Chapter 19

After Julie finished getting her leggings and boots back on, she grabbed her phone and checked the time. It was 12:20 p.m. Lunch was almost over, so they still had time to exit the locker room. She leaned down and lightly patted Midnight's head as he tiredly looked up at her. "I hope you enjoyed yourself. I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight." Julie stood; her legs still twitched every so often. "Let's go." Julie exited the locker room with Midnight via its rear exit and walked back around to the front of the school. "See you tomorrow... Love you, Midnight." Julie grinned back at him and went straight to her locker since her last class would start soon. As she got a book out of her backpack, she heard Alyssa's voice.

"Julie!" Alyssa approached. "Where were you? You missed lunch today." While she asked, Alyssa looked Julie's outfit over a few times. "...And what are you wearing?" Julie never dressed that way, so Alyssa was curious.

She had asked too many questions, and Julie had no idea how to answer them while avoiding the truth. "I-I wasn't hungry, and I just... I liked this outfit." Julie was never good at lying, and after being mated by Midnight less than ten minutes ago, even more so.

"...Uh-huh, well, see you on Friday. National Park." Alyssa wasn't buying it, but she wouldn't press.

By the end of the day, Julie felt odd. She was walking home and felt bothered without knowing why. She realized what it could be, however. Julie had been getting close to Midnight, now intimately close. What hit her was that he still wasn't her pokémon, and Julie left in a few months. She would be away at some college most likely, and what would she do then, go back and visit the high school? She began rethinking her relationship with Midnight but loved him too much. He took her virginity and made her feel better than she ever had before physically.

As a result of her thinking the entire time she walked home, Julie arrived at her house faster than usual. At least that's how it felt.

"How was your day, sweetie? I'll make dinner for us tonight." Her mother was sitting on the couch while reading a book. Julie saw her as soon as she walked through the front door.

"It went fine, just... tired. I'll do some homework and come down later. Thank you." She lightly grinned and gave her a mother a hug before heading upstairs. Julie threw her backpack onto the carpeted floor, slumped onto her bed, and yawned while on her back. She didn't bother undressing. Julie needed a hot shower to clear her head and clean herself up from her recent locker room experience.

She would do this after eating. Her stomach was growling, and Julie had to take care of it. She went back downstairs and peeked into the kitchen, seeing her mother looking through the fridge. Julie wasn't up to chat at the moment, and she had to enter the kitchen to get a snack. She sighed and trudged back upstairs, closing the door as she entered her room. Julie would shower first after all. She'd feel better afterward. She undressed and tossed her clothes into her hamper by the closet, taking a new change from inside of her dresser and going into the restroom.

Julie flipped on the light and went to turn on the shower, taking a minute to adjust its temperature. While it regulated itself, she set her clothes atop her toilet's cover and slowly stepped in. Once the water hit her leg, she could confirm it was warm. Julie stepped in completely and let the water run over her hair and face. Her mind fell onto the situation hours ago. The one where Julie skipped lunch and wore an outfit that she shouldn't have. How could she come up with a reason for it if Alyssa asked again? Julie may have screwed herself over. She didn't want to ruin her relationship with Alyssa by lying, but Julie didn't have a choice.

After her shower and appetite and were taken care of, Julie attempted to sleep for the next day. Lilly wasn't with her in bed. She must have gone outside for the night. Julie was used to sleeping alone. She had all her life. She never had a pokémon or boyfriend to keep her company. Maybe it was time to catch one-- or fall in love with someone. Julie wanted neither, truthfully, because she instead wanted something she couldn't have. It's a disastrous situation Julie should never have thrown herself in.

--

She didn't feel as well-rested as yesterday when she woke up but slept nonetheless. This time, Julie wore something casual: dark blue skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. She put on her white sneakers once she was ready to leave, skipped breakfast again, and left for classes. Julie would eat lunch today, so she would be fine.

--

She arrived at school, still feeling tired as she walked down the hallway filled with students and lockers. That's when Julie noticed something odd. Ricky was standing by her locker again. She'd forgotten to talk to him yesterday, but why was he there again? Julie approached with a confused expression. "Hi... Ricky."

"Oh, hey Julie, How's your morning?" Ricky grinned as he leaned against her locker, which blocked access to it.

"Good... You're kind of standing in front of my locker." Julie wasn't in the best mood right. Why did he have to be here now?

"I just wanted to know if you... well, thought about what I'd asked," Ricky brought up, and Julie sighed.

"Ricky... I don't want to do this right now. It's early, and I hav-"

"It's just a simple answer. That's all I need. You don't have to be so dismissive." His grin slightly faded, and Julie tilted her head a bit.

"I think you should stop this... Whatever you're doing. It's weird, and I told you I'd think about it." She really wanted him to leave her be.

"Julie, it doesn't take that long to think about it. Do you just not like me? You could tell me that and not play with my feelings." He stood now, bearing over her. It was an attempt to intimidate her.

Julie gave in by taking a step back. "N-No, it's not that... I'm just not ready to date yet." She was nervous now. Julie sounded and looked the part.

"Like I'm gonna believe that, you were dressed like a desperate slut yesterday. You want everyone's eyes on you, but we're weird when we want to talk to you, huh?" Ricky smirked. He'd taken to insulting her. A few other students around heard this and had turned to watch. The situation escalated, and Julie felt humiliated.

"Ricky... Please move." She said this calmly. She wanted to get her books and move on, but he could hear that she was upset, and so he didn't. Not at all.

"Fuck off. Quit being a douche!" Julie gritted her teeth and pushed him to the side a bit with her right hand, something she shouldn't have done.

"Hey!" Ricky snarled before taking a small step forward to fully shove Julie onto the ground. It knocked the wind out of her once she fell onto her back. "You should quit acting like you're too good for everyone. You just don't care. That makes you a bitch, and it's why secretly no one likes you!"

"Julie!?" Ricky turned around and saw Alyssa standing a few feet away, and luckily, all he did was storm off and bump her shoulder while on his way.

Alyssa ignored that and jogged to Julie, kneeling next to her. "What happened?" Alyssa held her hand and watched Julie wipe her watery eyes. There were about a handful of students or more still silently watching the ordeal.
