There has got to be something I can do about Cara. It's total shit what happened to her, and it's not her fault she got stuck in the golem. It's also more than a little embarrassing that her body was shaped and molded to my liking. Though I suppose it's not that much of a secret when Maryana is my lover. If I can at least find a way to separate the bond between us…

All three of his eyes focused on the dense arcane notes and procedures. Even if he couldn't find the answer, Caleb hoped he could find the right questions to ask another wizard for help in the situation. After reading for a while he came across an arcane diagram taking up an entire page. Caleb tried to follow it, but it only made his eyes swim.

I thought pictures were supposed to make books easier to understand. Caleb closed and rubbed his eyes. Come on, there has to be something in here that helps.

After turning several pages his eyes were drawn to a list of words. Caleb squinted as he tried to read them. It took him a moment to realize they were not words in the common tongue.

“What the…" he said softly aloud, “How do I even…" he ran his finger under a word on the list. “Ki-su-la knab-in-on? Is that how you even say it?"

***

“...And then I met back up with Caleb in Greenroot. We've been traveling with each other ever since." Maryana finished her story.

“Wow, I hardly believe you, and look at my situation." Cara shook her head. “So there were two of you in that head, but you merged into one? So you have the memories of both the human and the orc?"

“Essentially, yes. Both pasts are mine in equal measure."

“Is it ever confusing?"

Maryana shrugged. “Not for me."

“Heh, well, that's good at least. I have enough trouble sharing headspace with the golem control spells let alone…" Cara trailed off and her eyes went wide.

The gentle whispering she could hear in her mind was not so gentle this time. She rose quickly to her feet. Maryana saw the strange behavior and got up as well.

“Cara? Are you-"

Before she could finish, Cara closed the small distance between them and wrapped her copper toned arms around Maryana. When Maryana opened her mouth to protest, she instead found it covered by the golem's own mouth. Time seemed to hang still for a moment. Cara's lips were perfectly soft and warm. It was so different from the way Caleb kissed her, but no less enjoyable. Subconsciously, Maryana started to relax into the powerful arms holding her, before she realized what was happening and pushed away. She stumbled backwards, bumping into a rack filled with weapons that rattled. Maryana panted as she glared at the golem.

“I'm, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to jump you like that. Something forced me to, like an irresistible command. Though I can't complain too much, you're a good kisser too."

“Irresistible command? What the hell do you mean by that?"

“I'm a golem, and there are command words I'm subject to. Caleb must have said something out loud he shouldn't have."

“Oh gods, Caleb…" Maryana's cheeks flushed a deep red color. “I need to find him."

“It feels like he's in the wizard's old bedchamber if that-" Cara wasn't able to finish before Maryana pushed past her to get through the door. “Hmmm…" Cara rubbed her chin as she thought about what had just happened. I'm guessing I was the first girl to kiss her, and she's worried about liking it. I should follow her, I don't want her getting angry at Caleb for what must have been an accident.

Cara followed after Maryana towards the bedroom.

***

Caleb had moved onto the next book in his pile when the door to the bedroom was thrown open, he looked up to see Maryana with a desperate look on her face.

“What's wrong? Did you find a trap or something?"

“Definitely an 'or something'." she muttered almost under her breath before taking a moment to compose herself. “Caleb, what are you reading exactly?"

“I was trying to read through what the wizard had left about the golem body Cara is stuck in. I was trying to see if there was some way I could sever her bond to me and let her be her own person."

“You're no mage." She shook her head. “In fact, you and I are as far as possible from that."

“I know, but I wanted to know how to even ask someone for help in this situation. I'm glad Cara is still alive, sort of anyway, but I don't want her bound to me like some kind of..."

“Trust me, I want that even less than you do. But I think you may have done something to her."

“What?" Caleb closed the book he was reading and stood up.

“Did you read anything about giving commands to the golem?"

“Yes, well I skimmed it." He pointed to a book on the bed. “The words were in a language I didn't recognize."

“Did you try to say them anyway? Maybe out loud?" she raised an eyebrow, her suspicion only growing.

“I, ah, yes I guess I did," He rubbed the back of his smooth head, “what happened, are you both alright?".

“Caleb, Cara…she kissed me. She claimed it was some kind of command but I don't know if that's true."

He took a deep breath. “If that's still the same Cara in there that I knew, you would know she was coming onto you long before she kissed you."

Maryana looked towards the floor. “That's not entirely comforting."

“Then again if it is all my fault, I'll take responsibility for it."

“That's not the problem. Caleb, I-I think I liked it. That's what I feel guilty about."

“Maryana, it's alright. Neither of you planned on that happening. It just did."

“Yes, but what if it just happens again?"

Before Caleb could answer there was a soft knock on the open door.

“Hey." Cara said as she entered the room. “I guess Maryana told you what happened given the looks on your faces."

“Yeah…I'm sorry about what happened, I didn't mean to give you some kind of command."

Cara held up her hands and shook her head. “It's fine, Caleb, I figured it was an accident. What were you trying to do anyway?"

“I was just reading through a few things, trying to find a way to help you."

“My original body is dead and gone, I don't think there's much you can do to help me at this point."

“I meant to break the bond you have with me, so you can be your own person."

“Unfortunately, that's not something you can hack away at with your sword. And it may not even be possible, even for an archmage. What happened, me merging with the golem wasn't supposed to happen. My soul was pulled in to fill in the gaps in the unfinished control spells. I'm still me, but I'm entwined with what passes for a mind with golems. However, I do appreciate the thought." she smiled softly at Caleb. “You always had a big heart under all that muscle. But really, it's probably best to have someone with actual magical skill look into it for us. However, this little incident does bring to the forefront something I've been thinking about."

“And what exactly is that?" Maryana asked.

“As much as I want to be in total control of this body, it was designed and built to be a sex-golem by a pervert. There are going to be times when those…functions assert themselves. Just like a werewolf under the full moon, I can't control it, and I could end up jumping Caleb or you. As fun as that could be, I may not be able to stop myself."

Maryana's face went red and she quickly looked between Caleb and Cara. After taking a moment and a deep breath she finally spoke.

“Excuse us, Caleb, we need to discuss some things, privately."

Caleb sighed as he watched her drag Cara back into the hallway. The golem closed the door behind them for privacy. He sighed and sat back on the edge of the bed.

I'm starting to miss fighting pirates on the boat ride… He rolled all three of his eyes before picking the book back up.

“Before we get started," Cara asked after her wrist was released. “I have to ask, how do orc ladies normally solve disputes over lovers?"

“Usually with our fists."

“Lovely."

“Look, If I wanted to beat your soul back out of that body, I would have done so in front of Caleb. I want to talk."

“Ok, so let's talk. First of all, don't get mad at Caleb, alright? It's not his fault I can't help this body from, well, wanting him."

“But you still find him attractive anyway, right?"

“Of course I do, look at him, who cares about the third eye?" Cara tapped the space between her eyes. “He could have eight eyes and a tail and still be hot as hell."

Maryana couldn't help the snort of laughter she let out. “I can hardly argue that point. I just know a lot of humans look at gifts of the spirits in a negative light."

“Well, being that I'm a thief I don't conform to a lot of society's standards. Hell, I'm not even human anymore so that gives me even less reason to do so. But," her green eyes locked with Maryana's golden ones, “Caleb isn't the only attractive muscle-bound pretty thing in the keep, now is he?"

Maryana blushed slightly, but kept eye contact with her. “Yes, you've said as much not long after we first met."

“Now, I get it if you're only into guys, that's fine. I can accept that and as long as Caleb doesn't give me the command to rip your tunic off we should be fine."

“Oh spirits!" Maryana rubbed her forehead. “Is that even one of the commands?"

“I don't know," Cara shrugged her shoulders, “but it wouldn't surprise me at this point."

Maryana shook her head and leaned against the wall. “The fact is, one of my former lives had thought about females…in that way. So it is a part of me now."

“Which half?" She saw the look Maryana gave her, “Alright, you don't have to tell me. But it's a part of you, don't you ever want to scratch that itch?"

“Not until…" She trailed off and looked away.

“Oh, now that is a compliment! Also, I think it's cute that you and Caleb have the same taste in females."

“Thanks." Maryana replied sarcastically.

“Come on, neither of us cares one bit about society, but we both care a lot for Caleb. Maybe there is somewhere we could, say, meet in the middle?" she smiled widely.

Looking at Cara's smile made a shiver run down Maryana's back, but she was also intrigued. “What do you have in mind?"

Not having much else to do, Caleb went back to reading the books. Maryana was right, he was no mage, but he could at least make some sense out of the Mad Wizard's notes, and try to avoid any unintentional commands going forward. He was so wrapped up in the book he didn't notice when the door slowly opened and Cara and Maryana entered the room. Caleb continued to read over a difficult section while the door was closed and bolted. It wasn't until they were nearly on top of him that he noticed their presence.

“Oh, you're back. Did you guys work things out?"

Maryana took the book out of his hand and tossed it to the side while Cara fell to her knees at the edge of the bed and started to unfasten Caleb's belt.

“Wait what-" He was silenced by Maryana's mouth pressing up tightly against his lips.

Before he could even react to the kiss, Cara was pulling down his leggings. Maryana pushed him back onto the bed and started to pull at his tunic.

Alright…I guess this is happening. Caleb thought as he pulled Maryana in for a deeper kiss.

Cara paused to remove her makeshift toga before pulling down his smallclothes. She smiled as she finally got to see his goods after all those years. The whispers in her mind were unneeded, as Cara already wanted this. With one hand she cupped his warm balls while the other wrapped around his hardening shaft.

Caleb moaned softly into Maryana's mouth as he pulled and tugged at her clothing. Eventually, they had to break the kiss to remove the clothing that was in the way. Maryana ran her hands over his muscled body, tracing a few of his scars with her fingers. She glanced back to the golem and smiled as she got an idea. Maryana slowly kissed her way down Caleb's body, letting her tongue drag against his skin. Before long she slipped off the edge of the bed next to Cara.

Cara shared her smile as she slowly stroked Caleb to full mast. The golem shifted a bit to share with Maryana. Caleb pushed himself up slightly, just in time to see two tongues licking his cock. With a groan he dropped back onto the bed. Both girls couldn't help but giggle at his reaction. Cara flicked her tongue at the base of his balls before slowly running it up the underside. Maryana meanwhile teased the head with long hard strokes.

Recovered from the shock, Caleb slowly sat up and rested a hand on each of their heads. This was a new experience for him, but it was certainly enjoyable. Cara stood up, leaving his cock in Maryana's experienced hands, and mouth. She wrapped her arms around Caleb's neck and kissed him deeply. Caleb responded immediately, returning the kiss and holding tightly to the golem. He moaned into Cara's mouth as he felt his shaft slip past Maryana's lips.

Caleb was at the mercy of both of them, not that he was about to complain about it. He was pushed down onto his back once more and pulled fully onto the bed by Cara. Maryana quickly climbed up on the bed and straddled Caleb's legs. She grabbed his stiff spit-slick cock and guided it into her as she slowly lowered herself onto it. Just after he was fully engulfed, Cara straddled his face. She smiled across to Maryana as she pushed her sex against Caleb's face.

He got the hint. Caleb grabbed onto Cara's copper toned thighs and started to lap at her slit. He started to moan hard into her when Maryana moved, slowly riding his shaft. Cara let out a low moan and reached out for the other female. She massaged and played with Maryana's rock hard nipples, pulling a few cries of pleasure out of her. Maryana responded in kind, pinching hard enough for the golem to really feel it before pulling Cara into a hard desperate kiss.

They held onto each other tightly as they both rode Caleb. Cara was afraid of hurting Maryana at first, until she felt how hard her new friend was squeezing her. She just let go, and held on tight enjoying the touch and feel of the strong woman while Caleb expertly ate her out. Maryana was the first one to go, breaking the kiss and throwing her head back as she let out a cry of pure pleasure. The sight and sound was enough to quickly push Cara over as well. She squeezed her thighs tightly around Caleb's head as she enjoyed her first climax in her new body.

As tight as Cara squeezed his head, Caleb was loving it. Having both powerful ladies riding him was an excitement unto itself. He rocked his hips up with another few thrusts before his own load was spent. He was starting to get light headed when Cara finally shifted off his face. Caleb gasped for fresh air and reached up to pull Maryana down for a kiss. As they slowly kissed, the golem laid down beside them, her hands stroking them both before she pushed her own head in for attention, stealing kisses from Caleb and Maryana. They ended up a tangled up mess as they held and kissed one other in the warm afterglow.

Some time later, the three were resting on the large bed. Caleb stared up at the mural painted on the ceiling of the bedchamber. The wizard had a fresco of ladies that just pushed the border between artistic and lewd. He could appreciate the skill of the artist even if his personal taste in women was quite different. On his right Maryana was curled up against his side. On his left Cara was softly running her hand up and down his chest and side. He still wasn't sure exactly what had led up to this.

“Now that was worth waiting for." Cara said with a smile.

Maryana sighed, “I know what you mean."

Caleb sighed. “I'm sure there are plenty of other men out there who are just as good."

“And he's modest to boot." Cara snuggled up against his side.

“Sometimes to a fault." Maryana kissed Caleb softly on the cheek.

Caleb shifted slightly on the sheets, but didn't yet want to get up. “Now that this is all out in the open, what do we do next?"

“Well, I have a few positions I'd like to try." Cara smirked.

He turned to face the golem. “I mean moving forward."

“I know, I'm just joking around, sort of anyway. But I have been thinking about things, and I'd like to return to adventuring again, specifically with you two. I know this body would want to stay close to Caleb anyway, but it's more than that. I wasn't cut out to be on my own. What landed me in this situation was just the final misadventure in a string of them after we separated. Besides, I can lend my skills to both of your muscles.

“As if you're a weakling in that body." Maryana shook her head.

“That's a good point, but still."

“We might as well take her, otherwise she'll just sneakily follow behind us and slip into our bedroll at night anyway." Maryana said with a smirk.

“That was my plan B, how did you guess it?" Cara giggled.

“Alright, if Maryana is alright with it, so am I." Caleb said with a slight smile.

“Good. Now, about those positions I wanted to try…"

After a very long evening Caleb and Maryana slept in until almost noon. Cara no longer had the need to sleep, so instead she cooked a large brunch for them to enjoy. Caleb was certainly hungry after last night and happily chowed down on the mountain of freshly grilled sausage, bacon, and ham piled on the table. Maryana was no less hungry and joined in as well. After a dent had been made in the food Caleb brought up their next move.

“So, what do we do with all the treasure here?" Caleb motioned around him with his free hand.

“There is so much, not just in coins, gems, and other valuables, but all his arcane equipment and library." Maryana said, shaking her head. “We'd need an entire caravan to clean this place out."

“Why clean it out at all?" Cara said as she picked up an apple from a fruit bowl. “The Mad Wizard is dead, we can lay claim to the entire hidden keep, not just the shinies inside it. It makes the perfect hideout and home base for us. We just take whatever equipment and spare change we need for our trip and leave the rest safely stored here until we need it."

“That does sound like an interesting plan. Having a home, and a comfortable one at that, to come back too sounds good to me." Maryana said.

“The only issue I see is, what stops anyone else from walking down the beach and noticing the cave like we did? We could come back to find everything stripped out, or other people who decided to settle in and call this place home."

“Well, what I would really like is a magical gate, complete with an illusion wall to fool anyone who happens upon our little keep. But since none of us are wizards, I do have a temporary idea until we can arrange that. So eat up, we're going to first need to pack up for tomorrow morning. And then we'll just put all that brute strength our party has to work."

The morning sun was just starting to beat down on Caleb as he maneuvered a heavy boulder into position at top of the pile they had been building since dawn. He wiped the sweat off his brow and stepped back to examine their work. The three of them had built a rough stone wall out of boulders blocking off most of the cave entrance from the beach.

“Good job." Cara said, giving his bare back a pat.

Cara had managed to find some actual clothes that fit. Dressed in a tough leather jacket, leggings, and supple boots she could pass for a human with an exotic skin tone. Cara hadn't bothered with armor as her golem body was tough enough on its own. She had, however, helped herself to a few enchanted knives and a short sword from the armory.

“Hmm, it still looks obvious to me." Maryana said as she inspected the stacked stones.

“I know, that's why I was collecting the vines and such from further down the beach. It will help camouflage the rocks. It helps that not a lot of people walk along the beach anyway, most stick to the road up there and anyone out at sea isn't going to notice a small detail on the shore."

“That's true," Caleb said as he looked up at the road above them, “or else we wouldn't have been the first visitors to the keep since the wizard's death."

“Caleb, take a break while I get the wall disguised." Cara said as she deftly scaled to the top of the wall.

Caleb nodded and headed off to a shady spot where their gear was stashed. He sat down and took a long drink from his waterskin. They had all found a few items to help them on their adventures, and plenty of coins for their purses.

Maryana joined him, leaning in against him. “I think this will work out, as long as we remember where the entrance is."

Caleb chuckled and passed her the waterskin. “I'm pretty sure Cara can find it, no matter how good a job she does hiding it."

“So, after we're done here?"

“Hopefully we can make it to an actual town before nightfall, but if not…" He smiled to himself.

“Hoping for a repeat performance from last night are you?" Maryana smirked before taking a drink of water. “At any rate I don't think our bedrolls will be anything less than warm for the foreseeable future."

Caleb's smile grew wider. Things have taken an interesting turn on this adventure. I'm not sure where it will end up but for now, we'll just see what happens.
